He's a wolf in sheep's clothing and though he's politically polished, continues to take away from those who have saved and struggled over the years to build something for their families and future generations, simply so he can give to the parasites that have been living off the government and these good Americans. He's a joke. The president of the most powerful nation in the world bows to Saudi Kings (major faux paux), shakes hands with anti-American nations (even accepting a book accusing the United States of being a neo-colonial bully in the Americas) and invites, with open arms, communist leaders to dialogue. All the while, spending Americans' hard-earned money to bailout cherry-picked companies, who themselves, are hording the money rather than passing it down to the end consumer. Oh Yeah.......we really went up a notch with this guy?!

Anyone who thinks they can make an objective, accurate, truthful, and definitive statement rating Obama's performance after only three months in office is talking out of their butts. You might like or dislike his decisions so far, but it is way to soon for anything more than that. Besides, with only three months in office, his priorities have been dealing with disasters created by his predecessor.

"Instead of Obamas first 100 Days" we should be calling this the "Post Bush Presidency Disaster Recovery Period."

For those who still have blinders on, tunneled visioned, or too ignorant to listen to media other than the FOX-Rove-Limbaugh Self Destruct Team, there has been a great change. The change Americans want - more jobs at home not overseas, better wages, affordable health care and college costs - will not miraculously happen overnight.  The change comes in attitude, patience, and understanding, knowing that someone is working FOR us, and hoping that in time (hopefully soon) our situation will become better.

Unfortunately, Bush's cowboy mentality, do what I say not as I do, unilateralism really ticked other countries off and our current intelligent President knows that the time is ripe for America to be humble and show the world we will work with you to help bring peace and stability.  Apologetic is the word right wing nutjobs use to criticize Obama and hopefully nail into simple minds that Obama is weak.

When republicans have a lower popularity poll than Chavez of Venezuela, when the republican party has only very conservative wingnuts left in its party, when the only option republicans feel they have left is to just criticize a democratic president with a 61% approval rating, maybe the republicans should stop shooting themselves in the feet and try to come up with ideas and suggestions to help make the country better instead of looking like the empty headed party of No.

When is the last time you saw any political figure state, local or federal having to cut back on anything; family budget, daily lifestyle or otherwise? That's correct - never. The president has been in the office ONLY 100 days with all the mess that needed to be clean up. These results are allot different than the poll results that our liberal media has tried to jam down our throats. Over 52% of the people give him a D or F. Hardly the grades of a "popular" President. He has completely ignored the moderates and conservatives of America and has based ALL of his decisions on his liberal friends and agenda.

I'm still hoping for the best from Obama. I'll admit I didn't vote for him, I voted third party, but that's because the two major parties are a joke. But I stilll think he's got a chance at fixing this. What he needs to do is stop giving money to American companies that shove jobs over seas, like GM, stop saying that things are bad and they're probably going to get worse, etc. The economy is reliant on the confidence people have in the government. It seems that even those who are fanatics of Obama really don't have much faith in him given that basic rule of economics. But I digress, he is, inarguably, a very powerfulv speaker, which is one of the key things Bush lacked. If he stops his gloomy outlook on the economy and starts rallying the people together and restoring their confidence then he can fix this. But given the fact that he's wasted more money in 100 days than Bush did in 2008, I'm somewhat doubtful.

the current administration didn't put us in the mess that they are taking the blame for. You republicans need to place the blame where it belongs, on the republican administration which controlled for many years without regulations of the banks as well as Wall Street and created this problem. We finally get a president that cares for the American people and attempts to make an effort to help struggling Americans and this is the type of criticism he gets. The fact of the matter is, if something isn't done now, there won't be a future for our children and grandchildren. Based on what I have seen so far, I give Pres. Obama an F-. My reasons are based in logic. A government has never spent their way out of trouble, ask the Europeans or Japanese. In fact, many in the European Union cautioned Pres. Obama against his spending spree, but he chose to ignore those who have learned from their mistakes. The European community is moving toward capitolism, while we are being pushed into socialism.

