It seems their assessment of our society and our values is rather harsh, they think we are guided by Satan and our culture is a reflection of that value system. The reality is they exist and are important as a supplier of energy but they are a long way from sincere supporters of our way of life. It is interesting that people with no tolerance for the policies these people endorse suddenly think we need to understand these people and respect their cultural values. Maybe the supporters of that policy should try living under their codes for a while and see how it goes.

I find it interesting how the press is covering up the latest terror attack by a muslin radical in the United States. Last week an American Terrorist Muslim opened fire on a Military recruitment center in Arkansas shooting 2 navy men. He killed one and wounded the other. He was Muslim and had just returned from a trip to the Middle East. Do you think they are going to continue to ignore reporting on these attacks? The minds of Muslims will not change and Obama has no plans to pull our troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan.

During and at the end (I assume) of your service, by the end of Bush's term, the terrorists were emboldened (i.e. 9/11), Americans were divided more than ever, our military was in its weakest position in decades due to 2 wars, one of which was an absolute waste of soldiers lives due to our wonderful intelligence abroad, and, yes, we never "kow-towed" to anyone... didn't respect anyone, didn't listen to anyone, and walked around like we had a stick up our ass like the true gunslinger we imagined ourselves to be... all the while adding torture to our tool box, taking away citizens rights, and basically reacting to 9/11 EXACTLY how the terrorists wanted us to. JP and The Colonel, I only have 21 years of government experience, 20 of it in the military so I guess my resume isn't as impressive but I would expect more from someone with such extensive CT experience as JP has. I would expect JP would know that the only way to truly win over a people or group is to win their hearts and minds, not just bomb them into submission. We don't have much of a chance with the extremists themselves, but the common, everyday, Muslim who just wants to have a good life for themselves and provide for their family are the ones we need to speak to. The last thing we want to do is to create more foot soldiers for the extremists by alienating the moderates within the religion.

We can do one of two things, recall all our troops and ambassadors, close our doors and mind our own business OR we can continue to participate in the world but that means we have to work as a team with other countries, not just stomp over everyone else and say we know what is right for all. BTW, becoming an isolationist country will not keep us any safer and would not make us any better than we are now.

When ideologies become so distorted that they decide it is their place in life to rid the Nation of what they see as the enemy it is very scary. Our perspectives on how to fix things is as different as our lists of "factual" accomplishments. The real problem is that there hasn't been enough time to measure any accomplishments, so everything is done based on what "may" happen... you predict doom and gloom, I predict a wonderful touchy-feely world...

The basic difference in approach between the parties is worth looking at. My take on Obama's approach is that he is trying to balance1) Jobs (includes small and large business, stimulus, GM bailout, etc.), 2) Wall Street (Banks, AIG, our economic foundation), 3) New Initiatives (Health care being primary) and 4) Last, but NOT least, the National Debt. The Republican solution seems to only include National Debt.... Jobs and "Stimulus" be damned, GM and Chrysler be damned, "Bad" banks be damned, AIG be damned, Health care be damned... correct me if my perception is wrong here, but according to Republicans we need do nothing but immediately balance that budget!... even if it means government job lose and further economic erosion.

What has he accomplished? well, to me, he has successfully balance the economic issued stated above... to the point that our economy is actually showing signs of recovery (its NOT totally collapsed), AND he has made positive strides with our "friends" world-wide, and, again from my perspective, set up our enemies in such a way that we have global support for whatever we need to do with them.

I know... from your perspective he has an unbalanced budget and he is "kow-towing" to world leaders and the muslims are lunatics... you have the right to that opinion. But when the economy recovers next year and he balances the budget in 2011 and we have success in Afghanistan and have exited Iraq gracefully, we can then count the accomplishments you want to count during the election in 2012.

