She had pissed off a lot of people on both sides of the aisle so it would be no surprise if one of them that had been gunning for her finally came up with enough dirt to force her out of office. It seems illogical she would leave just because she planned a Prez run in 2012,quitting in first term is not a good image for future Prez.

She certainly has a following. I will be curious to see whom she attracts in her camp, and who will be left to be shared by the other factions of the ex GOP .

When she was still the city manager in Wasilla, she had a run in with the local Librarian. Sarah Palin is a book burner and a dangerous one. She had this librarian fired for not removing a book that was already approved and on the shelf. This librarian was later returned to her job after strong local protest against Sarah Palin's objectionable actions.

This person is only a failed beauty queen, with limited intellegence who belongs to a scary church. I encourage all of you to read the articles that came out about her a year ago.

There's been a recent relase of uncomplimentary E-mails, and I suspect there's something else discovered that has made Peyton-Place Palin resign. Her political career has been a circus with a constant drip, drip of incriminating information. No one has been stabbing the Queen of Back-Stab in the back--more like Karma, and I'm sure the GOP/McCain and others would like to see her out of the spot light she so loves.

Last, (et al), I find it particularly interesting that you reference Bush. No one was better at trashing someone than Bush and Turd Blossom Karl Rove. The issue forcing her out was that she lied about the First Dud(e) being part of the Alaskan Secessionist movement (he belonged to the Alaska Independence Party for 7 years), and the emails proving she lied came out this week. Her image took yet another blow, and it was the proverbial nail in the coffin. Faux News can claim all they want that this is a good thing, but the truth is she is done in politics. Even if she runs for Pres and still has support of the 18-23% that make up the base, that will never get her into the White House.

When you scrape the bottom of the gene pool, the possibilities are endless.

Is she speaking out two sides of her mouth? She said things within this statement that were completely at odds. One hand being able to do more by not being a 'lame duck' on the other hand she seemed to imply that she needed to be at home with her family, this speech had more holes than Swiss cheese.

Couple of interesting things, maybe they don't mean anything but her speech pattern during the statement sounded as though she was laboring in her breathing, I never really noticed that before. Maybe it was just the outdoor setting or the mike.

Also I noticed that she mentioned the most important people in her life, however, her husband wasn't mentioned, just her children. Maybe I am reading too much into that omission, or maybe I missed something.

Andrea Mitchell and Pat B. are both pointing to 2 very different futures for her it will be interesting to see what happens, recent past events surrounding her certainly point to some instability though.

From what I understand, the 16 ethics violations she was charged with that were dropped costr her family $500k in legal fees and her office couldn't get anything done with all the herassment from the press. Her resignation allows Alaskan governor's office to do its job, instead of, as she stated, spending 80% of its time fighting the ethics charges.

IMO, it gives her two years to study so she doesn't look so befuddled when world events questions arise, and given the current state of the economy and the out of cotrol spending that's going on right now, her record for cutting budgets and being fiscally conservative will make her a viable option in 2012. From what I understand, Letterman was working for higher ratings, from what the news said. Sarah Palin did not censor anything at the Wasilla library. The Mat-Su district, of which Wasilla is a part, had censored a book just before Palin became mayor of Wasilla. In interviewing the librarian (whose job, I believe, was/is controlled by the mayor (and city council?), she simply asked the question...what would you do if I asked you to ban a book. S Palin neither banned any book, nor did she request that any book be banned. This apparently has been verified by the librarian, who was loyal to the former mayor, and no friend of S Palin's.

The way the process works it that the ethics panel looks into the complaint and decides if it has any merit. All but 3 of the complaints were immediately dismissed. So no time or money spent on Sarah's part wasted at all. The biggest and most expensive ethics complaint was the one she filed against herself concerning her firing of the head of the state troopers. That one cost her millions. But it was worth it to have her own ethics panel investigate it and upstage the state legislature's own investigation.

First off let me say this your assesment of what Obama has done and is doing is so far off base you cannot even ask the question intellegently. Most of us who voted for Obama took his statement for what it was worth. Like the sying goes help me change the things I can live with the ones I cant and the wisdom to know the difference.

