The chairman of the Republican Party is contending that President Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize as result of his "star power" rather than meaningful accomplishments.
GOP chief scoffs at Obama winning peace prize
Seeded on Fri Oct 9, 2009 11:09 AM EDT (msnbc.com)

I feel sorry for the Republicans and their disbanded and lost members. Their hatred has no bounds! I am continually surprised at the stabs and vitriole that comes out of these peoples party at every aspect of PRESIDENT OBAMA'S administration and personality. Jimmy Carter was right - They have a token black person saying all the things that white republican party members wish they could say....
You've got that right. Steele is the figurehead who can say all manner of nasty things about Obama that the real power brokers in the GOP don't dare say. He seems to have no clue that he is being played the fool. I bet Steele is as popular in the black community as the bubonic plague.
I just got a Nobel Peace prize this morning out of a box of Frosted Flakes.
I appreciate Michael Steele, one black man telling it how it is. I'm sure the Dems will figure out a way to make Steele a racist anyway.
According to MSNBC's own poll, only 23% think he deserves this.
I mean hell, Obama was nominated in the first two weeks of his presidency, which pretty much means he won on the basis of campaign rhetoric ( perhaps his as-yet unfulfilled promises to close Gitmo or end the Iraq war )?
Stupid comment; sounds like you jealous
Huh? Why are the GOP siding with the Taliban against my President?
The GOP has put itself in a very difficult position. By making itself to be the party opposing every one of President Obama's efforts, they have created an awkward situation. In order for the GOP to succeed, it literally has to hope the country fails.
It looks like health care is going to pass in some form. For the GOP to win, it needs to pray that the reform fails, and Americans suffer as a result. I'm not necessarily saying that every conservative personally wants the country to fail (though some clearly do). But politically, the GOP has taken such a contrary position that, only through the misery and suffering of the American people can it succeed.
Whether or not health care, Obama, and American people manage to improve this country, that is still a very difficult position for the party to be in. Of course, they did it to themselves, by choosing to be the party of can't & won't.
everybody get togeather and try to love one another right now.........~right now~
Muna~ that was a pretty nasty thing to say...you accuse the Republicans of all kind of nasty things, yet your post has just as much venom in it then those that do feel loss, fear and are without hope(No they do not have a strong leader for their party)..but I don't believe you are sorry at all...and actually many Republicans and Independents did vote for this President...you are painting half of your fellow country men and women with an awfully negative brush...
Come on the guys in office for 2 weeks and gets nominated. And you think people hate the man. Now that's sick. How about the fact that just maybe he really hasn't done to much on the peace side since he was what a senator for 2 years and just elected and in office for 2 weeks when he got nominated. Ya think?
Excuse me? I just heard on the news that we're going to give the Taliban a partial role in the Afghan government. Tell me who is really siding with the Taliban?
If Obama deserves a peace prize, then I deserve a ****ing Pulitzer prize for my contributions to Newsvine. And I'm not even a Republican, so can it.
The GOP is, dewintre200. I thought I posted that. They want the President to fail like the Taliban does. What part of that don't you understand?
And last year the dems sided with the Taliban against Bush...
You guys are just as sensational as the pubs....
Once again the PARTY OF NO has spoken! Such a sad vision of the world and America they paint. Their constant hatred of everything outside of their tiny spectrum of perception is truly loathsome to behold.
Steele is not a racist, he is a sellout. What he says and what he does is only marginally connected with his race. He's simply sold his soul for a position. See Thomas, Clarence. All the Repubs are saying is, "Sour grapes."
Mr Rogers, I refuse to insult you, but your "Yabut ..." post feels a bit like a troll.
Right you are - this has brought out those "nattering nabobs of negativity" - instead of being proud of our President, the right wingers are throwing poop at the nobel committee. It just goes to show you that they'd rather see the country fail under Obama - talk about "sore losers". Bad manners, poor attitude & downright mean behaviour.
It is a shame. Instead of seeing this as the honor it is to OUR COUNTRY (including the GOP), we have pundits criticising the selection and whether someone else was better qualified to get it.
The Nobel committee selected the US President and the society he represents - all of us. So accept it as the honor it is to Ameriica and seek ways you can contribute to achieving our international objectives. And stop criticising the Nobel committee. I for one think it would be pretty great for America to earn a better reputation in the world than we have had for the last decade or more.
Jesus Christ! Just when I thought I couldn't despise the Republican Party and everything they stand for more, they manage to take their crybaby vitriol to new heights! If anybody in their rotting corpse of a political party were even nominated for something half as distinguished they'd be self-fellating themselves all over the news for a week!
Too true -- rather than celebrating that this award has gone to an American -- the GOP now downplays its significance (then why comment at all I wonder). This is the same group (of Christians?) that was cheering that we did not get an Olympic host bid. Hatch is correct -- a conservative republican is unlikely to win this award.
Amazing that they don't see the disconnect.
Would you Libs be celebrating if George Bush got the award??? After all, it is an American President. Somehow I doubt it so stop your whining you bunch of hypocrites. Great at dishing it out (because you get plenty of practice being out of power) but you can't take it.
I further think it is funny, hilarious even that Chris Wallace keeps jumping on the bandwagon of Obama bashing.Wallace is a loser who couldn't cut it on the networks despite the name recognition from his father so he had to jump to a pathetic cable station like Faux to even hold onto a job and then he only does it by being a mouthpiece for Rupert Murdoch. What a clown!
Again, the Republicans are the biggest bunch of sore losers ever. That actually wouldn't be sayingmuch since nobody likes losing really, except that they are the most disgusting, arrogant, and completely void of humility winners too.
Yeah couldn't cut it on the networks with Dan Rather, Tom Brokaw, Charlie Gibson, Katie Couric, etc and the rest of the REAL reporters. Give it a rest.
Michael,
You don't by any chance remember what gracious losers the Dems were in 2000 and 2004 do you??? The hypocrisy and ignorance is amazing!!
This is the best part of the article:
But you see Mr. Hatch, in order to win a PEACE prize you have to work for peace. Since conservative Republicans only work for war, it would pretty stupid to give them a peace prize.
Hilariousness....
George W Bush couldn't win a Cracker Jack Prize even if he opened the box himself. Between Cheney and Bush - I haven't decided which one was the most disgusting - Drunk George or Darth Cheney. Okay - just decided - Bush was the puppet (Howdy Doody would have been a better president) So I guess Cheney wins that award for most disgusting.
There - now all you republicans got an award - Cracker Jacks Award for Stupidity, Sub-humanity and the most UN-AMERICANS ever. Sarah Palin will be accepting this award on behalf of all you republicans with a long winded disjointed speech to make your ears bleed.
Now try to be proud of our country and our president. The world sees us in a better light - too bad you republicans continue to speak out of your ass and the world sees you as idiots.
Doesn't bother me, the elections are going to be phenomenal for our President Obama.
Ummm...Westbury64, Obama didn't illegally rig the vote in the Nobel system as was done in the presidential elections in 00 an 04. The largest travesty of our political lifetime will be the stolen elections of those years.
Well alrighty then... the Taliban and the GOP are in agreement.
basedrum,
Ah, there's that "losing with dignity" that Michael was looking for. We'll here all the whining again soon enough.
Such 'patriotism' from GOP!!
Yes, they will take nasty swipes and a lot of sour grapes in the usual style.
Fact is, the world has been watching closely and they see a man of substance in President Obama.
He has demonstrated that we must work as a global community in the 21st century, and was working to end nuclear proliferation and passed legislation even before being elected. His vision and actions have been recognised.
Congratulations America!!
base,
You also should get used to losing elections. In the past 30 years, the Dems have only won 3 presidential elections. Two they could have lost except that the Repubs put up pathetic candidates (Dole and McCain) and one that was a 3 way race won with only 43% of the vote. You better pray for something strange in 2012 or you'll be back to your usual spot, on the outside looking in.
@Westbury- Not really, was too young then. Just so you know, I'm not a fan of the Democrats either, because they have no balls. While I despise the Republicans for the disgusting, soulless, heartless wastes of flesh they prove themselves to be on a daily basis, at least they have gumption while being evil! Oh, I meant "compassionate." (Yeah, right!)
Well, if you were too young to remember the whining of the Dems...Heck they're still whining about those elections...you should get a better perspective on past history before proclaiming one party the "biggest" bunch of sore losers.
Well, I see all the Acorn posters are out in full force today !!!
Racist!!!!!!!
Of course we would have been proud if Bush had won a Nobel Peace Prize. But it never would have happened because they don't give them out for starting stupid useless wars and robbing the country blind!
Also, people keep saying that he won it after weeks in office. No, he was nominated after just weeks in office, but the voting wasn't until later. The voting happened after most of the rest of the world (except blind, stupid republicans who hate our President just because of who he is) could see that he was really working to make a difference and has changed for the better the way the rest of the world perceives the US.
Add another one to the acronym definition list ---
GOP === Grumpy Old People
GOP === Greedy Old People
Michigan voter,
You morons keep trying to justify why George Bush wouldn't or shouldn't get the award, but when we do the same about Obama, you say "why can't you just be proud of an American President". The hypocrisy is unbelievable!!!
Muna, you are an ignorant person. Maybe you can explain WHAT Obama has done to earn this award. Especially, please tell us what was done that fit within the "qualification period" of twelve days after his being sworn in as President. Oh, maybe it was his "apology tour"!
So far I've seen NO distinction between what Bush II said and did compared to what Obama has said and done to date. Both have vocalized a desire for world peace and harmony, both have contributed in their own way to waging war. Tell me I'm wrong. Since 2004 the left was treating Bush II the same way the right treats Obama now. Tell me I'm wrong.
