I realize that he is trying to get some of his promises taken care of and quickly, maybe too quickly. It seems to me that he is taking advantage of the economic situation and the stress that people are feeling about it to push through his own agendas and wants. Some of these ideas seem to be a good ideas until you look deeper into the situation. You will find an alarming trend in his urgency which is leading us more into a socialistic form of government. Where we have few choices beyond letting the government do our thinking for us. To make kids stay in school longer per day and per year is not a good thing in my mind. Kids need to be kids, the things that are missing are kids having ample time to play or to dream or image...these things will go away when they are not able to think of anything but more learning and world competition. Also who are we competing with, the Japanese who find themselves sleeping in bus terminal and train station bedding nests, or the Chinese who have no freedoms unless the government says it's okay, or the Europeans who have shown a distain for our country's culture but who are as perverse as they come when it comes to morality? Or maybe it's the Middle east who definitely have the right idea of how to get along with their neighbors (if your not like me I must kill you). People in this country need to stop following these carismatic individuals that say one thing and then let you have it in the end...if you know what I mean.
America - for crying out loud - give the man a chance.
Just because the media asks for our opinion doesn't mean we have to give it.
I'm not going to grade the guy until about 30 days before the next electoral college goes to vote.
Very hypocritical of you to condone Europeans for their "perverse morality" while arguing your own moralistic approach to education. You think because you believe it, it is and always will be true? Open your mind.
One Big Ass Mistake America is what obama realy stands for not change. this guy hasnt made one move that will help the economy, he is single handly moving us deeper into recesiion everytime he opens his mouth, at the rare he is going well be lucky if america makes it to the next election. our kids kids kids will be paying for this idiots ignorance. God help us all.
I gave him a C. I think he rushed the stimulus bill through too quickly. I know he is a smart man, but how could he, or anyone really, understand all of the implications of the entire bill, which I think was close to 1,000 pages.
Now, if I'm wrong, and this bill was a brilliant move on Obama's part, then I'll be only too happy to change my grade to an A.
The general public and the media are both screwy. The man has been in office a few weeks and everyone is expecting the economic mess to be fixed already? What planet are you all from? It took at least eight years to get us in this mess and probably a lot longer. It is going to take any administration a good deal of time to straighten things out. Besides, the economy is a matter of public perception. If there is anyone who should be blamed right now, it should be the public. We froze the economy when we panicked and stopped buying. The media has been analyzing how the president has been doing since before the inauguration. It would be so much more intelligent to wait until his policies and legislations go through before judging them and him. Give us and Obama a break. Let's give him a couple of years to work, instead of a few minutes, before we start condeming him.
He's had 50 days on the job. For crying out loud - a manucruist has a longer probabtionary period before everyone starts complaining about her work. CUT THE MAN SOME SLACK! And if you have a problem with what he's trying to do then for once and for all I'd like to hear SOLUTIONS, nomore whiney "the sky is falling" crap. What would you do? And if you've got the answers, why aren't you in Washington fixing this problem so we can all give write a report card on you?
NOTE: This is not directed at the last person who commented. It's directed by the lemings who had a mind set to never give him a chance back to the first day he announced he was in the running. By hitting reply - is the only way I know how to jump in on the conversation.
I agree, these economic problems had their roots with Reagan. It is going to take more than a couple of years to get things rolling again. I feel like the Republicans need to get on board - they are going to go down in history as the ones who pulled us under if they don't. Hold on folks, because it is going to get worse before it gets better and that is if we can all work together to try to affect change. The same old, same old is going to drown us if we don't get up and start moving forward.
I think the so called stimulus is completely wrong. It cost way too much, and has our yet unborned greatgrandchildren in debt. One way to get this country back on it's feet would be to use this money to redo the factory biulds and put Americans back to wrk making mercchandise. This would create many jobs and more tax money.
People panicked and stopped buying because all Obama did was tell the world how critical it was, and how we have to spend a trillion dollars today. If he would have kept his mouth shut it would not have been near as bad and there would have been some time to process a reasonable plan.
Obama is doing the BEST job possible to deal with the MESS the GOP and G.W. 'Doofus' Bush have left us all in. But a MIRACLE MAN he cannot be and neither could ANYONE ELSE...
Anyone who can give this man above a D has their eyes closed. He is a socialist, bread from the same roots as the Clintons. This is why he has loaded his cabinet with former Clinton groupies. Giving anyone free hand outs is the start of socialism in its roots. This is tax payers money. No illegals should be recieving money from us. No public company should be recieving funds from us. No dead beat home owners should be given reduced loans or free hand outs. America was made great by people who strived to work harder and play by the rules. America is now weakend by those who would like to be given their slice of the pie, for nothing. Eliminate all subsities given by the Obama and Bush administration, then give the hard working citizens a tax break. The economy can only be turn over by the same people who spent theier lifes working hard and spending thier money in the FREE ENTERPRISE SYSTEM.
He's a brave man. These are difficult times and I commend him for everything he is trying to fix and improve.
soulution number 1 get the manufacturing sector back to work, do you realize that more then 1/2 of the poducts we consume used to be manufactured or assembled here are now built rpoduced or assembled over seas by slaves and child labor, you would think a black leader would make the purchase, sale, or consumption of goods produced by slaves and children illegal and job 1 of getting this economy back on track, if we made importing these goods illegal that would mean we would have to get them from some where else, how about making that somewhere else the USA every job in manufacturing creates another 5 jobs throughout the economy, problem solved, recession over.
It seems to me that we are already a "socialistic" type of government if we are talking about the government control. We have been lied to for so many years that it seems refreshing to hear some positive changes that lead our country into a positive direction. If the basis for the socialistic statement is because the President feels children should stay in school longer ....maybe it is to compete with other more academically advanced countries like China or Japan as you mentioned. Possibly the other reason is to assist parents who both have to work or are single parents and need the extra time in school rather then sending their children to daycare or leave work early to pick the children up from school on time. There are always other views and maybe we need to be open minded to the change before we condemn that change that could empower our country again.
Just think all you dumb people voted for him pretty soon this wont be america. People are so stupid they kept thinking they want a change. oh they got a change alright! now america is @!$%#ed!
solution 2, how about some imigration reform, the amount of money federal state and local goverment spend on illegal aliens is out of control yet you here nothing to help this situation.
Mr dumb ass president
hasnt improved anything hes making it worse!!!!!!!!!!!
Has anyone noticed that all the intelligent and sensible responses are those supportive of the President and the incoherent and dumb ones do not? They are only bent on name calling and derogatory remarks (scarface) ??
It's unbelievable to someone like me who's looking from the outside, that so much criticism is being leveled at the President who's been in office only a few short weeks! He's done a remarkable job so far and is actually keeping his campaign promises, a rarity for a politician. It is obvious that those who are critical of him will be critical no matter what. And I agree that these ratings are pointless in such a short time.
Canadians are all behind this president. You Americans should learn to treat your leaders with more respect and dignity.
When will the media realize that Mr. Obama's mouth is directly tied to my 401k. Every time he speaks, my 401k drops. I'm seeing what his change is now. Changing my retirement from 401k to 101k. Thanks Mr. President. Big bumps to you for that.
I like to reply to "Concerned-947483" -- You are concerned that the "the government does our thinking for us"... Where were you for the past 8 years??? Do you not think that our gov't did the thinking for us... at the cost of billions of $$$ and over 4,000 brave American lives... Where were you then??? Also, you are concerned about "our kids staying in school longer per day and per year... not a good thing in your mind. Kids need to be kids"... Our school system is one of the most expensive, money wasting school system in the industrialized world. Our school system is something that really should shame us. We can only improve on the sorry state of our public education system. Anything President Obama changes will be great improvement I'm sure. I'm quite sure we are not competing with anybody because we cannot. As far as other cultures and morality are concerned do not go there. The U.S. has a pretty poor standard of morality if you ask me. Read statistics about rape and murder and other crimes in the U.S. and the world, especially in Europe, you will be shocked to find out that we really have a problem. You must live in a cocoon since you have no idea what your talking about. Perhaps you listen to the two guys I used to listen to in the 90's and today I am abhored at their behaviour, you actually must be one of their followers and one of those who rated President Obama with an "F". You must be a Hennedy and Limbaugh follower. I hope I spelled their name correctly, I would not want to offend them. By the way, this President WILL make things right. I really hope he would let the U.S. economy go down to the point where the DOW will be at 1,000 and the S&P at about 100. That would make me happy. Take care, don't worry, be happy, things will get better thanks to this young guy leading our sorry state of affairs country. We will prevail with him at the lead and then I will like to see Hennedy and Limbaugh eat the garbage they spit out daily. Take care love!!! V/R, "AN OPTIMIST"
I think we are getting the who thing wrong. The important thing to do with our kids is to provide them family, and Parental care. Parents should include their children in their daily schedule. Be there for their school work, attend Parents' Teachers meeting at school. Stop glorifying single parenthood. Two good heads are better than one. An average child needs the role of mom and dad. I don't think keeping them in school longer will make a great difference to already rebellious lifestyle that most of them now live.
Lea - if you would like to be a socialist, move to Europe, there are plenty of places there. If you would like to be American, which means you are a capitalist, you need to wake up. No more government controls. They have gone far enough.
I really think if you want socialize medicine, banking and what ever else you want the gov to take care of for you because your to lazy to go out and do it yourself then Obama has done everything you wanted him to do and more. But for me all he has done is just made things from bad to worst and really the dem. are in complete control of this mess and they should all take the blame not just one person, or an a opposing party with opposing views
Really...well you need to look up the definition of socialist we have been living that way for years. Taxation without representation! Now everyone is angry because the President is not doing everything THEIR way. What are you really afraid of? Maybe the Truth!
The people who graded im With F are the same idiots that love John McCain, George Bush and Sara Palin. Its people like you that have nothing to offer this country
I notice that alot of the posters in this opinion blog bloviate about "socialism", when they do not really seem to know what actual socialism involves (complete govt. ownership of the means of production etc...). Simply tinkering around the edges with the system we have right now does not qualify, sorry. I believe that President Obama is trying mightily to save what is left of capitalism after the wild, unregulated version that has prevailed since the late 1970s, while throwing the worst features overboard (ie: state support and subsidies of multi-millionaires and billionaires, regressive income taxes, a health care system as profit center, rather than providing what people actually need at a reasonable cost, the revolving door between government and business, lack of oversight and regulation...), and is attempting to bring back the middle class from the brink of destruction with targeted policies. I dispute the contention some make here that if you are not rich you are somehow lazy or you are somehow looking for a handout. We are not; we just want a more level playing field in the economic game. Are you rich? Have the mean spirited, regressive and punitive policies of the Republicans made you wealthy? Is your standard of living better than it was in 1996; than in 1976? Income inequality is at its worst point in this country since the late 1920s, and that is not healthy for any economy; it leads to resentment and anger, and even violence in certain cases. By the way, those of you who take shots at countries like France, Germany, Sweden etc... forget that all of these countries have basically capitalist economies with successful corporations, business people etc... They just made the decision a long time ago that no-one should ever have to live in poverty in countries as rich as they are; they all have higher average living standards per person than here in the US, so maybe we should look at what we have done wrong here, with our relatively unregulated economy with its "right to work" states, destructive anti-union attitudes, declining middle class, outsourced jobs, coddled billionaires... I could go on. The whole point of government regulation of commerce is to protect those who are not able to protect themselves, to level the palying field. That playing field has been severely tilted towards the wealthy and powerful for close to thirty five years now, and it has demonstrably not worked for most people. People will still be able to become wealthy beyond their wildest dreams in this country, they will not suddenly stop investing just because the capital gains tax went from a ridiculous 15 to a barely adequate 20% (OMG it's communism! 20%!!!) or raised the marginal income tax rates on the wealthiest 1% of 1% to 39.5% from 35%. The great rebalancing is on, like it or not.
I did not say we haven't be like this for years. It started with Carter and has move forward since. We are moving closer to socialism, that doesn't mean its right, it means that the masses of asses have started to take over. When the people looking for hand outs is greater than the ones providing what will we have then? Wait 4 years you might just find out. And please look up socialism, its scary how close he is coming in only 100 days!
Please guys, he is doing great. I thought that all those banks, financial and big industries are big in finance, so what happend to them???? Maybe Bush was big on Fianance??
mary collins:I feel like the Republicans need to get on board
Why would we want to go down with a sinking ship! And it will sink!!
jr49: If he did that, then we would be just as blind as the idiots that voted for him!!
Liberal/socialist:Obama is doing the BEST job possible to RUIN THIS CONTRY!!
Lea9162: Now everyone is angry because the President is not doing everything THEIR way. What are you really afraid of? Maybe the Truth!
