she's gonna whoop tina fey on ppv.
I vote she goes on SNL fulltime. Her answers to Katie Couric were funnier than most SNL stuff I've seen in a long time.
Give herself 6-months to read "It Came from Wasilla" in Vanity Fair.
There is nothing wrong with admitting that one doesn't like to be in the spotlight. The media was tough on her, as it is on everyone.
And, there is nothing wrong with being a full-time mom and housekeeper!
I'd pay CASH MONEY to see that! But I don't think it would be Tina getting the beat-down!
The women can't form a coherent thought, or a coherent sentence. Maybe she should write a baby talk gobbledy-gook book.......
"Uneconomic"? Another created Sarah term. Perhaps babies would understand her, but I don't think we want the next generation learning the way she thinks! (Or doesn't as is the case frequently.)
And no, conservatives, this liberal isn't afraid of Palin. As a woman, I'm ashamed of her. She has embarrassed all intelligent, reasonable women and has set us back years. I still resent that the Republicans thought they could put just any woman on the ticket and win Hillary's supporters. What a slight to us all - and especially Hillary!
Ha - playboy! That's funny! I bet she'd earn more respect for that then a run for pres.
Whatever she does, I just hope she quits politics for good!
Watch it folks. There are women far and wide who strongly feel that Sarah Palin has been trashed unjustly. That she is an intelligent woman who was thrust into the limelight, and hung out to dry by a bunch of wolves in sheep's clothing in the McCain campaign. To them, she can do no wrong.
Ever listen to Mica Breszenski pontificate on all things Palin on "Morning Joe"? I
Nothing unjust re how Palin has been treated. She herself has earned every bit of trashing. If you actually attempt to make sense out of what she's saying, you'll hear that she's saying absolutely nothing.
Well, the fact is, she is not intelligent. She was trashed because:
1. At the beginning of the prez campaign they wouldn't let her make public comments or answer media questions.
2. When they finally let her speak and answer questions, she came off as ill-informed and a bit ditzy. She has continued making odd comments and seems to not fully grasp what being a politician means.
In politics, you have to be ON YOUR GAME! The interview with Katie Couric was very enlightening, it showed us that she doesn't have the knowledge or experience to be an adequate vice-prez (one step away from a world leader) She was not "thrust into the limelight." That would make her not liable for HER decision to accept the nomination, knowing full well that her past, her views, and anything she says would be under heavy scrutiny.
These women "far and wide" (i don't personally know any) need to understand that S. Palin KNEW what she was getting into: the dirty game of national politics, which has long been a man's game (though unfortunately so)
We need more strong AND genuinely intelligent women in politics...
I do think Tina Fey had a huge impact on Sarah Palin's career. Tina was so great, and so funny, and she did Sarah Palin better than Sarah herself.
(But Tina, 30 Rock isn't THAT good....)
Complete the cranial MRI that we have all been so curious about.
What is she gonna do next?Hopefully me! She hunts, fishes, rugged, beautiful, strong, what else does a man need. I'd give her my vote in 12
Anyone who takes any pre-taped interview as a good source really needs to think again. I've listened to the highest rated Cleveland talkshow host - he doesn't even vote. In his words, never do a pre-taped interview only do live interviews. Why? It's not that the final product might be altered, It will be alteredto make you look however good or bad the editor wants. If you see a negative interview on someone, they are not the interviewer's favorite person.
Media is never neutral. I studied on the top floor of a building where the school Journalism was in the basement. You can ask any journalism major, the reason they are studying journalism is not to report the news, it's to make a difference in the world, based on their beliefs of course.
That said, not everything the conservatives do is correct either. The most vicious don't get the national spotlight, so most people never see them. If those on newsvine think that Limbaugh and Hannity are bad, they are throwing softballs compared to a few I've have the misfortune to hear.
I hope she continues her life as the normal person she seems to be. With all the same issues and all the Happy Times that the majority of Americans share. I just don't hate her for being normal.
I think quitting the govenor job is a horrible step if she wants to be president. Just when it gets tough she quits. Not the president I would like to see. However...I would take her over Obama anyday!
They are both bad choices, I want a third option.
The hissy fit she had over Letterman's joke is a perfect example of how a president should NOT act. If she's going to lash out that way over every joke someone tells about her or her family she would not be able to handle the Presidency.
As for Obama ... I can't agree with 80% of his policies.
I hate to be the one to point this out, but she has brought much of what has happened in the media (including Letterman) on herself by becoming such a caricature of a politician.