That said, to award Obama this prize on the basis of what he campaigned on is disingenuous at best as his actual accomplishments may very well be contrary to what he promised. As usual he is all talk, no action. By the way I support Obama's efforts in Afghanistan, that is so long as he's committed to winning the war and giving the troops what they need to finish the job.
Now you can't be serious with your comments. Ask yourself---what has Obama accomplished to win this award???? Granted, he gives great speeches and talks at 50K feet about the way "things should be". HE HAS ACCOMPLISHED NOTHING!!!
If this was 2 years from now and there were peace in the Middle East, we were out of Irag, etc. then I'd say Yes, he has earned the award.
Unfortunately, Obama has been placed in some good company---Hitler, Stalin, Mussoline, Arafat and, of course, Kissinger, Carter and Gore. All those names say something about how Nobel Peace Prize winners are chosen.
*Rolls eyes* Ok, Westbury. I'll just acquiesce to your obviously unbiased aged wisdom. Pffft!
What is it you are "rolling your eyes" about?? You feel that it's okay to brand somebody with a tag such as "biggest", "worst", etc. without having anything to compare it to??? You are a Democrats dream, tow the company line without researching the past.
"The real question Americans are asking is, 'What has President Obama actually accomplished?'," Michael Steele stated.
Now there is a wonderful statement from a man who is the laughing stock of his own political party and rumored to be the leader of that party. LOL. Mike, you need to find a new line of work because you are not intelligent enough to go anywhere in politics, unless there is a vacant council seat in Atlanta.
I see all the Obama supporters have crawled out from under their rocks to try and shout down Mr. Steele.....Shows what a bunch of low life's Obama supporters really are.....How dare someone disavow their God......
This in reality is a travesty of the highest order and is SO NOT DESERVING of Obama.....
If, just if Obama had actually done something to deserve this Medal, though I think he is a low life lying SOB, I would not have anything to say...But he is not deserving of anything remotely close to this...maybe a Jack in the Box sticker or decoder ring Maybe!
If I was a Nobel Prize winner I would return my Medal to show how disgusted I was with the nominating committee....
The republican party acts more like the terrorists loons every day. Kill everything that they don't agree with, hide behind religion, and always seeking more power for themselves. Shame on the republican party. The party of Lincoln, of which i once belonged, has been taken over by bunch shameless hooligans.
SAGGG- either your stupid , color blind , or just plain ignorant. Your President did not do anything to earn this prize. Since coming into office he has accompished zero, NOTTA , NOTHING. Unless you can educate America or the world otherwise with any evidence of accomplishment on Obamas front ---SHUT UP
Steel, and his do nothing, party of NO douche bags, criticizing the fact that President Obama breathes air, is just sickening. Their hatred, jealousy, uncalled for criticism of our President is nothing short of despicable in my opinion. Let the cry babies cry, criticize, object, comment negatively all they want, because the more this happens the more the rest of us realize they are a lost party, with no leadership that matters, and just plain mean spirited.
President Obama is facing the hard decisions, the issues that need addressing and revising, doing the righ thing, and working through an abomination that he was left with after 8 years of the rule of King George II/ "George the Terrible". I admire President Obama and wish him all the success possible in his efforts to put this country back together again.
Lep,
You talk about the hatred, jealousy, uncalled for criticism of Obama and then go directly into Bush bashing in the next praragraph. The hypocrisy is laughable. Were you asleep the past 8 years???
Muna
Please live in reality
What in the hell did he accomplish in 11 days. That is when the names of nominations had to be in. That's correct, 11 days after he was elected the nominations had to be turned in. So please do the math. Everything he has supposedly accomplished took place after he was nominated. This doesn't rake away from what he has tried to accomplish after he was nominated, it only takes away from why he was nominated. So exactly what did he do in the 11 days after he turned president. It had to take place in those 11 days because he was on the campaign trail before that and didn't have time to hardly scratch himself let alone try to bring peace to the world. It's a Bogus award. Maybe down the road a year or two but certainly no reason for the award this year. He's undeserving remember its the Nobel Peace Prize not a an Emmy. He acttually in my mind is very deserving of an Emmy.
Good GOD! Why can't the Republican leadership in this country feel pride that THEIR democratically elected president, the leader of THEIR country, has won such a prestigious award? Who CARES if he was in office for two weeks when the nominations were due? The leader of the United States of America, YOUR leader, has changed the face of this country to the world and has been recognized for it. The rest of this planet actually APPRECIATES diplomacy and cooperation.
The GOP continues to marginalize themselves into irrelevancy. The world has moved on, haters. Catch up or shut up, PLEASE!
Why does the right hate America and American ideals so much? These right-wing Fundamentalist sound just like the Taliban voices out of Afghanistan. An AMERICAN President just won the Nobel Peace Prize and the right can do nothing but spew hatred! As proud Americans should we not be applauding the fact that the world is applauding an American President. This award is as much a pat on the back for the American Electorate for selecting a man of color with a vision for the WORLD that is inclusive and peaceful, as it was for Obama himself. Americans should be proud of our country and our President for showing the world the the direction towards peace.
Obama has death squads preparing to eutanise old people in their sleep and he wants to hypnotise our school children into his cult but, wins the Nobel Peace Prize along the way. Republican fear-mongering doesn't miss an opportunity... If Obama said it was Friday, they'd call him a liar... Oh wait, is Joe Wilson still there?? What credibility Republicans had that survived George W. Bush is just about all gone. You better straighten up your act, before your left in our dust.
Ripcity,
Bravo! Well Said!
Please people.. I am not even republican and never voted for either Bush but if you can't see this as a political ploy that further damages the cred of the Nobel price then you are just as blind FOR Obama as the pubs are against.
michigan voter
Of course we would have been proud if Bush had won a Nobel Peace Prize. But it never would have happened because they don't give them out for starting stupid useless wars and robbing the country blind!
No, they just give them out for continuing stupid useless wars and robbing the country blind!
Our current congress and President are total failures so far. I'm a conservative who doesn't like seeing this country fail but the policies we have seen since the democrtats took over congress are causing this country to fail. I'm glad you libs have something stupid to celebrate today. The peace prize will do nothing to help the United States get through this current mess that we are in. Tell your prize winner to get busy fixing the economy.
What does that mean, that all black men are supposed to circle the wagons and can't be fiscally conservative?
12 Days in ofice and he gets nominated,
Wow, And by a bunch of socialists clowns in Norway
Before You Silly Libs Celebrate Obama's Nobel Prize? LMFAO!!!
We must remember the KOFI ANNAN GOT A NOBEL PEACE PRIZE!
Which is proof that you can be a destructive appeasing incompetent and STILL get a Nobel PRIZE!
Being black I guess helps too.
LMFAO!!!
What's MOST funny and DESTRUCTIVE about all this?
Is the WORLD'S REACTION. The world is snickering and rolling their eyes. Laymen and experts all over the world are LAUGHING at this.
Barack Hussein Obama's NOBEL PEACE PRIZE's chief effect will be mockery and laughs and will be symbolic for his ineptitude and failures.
Woe is America.
Republicans are just jealous. They have not organization, no plans, no leader and no future for themselves or the country. They are a dying breed. So all they have is complaining and NO and teenager gripes. Every-time I turn on the TV all I hear is a group that sounds like my teenager complaining about school and life. I just wish they would shut up and start thinking for themselves and come up with something instead of trying to stay in this group. They are like the KKK they are just slowly dying off and the rest of the world just passes them by laughing at them and feel sorry for them that they just don't get it and never will. Obama has a mind that is stronger than the fist and the rest of the world wants to use Minds over stones. Republicans still want to use Bush and Darth Vader policy swords and guns and bombs. Talk is cheap. Guess who uses the Bible now for Peace?
I guess that pretty much ties Obama's hands on Iran. ;)
Who is Steele--"a two-bit"-- nobody shooting off his mouth. What has he done that is of note worthiness besides shoot off his pie hole, like the little ego.
read: a Course in Miracles and you'll get a whole new perspective about egos.
Barack Hussein Obama's Major Milestones as of October 2009:
Cash For Clunkers.
Cap and Trade.
Attempting to Socialize Medicine.
Nobel Peace Prize.
LMFAO!!!
What this REALLY DOES is continue to make a Mockery of Deserving Peace Prize Winners like:
Martin Luther King.
Mother Teresa.
Wow!
First, I agree that Obama really hasn't done anything yet to deserve the peace prize.
However, the claim that the right wants Obama to fail, even if it means the US fails, has some serious merit. Look at the reaction of the right to our losing out on the Olympics. You actually had Americans cheering at an American failure. Many of them are the same people that just a few years ago were telling us it was near treason to not support our president during wartime. I don't expect everyone to agree with everything that Obama does...but cheering at the US lossing the chance to host the Olympics is over the top. So much for "country first".
Not long ago they screamed "the wold has rejected Barack Hussein Obama" when Chicago failed to win Olympic bid... Now the world... given him undeserved prize! LOL Pitiful creatures, wishing failure upon their own country.
Maybe he's getting the prize for neutering the United States so we're no longer a threat to the peace loving middle east.
grant-574290
SAGGG- either your stupid , color blind , or just plain ignorant. Your President did not do anything to earn this prize. Since coming into office he has accompished zero, NOTTA , NOTHING. Unless you can educate America or the world otherwise with any evidence of accomplishment on Obamas front ---SHUT UP
-------------------
I've obviously hit a nerve with you, grant, which tickles me to no end. I appreciate that you're showing your misplaced anger at me, but why are you asking ME what President Obama's done, anyway? Why aren't you asking the committee? As far as I'm concerned, President Obama was given the award for one thing, and one thing only, and if you get from behind that blind, right-wing rage that's keeping you willfully ignorant, you'd see it as well: He ain't George Bush. President Obama's working for PEACE, which is what the Nobel Peace Prize represents. Bush believed in WAR to get what he wanted, and particularly doing it in a unilateral way. You gotta work with others to get things done internationally, that's just the way it is. And this is a free country, dude. I'll speak whatever I want.
