Former Vice President Dick Cheney has accused the White House of dithering over the strategy for the war in Afghanistan and urged President Barack Obama to "do what it takes to win."
Former Vice President Dick Cheney has accused the White House of dithering over the strategy for the war in Afghanistan and urged President Barack Obama to "do what it takes to win."
Hey Dick, you need to crawl back into your undisclosed location. Your administration dropped the ball on Afghanistan to go to Iraq. Didn't Bush tell the Taliban that he had no problem w/ them & they could stay in power if they turned Bin Laden over? Quit trying to change history. You guys blew it!!!!
Hey Gramps
Guess what this is why your guy in the White House got elected.
Change is what he promised.
Not the mess he is creating now.
We have some 68000 troops there are they to be scarified because their Chief can't make up his mind?
There are two choices. Win the war or get out!
I, too, was wondering why this man would be bringing attention to another one of their failures?
How many years did they "dither" around and endangered our troops? Who sent them to war without the necessary armour and supplies? Who privatized the military so that private contractors earn more in a month than our troops make in a year? Oh, and they condone rape of their employee's.
I believe Bin Laden is still free is he not?
Yes such a patriot,
Cheney, a greedy crook, should be tried for war crimes. He stole our money and our reputation in the world. He has a lot of guts telling our President what to do. I guess he's still raping the military to continue his Halburton buddies a massive pay check. His mouth should be duct taped.
Doesn't he have some friends to shoot in the face or something ? Go away Dick, nobody cares what you think anymore. You giving advice on the war is like an arsonist telling the firemen how to do their jobs.
It took Bush 4 months to decide on the surge in Iraq. Why the hurry now........ dick?
President Obama is rightfully taking time to make the "correctt" decision. It has been made more difficult by the corrupt govt Bush/Chebey placed in power. Karzai stuffed ballot boxes & got caught. And for those demanding quick action, winter has come to Afghanistan & it's damn hard to do anything in the area. Let alone get 40,000 troops & supplies into the country.
I totally agree Gramps. Dick is a all about Dick, he must feel some pressure that War Crimes will be bought up against him again. That is why he usually pops his head up, out of the his hole in the ground.
Who put all this into place? I believe it was Dick and George who rushed to judgement on Iraq, and were proved wrong and allegedly committed War Crimes in doing so. Leaving Afghanistan to fall back into the hands of the Taliban, that are troops had well under control, until they where pulled out and sent to Iraq.
Give Obama a chance, I hope as we all do that his decision will be the best for our troops and "Our Country".
Btw, George and Paulson went to Congress in a panic concerning TARP and passed under George. The Stimulus bill was passed under Obama with 0 republicans voting for it. Even though it was their tax relief for the wealthy, and two wars that in addition to Wall Street corruption that made The Stimulus a necessity, instead of a choice. The DOW has climbed 4,000 points since then. What would have happened with no Stimulus? I don't know, but would anyone want to go back and see?
Dither this, Darth Vader! Why should it matter what you think?? You and your puppet dropped the ball, which gives you zero right to comment on anything this administration is trying to clean up. I give our president kudos for giving careful thought to all of his decisions.
Why does our media continue to give this evil troll a platform??
Dick as an instrument of the British Foreign Office continues to Advocate his British handlers policy wishes and Obama's failure to recognize the trap for the perpetual ground war is why he is unable to develop a sound policy as first you must know the real master chess players.
I don't really see that there is any purpose to be in Afghanistan that's consistent with short term or long term US objectives.
Let's be honest... are we really going to reprogram these people into not growing drugs, believing Islam and hating the USA?
Unless we're planning on playing Cowboys and Indians and putting all these people on a reservation in say... Pakistan, I'd say any peace and security we achieve in that country will last right up until their first free election, or when we leave, whichever happens first.
Republicans ought to understand better than most that when you have a business that's losing money, you axe the sucker. This is what we need to do with both wars.
I have a SOLUTION to the global war on terror and it wouldn't cost a DIME...
... deny visas and greencards of any sort to any person from any country that might actually harbor these people. DONE! A little political incorrectness would save a trillion dollars.
For you here that think its OK do dither as you put it. Please write the father that just lost a son because they had no support cover and all the sons/daughter there and explain your thoughts awhile you sit in front of your computer safe. Or better yet enlist. After all if you feel your president is making all the right decisions you should feel comfortable serving under him.And by the way I already served.
Gramps, agreed.
Now we know why the Bush/Cheney decisions were so quick and so clear...
Kappi tells us "There are two choices. Win the war or get out!"... kinda like "You're either with us or against us". I wish everything was as simple as Cheney thinks it is... that way we could just flip a coin like they seemed to (with a double headed coin).
It is NOT clear that we should send 40,000 troops. It IS time to reset our strategy and to "get it right" for a change. And we should hold until we know who we're dealing with after the election. Things change folks. Taliban strength, Taliban strategy, the affects of Pakistan's effort on Afghanistan, the affect we have on Pakistan's effort, the strength of Afghan's leaders and their level of corruption and support... all have changed and all should play into what we do.
Cheney needs to contract with FOXnews... fits right in. "The world according to Cheney". lol.
jake, my status as a DAV, (Disabled American Veteran), prevents me from reupping. While Bush & Cheney were getting out of serving their country, I & many other Americans went to the jungle. These 2 couldn't fight for their country but were willing to send others to battle wars they started. They showed how inept they were by dropping the ball in Afghanistan & lying to get us into Iraq. Support cover? There are more soldiers in Afghanistan now than at any time during the last administration. A lot more!!!!
And Jake, that's not the way it works. You paint a picture like there's a fire-fight in progress and they're relying on Obama's 40,000 troops to save them. Get real.
The current tactical plan is playing out and if back up troops aren't there, then there was a breakdown in a plan somewhere. That's the kind of false pressure that makes for hurried and wrong decisions.
Duplicate post cancelled.
Dick Cheney has nothing to gain or lose at this point. He is entitled to an opinion just like every other American. We have a right to think and a right to speak. Maybe he's tired of all the Bush's fault stuff. President Obama ran for office, knowing what was ahead of him.
I know many dislike Mr.Cheney. I am not one of them. Did his administration make mistakes? They did. Will the new administration make mistakes? I think they have. Do both administrations love this Country? I think so.
LMARC I have a nephew and friends there. I also communicate with them. And live in a military town. No they do NOT have the support they need or should have. My nephew even wrote us and stated he has never felt so far he could actually die. But with everything going on he wants to ensure his daughter is taken care of and wants us to ensure she gets what he has.
Cheney was more interested in their little money making venture in Iraq to do any real good in the fight against terrorism. A REAL president would have kept all of the troops in Afghanistan and really gotten the bloody job done. FU, Cheney, you are a POS.
I believe it was Cheney who went into hiding as VP & when he was called to serve in Viet Nam!!!
"The White House must stop dithering while America's armed forces are in danger," the former vice president said. "It's time for President Obama to do what it takes to win a war he has repeatedly and rightly called a war of necessity."
Obama has his own words used against him time and time again , this is another case of it , Obama called it a "war of necessity" and now he is being held accountable for his words , his actions and his promises.
Dick is 110% correct , while Obama sits on his hands , our boys DIE !!!!
It's time for Obama to put his big boy pants on , and DO SOMETHING !!!! either way , pull us out , or fight the war , don't leave our men and women there to hang in limbo and get killed , while you take your trips to Denmark on our tax dollars.
It's time to SHI* OR GET OFF THE POT !!!!
the problem is , Obama can't remember from 1 day to the next what he said , because he didn't say it , a teleprompter said it , and he just went along for the ride because a 24 year old white boy wrote the speech !!!!
Obama is nothing more than a puppet and a liar.
IMPEACH THIS DO NOTHING BUM NOW !!!
and for you:
Hey Dick, you need to crawl back into your undisclosed location.
He should take Carter and slick willy with him !!!!
Jake, And I absolutely want our troops supported! If they find that they can't provide adequate cover in the far-reaching areas of Afghanistan , then they should pull our kids out of those areas for now.
The point is that there are 40,000 new kids that could be put in harms way as well... more so if we have a strategy based on a house of cards government in Afghanistan.
Mike,
Money necessary to furnish our troops, and send more troops over has been reigned in by congress not President Bush
If you're talking about past Afghan funding.... no, there wasn't the resistence to Afghan funds like there was in Iraq. Besides, Bush got all the funds he wanted for the wars... am I wrong?