No matter how you feel, the economy just shrank by 6.1%. This is not the fault of Pres. Bush. Pres. Obama has spent more than any of the prior Presidents put together. If spending worked, we would all be employed and working 12 hrs. a day 7 days a week.

If you want the government to tell you how to do everything, what to do and when, then you should be pleased with Pres. Obama. He fired my CEO, and is setting my employer up for bankruptcy. GMC is not just a nameless entity, it has people who work there who pay taxes, have mortgages, kids in school and college. We are contributers to the economy, if we can keep our jobs, we will continue to be consumers.

But remember this, the press is in the tank for Pres. Obama. They are not interrested in reporting whole stories, just what they think will make Pres. Obama look good. At his speech tonight, he just called on liberal members of the media, ignoring anyone who would not lob softballs at him, and not allowing follow up questions. That is not a sign of openness.

For those of you who feel (not think) that everyone who speaks against Pres. Obama is a hater, note that I have been respectful, but disagree with his policies. That is something a majority of you cannot say you did during Pres. Bush's term in office.

I don't think Obama or his economic team, has the innovation or skills to know where to develop job growth. I am dismayed that all this money went to bailout as opposed to a real stimulus.

It's not his job to hand out jobs but to deliver funds where innovation is needed to make us more efficient, more effective and be more productive. So much of the money was spent on the non-productive parts of our economy - auto, financial (issuing bad loans, turning real estate into a psych-driven marketplace- not sure if just giving these industries money is going to turn out jobs or better products.

I did not vote for Obama because he had no experience. However I did hope he would succeed in bringing our country together and hopefully solving some of our problems. I agree with much of what Brian said (in both posts.) I don't believe however, that if you leave businesses alone everything will be great. There are some greedy crooks running some of those businesses and investments. The problem is that there are also greedy crooks running much of government. The honest hard working American are going to foot the bill either way. I do hate that some believe the democrats are working in their favor. I am independent (mostly conservative) but voted for Obama, only because I vote like I drive a car. If the car starts pulling to far the right you need to turn the wheel the other direction but sure enough it will start veering too far left so we will have to probably turn back the other way again later.

Actually if you have been paying any attention, the stock market has gained ground consistently over the past 2 months. Also, consumer confidence has risen which is essential in the economic recovery.

But O's choices of solutions, and his opportunism to install socialist policies, are what garner the F ratings. I am a Conservative and I consider John F Kennedy a great president, but this pre packaged, overhyped, no real qualification, community leader of a president is a complete failure. Obama did play a hand in the mess we have today. He helped blocked oversight and more regulation of Freddie Mac and Fanny Mae as soon as he came on the scene. And the people that started this mess in the financial markets were mainly Democrats and few RINO's. Dodd, Franks, Clinton, Johnson, Raines, and other liberals were at the heart of blocking oversight and regulation of F&F going back to when President Bush and conservatives pushed for more oversight and regulation going back to 2001. If the oversight and regulation had went through people who could not afford these houses would never have been able to by them which would have lead to stopping this financial mess before it got started. This lead to the mortgage crisis, credit crisis, and banking crisis, and this is at the foot of these liberals that wanted everyone to own a home no matter if the could afford it or not.

But Obama did vote for all of the spending that gave us the debt we have, so he did not inherit a thing as he was part of the reason we are where we are. And he lied stating that he inherited a $1 Trillion dollar deficit, the deficit spending was $450B when he took office. And if you take away the TARP bill that was created by Paulson, a liberal Democrat, that Bush should never have signed the deficit would only have been $100B. And don't forget Obama spent the second half of the TARP, $400B, and he did not have to spend it, but he did.