I havent done anything noteworthy in the last 10 months so wheres my prize?
Oh hell I'm an employed white male. I dont get prizes, I get to support illegals and get called a racist if I question anything his majesty does.
When is your next Letterman appearance Mr. Pres.?
How dare the GOP Chief question the accomplishments of what has come to be this country's Messiah. Why everyone throughout the world knows what POTUS Obama has accomplished. Lets see:
(1) He has spent more money and accomplished less with it than any president in history.
(2) He has made more speeches that days he has been in office.
(3) He has given the order to close GITMO with no clue as to where to put those detained therein.
(4) He is without a doubt the one of the most popular presidents in the history of our country, especially in the Muslim world .
(5) He has done what no other U.S. President has done and bowed down to kings of Muslim countries and apologized for our retaliatory actions since 9/11/01.
(6) He has spent more time away from the White House globe trotting than most other presidents who have been in office for a like time.
(7) He is about to ram a national health care bill down our throats that will finish his goal of financially ruining this country, the same health care plan that is good enough of us but that he and Congress would not lower themselves to accept, and at the same time gaining a large measure of control over American citizens.
(8) Next he and congress will increase taxes to cover their expensive socialistic ideals.
So yes HOW DARE the GOP Chief say Obama has done nothing! To think he has only been in office just short of 10 months. I can hardly wait to see what he will do in the remaining 3 years and 2 months he has left.
This should make a good book: The follies of B.O. Obama. Or perhaps, a horror film titled something like Obama the destroyer .
2010 we get their attention. 2012 we show them what REAL HOPE AND REAL CHANGE IS. Vote independent as much as possible. With just a few exceptions, the Republicans and Democrats have both had their chances and gone from bad to worse.
Watching you retardicans post on here reminds me of the white trash, loud mouth parent at the kids football games. You are an embarrassment to your kids at the field. You say you will push your values on your kids, not some damned President that is trying to indoctrinate 'em, yet you fail to realize that it is likely your kids will reject ever ideal you cling to and rebel against you before they graduate high school. You are an embarrassment to them and yourselves. Your hatred and stupidity and resistance to change is ignorant. Every grand benefit we have achieved, from FLSA of 1938 to Women's rights and Civil rights has come on the heels of change and with great stupidity and resistance from the idiots. If we were not open to change as a race, we'd still be living in the dark ages, farming, hunting and gathering for food and traveling by foot or horse. I'd hate to be a neocon and have to look at my stupid face in the mirror each night.
You're kidding right Clotho?? EVERY party disagrees and goes against the party in power...You act like this is news...So please stop being a hypocrite. Obama didn't deserve this now. He hasn't done anything but talk....Will he in the future? We won't know until it happens...
But as of now?? He didn't do anything in the 2 weeks before the nominations except blow smoke and blame Bush....As someone in the article stated this was given on expectations....And what if he does crap in 4 years....Will he have to give it back??
No, he had ACORN handling that for him.
All of you liberal clowns rip on Steele all you like, the plain fact of it is, that he is smart enough that he can see past the color of his skin to whats better for the country as a whole...and it sure as hell ain't Obama..."sell-out"...what a rediculous and simple-minded statement
What a f-in joke! Almost as much of a joke as this pathetic President!
Hey goofballama- how many troops died in Afghanistan while you were giving your ego another stroke accepting your prize for doing absolutely nothing! He's got all the time in the world to pump himself up, while our military is giving their lives for a cause he can't seem to make a decision about. He's got time for another useless lame-ass speech - but no time to talk to the commanders in his charade of an attempt to look like he gives a crap about Al-Qaeda.
Hope this award keeps you warm at night while you have put our troops in harms way!!!
How many died after Bush declared mission accomplished in Iraq? Obama didn't start these wars but he will end them with a clear strategy of what we will do with more troops. What is the mission in Afghanistan. Kill everybody? Kill the Al Qaida? Kill the Taliban? Implement a government of democracy on the land whether they want it or not. Afghanis are not civilized people. They live in mud huts with no running water or electricity for crying out loud. If I were a soldier and the word was to send 40,000 more tropps, I'd want to know what the hell we were supposed to accomplish as an objective before I pack my ruck sack. That was an arrogant and ignorant assed post 1.75.
I for one am proud that we have a leader so honored by a committee of thoughtful and morally bound individuals.
It pains me to see the disgust with which the idealogues, racists, and shills treat this honor to our President. He has exhibited fortitude, wisdom, and resolve in his handling of the office and his approach to both domestic and foreign policy.
Many, if not all, on the conservative side, and on the liberal left should condemn this assault from some hyped up hypocritical yahoos on the values of our system, and the quality of our leader.
This is the rable that called for Barabas.
you still have not answered the questions of what has he done but instead started labeling those who ask the question in an effort to discredit them. So for all of us who want to engage in a civilized discussion, what do you think he has achieved in the first 12 days of this presidency to earn such an award?
Liberals - What hypocrites you are!!! For 7 years you bashed President Bush! FOR 7 YEARS!!!!!
Now all of a sudden you expect civility towards your "progressive socialist."
Get used to it. When Obama does something dumb, stupid, arrogant, and bashes MY country, I will speak out about it! Your argument does NOT hold water that we, as conservatives, should keep quiet about the BLUNDERS of Obama.
spg64....please give me an example of an American Ideal?
Also, if lets say Russia was to attack us, Do we have the right to fire back at them? You know, defend ourselves.
JMonarchy....You are a lemming....You'd follow Obama into a pool of sharks just because it wasn't Bush.....
Bush started one war...Iraq...For those of you who bit** about Afghanistan, it was a world united for that one and it was because the country HARBORED THE TERRORISTS WHO ATTACKED THE WORLD....
Those two are apples and oranges...But of course not for people like you because Bush was in power....
Thanks god you aren't a soldier..Because soldiers who think they have all the answers are usually the ones who don't make much of an impact....They sit around and do crap....
So looks like YOU are the ignorant ass JM.....
SPG64 - Here's where you are wrong. If Obama actually did something to deserve the award then we'd be united in support. Since the award is nothing but eye-candy and totally meaningless we can't get behind it.
It's called integrity. Look up the word, you might actually be surprised as to it's meaning.
It seems you liberals will support and defend Obama even when he doesn't deserve something. That is a lack of integrity (remember, look up the word).
When important things like the Nobel Peace Prize are handed out to people that haven't done anything to deserve them, they lose their importance. Mediocrity sets in and it dissolves the original intent. By handing the award to the teleprompter progressive socialist, the Nobel now becomes worthless. It's a shame to see something so Nobel fall to the wayside.
Congratulations are in order for President Obama on his award of the Nobel Peace Prize! His great and monumental accomplishments in furthering world Peace has been recognised by the committee. He now joins the ranks of noted peace makers as Yasir Arafat.
Seriously! how can they rationalize this! The man was only in office for 11 days at the deadline for nominations. I propose we change the name to the Nobel Hope Prize.Just makes me wonder is he coherent enough to realize that he has done nothing to deserve this? The right thing to do would be to decline the award. I am betting the President is narcissistic enough to truly believe he deserves this honor.
Just tell us what he did that deserves this award. Is it that hard. He didn't make world peace. No peace in Israel. No peace in Tibet. No peace in the Sudan. Not even peace in the house. "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples," the Norwegian Nobel Committee said, citing his outreach to the Muslim world and attempts to curb nuclear proliferation.
What a joke.
blah blah blah bring race into it.
*** BREAKING NEWS *** BREAKING NEWS *** Obama just won American Idol for a song he might sing in the future.

I pray your statement at the end is not a inferring that O-dog is Christ if you are I hope your end of days places you in hell where you belong. There is no earthly man that can be compared to Christ, no man or woman and if you compare you are a blasphemer and are destined for a life of torment and hell.
Obama does not care about the American Service men or the American people. He is pushing as many spending bills through Congress to destroy America as fast as Possible. Healthcare now!!! Legalize Illegal Aliens Next!! To Hell with our Service men!!! This will turn even the most liberals stomach!!! This is from CNN

bob-479345,
Your post stating, “All those names say something about how Nobel Peace Prize winners are chosen,” is terribly misleading. You are either uninformed or you purposely posted in order to lead people to believe that Hitler, Stalin and Mussolini were Nobel Peace Prize winners. If the latter is true, shame on you.
Hitler, Stalin or Mussolini never won the Noble Peace Prize – period.
Hitler was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1939 on the basis of the peaceful resolution of the Sudetenland Crisis; but the nomination was rejected by the Nobel Prize Committee. He did not win.
Joseph Stalin, the Secretary General of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (1922-1953), was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1945 and 1948 for his efforts to end World War II. He did not win.
Professors at the Faculty of Law at Giessen University in Germany nominated Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini in 1935. He did not win.

I really don't feel sorry for the conservatives....they are the ones who must in the end wallo in their own hatred and racism. It's like walking in sewage, it takes alot of clean water and bleach to get rid of the smell and germs....as a liberal thinker I am at least walking up out of the sewage. Although peace is not easy to achieve, it is still much easier and less costly when you are on the side of peace. Take to heart these Bible verses.
Psalm 37:10 "And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more; And you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be. 11But the meek (righteous) ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace. 12The wicked one is plotting against the righteous one, And at him he is grinding his teeth. 13 Jehovah himself will laugh at him, For certainly sees that his day will come. 14 The wicked ones have drawn a sword itself and have bent their bow, To cause the afflicted and poor one to fall, To slaughter those who are upright in their way. 15 Their own sword will enter into their heart, And their own bows will be broken."