Its too bad you think so ill of "liberals" and put them all so solidly in a single class. But, that aside, this is not a "backbone" issue. It would have been easier to go with the flow rather than stop the train to make a decision... I think it takes a great deal of backbone to do what the adminstration is doing.
Once again...more name calling and finger pointing and no defense of what Obama is doing. He's now setting a "timetable" to make a decision. Are you kidding me???? Didn't he say this was a "war of necessity"?? Was he BSing then or BSing now???
Harrumph .. it's a dangerous world out there - no one seems to realize it ... harrumph ... Liz knows ... we're constantly under attack ... there's someone outside the bunker at this moment .... gotta get my shotgun ... LIZ!!!!!
Actually LMARC I work with several Libreals and we actually discuss issues quite frequently. And most agree we either need to pull them out or send them the support they need. But WE have all agreed Obama can't just sit on this.
It would be nice to see the President do SOMETHING...ANYTHING besides worry about 2010 and 2012.
The only war he's concerned with is the one he's decided to wage against FOX News.
Pathetic excuse for an AMERICAN President.
Pulling in critical thinkers to create the best strategy BEFORE committing to 40,000 more troops is ABSOLUTELY consistent with acknowledging that Afghanistan is a war of necessity.
Waiting until we know what the f#$% kind of leadership we have to deal with there before committing our kids lives is ABSOLUTELY consistent with our values and EVETY form of reasoning.
Irresponsibly sending 40,000 troops we don't have in harms way after conditions have changed so radically in Afghanistan would be absolutely IDIOTIC.
Its about time we approached this war from a perspective different that "$hit or get off the pot" or "you're either with us or against us".
LMarcT
So McChrystal is just "irresponsibly" requesting more troops??? In that case, Obama should remove him from his command.
"Dick's" solution to EVERYTHING is to SHOOT IT FIRST, and worry about the consequences later. No wait --- I'm wrong...he NEVER worries about the consequences of his actions, as in making REALLY bad decisions.
Hey "Dick?" You seem to have a pathologic fondness for sending young American men and women to their deaths. Just how many years did YOU serve in the military again? Remind us........
(By the way, "Dick," you are named MOST appropriately. Your mother knew what she was doing there.)
Irresponsibly sending 40,000 troops we don't have in harms way after conditions have changed so radically in Afghanistan would be absolutely IDIOTIC.
But pushing a TRILLION dollar Health bill that noone's read, with money "we don't have" , is your idea of "$hit or get off the pot"- or "You're with us or against us" being used more appropriately?
Just as with your Supreme Leader, your priorities are more about pandering to the party, than the well-being of our citizens and servicemen/women.
he should not make promises that he can not keep. can not blame President Bush for what he lies about.
From the White House to NewsVine posters the left is the same. Sling crap but answer no questions.
hey phsyco tom I don't think Mr. Chaney is going to read this blog. no need to talk directed to him.
The neo-cons by way of a blundering President and his Darth Vader, took their eye off the ball in Afghanistan to enrich their business partners and themselves in Iraq. So after eight long bloody years in Afghanistan, what to we have to show for it? Very few trained police and military and a possibly destablized Pakistan. No, its Obama who inherited this fiasco and now it is he who finally got Pakistan to realize they need to fight for their way of life. This will go further to help our situation than anything Cheney ever did or bloviate.
"the former vice president said. "It's time for President Obama to do what it takes to win a war he has repeatedly and rightly called a war of necessity."
Wrong Dick Cheney ... Obama was elected to end this big failure that you and Bush got us into.
Now, now, caibarrien. Don't be so harsh on ol' DICK and his sock puppet. They were too busy searching for oil (errr...I mean "protecting America") in Iraq to spend much time on Afghanistan.
"Mission NOT Accomplished," eh DICK?
LMarcT-
If the governement of Afganistan is not favorable - meaning it doesn't provide the promise of victory - then we just turn tail and leave?
I heard that this war was the RIGHT ONE - it was the - ONE OF NECCESSITY.
As I understand those statements - it would mean the one important to our interests ??
If true, then what is the point of dithering?
Lets' get on with it - go for it -
If we lack the intestinal fortitude then admit it and get out.
When all hell brakes loose in a few more years we will have a republican president with the stones to do what is needed for all of us - not one whose sole interest is self-preservation of power!
It is just wonderful how Barry, The POTUS, has brought such loving cooperation among all Americans, now willing to threaten and maim each over one man's opinion.
Divisiveness, hate, rudeness, racism, incompetence of Congress, the Executive attacking the First Amendment RIGHT of FREE SPEECH --- America is becoming a dreadful, leaderless banana republic................
NEWS FLASH: EURO now valued at $ 1.50.............
Nice going Baranke and Timmy.....................
Obama is weak and a total puppet. He is the master of playing the game of wag the dog though...
As a life long Republican I just have to ask. When Dick goes hunting, why can't he get shot for once. Please, go away old man. You are a used up, has been; a Dinosaur.
Anybody who thinks that we can UNF*CK Afganistan is delusional. Crazy. A Moran. Stupid. Ignoring centuries of history. It doesn't matter how long we stay or how many troops we put in, Afganistan is the butthole of the world and we can't fix it. Get out NOW.
To all my fellow "so-called" Conservatives out there, answer me this. How can we continue to fight a war we can't afford? We are borrowing the money from China. To all you Tea-Party marchers, why doesn't pissing away $3,000,000,000 for Iraq and Afganistan make you as mad as spending $1,000,000,000 for better health care for Americans? Why can we afford the first but not the second? Go figure?
I like how everyone on this newsvine thinks they are a national security expert because they read MSN online. We get our info from the ignorant media. That means that none of us have enough info to decide who dropped the ball and who didnt. We always have and always will get the spin. So Just give it up. There is nothing we can do other than go vote.
The Bush administration was not perfect but I bet there are so many things that they would never let the public know. Things that would cause panic. We need to give both sides a break while they work it out.
What a shock. Obama and his administration is caught lying again in an attempt to cover up their ineptitude. When are you Obots going to get tired of these 2 year olds blaming everyone else for their failure to deliver? Obama did not 'inherit' anything. He applied for a job he had no qualifications to work at and made all sorts of claims that he had plans in place to fix everything, especially Afganistan. Now that the affirmative action hire is figuring out he isn't 'all that' and he doesn't have a clue what to do, he's whining it's not his fault. It is no wonder he's in the public sector. In the private sector, he would have been canned by now. In the private sector, you actually have to perform and have results to be rewarded. The private sector doesn't reward intentions or rhetoric.
You would think when this guy keeps crawling out his spider hole somebody could get the cuffs on him and send him to Gitmo. Why isn't he in jail already?
Kappi you are pretty thick. I love it. A child might make that kind of a statement.
And by the way, health care might have been maybe a little part of my guy getting elected, what do you think.
Your guys have cocked decision making is why we are in this war. Maybe you should put that in your pipe and smoke it.
I like the idea that he is taking his time instead of listening to a bunch of war monger army pukes who have never done anything but war.
It took Bush 4 months to decide on the surge in Iraq. Why the hurry now........ dick?
Actually, there was a lot of friction between Cheney and Bush because Cheney was pressuring Bush to go with the surge and Bush resisted because he was getting hammered so hard by the left and the MSM.
In his indecision, Obama shows that he, like Bush, was more worried about the political fallout of his decision than the men on the battlefield. Gutless coward needs to either pull out or send the extra troops, and take the flack either way.
Unfortunately, A vote of "Present" is not going to work here, Mr. President.
p.s. I have to agree with Jonedep up there... Get out now and secure our borders. Give aid to the people of Afghanistan and let them deal with the militants.
Isn't this a conversation that Dickie should have been having with Georgie in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005...?
Dick, shut up and go hunting with Sarah and take 'W' along too.
Fred:
"In his indecision, Obama shows that he, like Bush, was more worried about the political fallout of his decision than the men on the battlefield."
-------------
Uhhhhh.....Fred, I think you got that backwards. Seems that the BEST WAY to worry about our men on the battlefields is to NOT SEND THEM TO THE BATTLEFIED IN THE FIRST PLACE? Putting even MORE young Americans is not necessarily protecting more lives --- but it definitely DOES send more Americans into harm's way.