You ever watch a crowd when they announce the National Anthem. A lot of people will put their hands over their heart before it even plays...does that make them better than those who wait for the music to start? As far as his birth certificate, there was a post by The Republican Task Force yesterday. They said Obama's birth certificate is NOT Valid. Why? On the certificate, the GOP provided, it is a "short form". According to the Division of Vital Records, a short form can be obtained to prove a birth, but a short form CAN ONLY state, at the top of the form, "Birth Certificate Registration" or Registration Certificate of Birth" Only a LONG FORM can have the wording, Certificate of Live Birth" the certificate the GOP provided is a short form and has, at the top, "Certificate of Live Birth" That long form is to provide the name of the parents, their address at time of birth, attending doctors, religion of parents and above all, at least (1) one parents signature. Now when Obama was born, Hawaii had an "open door" for birth registration. Anyone, from around the world, could enter Hawaii and request a birth certificate and be granted one without any proof of where they were born. Hawaii will not even recognize a short form as proof of birth as of now. They said a grand jury is preparing a warrant to produce his "REAL LIVE BIRTH" certificate in Hawaii. This should be real interesting to follow. I know the Dems, the media and Washington will play this down, because think about how it would look if a normal citizen uncovered the fact he was NOT born in Hawaii. That would be more interesting. Obama has a half-sister named Maya on his mother's side from his mother's "second" marriage. His mother's "second" husband was a Muslim Indonesian. Barack's mother and stepfather died in Indonesia, where Obama spent many years. His school records list his religion as Muslim. Obama's father was also a Muslim, an African Kenyan from a wealthy family. His mother, Stanley Ann Denham, was born in the mid-west but attended school and grew up on an island near Seattle in Washington State. Her family moved to Hawaii after her high school graduation. She dropped out of the University of Hawaii in her freshman year after becoming pregnant with Barack. She supposedly married Barack's father 3 months into her pregnancy, but the couple never lived together. Barrack Sr left Hawaii to study in the States before his son was born. Obama's mother stayed in Hawaii. No records exist on the web that would document the dates of this marriage, or the divorce shortly after. Barack's father went back to Hawaii to see him only once, on his way back to Kenya. In Kenya he failed in his ambition to rise to power in the government. He died an embittered man. Again, there are reasons to believe Barack has half-siblings on his father's side, but there is no concrete evidence. No journalist has gone to interview his grandmother and his African relatives. Thats strange.

Obama’s Birth Certificate

In the latter stages of the presidential campaign, a myriad of rumors arise suggesting that Obama was born not in Hawaii but in Kenya. Those stories are fueled partly by reports that his father’s relatives had witnessed his birth in Kenya.

In an effort to squelch the born-in-Kenya rumors, Obama’s campaign posts an image of his Hawaiian birth certificate on the Internet; it is immediately suspected of being a forgery. The story breaks on Pamela Geller’s AtlasShrugs.com Web site (which has consistently had the most thorough coverage). The birth certificate image shows evidence of being computer-generated, and it represents the limited short form birth record document rather than the more detailed long form document (sometimes referred to as the “ribbon copy” because it is produced with ink from the typewriter’s ribbon). Obama’s legitimate long form birth certificate may possibly list a place of birth other than Hawaii, a father other than Obama, Sr., or no father at all. Of course, a newborn infant’s mother can give the hospital the name of just about anyone as the father and it will likely be recorded. (By July 2008, there were allegations that the short form birth certificate forgery had been performed by a Jay McKinnon, who describes himself as a “Department of Homeland Security-trained document specialist.”) [12, 325, 494, 548, 564, 2040, 2612]

Researcher Dr. Ron Polarik performed an exhaustive examination of the various Obama birth certificate images available on the Internet and states that the document is a fake. Polarik alleges that no original paper Certification of Live Birth (COLB) corresponding to the image on the Internet exists. He states that the online document was computer-generated and not a scanned image of any authentic Obama COLB. Polarik also points out that the 2007 seal shown on Obama’s alleged 2007 COLB looks nothing like the authentic 2007 Hawaiian seal on actual documents for that year. [548]