When you become a laughingstock, there is no way to ever outlive it.
Capn--- Hissy fit? Are you for real? Let me make a Michelle Obama joke or better yet. Stay tuned,,,,, I have a Sasha Obama joke to spew.... hold on, it's coming, it's funny, and they are fair game............ Not on your life!! Children are not an acceptable butt of a joke, not hers, not his ,not mine, and if it takes a damn hissy fit, buddy, watch me throw one. You can debate her political views all day, but lay off the macho man take on "hissy" fits, since I heard her comments, watched them all and not once did I see a "fit", no throwing her body on the floor and kicking......get over yourself! Debate her political ideas not the way she defends her children.
There is nothing wrong with admitting that one doesn't like to be in the spotlight. The media was tough on her, as it is on everyone.
And, there is nothing wrong with being a full-time mom and housekeeper
The only problem is that she should have figured that our before she wasted the Alaskan voters time and money.
haha terri, she should have made one statement, through her public relations people, and left it at that.
Aparently you don't know the definition of a hissy fit. Maybe you define it as jumping on the floor and kicking, but the dictionary doesn't.
Aparently you have not seen political cartoons either, people make fun of the Obamas all the time, along with every single other president in history. Do they get in front of a camera, not just once, not twice, but for an entire week to complain about it to the entire nation? No, it's far from how a professional acts.
You're right, kids shouldn't be the butts of jokes, either clean and nice or as horrible as Letterman's. That said, Palin opened her family up to this kind of joke because she put them in the national spotlight. She had her kids at nearly every event. She took her little girl to a sports event to drop the puck and she got booed. She KNEW that this was going to be a somewhat hostile crowd, but she took her anyway.
On the other hand, Obama said clearly at the beginning that kids were off limits. Where were his kids for most of the campaign? At home, where they belonged. They were on the campaign trail very little, and only when it was appropriate for them to be there.
A lot of the media issues, she brought on herself. A lot of the ethics issues, she also brought those on herself. I really can't believe that those ethics complaints are the reason. She should have much thicker skin than that. And I'm sure that they weren't taking up all the time that she claims they were.
As for her resignation, I'm quite shocked. I never took her for a quitter. But, I will say, I'm glad she's going and hurting her future political aspirations in the bargain.
Maybe she just felt lonely, being a Republican governor and not having an affair.......
terri,
the "child" Letterman was referring to is the mother of Sarah Palin's grandson. Palin invited much of the attention she then claimed she deplored, and pulled her children into it from the getgo.
You have no idea what a disaster Sarah would have created as president! Forget the 3am phone call, she can't handle it when the media gets relatively tough on her and all her cronies call her out. Great backbone for a president.
I'd take Daffy Duck over Obama....
and Mickey Mouse over Pelosi...
As for Joe Biden? Maybe a bag of rocks..
You wouldn't want a quitter as the POTUS, but you think sh'd be better than Obama? SERIOUSLY?
Palin tried to slander Obama left and right with false accusations about him, yet he STUCK with it and PRESSED FORWARD through all the accusations.
Obama has been proving that he is NOT a quitter - one of the criteria you do not care for with Palin. So I seriously question your logic on having an inept, inarticulate, "when the going gets rough, I quit" type of person trumping someone who worked his way through school and his community to become our POTUS.
Wow.
The big difference is that the biased leftwing media circled the wagons around Obama, never dug down or even ASKED any questions concerning his connections, birthplace, experience. Sure, he pushed ahead....He was cocooned all around...might as well have been in a sound proof booth. No one was out to deliberately hurt his children, and you didn't heard the leftwing media making snide remarks about them, that they relished doing to the Palin children. You didn't hear any nasty comments about his children on FOX network either. They criticized him, yes, but never his children.
Maybe the reason the Palin children were with their mother is that in the case of the other candidates, a puddle jumper could get them back home to be with their families frequently, whereas, it's a long, long flight to AK, so rather than leave them alone, (BOY-O-BOY, would she have heard about THAT in the media!) she chose to have them close to her.
I do not think Sarah Palin is Presidential material. But she wasn't any worse than Biden for VP. I hope she doesn't run, and I think if she does, she won't get the nomination. But I don't think she deserves to be the butt of jokes, the victim of vicious rumors, and have the hurt just piled on her and her family by the media vultures and the Hollywood idiots.