In any case, perhaps it's smart to think about strategy and objectives BEFORE tossing more young men and women into the fray? It's clearly not the Dick Cheney way, but that's because it's the SMART way....
Obama's total indecisiveness and stalling on Afghanistan and his constant campaigning when our troop are in harms way makes him at best a liar and at worst a murderer.
To me he is nothing less than a blathering idiot whose total lack of leadership is costing American lives. And all the while on here the libs cheer this strategy. Apparently they love seeing our soldiers die and even appluad when they do die. Liberals are about the most evil and vile people on this earth.
I think at this point Obama should be tried for war crimes.
Jake you served without cover under Bush, and your particular war game player. This decision is not about cover. It is about escalation.
Where did you serve? In Alabama?
There seems to be a common thread here, no matter which side of the argument you're on.
GET IN or GET OUT.
As a fiscally conservative, life long, Republican who recognizes that we can no longer afford to borrow money from China to fund EITHER war, my vot is GET OUT.
Anybody still think we'll be out of there in 16 months? Didn't think so. End the illegal wars NOW.
The (KFC)Colonel has clearly breathed in too many hot grease fumes. Hey KFCColonel -- back away from that deep fat fryer and get some fresh air!!
So all you Cheney bashers...address his point not the person. Obama has let the issue lag 78 days now - how many have died because Obama hasn't decided to scale up to win or decide to leave? I am OK with either. I think he is simply a coward for not making a decision and allowing people to die while he ponders his political future. He will not take a stance on anything... Cheney's point is valid.
Colonel -
If you somehow think that GW and Dick (let's not forget "The Rummy" either) did a GOOD job managing these Wars, you sir, are NOT nearly the military expert your name claims to be.
The US should put old sourpuss Cheney, George Bush, Carl Rove, and Rumpsfeld in GITMO, for the wonderful things they have done to the USA. He has a nerve commenting on anything as he is a crook and a failure. GO GOP!!!!!!!

In case you missed it, Tom, we've had a lot of casualties lately in scenarios where our outposts have gotten over run. Sending more troops would help secure areas that are not secure now. This half-assed way of running that war is obviously not working. The troops that are there will be getting picked off because they're strung our too thin across the country. Either make the deicison to send more or get the hell out. Surely you see the wisdom behind that?
Coming from a guy who dithered on Afghanastan for 7 years this is pretty rich. Cheney is the last person in the world who should be giving advice on world affairs or national security to anyone as he knows nothing.
Dick Cheney is great. This is how a real man talks and walks. Not like Obama who has no balls....
Either fight it to win it or pull them all out and watch the Afghany people be victims of the Taliban again and watch the ethnic cleansing begin.
The longer this goes with the new President the more other country's are turning against the US because of his lack of experience. Hello is anyone getting this yet?? There is one big question mark over our New Presidents head when it comes to everything he has been doing so far. The facts Stop pointing fingers and look how fast our country is spiraling out of control!!! USA is turning into a lost cause period. If you don't see it, YOUR BLIND!!!
Gramps
jake, my status as a DAV, (Disabled American Veteran), prevents me from reupping.
Commen sense from vets like you and me dictates to not become cannon fodder.
Under Obamas new ROE's he has no interest in winning this war.
Our commander in Afghanistan has issued a new tactical directive, laying out how he wants units on the ground to conduct their operations.
Under this new directive civilian life's are more important.
I spoke to a recruiter a little over a week and a half ago. I was getting ready to sign up for a new 6 year tour. As a vet i was a slam dunk to return to the army. My line score where high enough to get just about any job I wanted but then there is the needs for the army which after reading the new directive those needs currently is for cannon fodder. This commander and chief and this commander on the ground have no interest in anything other then us looking good to the people. Screw the people they could give a rats rear end about us.
Mav
Dick Cheney is just like an old guy who batted .182 lifetime in the minors telling everybody what a feared batter he was back in the days and how today's players stink. Except we were around in his playing days and know what a bum he was.
HAHA!!! Dick Cheney comes out of his undisclosed location to pss and moan again. If there were ever a live action version of the Muppet Show. I think my first casting call would be to Dick and Newt for the old guys in the balcony.
Amen, Kappi
The man behind the curtain in the White House is a Pansi!
Give the Generals what they need and finish this thing quick with an exit stretegy or get them the hell out NOW!
Infact send them 100 thousand and do a complete sweep in afghanistan train the troops for a year ONE YEAR and get everyone out !
The Afghan plan was no big secret. The specific details were never released but the concept was shift 60-100,000 troops from Iraq to Afghanistan, Meet the insurgents where they are with overwhelming force, modify the "meet the citzens where they are" approach to afghanistan, and establish a consistent presence where they are.
Obama cut the plan to 20,000 - 30,000 troops. The Talliban reads our news media and understand. They see this as a tepid response with an even greater opportunity to advance before we respond with enough force.
Most of my reading time is on MS NBC. This information was gleened from here. How can so many not see this?
Yeah, we need to take the crit/advise of the man that got us into this morass and profited from it to boot>
Not in this lifetime! Go back to Wyoming ...they need you to deal with the wolf problems...
Infact send them 100 thousand and do a complete sweep in afghanistan train the troops for a year ONE YEAR and get everyone out !
Why 100 thousand? Because it's a round number? Why one year? Because it makes sense to you? Do you know how many ships and jets it takes to move 100,000 men and women? How about their equipment? How will you feed them? Where will they sleep? From where will you get them? If 100,000 can train the Afghan army in 1 year, why were 30-50,000 unable to train that army in 8 years? Sadly, simplicity passes for decisiveness for a growing proportion of Americans.
Blah Blah Blah
You DNC and RNC cultist Elect The same cultist leaders over and over expecting differing results .Bush did not win a war because we are not at war Obama will not win a war because we are not at war.We are the worlds police plain and simple we are after criminals of other countries if we were at war we would have destroyed all who are not controlling there criminals. We know where the terrorist of 9/11 came from we know who is supporting the taliban and Al-Qaeda we have not and will not destroy them. Dick Cheney is, unfortunately, a very dangerous man. Too many people listen to him and believe what he has to say. Has anyone been paying attention to the "tea party" folk out there?!
The Talliban reads our news media and understand. They see this as a tepid response with an even greater opportunity to advance before we respond with enough force.
Advance? Advance from where? Their bases in S. Waziristan are being shelled this week by the Pakistani army. It is the first major offensive by the Pakistani army in the history of this war. If anything, the Taliban are being weakened as we speak.
Dick Cheney is, unfortunately, a very dangerous man. Too many people listen to him and believe what he has to say. Has anyone been paying attention to the "tea party" folk out there?!
no.
Notavoter---DEAD ON!!!!!! I'm afraid that even if we wake up, it's too late now!!!!! The FEMA camps are in place with coffins stored as high as the buildings. FOR WHO???? For those that don't go with the program!!!! It has to happen or the bible will be a lie!!!!!!
Help Batman, the Penguin is up to his dirty tricks again!
Isn't it about time to turn off the mike of the FORMER VP? I don't remember Pres. Clinton or VP Gore telling the new administration how to run their administration. If Afghanistan was such a piece of cake, don't you think the former administration would have finished that job before taking on Iraq? There are, of course, going to be missteps in any military action, but I think that a cool head and decisive actions should prevail over the rush to "War on Terror" that got us into this mess.
First of all you need to read the part of the article where it explains who he was talking to (Conservative select group). He was not there out of the kindness in his heart, he was there to get money. He would not be paid by people who put politics above America if he agreed with the other side as they see it.
As a Conservative/Independent I see it much different than he does but like him I don't have all the information.
Those of you yelling for more troops to save lives and winning have never been in a war setting or are just repeating the paid speakers. What exactly do you think victory would look like? This is not a war of some wearing red uniforms and the others wearing blue. It is a war of setting up a Government and getting the people to buy it's philosophy.
Our first step of course is setting up a Government that we can trust or at least a semi honest one( I'm not sure we have that yet). Once that is in place then we will have to determine if the majority of the people will accept and support them. ( If they will not do either we cannot win) IF they do accept the Government then we will have to both train their people to protect it and at the same time do battle with those who will not. You will never gain complete acceptance but we will have to make sure those that do at least equal and are as well trained and armed as those who don't. Do we have that now?