The birth certificate provided by the Obama campaign lists the father’s race as “African,” a term that likely would not have been used for a newborn child’s race in 1961. A birth certificate in that period would probably have listed the race as “Negro” or “colored.” Those may not be politically correct terms today, but they were in widespread use in 1961. The use of the word “African” on the Obama form thus further suggests that the document provided by his campaign was a newly created fabrication, prepared by someone unfamiliar with 1961 society. On August 13, 1961, nine days after his birth, an Obama birth notice appears in two Honolulu newspapers. The Sunday Advertiser and the Star Bulletin announcements read, “Mr. and Mrs. Barack H. Obama, 6085 Kalanianaole Hwy., son, Aug 4.” The address listed in the notices is purportedly that of Ann Dunham’s parents. The place of birth is not indicated. Many argue that the newspaper birth notices prove Obama was born in Hawaii, others argue that they prove only that Obama’s mother, father, or grandparents placed the notice in the newspapers. (One individual who is familiar with Linotype machines used by newspapers in the 1960s argues that the spacing of the lines in the Obama birth notice suggests it is a forgery.) Current long-time (since before 1961) residents of nearby 6075 Kalanianaole Highway state that the residents of 6085 in 1961 were neither Obama and Dunham nor Stanley and Madelyn Dunham, but Orland and Thelma Lefforge. Regardless of where Obama was born, in late August of 1961 his mother was living in a Seattle apartment (516 13th Avenue E), ready to begin classes at the University of Washington. (The telephone book entry is “Obama Anna Mrs EA3-3348”) [362, 1902, 1908, 1909, 2655]

Some believe that Dunham and Obama, Sr. visited his homeland of Kenya at the beginning of their long summer break from the University and that Obama was born in Africa. As the summer progressed, the airlines would not have allowed a very pregnant Dunham fly all the way back to Hawaii, and Dunham therefore would have given birth in Kenya. (The airlines were more strict about such issues in 1961 than they are today.) Several of Obama’s relatives in Africa, who likely are unaware of the eligibility requirements of the U.S. presidency, state that he was born in Kenya. [197, 199, 248]

Dunham’s high school classmate Susan Blake recalls that during a 1961 visit to Seattle Dunham was excited about her husband’s plans to return to Kenya. Blake does not indicate whether Dunham was going to Kenya with her husband, but it is not illogical to believe that the newlyweds would travel together to Obama Sr.’s homeland in order for Dunham to “meet the parents,” with the trip taking place over the summer when university classes were not in session. Such a trip would also be consistent with reports that Obama’s family in Kenya was less than thrilled when they met his new wife, a white woman. The summer of 1961 is the only logical time the Kenyan family could have met Dunham, as both she and Obama, Sr. returned to the United States to attend their fall school sessions. Dunham’s trip to Kenya would not have been during the 1962 summer break because by that time Obama, Sr. had already decided to attend Harvard and leave both Dunham and her child. If Dunham traveled with Obama, Sr. to Kenya, it was in the summer of 1961. [743]

Obama’s campaign has given the names of two different Hawaiian hospitals where he was supposed to have been born (Kapiolani Medical Center and Queens Medical Center, both in Honolulu). No one has been able to confirm the birth from either hospital’s records. There is allegedly a register of the birth in the public records office, dated August 8, 1961, one week after the birth, but it purportedly does not list a place of birth. (A register of birth is not the same as a birth certificate.) [248]

Between November 20 and December 2 of 2008, 13 separate Hawaiian hospitals were contacted to determine if Obama had been born there. None of them could or would confirm it was the facility where he was born. The hospitals contacted included Queen’s Medical Center (where Obama says be was born) and Kapiolani Medical Center (where Obama’s half-sister Maya Soetoro-Ng says he was born). [584]