In God's eyes there are no political parties....only the righteous and the wicked. Whom do you chose to be? If we all would live according to Bible principles the country and the world would be a much, much better place to abide on. But we as imperfect humans cannot accomplish this....it will never happen. Only a small number of people will take this wisdom to heart. Also take note: Jeremiah 10:23 "I well know, O Jehovah, that to earthling man his way does not belong. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step."
These Bible verses were written hundreds of years ago and apply stronger today than they did when they were written. The rich wisdom in the Bible is so evident when it is actually studied in depth. Choose to be righteous and all things good will fall into place. Choose to be wicked and all bad things will create more problems....we all have minds and hearts to choose. Whom do you choose to be?
Yes, we all have minds and hearts to choose. Obama made his choice on Jan. 23, 2009.
Junk like this doesn't get restored.
RobK68, JMonarchy....You are a lemming....You'd follow Obama into a pool of sharks just because it wasn't Bush..... Totally an assumption on your part but not surprising since you are likely the root of that word.
Bush started one war...Iraq...For those of you who bit** about Afghanistan, it was a world united for that one and it was because the country HARBORED THE TERRORISTS WHO ATTACKED THE WORLD.... Somewhat in agreement here. Our mission was to hunt down AlQaida and kill them, not to shoot for a few weeks and divert all of our resources to Iraq. If you can't see the ignorance in that you should remain an E-1 because you have no leadership or problem solving abilities; just a big stupid mouth.
Those two are apples and oranges...But of course not for people like you because Bush was in power.... Your lack of problem solving skills arose again in this statement. What the hell are you talking about?
Thanks god you aren't a soldier..Because soldiers who think they have all the answers are usually the ones who don't make much of an impact....They sit around and do crap.... I'm a VET rogue roving ranter, and I promise I led as an NCO was expected to lead.
So looks like YOU are the ignorant ass JM..... I asked 4 direct questions and you answered not one. And you call me an ignorant ass? Look you uneducated embicel, answers to that question is paramount to making any military decision. What is our mission when we commit life treasure, equipment and money? What are we trying to accomplish, clearly and defined so that there is a goal and ending point of our efforts? Glad your ignorant ass isn't on the JCOS or at the DOD or Pentagon. Your ignorance would have us defeated in a year.
Sorry Tyler, but If this guy gets by with attacking me for asking questions, he deserves a smack back for ignorant rebuttal posts like he left.
I was a soldier once and young. I am no longer either. If bush and cronies had quit, after the utter defeat of the taliban in Afghanistan, we would have been ok. But, the he made the decision to listen to Dickie and friends. Wrong. Iraq was stupid, and now Afghanistan is no more than a waste of good men and money.
The integrity of the Nobel Peace Prize is in question. This appears to be an agenda subject to the the approving committee to promote a specific set of left leaning beliefs. Using a sports metaphor, it would be like giving Michael Crabtree MVP honors for signing a contract bringing hope to the SF 49ers Super Bowl 2011 participation.
And on what international authority do you speak?
In public opinion the integrity is definetely in question. It's a shame that decisions like this and the one honoring Al Gore for his global warming work (what the heck does that have to do with peace?) have diminished the award for previous recipients.
Westbury: regarding how climate change affects peace on this earth, remember that climate change and global warming will make resources scarce - and it's at time like that when wars begin over scarce resources. Put two and two together - try to make 4 out of it.
Keep reaching Cece. How about giving it to Tiger Woods because people watch golf...then they want to play...then they feel more relaxed....and everyone gets along better. Oh yeah, Tiger Woods should get the Nobel Peace prize.
"diminished the award for previous recipients" Perhaps in your view, but other recipients have weighed in positively (Gore, Carter at least). Is this the first time you've questioned "the integrity" of the Nobel Committee? Doesn't have anything to do with President Obama does it?
Are you in favor of a Republican Conservative nominee? Name one of these Christians that deserves a "peace prize". OK -- I guess that's unfair -- but it is a struggle.
no, in right-leaning Republican circles the integrity is in question.
For the other 95+% of the world's population, there is no question of the prizes validity.
(Note, i'm not saying Obama should have won it, i think it's a little premature to give him the prize. However, imo this is a slap at GWB more than a feather in the cap of Obama. Obama only got it because he was Bush's replacement and therefore, by definition, one of the more peaceful persons in the world....)
Drowning,
If you "don't think Obama should have won it" how can you argue with my comment that in public opinion the integrity is in question.
Walks,
No, I also questioned it when Gore won. I never liked Carter but at least there were legitimate reasons and a body of work Obama and Gore were ridiculous awards based on politics. If you can't see that...it's not worth debating someone who doesn't want to admit it.
It's only in question in the narrow, warped minds of the GOP. The repubs continue to show the world why they were voted out of office.
Don't worry Chris, the Dems won't be in power long. The past 30 years shows that once they start enacting their ideology, the country immediately turns on them.
walks-upright
Maybe Gore and Carter weighed in because they think it legitimizes their getting the award, but then, by his own admission Gore created the internet. We couldn't be discussing this had it not been for him.
J1ggy--
What are your credentials; what accomplishments have you performed that are of note-worthiness, besides eating and going to the toilet?
I don't see your name on anything of note. Maybe Obama got it because he did something for humanity--oh, but ego's don't recognize any accomplishments execpt that which they see in the mirror--nobody....
He's not required to have international authority to speak, thanks for asking.
The Peace Prize is supposed to be given out for results, not for constant talking and never achieving. Like the article said, he got it for not being Bush. He hasn't made any contributions apart from sucking up to everyone he encountered. Gore got it for making a movie that had nothing to do with global peace, now Obama gets it for talking like an EU puppet.
The integrity of the Nobel Peace Prize is in the eyes of the beholder, and only those blinded by Obama's celebrity status can't see that the award is essentially worthless now.
All the BHO supporters must be back from Cobo Arena getting their Obomber Bucks, BHO's model citizens, needy and dems.
And when did the Nobel Peace Prize have any integrity? Remember, Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini and Arafat were award winners. I guess the idea that the Nobel committee awards the prize to idealistic people wanting to make the world better rings true with these 4 gentlemen.
I can't for the life of me imagine how a right leaning committee would be associated with peace. There's no way. Every person from the right I've come to encounter has been a war monger. So I don't get why right right is trying to dismiss the committee as being leftist. What peace are you for?
I know that some of the right wing nuts were probably foaming at the mouth this morning...some probably had heart attacks. Why? Because they are filled with hatred for Obama, and they don't want anything good to happen to him or for him to do any good. They just want to "stick it to him".
I'm glad the the Nobel committee, representing a lot of the world(coming from someone who is from somewhere else in the world, and who knows lots of people in other parts of the world), just gave you guys a nice, fat, plump middle finger, and I'm doing the same.
This reminds me of the time that Al Gore took a $400,000.00 campaign contribution from an Active Duty General of the Chinese Army, during the Bill Clinton Impeachment trial, and then some American Defenseive Missile secrets were given to China. What is next? Selling the Cruise Missile to Iran. I know for a fact that I will not be buying any kind of Hummer..ever.! This also set a world record for the most people laughing at the same time. ( It's official now, the Nobel Peace Prize don't mean anything). This is a slap in the face to those who did actually work for it.!!
Although I agree that the award is premature and should have been based more on his actions, I do not think it was misdirected. Peace, equality, and social justice are the "left-leaning beliefs" that the Nobel committee considers important. Look at the quote from Gresham Barrett, which implies that dialog with other countries and nonproliferation are bad things. I think he and Steele are either fuzzy on the definition of "Peace" or they just don't want peace.
Rightman
They sold the "hummer" to China!!
The most important thing that Obama has accomplished in short term so far is to bring back "WORLD WIDE RESPECT" to the US and reason to believe that the days of the rich right wing, who have been nothing short of prostitutes to the Lobbyist, Health Industry and corupt corporations would one day be FLUSHED out, like so many turds, in time!! He inherited a good ol boys economy that threw practically the entire world into bankruptcy....except for those elected officials, lobbyist and corporations that robbed our country blind! Both wars were mis-managed - one we never should have CREATED in Iraq! They realized that President Obama walked into office facing more than 8 years of greed, corruption and disregard for any other nations.
Such a shame that practically the entire world is showing more respect for our President than all too many US citizens are! Thanks to Steele and his right wing "nuts" who have spread lies and terror to citizens and blantantly admit that they are the party of "NO" - some citizens have cheered and applauded when OUR COUNTRY did not get the bid for the Olympics! ANYTHING to make Obama fail at all costs! It is obvious they have no pride in themselves or our country - but how can they be so ignorant not to realize that if our President fails OUR COUNTRY FAILS! Who do they think is going to govern, protect and support them when our economy crashes, our troops are over powered and our alies walk away from us in disgust??! Do they think the supper wealthy 1% of this country are going to give up their wealth to help our country?!?
Shame, shame on those who do not stand up with pride at the honor that our President has been given and respect HE has gained for our country worldwide!
The Republican Party of NO and the Blue Dog Democrats are going to end up kicked out on the street, lose their jobs, health care, bribe money and have to resort to having to EARN a living, like the rest of us, in a country that they worked so hard and stupidly to destroy!!
Keep it up boys and girls - your making Obama and those that DO support him look like Saints in the light of your greed, racism, bigotry, hatred and absolute blind IGNORANCE!!
So much for American Pride and our status as being the BEST and most powerful country in the world! WAY TO GO!!
The man single-handedly negotiated an ending to our occupation in Iraq and a withdrawal plan, while an entire administration continuously failed at it.