Having him for a president, is like putting a 5 yr. old in the pilots seat of a 757!! Just like the 5 yr. old, this socialist/LIB so called president dose'nt know what he's doing!!!
if you hate George Bush, than you hate John Mcain, seems to me he used the open hatred of bush to win his election, alot like hitler using the german peoples hatred of the jewish people to gain power, and now i bet you hate me cause i dont, agree with his every last breath. grow up
Just remember this folks and most of them have a mutitude of logins....
"We will lose on legislation. But we will win the message war every day, and every week, until November 2010," said Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-N.C., an outspoken conservative who has participated on the GOP message teams. "Our goal is to bring down approval numbers for [Speaker Nancy] Pelosi and for House Democrats. That will take repetition. This is a marathon, not a sprint.
Saw one comment that looked like the gretest chits of the lead up to the election all are disproved but they are using them anyway.
To the person who slammed Obama, he is trying to clean up the mess Republicans have made in the last 8 years!!! By the way, Europeans have more morality than many Americans we just don't hide behind religion and hypocritical actions. I resent the fact that you are blaming this whole mess on an administration that has just taken office. Maybe those who criticize should get out of the glass house first!!!!!
Oh, Mr. Scarface, aren't you quite the witty one? Two can play this game pal! Did you know that you're republican partie's beloved NRA satnds for Natzis Ruing America, and NAFTA stand for Natzis and Fascist Trade Agreement, and that the GOP themselves stand for GUILD OF PRICKS!!! Have a nice day!! Wink, wink…call me!!
He could start by buying the White House food supply from Americas Farmers. $100.00 per pound Beef from Japan .Champagne from France ???? Black Angus is not good enough for this Socialist Pig.. Talk about a Community Activist with expensive taste. Wow G.W use to eat PBJ and Milk for his lunch , at times I thought he was an Idiot but he respected the Peoples House and was not feeling so exalted.
Don't give me the Bush spent on the war and Health Care . By him jumping on terrorist in their homeland they were too busy defending it to come here. Yes it took too long for that Democrats and Liberal groups need to take responsibility. You wanted a Surgical War no Women and Children harmed weeding them out takes time. Especially when those brave men were hiding behind the women. But it was ok to have your people killed by the same people who would not care who in your country was killed. News flash for you they will gleefully kill American Women as they see them as one of the Greatest evils the ever walked the Earth.
While this ignorant twisted idiot Obama keeps his office at 70* as he is from Hawaii and like the warmth,he lives large. Hawaii has a temperate climate it drops to 60* at night. Many who are from even warmer spots on this Earth keep their Homes at 65* because they cannot afford the cost ,but this one has to show that he is more deserving than all.
The classless dolt who is soo very smart could not even give the British PM a decent lunch or reception. Smarty that he is ,if he did not know hospitality was essential/expected. He should have learned from the one he got when he visited Canada last Month. But why should he after all he is Obama the First Black President and all is owed to him, my Goodness even if we found a stray cat or dog we would feed and water it while we waited for Animal Control to come and get it. Because we are Idiots ,and suppose to believe and accept everything he says he puts out a press release that said it was because he was too tired, like he was the one preparing the meal. WOW after less than 50 days he is too tired what will he be after 365. Wow, you thought that GW embarrased you ???LOL
One would think after admonishing the people that they cannot spend and keep their homes heated and cooled to their comfort he would at least pretend he believed what he was saying. Like Jumbled Carter did with the sweater thing in the 80's. To think you Democrat fools believed this Garbage. He lost me when I realized that the empty worm had his family living in dire poverty in Africa while he wants to tell us we should be taking care of the poor and being our Brothers keepers. Do you know he could have built a grand home for his family for less than $500 bucks ? A couple goats and chickens for less than $5.? Maybe we should really Change and follow his example.
If he can't eat American Beef and support Americans then I hope that sucker chokes on the $100.00 per lb. Beef. The slime dictator is no better than Castro. He let the people suffer for food jobs and with public health care as long as he can provide the best for himself and his family. Castro isn't using Cuba's National Health Care that is for the little people, that is you. He is importing specialists from Spain,Israel and America for his Cancer treatments, the Cuban people will never see that type of care. So sad Americans do not realize that is what they will be getting will be substandard care.
Yeah as the Wealthy move and close their businesses just think.. Obama will really feels your pain.....as he and the elite Senators and Congress People are turning the screws on all of you.
badmama, you need to read all the newspapers. The problem started with Clinton and letting everyone buy houses that could not afford it. Read the past news. obama is the worst President we have ever had. He knows nothing about economics. Why do you think the stock market is tanking. They all know obama does not have a clue. I think the glass house has fallen on your head and disconnected your head from the rest of your body.
Your are very misguided. The major problem with our country is our lack of respect for education. We are lagging behind so many other places as a people because we collectively put more emphasis on entertainment. I agree that children need to utilize thier imaginations but not at the expense of a good and solid education. I like the move toward health care for all people, not just for those that can afford it. I like the move toward better education for all people, not just for those who can afford it. I think you are afraid of the true meaning of equality being realized. When the have nots and never have hads will finally have something. I think he is doing a great job and the capitalists of this nation that feed off of the poor will have a greater disdain for him...because he is about the people-not just the rich twenty percent.
Change is here people! Change from a republic to socialist state run country. change from the greatest country in the world full of hard working ,moral people .To spoon feeding those who take no personal responsablity for them selves but put it on others. great big goverment with social health care. wow this country is in trouble, bad trouble thanks to Mr Obama and his puppets in the house and senate. He will destroy this country and we nobody but ourselves to blame we put them all in office, what a sad day for america the country I love.
Seriously! You want to look into the government now? Now all of a sudden that the republican’s are no longer in office you all care about the direction of this country, seriously? You people sat on you’re buts wile Bush took us into a dictatorship. Where were the cries of out rage when he lied it us about the war, privatized it, and gave huge no bid contracts to his buddies? Where was this outrage when he took our civil liberties away? You are the same group of people called us un-American when we protested. If we slip in to a socialist county it will be because you sat back wile our rights were striped away, you set wheels in motion, you let it be know that our leaders can do what ever they wanted under the flag of our national security, and the rest of us should just shut up and let it happen. These are the rules you set, not us, the rules you forced us to play by for the last 8 years if anyone dared to go ageist Bush we were called traders, and Un-American.
But now 7 week later you have pulled out your civics book and suddenly care? If you so worried about our country then you have to fight for ALL of our rights, not just the ones you find convenient to your cause, because YOUR guy will not always be in office, and you may not like what the next guy does with the liberties you handed over so freely and blindly.
It took us 10 years to dig this whole it will take more then 7 weeks to get ourselves out of it.
One of the biggest problems our children have is in the retention of what they've learned. They almost always spend the beginning of every quarter, semester or school year getting caught back up by having to review what they learned before thebreak. We lose a lot of valuable class time and the continuity of learning is greatly affected. Science has been able to prove that if we don't move what we are learning into the long term memory of our brain, we risk losing much of what we've learned. Our children could do so much better in school and society in general if they had a more solid foundation of education. I think we can all agree that knowledge is power and that the key to a successful future is empowering our future generations by giving them the best education possible. School is not only a place to learn basic reading, writing, and arithmetic, but it is also a place to develop social skills and build self esteem. It's a place to build valuable friendships and to learn to work through problems with others. A place to learn the value of teamwork through group projects and through sports. School is a place to discover your passion through a broad variety of opportunities. Maybe you discover it through music class, drama class, or through your arts and crafts class. Maybe an exciting science project sparks your desire to be a scientist or doctor. Perhaps an interesting history lesson lights a fire in your spirit to travel, join the military, become a teacher, or run for government office. All kinds of different sporting activities can start the process of opening up a child to a whole new world. Maybe one in which they feel a part of something bigger than themselves for the first time, or perhaps, one that may lead them become an Olympic Champion, professional athlete or even future coach. School in America is so much more than what is offered in other countries but we are currently failing our kids. We are cutting funding for the valuable extra activities and are spending too much time having teachers teach a test. Another important thing to keep in mind is that when kids lose the knowledge over the breaks and aren't able to remember the core fundamentals necessary to move onto the next level they not only perform worse but are affected in many other ways too. For example, they become much more stressed out, feeling they aren't as smart as they should be, and then lowers their self esteem. Many times it can lead to kids missing class because they don't feel prepared for their test and then it just gets worse and worse, often leading to ultimately dropping out.
I gave Obama an "D" and here is why.
1) whether you are repub or dem they are all at fault. Obama has done nothing to remedy partisanship. Repubs lost their core values in the bush administration and thankfully are going back to their principles of less govt., and lower taxes. Many Key Dems Obama, Pelosi, Frank, Dodd and many others were also responsible for fannie and passing legislation that everyone should own a home, forcing banks to comply with LOW standards of lending, not passing (McCain sponsored bill) to regulate Fannie and Freddie and on and on for both parties. So while we the people are busy being partisan and distracted both parties are robbing us, our kids, and grandkids blind.
2) Obama is going to raise taxes on the rich which equates to the very people who sell you commodities, hire you, and pay 85% of the load already for all govt programs. This translates to higher costs/inflation, less hiring more layoffs, and more business closing or going overseas. Since the rich already are heavily taxed and charitable many charities are squirming because that write off is gone. To compound that rich people have enough money to move their businesses overseas...and let me tell you if you think business is going to take this tax hike bending over you are dead wrong...all costs trickle down to the consumer. If someone, shoplifts honest people pay in higher costs of goods. When someone makes a false insurance claim or sues someone frivilously we all pay with higher premiums and on and on!
3) Stem cell research was never illegal only now instead of private companies controlling it our big bureaucratic can't do anything right govt is involved.
4) Obama is raising everyone's taxes on utilities which translates to higher electric, gas, etc bills compound that with the inflation because of the class warfare Obama is waging that is coming and yes that hurts the very people he says he is rooting for-the poor. Mark my word more is to come only Obama will get you through the back door instead of outright.
5) Obama's propogation of victimhood. I am really super fatigued over the racism arguments. Racism only exists in a small percentage of the white population, but the propogation of racism amongst minorities has caused a huge racist population amongst minorities toward white people. The very people that profit from propogating racism (Jesse, Sharpton et al.) are profiting off of selling minorities on their victimization. When someone views theselves as a victim with no power it creates feeling of hopelessness, fear, despair and more of a division and distrust amongst the races. UNfortunately, govt programs only work to keep people in a victim mode whether you are white or black. Democrats have never met a victim they dislike and love govt programs so they can beat their chests and pronounce to the wolrd how they help the little people. The result generations who rely on govt instead of themselves.
5) The common sense is gone. When I am hurting financially I don't go out and spend on frivilous things. I focus on my core essentials. Bottom line, repub and dems all should be reigned in on this spending and focus on what is going to improve our economy. Being forced to pass bills at midnight without reading the 1000 plus pages is ridiculous! You may have 13 dollars per week more in your checks at the cost of every taxpayer in America in 50 DAYS IN OFFICE-80000 DOLLARS a piece. Can't we all agree much of this spending bill is not going to produce jobs.
Clearly to anyone with eyes Reaganonics has produced its child- creating an elite wealthy few and a large mass of hungry poor. But then again what would one expect of a philosophy that sees catsup as a vegetable. After the work of the neocons under the guidance of George Herbert Hoover Bush it may take a while for Mr Obama to correct things. Liberalism is an ugly word to neocons; but then God is an ugly word to Satan. It is high time we steered away from corporate fascism and became a liberal democracy once again. May God give Mr Obama wisdom and strength.
Perhaps you would care to expand on your definition of European "perverse" morality? Have you been to Europe, are you one of the small percentage of Americans who actually has a passport permitting travel outside your own borders? Or are you merely regurgitating the xenophobic opinions of your previous administration?
some one tell me if these step make sense to you.
(1) all federal politician's take a 10% pay cut (2) all state and city politician's take a 5% pay cut (3) before any money is spent the government has to look for way to cut back on waste. (4) do not give GM any money they must file chapter 11 (5) since Chrysler is not a publicly traded co. tell them no to financial aid. (6) reward ford for having the fore-site that made them start making changes 5 yrs ago which put them in the right position at this time. (7) when are we the people going to say that it no more and force our government to change the way things are done will it take a revolution?
Are you kidding me? you are actually thinking something so disastrous as what the Bush administration created could be fixed in 100 days??????
Get a clue and stop trying to make our country CRASH with all your NEGATIVE STORIES!!!!The media should be held responsible for MOST of this CRASH since all the media loves is dirty laundry! Remember that 80's song??? Oh how true it is...shame on the media!
Now, let Obama do his thing and give him some time and credit for God sakes!!!!!!
Concerned, your statements and many made by others with their own agenda which is not necessarily for the good of the whole country and rather made along party lines, only goes to highlight the difficulty the new President faces trying to drag many of you into the 21st century.
Other countries have a better standard of living than this country whatever taxes they are paying. They have also have a longer life expectancy and better health and healthcare than this country ever had. They may pay more taxes but the monies goes to help all their citizens, not just a favoured few.