A writer for Online Journal published an article (June 9, 2008) claiming that a research team went to Mombasa, Kenya, and located a certificate of the Kenyan birth of Barack Obama, Jr. There are also rumors that certified copies of a Kenyan birth certificate, with embossed raised seals and with birth witness signatures, are now in the hands of three individuals. Those documents purportedly state that Obama was born at 7:24 p.m., on August 4, 1961, at Coast Provincial General Hospital, in Mombasa, Kenya. Government authorities in Kenya have stated that all documents regarding Obama would be “under seal.” That statement itself raises questions, because if Obama were born in Hawaii, Kenya would have no Obama birth records to seal. Some believe that the Israeli intelligence agency, Mossad, has done some investigating and believes Obama was born in Mombasa, Kenya. The British Secret Service, MI6, according to others, allegedly has documents relating to Obama, Sr. because he was a politically active communist at a time when Kenya had not yet received its independence from Great Britain. There have been claims that Obama’s step-grandmother, Sarah Onyango Obama (Obama’s paternal grandfather’s second wife, born in 1922), told reporters that Barack Obama, Jr. was born in Kenya when her stepson came to visit—accompanied by a pregnant Ann Dunham. Sarah Obama further states that she was present in the Mombasa delivery room when Obama was born. One half-brother and one half-sister of Obama also claim he was born in Kenya. That would be consistent with a purported stop by Dunham to the state of Washington on the return trip to Hawaii, and with the possible existence of only a Hawaiian register of birth, rather than an actual Hawaiian birth certificate. The Chicago Tribune was told by Dunham’s friend Susan Blake that Dunham visited her in Seattle with the newborn infant shortly after his birth. That visit to Blake makes more sense as part of a necessary return trip from Kenya to Hawaii through Seattle than as an optional pleasure trip from Hawaii to Seattle and back to Hawaii simply to show off a newborn baby. [248, 289, 299, 324, 367, 2660]

A critical issue with regard to the Obama long form birth certificate is that Hawaiian law (Hawaii Revised Statute 338-17.8) allows the State of Hawaii to issue a certificate of live birth even if the child is born outside the state provided the parents have been legal residents of Hawaii for at least one year immediately preceding the birth. Obama, Sr. had been a resident of Hawaii for at least one year prior to August 1961. Ann Dunham graduated from Mercer Island High School in Washington in 1960. If, as of August 1961, she had been a legal resident of Hawaii for one year, it was just barely one year. Such a Hawaiian certificate of live birth does not require that the child be born in Hawaii, only that the parents be Hawaiian residents for one year. Thus, had Obama been born in Kenya (or anywhere other than Hawaii) and shortly thereafter brought to Hawaii, Dunham could nevertheless have requested a Hawaiian birth certificate for her son; that document would have been in addition to the birth certificate issued in Kenya. Such a Hawaiian certificate does not make the child a natural born citizen of the United States, it is merely a birth-recording convenience offered by the state. If Dunham expected to remain in Hawaii or any other U.S. state it would have been logical for her to want to register Obama’s birth there. (It certainly would not have been necessary for her to “think ahead” to a time when he might decide to run for president, as some have suggested.) Dunham could also have returned to Hawaii from Kenya, claimed to have given birth at home, and simply registered the birth as Hawaiian. Obama would then have both a Kenyan and a Hawaiian birth certificate; he wouldn’t be the first person to have two such documents from two different countries.

Malcolm X formed the Nation of Islam Temple No. 67 in Seattle that same year and was a popular guest speaker at many universities, including the University of Washington. Dunham was certainly the type of person who would have been attracted to a Malcolm X speaking event. She also had a history of dating non-white students, and could have met the civil rights leader at one of his public events. It is not difficult to see that Obama resembles Malcolm X considerably more than he resembles Barack Obama Sr. and his speech patterns are also remarkably similar… but resemblance is certainly not the same as evidence. (Obama’s speaking voice is not only similar to that of Malcolm X it is also remarkably dissimilar to that of Barack Obama, Sr., who had such a deep voice that friend Neil Abercrombie remarked, “He made James Earl Jones seem like a tenor.”) Perhaps the truth will never be known without the release of original birth records or DNA testing, and the likelihood of either is close to zero. Exactly right!! If you look upon history dating back to the beginning of time, there has always been some sort of conflict in the muslim world. Usually muslim versus muslim. There are so many variations and interpretations of the Koran, Quran, Qor'an, (see, there are even so many spellings). But to say that the muslim religion is all about violence, lest you forget something called "The Crusades" and the verse in the King James Bible, "an eye for an eye".

It's not any one particular religion that advocates violence, it's all of them. Buddahism is the closest to a non-violent religion, but if you watch the news, you've seen their monks have violent confrontations with local law enforcement.