Is resolving a war not enough for you?
Maybe it's a number of things, like lessening the nuclear arsenal of both Russia and the US, or maybe the hope of relations with Cuba, or maybe the taking of steps to talk to Iran, there are so many things that Obama has done that would have qualified him, but one thing for sure all the people that have these negative comments have not accomplished a single thing worthy of any kind of notice, they need to stop crying and make a contribution to our Great Nation, instead of trying to under-mind someone who has ....
Again ,obama inherited the end of Iraq from Bush,it was already in the works, as for the "lessening" of nuclear arms maybe Obama has had some of ours destroyed, wanna bet on Russia's?Too many maybes in your statement to get that tingly feeling for me.
If,IF,after two or three years the world shows signs of improving, consider obama for a prize. But 12 days in office? Sorry, any respect for the Nobel Prize Committee I might have had is gone.
July 19, 2008 - Obama meets with Maliki in Iraq and they agree on a withdrawal.
Later that day July 19, 2008 - Bush suddenly decides that a "time horizon" for a withdrawal is a good idea, and then calls Maliki on the phone to discuss it.
Sounds like your in denial enzelow76.
dsvet
you are delusional. but you are the epitome of an obot. misguided and misinformed
If you consider the facts to be delusional then that would explain your position.
Feel free to present the opposing evidence to the facts I posted.
"I did not realize the Nobel Peace Prize had an affirmative action quota for it, but that is the only thing I can think of for this news," Erickson wrote. "There is no way Barack Obama earned it in the nominations period."
Glad somebody had enough spine to state the obvious. As America becomes less effective and less powerful which obama is quickly accomplishing, world conflicts and violence will only increase, history will look back at this as the event that turned the Nobel prize into the Tony award of international awards.

So where were your psychic powers 8-years ago when we needed them?
Hey Vet...Ever think that maybe Obama knew of Bush's intentions and HE was the one who went to Maliki before??
Of course not...Obama is righteous and honest and would never do something like that....
Lemming.....
Hey Rob..Ever think of looking at the actual events that transpired, the number of failed proposals that Bush made, and his refusal to create a withdrawal timetable? It completely contradicts that rediculous notion.
Your hypothetical jargon is getting pretty desperate. It amazes me when people ignore the facts in order to suit their agenda.
I can't believe how negative you @#%%$& republicans are. I voted for republicans before but you guys bring nothing to the table but negative statements on everything. Don't you hate to get up in the morning. Our president wins a Nobel peace prize and that's your response. I bet you don't get 10 % of the vote if you don't change your ways!
bob parker-1381501
I am not republican and I didn't vote for Bush, so if you can't see how this was purely a political ploy that damages the REAL meaning of the Nobel prize then you are just as caught up in your own party as the far right wingers.
Hey Bob, calm down now its just a topic that looks a little strange if think about it. Check out some of the other winners and you might undertand it.
It's really sad to see how bitter and negative the Republican party has now become. Bitterness and divisiveness are NOT the American way.
I feel sorry for the Grand Old Party these days......it's not even CLOSE to being grand, just the opposite.
This is an idictment of Bush's failed polices aboard more than an approval of Omaba's good work. It shows the world just how far we sunk when they give a prize for ideals yet to be accomplished.
bob President Obama got this b3ecause he did more in two weeks to bring peace to the world that the republicons have done in the last 30 years.the republicon response to any problem in the world was shaock and awe. I was shoced that the were so stupid to use violence and awed that the least most intelligent leader(george bush) could foll so many people in the United States. Obama has done more in 1 day then bush did in 8 years. so was it political , no it was based on what he(Obama) has done and what will be accompished in the 2 terms he (Obama) has
Would you Libs be celebrating if George Bush got the award??? After all, it is an American President. Somehow I doubt it so stop your whining you bunch of hypocrites. Great at dishing it out (because you get plenty of practice being out of power) but you can't take it.
Here, here Bob. I agree. The GOP has done nothing but make snide and negative remarks about our President's work. They have contributed nothing of value to our country since Obama took office. Don't they appreciate and love the USA? For whatever reason, we Americans should all be proud that one of our own won this very illustrious prize and that the world, as a whole, is looking at us in a whole new light. Congratulations Mr. President!
Westbury: once again, you just don't get it. You say if Dubya won the award we'd be screaming. Get real. A peace prize to a man who started an unnecessary war that's destabilized the mid-east and caused hundreds of thousands of deaths? Why on earth do you think he'd ever be nominated? If he won a peace prize, we wouldn't have been screaming, we'd be speechless. Wake up, buddy!
Why would you be speechless??? All the Obama supporters are saying we should be proud that an American President got the award regardless of whether we agree or not. However, you immediately justify why you would not be happy for George Bush. The hypocrisy of the left is maddening. Do they do it on purpose or are they that ignorant???
Bingo. By definition, Bush's follower is necessarily a peaceful person, as it would be hard to be more war-mongering and anti-peace than Bush/Cheney was.
Obama probably doesn't deserve this award yet in life, however I will accept the committees judgment as they are sending a message to the rest of the world that "the world hated Bush, thank you for getting rid of him."
Westbury, they are that ignorant.
I am a conservative. I voted for President George W. Bush in both elections and was happy to see him win both times. However, this latest outburst from Steele seems nonsensical at best, angry and divisive at worst. The republicans are losing ground, but the democrats aren't gaining. More of the true conservatives are becoming independents and that is pretty much where I am now. The democratic party has destroyed my home town (Philadelphia), they've been running the show for 60 odd years and each year crime goes up, more taxpayers move out, taxes go up, services get cut and the death of Philadelphia will soon be evident to all. I will never vote for a democrat. They don't understand what it means to keep a budget (I know, I know, President George W. Bush spent like a drunken sailor, but President Obama spent more in four months then President Bush spent in 8 years). When your source of revenue is limited, you should not let your spending exceed your revenue. Democrats are infamous for overspending then enacting new taxes to try to repay the debt they created. The democrats did this for the past sixty years in Philadelphia. Every time they raised taxes, more people and businesses moved outside of the city, so the city lost more revenue by raising taxes then it ended up collecting to pay down their overspending. Seems like the democrats on the national stage will soon have no choice but to raise taxes again, especially with the prospects of a second stimulus package in the works. Alas, I am way off of topic. So back to topic.
Congratulations President Obama on your Nobel Peace Prize. Since I am not on the committee, I don't know what the requirements/criteria are, so I am not going to criticize his win. Now if the republicans would stop wasting tax payer dollars on bashing the President and begin working towards creating some meaningful legislation and creating jobs which the democrats have failed to do (sorry, temporary jobs don't count, because when they go away, so does any economic gain we received with the creation of the jobs), maybe they can win back some of their former constituents.
Obama had nothing to do with Bush leaving office. The 22nd Amendment handled that.
However, you are right about the reasons the committee gave Obama the award: not for anything he did (and the award should be given for deeds, remember), but for not being Bush.
It's interesting to see the left's reaction to the right. Sour grapes you say? ROFL! Not in the least. At this point in time, for Obama to receive the award, tells me that the award is meaningless. I remember a time while growing up, the Nobel had true meaning. It went to true men of peace, not some political socialist ideologue.
Giving the award to Obama doesn't suprise me though. It actually makes me laugh because Obama didn't do anything to deserve it other than reading speeches from a teleprompter. I know this inflames the liberals because they actually believe Obama has done something... but with one caviot - they can't define what it is. ROFL!
Tyler - please restore thread 1. I can't believe someone is that thin skinned.
I love all the dem/lib statements, out both sides of the mouth as usual.
"I can't believe how negative you BLEEP BLEEP repugs are..." Pot, meet kettle. It's all you guys did for 8 years.
Obama didn't deserve this, period. He may at the end of it all, but not two weeks or two months (whatever it was) into his term. The award is like a Grammy award, a joke. Get over it.
President Carter got his after he was out of office. Carter was not president when he got his.
Rightman
Carter was not a "sitting President" when he got his award. He is now and always will be an American President. Only two other sitting presidents ever received this award and that was lo-o-o-o-o-o-ng ago.
Westbury
Bush didn't do anything even HONORABLE during his term and insulted and abused most of the rest of the world! The only award he is or was ever worthy of is the fact that "he officially goes into the history books as the least effective, worst US President of ALL TIME!!"
Mr. Rogers.
You're a joke, you need to look past your closed mind, there are so many things that Obama has done that would have won him the Prize but people like you go around with blinders on no wonder you're named after a horse ...

But until then you sound ignorant...
No suprises here...One part of me is happy for the President...another part of me says this is going to make his job as POTUS even tougher then it already is...and another part of me says is all of this crap for real? I mean how do you fool a committee that can afford to award such an important World title and not be sure of his intentions...Yet I read that so many believes it is all political...Man oh Man I hope President Obama is for real...Our World needs a break..most especially my beloved United States of America.
That's part of the point the Nobel committee is doing: Giving President Obama the Prize TO get him to do his job on the international stage, i.e. get Iran to give up nukes, Israel and the Palestinians to get peace, etc. The other part he's either already doing or has done: Have a 180º turn from President Bush on said international policy.
Of course! The worldwide evil socialist plot! How silly of me.
Foreign policy has not changed one iota since Obama has been in office. It's onward through the fog. More troops. More killing. Expand the war here and there. Bear in mind, he was nominated for this prize within his first twelve days in office, during which time he promptly continued Bush II's foreign policy. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article5575883.ece
The real question most Americans are asking is are you gay & in love with Barak, cause you just don't seem to get it. Most Americans are wondering why You alow yourself to be a token for old white men's party of no. I don't think you have the right to assume most Americans think like you. We seem to enjoy being our own person, not beholden to people who don't even like you. What does that say about you Steele?