That is what we may have in Iraq and what we are hoping for in Afghanistan. That is also what a victory will look like.
Cheney advocating more troops without all the ifs at least somewhat in place is will accomplish nothing more than more body bags.
Who are these additional troops going to shoot at? Are they going to just randomly attack people or ask the bad guys to raise their hands? It will be like Viet Nam, people working on your base during the day were shooting at you during the night.
A conflict without a plan is like walking without a destination. You will cover a lot of area but how will you know when to stop?
We were attacked by Al-Qaida not the Taliban warlords. We now are fighting both and protecting a Government we put in place.
The Colon.. el
Apparently they love seeing our soldiers die and even appluad when they do die. Liberals are about the most evil and vile people on this earth.
Now you're really spewing some crap. I guess when the conversation goes to logic and process you get a little toungue tied? I think you know in your sole that a request for 40,000 troops for Afghanistan is no "minor adjustment" to the current strategy and that it would be idiotic to send them without pulling everyone together first. And not knowing who we are dealing with as Afghan leadership might me a slight problem... you think?
Raising the troop levels by 50% WILL mean more injuries and more deaths... not to speak of more money, a deeper deficit, and an even larger impact to future generations.
"Just send them!" you say? "We" love seeing our soldiers die? They died when we listened to you before... so this time, while we're gathering REAL facts and making SOLID decisions, you can kiss my liberal a$$!
Obama was briefed regarding Afghanistan and many other issues pertaining to his office before Bush stepped down. This I believe. To blame all of this on Bush is being narrow minded. Besides, Obama has more advisers than any otherPresident in the history of the United States so he can't tell me he wasn't informed like Pelosi did regarding interrogation practices.
Marvick (post way up there) I agree. Unfortuntly I have a nephew there right now.Are we worried. H*** yes.
Why is this guy still speaking? He should be somewhere with like Bush hiding in shame!
Dither this you big fat blow fart.
Jamie -
when loss was imminent in Iraq, El Qaida shipped their resources and people to Afghanistan and Pakistan. Until then, there was little to report in both Pakistan and Afghanistan. Pakistan was content to not agitate the Taliban and Al-Qaida until last year, when they started taking over whole cities and valleys. We have been slow to respond in Afghanistan.
This area is their remaining power center. Destroy it, an you have peace. Not doing so will permit a new 911 sometime in the furture. This group hates us and will not stop until vanquished.
Yep Dick there has been a lot of "dithering" and "disrespect for the lives of our troops" but it is coming to an end.
We beat the Taliban with less than 1,000 pairs of boots on the ground. They we dithered and gave it back to the Taliban under your aegis.
We had no strategy for Afghanistan, so we just pulled out and went to Iraq where we had no strategy. Yep, that was very disrespectful for the lives of our troops, Dick.
We propped up a puppet corrupt government in Afghanistan and then cannot understand why the people will not give it their whole-hearted support. Yep, Dick, you did a fine job in hand-picking Karzai (and Chalabi for that matter.)
You had bin-Laden cornered at Tora Bora and then called off the U.S forces and let him go. Smart move there, Dick.
The country's bill for your 7 years of conflict is around $3 trillion, but because it was "off the budget" it didn't count. Good "creative" accounting there, Dick.
And last, but certainly not the least, in the first two years of the Second Iraq War, you made over $6 million from Haliburton in deferred compensation. Then the rules were changed so that you did not have to report deferred compensation unless it appeared on your tax forms. How much did you make from the war, Dick? I've seen estimated from $25 to $100 million.
And then there are those draft deferments, Dick. I am a Vietnam vet. You committed felonies to avoid the draft on at least 4 occasions. You're really a brave kind of guy, aren't you, Dick? I had friends who died in Vietnam. Your friends were more of the Limbaugh, Gingrich, Bush types --- all Jane Fondas to the core.
Gramps. and what is your strat? how about Nancy P and Hillary C. Maybe all you Liberals can wad up your NYT and throw hot Starbucks on them. Maybe you can give them free abortions like you do in the US and hope they stop reproducing. How about Cap and Trade. i think their country produced more than the US right now considering Odouch Bag has destroyed the US economy with every regulation, take over, or new tax. You liberal smoked too much pot to know your a!! from a hole in the ground. You and Alex B need to move to Europe. Better yet, move to the middle east and see how fast they slit your throat. then you won't be so happy to go after our military officers for interrogating criminals, killers, rapists, and terrorists.

How does what the Colonel knows in his feet have anything to do with the price of OBAMA LOVE in this discussion?
Again I will ask you -
If this war is "THE RIGHT ONE" "THE ONE OF NECESSITY"
Then what in the world of OBAMA LOVE does the leadership of Afganistan matter ?
Might they do something -
to quote Elmer Fudd
"vwerry, vwerry bad to us"
Give it up - our
DITHERER in Chief - WHINER in Chief - etc.. everything but COMMANDER
Next to hating Republicans, Radio Talk Show Hosts, Fox News basically anyone that doubts the path of OBAMA LOVE --
Making Hard Decisions without a certain path to glory and credit he is loathsome to do.
This article really got the libs going.......funny!
OK, so Dick is a scheming, greedy, vicious , pompous ass, BUT IS HE WRONG???
no, HE'S NOT-
The term "dupe" used to be used for people who thought the Soviet Union was the nicest organization around, and who did everything they could to subvert Americas resistance against them.
NOW, it can be applied to the Taliban / AlQueda -hugging folks, who for some see nothing wrong with subjugating Muslim women, blowing up innocent people, and in general terrorizing the world.
I really don't understand it- liberals scream for human rights , safety, and freedom for all peoples, but as soon at the U.S. does ANYTHING to cause the bad guys a problem, they start complaining. Of course they have don't have any OTHER ideas as to how to solve the problem, so it's just yell, yell, yell, and support the criminals. Weird.
Stupid.
Old Dick has no room to talk. There are 21,000 more troops in Afghanistan than when these guys left office. While I would like to see the rookie move a little quicker there's no doubt 6 years of neglect set us up for the situation we're in now (of course Pakistan ignoring their new "residents" sure didn't help!!).
If anyone thinks that the Obama administration is going to do any better, they are sadly mistaken. W was elected as the lesser of the two evils, and Obama got in because the Republican party self-destructed during the campaign.
When was the last we had a "Stand-Up" person in the White House?
My choice will be Gerald Ford until I see someone better. He scuttled his own political career to bind a nation wounded by a pair of true scoundrels; Richard Nixon and Spiro Agnew.
As a nation we need to demand more of our leaders instead of calling each other names. You can either fix the blame or fix the problem. I think we need to start on the problems.
Then what in the world of OBAMA LOVE does the leadership of Afganistan matter ?
Are you referring to Karzai, who just stole an election?
Not only was the Bush administration the ditherers, but Cheney was a Vietnam draft dodger. What a flaming joke!
Mike 501780
Where are your medals? Where are your wounds? unless you have gained both in the service of your country, YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO RIGHT TO TALK THE WAY YOU DID HERE. You talk like one of those spineless self-serving politicians (BUSH, CHENEY) who hide behind the real patriots and send them off to die while you are engineering additional profits for yourselves and your other spineless friends.
The Bush administration were the ditherers. And Cheney was a Vietnam War draft dodger. What a flaming joke!
Indeed Chaney should crawl back under his rock. The situation in Afghanistan is being thoroughly analyzed now before stumbling in with more of what the American people got rid of in November of 2008----Bush and Cheney. His criticism of President Obama reveals him for what he is-----a throwback to the Cold War.
I think Cheney, for me, has finally risen to crotchety grampa. His stupid, out of touch remarks used to infuriate and offend me. Now I just chuckle, pat him on the head and guide him back to the TV room so he can watch the History channel's latest WWII documentary.
I imagine it will be emasculating when it happens to me.
You can talk about Cheny all you want and bring up the past but this boy you libs are so damn proud of is a born loser and you very well know it.
The reason he cannot make a decision, with the exception of getting onstage and using a teleprompter to shoot of his mouth, is he is intellectually unequipped to be doing this job, if he is then let's see his GPA. He won't even produce a verifiable birth certificate and as a marketed shill, I will admit he is all you can expect him to be, a frigging loser who is nothing more than a inexperienced, marxist socialist who has surrounded himself with those of the communist persuasion and are just as dishonest and greedy as he and his Chi-Town thugs are.