It's a shame. Everyone is so critical of the ONLY Governor to ever have an approval rating over 85%! I'm not a huge fan of her and wouldn't vote for her for President , but remember before you criticize her for quitting the Governorship. OBAMA and HILLARY QUIT TOO! They quit their senate jobs to find interest in another political position.
If you ask me they are all living on our dime. They have made running this country a career and they do not work for us anymore! It's time for change...it is time for someone to step up in the Independent party!
Our forefathers would be sick about the new site Obama unleashed...
End22.com
How disgusting! He wants to make his presidency a career too!
I hope she does run. That will ensure Obama a LANDSLIDE 2nd term win.
In response to MomofTruth:

Sarah Palin's political life is over. If she was planning on running for any kind of office she should have finished out her term!!! That would have been the correct thing to do. Makes you wonder if for some reason American was silly enough to vote her into the presidents seat would she finish the term. She needs to go back to her Alaskan home town and be a good wife and mother. With a downs child she will need to be there for him!!! Wake up American and think before you vote for her again!!!!!
All you Dem's seem to be scared of this woman. Remember Clinton as he said, Now, I have to go back to work on my State of the Union speech, and I worked on it until pretty late last night. But I want to say one thing to the American people. I want you to listen to me. I'm going to say this again: I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky. I never told anybody to lie, not a single time; never. These allegations are false, and I need to go back to work for the American people. Thank you.
Clinton on January 26, 1998
Sarah Palin's political life is not over trust me
No, Bill Clinton, President of the United States, was impeached by the House of Representatives on December 19, 1998
So, Bass, are you saying that Clinton caused Palin to resign?
Or is it that you have to go back a decade to find something to say?
Childish name calling is all the ammunition left in the GOP artillery and people stopped being much intimidated by that when they learned the "sticks and stones" adage in their youth.
The truth about Palin is that in the campaign between Obama and McCain, McCain only led Obama in electoral votes by five days in the entire campaign. Those five days came just after McCain chose Palin, but before anyone knew anything about her. It was never a close election, but would have been closer if McCain had chosen almost anyone else.
Yes and he DIDN'T QUIT BECAUSE PEOPLE WERE BEING MEAN TO HIM. And I cannot begin to tell you how much I am not afraid of Sarah Palin. She is absurd. A joke. And a quitter.
Bass,
Try to stay on topic. We're trying to figure out whether Sarah is sleeping with Mark Sanford or if Todd is? Get with the program.
Bass, you're too funny. Thanks for proving the pointlessness of your arguments.
Why does every conservative throw this statement out time and time again as if it is some sort of ace in the hole.
No, on December 19, 1998
In reality this is just another indication that the Republican party and it's supporters still have no focus. If you really want to linger in the past try this one on.
In that same time period, late 1998, a man by the name of Phil Gramm was constructing a bill know as the Financial Modernization Act. You know the bill that essentially broke down and regulations between the commercial banks, investment firms and insurance companies. So while the conservative party was basking in the glow of an ultimately failed impeachment attempt, they let a bill through that many now look on as a key catalyst to the sub prime meltdown.
Last I recall, former President Bill Clinton's infidelities didn't result in people loosing their homes and retirement. Start taking a proactive interest in your government and stop throwing around a decade old and completely irrelevant scandal.
Bass forgot the aquitted by the senate part of Clintons history. Nice drop Bass...No Clinton fan ...but accuracy counts.
What Clinton did or didn't do is irrelevant -- and so is Palin's family saga. What counts is that she desperately lacked leadership skills and a grasp of the issues. Criticisms of her were pale in comparison to what she and her ilk dished out on Obama -- terrorist, socialist, communist, etc. It was all negative -- even her resignation speech was full venom toward her critics -- with no real substance.
Being in politics is very, very tough and Palin was unable to handle the pressure -- not someone I want in high public office and a heartbeat away from being leader of the free world.
As to her being picked on because she was a woman, there are millions of very intelligent, capable women in this country who could run circles around Palin in terms of executive skills.
I've wondered from the beginning what McCain and his team were thinking when they chose Palin. It was the biggest mistake of McCain's career. There were dozens of well-known Republicans who could have given Obama a run for his money. I'm sure there eventually will be books written by McCain insiders attesting to the idiocy of such a lame decision.
And now when Alaska needs leadership the most, Palin walks away. They needed her to be governor. Instead she gave away monetary reserves from the oil boom and now the state is in financial straits. So she runs away. It's easy to lead when there are no challenges.
Obama has nothing but challenges and messes to clean up. He is a true leader whereas Sarah Palin simply makes all of us women look silly.