I guess you don't have to "do anything" to get the Nobel Peace prize, all you have to do is talk about it.
Won't they be ****ing disappointed when Obama sends more troops to Afghanistan or leaves Gitmo open for another 4 years.
Not being a warmonger, liar, idiot, and an incompetent surely helps your case though
A fool could almost be forgiven. Obama is continuing every Bush policy. so when exactly does the brain power come into play?
He never talked about the nobel prize. Where have you been. He didn't even know he had been nominated. I guess we know you will never qualify for anything.
Velma Adams
Exactly, that's why they are all here crying, these people can't accomplish anything but to whine, I've learned to hate Republicans because of their constant whining, thats all they are any good for, that's why they can't make a difference they waste all their time crying about someone else ......
Actually, Richie, I'm laughing. The jokes on those who actually thought the Nobel Peace prize meant anything. BTW, I'm not a republican. I wish people would stop making asinine assumptions about anyone who disagrees with them.
And you waste all your time crying about them? AND, BTW, you're whining about whining.
President Obama is pulling this country up by its boots a little at a time. He has a lot to do. I guess the republicans would agree that Bush left this economy and world in fantastic condition. They will never admitt to anything. Always finding fault except in what they do.
cath8385
Wake up, he has put the country more in debt in his first year then Bush in 4. Plus he is just getting started. Now I am no Republican and I never voted for Bush, but please don't pretend Obama is saving America. I doubt there are any politicians left who can.
Bush and the Democratic congress for the 2 previous years and politicians going back to Clinton are the reason for our current troubles. Congress did there job and all legislatures prior to current administration sold America out. We need new people in Congress or a strong third party to reclaim the integrity of the U.S. Congress and Presidency.
I beg to differ on your OPINION. regan was the one that started us down this slippery slope. regan was the one that got rid of regulation thatcreated the banking mess in america. regan was the one that started to bust unions and to get rid of anyone that was helping the little guy, regan was the one that created, funded, armed, and let loose al qudia to go after the soviets and once they finished he poked al qudia in the eye. it was the republicon congress that told bill clinton that if he passed legistation on NAFTA they would help him get relected. every peoblem we have in America right now can be traced back to the republicons and to the father of al qudia so shut the hell up. go stand in the corner and let the adults fix the mess you republicons have made in the USA and the world.
Actually, Bush approved TARP in November 2008, not Obama, though Obama supported the plan and added additional funds in 2009. In addition, one can't compare spending without taking into account the circumstances. The experts agree that, as hard as it was to create so much debt, it almost certainly prevented a full-blown depression. Scary, yes. But essential. I hope people remember how much worse things were just one year ago.
Funny how the teabaggers are saying he hasn't been in office long enough to win the Nobel Peace Prize, yet they insist he should have fixed the economy by now.
Let's be honest.
BOTH parties are to blame 100%. They are BOTH bought off by special interest, they BOTH are seedy and corrupt.
It's time to send incumbents packing.
@ mr rogers....you lie.... you might not be a republican and you are sure not a democrat...just a right wing nut.
@ j1ggy....seems to me cheney/bush first 6 years they had the US House and the US Senate and did nothing but give tax cuts to the rich and start 2 wars that have lasted longer than WW2...In 2006 and 2008 we got new people in the US House, US Senate and a new President...How about giving them a chance, people like you gave cheney/bush 8 years and probably voted for McBush and the pretty nut.
umm, not even close to true. Laughably incorrect....
(Bush added in excess of $5T to the national debt, and Obama is no where even close to that # yet. He will undoubtedly add more than $5T to the national debt over 8 years if he gets that long; of course the nearly $2T from this year alone while the world struggled to stave off the 2nd great depression brought about by 8 years of Bush's rule has nothing to do with it...)
The repubs refuse to remember that part of the tale.
Maybe so, but I think many Americans are waking up to BOTH parties fault in the tale...
After all, dems in congress gave Bush 85% of everything he ever asked for. They voted for the war, the voted for the Patriot Act, they voted for TARP, they voted for and supported ANTI-Consumer bankruptcy legislation.
Both parties are nothing but greedy corporate sponsors out for power and control.
Bush didn't add all 5T in 4 years.... Either way, I never voted for Bush and thought most of what he did was outrageous. I guess that means Obama gets a free pass because the president before him sucked.... right?
5T here, 2T here... all the while the national debt exceed $55 Trillion...
The only way to solve this problem is to either tax American's to death or reduce government to the roles and duties the Constitution says it is supposed to be doing...
Right because it's one or the other right? No thanks, Id rather not be a tool for the rich elite who run this nation from both parties...
..."either tax American's to death or reduce government to the roles and duties the Constitution says it is supposed to be doing...". Let's face it, America is not ready for that. Until all the entitlement programs are dismantled, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, ADC - the taxpayer will just keep payin'. If you can figure out a way to get out of those obligations, entirely - please advise!
At least McCain and Pawlenty were gracious enough in their comments. Pawlenty will likely try to run in 2012, so he'd best stay above the fray. It is doubtful that this former Repub (30+ years) will vote Republican any time soon, most are still right wing sycophants.

Worst President and administration in United States History in my opinion. I don't think any prize money for that honor....? Costs to the American taxpayers for the next 5 or more years though.
Of course the Republicans are scoffing at this. They scoff at everything even if they did the same thing last year... scoffing, mocking and whining is the sum total of their strategy.
Well wouldn't you scoff if an illiterate man won a Pulizter prize for Journalism?
dewintre 200: I scoff at you. Do you know the qualifications for Nobel nomination? This is a challenge. Tell me why Obama doesn't qualify. Here's a start: you don't have to be a president to win the award. Sheesh !!!!!
Scoff all you want. I'm not here for the popularity contest.
Seems they extended the prize on credit, hoping to set his direction.
Who are you to argue with Obama if he said it wasn't about his achievements?
no but being first black pres. doesn't hurt. or enlighten me what has he done, not talks about doing that entitles him this award
dewintre200 shows President Obama said:
"Let me be clear: I do not view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments, but rather as an affirmation of American leadership on behalf of aspirations held by people in all nations."
Who are you to argue with Obama if he said it wasn't about his achievements?
---------------------------
So, dewintre200, you're NOW agreeing with President Obama after dissing his win and policies of doing nothing? Dude, you are SERIOUSLY bipolar in your assessment on this topic. Perhaps you need to go to a shrink before you lose it entirely so he can prescribe a medication for you.
Dewintre200,
You are dumb as a rock. You cut and paste President Obama's quote into your comment box, and then you twist your own point around it until it makes no sense.
You are so dumb---I bet you voted for Bush

President Obama 'orders Pakistan drone attacks'
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article5575883.ece
SAGGG
So, Saggg, are you disagreeing with Obama, after agreeing with him on, perchance, most things?
Oh, "riverstomp", are you trying to be cute in turning my words against me like I did dewintre200? That's so precious. Once again, don't ask ME why he won. Ask the committee. In my opinion, he won because he's not your hero George Bush. What a bunch of hypocrites to the nth degree...
SAGGG, first, I didn't vote for Bush, nor did I support his policies. Second, I don't consider you well written or clever enough to imitate. Yes, Republicans are hypocrites. And so are Democrats.
"riverstomp", your denial of supporting neither party is typical. All too often I've read on these boards about posters who deny they're for either party, yet light into President Obama while blissfully ignoring Bush's faults. Tell me why you didn't support Bush's policies, and be vehement about it, not leaving anything out.
As for that post about ordering drone attacks, that was way back right after Obama became President. It has no relevance concerning the Nobel Peace Prize. You seem to think that "peace" means to merely do nothing while our enemies do anything. Having peace means that one must keep the peace with our allies, even through force. That's what our military is for.
The only thing typical is your response: ad hominem. Same as your initial response.
Anyone with their eyes open knows there is not one bit of difference between Bush's foreign policy and that of Obama's. We're not talking about schmoozing around the world. Obama continued, and continues, the previous administration's foreign policy. To attempt to justify anything Bush or Obama has done is practicing hero worship.
The drone attacks are acts of war, so they have every relevance to a peace prize. Your assumption that through force--war--peace is achieved is incorrect. You would then say, war is peace; ignorance is knowledge. The history of the past 100 years alone stands against you.
In the end, it doesn't matter anyway, since the Empire is coming to an end. Its days are numbered. Whether you wish to admit it or not, you are in a minority.
A minority of what? The sane people, riverstomp? If that's the case, I'm proud to be part of THAT minority. And you've GOT to be kidding about President Obama and Bush's policies not being different. Why do you think Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize and Bush didn't? Don't you see if they were the same, then either Bush would've gotten one, or Obama wouldn't have gotten his? Besides, President Obama's not going to get clean out of Afghanistan like you seem to think he should do to have justified getting the Peace Prize. That doesn't make any sense. You're delusional to the nth degree, dude. And you still haven't blasted Bush's policies like you have Obama's.
I didn't, and don't, intend to fulfill your earlier request (or was it a demand?) that I rant about Bush to convince you of my sincerity. I suspect you ask for a dramatic performance due to the minority you appear to be a member of, the political-party-cheerleaders, where Americans must be either-or. Most Americans don't vote, let alone participate in politics.
Also, the drone attacks I cited above are against Pakistan, a country armed with nuclear weapons, not Afghanistan; you are assuming what I believe in regards to Afghanistan and Obama's Nobel win. As explained by the Nobel committee, the prize was awarded as an incentive; they gave it to him not for what he did, but for what they hope he will do. To quote myself, in order to make it clear that this is not a popularity contest, that this is not about the dog and pony show on the world stage, but about actual policy, "Obama continued, and continues, the previous administration's foreign policy."