He caused a lot of these problems with his votes on bills and laws and now he acts like he had nothing to do with anything and he inherited it all, what a complete liar Hussein Obama is, I wouldn't trust him to water my yard. And the Bush tax cuts gave the lowest federal tax rate a 100% tax cut from 10% to 0%. Here is how the Bush Tax cuts break down, the lowest federal income tax bracket went from 10% to 0%, that is a 100% tax cut for the lowest earners, i.e. the poor. The next lowest tax bracket dropped from 15% to 10%, a 33% tax cut also for the so-called poor. The next tax brackets at 28% and 31% were cut to 25%, for a 15% tax cut for the middle class. And the highest tax brackets at 36% and 39.6% were cut to 33%, for a 12% tax cut for the hardest working and highest earning Americans, i.e. the so-called rich. So just by look at the data it is easy to see that the poor got the biggest tax cuts from President Bush, not the so-called rich as that is what liberals have been running around lying about for the last eight years. My criticism is not because the economy hasn't turned yet. Obviously he has not been in office long enough for any results to be evident. I just feel that his policies will harm the economy further. You cannot spur sustained economic growth by running huge federal deficits indefinitly and sucking the air out of any potential recovery. High taxes and huge deficits is not the prescription for sustained economic growth. 1) AIG bailout which to date has handed out zero accountability for bonus situation 2) Cabinet picks seem to have problems with back taxes 3) Picked North Carolina to win NCAA 3) Did a great PR tour with multiple press interviews , spot on Leno, and web-town hall meetings--dodged the question when asked about approving a budget that doesn't have the middle class tax hike he promised in campain. 4) Passed a porkulus spending bill that was pushed thru before all had a chance to read and digest its contenst...thus allowing the AIG bonus loophole and absent the transparency that was promised to the public 5) Gave the Queen an IPOD, kissed the King of Saudi Arabia's hand 6) Got the other nations to kick in more money in to the world monitary fund 7) Gave an olive branch to Iran to have it thrown in his face 8) North Korea is test firing rockets 9) Learned that a trillion dollars is yesterday's million and that my kids, grandkids and great grandkids better learn that word well as they are on the hook to repay all of that 10) Saw the government set a double standard that bailout for banks allows golden parachutes for CEO's and bonuses for exec's while bailout for manufacturing like GM means they fire the CEO and appoint their own management and board of directors. 11) Had the Attorney general and other liberal minions again try to reinstate old gun control laws because it is my responsibility to give up my 2nd amendment rights so guns don't find their way in to other countries such as Mexico

So for all you Obama lovers just remember that your children and grandchildren will not have the same oppurtunity as you or I they will be taxed so much they will not enjoy the same quality of life as we do. They will not want to go out and acheive because they will be used to their handout. They will have restrictions on how much money they can earn and will die at a younger age because their government has run healthcare into the ground just like social security. Jesse of Texas: The bring down of our country was not done by one man or one party. It was done by both sides of the spectrum. Each party is responsible one way or another. Both have had the White House and a majority in Congress and both have had the opprotunity to fix things before they went out of control. I use to be a Republican but I drop the registration after Bush started spending countless amounts of money and never vetoed a thing. Obama seems to be doing the same thing which now leaves me stranded. In the laughable wisdom of the Clinton administration apparently they felt the financial and banking industry were either no longer greedy(ha ha) or they personally stood to gain from it (my guess). Friends and contributers to the Clinton administration and the Congress and Senate of 1999 stood to be able to gain quite a lot from the deregulation. The group Acorn pushed for welfare money to be included in mortgage applications to make it possible for people who truly couldn't afford a home to get one. Nice of those groups to 'help' those people out.......of their money that is. They knew very well these people would probably default but they would have a few payments and then get the property back and sell it again and again. They had little liablity because they would soon sell that mortgage off to someone else who was greedy who would do the same. So these people you claim to be 'for the people' and for the working class are NOT WORKING CLASS. I challenge you to name me one single Democrat from the house or senate that would be considered middle class.......can't name one can you. ahawkeye1, I do agree with much of your posting and it's true that only time will tell the complete story. I have reservations about spending levels too, but I also believe that doing nothing would have been more of the same and it's clear that was not going to work.