None of us thought for a minte he was going into Washington with the set of people who are there and cahnge everything overnoght. If you pay attention and stay off the propoganda sites for a minute you will learn there are fundamental things that have changed for the better since he took office. One thing is the information flow. Now we are getting true numbers not fake ones. If you want a question answered it is available more so now than before. The way we procure military supplies has becom better. Nothing is going to radically change the heirarcy in Washington overnight. It will take time and Obama is an honest person who wants to look out for all of us.

As far as taxes go I have not seen any increases so far because I no longer make a 1/4 of a million a year. Even if I did my taxes would have only gone back up to where they were before Bush pushed through his tax break for the rich.

Unemployment? Go back and look at what Bush said. He said we could look for deficit spending to continue well into the future and unemployment to take the same kind of hit. At least he was right on something. A lot of that unemployment rate was already there because the Bush admin was hiding it with false figures.

The Republicans have NOTHING NEW to offer, that's why they lost the election, and why they are flailing now. Palin is a perfect example....even her comments today were rambling, meaningless, CRAP. Just THINK how many Republicans governors have fallen out of favor in the recent due to their own actions and stupidity. Palin is showing us just how selfish she is.

The media them self actually proved my point. One of the very first articles, told of where Obama went to Mexico. They said that he was never in any harm (even though he could have easily been, how could they have known where it originated from?). And than the article was deleted. Quite suspicious I must say. Plus, I hardly give a damn about the Swine Flu. It was just another government testing being done to see how far a virus could travel. Might as well use one that was low on the BSL1, but potent enough to fallow. America has done these tests as well. During the Cold War, Scientists were testing biochemicals on Americans. There is proof. Documents were released on it and whatnot. But it was a great deception, using Russia as a cover-up. I am not saying the Swine Flu was bad, because I do not think it was. But because the media made such a huge deal out of it no one suspected that it was a test. In fact the media itself was blamed LOL The media itself can be decepted into being a coverup. If you think about it, it makes common sense. You just need to know what to watch out for. The regular flu would be too hard to fallow, and they needed something that was quite small on the charts. Swine Flu it was. Common sense lets call it.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you. I highly doubt that many people made fun of the "I can see Russia from my house" thing because they thought Sarah Palin was wrong about the geography. Pretty much everyone knows that Alaska and Russia are right next to each other--I knew it as a product of public schools, for example, and so does everyone I know. It's just funny to even suggest that mere proximity would give someone foreign policy experience. My sister, cousin and I (all products of public schools who have careers in hair dressing, real estate, and teaching university math, respectively) happened during the presidential campaign to catch someone on Fox News making a connection between proximity to Russia and foreign policy experience when talking about Sarah Palin's strengths, and the three of us simultaneously burst out laughing in loud guffaws. It doesn't exactly require much "depth of understanding."

Even SNL proved they had the rare "depth of understanding" that although Russia and Alaska are very close together geographically, this doesn't equate to foreign policy experience, when they spoofed the Katie Couric interview.

First I completely disagree that he had no experience. I think he had less Washington experience than some of his primary competitors; but, I believe that his personal, academic, life, cultural, and yes, "Washington" experience was light years beyond anything that Sarah Palin had to offer. Have you seen the Wasilla town hall / bait shop?

Secondly, I didn't pretend to know if Barack Obama would be a good president. I voted for him for several reasons:

• He intended to address healthcare with a plan other than tax cuts for the wealthy
• He planned to address social security with a plan other than tax cuts for the wealthy
• He wants to handle international problems with solutions other than saber rattling and tax cuts for the wealthy
• His running mate was capable of reading and knowing what he read
• He addressed the impending financial crisis with a plan other than tax cuts for the wealthy
• He wanted to improve our schools, roads, bridges, and airports with a plan that didn't include tax cuts for the wealthy
• He wanted to lower that tax burden for most Americans with a solution other than tax cuts for the wealthy
• He wanted to regulate Wall Street, the banking industry, predatory credit cards, and defiant corporations with solutions other than tax cuts for the wealthy
• He didn't run on "The other guy knows a terrorist."
• He didn't seem to want to keep kicking America's problems down the road for future generations to support tax cuts for the wealthy

Lastly, and most importantly, I knew that as he approached any future problem that the United States could come across, his knee jerk response wouldn't be to give the billionaires of this country a further tax break. If Republicans want my vote they are going to have to start brainstorming with someone in the room that doesn't work at the Cato institute.