If you think our foreign policy has changed, can you tell me what changes were made and when? Are you saying Obama is dropping more bombs? ...Except, that's not different; that's more of the same; just as Bagram Airfield is more of the same; just as sending troops overseas is more of the same; just as military spending is more of the same. Set the personal attacks to the side and get on with listing the official changes accomplished by the candidate of Change.
There you go again Mike, showing your republican knee-jerk reaction to anything Obama. He says black, you say white, he says the sun is shining, you say it's the moon. I hope that independents and intelligent republicans see this trend within their party.
Besides, we all know that Steele is jealous of Obama-Obama being the first Afro-Euro president where Steele is the mouth piece for a fading party, Obama having a brain, where Steele has none.
Michael Steele is pathetic!
101% right on!
these GOP losers are guilty of treason because they woul like Obama to fail even if the USA goes down the tube!
Too late, this country has already gone down the tubes.
@ forrestsa ...if it has its because of 8 years of cheney/bush.
Wrong! We want the country to succeed but don't agree with Obama grossly overspending on the budget. We don't feel that trillions of dollars of debt is the proper path to success. We would like to see Medicare fixed before implementing a national healthcare plan. That's all. If Obama implements policies to start fixing these things, we'll be on board.
We're in an economic mess right now and fixing it should be the #1 priority of this administration. The great recession is not Obama's fault or Bush's fault. Some economist's bad assumption that real estate value would only rise and never fall is what got us here. Increased deficit spending is not doing anything to resolve the situation. As Bill Clinton once said, "It's the economy, stupid!" Creating an environment that grows domestic jobs would serve this president well.
No, actually I think it is because of years of liberal pussies ideas and dumbing DOWN of American education, ya know, teaching to the lowest common denominator.
after 8 years of bush and 6 years of the republicons no wonder the WORLD is in bad shape. .bush was just hoping that his house of cards would not collaspe till he got out of office and it almost worked but it started to fall a little to early and the people of the USA saw that is was bush and co that screwed it all up lol no matter how many times you lie and bs it is still lies and bs and that is all bush and co was.lies and bs.
forresta it has been the republicons have been dumbing down america. 16 people in texas get to chose what goes in the text books and now they want to replace George Washington with newt gingrich and want all text books to reflect right wing thinking a.. they are even trying to change the bible to right wing thinking. it is your party that has been dumbing down America since the father of al qudia started the dumbing down of america and that is ronald regan. the father of the al qidai.
Bush starts a program - "No child left behind" - then forgets to fund it. He spent the money on - here it comes - IRAQ. Afganistan is no longer win-able because we went in there 8 years ago and did nothing to improve anything in their lives except to kill them. Now they want us to leave because we have done nothing except KILL them and left them hanging in the wind while we ran off to IRAQ for illusional WMD's.
No health care reform, all children left behind, economy in the tank. But hey the rich got richer and we got poorer. That's what the republicans can celebrate.
Sanford went to court to not have to take stimulus money FOR EDUCATION. Same with Jinglebells and Gov. (seceder) Perry. Check out how SC and Louisiana rate in education - Not so Good.
Riiiigggghhhht - the Democrats are trying to dumb down America. Grow-up Republicans - and get a freaking life. You all look stupid to the rest of America and the world with your cheering against the USA getting the Olympics and your sneering about our President receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. Wow you all have sunk to a new low and I didn't think that was possible
Michael Steele - yea - Uncle Tom is more like it - just like Sarah Palin - token idiots for the GOP. You would think the GOP would find someone with more of an IQ then a shoe size. Guess not.

All of a sudden repubs are fiscally responsible--give me a break!!! Where were repubs while Bush & Co. (the repub controlled congress) were spending us into oblivion--Iraq war, or when he cut taxes on those that needed the tax relief the least during this trillion-dollar fiasco? Bush signed just about every spending bill pased up to him by that congress so let's get real. At least Obama wants to keep it here, helping FELLOW AMERICANS of all stripes.
The repubs are acting like petulant little children who cannot admit when they are wrong, so they do a 180 on ANYTHING coming from the democrats. Grow up!
Amen to that. Steele is pathetic, the only thing is he's the only one who doesn't get it!!!!!
Hey Landon,
If Obomber wins the country goes down the crapper. How many more manufacturing jobs you want to send over seas, crap and tax is going to seal the deal, oh wait, maybe we should have a VAT added. NAFTA was a brilliant idea, thanks Bill for signing that one. I know we can make windmills.
Robert-348998

So let me get this straight. You're saying that since Bush spent a lot that it's ok for Obama to spend a lot more? With that mentality, we are doomed.
OH HOW I LOVE
to hear thoses GOP losers whine!
GOP is now headed by Rush Limbaugh is it not???
racists, ignorant KKKers, kickers with no education
mean spirited, hateful, white supremicists, ex cons,
who would re-enact slavery if they could.
Letterman: "The GOP will make a comeback about the time Madoff is out of prison"
Obama kicked your tail! Whine some more!
damn, give it a rest already...you think you are helping the President by these kind of statements? They only degrade what he is trying to do..go troll somewhere else...
Oh how I love to hear the Democratic Losers bait, crow and whine too.
The Democratic Party is headed by Pelosi who openly stated that she was more interested in getting her party elected than paying close attention to intelligence report on keeping our country safe, a woman who would rather place party politics than work across the aisle for solutions, a woman who states openly that a portion of America be dienfranchised and should shut up because the democrats won.
The only racists I see are the democrats who have dropped the race card more than anyone around. It black this and black that and when Steele speaks out then he an, "Unlce TOM" a very racist statement if I have ever heard one. And the only party in the govt that has a KKK member ini it is the Democrats with a senator the still holds his KKK membership so KKK definately democrat. As for ex-cons I say prove it I am sure that you might find it about even between republicans and dems.
And who could be more mean spirited than the democrats who have accused President Bush of wanting to kill people on top of calling him for war crimes and then applauding when an Iraqi reported who is free because of President Bush and the Iraq war attempts to assault him.
And then you go and quote Letterman who went tramping through his staff about morals and comebacks. The funny thing is that you think that obama deserves this peace prize while the activist for Chinese freedom rots in jail after years of struggle. A president who has demeaned America, abandoned our allies and sides with Dictators and wanna be dictators when they try to abbrogate their own democratic Constitution.
You derided President Bush for the Patriot Act but say nothing about when obama expanded that same act to give it more powers and you cheer him on now as he pushes for an act the removes the Constitutional Right of Freedom of Choice and then institutes fines that are against the Constitution in the form of taxiation without representation and unfair taxes and levies.
So bash away but at least when President Bush said he was going to do something he did.
sure I am a republican and I am bitter and whiney and obama is the best the world has ever seen...but even if he is not it doesn't matter because President Bush was the worst, and I am just a hater and a whitey and a sore looser. I don't care about this country because I don't know why...someone tell me. OH I know because I criticize the president...oh yeah that has never happened before. We should all just love him because he is black and he came from Chicago and somewhere there he was a community organizer and did something good but no one can tell us what it was, and he is qualified to run the country because he was a senator for almost 2 years before he began campaigning and it don't matter that he never voted on anything..but that is because he had a vision and a plan and one day he will tell us. But for now it is ok that he just talks and talks and does nothing. You know because the country was in such a bad state before he needs more time. But if he doesn't do anything or fails at what he promised to get elected you can't blame him because he is black and you should never talk bad about someone who is black that just makes you a racist, and kkk. But it is ok to hate President Bush you know he ruined the world and made people hate the USA and call us names. We were sad and unhappy until we elected a change and now we are all better because he went overseas and apologized and said we wanted to talk(about what he doesn't know) and he wants to do something but he can't tell you yet. So the world waits....
Is it 2012 yet?????
Michael Steele's assessment could be right, but he appears to be a rather nasty man. This is why I can't return to voting Republican. The party is filled with hate and bile that's often openly expressed when courteous innuendo would get the message across without looking petty and vindictive. But then maybe that's who's running the GOP - angry, nasty people whose voices wouldn't be heard if it weren't for FOX News.
I think we Dem's need to time out a little on this one. Howie61@ #22 below and mentoring-1 should be applauded and welcomed for their balanced comments on this reprehensible behavior by the GOP (Steele FOX et al). While I do not agree that Michael Steele's assessment is remotely correct, I do agree with the rest of what Mentoring-1 and Howie61 said. Here is my take on this.
CONGRATULATION'S President Obama!
It feels great for the world to acknowledge HOPE & Intelligence springing forth from America again after 28 years of "Hate & divide" politics. I also think we tend to miss the much bigger Nobel Peace picture when we shout over each other all the time (I know I'm guilty of this sometimes too). The reality is the lunatics in American society live at the edge of both parties in our Bi-Polar system. The center is mostly independent or slightly partisan players who can vote either way. Many Democrats voted for Reagan. And many Republicans voted for Obama. It's the hateful, extreme edges that keep us divided and stoked up in anger. Right now the GOP right is the bad vile boy cast into the woodshed by the public. But give us Dem's enough unchecked power and unwarranted license as we gave Bush & Cheney and we could easily go there too.
President Obama is remarkable in his ability to exercise the vast power of the USA wisely and for peaceful purposes. That is why he is greatly respected around the world (even at this early stage of his administration). The world is saying "okay America; Welcome back!" And it is also why the far-far-right fears him Obama so much. Michael Steele is a weak minded appeaser, who is just pandering to the worst forces in his Party, while he collects a check (because he can't get elected to dogcatcher). The Republican Party is timidly and cynically fronting him while it lets the dogs of hatred and far right extremism gallop in a weak attempt to maintain a base that it should jettison ASAP. After more humiliation at the polls in 2010 (surprise!) and a drubbing in 2012, the GOP will get serious about purging itself from the extreme right haters and kooks. It will flush itself of boobs like Limbaugh, Bachman, Beck, O'Reilly, Hannity and Steele and start attracting a new generation of middle American leaders for itself.