Libs, tell us all why he has paid to keep legal restraints on his public records, all would like to hear the lame inexcuseable reasons as to why this is, you can't tell us the truth because there is nothing to tell.
Cheney may not be all you think he should be but he can prove he is a American, he is not a communist and I would bet he has no birth ties to being a muslim and his life is a open book. Now if you lib clowns can go one better than that then please, let's see you put it in writing....your guy is a lying dummy and that is becoming more evident to the whole world every day.....aren't you two bit clods proud of yourselves?
WOOHOO! You receive a commemorative Fox 'n' Friends T-shirt for your unrivaled use of key words. Let's look at the replay:
libs (2)
teleprompter
birth certificate
marxist socialist communist (all in the same sentence, that must have taken time to pull off, like a yatsee or something!)
communist (again!)
muslim
Wow! You really hit the jackpot. For more Fox n Friends points you might want to try more use of "Kool-Aid," "facist," "hitler," "stalin," "pol pot," "second amendment," "Ayers," "acorn," along with a variety of others found at foxnews.com.
Good job!
Your T-shirt and Fox News cup-o-tea should be arriving in 4 to 6 weeks.
ATTA BOY FOR YOU!
So you going to prove your clown is good for something?
Steve-543647 ", too, was wondering why this man would be bringing attention to another one of their failures?"
I presume you are talking about Raum Emanuel. LOL
It is certainly true that Obama's vascillation and indecision is emboldening our enemies and making our allies, in and out of Afghanistan, wonder about the wisdom of supporting the United States.
"Amateur Night" at the White House is getting embarrassing,
My sentiments exactly! Cheney was so intent on invading Iraq that he and Bush took their eyes off the ball in Afghanistan. Their neglect in Afghanistan allowed bin Laden to escape into Pakistan from Tora Bora. It also allowed the Taliban to re-generate itself and return to power. Cheney has ZERO credibility on Afghanistan and should crawl back into his hole.
Awww. Zero Fox 'n' Friends points for you Roy. Raum Emanuel is not yet on the Fox 'n' Friends points site. Rahm Emanuel is though! 20 points for correcting your spelling.
Dakota----That's the problem with you libs. Only remember the bad stuff pointed at the PRIOR administration. Both Clinton and GORE made horrific statements regarding BUSH when he was President. Don't remember them???? How convenient.
I don't have to give you all a geography lesson. We went into AFGHAN and chased AQ right into Pakistan. For awhile, activity there in regards to bombing was minimized. Think about when we did enter Iraq. Got into Baghdad quickly and secured the city. BUT then all of a sudden you had this insurgency. WELL WHERE THE HELL do you think they all came from???? ALL OVER. We would have been out of there if there was NO assistance from Syria and Iran. THAT'S what kept us there sooooo much longer. Insurgents came from everywhere to fight our troops and I am glad that we killed thousands of them. Better to fight there than in the theater we are now. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE. COMPLETELY different terrain and conditions. I read another post on here.....our intelligence on a daily basis must have to deal with sooooo much potential for our country's destruction....NONE OF YOU WOULD WANT TO KNOW ABOUT IT. The only thing I ask is to keep us safe and I don't care HOW THEY DO IT. In Afghan now, our boys are limited in this fight. You mine as well tie their hands behind their backs. RIDICULOUS!!!! Pakistan ONLY NOW is doing something about THEIR insurgence. It's about friggin time. WE needed their help all along and I BLAME THEM mainly for the status quot. We have given them BILLIONS to help them with this fight and ONLY NOW they are finally attacking those areas along the border.
We have a president still campaigning for Health-care and placing our Troops on the back burner and Jobs! priority little screwed up here
what else can we say his name says it all! DICK cheney
lemarct...
then they should pull our kids out of those areas for now.
They're not kids. They're more of a man or a woman than you'll ever hope to be.
They're not kids. They're more of a man or a woman than you'll ever hope to be.
They are both. 50 year old men are coming back in coffins. 19 year old boys, who still love fart jokes, are coming back in coffins. War doesn't discriminate, and our loved ones should only be asked to fight if the fight is worth dying for. I'm no longer sure Afghanistan, and its corrupt gov't and people, are worth dying for.
Course, this was BO's theme, that the war in Afghanistan was much more important than Iraq. Remember you left wingers? Remember? Course not. This Administration that was running for office is a far cry from the one in office. I wonder how you would think if you had a son over there that is fighting for his live every damm day and clearly needs help! BO needs to quit listening to the leftwing radicals in his ear and listen to the field commanders that he put there. It is clear to me that this first term junior senator from chicago is not clearly in charge and was not ready to lead this country!
Chenney needs to get a job at the sewer treatment plant. He has a lot of experience in feeding BS to us, stirring BS and general is a s**t for brains. They had the capability to finish the job in Afghanistan but decided to go into Iraq. The only job they started and finished was shrinking the middle class, bolstering the wealthy, screwing the economy for generations getting 5000 soldiers killed in Iraq when they could have put those resources to work in Afghanistan. Now you have these blow-hard neocons upholding him and blaming this rat's arse economy on Obama. What a bunch of mindless morons.
Wow another Republican who spouted nonsense to get us into a trillion dollar war based on lies. Thanks Republicans!!!
Dick: Define "Win or Succeed" in Afghanistan please!? What is a "win"? Did not get one in Korea, or Vietnam or even Iraq! What is a win Dick? Please do tell your definate word! Perhaps your daughter can help as she is a more recent grad.
By the way, DO NOT FORGET to lay out the TOTAL costs: $$$, military deaths, militiary family suffering, Afgani hate, Middle East hate, US decline in world opinion, THE TOTAL COST DICK!
Cheney just needs to shut the @!$%# up.
Guess what this is why your guy in the White House got elected.
Change is what he promised.
Not the mess he is creating now.
So let's see...the war in Afghanistan has lasted for eight years -- that's two years longer than World War II -- and since we dropped the ball to invade Iraq we are no closer to winning now than we were eight years ago. Obama has been in charge for nine months, while his illustrious predecessor had over seven years to win or get out...and this is Obama's fault?
What planet are you guys from? Dick Cheney, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity...you guys could open your own private wing in your local insane asylum. Nothing is/was Dubya's fault huh? And what about health care reform? Somewhere around 60% of Americans favor a public option, but the Republicans say "no no no!". What became of members of Congress representing their constituents? Why do you represent large, greedy corporations? Oh yeah...they are the largest contributors to your re-election campaign! Your vote, bought and paid for. You have all the answers, and the Democrats are all ill thinking socialists who are trying to destroy America.
And I'm the King of Belgium...
Kappi Comment collapsed by the community
Hey Gramps
Guess what this is why your guy in the White House got elected.
Change is what he promised.
Not the mess he is creating now.
We have some 68000 troops there are they to be scarified because their Chief can't make up his mind?
========================
Hey Kappi, the ones who couldn't seem to make up their minds about how to run Afghanistan were bush and cheney. They are the ones who decided not to finish the job there and instead invade Iraq. dick cheney is a jacka@@ who needs to shut the hell up. We all have seen where the eight years of decision making from bush and cheney took us and this country.
Not a Voter,
There is a good reason to be more angry vis a vis Cheyney's wealth and position. Unlike Cheyney most but not all of your list earned their wealth in non govenment related industries, inherited it or achieved wealth through marriage. Americans have nothing against wealth it's how you get it. Every dime Mr. Cheyney has ever made is a direct result of being able to peddle government influence and obtain defense contracts. Do you think Halliburton wanted him for his BA from Wyoming or his part time jobs while attending college for six years plus masters time to avoid the draft. Everything he has attained in life is through the sale of political influence, I am not sure the same can be said for anyone else on your list.
JKHayes
A one word description of Cheney - IDIOT. Nuf said!
NEW POLL FROM CNN:
Would you pay $4.95 to attend a motivational speech by President George W. Bush?
Yes 31% 80894
No 69% 180656
Given how entertaining Bush is with his repertoire of gaffes how much do you think they would have to pay people to hear Dick Cheney give a motivational speech??
You all seem to know alot about politics. But not alot about the war. As a soldier I know plenty about Afgh. I know plenty of death of friends and death of enemy. I have seen more death and nightmarish scenes in my 11 years of service than I care to.