Religion should be based on the faith of an individual. However, these "individuals" follow, or are led by people that interpret their chosen religion. They go by the titles of pastor, father, priest, cleric, etc...and like Islam, each interpretation is different. So any of these "interpretors" can choose how THEY see the religion and pass it on to their followers and the followers believe for the simple reason this interpretor has been "chosen" to tell them what their religion means.

To use a non-secular example. In college I took an American Lit class in which we studied the novel Moby Dick. We were assigned to write an 8-9 page essay on a topic concerning the novel. I chose to write on "Interpretations of the White Whale (or the whale for those of you that haven't read the novel or are familiar with it). During my research I found at least 14 different interpretations by various scholars on the subject. I used this research and my rough draft of the essay ended up being 21 pages in length. And this was not using all of the information from each of the scholars! So I had to shorten my essay to the required length and entitled it "Interpretations of the White Whale, Part I". My professor called me aside after turning in the assignment and asked about my title, in particular, why I included "Part I". I showed her all of the research and my original draft of 21 pages. She understood and needless to say, I got an A.

But this is just one example of interpretation. I was researching the interpretation of a novel that was only 150 years old. Just imagine how many interpretations there are of Islam, or Christianity or any religion that is thousands of years old. With so many to choose from, how can millions of people agree on just one? This goes with anything that has a variety of choices, not everyone is going to agree on the same thing. Thus the hundreds (thousands even) of variations of interpretations of Islam. You have the peaceful and the violent. Same goes for Christianity. Look at the creation of the Lutheran faith. Martin Luther didn't agree with the Catholic church and posted a theses on his interpretation on the door of the All Saint's Church, thus starting the Protestant Reformation. This made him an enemy of the Pope for simply disagreeing on a doctrine that, in principal, they both believed in, but in details they did not.

So on that note, I profess to be a life-long Agnostic. Not an atheist. If you don't know the difference go look it up. Who's to say who's right and who's wrong? Interpretations will vary as history has proved.

To quote Ted Nugent, "Religion ain't good for nothin' except pissin, moanin' and wars." I agree Ted. And for those of you that are going to blast my outlook on religion and condemn me to hell, no problem. That means my seat in hell is reserved and I won't have to stand in line when I get there.

Everything you have stated is correct. There is one fact you have over looked. In Saudi Arabia as in a number of Muslim countries they are taught to spread their faith by whatever means necessary and if infidels can not be converted they should be eliminated. There are some exceptions to this teaching in the Islamic world (Turkey and Malaysia are examples).

I find when I listen to the President speak I feel like I just shook hands with a snake oil salesman. Most of his speeches are filled with half truths and innuendo regarding the current subject. The healthcare announcements with all those insurance companies is a perfect example. The only plan to mitigate the costs of national healthcare is by less service and more control over what your doctor can perscribe or recommend as treatments. If a doctor doesn't cow tow to the "National Health Recommendations Board" he will be black balled.

You must be a natural born citizen to be president - not a US citizen, which anyone can get if they go through citizenship classes and steps. One reason, say Schwartzenegger cannot run for president - even if he is a citizen of the US, is he's not a natural born citizen. When Madaline Allbright was Secretary of State, if heaven forbid we lost the offices ahead of her, someone else would've been sworn in as president because again she was not a natural born US citizen.

However, the court decided to not hear them, but I think in retrospect they should. If one brings a case to the courts again on this, I think they may reconsider at the rate things are going. I do wish, however, they did force him to show that he was a natural born US citizen.

I agree that religion has no place in government (as outlined in the Constitution). I also believe that you are under estimating the Supreme Court Brown v Board of Education majority opinion delivered by conservative Earl Warren. Roe v Wade also delivered by a "conservative" Supreme Court. As for Muslims/fear, when you see the hands of Muslims being extended in friendship then you might begin to consider dialog.

It seems to me that we are always willing help any nation during one crisis or another and the responses we continually recieve are diplomatic snubs. We are portrayed as international bullies. Personally, I don't really care what the international community thinks if our government or our way of life. We do not owe any one an apology for who we are and/or what we (as a nation) have accomplished. So the tact the President is taking with declaring the US an arrogant nation at the G20 or bowing to the Saudi King in my view is simply wrong.