Hey Samdaman,
You hit the nail right on the head especially with your analysis of my friend McCain. But really, don't we all know that Mr. McCain picked Mrs. Palin for her good looks and that she's a woman while overlooking more important issues such as qualities re leadership, ethics, intellect, acumen, etc?
Come to think of it, I'm starting to question him.
Dear, dear Bass... you are completely wrong about Democrats being afraid of Sarah Palin. In fact, we'd love to see her as the Republican presidential candidate in 2012. Nothing could give us a better chance of holding onto the White House for another four years. Please, Sarah, PLEASE throw your hat in the ring. It will save the Dems the trouble and expense of having to wage a campaign. So, Bass, PLEASE keep on supporting Sarah, and let her know that she is guaranteed at least 27% of the vote from her base (bass?). On behalf of all the libs & dems: many thanks for all you do. Keep up the good work.
Actually Obama's theories with regards to the stimulus etc, are very socialist. and his associations with Bill Ayers cannot be denied. The man was a member of a terrorist organization. Would you let him in your home?
Turn off the Fox "news" for a while and tune into the real world Judy.
His "association" with Bill Ayers was minimal compared to many Republicans who currently associate with him...and really....an overboard 60's activist turned professer who once served on the same board as Obama is the closest you can get to a "terrorist association"?? Have to reach pretty far for that one.
Gotta wonder...if Ayers is such a heinous 'terrorist'....why isn't he in jail?
Obama inherited a bankrupt country with all the major financial and manufacturing industries in crises. He's trying to stimulate the economy so it doesn't fail completely. It might work, it might not, but he wasn't left with a lot of options and he has to try. It's not socialist to try and prop up major institutions that do all the hiring so that you and all your friends and family can keep your jobs. Once the crises has passed (years from now) and all loans and bail outs are paid back, I'm sure some Republican president will be in office to take all the credit.
Right on!
Re: Bill Ayers, towards the end of the campaign it was revealed that McCain also has/had ties to Bill Ayers (and ACORN) as well, and the financial contributions he'd accepted by ACORN was a larger sum than associated with Obama.
I'm so OVER Palin's whining about sexism (neither she nor the Rep party came to Hillary's defense and called Hillary a whiner when she tried to complain about sexism during her campaign run), the media's scrutiny of her children (whom she whole-handedly THRUST into the media's path like sacrificial lambs) and herself (she keeps popping up with "statements" as soon as her name drops off the radar), and politics being a "blood-sport" (as she slanders and falsely accuses Obama of "palling around with terrorists, while she laughs off the fact that she had an exorcism performed on her in her church - thanks YouTube).
This woman is delusional, and I wish the publishing houses, movie studios, etc. would NOT reward her ridiculousness with a big bag of money. I wish she would just go away and let more intelligent, worldly women run for these higher offices.
She gives all of us women a very bad name, and now we're stuck having to bring our gender back from the brink of the dark ages (oh wait, she may not even believe that period even occurred. After all, according to her, the Earth is only 5,000 years old.).
Obama is no socialist, Judy. Too bad because a good dose of democratic socialism is just what we need after 29 years of unbridled, laissez-faire capitalism has brought our economy to its knees. But rest assured that Obama will never do anything not approved of by the fat cats who really run America.
As for Bill Ayers, I'd let him into my home a lot sooner than the "First Dude." Todd Palin belonged to a radical organization that called for the secession of Alaska from the Union and is thus arguably a traitor. And Sarah sleeps with this seditious piece of white trash every night.
From this perspective. Obama is a progressive, the latest in quite a number of presidents who were progressives
First progressive - Theodore Roosevelt
Woodrow Wilson
Herbert Hoover
Franklin Deleno Roosevelt
Lyndon B. Johnson
Jimmy Carter
George H.W. Bush
Progressives have a tendency to push policies for the good of all even though, the policies are not what Americans really have in mind. Progressive polices germinate from liberal idealogy but are interpreted more extremely. The chief difference between a progressive and liberal is that the pure progressive possesses the motivation actually accomplish the institution of their ideology.
Why the Liberal will accept less than a progressive? The liberal is more of a pollitician. If they fully implement what they promote, then there may be no reason to return them again. And if they completely fund their stated programs, the country could never pay for it. The most progressive states have the worst budget problems.
It's a Democrat's dream - Palin/Sanford or even Sanford/Palin in 2012!!!
Sarah is going to start her own talk show - like Rush. But really who cares she's yesterdays news.