I will tell you why it is important we get the troops we need and why we need them now. We have been on defense since the GW left office and have strict ROE (rules of engagement) put on us by this adminstration. It is really hard to get approval to get fast movers as CAS and when you in a pinch, they can get there qick and have the wepons needed to make the difference in a fight.
The most important reason is that winter is coming. The Tali and AQ fighter retreat for winter leaving behind a small group to keep their type order over the areas that they control. If we get the requested troops we can go after them and be implace as the retreat for the the winter through the mountains. We will be set up and ready for when they try to cross the border into PAK or have the assets open to take them as they make their way through the mountain passes. We can be proactive and once again be on offense. Upon taking them in the mountain before they reach their safe areas to refit, rearm and recruite we can then assault the towns they hold hostage a free the people they keep under their thumb.
This is why everyone is in a rush. If we miss their there winter retreat we miss agreat oppertuntiy and they will come back in thaw fresh and ready for the summer. It not that complicated, from a Plt Sgt's mind. I dont worry about the politics, everyone has a differant veiw in the US. But those of us who are under fire HERE surrounded by the enemy have a little differant view on how we should proceed. Our Commander has issued his request based on what is going on, everyone knows war is fluid and time critical. You may not support the war or even remember wahy we took up the mission but WE do and are proud to be here.
Dick Cheney could be right at every turn... but because he is Dick Cheney and part of the hated administration we just shed, he will not be listened to by many.
We ought to be thinking of our sons and daughters, brothers or sisters, that are in the theater.... "What is the best way to move forward and to protect our own".
But like everything going on.... it is run through the political machine while the pawns are out there covering the ground.
We need to win this thing... and win it convincingly... or get out.
How many of you obama nerds have a "I voted for obama" bumper sticker on your car? I thought so-none!
It is clear to me that this first term junior senator from chicago is not clearly in charge and was not ready to lead this country!
Yes. We all remember. This is the good fight. Iraq is the bad, unnecessary fight. But the question remains, what are we fighting to achieve? And the accompanying question, how much are we willing to lose to achieve it?
The first question is the toughest and should be partially answered Nov 7 when the Afghans attempt to have a run-off election. If that election is legitimate and the gov't makes strides to strongly fight corruption, I think we have a partner in the region worth fighting to protect in a counter-insurgency fight. If the election is again stolen, it is time to reduce our footprint in that country and switch to a counter-terrorism fight consisting largely of special forces and drone attacks advocated by conservative columnist George Will and VP Joe Biden.
68,000 U.S. Troops on deck - probably another 10,000 to 15,000 allied troops on deck. Pakistan is finally involved and pushing the Taliban & Al Qaeda in our direction. We out-number the Taliban and Al Qaeda almost 7 to 1. I remember reading of a time where our Korean War Marines and Soldiers were killing the Chinese at a ratio of 1 U.S. service member for every 10 China-men. We're more technologically advanced today, better education - and motivated because of 9/11. So what's the problem Republicans?
Here the funniest point of all - tell any Republican that their child is going to war because Obama has finally made a decision - to send more troops to Afghanistan. The outcome - they would be after Obama's head claiming it's all his fault etc etc. If you're an independent or democrat you can't win against ignorance.
So the best way to shut Republicans up is to ignore them, stop reporting on them and hope that they'll finally get the hint and go away. They had their chance - didn't work. Obama has had only 10 months - he has plenty of time to use whatever tricks he has up his sleeve. If he's not successful - it wont be because of part affiliation, doctine or inactivity - it'll be because we American's talk a big game and make bad decisions - because our stomach for a necessary war and our resolve take the fight to the enemy is not that great - and when it is, it's when there is something to gain, personally, from it. Bottom line.
Semper Fi.
Hi Patriots ALL!
Mr. Cheney, can you pick up a phone and say your opinion directly to the President? Why blast it around the world?
Like, National Security? Dignity of the Office?
All Americans care about this issue. 'Dithering' is a term used by Imperialists who act before they think and don't want anyone else to use a better strategy.
Obama is indecisive about, GITMO, Health Care, Iraq, The Afgan war, another stimulas yes or no. This, as an Illinois citizen, is the guy who voted "present" over a hundred times as a state senator. Small wonder he can't make a decision or take a position. He never has!!!!!
Cheney is perfect to play the Wizard of Oz.
You know, a blow-hard wind-bag hiding behind the curtain.
Considering all the profit he's made off of these conflicts, essentially profiteering on the blood of our soldiers, he's merely a criminal in my mind.
Follow the yellow-brick road.
This, as an Illinois citizen, is the guy who voted "present" over a hundred times as a state senator.
People still use this line? It didn't work during the election. What makes you think it will change anyone's mind now?
Cheney is an ass that just keeps BLOWING OUT B.S....shut the hell up and die off already!!!! You and your cronies got us in this mess to begin with,or are you still in denial !!!!!!!!We need to stop ..and come home...enough is enough !!!!!!!
Why are we talking about the "LAST 8 YEARS STILL", even after Obama and company told the Bush administration to keep quiet about their research and plans for Afghanistan.
So liberals want it both ways (again), blame their numerous failures on the "last 8 years", but please don't tell the state run media that we plagiarized your plans. Up to the point where enforcing them would make us look unpopular, then we stick our head in the sand and ignored our generals who are screaming for some direction from the White House.
How's that "CHANGE" going for you? That's right the unemployment rate "CHANGED from 4.6% to 10.3%, and the Federal deficit "CHANGED" even more.
Don't like your freedom, move to Russia, or at least travel around the world a bit.
Dear Dick,
It figures. We are close to Halloween so the Boogie Man has to crawl out from under the bed and try and scare people. Dick, please, do everyone a favor and have a stroke. No one wanted you, needed you, and no one appreciated you. You are akin to a nasty stain on the fabric of America. You failed to get Bin laden, but succeeded in bilking this country blind for your personal gain. You, sir, are no patriot. You are a coward and war profiteer and should be tarred and feathered. You are a disgrace to this nation and seeing your mug frankly disgusts me, because it means you have crawled out of your spider hole to poison us some more. How you have managed to avoid being hauled before The Hague is beyond me.
It surprises me that you are more dispised, jeered, and cursed at than the clown that was your boss.
Remember when Hans Blixx was asking for more time to investigate Iraq and you pushed and pushed to start the invasion. The man was finding no WMD's but you insisted. Funny thing is, once you got your way and illegally invaded a sovereign nation, you couldn't find a single WMD. So what did you do??? Even though you swore to UN and the American people they were there, you couldn't find a single damn bomb or germ. So what did you do? Let me refresh your dementia-addled brain: You had your puppet go on tv and ASK FOR MORE TIME TO FIND THEM. You had the balls to ask for more time, just like Hans did. And like Obama is now. We gave you years and you failed. You failed. But you sure did get richer. We also got made up war hero stories about Jessica Lynch and Pat Tillman, which were covers for your ineptitude for running the wars. We were treated to your constant terror alerts and your spookings around election time. Your stubbornness has alienated us around the globe and made us laughingstocks, but you got richer.
But what really turns my stomach about you is how you wrapped the flag around your bloated carcass and tried to take credit for not letting another 9-11 happen. It is like you want us to erect huge monuments in your likeness for this, you glory seeking POS. Another 9-11 hasn't happened because the major law enforcement agency and cia are all working together to monitor the cretins that slip in here.
So from your lofty position, as you look down your nose at us little people and smuggly gloat over what you have and we don't, remember this: you'll never, EVER be respected again on the world stage or at home and will never again hold office. Only a complete fool would ever seek your input for anything. I know, small compensation for stealing billions and profiting off dead US soldiers, but that is you, sweetheart, that's what you do best. Please sing " I've gotta be me!" tonight as you snuggle down into your nuke shelter. The rest of us will pray you don't wake up.
Kisses
Kirk
Well stated Gramps!!
I am sickened by these chickenhawk, right-wing, non-serving cowards like Chee-nee, Bush, and their suppoters who think they have a clue how to defend this country, with absolutely no military experience.
The only people who give a damn about dick's opinion are the ones who were ignorant enough to have voted for the Bush administration who got us into this mess in the first place.
I think most people on thread have completely missed the logic of Bush /Cheney. Do you really war is optional? Do you think police are optional, too? Maybe we should just pull all our spending on police in this country, since people are so inately trustworthy.