Such arguements are often hypocritical in many ways. When Franklin Roosevelt said that one third of a nation lived in poverty in the 1930s, he underestimated the amount. Now, after the New Deal and the Great Society, from 11 to 13 percent live in poverty. Social Security saved most elderly Americans from living in poverty. Look at the great successes under big government, the Interstate Highway System, rural electrification, the Space Program which sent man to the moon in ten years, Head Start also comes to mind. The GI Bill completely transformed America, and gave rise to the middle class.

FSW - Big government is like anything else it has pluses and minuses. I agree that there have been some remarkable results especially in regard to the GI Bill and Head Start. I'm not sure you can qualify SSI a success. It was turned into a Ponzi Scheme when LBJ started raiding the surpluses resulting in the current bankrupt system we have now.

One of the costs of big government is that your personal freedoms become eroded. The government starts to decide what is best for the individual i.e. flouridation of water. Now the obvious response but that's good it prevents cavities but shouldn't the choice of flouride in water be the choice of the one who is drinking it? Shouldn't your medical treatment be determined by your doctor and not some list of recommended treatments provided by some beaurocrat at some main office of insurance company (private or government)?

I have been thinking for a while now that there is no possible way some Senator from California could possibly understand the problems of the people in Maine. I truly believe that the Federal Government has way over stepped their bounds. Who do you think should be deciding what cars to build. Should it be the government, they have decided that everyone should own an environmentally responsible hybrid. Say what you want about the environment but I can tell you two things for sure global warming is a fact of life and hybrid automobiles are not the answer. The technology is out dated and no one ever says how much fossil fuels contribute to global warming or the what part of fossil fuel use is the worst offender. Instead of reasonable discussion about the problems facing the nation we have a whole lot of people making a lot of noise and confusing the issues at hand.

Look at the TARP that Bush and Obama came up with. You can say all you want that it was Bush but Geithner was a major architect of the plan. This past week he was in China trying to assure them we are fiscally responsible. They just laughed. The AIG bonuses is another example. The administration knew what was going to happen but left the clause active so that they could give the guys at Fannie Mae and Freddie MAC million dollar bonuses at the end of the year. Then the adminstration decries the terrible people at AIG. Give me a break.

The events of the past 10 or 12 months have convinced me that there is not one politician in this country that gives a damn. They have forgotten who they work for. I think it is truly time that we the people remind them and vote out every single incumbent until they get the message.

The only thing Obama can do is to try to get the parties to the table. I do not know enough to make any assumptions on Obama's success or failure, but at least he's trying something a bit different. Of course, he is to busy running hundreds of car dealers out of business. He has taken care of the corrupt unions and big shots on wallstreet. He now wants the Govt Motors to build crappy cars that no one (and I mean no one) will want. The only way he will make us buy one is to raise gas to $5.00 or more per gallon. He will do that soon and with his cap and trade ideal our utility bills will triple. That, My friends will be the end of us.

I cannot agree with your more Happyblue. I simply cannot understand how people could make their mind up to condemn Islam as a violent religion, or claim that all of its followers subscribe to the same extremists beliefs and agenda. I have many friends of the Islamic faith, ranging from Pakistanis to african americans, and they are the FARTHEST thing from violent, hate-filled people. They are just trying to live their life and practice their beliefs in peace.