More of the same is a nice tag line to use when you want to try to pigeon hole people into a particular group. There are more than two options other than do nothing and spending a trillion dollars on programs that do not fix the problems that started the whole thing. I was not advocating anything of the same except for the policies that did work under clinton. It doesn't cost a trillion dollars to resend the failed bush policies that we hear so much of (btw I would like to know exactly which policies people are referring to when this is said, in addition to the people who voted for and against it). You are aware that technically the United States isn't even a democracy? It is a republic. Even in true democracies there can arise something the founding fathers very much feared: "Tyranny of the Majority".

I am sure the democrats in congress and the Obama administration believe they are doing the right thing, but to say that all economists agree with what has been done is simply false. And to say that the "spending we disapprove of is perpetuated on us by the economic collapse of 2008" is taking all the credit and blame off of the current administration for their present spending decisions.

It's like the parent who says they had to yell at their child because their child was misbehaving and thus it is the child's fault. It was still the parent who chose to yell at the child. And in this case, no matter what the previous administration had done, it is this administration that has chosen to try to spend us out of this situation. The recent spending spree we've been on hasn't been "perpetuated on us" by anyone, rather it has been decided on deliberatly by the present administration.

It may not be clear yet what the effects of those decisions are but I believe in the long term it does not bode well with our economy to be trying to spend our way out of a recession. You can't get into massive debt without regard for how it is going to payed back without some consequences. It is common sense. Yes Bush messed up and left us with massive debt. But the amount of debt the Obama and congress seem to be aiming to put us in makes the Bush debt look like pocket change. It is irresponsible.

We were to busy trying to work our personal and company finances out of the recession we are in to worry about what those of you that don't have time to work because you are to busy commenting in forums to work. So, with that said, what happened to you "lefties" working for a living? If your not working for the company that pays you, you are part of the problem and why that company is struggling.

This mess was created by the American people spending money they did not earn. That money was available to them by bad policies passed by the Clinton administration and other legislation from the previous presidency. We're in this mess because Americans got into debt over their heads instead of living within their means. Now "America" is in worse debt by spending even more money it doesn't have in a wasteful manner. Instead of American people making it worse this time, it is the same lawmakers who enabled the problem to begin with.

I agree that reasonable debt is OK to make a business successful. That is how I made my business successful. I spent the money is a wise manner and didn't take more than I needed. This is not the case with the Obama administration.

I would never consider giving the maker of the DeLorean money because it was a failed business model with bad leadership. Why would I consider doing the same for Citigroup, GM, or any other bonehead company?

What it comes down to for me is the government is deciding who will lose their jobs and businesses. Instead of keeping those ones around that make America strong (the little guys), they decided to spend a bunch of money on the few who made the biggest mistakes. It is a waste of money. I only hope I can make enough money in this short term "high" to carry me through the chaos to come.

Subprime morgages account for $689 billion in the equation. Fannie and Freddie were the ONLY regulated lenders, all OTHER lenders were Unregulated. So, it was private business who needed regulating, not already regulated lenders. Credit default swaps accounted for $60 trillion os our problem - they are afr more culprit than sub primes. Can you cite them? I follow many economists, all I heard state that the fall of Lehman Brothers last fall had a major impact on stocks, financial institutions and confidence. Now, if we had not acted, all American car companies, scores of banks and financial institutions would be gone. I have yet to see 1 economist who says doing nothing would have been productive. THE ONLY potential fix for financial breakdown of global proportion - is federal spending. Tax cuts on the rich can't touch 8% unemployment. Hope-You are now going to try and pin the deregulation on Bush when it is FACT that Clinton signed the deregulation bill in 1999 almost 2 years before Bush took office in January of 2001. Secondly part of the Obama plan to sell 'toxic assets' to investors is exactly the same as the credit swaps. All it does is put the american taxpayer on the hook for it again. Example if an investor buys 50k in these toxic assets the government will as well then the government will also 'insure' the 50k that the investor bought just in case the assets go down the tubes and end up worth nothing(which is likely because that is why they are toxic assets(=debts/bad loans). So the investor doesn't risk anything the taxpayer loses the 50k they had to put up forced by the government then they also have to pay the investor back the 50k they put up........gee sounds like a bad deal for the taxpayer all around. The investor takes zero risk and the taxpayers get skrewed again.