Many posters are probably just republican surrogates and lobbiests who troll the various message boards at the behest of of their masters to spread miss-information, divisiveness etc which is worse than anything that enemies of this country could do IMO.
It is sad to believe/realize that there are those in this country who would rather see the President fail and thus the country fail, thus working actively towards this destructive idea so they can prove how right they are at the expense of the rest of the American citizens.
Elections are in 2 years and 4 years from now. The USA is in economic crisis now that is worse than any war. If this country goes down, many other countries will go down with us. We are not alone in this world and we are all interconnected one way or the other.
The USA economy and the global economy is in a tail spin and someone is actively trying to cushion the fall. But instead of working with our elected President ( who is trying to cushion the fall) other elected officials (and their cohorts) are playing political games rather than do the job they were elected and are being paid to do. They have no new ideas except the blueprints of failed policies of the past, that have put us in this economic mess and they trot those same failed policies out again or/and are working to have the same failed policies continue.
Instead of trying to put out economic fires they are trying to pour oil on the flames by their constant berrage of questionable verbage, that only continues to show that the do not have a clue about how to solve the problems this country or the rest of the world is in or facing.
They criticize the budget stating it has a lot of pork yet they are the ones adding the pork. Ordinary citizens must take a pay cut yet they get their pay raises even in this mess of an economy. No one has heard anything about these leaders cutting or putting a hold on their salaries increases or automatic pay raises for the duration of this economic downturn.
Ordinary folks are criticized for their so called run away spending in the past, yet now that they are saving and cutting back on spending they are still being criticized for not helping businesses out.
Ordinary folks are criticized for having too much debt and not being fiscally responsible yet many institutions and corporations whose management team have run their companies into the ground while getting hugh salaries and bonuses are not being looked upon as being fiscally irresponsible.
Ordinary folks are criticized for accepting welfare and have to go through hoops to get even the smallest of help or aid, even although they need the help, yet when these institutions and corporations who ran their industry into the ground through their greed and miss- management go for government help they feel that that is their due, and the monies should be given to them without them having to put up some collateral for their loan/handout like the rest of us have to do. If the government require collateral for the billions they receive, then that is nationalization of their company and that is supposedly a no no. That is supposedly socialism. LOL
When policies or plans are made to help regular folks stay in their homes or get healthcare, then that is supposedly socialism at work and is therefore wrong or should not be done.
Parents need to take responsibility for their children and stop leaving it up to the teachers to be parent and teacher to their kids. Perhaps this might help to stop many of these kids ending up pregnant or getting into gangs or exhibiting/participating in other negative behaviour/activites.
So the school term is longer or the hours at school is longer, so what? Perhaps these children may even learn something and at least they will be at school under supervision rather than being latch key kids and being home alone to get up to all sorts of negative behaviours/activities.
There is nothing wrong with charter schools if they work. There are many folks who do not or have never had children and yet have had to pay for schooling other peoples children. When do these people have a say in the matter. They are also paying taxes. Their tax dollars can go to pay for these charter schools. Perhaps it is about time that parents should be required to pay more out of their own pockets aside from through State taxes to send their children to school, like in some parents already do and happen oftetimes in other countries. Perhaps when they feel the actual cost of educating their children they will become more responsible all round. Many parents may even become more involved with their children academic achievement instead of pushing sports as a means of getting wealthy through their kids.
The media is also to blame for starting and stoking some of these fires of discontent through their talking heads who have their own agenda which is oftentimes ratings based. There is just too much spin when it comes to the news. These folks spin whatever is being said, oftentimes interpreting statements made to suit where they are comming from and to stoke discord. After all this sort of thing garners more attention than straight reporting. They need to realize that the economy is in a drastic downturn and what they say can stir up negativity that is counter productive. But then perhaps that is the desired effect. Perhaps they need to remember that they are not immune to being given a pink slip, as more and more people get rid of their expensive cable, dish etc linkups to save money as the economy continues to tank.
Blame the President all you want, rate his performance negatively all you want, work against him all you want etc. Just remember to do the same about yourselves and also remember that if he does not succeed neither do we.
Think you can't end up in tent city like is happening to many losing their jobs and homes etc? Think again.
Obama IS the false prophet. PLEASE research all the information you can find about the false prophet.
He is obviosly a Socialist who governs from the radical left. He using the bad economy as a platform to advance his socialist agenda and the liberal media including MSNBC is not reporting it. His policies reward people who do not work, are irresponsible and penalizes people/companies who are sucessful. Basic redistrubtion of wealth to others is the definition of Socialism. Anybody who disputes that is either unsophisticated ( like the majority of people who voted for Obama) or are socialist themselves. Socialism has never worked in any society and will not work here. The good old days of America are gone, we have seen our best days as a country. Obama, Pelosi, Reid and other socialistic un-Amercians have made sure of that.
You commie liberals who are reading this, say anything you want about Bush. Bottom-line is he kept our country safe since 911 and had 7.5 prosperous years during his tenure. Maybe he is not a gifted speaker like the socialist we have in the WH, but he did his job. When we get attacked again under his watch because he is soft on terrorism and defense, you will wish George W. was back in the WH. The housing market is what failed and caused us into this time. You can blame The Community Reinvestment Act that required banks to soften their banking guidelines and lend to the poor and the low credit borrowers for starting the mess. Oh by the way, that was initiated by Clinton and his liberal cronies in the mid 90's. We live in a free country but you do not have the right to health care, home ownership, a job or anything else for that matter, you have to earn it. Something soon will not be a requirement
I have to agree wholeheartedly with cowgirls conservative. Instead of looking to the government for all the solutions we should look at ourselves. How many of you out there could handle being out of work for more than a week with the assistance of the government? Statistics say about 70% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. We need to take responsibility for ourselves and our futures and not rely on the government to bail us out for poor desicions. I feel for those who have lost their homes because of foreclosures and I understand that some times situations are beyond your control. But when you see a storm coming you prepare for the rain and wind. My husband lost his job in November, a company that didn't make good financial decisions couldn't keep paying him. He still doesn't have a job, we aren't relying on the government to pay our mortgage or bail us out. We prepared for a storm. Believe me they do hit when you least expect it. I have a daughter who at three years old was diagnosed with cancer. I don't believe that it is the governments job to cure cancer and I have watched my child go through the harshness of it. I believe in personal responsibilty, the sanctity of life, less government and the founding principles this country was established under and we are heading in the opposite direction of all of these.
The economic problems did not have their roots with Reagan, like one ignorant person stated. The economic problems started with Carter and double digit inflation, gas lines, etc...
As far as BZe1's comment stating if he does not succeed, neither do we: That really depends on his agenda. Obama is socialist and will move this country in directions that we do not want to go. So if he does succeed, we fail. Understand that.
bama makes Bush look great although it is time for him and his supporters to realize they won and as a result get over Bush and start leading. Unfortunately, so far Obama has not been up to the task. A leader needs to both move and calm the tide. Obama can't focus and as a result he has grown the tide but more important scattered it out of control in multiple directions. Someone needs to step in and take control ... they can do it confidentially and give him the credit but it must happen soon. His secretary of Treasury needs to be fired tonight.
Ok people the obvious problem with what most of you are saying is SOOO obvious! Why are you all fenagling about? Of course the economic peril is not Obama's fault OBVIOUSLY!! But on the other hand people have this halfassed line of reasoning where anybody criticising what hes doing isnt "giving him a chance" Give me and everyone else a break. what are you people paid to sit on your computer and sob to a violen? Your clear inability to think about what people (the smart ones) are criticising is because you dont actually understand what the "stimulus" actually does to our situation. Or the FDIC bailout, or other DEFICIT spending! If your serious about going on a diet you dont say to yourself, "Im going to start next week, so before I HAVE TO do that, Im going to stuff my face with sweets while I still can" If your serious about a diet you start right then and there (compliments to Peter Schiff Vlog).
For us the problem is that we dont have money (HELLO PEOPLE WHAT DO YOU THINK "BANKRUPT" OR "INSOLVENT" MEANS?!?!?!) So then why was the stock market so high and there was all this "prosperity" ? because we were creating the "image" of wealth because we were in so much DEBT! It doesnt matter if im wearing a $1000 watch and driving a mercedez if I paid for it with money that didnt actually come from PRODUCTION but was in fact barrowed.
So all you partyline mud slingers just please shut up because real people dont even care about anything you think is important enough to say. As should be OBVIOUS to everyone, our (USA) problem is indebtedness. So when you see someone saying "Obama is destroying our currency" or "The Stimulus bill is a load of &#*%" dont just instantly asume its all nee-jerk log cabin neoconservatism.
And now the BIGGEST problem for all the sensable criticism of the things Obama is authorizing is that "Oh well Bush fudged our economy give Obama a chance... blah blah blah..." Well if you could understand how Bush in fact screwed the economy then you could see how Obama is going to screw our economy. Bush ran a huge deficit that didnt actually PRODUCE anything. Obama's running a huge deficit and its not going to PRODUCE anything!!! So my guess is most of you didnt even know what was news concerning our economy untill the effects (of mistakes) were actually manifesting and taking centerstage on television.
And from there, most people are going to stick to party line bafoonery because when everything was all "ladeda...blah blah carefree ladeda" we could sit around and talk about morallity and good and evil and everything else under the sun. Now that people are starting to realize all thats a bunch of crap the govt isnt supossed to have anything to do with in the first place, we are talking about the economy but still in lala land where some Democrat or some Republican is gonna do something.
Additionally, anyone with a brain stem knows the economics of the country is much worse than any of the crap you see on television 8%-9% unemployment??? HA! what a joke. try 17% morons. If you dont believe me just walk outside your bubble and talk to someone. If you actually believe the numbers the govt forcasts (which have ALL BEEN WRONG!!) then you shouldnt be allowed to have any input at all because you have likely missed everything of importance that there is to know and understand.
Finally can someone please tell me, that if the stimulus bill is acutally going to help us, how it would do so. Look the whole of the economy can in some basic ways be likened to an individual. If that person takes out a big loan and invests it into his factory to expand it, then he will A.) have PRODUCED more, B.) CREATED more jobs, and C.) paid off his DEBT. How is the stimulus gonna do this. Highway rebuilding project?!?! even if we put 3 million people to work just building roads and briges, how is the income those people make going to help pay off our debts? ITS NOT!! and furthermore, the increased commerce (suppposedly if new roads built make it cheaper to ship goods) isnt suddenly going to put money in all the failing and failed businesses! So were going to be in a bigger hole with nothing but more concrete roads (and construction workers with nothing left to do).
And another thing, since im typing still, about the bank bailouts and mortgage bailouts. How can it even be extrapolated that its a good thing?? I mean comon people its time to walk out of the lala land bubble you've been living in. The WHOLE arguement for it was that, "well oh my gosh people are gonna have to suffer really bad consiquences for makeing what were OBVIOUSLY MISTAKES" "well we cant let the lazy impotent self destructive morons suffer any consiquences becasue they dont have the stones to be realistic" THE WHOLE THING WAS DONE TO CONTINUE POWDERING THE ASSES OF PEOPLE WHO DESERVE NOTHING BUT A HARD ROCK TO SIT ON
I am very outraged at the utter DISRESPECT for former President Bush! Although I do not agree with many things that he did, he was OUR president and DEMANDS the respect that title brings!!!!! I have been disgusted by these people who consistently bash him....it's pathetic and shows what kind of people you are!
The Repugs are on a concerted campaign to undermine our President. The loss of our Constitution and the decimation of our economy under Bush part I and II seems to be forgotten and/or acceptable the killing and displacement of millions of Iraqis seem to be a non-issue. You claim the people of the Middle East are violent but what do you call the invasion and destruction of Iraq by bush/cheney? The President inherited a mess and to expect him to fix it in a couple of months is ridiculous. All of the detractors seem to be chomping at the bit to pronounce the election of a non-white male as a mistake and claim his inability to do the job. Bush had began to foment this horribly expensive war and gutted our country. To fix it or even stem the hemmoraging of our tax dollar to Iraq and Afganistan will take more than one could imagine.
Some of his promises taken care of??? How about the PROMISE not to allow any pork bill attachements coming to his desk! He said he will sign one tomorrow that has over 9,000 pork barrel attachments to it. If he signs it, what does that make him? From where I come from, a liar.
To Chris. Right On Brother but the more common translation of GOP is GREEDY OLD PIG. These sleazoid Republicans don't give a damn about the People but only their JOBS as Influence Peddlers and minions of the Rich and Powerful. Instead of helping Obama to deal with the MESS their Boy Doofus Bush created, they are already campaigning for 2012. SICK!!!
This poll is all over the freeper sites. I kind of figured that something was screwy as Obama has been in office for 6 weeks and an "F" grade is kind of ridiculous...what else would one expect from the GOP?