I just know this. The entire country rallied around President Bush after 9/11. Yet, the GOP leadership routinely mocks achievements like this and attacks President Obama politically even on foreign soil. I know i'm furious about their conduct. And I would have been furious with Democratic conduct if we had treated Bush this way after 9/11. So it's good for me to see Republicans like Mentoring-1 and Howie61 step up and call bad GOP behavior on this award Bullsh!t for what it is. The road back for Republicans starts with guys like them.
Well said. Congratulation's Mr. President
We all know that Bush was in line for a.... Oh no, wait, that was WAR CRIMINAL status!
Roght on!
I notice that the comments against the Republicans outweigh the bloggers reasons for Obama getting the prize. Face it, not being Bush will eventually fade and he will actually have to achieve something. The socialist Swedes and Norwegians sure voted for one of their own. Kind of lessens this prize after only needing 12 days in to place him on the ballot. I bet they are glad he had more speeches they could use as reasons since that Feb. day.
There is another thread on this topic that has over 50 pages of Right wing nastiness.
Hey, it's no problem to disagree with OUR President - but the hatred and ignorance is mind-boggling.
I know, Andi, ain't it ridiculous? But it's alright, let them squirm and whine.
They live in yesterday while we live for tomorrow.
Boo hoo hoo!!!!!
nobody is running the GOP!
I need some laughs...how about...ready for this?
Rush-Palin 2012
Letterman, Leno, Conan will have a field day as they did with Lewinsky
Al Gore got a nobel so why not someone that's done nothing. OH that's right, he made sure whitey the banker gor his money. A nobel for 2 weeks in office? He's definitely the second coming!
Proamerica: you don't have to be a President to win. Get off that tired excuse of a rant about "time in office", which is totally irrelevant. In my opionion, his campaign rhetoric qualified him by energizing this country and the world with hope for peace and change.
No, but you have to achieve something.
Just like Arafat's rhetoric did for his prize, right? So you're saying the peace prize can be earned just for talking about nice things? Where's mine? I said nice things about Europe once. I even said it would be great if Israel and the Arab nations could settle their differences without killing each other. That qualifies me, right?
He won this major award because he is making some very dangerous compromises to a very dangerous enemy.
Chuckster: what, as opposed to the pissing contest Bush was running with the enemy? Nobody won that one - everybody got wet shoes.
You mean that dangerous compromise of increasing Predator numbers in battle zones and increasing the number of Predator operations or maybe knocking off terrorists like ducks in a shooting gallery???
Cece
Yea we all got our shoes pissed on from Bush/Cheney - but at least we didn't get Shoes thrown at us.
Oh Wait - there you go Republicans - there is your tribute to the world - "W" getting shoes thrown at him.
What a difference an elections makes - from shoes thrown at us to the Nobel Peace Prize - Congratulations President Obama and Congratulations to Americans who voted for OUR President.
That's sure to piss them off.
and had President Bush not done what he did that reporter that threw shoes at a foreign head of state would have been executed on the spot by Sadaam Hussein. Why dont you ask the 300,000 northern kurds, thousands of dead Kuwaities and the dead political opponents of Sadaam what they think of President Bush, wait you cant because they were killed by Sadaam before we got there.
One thing you have to say President Bush actually did something to get shoes thrown at him while obama only read his speechwriters speeches to get a nobel prize. I fell for the others who actually worked , suffered and earned their nobel prizes.
Not surprising comments by Steele, who can't even get an award from his own party. What a friggin' idiot!
Gramps - Steele got an award (for being a complete dufous)- the heads of the GOP just took him out back to the woodshed and presented him with a BIG STFU AWARD - just last month when Steele was trying to make policy. What a maroooonn - As my favorite cartoon character would say - Thhhaaatttt's all Folks.
Next year the nobels will be in Cracker Jacks boxes.
Surely you can do come up with a better metaphor than that.
that is the only way any republicon will every get the nobel peace prize. find it in a cracker jacks box lol
Typical. No class! He couldn't just say "congratulations" and move on with his own work. Perhaps Mr. Obama won this prize because looking around the world, there weren't too many other candidates.
Angelina Jolie deserved it more than him. Really no other candidates. You mean to tell me there aren't people actually fighting within their own countries for liberties that we as American take for granted. For the right to free speech and the right to speak out of our a$$es. For actual work done and not just a vision of something they would like to do.
What is it with this idiot? First of all, Obama inherited this mess that the Republicans caused. Secondly, he didn't award himself this prize. This was given to acknowledge the hope for change that his election brought to the world. We were Hated by most of the world after the Bush-Cheney Era. I think our biggest mistake during their reign was that we acted like King of the World when we ignored the UN and attacked Iraq. We think we are hot sh** and Obama is trying to change that.Good for him. We try to teach our kids not to bully, yet this country is known for being the biggest bully ever. If this nitwit would stop crying, and try working for the good of this country, maybe we could get somewhere.
he's just angry that right chicken wingers are the butt of every joke around the world. right chicken wing's failure in the past will never be forgotten... its embarrassing. congrats to the President.
Let's tell the world not to call the US for any help. NO more help to any country that has a dictator and have citizens being killed. Let's stay out of Africa and let them kill each other. Let's stay out! You are just like those who live in neighborhoods that call the cops and when they show up you blame them for shooting your abusive husband. So let's let Iran make the bomb and one day use it on us just because they don't like us. Do you not get that. WE don't have to do anything they just don't like us and our "western" ways. You know like me(a woman) going to work and wearing really pretty clothes and perfume and lipstick. I should be taken to some arena and stoned to death because some a$$hole said I was pretty or smiled at me. It was my fault he did that. You looser. I could care less the world don't like us. Bush defended this country and we were safe. That after Clinton let us get bomb in every part of the world. Enough said. The best years were in the past and if we are smart we will vote for America come 2012.
Ok, I am a registered Republican, but Steele must have lost his mind and needs to use some of his Federal Health Care for some help. Otherwise, he and Joe Wilson make an unfortunate pair of bookends.
Joe Wilson has been proven correct, it a matter of record, but I don't want to rain on the touchy, feelie, short lived liberal parade; it will fade faster than a union thug at a work convention.
Let the boy keep his medal, in 2010, he will become totally impotent.
Bob Marshall: The boy is three times the "man" you think you are...and better educated as well. You're nothing but a racist idiot and a son of the confederacy wannabe! Go and get a life!
boy the party of no...no leader....no ideas no nothing is sure a cry baby party...may be all you right wing nuts should move to a country where every one believes the same thing, may be Iran or North Korea you would fit "RIGHT" in.
Even those countries are smart enough not to listen to these fools.
The Democrats would implode in a matter of weeks if the Depubicans left
Absolute and final confirmation of how BANKRUPT the GOP has become of ideas and lacks any intellect.
This is not about Obama or whether he deserves what he desrves or not. It is about where the world is going and to borrow someone's words - you are either with us or against us !
The GOP is welcome to go its way to the planet oblivion !
Well most of the No Nothing Party that was anti-immigration did join the Republican Party. Looks like the name applies again.
Don't you all get it? He did not award himself this prize. It was given to him not for what he has actually done, but for the new hope for peace that he brought to the world with his election. Good for him.
Unfortunately, it is mostly a vote for the fact he is not George W. Bush. Not sure that is a good reason for the award, but is does clear send a message how the rest of the world looks at the United States.
Kind of scary if you think about. Sounds a lot like how Iran and North Korea must see the US.
If he thinks he's "not worthy" (his words, not mine), he can always decline.
Yeah, like that's gonna happen.
Neil-798344
If he thinks he's "not worthy" (his words, not mine), he can always decline.
Yeah, like that's gonna happen.
----------------------------
You guys would just criticize him for doing that. You'd scream, "He's waffling! He doesn't want it now! He--" wait. You do that already with the President on Afghanistan, don't you? Never mind...
A big president, Obama is, a little intellect fights him but you have your right to protest, never forget my right to bury you with your own contradictions.
Ellen:
what have you been smoking???? Obama hasn't done a thing to advance world peace. As he has done throughout his whole career, he has given a number of good speeches. Ask yourself why he voted "no vote" as many times as he did while in the Ill. state house? The guy either can't make a decision or he doesn't want to be put on the spot for something he stands for. HE IS A FRAUD!!!!
And, by the way, THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE COMMITTEE GIVES AWARDS FOR "WHATE PEOPLE MIGHT DO, NOT WHAT THEY HAVE DONE". If they awarded people for what they have done, explain to me why Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini and Arafat were NOBEL PEACE PRIZE WINNERS??????
Excuse me but must you folks on the far right constantly rewrite history? Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Ronald Reagan nor George Bush ever won the Nobel Peace Prize. President Wilson, President Teddy Roosevelt and now President Obama have. Get over it.
I'm not all that surprised by the graceless reactions of a few; childishness has been raised to the level of a fine art by some. It all boils down to, "I'm not getting my way, so I'm going to pout." This is truly a proud moment for our country. Here, look, rest of the world, our politicians can rant and cry with Hugo Chaves, and the rest of the best. Meanwhile, I'll continue to hang my head in shame at the low level our elected leaders have reached.
And Bob, did you actually GO to school, or are you just getting your information from talk radio? You're clearly not qualified to make historical references.
I was right! I said the party of "Country First" would not be capable of being proud of our country and would just attack Obama! Aren't the GOP just pathetic!! Enough said of the Party of No, the Party of No Good Thing To Say, the Party of No Good Deeds, the Party of No Good Ideas!