Brisket boy. Chronic thinker is 100% correct. Keynesian economics does not go anywhere are far as Hussein Obama is going. Keynes theories, which I disagree with as I believe in supply side economics, clearly stated that you can do some deficit spending in a good economy, and even some short term deficit spending in a bad economy. But Keynes did not state that you can have deficit spending through the end of time like Hussein Obama is doing in a bad economy. Obama and his socialist buddies in congress are not following Keynes, they are implementing purely socialist economics and policies. And while they are doing this and trying to nationalize the banks and auto industry and everything else under the sun they are moving past pure socialism and into communism, which is socialism with the exception that the government owns and controls the businesses and markets, which is what Obama is trying to get to. Hussein is not following Keynes he is implementing Marxist theories upon the USA just as Karl Marx's stated it would happen, as 'Capitalism would be brought down from the inside'.

You have to remember that Hussein Obama has been a devote member of a Black Liberation Theology Church since the mid 1980's. And Black Liberation Theology is based on Marx's teachings, so it is not a surprise to me and others that Hussein Obama is moving the country into Socialism and towards Communism. If it's the government that's doing the spending, then it's you and me who are paying more taxes to allow them to spend...I would rather spend my own money than have the government take it away from me and spend it on something I don't want them to spend it on.

The problem isn't necessarily government spending (though that's plenty out of control), it's government DEFICIT spending, ei, spending money we don't have. You and I aren't allowed to go spend a lot of money we don't have (without the credit card company demanding we pay them back plus interest), so what makes us think that the government can do it? Printing money just devalues the dollar, borrowing from the Chinese is tying us to a communist government... do either of these options really sound like good ideas?

I'm sorry but just because Japan tried to impliment Keynesian stimulus spending policies does not mean it was or is the correct approach to repairing a battered economy. Economists, even Keynesians, who are familiar with Japanese economics refer to its decade of stimulus spending throughout the 90s as "the lost decade", where Japan experienced little or no economic recovery.

You can't give a bleeding man medicine while ignoring the wound. Interest rates are still being held artificially low creating an inefficient demand level for loans, while companies like LendAmerica are still issuing refinancing loans with unconfirmed statements of income. The only difference this time around is the government has promised to insure these new loans against defaulting. We'll have another round of foreclosures and mortgage defaults in another 2-3 years. I hope Obama's healthcare plan works, because we'll have plenty more unemployed people who qualify for it.

He certainly isn't going to tax his rich friends and neither are the Congress. Obama said he would not stand in the way of Congress implementing a tax on peoples employer group health plans to fund it. This means taxing the middle class again. How you ask? Well most middle class people/families get their insurance through their employer with the employer paying a portion and the employee paying a portion of it pretax. The plan would be to tax the employee against the entire amount of the insurance premium that they get through their employer. Most middle class can not afford to buy insurance outside of their employer. This is the way the rich will get around it most of them can afford to buy their insurance privately and will therefore not be taxed on 'employer provided insurance' as their policy would be private. Leaving the middle class again to bare the cost of insuring everyone else. What the president said is he wouldn't implement it but he wouldn't stop it either. That is the green light for Congress to implement it and skrew the middle class with a tax hike. What will end up happening is that many people will be forced to opt out of their employers insurance plan due to the major increase in taxes leaving more uninsured. Then I am sure that the Congress will pass a law requiring anyone who's employer has insurance to buy it or be penalized anyway........that is what is coming so be prepared.

Sweden, Findland, Denmark, Norway - all socialist democracies. None of them have collapsed. All of them are full of happy people. It would be fine with me if we adopt some of their policies. Everyone is guarenteed basic human necessities, food, shelter, medical care etc. They have very, very low rates of children living in poverty. I personally remember not having food in the fridge when I was a kid and I know there a millions of kids going hungry in this country. That's apalling. I think people should learn about what socialism is and what forms it exists in today before they demonize it. Conservatives throw that term around a lot to scare people.