Whinners! They are whinning against the daring president sworn in barely 50 days ago. All of you whinners are up to no good, but mischief. Where were your daddys when Obama contested? Your smart-ass daddys could have contested and profered solutions to the crisis, instead of undercutting the man who is trying to repair the damages done by the Republicans. Be patriotic sometimes.
WHINERS indeed! And the most pathetic kind too. As I said it myself, "It would be hilarious if it were not so tragic to see how the GOP and the Right are so UPSET about their overwhelming LOSS to Obama that their lead man the ignorant "Drug Addicted Gasbag" as Paul Begala so appropriately nailed him, who is Rush Limbugger, is literally flailing his arms and body around like a Fish out of water or some such." HOO HA. And NOW the Repugnant-cans have lost another round, they failed to stop the Stimulus and now they've failed again to stop the Budget and with all the so called 'Pork' intact. Did you see poor widdle Johnny McCain's face in the picture in the news today, a look of total exasperation at how powerless the Republicans are right now. And as for the idiot on here who tried to make it out like Obama has lost points in the Polls that's hardly so, in fact he's at his highest peak at this point the majority of the nation solidly behind him and only the poor widdle GOP and Right Wing WHINERS just whining their widdle hearts out. I'll tell ya, it's GREAT to be a Democrat or a Progressive at this moment in time. The Tide has Turned and suffice it to say it's only just BEGUN!!!
Anyone criticizing our most illustrious leader Mr. Obama must spend some time at one of our re-education camps.
Remember Big Brother is always watching.
It is a double good day under Obama.
You have apparently never been to China or any of the other world culturea where people spend more time on education than we do...and end up being able to "play" more than we do...because their education make their play more cerebral and affordable. What education needs is more commitment and support from home to put in quality leqrning time...at home and at school...all play and no work makes Jack a genius or what?
I gave Obama a B. Lets face it, folks. At least he is making an effort. The problem with any President of the United States resides in 1: An out-of-touch elitist power-crazed party-polarized self-serving Congress, who just don't have a clue about much of anything, paying the General Accountability Office to tell them the truth, 99 percent of which falls on deaf ears, acting in a manner that screams out "term limits", and 2: the choice of Cabinet officials, which are generally swim in the same cesspool as Congressmen. Through Executive Order, the President has the power to inforce current laws which are not being enforced, such as immigration, health reform, social security, and so on, provided he has the testicular fortitude to paddle upstream against some of the most villianous, self-serving characters ever assembled in one place on the face of the earth. The very foundation of this nation has been compromised and is crumbling at the hands of the very people we have elected to uphold our Constitution, our values, our society, our national security, and our financial welfare. While the President is the supreme leader, no President is significantly to blame when compared to the Congress, where 90 percent of the blame lies. My suggestion would be that if these people are representative of what the finest Ivy League universities and law schools can produce, it would be best to close them indefinately and provide suitable candidates for office from A & M universities where at the least, they have learned how to tie a pair of lace-up shoes. The reason we are in this mess is because those people we elected have allowed, or actually caused the problems we now experience. If Obama did not have Congress to deal with, we would be a lot better off. They are not his friends, nor are they ours by any stretch of the imagination, and I am speaking as a Republican and taxpaying citizen. If anyone disagrees, just let me throw out a little reality in regard to what these great minds have done to us-- One trillion dollars represented as a stack of one thousand dollar bills would extend over 67 miles in height--Where are we now?--10, 11, 12 Trillion. Think about it.
Welcome to the Idiocracy!
300 million idol-worshipping dumb-asses, utterly controlled by 544 incompetent, idol-wannbe, Dumb-asses (Dr. Ron Paul is the only intelligent being left in our Government).
I have to say has summed it up rather well. What I fear is a conflagration, the perfect storm. A terrible congress, 2/3 of the wealth held by 2% of the population, economic downturn, and ecologic demise. I think Mr. Obama is trying to do something about all of them. Unfortunately, he is surrounded by false information and devious persons. He's making decisions about subjects he knows little about. He's basing his decisions on, which argument make the most sense. But false choices, and outright lies, make this process flawed. Very stupid ideas can seem to make sense when based on false assumptions. And because very few people have degrees in economics, most of us don't really know what the right answer is. We instinctively know what's going on is wrong, but for the most part we don't really know what the right answer is.
Barack Obama has stabbed public school teachers in the back...one of his biggest support groups...with advocating charter schools. I would hope the teachers would not support him for re-election. I know I won't! Shame on you, Mr. Obama!
He is not stabbing you in the back, he is trying to improve education for all children. All schools need to be reformed. Including Charter and Public schools.
You can't throw money at public schools and think things will improve. Until "PARENTS" become parents and start teaching discipline and respect to their children, DON'T EXPECT THINGS TO IMPROVE.
shane 947562 you need real help, you refuse to comment on the last 8 years and who was in charge of this country, yet you a willing to place blame on the first person trying to help.look at what the last eight years is still costing us.dont spread lies before you read the facts.
Attempting to improve education should by no means stab teachers in the back. If teachers are truly individuals who seek to share knowledge, enlighten American's youth, or any of the other rhetorical cliches we hear about teachers every single day, then those teachers would not be complaining when someone states that education should be improved upon.
I do not agree with the concept of longer school hours because that would leave less time for children to play and exercise creatively (which studies have shown make kids more intelligent), but I do agree that the system needs changed. We are teaching with methods that are, in many instances, no longer relevant. It doesn't do a child any good to learn about surviving in the Industrial era when that is no longer the era we are in. It doesn't do a child any good to step out of High School with no idea how to create a resume or perform in an interview. There are vital bits of information that are missing, have been brushed over, or are shoved aside for simpler topics. Reforming how things are taught (which means retraining the teachers) would be valuable. Not stabbing the teachers in the back, just "encouraging" them to do their jobs.
Competition is the best way to push schools into doing better. Good teachersare hard to come by. Teachers are fighting a losing battle, un-involved parents, our of control students, way too many administrators. There is so much money in administration costs that teachers and classrooms suffer. Its not so much they need more money they need better management of funds. Also control of public school classrooms have to happen.
I am sorry you and other teachers feel betrayed, I am sorry for the good ones who are truly dedicated to public education. Maybe pushing your school corp and/or teachers union to compete for those dollars that could go to your school instead of charters.
My daughter went to public school and I wish I had the option of private education for her, I couldn't afford it. There is more control of classrooms and curriculum. With the "every child left behind act" control was taken from classrooms and teachers. Their ability to teach was taken over for testing purposes.
There is no doubt our public schools are in a crisis (along with alot of other things) we have to work together to solve it. Debate!! Debate is key, gathering as many ideas as possible then try to find ones that will work, compromising is also key.
And thankfully we finally have that option in President Obama's administration.
I agree with Roadkill's comment. My kid gets very good grades in school (and he doesn't go to school in some snotty neighborhood). One of the reasons is that my wife and I have instilled a mindset in him to study and that education is very important. In our old school district, the mindset was that teachers, students, and parents were partners in a child's education. We make sure that our child gets his homework done and we help him study.
I know that schools need money (and if Obama is somehow able to increase education funding, more power to him), but a lack of money is no excuse for kids dropping out of school at alarming rates in some areas, joining gangs, and parental neglect. In St Louis, schools are being closed because many kids have stopped going. A lot of people show up to various meetings to keep the schools open, but many of these people are nowhere to be found otherwise. You don't need money to show your kid that you care about his/her education. No amount of cash will get a kid to care about school if parents and teachers are adversaries instead of partners.
Uh, charter schools ARE PUBLIC SCHOOLS...there just better public schools (like a private but without the ginormous tuitions)
Shane - I don't know where you get your info but you need to do some research. You sound like a person without kids...bc if you had kids or was a teacher you would know that basic info and you would also know that the best thing that could happen for a childs education is that ALL schools became public schools...
Road kill said it all. This is why there is a sharp increase in charter schools and home schooling. Concerned parents that want a say in their kids education have no hope in public school bureaucracy.
Charles - I agree that ALOT parents need to step up their game but people need to stop assuming that it's a matter of neglect, I've taught from CA to NYC, that's NOT always the answer...
ALOT of parents have to work more than one job (especially in this economy) just to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table and clothes on their childrens backs...maybe you don't know any middle - to - poor - class people but that's most of the country. Even when parents only have one job...most schools let out between 2:30-3:30 MOST parents don't get off work until 5-6...leaving kids unsupervised for at least 3-4 hrs (and that's assuming the parents don't have a commute which most middle class/poor class people do) before they can get home to them...and MOST people do not have money for a nanny or childcare (let's be real)
I'm not sure how you figure less money isn't responsible for kids joining gangs, dropping out, etc --ALL studies show it is DIRECTLY related...
when funding is cut for afterschool programs, libraries, youth centers, and other safe places for kids (not to mention alot of businesses aren't hiring as many teenagers for afterschool jobs anymore like they did when I was growing up) what do you think is going to happen?
--ALL STUDIES show that all the negative activity & stats occur within the first 3-5 hours after a kid gets out of school. That's gangs, drugs, sex, violent attacks etc...
I think it's great that you and your family are doing so great but perhaps you can have some more empathy for the majority of Americans who aren't afforded the same wealth of resources that apparently you have avail to you...and most importantly, don't contribute the the huge mis-conception that money isn't an issue, it is, a HUGE issue, for schools, for programs, and especially for non-two parents families (but hell, I see alot of two parent families that are also struggling)
I do honestly believe the best thing is for the government to pass the law for school vouchers. Then we could send our kids to the schools, (private or public) where the schools don't teach political agendas and stop trying to teach my kids there is no GOD, and punish them for talking about GOD is school.
Some of these stupid schools have kids with their gay clubs to meet in schools, but won't have anything to do with GOD on the school property!!!
PLEASE do not expect people other than yourself to teach your child your beliefs about a GOD. You may disagree with my beliefs, or the beliefs of his or her teacher. Would you want a Muslim or a Buddhist, or a Shintoist to teach your child his or her concepts of God? Would you prefer a Protestant or a Catholic approach to the discussion of religion? Would you want an atheist to teach your child his beliefs?
We each have our own beliefs. Teachers in public schools should not be expected to teach your child anything about God, because his or her beliefs may conflict with your or with my beliefs. Your child can pray privately in his public school and no one can interfere with this. However, I do not want fellow students to attempt to persuade one another to accept religious beliefs that a parent may not approve.
Any group of students with similar interests should have the right to congregate together and to engage in social activities that are legal for persons in their age groups, provided the parents of the individual students involved in the activity do not object. This should be applied to students with religious interests. However, students should not try to persuade others to join their groups, and this is especially important in the instances of religion and of sexual preference, as most parents want to instruct their children in such areas. However, it must be understood that persons are often able intellectually to decide what interests they wish to explore as early as age 14. A wise parent will allow such exploration, provided that his child can come to him or her to also explore the wisdom of pursuing this interest. Children that cannot discuss an issue with a parent will find others, usually peers, that they can turn to for advice. Peers are often not able to present an informed, balanced, approach to an issue.
In the long run, one's child will make his choices and have to live with the consequences thereof. As a parent, I want him or her to be as fully informed of the effects of his or her decisions and thus to make choices that are likely to be comfortable for him or her.
"The people who graded im With F are the same idiots that love John McCain, George Bush and Sara Palin. Its people like you that have nothing to offer this country "
And it's people like you who take what they had to offer to this country and flush it down the drain.
There are more options than just public schools versus private school. We have chosen to homeschool, the highest form of parental involvement. Yes my children get social time with other children, art, PE, foreign language, science, history, and they have extra curricular group activities. This is America, the land of the free, and if you don't like what is standard there are numerous other choices. By the way many private schools have need bases and academic based scholarships. I do believe in competition between schools, in states where vouchers have been used the public schools improved dramatically.
Someone posted that longer school hours would likely lead to higher drop out rates, I agree. The brain can only handle so much information at a time. And kids need to have time to be kids and just play. We put way too much on our children with all the activities and play dates and such. Parents need to get involved and be parents.
Are you kidding me? You are actually grading Obama after only 100 days? You think he can clean up the mess the Bush administration left behind in 100 days?
Catch a clue the only way this country is going to move forward is if the media helps direct us there...enough of the negative reporting!! The media is fully responsible for this CRASH if you ask me... they LOVE dirty laundry...remember that song from the 80's? Oh, how true it is...shame on the media!
Now, leave Obama alone and let him do his thing...this mess is going to take years to dig out of!
Shane-Shame. Shame on you for not appreciating quality education. A number of African nations are now ahead of the USA in quality education. Many of our eight graders don't know the names of the first president of the USA, the governors of their states, the capital of the USA, and those of their states! What's wrong with promoting quality education? We just sit here, bragging that we are the greatest nation in the world. That was in the past. Truth be told, the quality of education we have now doesn't make us the greatest in the world. Our colleges are staffed with Asian and African lecturers. A large percent of our nurses are from the so-called "3rd World Nations." The nations we called the 3rd World are gradually catching up with us, and we are gradually becoming the largest 3rd World nation. Let's face reality, just this once.

