Like the Rush "dittoheads" spreading horse puckey as usual???

The debt was quadrupled for the FIRST time in the mid-80's by your Hero Ronnie.

Massive unemployment could have been avoided if Bush WOULD have done his job in 2004 and rejected the shaky lending practices of the financial mafia. BUT instead, he let them run amok, and then bailed them out.

You are absolutely right Jenny. All women with kids should just stay home.

The story I'm hearing is it has become such a media circus everytime she does something on the national stage, that her own state legislature has made it impossible to do both. So she is stepping down so that she can focus on a national run (Senatorial, VP, or P).

THE FYTHELER: Rush is very American. Rush is making a fortune for "moving units" and earning radio stations' listeners to his mindless drivel and helping them all to profit. It's capitalism and selling anything at the highest possible price is the game.

He's not on the air because he's a Republican or Democrat. He's on the air to pull in profits and it doesn't matter who those profits come from. Consequently, he will say whatever needs to be said to feed "the beast" that listens to him. If the beast turns out to be Democrats, you will see him do an about face to keep a listening audience. It's all about the money. If he tears the nation apart, it doesn't matter. He's not looking at end results, other than how much money is flowing in his direction.

I see your point and I appreciate your point. I hope more people start actually thinking.

Just watched the video - she is not stepping down but rather not going to seek reelection - which again, I predict she would not have won another term or any other seat. Another prediction - she will NOT even come close to getting the GOP nod - many of the leaders in this party may not be smart but even they wouldn't be this ignorant.

She may be well known but NEVER will get the nomination...

WASILLA, Alaska - Sarah Palin announced Friday she plans to resign as governor of Alaska in a few weeks, saying she will try to "affect positive change" from outside government.

Palin, the Republican vice presidential candidate in 2008, made the announcement at a press conference Friday.

She said the decision has been "in the works" for a while and comes after "prayer and consideration."

She is handing the reins over to Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell, who will be sworn in on July 25. Parnell and most of Palin's cabinet were present at the announcement.

Yep - got confused for a bit but then saw that she was in fact quitting...I think there is something more to this story - my prediction anyway. Again, my opinion, she is such a narcissist that it would take something pretty big to have her do this. Maybe she is going to spend more time down in the lower 48 (unfortunately for me)...

The last thing I want to see is "one party rule". The United States has done this back and forth swing from the get-go and we all benefit from it. The Democrats are not going to take over because they are so "right". They are going to take over because the Republicans had too much power and abused it.

It will come back to the Republicans if/when the Democrats get too much power and abuse it.

All of that is OK - if we lock out lobbies, which we seem incapable of doing. Everyone dances to the money. And for that, the American public pays a huge price.

As for Sarah Palin, I think she's been great comic relief when we needed it. I saw her news conference and she seemed giddy, worried, and anxious. I don't have a clue how to interpret that.

My guess is that she is leaving to focus on the national scene.  With all the other Republican "hopefuls" imploding, I would guess she sees opportunity.  This way, she can focus on running around to national events without screwing up (more) in Alaska.  And it will sound good for her to say she is leaving to, "focus on her family."  On the other hand, having done a partial term as the governor of Alaska isn't much to run on.

I totally agree. When she stated that she had given her reasons... What were those again?

I don't dislike her, but I see her entertainment value far higher than any substantive value. Maybe it's just me.

I'm also wondering how she fulfilled her reign as whatever beauty queen she was. Did she step back and say she had opened too many grocery stores and pharmacies. I don't know.

On her worst day, she'd be more qualified, sane, competent, pro-American, faithful, successful, non-socialistic and ego centric than BHO. I want Mitt, but Sarah would be miles ahed of the buffoon in there now. But then, it's only our national security, democracy and econmy going down the flusher with the 'leadership' of a totally unqualified, agnostic socialist. So, what the heck? Right?

Qualified? Hmm ... by what measure? Please have facts to back up. Sane? What has President Obama ever said or done that would make you doubt his sanity? ... I didn't think you had anything. Competent? President Obama seems to be getting some things done. What has Palin accomplished? Pro-American? How do YOU measure it? If being "Pro-American" involves cutting brush in Texas when maybe you should be studying the Constitution or law, we don't need it. Faithful? How do you define it? If it means advancing your political career by your professed faith, I'm sorry, that's a tautology. Successful? See "competent" ... we haven't seen that in a few years until Jan. 20. Non-socialistic? Do you even know what socialist means? After eight years of the "ownership society" destroyed America's standing in the world, AND our economy, maybe we need to take a look at something else. Ego-centric? Palin wins that one too ... President Obama is confident, but Palin is self-centered to a fault. And calling the President a buffoon says more about you than it does about him. I won't tell you that you have to like President Obama, but hatred is not an attractive trait, nor is jealousy.

AGAIN you have your facts wrong. BUSH was the one who bailed out his buddies in the financial mafia, and he stood by and let them practically rape the American financial system with their practices of variable rate mortgages and giving the keys to anyone that had a job. IN 2004 he knew about this!

And as for "Sexy Sarah", it's pretty bad when Pat Buchanan gets on MSNBC and says that you're "unstable".

Palin said much worse things about President Obama on the campaign trail than anything that's been said about her. Note that many of the things said about Palin had to do with her own actions and her own words, versus what she said about Obama. I'm not saying that there should be no rules about what can be said about anyone, but there is a substantive difference between calling someone else a socialist and being asked some questions, and you can't answer them.

Rock: I agree and she handled it with aplomb throughout the campaign. Very few politicians would have ever agreed to be on SNL after the lampooning that had run in previous weeks. She's a trooper.

However, she didn't graciously drop back into her usual role. I don't know why, but she set herself up for anything and everything that occurred after November. That makes me believe she had a genuine love of the spotlight and something has been presented to her that will keep her where she wants to be.