What Bush / Cheney did was take the war to THEIR turf. If we hadn't attacked them, we would still be getting attacked. Do some friggin research before opening your mouths!! How many terrorist attacks have occurred since 9/11? Now, how many in the US? THAT is the point of Afghanistan and Iraq. Would you rather fight this war on THEIR HOMELAND or on OUR HOMELAND? That's your ONLY choice! Think about it. How are you going to feel when the next building that gets bombed has YOUR FAMILY in it? (My family was in Pentagon on 9/11)
War crimes?? Legality of war?? Give me a break! Animosity and hatred don't follow rules or laws. These terrorist don't have any "code of honor" that they follow. I am willing to suggest that what Bush / Cheney did protected untold numbers of American citizens. They made the unpopular decision to force these terrorists to fight this war in their backyard instead of ours. KUDOS TO THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION FOR THAT!
Meanwhile, Obama BOWS to the Saudi government, makes concessions to the Iranians / Russians, and offers free legal aid to any terrorist that tries to kill Americans. WTF???
Chenney is correct, if you are committed to a war then you should do everything you can to win. Bush did drop the ball on it if his objective was to win in Afghanistan. However, if their goal was to bottle up bin laden and crew then their stratagey worked pretty well. The problem with all the liberal sheep out here is that there isn't enough information out there to make an informed opinion. It isn't out of Obama's character to waffle over Afghanistan, during his campaign he was against the war. He later qualified his remarks so that he could gain votes of those committed to crushing Al Queda. While Obama waffles and his left wing idiots try to figure out what to do Americans are dying. Either support them and pay attention to the man you put in charge or get them out. BUT! If you pull them out now and leave a vaccum be prepared to fight this battle again later.
What's disgusting is that any plans that we are making can make there way to the headlines before they are even implemented. There is no "surprise" to our enemies anymore because everything is announced ahead of time.
War is hell... and we need to be in it to win, or get out. The goal needs to be precise and it must be run after in a manner that builds success.
The politics of war are nauseating, especially in the information age. Our troops know the politics better than we do. While they are out their being shot at... they have to keep in mind the rules. But our enemy has none. They just do whatever they can to kill their foe. Like flying airplanes into buildings full of civilians who are just going about their daily lives.
We either take the battle to them and win... or get out.
Right on, Gramps!!!!
Julian,
I am a Rep and I am serving. I joined under the Clinton Admin. So put your money where your mouth is. The military is made up of more REP than Librals.
In answer to your earlier question to me:
A huge part of the "new" strategy involves a great deal more than pure war on our part. It relies on the current Afghan government to build up its own military, police force, and security and our ability to trust that this will be done... done correctly and on an agreed-to timeline so we truly have an exit strategy that works. THAT is why it is critical that we have a legitimate supported government to negotiate with before committing more troops... make sense? Does to me.

Agreed... And I'm glad we have people in office right now that give a $hit whether they live out their lives to their fullest or not.
schwannomin "Awww. Zero Fox 'n' Friends points for you Roy. Raum Emanuel is not yet on the Fox 'n' Friends points site. Rahm Emanuel is though! 20 points for correcting your spelling."
Thanks for the spelling correction. Just add the 20 points to the National Debt, since nobody seems interested in it. By the way, did you know that, historically, the National Debt has increased twice as much as the "Deficit" each year?
PS - Is "Fox 'n' Friends any good? I've never seen it. I guess Beck and Hannity are getting under Obama's skin, but I don't watch "extreme" programs like Beck, Hannity, Matthews, Maddow or Olbermann - but I guess hardly anybody else listens to Matthews, Maddow and Olbermann either.
Too bad Gramps was "collapsed by the community". His comment seemed OK to me.
It figures the penquin is back. Does this old man ever shut up? He just freaks me out watching him talk. I just wish he'd go away, he never says anything worth listening to. Ya think he would have learned his lesson while he was in office. Scary old man.
A bunch of stuff restored. Don't report based on disagreement, folks.
Liberals, Go straight to Hell. I'm done.
You should be, because how could you have discussion after grenade-trolling like that, Mike-501780? Do better.
Of course Gramps may have Alzheimer's and needs to be placed in a nursing home so I will try not to be too rough on him and his little left wing socialist mindset.
Eom Reinseub, you're suspended for a day. Quit violating the first rule here:

Hey Kappi,
My man is your man too @!$%#..don't you live in this country too? Say what you will at least Obama is not stupid enough to say that the war was only going to last 6 months..stupid Bush..read a freakin history book, since when does a war in the middle east last 6 months.
Kappi..read a book - "America, love it or leave it" and then get your ass on a boat, hear Iraq is nice an warm and full of jerks like you.
Hey Gramps - you have been duped by the Wizard of Oz and his merry band of Mao quoting Liberal/Progressive who want to use the point of the gun to make radical changes to our way of life. Or maybe you are one, hmmm!
The Wizard was given the plans for the Afghan war but he did not want that to be known. He dithers because he is afraid of offending his other left wing friends whom he needs in his losing battle regarding the ill conceived healthcare plan which if passed will bankrupt this Republic. So my little biddy he is stalling for time because he knows his fellow playmates from the Land of Oz will throw the Chairman Mao little Red Book at him if he send the troops.
So it does not matter that our troops are fighting with the strength they have on the ground now, but could bringing war to a swift end with 40,000 troops. But what do the Generals know; after all they are not the great and wonderful Oz, the all mighty, omnipotent, delusional, fabricator of whole cloth, and street organizer extraordinary. Let us further the illusion that his the second coming of Christ her to save us from ourselves because he has so much experience and knowledge, how did we ever survive without him Oh my? Just remember “he is just getting started” yeah sure I like to see how much it has cost the American taxpayers with all of flights – oh and who was on Air force One when it cause a panic in New York a few months back – would care to guess his major contributors – nah! He has a transparent Administration – and it is become more so every day – I wonder how Chairman Mao would feel about his.
Quit dithering on Afghanistan, the "destroyer of empires?'
Alexander the Great, the Persians, the British (twice), and the Russians have all failed to take that country.
What makes Dearth Cheney think that we can? Plus what's the point? Al Queda is millions of miles away.
I see that Dick is still trying to run the country even though he is no longer VP.
Crawl back into your hole.
WRONG! The only reason cheney wants to increase war investments is so that his buddies can continue making more American tax dollars. We do not belong there or in Iraq. Pull out NOW! These wars are not of necessity but instead made for funds diversions.
There are at least five permanent military bases in Iraq. We are never leaving.
With all due contempt former President Cheney, your dithering diatribe is as worthless as farting in a hurricane. The reasons that you should be ignored are:
1. You are a cowardly contemptible draft dodging POS.
2. You are a war criminal and your ass should be rotting in prison.
3. You are a war-profiteer and a thief. Your ass should be rotting in prison for the billions that your defense contractor buddies stole from the American taxpayers.
Have a nice day in hell Dick! Say hello to dead senile former President Reagan for me.
anyone who allows the fundamentalist fringes of society to take control over our foreign policy is a war criminal regardless of party alliliation. neo-cons, teabagger and all.
Liz Cheney will run for congressional office in 2010. By the time 2012 rolls around, she will be ready to run against Obama. I'm thinking Cheney/Palin 2012 is going to be a hell of a ticket to beat.
Cheney has every right to an opinion on the war(s) -- after all, he started them.
When will this country ever be free of this hypocrite? This clown & his puppet Bush dithered for 8 long years. If the Bush debacle had been competent we would have got Ben Laden and been out of that stinking rat hole 8 years ago.
Who cares what this incompetent, arrogant, CEO of a failed and corrupt foreign policy says. Why after eight years of his involvement in Afghanistan are we even discussing his views ?
So liberals want it both ways (again), blame their numerous failures on the "last 8 years"...
And, once again, Bush/Cheney did nothing wrong, while everything Obama does is wrong!
Wait, stop posting: Glenn Beck is on!
Adding another bunch of troops is just cannon fodder as they were in Viet Nam. Better get the helicopters ready to evacuate the survivors from Kabul as you did in Viet Nam.