What’s better an intelligent Muslim
or a fascist ignorant Christian?
Name calling is fun and sooo fulfilling, isn't it? Just so you know, most of us gave that up before puberty. How about actually writing down your beliefs cuz, I found your last post to be kida confusing... silly me, I know... :P
He knows absolutely nothing about anything!! What a horrible disgrace and failure!! This was not the time to experiment with electing a man of color just for that sake!!
I understand exactly what chenz is saying...voting for someone based on the color of their skin is racist. Simple enough to understand. Unfortunately, it isn't a two-way street as is SHOULD be.
I hear them say that ignorance is bliss....so you must be one extremely happy person if you think that that was the reason for voting for President Obama. How about a change of doing things , how about stop lining the pockets of the rich on the backs of the poor. How about making sure that Jack and Jill and yes the little black kids get a equal shot at a good education. Read more and you may learn what the world is really about.
THANK YOU, alfie!!! what a profound revelation!
Kay, if you think Obama can do anything to improve the lives of innocent children who have no parental backing you must be banking on Obama being the return of the Messiah. careful who you're calling ignorant.
How about stop taking my hard earned income that I need to support my family to give it to some lazy idiot who won't get a job because it is easier to let the middle man support him!!!!!! My kids go with out so the welfare system can support all the people who voted for a plagorizing wanna be! Can We Do It--Yes We can! Hello, don't you idiots watch Bob the Builder! My 5 year old figured he was a fraud long ago.
Let's see: 1. He did not invade the wrong country 2. He did not create a trillion dollar deficit 3. He did not ignore science 4. He did not ignore alternative sources of Saudi oil. 5. He did not start the wall-street bail out. And the list goes on of some very major situations he was handed, 100 days ago!
So , you would perfer another old white man to destroy this country as the last one did. Huh.
the poor need to get off their ass and go to work, the rich got there because they worked hard took chances didnt make excusese and realized the american dream, it is the rich that employ 95% of america. keep raising taxes on the rich and watch the unemployment numbers clime!!!
Thinking that having a black president is a wasteful 'experiment' is probably one of the most racist things I've read. It implies he more than likely can't do the job purely based on his race. How American of you.
terrified, you ARE ignorant and a bigot if you equate giving 'little black children' an 'equal shot at a good education' to them not having any 'parental backing'. The operative term in this dilemma would be 'socio-economic'....and it yes, it also affects 'Jack and Jill'. Look it up.
Exactly what did Alfie say??? Nothing worth printing. If the President was elected solely on the color of his skin then evey election is a racist election. Every President in the past has been elected based on the color of their skin because they have all been Caucasian.
Kimberlee, you can't be working too hard if you have time to watch Bob the Builder and pick uo on catch phrases. You seem a bit angry because he may have used Bob's phrase, I'm sure he doesn't mind. So, whose on welfare? : )
What is it that you know that will get this country back on it's feet that could have gotten you into the seat he holds? Nothing yourself, right? He has only had the position for how many days and you want to judge him based on pass error's other Presidents that have screwed this country for the length of time that they had in office(George Bush)?????? This has nothing to do with color. It's about getting Amercia back on it's feet and standing strong. People need to start looking beyond the color of man and see the individual for whom they really are.
I'm not a racist but all this time a white man has held the helm of president and what does america show for it today? Nothing! But, because an afro american holds the position he is screwing it up. NOT!!!!!!!
Such a boldly stupid comment. I voted for Obama because he was the better choice, NOT because he is black. chenz62, did you vote for McCain because he's white, or because he's NOT black? That's obviously how you choose your leaders based on your comment.
Here's some facts of life that have been true since humans decided to walk uprite. There will always be the haves and have nots, the strong will take from the weak, anything given to someone without working for it will be unappreciated, humans are programmed to take the easy road out, if there are more then 2 people in a meeting you'll never come to a consensus, Socialism does not work, power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutly, everyone lies, cheats and steals, people choose their roll in life, and not born into it, and the only difference between humans and wild animals is the ability to choose to do what is right or what is wrong. Jack and Jill decided to burn down the school house long ago and if your waiting or think government can solve a problem you've got a long wait. If you want change then the people need to make it happen not polititians. Politians are only interested in one thing and that is to be re-elected. We the people in the last election gave too much power to the left wing. Giving this much control to either the right or left is detrimental to the US. God Help us, we'll need it.
So how is this different than any other Presidential election. It was OK to elect White presidents that were drug users, womanizers, embezzelers, thieves, alcoholics, and liars but not a highly educated Black man that is more educated and analytical than any other president that we've had in recent years -- especially GWB. Remember who dug this deep hole this country is in. A white man ran this country in to the ground in 8 years. Obama hasn't even been in office for 60 days and he's considered by some a failure. Good way to move into the 21st century. When are you going to stop making decisions based on what you hear from those with a proven track record of not give a dang about you, your family, or how you have to life as long as their pockets remain fat. You Chenz62 and others are lost in the sauce -- put the pipe down you've rotted your brain
I agree with that comment. Mr. Obama has done SO much more good in 50 days than the idiot-stick that just left office accomplished in 8 years! I believe he's at least trying to fix our country's economy, instead of running it the rest of the way into the ground. I truly believe he's sincere and is sympathetic to our country's people. He genuinely seems to care, which is alone, a step up from where we were before this election. I think if given a chance, he will do more good things for this country. He's young, ambitious, and intelligent enough to get the job done.
What in the world does his color have to do with the mess we are in? He surely can't do any worse than those that have gone before him especially the man who just left.
You are really in a wrong country. If you feel the the majority of the voters in the last election were wrong. Your racisim is not contagious but contaminated.
Poor Steve. How can you even face life with such a negative, distorted view of human kind. Obviously in your experience you're seen an abundance of evil, selfishness, and cruelty and it has damaged your ability to believe in the goodness of people. Humans are not programmed to take the "easy road out" but evidently you have learned that behavior and are now surrounding yourself with those who share your cynicism.
How can you ask God for help when you express such scorn for His most loved and greatest act of creation...mankind.
I agree 100% and then some..Obama doesn't know what the hell he is doing! What were you thinking people when you voted for him? Are you that stupid?? McCain would've done a better job and George W as well.....well, there is your "vote for Hope" persident that YOU chose....what a mistake.
Pat, even God was not pleased with mankind i.e the great flood so please don't bring God in to discussions of mans failings, so open your eyes to reallity is there good of course, but there is evil also and to blind yourself to that is just wrong.
Let's see: 1. He did not invade the wrong country 2. He did not create a trillion dollar deficit 3. He did not ignore science 4. He did not ignore alternative sources of Saudi oil. 5. He did not start the wall-street bail out. And the list goes on of some very major situations he was handed, 100 days ago!
hey what the hell are you talking about? invade the wrong coutry? 1. saddam was a madman just like hitler who MURDERED MILLIONS OF INNOCENT PEOPLE! should we have left hitler in power?2. hes spent almost 1 trillion dollars in less than 2 months. and the list goes on on how he will ruin this nation. you need to get over george bush and get your facts straight you moron. oh yeah and the market plummets everytime he opens his mouth
Wow! First of all, I could care less if Obama was black or white or green. I didn't vote for him, because I didn't/don't agree with his stance on a lot of issues or trust his lack of experience. Maybe some didn't vote for him, because of the color of his skin and I feel just as sick about those fools. Prior to Obama's nomination, people had two, old white guys to choose from and were "stuck" voting on the issues...but are some of you seriously trying to tell me that NO ONE voted for the first time in their lives for Obama just because he was black? Do you really think that number doesn't far out-weigh the opposite? Really? Wow...talk about ignorance being bliss.
Libra 65-If you want to tAke the heart out of a nation rewrite its history. If you don't believe this is the best nation on earth and our founding fathers should be held in very high esteem. Our schools and textbooks are rewriting history to villify the very thing that made it great. Did they do everything right? No, discrimination against women, slavery was wrong, but they made our constitution where those wrongs could be righted.
All those white presidents have made our nation the best countries to live in.
It's amazing to me all the haters in this post or should I say uneducated, bandwagonning dimwits!...Where were you when Bush (a white man, since that seems to still be an issue) was burying this country?
You talk about what President Obama has done or hasn't done in his first 50 day...what about what Bush did in his first six weeks?! He managed to get us trillons in deficit, in only six weeks and long before 9-11 happened, despite Clinton handing the country over to him with a surplus and someohow in that short six weeks managed to piss off most of our international allies...the remaining 8 years was just a hiddeous snowball...
All you Obama haters have seriously short memories (attention spans) or perhaps a pension for spouting drivel wthout checking facts and of course, the age old adage of just hating someone bc someone told you should...where were all these passionate, angry voices when Bush/Cheney/Rove/Rumsfeld were running this country in the ground? Were you screaming about what a "white man" was doing? Where you at all concerned about the economy then? Where you drawing the comparisons to hitler (as you should have been bc -- I speak as a person who has touched the walls of a concentration camp as was able to see first hand from both the jewish and german perspective what hitler did and the similiarity to what Bush did is UNCANNY) Where has your voice of self-righteous, indignation been after thousands of young soldiers were being brought back, coffin after coffin? soldiers, I might add, that are mostly black & latino, dying needessly to fight for your freedom to have your racist views & make your stupid unfounded statements...WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? and head up ass, is not an acceptable answer, albet the likely truth...
You seem to only ever have part of the facts (if any at all) rarely the WHOLE. You've been fed fox news so long, you no longer recognize the truth...that's most of your problems...that and the fact that many of you are racist f_cks who feed off of fear and half truths.
TRY INDEPENDENT THOUGHT, you might like it and I promise you won't melt (er, actually, you might)
and PLEASE look up socialism/communism so you can stop making the ignorant comparisons...if you only knew how stupid you sound when you regurgitate that argument!
that's what this all boils down to...all you conservatives/republicans/racist (whichever shoe fits) need to give yourselves a mental and emotional enema...let all that ignorant, unjustified, unfounded, non-fact supporting BULLSH_T go!!! It's not helping you and it's not helping the country...
Comparing Bush to Hitler? I don't see the connection...please clarify. That is if you can bring your emotions down to have a rational discussion on something instead of blowing your proverbial verbal top with profanity, Eyes Rollin'.
He did not create a trillion dollar deficit
No he just spent that with his stimulus bill he wanted passed by his Democratic controlled Congress .. a trillion dollars gone in what? 1 month..at least it took Bush 8 years to spend that not 1 month...
I am a disgusted democrat who is sick of all the spending these stupid politicans continue to do...spend spend ...raise taxes raise taxes destroy businesses ( which by the way is how many are employed ..hello people wake up )
Alfie - how very pot calling the kettle black of you...
I mentioned Hitler bc someone on this thread compared Obama to Hitler which is obsurd bc as I said, if there is a comparison to be drawn it's with Bush and this is why:
When I was paying my respects at Dachau, a German friend drove me but didn't want to come inside initially (the German-Jewish relationship is very much like the Black/White relationship here) eventually she decided to join me...in the memorial section, there is a room full of GIGANTIC newspapers...it's in fact, copies of ALL of the newspapers articles of Hitlers propaganda...all in German obviously and my friend was good enough and patient enough to read them to me...
and essentially, Hitlers entire tactic was to use fear, hatred, and by exploiting poverty to manipulate Germans into believing that Jews were a threat...I mean literally every paper was saying, they hate us, our way of life, we have to stop them before they get us etc...
My german friend shared with me what she remembered her grandmother, who lived in that time, as saying, that at that time the country was so poor and all anyone knew is that this man hitler brought jobs...by the time people figured out what was truly going on with the Jews, people were terrified to stand up...
my German friend and I agreed, it's so obvious, now while we were reading the papers back to back to back what hitler was trying to do...then we also discussed, the fact that most people don't get every paper to read, just bits here, bits there...they never had the whole truth...until it was too late
and that is very much, uncannily so, how Bush was running things, he used and exploited American's fear and grief after 9-11 to the bitter end. He used that fear to erode away our civil liberties, to send thousands of people to their deaths in a war he never could justify with actual proof (to this day), to crash our economy while him & his arrogant cronies got rich on our backs...and the list goes on.
Obama, at least, is trying to fix some of this crap...and no, it's not going to happen in 50 days or 4 years but, at least, we can make some forward progress!
Chenz62, it seems that the truth will out eventually. It does not seem to be about whatever plan is being suggested/ encouraged or put in place by the President, it really is about the colour of his skin according to you. Therefore if McCain had won and done the same things that President Obama is doing now then it would be ok, the way to go, right decision, on the right track etc etc etc.