I truely believe Obama would socialize our industries, our health care System, our banks and everything he could. I know what Socialism is like because I lived in Cuba for 22 years and I had to leave the country because my sons had no future in Cuba.Fidel made very radical changes. After you make those changes it is very difficult to undo what has been done. Because when people get used to getting things for free they do not want to pay for anything.

While it is true that these countries have achieved a degree of success with their economic policies, there may be some downsides to adopting them within the US.

It is a tragedy that there are so many people in the US without insurance. I have a freind who fought off cancer in her younger years and as a result is unable to obtain an insurance policy for under 2k per month, employers are justifiably hesitant to foot such an enormous benefits package, making it hard for her to remain employed.

However, the vast majority of medical breakthroughs in the last 30 years can be accredited to the US free market system, and the incentives provided by that system for innovation. Countries like Norway which have achieved a degree of success in socialized healthcare have benefited greatly from America's system of privatized healthcare.

Something needs to be done, but blindly writing checks out to socialized medicaid and healthcare plans as Bush did and as Obama is doing now will not provide sustainable long-term benefits. Disagreeing with some of Obama's policies does not make me a right wing nut-job, it just makes me an economist. There's a better way to help people than with outdated keynesian spending plans.

I agree, I really don't care what side anybody is on, nothing will ever get done as long as there is such a huge division of parties or ideas. Country is falling apart and everybody is crying about he said and then she said. Bush did not incite all this bad behavior but he did not help it and obama is exploiting it. Who is doing the dividing? Seems that people here like to blame Obama, but he has continually asked for Republican input. The problem is, they have none. They have no new ideas and tend to vote NO on everything either way. Reaching across the isle does not mean coming to a compromise that you just don't agree with.

The main problem is that there are no moderate Republicans any more. Most of the reps are so far right they have little in common with anyone outside of their small voting base. The couple that are moderates are being run out - look at McCain, for example. Poor guy was sabatotaged by his own party, forced to pick that lunie from Alaska as a running mate to make up for being a moderate himself. The Repubs think compromising means doing things in their old ways that didn't work before (anyone remember "trickle down" economics? Real successful.)

Obama is not perfect, but he is intellegent and trying his best to do what he feels in right for the country. These things take time -

Have you ever listened to one of Obama's overseas speeches, or do you simply rely on people's blogs to tell you what Obama has said? Obama has apologized for the way Bush treated other countries, and correctly blames him for our poor relations with most of the world. He does not apologize for being an American, nor have I ever heard him apologize for the American people as a whole.

As far as insulting you - that was not my intent. In fact, I totally agree that the parties have to find some common ground and American's shouldn't fight with each other just because they have different political leanings. As an independant, do you not agree with the statement that the few Republican's left seem to be extremely to the right? That perhaps the Republican party is losing ground because they will not come closer to the middle?

I do not see Obama as a cry-baby, I can see you do. Fine. Unlike you, I do not get angry when reading posts. In fact, I often laugh (not at yours in particular, at some of the more off the wall posts) at both sides. I apologize for being so offensive, what I wrote was pretty ugly. I am just frustrated is all. I have tried to ask more questions from before, not these postings but on others and I have had too many people call me names for just asking. I am not pretending that I know everything thats why I read some of these posts and check out what people are reffering to when they talk about facts. I will tell you this as you said you don't see him as a crybaby. I will always argue that point, it's a matter of perception I suppose. I do agree with you on your views of the Republican parties but the Democrats are just as guilty and Obama is leading the charge. I do not think it's intentional but at the least he does not help it either. The Republicans were not happy with Bush all the time either and now because of Bush their voices are no longer heard, nobody to listen. I do not hate Bush , I feel he did the best that he could under some pretty extreme circumstances and he shouldn't be used as a scapegoat, we need to move forward not go around in circles.