She'll cause viewers to have epileptic fits at the sound of her screechy voice!
I know she had millions of dollars in law suits against her. I'm thinking that money may have been a huge reason that she resigned. And, yes, I think she's going to start her own talk show a la rush or hannity. She has a journalism background and a polarizing, nutty character. She'll fit right in.
She does have a degree (finally) in broadcasting. I think you're right on the mark. Since Rush has been such a Sarah promoter, I think it would be hysterical if she took his job away from him!! lol
If she were yesterdays news then millions of people wouldn't be so concerned about her popularity! Obama is destroying our country and there's nothing but MILLIONS of people of people who have lost their jobs because of his mindless decisions. The door is wide open for 2012.
How soon you forget. The big news stories in Bush's last few months were the failure of the mortgage industry, the banks and Wall street. Bush was the one who started all the "bailouts" with 7 billion before he left office.
Any president coming in after Bush ruined the country with his "self regulating capitalism" approach would have the same horrific problems to deal with that Obama does. Too bad there are so many partisans who do nothing but b*tch and not enough genuine Americans who are able to see the mess for what it really is and see when someone is working their a** off to try and clean it up. Be nice to see people care more about the country than their "side" for a change.
And the "spinning" begins. How easy it is for the Republican Party to conveniently "forget" that it was their party's president who started this economic freefall we're in today.
Obama is inheriting one of the worst economic situations of any president in our country's history, and instead of the parties coming together to get us out of this mess, people are seemingly doing everything they can to blame this whole thing on him and his administration.
The Repubs are hoping that by 2011 they can say "See, we told you he'd mess up this country. We can do better!"
This is one of the many reasons why I changed my party affiliation last year from Republican to Democrat. So tired of the Repubs insanity!
Cali, in the business world we say, if you have a good idea that you want killed give it to committee. Congress is the problem, not the president. The government was supposed to be three equal branches that keep each other on a steady path.
It was congress that started financial mess with an inadvisable relaxation of mortgage qualifications in 1992 and 1999. 1999 also introduced the value inflating mark to market property valuation policy. Couple that with the Jimmy Carter anti discrimination for lending executive order in 1977 (never reversed and shouldn't be).
This did a number of things, 1) made people eligible for homes they had no reasonable way of paying for. Even if they should have been turned down, if they were a minority, the banks did not dare turn them down. 2) the higher demand for homes grossly inflated values and fueled an artificially growing economy. 3) Most politicians wouldn't want to mess with a growing economy or deny people the right to a home. This could cause them to be defeated in the next election. 4) With the final failure to pass reform in 2006, there was no more talk about the problem, the Democrats had control of Congress.
The reality is, The Democrats had the Republican's neck in the noose. The Republicans wrote the legislation in 1999, and had failed to pass reform in 2006. All that was needed was to do was sit on their hands, claim nothing was done, they weren't told and let the noose tighten on the Republicans as the markets fell apart.
Obama will only get what Congress will give him. He will take full credit as long as the legislation is something like what he asks for.
I think Republicans see Palin as something like Ronald Reagan. Me, I'll sit back, take notes, and enjoy the show, . . . . sort of.
This move is going to cost her big time.
You never quit. Bush knew the public never liked him at the end, but he didn't just up and leave. You finish what you start, good or bad. She will make a nice amount of money on lectures and other events, however she did this to plan for her 2012 nomination. This foolish move effectively kills her chance though at becoming the first female president. This also hurts the GOP, because their party doesnt have a true leader, a person that could unite all of them, instead they have various people that only represent
Yeh, and wasn't she the one who talked about never being a quitter or giving up???
Duhhh, just another one of her idiotic remarks!!!
That is very true. You gotta hand it to the man - Bush II stuck it out until the very last bitter end. He didn't just throw up his hands and cry out "I'm outta here! The press is mean to me! Whah!"
Wow. If Sarah thinks the press was bad - just wait - should she decide to run for President, her own party is going to REALLY show her what MEAN is. They won't hold back either. If she can't take it now, she really won't take it then.
Yes Sarah, you ARE a quitter. Now get lost.
Isn't it weird that all of the Republican "figureheads" are not elected officials? Palin was one of the last ones, and she quit.
You guys aren't getting it. She's not a quitter; this is an unselfish act on her part. She's thinking about the state of Alaska. She knows it's better for the state if she steps aside because, like she said, she gets hit every time she does something, because liberals want her destroyed. She continues to be unfairly attacked, and it affects the progress she can make as governor. She loves her state enough to give the reins to someone else, so the state can move forward. You guys are as bad as the media, you got your ears covered up and won't listen to what she's really saying because you don't like her.