From the look of things, therefore, it really does not matter what President Obama does there are many who do not want him to prevail or turn the economy around because he is a black man. Hey way to go bro, cut off your nose to spite your face even if it forces the rest of the populace to end up in the crapper. LOL
The President must be doing something good as so many are already panning him. LOL
Kiss your money goodbye -
er, first, the money is already gone, there isn't much left to kiss
and second, when Bush took office there was $230 billion surplus...Bush blew that in his first six weeks...by the end of his two terms...there was a 60% increase leaving a us with the first ever trillion dollar deficit at $10.65 trillion...and once the second half of the $750 billion he authorized in October is added, the defcit will be $11.025 trillion...
no matter how you slice it, we went from good to horrifying on his watch, from the possibilty of paying off the national debt in 2012-2015 to maybe never being to pay it off and the country is now in the sh_tter... period. no way to justify it. no denying it.
This election was nothing more than writing another page in history, it was time for a change..........those for voted for him..................you wanted change, you got it, for better or worse........it's your baby..........good luck with all that! If the world survives the next four years with the Almighty Messiah, Osama Obama, oh I'm sorry, Barack Hussein Obama (notice a trend there?), I promise you I will be on the Republican campaign trail and I bet all of you will be too, trying to fix the problem YOU put into office, only it will be with a lot less money, because in 100 days, the Almighty Messiah has already spent your lifetime of earnings, and your children's, and their childrens.....etc......
Eyes Rollin'
I appreciate your rage but you must first be able to see the other side of the coin before your arguments can make sense and your language is not construed as some schoolyard bully name calling. Conservatives simply do not want big government and believe in the individuals right to succeed and fail. Liberals want big govt and think the govt can take care of them better than they can take care of themselves. We get there in 2 different ways DEMS like to spend and conservatives like to cut taxes and lower spending albeit they lost site of that and there are still some on the party that are not going along with core principles)
One thing that is not true is that conservatives are homophobe, sexist, racists, mean people. All of our poiticians are culpable in this-conservatives and democrats. Once everyone starts to realize this we can focus our anger at the real source and that is our politicians-all of them.
Your citation regarding your German museum could very easily be compared to what Obama (and every politician does) is doing as well. Exploiting fear and anxiety to get things passed in a hurry. Bush did it and Obama is doing it...Isn't this exactly what Obama's administration is doing to the rich with his class warfare? Rahm Emmanuel quoted as saying "Don't ever waste a good crisis." They are spreading propaganda demonizing bankers, the rich, and all CEO's when our govt set the precedent for this breakdown by giving huge incentives for risky loans and forced banks to comply to a quota.
Second, it is naive to think Obama is going to give a break to people making under the "rich" mark of 250K per year. He has increased your energy taxes so your bills will be higher and I guarantee you that is only the beginning. See he needs his fervent followers for poll numbers now so he can pass this garbage. His war on the rich and all of this spending is going to cause inflation (this is not a consevative thought this is from a bipartisan watchdog group). Businesses are not going to take the taxes off their bottom line profitability. Businesses will simply raise prices, layoff/not give raises/move businesses overseas.
Quoting You: Hitlers entire tactic was to use fear, hatred, and by exploiting poverty to manipulate Germans into believing that Jews were a threat...I mean literally every paper was saying, they hate us, our way of life, we have to stop them before they get us etc...
The rich are all greedy and caused the mess we are in off the backs of poor people? please. THe rich are making everyone else poor? PLease. What is making people poor is their dependence on the govt. It is a horrible thing to climb out of poverty and it takes hard work not a handout. If you talk to a self made rich person not one of them will tell you they got there through handouts or help.
The implications are severe. We are going to see a spike in the overall economy based on propaganda. In a couple years watch out inflation. I am enjoying the desperation of obama followers holding on to the short honeymoon you are going to have before you see what is going on and it will become apparent in 2-3 years. Pleading his case with whining it's only been 50 days.
Obama is a typical corrupt Chicago politician who took favors from criminals to buy a house, get his wife a 200k per year raise by awarding a multi million dollar earmark to her employer, and affiliated himself with haters and the worst racist I have ever seen who hates america. We still have no idea who he was during his college years. You can put a title on his name but you can take out the shady.
He wants to talk to the Taliban, and put terrorists in our backyard to have a constitutional trial, we are staring down the face of several tests
Atlas Shrugged
Amen, John Galt. Definitely an Atlas Shrugged sort of situation. What will this country do when all of the movers and shakers are no longer here due to being taxed and regulated to death? It is extremely scary to think about...
When the 'movers & shakers' feel they no longer can stand the taxes & regulation, they'll be replaced with truly productive individuals working because they LIKE what they are doing HONESTLY.
When the movers and shakers are no longer here because they can no longer stand or accept the taxation or regulations, they will go to some other country where they will try to screw up that economy. The only problem with that is, that not all of these countries are all that forgiving or blinded by wealth or fortune and thus these movers and shakers will find that they were better off in the USA, where if you have enough money you don't go to jail, or if you do it will be a country club style jail. LOL
By the way a lot of these other countries have lost a lot of money in these failed institutions and are probably not happy about it. I doubt they would be welcoming with open arms the folks that caused them so much grief.
I believe that they still cut off hands for stealing in the Arab countries. Don't they send people to jail or hang them for bringing harm to the country and its economy in China? The tainted milk guys found their govt was not forgiving of the harm they caused. The Europeans would just as soon arrest them for the same reason and no doubt find a few other charges besides. They do send wrong doers to jail there. LOL Perhaps they may want to go to Russia and take their chances which is not all that great there either. If they go to the islands because they believe they can get over on the people there, they may find that they may have to pay our a lot of money on security which may end up being more than they would have paid in taxes it the USA. LOL. I doubt that South America would be all that taken with them either. Perhaps they can go have a chat with President Chavez LOL.
Where are these movers and shakers going to go to have a semblance of a normal greedy tax free life they are used to without paying for it except staying here and making our lives miserable? LOL
I give him a B. He has faltered a bit, but look at the mess that he took over. The other administation has their heads in the sand as this country fell apart. The President is thed glue that will put us back together for the better
The mess he "inherited" is a mess he was a part of. There's no way you can just blame Bush for this mess. Congress HAS to take responsiblity for it as well!
That's right, Congress has to take responsibility. They were in control the past two years and failed miserably!! Their approval rating was lower than President Bush's.
But you can blame Bush and all those who followed him down his yellow brick road. Unfortunately, now none of us are in Kansas any more - i.e. we're all in a different, and not a better place.
So much has been destroyed and desicrated over the last 8 years that it is going to take a long time, a lot of work... and a recognition of exactly how this all happened (tax cut with huge off-the-budget war spending, and a total lack a regulation and common sense) by all of us - including those who caused it.
It's about time we all (and this includes Congress) got down to work, not fighting.
"That's right, Congress has to take responsibility. They were in control the past two years and failed miserably!! Their approval rating was lower than President Bush's."
That's right! They failed miserably to overcome the record number of filibusters the GOP used. They failed miserably to overcome Bush's vetoes.
And lets not forget to hold congress responsible for the previous 6 years, when the GOP was in charge, where they rubber stamped everything Bush wanted, no questions asked.
To destroy something a lot had to be in place and accomplished. The last 8 years were the strongest economic growth in the history of the world which is why this correction is so painful. Bush didn't blame Clinton for 9/11 or the internet bubble burst mess he was left with.  As most people know presidents have limited impact on the economy. Let the free market prevail--less intervention--less taxes--stop bailing out evryone--but institute much more regulation of congress and the SEC---thye're completely inept. Wasn't Sarbanes-Oxley going to prevent all of this corruption?
Those who speak about regulation should do thier homework. It was the Clitonites and people like Barey Frank that never wanted to see regulation. This was how they profited. Congress has had this country in check and it is time for the people who care to take action and remove these long term idiots, start with fat Teddy and then start the steam roller.
I totally agree with most in this thread we need to clean out the house congress is so corrupted that is where most of the money went to they are all greedy and dishonest. Maybe the American people will vote the crooks out of congress next election.
thats right the country was doing pretty damn good until 2007 when the dems took power
It was not because of the "Dems" taking power in 2007 that caused the financial situation we are in. Too much greed by too many people is what caused the problem and it finally caught up with everyone. I am tired of the implication it is the fault of any one individual or group, we are ALL responsible to varying degrees. We have become accustomed to charging on credit the things we cannot afford the instant we want them, buying above our means on every level. Even those who make their payments often make minimum payments and do not save money in regular savings accounts, under the mattress, whatever. It is the NOW mentality - we see it NOW, we want it NOW and we buy it NOW. There is no budgeting and saving. This is a wakeup call for everyone, and while the economy is bad, perhaps we will learn a lesson on greed, potentially making us a better nation. I am tired of some acting like our new president should “fix” everything in just 50 days, and most of all fix it the way they want to see it done with no other options being acceptable. Why don't those who are not happy with the plans put out by the President come up with some concrete ideas, and I am not talking about more tax cuts or a small check that goes out to everyone. Let's talk about sustainability and new jobs. It does not seem constructive to talk about the color of the President's skin, or other irrelevant issues when we face so many problems as a nation. This is an adult situation and it is up to us to act like adults and address issues we face with constructive ideas rather than posting hateful comments and using everything as a political soapbox. In addition, many of the comments reflect a lack of research or understanding on some of the issues and sound more like talking points picked up from someone else rather than a deep understanding of an issue. Yes, the national debt is horrible, but it did not get out of control 50 days ago when the President took office. It makes sense for the future of our kids to look at creating jobs to help the environment, allowing teachers to receive higher wages for doing a better job rather than relying only on the seniority system, and reduction on foreign oil, alternative energy to lower toxins in the air, and balance that against the debt they will inherit. Our kids deserve more than to hear their parent/aunts/uncles and those we elected fought over everything and could not reach a consensus on anything and thus passed up a chance to improve things for them. We all need to grow up, open our closed minds, and try to understand the viewpoint of others as long as they are constructive.
When folks are handing out blame on the downturn in the economy and giving the impression that this implosion was caused by 'poor' people ( code word for black especially or people of colour/and colourful immigrants- legal or illegal. LOL ) who supposedly bought homes they could not afford, need to go research their info before posting.
It was not only the dreaded so called 'poor' people who bought these homes, it was 1. a lot more of the not so 'poor' people of all hues who either bought homes they could not afford, with so much square footage that they did not need or could pay the utilities or taxes for, with various questionable financing plans ( 80/20; ARMs, interest only etc) and/or refinanced their homes or using it as a line of credit to either send their children to college or to buy second homes or whatever. Some of these folks seem to still be able to get these credit lines and are still appear to be using this as a means of financing their children's college education. I doubt that many of the 'poor' people would have qualified back then or now for this sort of credit line, strange as it may seem as they were already having a hard time 'qualifying' for most traditional mortgages and interest rates in the first place even with great credit ratings. LOL . Many of these 'poor' people and others used other methods like State sponsored homeownership programs and through other charitable organization like for eg. Habitat to purchase a house. (Some used the usual traditional routes and are having difficulties and some are not). Whether the folks that used these means to qualify for an affordable house have been defaulting on their loans have not been stated so far. So I very well doubt that those 'poor' people who purchased homes through these other means were the cause of the housing bubble or bust. LOL But that is the problem with generalizing about any particular group of home purchasers, it tends to incorporate all of the people in that particular group of people in the equation even when some should not be included there in the first place.
2. Many builders who over built and/or built those ugly 'all homes look alike' mega large homes and overpriced condos that after a while not many people wanted or would buy but they were still building - although they must have known by at least 2007 that the market was in a bubble and forclosures had already started- ,
3. Many realestate investors who got greedy and went in over their heads and who bought up many of the affordable homes, remodelled them and returned them to the market at moonbase prices, and were then stuck with many of these homes including those that they had not yet refurbished when the bubble burst and unable to onload them even as they went deeper into debt.
4. By the way the housing/realestate market was just a part of the whole economic bubble that burst. There were other major factors that helped to cause the meltdown like for example the skyrocketing cost of oil in turn affecting the price of food etc, those usury interest rates that could suddenly raise to 30+% and sneaky credit card rules that punished even the those folks with excellent credit and paid on time and/or did not carry a balance.LOL
One could keep on adding to the list of the many things that pushed folks/economy over the edge like the off budget wars, deregulations of the various industries at the expense of the majority of people, outsourcing of jobs, people earning less while working more and paying more for everything including shelter, food, utilities and other staples, ever increasing health care cost and health insurance for mediocre care and higher education cost, the shutting down of industries and businesses and sending them overseas resulting in ongoing job losses, entrenched unemployment and under employment, kids staying home alone while their parents are trying to earn a living etc, too many people being locked up in prisons for too long lengths of time and no job opportunities when they are released, but many folks already know of what I speak so why keep repeating these things. Lol
All this yet blaming President Obama for all the problems in the country even although he just took office January 20, 2009, trying to bring about change that some do not want, not doing it fast enough by others, even although he is trying to bring about change of intrenched ideas and actions, modus operandi that have been there for the past several years and being hampered by his new best friends the republicans.LOL Hmmmmm Well he has his work cut out for him, doesn't he.