It is important to at least make an attempt to open a dialogue and get people to understand each other, and I feel President Obama understands this concept. Some people are under the impression that all Christians are at war with all Muslims, and nothing could be further from the truth. your everyday Muslim does not condone violence, let alone take part in it. It is the extremist portion of that religion that has waged jihad against this country. But what religion hasn't had an extremist wing terrorize other people? If my recollection of history serves me correctly, the Christians launched more than a few Inquistions, "witch" burning runs, and sought to silence or supress people who did not share the beliefs of the church. Or have we already written that out of history?

kym - They are different - they pray for ill to befall their enemies, while a true Christian prays for peace. They do harbor ill will toward non-muslims, and good luck if you try to switch to a different religion, the penalty is death. Of course they are not all terrorists, etc. - those are YOUR words, not mine. They are stuck in a different time than most people in the Western world. They can live their lives, no problem, just stay the beep away from me and mine. And don't ask anyone to help pay to perpetuate it, not war, aid, welfare - America is broke, we need to take care of us. I dont know how many other ways to say this. They DO NOT all pray for ill towards their enemies. They DO NOT all hate non-muslims. I went to high school in a community to many Pakistani, Iranian, and Iraqi immigrants. They are very traditional, but they are not violent hateful people. And they abhor the violence some of their faith are perpetuating, and fear for their futures when they see how the American public has lumped them in the same group with those kind. Sure, the isolated, less industrialized traditional muslim communities still have practices we would consider barbaric, but they are not as advanced or enlightened as we are. they have ancient laws governing them still, while we have been able to do away with such things.

Think of the way Americans behaved when they were living in small, isolated communities such as those. We were stringing people up to be hanged before a trial, murdering off the native americans, and ostrecizing the mentally or developmentally challanged. But we reached a threshold when we were finally able to understand the folly of our ways and develop into a civilized society, and much of this was brought on by technological and intellectual advances. These people have yet to reach that point, although younger generations are making great strides in that direction.

But there is NO WAY anybody could think they every last Muslim is a violent, hateful person, whether they live abroad or right here in America. These are just misconceptions brought about by the acts of an extremist wing.

The problem is that muslims by and large don't have any understanding of what their religion really means. When the words printed in their book promote (can we say demand?) violence and death to unbelievers then the rational soul would get out of it. You can't just pick the pretty parts to follow and dismiss the rest as a misunderstanding and be true to yourself. Get out or suffer the consequences. And don't you liberals start the ranting about the old testament bible passages. There were reasons for some of the scriptures and when Jesus came he stopped all that with the new testament.

Does not the New Testament state that neither adulters, fornicators, and the like will not inherit God's kingdom? Or that it is a sin to defile ones body? But I know many Christians who do all of those things. People of EVERY religion choose what passages of their holy writings to follow. Do the Jews still follow the parts that state that you have to stone a man who spills his semen on the ground? As society develops, parts of ancient holy passages are phased out or overlooked. If modern day muslims choose to not kill people for trangressions as the Quran states, are we to hold that against them? should we not be happy they choose to discontinue that practice? Religion tends to evolve over time as their followers evolve. sure, some are orthodox muslims, and some are orthodox christians, but for the most part they tailor their beliefs to better align with the social climate of their day.

My friends would never engage jihad. and they do condemn that kind of violence. they find it to be "backwards", just as we Christians would find praying for good health rather than seeking proper medical treatment backwards.

Until we quit depending on the muslims for our oil we will be in this mess forever! We now have discovered the largest known oil reserve in the world that has been untapped in the western US. It is time to do the following:

1. Drill for our own oil, keeping our money in this country.

2. reduce all foreign aid by 50%

3.Finish the fence on the mexican border( especially since we have found out the terrorist are running a training camp down there.)

4. Do away with the income tax and have a flat sales tax, thus bringing in all the Illegal money and increasing our tax collections. (The economy will boom in a short time.)

5. Quit bailling out every company in the country. NONE IS TOO BIG TO FAIL!

6. Have a trade agreement that is fair with all countries.

7. Legalize all soft drugs and tax them. This reduces the need for law enforcement, brings down the expense of housing prisoners, etc. The 50 year war on drugs is lost. Period. Accept it.

8. Get the Gov't out of the CAR BUSINESS, they can't wipe their butt let along run a business

9. With the exception of a couple other items thats about it.

10. One other item, Throw out all the bums in congress that has supported this disgraceful period in our history.

Can't drill here in the US, Obama and Congress, have closed all locations for drilling. Congress has also closed off water to the farmers in Calif. because of a 2 inch fish...there have been 36,000 jobs lost. This is in Central Calif. where most of the land is farmed for our food...