I think you missed the point, Monkeybarrel. Palin was elected to do a job. Now that the job is tough, because oil prices are way down and the Alaskan coffers are no longer full, she quits. Leaving a position that the people of Alaska trusted her to do for at least four years - and she takes off after 2 1/2 years. Really responsible behavior.
I disagree.
Bush's last year was damage control. He only did what he absolutely had to do to keep things from totally collapsing. This is why term limits is a bad thing. The 2+ year ramp-up to the National is also a disaster even if term limits (a stupid republican idea) were abolished. We really only get 3 1/2 years of maximum presidential effect IF the sitting president runs for a second term.
Resigning as the chief executive might create some ire with some people, but this Lieutenant Governor, who is running for Governor, just got a huge boost by becoming the sitting Governor. Instead of 30 months of a lame duck, they can have 30 months of an effective governor! All because the resigning chief didn't have a big ego or false modesty (staying on to do the work of the people).
Resigning, may hurt Palin, but not running again would hurt too.
Who cares what she does.......I have a sick feeling we havent heard the last of her.......
She definately preping herself for a run for 2012 - in her own way.
Hmm, If she really is preping herself for another run. And gets the nomination. Would be the opening for a third party to actually make a difference. Candidates like Perot would have won if she was the repub candidate. Just food for thought.
Can you imagine President Palin? "Well, I have decided not to seek a second term of office, so I'm going back to being a hockey Mom next month and turning over the reins of office to my Vice President. It's been a kick, but the constant media backlash and Tina Fey and David Letterman are just too, too, much."
Of course she will join Fox Network.
It is exactly what she will do...hey at least she will sell out publicly, which is more than what other politicians do
Actually I rather hope she goes the Faux News route... since I NEVER watch it, perhaps I would get Ms. Palin out of my life??? You betcha! lol
She'll go to the highest bidder. It's all about the money. She can make a lot more than 125K by espousing her whacked out views to the conservative choir than she governing. She's so eager for the pay off she won't even finish her term.
She's been a slow motion train wreck all along, sort of a standard bearer for what's happening to the republican party as a whole. Fascinating to watch in a sick "slow down to see the accident" kind of way.
I hope she does run for President. The Dems could then nominate Elmer Fudd and still win. What a dope!
You may be right Deb but in her mind I am sure thats what this is about. RUnning for President 2012 but she may run for Young's seat in 2010 as a stepping stone to 2012 race.
No loan2u, you are mistaken, elmer left office in january . . . th-th-th-that's all folks . . .
The only problem with Palin running for president in 2012 is that I'd have to listen to "you betcha" wink wink for two years during the campaign. Of course, it would be a given that Obama would have 8 years to clean up this mess left behind, so maybe I should take one for the best of the country and say go Sarah. ;) ;)
I didn't think she stood a chance for the nomination in 2012 before she resigned.
She can't complete a sentence, her thought processes are bizarre. She is stupid. You betch'a.
what did she real say at her press conference? What was her point and whats her reason for the resignation?
I've watched the press conference a couple times now, and I keep wondering the same thing. This is what I gather:
The legislative body keeps pushing policy through that she doesn't like, and refuses to sign. They're at a complete deadlock. Instead of "going with the flow" (this is where the salmon come in), and signing what comes across her desk and doing what the legislature desires, she's resigning on principle. She would rather quit her job than grow the government, take bailout money, etc.
I don't know much about Alaska politics, but that's what I've gathered. I may be wrong, and if others have a theory, I'd be willing to listen & consider it.
One of the problems is, that she gave away the oil reserve money to the population of Alaska (basically bribing for popularity) and now when the price of gas has gone down, the state of Alaska has no reserve. Whoops! And instead of facing that massive blunder of socialism, she quits and runs away.
I can't believe she has any supporters in the Republican party.... the only way she is a Repub is on social issues. She is a total clown.
I know what Sarah Palin will do (and it has been a source of bemusement for me ever since she announced her resignation). She will drive the Obamamites, and an assortment of other leftist loonies and the media, batty with her spot-on comments about their stupidities and ill-advised policies. They are afraid of her because they are utterly unable to ignore her or shut her up, although they might like to. She just won't go away. She will speak her mind to be heard all over the land and she will truly be a thorn in their sides. This is just a preview of attractions yet to come. I can hardly wait as the leftist loonies amass to seek to destroy her. They won't be able to! What a hoot!