Perhaps this is what is called "governing while black" huh. Ha ha haaa...... you get pulled over, questioned and charged even although you did noting wrong to warrant this violation in the first place.. thus his efforts are either being accused, criticized, panned and labelled negatively by those who have their own agenda like - they do not like his colour/ race and thus this makes him inexperience and unworthy of the nation's trust even although the populace of that nation voted for him knowing about his colour etc to begin with and the majority of these folks are supportive of him and the policies/changes that he is trying to make.
He must be doing something good with all the criticizm that is being thrown his way. Nothing like when some folks call a person a socialist. Just goes to show he is working for the good of the masses and not just for the previlidged few. Can leave that to those republicans who are just talking on the behalf and at the behest of their masters and their lobbiests. LoL
Stop with the inherited mess nonsense. We are exactly where the 544 incompetent individuals, that control every aspect of our existence, want us to be. Congress and Congress alone control spending. The Executive only proposes budgets. If I'm not mistaken, Nancy and her cronies have long been in control of that before Obama came into office.
Read this to see just how long this government has been bent on the destruction of our American Civilization, and to realize that Obama is bent on the same course.
He was emotionally elected. He's has no common sense, he's a liberal muslin and a wolf in sheep's clothing. Nothing else to add that says it all.
Emotionally elected? Thank you Republican. Glad you all lost, finally. Bush and you people did this to the country. Now sit back and take it.
You have really said nothing that is fact. It would seem that you gave a better description of yourself than your Presdient. Live with it, you did it with President Bush and he even turned his back on the troops in Iraq!
Why do we continually play the blame game? This is not a Republican nor a Democratic problem. The American People are suffering, no matter what their politics. If you do your homework, you may find that a Democratic President started the housing crisis with policies that he signed into law. I'll admit, the Republican administration did nothing to stop the faucet when things started to flood, however, our current president is simply putting duct tape on the faucet, when in reality, the faucet needs to be replaced, and the contractor that does the replacement is out of business do to NO COMMERCE!
I agree He is a liberal muslim. It is easier to destroy this country from his position than in a hijacked airplane. I did not vote for him but I believe in giving him a chance since He was elected. However, his budget proposals will change the US from a democray to socialism. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are just as bad. Some of his proposals might not be as bad if the economy were in good shape. They are trying to implement all their liberal policies during the worst possible time.
It is absurdly hilarious that these conservative idiots come on here and pose as if they were going to give him a chance to begin with. B. Obama has not even reached the 2 month mark as president and people are already writing him off. Are you dolts looking for these issues to be recitified over a short period even though they developed over a much greater period of time? Apparently many must rely on their selective memory when formulating arguments about what Barack has not done thus far or are simply spewing off at the mouth despite having a true understanding of how to approach implementing policy meant to rectify what is currently wrong with this country.
I am a moderate, and there are stances our new president has made with which I do not agree; however, I am also aware that I am no expert (and thus the majority of my diagreeance is predicated on personal...read "not completely supported" opinion) and have enough intellectual fortitude to not allow some biased media personality (cough cough Rush Limbaugh....cough cough Racehl Madow) to completely dictate my train of thought. I am ready and willing to sit and listen to both sides of an argument; however, in the end I would prefer to do my own research before I make dumb remarks like most of you have done so thus far.
Keep it up. I think, for now I will grab my popcorn and lawn chair and absorb the hilarity of it all!!!!
If Obama and the Dems are going to make changes, at least let them be good ones! From what I've seen so far, the changes are absolutely distrastrous........it would take waaaay too long enumerate them here. (in case you want something to chew on here, the keyword is socialism...Obama is definitely leading us in that direction...and it doesnt work...my Canadian and British friends can tell you that...they're shaking their heads at us). He's gonna make the Bush years look pretty good......wait and see, it WILL happen.
Well said, Kathy! I was ill when he was elected and am even more so now. He knows nothing about anything except for his "gift of gab" He schmoozed the American people with empty promises of "change" and now he's running around like a chicken with his head cut off. I believe he has A.D.D.! He can't stay focused on the important issue of the economy. A smart president surrounds himself/herself with equally smart (or more so)people. He has surrounded himself with a circus! I don't want our economy to fail but I hope the American people wake up and start the impeachment process. There is still time to save ourselves and our economy.
You have no proof that he's ever been or is now a Muslim. Stop repeating lies that the GOP tried to use during the campaign.
jerrycook do you have proof hes not!! besides the lies he continuously tells.
JerryL.Cook He attended "Islamic Studies" while in Indonesia whether a Catholic school or not it is illegel to teach a muslim the bible in islamic countries. He knows the Islamic call to prayer and didn't start or become a Christian until Rev Wright in the early 80's (and Rev Wrights church teaching are are based on "black liberation" philosophy - "Black Value System"....) so he has never been a Christian.
Such venom....... No solutions offered or even suggested. A sick and divided America, please try harder to heal your self. Look inward with thoughtfulness and humility.
hey...is Rush Limbaugh in here...oh wait...his audience is!! LOL
Wow, I studied Islam, and I have been a Christian since birth...does the fact that I dared to expose myself to understanding another faith mean that I am no longer a Christian? You people are ridiculous! Educate yourselves and stop the racist rhetoric!
If you look back at history you'll notice that most Presidents (regardless of party affiliation) gauge their success by the "American Dream" and homeownership. This bubble in Real Estate can primarily be traced to certain "Hot Markets" in the Country, and if values had continued to increase at the astronomical pace they were in the past few years the homeowners wouldn't have defaulted on the Mortgage, and would have refinanced at a fixed rate (or as history has shown, another Adjustable Rate Mortgage). I believe we've evolved into a society of "I WANT IT NOW" mentality, and the fact that the Credit Market has tightened up has created a backlash that should have been expected. When we've all taken out Credit Card Loans, and our Automobile Loans are "upside down", we own nothing to support that debt...This has truly been a correction for the over-indulgence we've maintained as a society.
As far as President Obama's part in this. He's like an Ostrich with his head in the Sand, pretending that if he ignores it the problem will go away. The problem is that it exists, and the more promises you make to give homeowners a "free-ride", then the more people will default on their loans. We would have been better off if he'd just divided up the money he's spent in the Stimulus packet and applied it toward the outstanding debt, or defaulted debt, of every taxpayer in the U.S., then the tightened credit policy wouldn't be as painful to society as a whole, and if the Banks were not forced into the Losses they might be in a healthier position today. This could be a refundable tax credit, paid back over 15 years, but the intent being to correct the Mortgage Back Security issues and try to "unwind" some of the complexities associated with them.
You're pathetic and ignorant! He's not a Muslim how about you check your facts out about what his religious beliefs are before you state something.
His mother wasn't Muslim his father who are from KENYA! was muslim and that's as far as it goes.
Seriously people like you are the base of what is evil and wrong in this world.
This is the United States of America! It does not matter what, if any, your religion is. I agree on this with General Colin Powell & the Constitution. I could be wrong, it might be the Declaration of Independence, and , unlike some commentators here, I'm willing to confess my fallibility - on documents, not principle
rebecca come on now this isn't about who is republican or a democrat, who is who what color of skin you have or who won for god sakes its our country that is going down hill. everyone has an opinion but it isn't opinions that make the country better its when were all standing together realizing yes there were bad choices made but at this point there is not alot that can be changed with us all ganging up on eachother. its gotta be worked out together great minds think alike not negative cruel ones.
Oh Connie - you frightened little idiot. Follow along, follow along, follow along.... Repeat after your leaders: bah, bah, bah.....
wow, your post makes you look pretty ignorant. Muslim? where do you get your information, the heritage fund?
I'm truly amazed by how you can identify a lack of common sense when your statement makes no sense.
Liberal he may be. And I thank God for it, since we've seen what the Republicans and Conservatives can do after 8 years.
But, to accuse President Obama of being Muslim shows both your pathetic ignorance of Islam, and shreds your witness if you claim to be a christian. Wow.
Connie Funnell et al, At least the public had some emotion this time round instead of being a bunch of zombies or mindless or brainless emotionless drones pulling the same lever over and over again.
It was good that the public actually had thoughts or emotions and made a decision for themselves instead of the same old same old politics as usual vote, and/or vote the same old way to elect the same old folks no matter what they have accomplished or not or whether they sold the people down the river, of the past. LOL
Trying to put down President Obama or the people who voted for him or put him and the masses intelligence through the shredder, is not going to make the republicans and their party any more attractive to anyone, including to those republicans and democrats or independents who voted for him also.
I thought his agenda was why he was elected. Why wouldn't he try to push it through; he doesn't need to take advantage of the stress we are all feeling; we voted for him because of that stress.
Correction - some voted emotionally...others voted logically and with thoughtful reason. Unfortunately, those people seem to be in the minority.
huh??? The facts are 10 out of 10 idiots voted for the man. He deceived you all.
We did not all vote for him EagleNester, do you have a turd in your pocket? Oh Yeah, that's right you do, many of them.....that is how the inexperienced dumb a** got into office! You were all very misconceived, you will be sorry, watch and see!!
Don't even try and defend his appointment of a tax goof/cheat to head the Treasury Dept., and it just gets worse from there.
I'm glad you mention this because it does show a pattern of white affluent people trying to get over (for all you racist heads who want to keep pointing to blacks & latinos for all things wrong)...
you all want to just dump the blame on Obama for everything, how about personal responsibility...
Obama doesn't need to be defended. You can't look across the office and "know" that your co-worker isn't paying his/her taxes, or if he/she is cheating on their spouse, beating their children or whatever...All of that is personal information...and noone (Obama included) has anyway of knowing if you a person is doing their due diligence...you can only hope that your co-worker you recommend for hiring or promotion is the person they portray themseves to be and in this case, that's what the vetting process is for.
the better statement is why these people excepted the nomination knowing that they had skeletons in their closets and that this would be the MOST thoroughly vetted administration in the history of administrations simply because the President is an African-American...you can best believe that no one was vetted at all for the Bush regime!
He has increased our deficit by trillions and is taking no responsiblity to it. Its not his budget, its still Bush's, as the democrat's say.
connie - your a little out there but thats ok
i cannot see how anyone could have voted for him either
i think that is whaqt your trying to say
What is Obama's plan really? I haven't heard a straight answer from him yet! And where are his priorities..the econom is bad and he is focusing on stem cells and other junk!
When are people going to understand that every industry that has government backing is an industry that is going to retain employees, expand (hopefully) and hire more employees.
Putting the backing of the federal government behind medical research such as stem-cell research means that research companies will thrive which in turn means that those companies may hire new employees and that those employees will earn money and they will pay their taxes and spend their money on cars and houses and vacations.
This is what will get Americans back to work. How about alternative energy companies? Maybe the windmill factories can and will replace automobiles as the major industry in Detroit! Imagine the prosperity and stability that could ensue.
If you haven't heard a straight answer then you haven't been listening. You might want to try it before criticizing what you clearly don't understand.
He has no polotical experience and has ties to many shady characters - some in and out of Washington. The media shoved him down the country's throat without revealing his true lack of character. He is using the economy as a forum for advancing his own agenda, whether they are good for all or not. Some of the country listened to Oprah and now we have a Bozo and his circus running OUR country. Let's take it back!
Theresa, first of all the word is "political". If you really knew what you were talking about then you would have spelled it correctly. You only have your disregard for an African American as "YOUR" President, yes I said it "your " President. This is what guides your anger over the way that things are being handled.
Do you not recall who he is following in office? It took him 4 years to create a mess and another 4 years to solidify it. This is not his mess he only inherited it. It is going to take at least 10 years to fix this and it may not even be done then. So sit back and scratch your a$$ and be glad that as President you can only serve 8 years or you may be in a worse situation than it is already.
AF_VET you paid bloggers know when to jump in to save your big eared scumbag's
ass don't you!!!!
Ed -770642 : you said what I've been thinking this whole page. VET if you served, thank you. I think you need to open your bitter eyes a little though. This man is a socialist, not a American capitalist. He would give your salary to an illegal if he found a way.
I was merely trying to be polite but all walls down, PUNK!!!!
Theresa, you probably speak exactly as you write.
Moresnow, I did what I was expected as a military servicewoman and Ed if I were getting paid I wouldn't be wasting my time with silly chats regarding our President that has only been in office less than 100 days. But would rather be chatting regarding our previous President and why he was allowed to leave such a mess. But then he did receive the publicity of being the most under-rated President that we have had.
That's very interesting, Ed-770642, that you would comment on the "paid bloggers". It is well known that the ones being paid use a six-digit number, plus a name, for 'credit'. Oh, you know, a six-digit number like "770642", and a name, like "Ed". TOOL!
Still delusional I see Alise. The six digits are automatically assigned if the name you enter is already taken...