From what I saw on the TV shows, it was the Republicans who were taking a crack at her.
Frankly all she can do is excite a few dedicated right wing followers - the leftwing nuts have absolutely nothing to fear from her.
Sonia, the only thing she destroyed was her own career. You don't quit when the tough times begin. Very bad decision on her part. The Democrats are not scared of her as you and all the right wing nuts think. We pity her because her fate was sealed when she QUIT. It's really a shame the Republican party is so dissheveled they don't know what to do. Listen to your own conservative commentators like George Will. He said she's through politically.
We leftist loons won't have to lift a finger. Ms. Palin is most adept at shooting off her mouth and shooting herself in the foot. She did not give a reason for quitting, so she still isn't being honest. She's like a disaster waiting to happen. "spot-on comments?" And that would be what? She speaks in general terms; she's never specific. And the phrases she does use are right out of the Limbaugh Handbook for Right Wing Fear-Mongering. Afraid of her? Ha. She has just blown any chance of higher office, and frankly, I don't think her book will sell either, since she didn't even finish her term. I know, poor Sarah. She was so picked on and the media didn't leave her alone. I just wonder what would have happened had McCain's people called her last August and she had said, "Gosh, that's a huge honor, but you know, I just had a baby who really needs me, and my teen is pregnant, and SHE needs me, and you know, I am a new Governor too, so I guess this isn't the best time. Could you call back in 4 years?" THAT would have shown maturity and care for her kids. You betcha.
One other thing Sonia, the people of Alaska voted for her and elected her to serve the full term. Instead this past Friday she gave the 'middle finger' to every voter in Alaska that put their trust in her. How could anyone voter for her again? The best thing for her to do is go back and get her dysfunctional family in order.
Do you know her in the biblical sense(a la Sanford or Ensign)? Who's scared of her spot a pot comments. Ignore or shut her up, please no, the entertainment value is just priceless-LOL. NEWS FLASH! Not only has she become a quitter-I've heard she going to change her name to Sarah Ima Bailin. And lastly, since when can anything come out of vacuum aside from space debris-oops maybe she is a flaming out star.
Not so fast,,,, Biden is the most adept politician today at shooting himself in the foot, and he has had a wonderful career. He is second in line to Obama-- how did that happen?
terri ..there is a big difference. Biden does it without aiming. She takes a bead on her foot and pulls lightly on the trigger till .....BANG.
Despite sometimes letting his mouth precede his mind, Biden has involved in crafting public policy for decades. As a legislator he has sponsored many bills that have made their way through Congress. He has practical experience in understanding how government works. His record on the issues, which some right wingers may not like, is there for everyone to see.
Palin showed she really didn't have a grasp of how government works or what an elected official is supposed to do. All she did was attack the other side.My rule-of-thumb on choosing who to vote for has always be, "What WILL you do and HOW will you do it?" not, "What did the other guy do wrong?"
I sometimes wondered if someone were to really delve into why she says what she does, she would say, "Uh-mm, that's what Republicans are supposed to do. Right? You betcha!
The leftist loonies better enjoy their BRIEF time in the spotlight, because in Nov '10 it ends - for 25-30 years.
She might drive me crazy discussing things "uneconomic". Her "you betcha" wink wink drove me insane too, but I don't recall EVER hearing her right on about anything. This is the woman who thought she understood foreign relations because she could see Russia from her porch. The woman who couldn't name a single newspaper she reads for information. The woman was a staunch Republican but knew nothing of the Bush Doctrine. She drove me crazy alright, but not the way you think!
Your right about one thing Sonia she won't just go away quietly. But you are kidding yourself if you think Dems or leftist loons as you call them are afraid of her. Afraid of what? Palin is all about Palin. She can try to talk her way around the questions (as she always has done) that are presented to her but anyone with a brain can hear her side step a direct answer. A true sign of a politican (BSer) and not a smart one at that. I must say I can't stand her but I sure do find her entertaining.......
Palin will eventually if she hasn't already by this last stunt bring herself down. She has no substance and to be the Pres it takes more than a quitter when things aren't going their way. Geez I actually have to admire George W for not quitting (by her standards he could of should of quit a long time before his term was up) I am sure the idea was tempting to him however you just don't quit on people who put you in office..... She is a nut case on the loose!
My guess is she is going where the money will lead her and it won't be in politics.
Apparently Sarah has never heard the old maxim: It's better to keep silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and be known for a fool.
No, we're not hoping she'll shut-up... the more she talks, the more I laugh. And (another old maxim) laughter is the best medicine. Keep going Sarah - you could help decrease the cost of health care due to universal laughter. Speak, Sarah, Speak!!!!!
How can she drive anyone crazy with her spot-on comments when nobody can understand a thing she says. But maybe that's a good thing. She must have read a dictionary, but neglects to properly place words in a sentence. In fact, she rarely finishes a sentence. She is one scary lady anyway you look at her, and it's scary that she has supporters. I wonder why.
Can you imagine President Palin? YES WE CAN 2012
Dream on! How do you expect her to get through the Republican debates with intelligent people like Romney and Sebelius? They will not be easy on her, and whoever comes out on top will NOT choose her as his/her running mate. Theere isn't enough time for her to cram all the history, legislative decisions, geography, and plain knowledge of English grammar into that head by 2011. Not since she has to write her book and make speeches all over the country (all for her kids, of course.)
Only the most moronic Repug right winger can imagine Simple Sarah doing anything except selling her soul for a seat next to one of the idiots on Faux News. Come to think of it, even those dummies can put together sentences that have subject, verb, object, etc. Once they realize that someone might have to teach her how to read the correctly parsed sentences written for her, she won't have to do what she does best: QUIT.
Prospective donors for her fantasy run for the Presidency in 2012 will have to be as deluded as she is or Democrats that would love her as the Repug nominee. I like the nun idea but the last time I heard the Catholic church doesn't speak in tongues and has no witch doctors.
Maybe she can become Alaska's version of Tonya Harding.
I hope she runs. The 20% of Republicans who love her might support her, but I think one generally needs a few more votes to win than that!
That's what I said about President Barack Obama back in 07 Dream on!, but he won
President Palin coming in 2012
Ethics matter. She seems to get upset when being investigated for abuse of public money. Taking a per diem for living in your own house? Come on. She would be worse as a president.
She could have a role in a Wizard of Oz movie, she would be great singing 'If I only had a brain...'. The part fits perfectly.
Bass, I hadn't heard that Palin was running for PTA President again. Believe me. That's the ONLY President Palin in her future! Silly rabbit.
Bass, please...your starting to sound like her! Hey wait a minute ,are REALLY Sara?
Bass is our very own version of Borat ... playing the fool & stirring up a hornet's nest for amusement. Good work Bass: again, I'm splitting my sides with laughter. I advise you to sell your house & car and donate everything you've got to her 2012 campaign, and then go knocking on doors to campaign for her, instead of wasting your time on this chatter. Put your money where your mouth is!
George, I think she already is Alaska's version of Tonya Harding.
Even with all the "family values" republican adultering governors, lavatory Lothario's and page prefering pedophiles, Sarah is still the most entertaining and hilarious road show the conservatives have to offer. Nothing would please me more than to see her run in 2012 but I think this quitting is her way of saying she's going to follow the money, not the presidency. She was always unelectable on the national stage, and quitting an elected office makes it final. Too bad. I was so looking forward to the SNL sketches.
She needs money to get out of debt and my guess is there will be big bucks for her on the lecture circuit and probably a bool deal. Maybe she can do a radio show that will air right after rush. The radio staion can promote them both: "Now listen to Dumb and Dumber".
I think she's going to rake in the money to fund her presidential war chest. She's the democratic party's dream girl. What an egotistical, uneducated moron. I don't care if she can see Russia from her house, she obviously can't see how bad she would be for our country. Alaska is better off without her. Please, please go away Sarah Palin, and take Rush and Elizabeth H. (the view) with you.
Pose for Penthouse?! Oh please, please!!
What a moron!!
Truly, that would be Her best move! !!! Think of all the furor, scandal, shock, debate/discussion that would ensue, If She actually posed nude for Penthouse. Bob Guccione couldn't keep up with the demand for that issue, the printing presses would be working full-bore tilt 24/7! !!! Even if She only gained 10% of the revenue generated from Sales/Publicity, She'd have more money than She'd know what to do with! !!!
She is many things but stupid isn't one of them.
Watch closely, in her "ongoing" efforts to serve " the people of Alaska", she will next appear as a Senior Vice President for EXXON, BP, or CHEVRON.
Then she'll build a REALLY BIG natural gas pipeline and all it will have cost is John McCain's presidential hopes.

I hope she does cash in big! All the idiot talking heads are making big bucks off of her- let Palin get her fair shair.