PLEASE do your homeswork so you'd know what your saying was proven to be false a long time ago. Either we've taught children to type at a very early age or there are a lot of adults on here who don't know how to debate productively. Stop with the name calling - check your facts - KNOW what you're talking about is at the very least - something close to the truth.
theresa i agree with you very much and af-vet everyone has an opinion and just grow up it would do the world some good.
Nothing delusional here, Lacey; any numbering system can serve more than one purpose. Still stalking, though, huh, Lacey?
He is taking advantage of the people for his own agenda. Look at the Ronald Reagan era when he turned things around by doing the opposite of everything Obama is doing. The Obama administration needs to take a history lesson.
Did Ronnie Reagan really turn things around? He spent trillions on defense - Obama just thinks we should spend million on America's most important asset, it's people.
Please!! Give me a break. This is exactly the kind of negativety that we do not need right now.
What about the last 8 years while it didn't stop the Bush Bashing Please!! give us a break
President Obama hasn't taken advantage of anyone. As far as Reagan goes, he was one of the worst Presidents we ever had. He spent more money than any other President before him. He did absolutely nothing for the middle class while he made the rich even richer. My rich neighbor who bragged about never paying a cent in taxes got enough money from Reagan's government tax refund, he was able to take his whole family to Hawaii for 2 weeks on his government check. My refund amounted to $2.00 and all my expenses such as heating, electricity, food etc almost doubled. My pay got cut along with my benefits because of his anti-labor policies and so did my working conditions. I say its long overdue that the rich finally had to pay a few pennies in taxes. I'd like to see all their tax shelters eliminated. This recession/depression would be over in a month.
Wasn't Ronald Regan the poster-president for deficit spending? Sure, he did some great things for us so far as foreign relations go but his spending sure was the beginning of the end of the federal "budget."
Reagan created trickle down economics and large tax breaks for the wealthy and big business. These 2 policies were supposed to stimulate the economy and create jobs. Well sadly enough the money saved by the tax breaks didn't trickle down. Stock holders got larger dividend payments and corporate executives got golden parachutes, more luxury vacations, and the average American began to get laid off because corporations were taking their increased profits caused by paying lower taxes and moving jobs off shore where they could pay lower wages, etc.
When will some of us wake up and realize that the economic theories supported by the Republican Party have been proven over time not to work for the average American -- the American's that get up everyday and go to work, the American that saves their money to make a major purchase, the American that doesn't live above their means, the American that not only wants but expects their children to get a good education. They haven't cared a hoot about any of these Americans. The average American citizen are the saviors of this country. When people are productive they spend, when they spend the economy grows.
How can anyone be upset about making big business accountable for the hand out they get in an attempt to save jobs and pump money back in to the economy? These folks have a track record of taking the governments money and putting it in their pockets. This economy won't survive with almost a million unemployed workers, the economy won't survive when businesses can't get loans to replace stock and pay their employees. Bad loans, foreclosures, soaring unemployment rates, etc., are all results of 8 years of deregulation. The banking industry was able to create all these bad loan programs and then convince hard working Americans that these programs would benefit them. The media, who's controlled by the monied and powerful, wants you to believe that the economy is in the crapper because people have purchased homes that they couldn't afford and guess what -- by the sound of some of these comments, you've fallen for it hook line and sinker. Wake up, do your own research, take a leap and go into unfamiliar territory by having an open mind and forming your own opinion based upon knowledge gathered from numerous sources. Stop being led by the very people who have never done anything to help you that didn't make them a few million on the side.
I seriously think that people would rather see us all live in tent cities and stand in soup lines before they'll do anything to support our current president. Those that feel that way are such a sad lot.
Why is it that Gov't will do better things with our money with higher taxes than WE can do with it and buy products and services? Reagan brought us out of the Carter years with LESS TAXES that brought this Nation to a 30+ year of prosperity and being number one in regards to financial opportunity. Overseas business' came HERE due to labor force and minimal taxes. Now it is time to punish those who do well and those foreign investors will go elsewhere while our Gov't soaks the rich within our borders. The old expression "A poor man never gave me a job."
Your telling me it's okay for the rich to waste money on whatever they want and get bailed out. The rich never offered to help bail out the people who really need help. Instead they ask for our help. How is that fair. President Obama has to clean up the mess that Bush and his people put us in. Now I think you all should just shut up and deal with it. Stop being so racist. People need to grow up. How can you judge somebody for the color of their skin or how they grew up. President Obama doesn't judge your past history. He doesn't judge anybodies past history. Why should you have that right?????
Why is it that a majority of the responses against out president have been rebutted by someone stating that the originator of said statement is a racist? It has nothing to do with the color of his skin!!! Get that through your heads!!!
It is about his unorginized ADD actions he has taken. It's about the lies of transparancy. The millions he readily signed out in the Porkulus bill (make not doubt about it that congress, both Dem and Rep played their own part in that catastrophe, he had a chance to squash the pork but didn't). The slap in the face he gave the British govenment by offering a gift of DVD's that won't even play on their region players while telling them (our biggest ally) that they are no more important than the other 160 somewhat countries we correspond with. I could keep going on, but I have to get to WORK so I can have the money taken away by the upcoming tax increase that EVERYONE will be getting soon.
I have faith our country will succeed. I HOPE that the president will CHANGE his direction soon.
Mom- Dough never brought up race. This is the same ploy used during the campaigns. Disagree with his politics and your a racist? Wake up, if you are a hard working mom, you should be worried about your tax dollars going to those who have scamed the system for years. Put your money back into your pocket, eliminate welfare and pork belly spending. Vote for independent candidates.
Here's a fact for you Obama-maniacs that think the government can spend others $ better... "Despite income ranging from $210,432 - $321,379 over the ten-year period, the Bidens have given only $120 - $995 per year to charity, which amounts to 0.06% - 0.31% of their income." (newsbusters.org) Pathetic. Maybe he justifies it by saying he pays too much in taxes or feels he knows how best to "waste" his money. Just another fact not brought to light by our liberal media.
he cant give that much to charity he has to mantain his BALD head
.31 of Biden's income went to charity -- hummm how much of any of your income did any of you contribute to charity?
To give to charity is an individual choice, therefore the Bidens are free to give to charity if they so choose. If they don't so what? Not everyone give to organized charities. Some folks actually give directly to others. Plus it is their money to do as they feel anyway.
Navycit, the reason some state that some of the folks that are criticizing the President are racist is because of the racist statement they make in their messages. Perhaps you might peruse some of those posts.
Pam, I've given roughly 7 to 10% of my gross income to charity for the last 8 years. I think you will find many conservatives who do. That's just part of being a christian; which makes me doubt the claim that Obama and Biden make to christianity.
Can't believe anyone would give him an "F", he's been in office less than 2 months and already the ultra conservatives are taking him to task -- and for what, trying to clean up George "W"s mess???? Get real people, get behind him, support his efforts and maybe, just maybe we can salvage at least a portion of our investments down the road -- everything takes time -- give him at least 6 months, then start your bellyaching! Where were all you nay sayers 4 / 8 years ago????
Amen....I am sorry for so much negativity. I voted for Bush and although I didn't always agree with him, I didn't bad mouth him. Some people are just sore loosers! The last administration did some things well but they had no concept of the suffering of the middle class. At least I hope that was the case....perhaps they just didn't care? That "I got mine" attitude? If we don't forget about politics and pull together, we are lost. We tried the other way and look what it got us....let's try to support those who are trying to fix the mess.
Linda-- You've been evidently fooled by the six people who control the mainstream media in the US. It was the Clinton administration that brought on this economic collapse with their support of the outragious legislation forcing banks to make untenable home loans to people who could not afford them. Obama supported this and it is his rich friends who have made billions on the backs of americans by this collapse. If he cared about poor people he would sell his four million dollar home(bought with money "loaned" to him by the same Muslim oil shiek who masterminded the UN "oil for food" scam) and give the money to the poor people he defrauded. Instead he has surrounded himself with the same crooks and global nazis that sold out our military secrets to the Chinese (absolutely documented by paper trail to Gore) for reelection money. His real agenda is to make Americans wholly dependent on government and to "buy" votes with the retirement monies of our grandchildren.
Funny I do not see this as only George W's mess. It in my opinion it was several former administrations that got us here . I will give Mr. Bush total credit for the war mess, but on the financial fallout this is the doing of several past presidents, democrat and republican. I further say enough of the four year old behavior by all who are in elected positions, enough "it's not my fault ", " I didn't do it". Grow up and put on your big boy pants! All who on the hill now knew what they were getting into when they ran for election. Stop your whining, and work as an united Americans for the betterment of America. We on main street know this mess did not just happen over night, and we all know it will not resolve over night. Of course, just my opinion it might solve faster if you stopped throwing money at everything and just let it fall to resolve itself naturally. I believe every American possesses the fortitude to find a new career if they are unfortunate to face that fate and this country is strong and on main street at least we will learn from this and never walk down this path again...I hope our elected officials can follow our lead. Sorry to ramble, everyone reading you have a blessed day.
At his rate of spending, America doesn't have 6 months to wait and see how it works out. Common sense and history tells us he is going down the wrong path.
I give him a "F" because he blew money that wasn't technically his to blow- Belongs to you and I and every other tax payer in Amerca. We could have fixed the whole economy with him bailout plan. Give the people the money, they will pay the taxes, pay bills, spend the money to support the failing stores and rebuild itself. No, we give it to banks to lose as they see fit and then by all means, lets just give them more. My great -great -great grandchildren are gonna be fixing his 100 day wreck! But we can all run out and try some stem cell research-maybe we can look younger, slimmer and so on. It is your tax dollars- try it out!
LindA--He's getting an F ( not from me--I was more generous with a C) for what he is proposing not on what he has accomplished. I don't think anyone expected him to accomplish anything in the first 100 days and he hasn't---but we certainly have the abilty to form opinions on the direction he has chosen. No, I can't get behind something I don't believe in because "the guy deserves a chance". We have to remember that there is still a greAT divide in thiS country and while a popular vote count of 53% is fomidable 67 million good Americans didn't vote for this agenda and my hope was that he would do more to break down the barriers---still too soon on that front---I hope he keeps working at it.
1-Clinton/democrat housing mess 2-I'm young, but the crazy pork faux-stimulus package offers enough evidence to show he is a far-left liberal. Far, far, far left. He has shown his true colors with his embrace of the liberal power-hungry grab. Enough evidence for me to say he gets an F for his first 50 days.
I still have not heard anyone come up with a better recovery plan. Everyone seems to just want to complain without any idea what to do better. Sounds like my mother in law.
They was not a chioce lower than an F was my problem. Give him 6 more months the way he is going now and I don't see this country recovering.
I couldn't have said it better myself Kimberlee!! Think about the perks that The Messiah is giving us.......we will have new roads to drive on to get the stem cell research!! That guy doesn't know his a$$ from a hole in the ground!!
Wahooboat - Do some research on the Reagan's solutions...exact opposite of Obama's. Look at Japan's...which Obama is copying and brought on their lost decade. There's your better recovery plan vs. the crap we're getting into now.
Yea, let's give him a lot more time before we raise our voices? What are you talking about? Silence and complacency will not get us where we need to be! Just like the Dems and Lierals gave Bush a chance?
1 - let the unsecured debt lenders go out of business 2 - get the govenrment out of the peoples paychecks 3 - get rid of uaw 4 - stay out of education (no child left behind) was the most worthless bill that has ever exsisted.
AMEN, Old man!! You said it, we need to get the government out of all of our business!! It is time for the people of the United States of America to take control of our lives and our futures!!
Given the right-wing nuts in the Senate and their mouthpieces filling the airwaves with revisionist garbage, I'm surprised there hasn't been a move to impeach him yet. How in God's name is any meaningful judgment of this man's capabilities able to be made after 50 days in office? The average grocery clerk gets more time to find the aisle that houses the peas, but Obama is supposed to have fixed the mess this country's in in 50 days. My, we are a spoiled bunch aren't we?
To ehaislar, I would just like to point out that it is not the governments job to reform industry!! Thats the consumers and the marketplaces job.
Exactly! One of the big advantages
of capitalism is that old, crumbling, wasteful, or outmoded companies are replaced by better, newer ones.
Yep. The big business capitalists have been doing a great job of replacing old, crumbling companies. They've taken thousands of jobs out of America and replaced them in India, China, Mexico - anywhere they can get the cheapest labor. And most of us have loved paying lower prices for these outsourced items and "services." We love it so much we have given the go-ahead to big businesses to replace as many American workers as possible.
Then it sounds like we need to let capitalism fix our system. Apparantly our government, through taxes and over-regulation have made the cost of doing business locally so expensive that it is cheaper to do it halfway around the world. The solution is not to force business here, but to fix the problem by reducing taxes businesses pay to the government.
couldn't agree more,, I had a small business and between all the city, county, state and government taxes and regulations and licenses there wasn't any left over for me.
It's always easier to spend someone elses money. the gov. needs to be smaller not bigger