I'm sorry, But why didn't Bush/Cheney do this while they had the chance? This is not a John Wayne movie. This is real life, and real life leaders have to consider the consequences of their decisions. It is so much easier to heckle from the side lines. Seems like that's all Republicans know how to do anymore. This is not a comedy show. We do not need hecklers! We need people who are going to DO something. I agree with the congressman from Florida, Lead or get out of the way. Standing in the way screaming hysterically accomplishes nothing. JEEZ!
Dum post JAKE!!! If you want me to sit and explain to that family the deal...I WILL!! Their kids are there because of YOUR PAL DICK the "DESTROYER" an evil doer who didn't give a rip about their kids or anyone elses!!! Bush took MONTHS to decide on the doggone surge, and I bet you sat "SAFE" behind your computer and searched social networking sites. WTF would you say if Obama had agreed to send 40K troops within a WEEK, without talking to all involved!!?!?! unlike your boy Geroge who famously said he was the "DECIDER" and plunged OUR country into some craphole!!! I view comments such as yours as one sided and silly. It's SOOO flippn easy to attack Obama for taking time to ensure his approach is right, and forget WHY HE IS taking time to think things through. You and your type, always want to paint someone as weak, and allow crooks like DICK and GEORGE to run amoke and put our country in the S*IT HOLE it is in. JAKE, your post SUCKED!!!
LOL! Make sure you have enough TP before going in! Gramps has a way of smearing itself around and stinking up the place later when its the last thing you need :)
ABO. Love your Chenney/Palin 2012 comment. Liz Chenney and Sarah Palin are comparable twits.
Palin will make a better VP than Joe "doh!" Biden lol. Every time that guy opens his mouth it feels like Christmas!!
When they get elected, you guys will be able to relate to how horrified the rest of us are with the current pick.
Liz Cheney/Sarah Palin 2012
Let's revisit this page in June. Neither gal can get nominated. They don't need a circus running, they need moderate republicans like Colin Powell, Chuck Hagel, somebody with more brains than mouth.
hey Frank...is your king a "war" criminal for ordering the murder of 3 Somali teenagers out there on the ocean?...hmmm...probably so
Chances are this is from one of those clowns who was screaming for Obama to do something while that ship's captain was held hostage. Hypocrite, with a capital "H"...
Palin will make a better VP than Joe "doh!" Biden lol. Every time that guy opens his mouth it feels like Christmas!!
When they get elected, you guys will be able to relate to how horrified the rest of us are with the current pick.
Liz Cheney/Sarah Palin 2012
If that happens, all those "end of the world" in 2012 scenarios will come completely true!
"Obama administration seems to be pulling back and blaming others for its own failure to implement the strategy it had embraced earlier in the year."
This statement applies to everything Obama has been doing except handing out trillions in funds for friends (TARP and STIMULUS) and collecting contributions.
Jobs? Afghanistan? Not worth Obama's efforts. That beautiful cash is though.
Excuse me but TARP was passed by the last administration. After 8 years in Afghanistn, just months short of Viet Nam, what's left to win? Condi stated in '02 that Al Qaeda & the Taliban had been wiped out. Really? Much like mission accomplished in Iraq more tham 5 years ago.
I wonder how long its going to take America to realize Obama and Bush have the same policies.
If they had the same policies, Republicans would be backing President Obama, like they did w/ Bush. They want us to forget they supported Bush's failed policies.
Gramps Obama/Nixon looking about the same right now. Im starting to see alot of No OB in 2012 in Libreal California
jake, hallucinating again? Wasn't OB written on that campaign worker's cheek because she carved it while looking into a mirror?
No gramps when you start seeing bumper stickers in good old libreal California saying NO OB 2012 it speaks alot.
Correct me if I'm wrong (I'm sure you will) but hasn't Afganistan gotten' worse in the last 9 months and not better? haven't we lost more lives?!
Gramps,
It is clueless people like you that Obama counts on to get re-elected. Bush presented the first TARP but virtually all Republicans tried to block it while all the Dems, including Obama, were for it. So know what you're talking about before making ridiculous comments. The DEMOCRATS are the reason TARP was passed.
TARP?? money to the banks? hasn't or isn't that being re-paid to the taxpayer with interest??!! but not with any of the bailouts that followed?!
Wasn't it McCain who falsely said he was suspending his campaign & wanted to cancel the debate to get TARP passed? I really wish you would do your homework before ranting!!! You Lie!!!
Gramps you need to read more, TARP was passed under Bush yes , but Obama seized 1/2 of the money when he took office , so now it is Obama's baby !!!
Obama could repeal it , but instead he continues the Policy , which , makes it his own !!!!
Guys like you Gramps , need to read first , educate themselves on the issues , and then speak , until they , you just make yourself look like an uneducated liberal koolaid drinking drone.
And that is exactly why McCain lost the election. Besides, I wouldn't exactly put McCain in the camp of fiscal conservatives. You can point to one person here or one person there...but the bottom line is that the overwhelming majority of Dems, INCLUDING OBAMA, were for it and the majority of Repubs were against it. Why can't you defend what your party did instead of pointing fingers at everyone else?
Gramps,
I agree that Cheney needs to crawl back under his rock. He and his puppet sucked this country dry. Now he's back trying to squeeze out of few more drops with the help of his minions.
BTW, thanks for your service to our country, Gramps!
You would have to have two spirochaetes holding hands in your skull to appreciate any of this blabber........
Madison <<<<<< I'm guessing you missed the fact that Obama has increased troop strength from 26,000 to to over 40,000 already and that just before McChrystal's plan became public that he had already authorized another 13,000 troops on top of that.
I guess you missed the news that there is now at least a tentative agreement in place to hold any Iranian ambitions in check.
I guess you missed the fact that the job loss rate went from 750K per month during the final months of the last administration to less than 250K this past month.
So you were sleeping when it announced yesterday that unemployment fell last month in 19 states.
You missed the news that in Elkhart Indiana one of the economically hardest hit areas of the country the jobs are coming back.
By the way, what planet did you say you've been spending most of your time on?????
hi again, the last Congress approved & allocated the 2nd half of TARP.
Tarp came from the Bush administration. Of course, if you have a problem with the stock market's remarkable comeback from 1 year ago I can't help you there.
Gramps....McCain is not a Republican.
Gramps
hi again, the last Congress approved & allocated the 2nd half of TARP.
remind us all who has control of congress and has had control of congress since 2006?
I think you might find that to be the democrats.
Mav
"I wonder how long its going to take America to realize Obama and Bush have the same policies."
As an addendum, I wonder how long it will take America to realize that we have a two-headed, one-party system? If anyone seriously thinks that the republicans and democrats are real adversaries, you are truly deluded. There are very few true statesmen in Congress, and the best of them is Ron Paul. Nobody wants to hear the truth from him, though, because people don't think for themselves. They let people like O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, and Keith Olberman do their thinking for them.
America needs to wake up and realize who it is that really pulls the strings in this country. Hint: it's not the people you elect.
Schwann - "Advance" take over Afghanistan again and this time Pakistan. What did they do the last time? Try permitted Al-Queda to set up training camps.
What was the MO? One group would go to a town, attack it, and destroy property, and kill people, particularly the opposition. They made certain to destroy the schools. Then the Taliban in the white turbin would ride in build new schools and for the little price of taxes and submission to their own version of muslim law and leadership.
I wonder if that goes on anywhere else in the world in a different form. Something like that could be done politically rather than with blood.
If you're looking for clues as to how Obama will respond to the difficulties in Afghanistan you only need to review Iraq. Obama is simply not ready for prime time. Caught without his teleprompter Obama pulled a typical one of his blockbuster blunders in his interview on Iraq. Asked by the reporter: If now knowing that the "surge" has been a commendable success, would he still have opposed it had he had that foresight at the time of his vote "against" the surge. Obama's response was an immediate and emphatic "YES". Then in the very next breath, realizing that he had made a classical Obama blunder, he began to babble incoherently while trying to mentally formulate a plausible explanation; and, finally resorted to the politicians last-ditch maneuver by stating: "That's a hypothetical; and, I don't deal in hypotheticals." Too late Obama you're true motivations were already exposed. In other words Obama inadvertently had admitted that he was invested in an American defeat in Iraq; and, would have willingly ceded this critically vital, oil rich, Nation to al-Qaeda and regional hegemony to an exceedingly dangerous Iran who he has previously said "represents no threat to America". So while visiting U.S. troops as Commander-In-Chief, Obama has previously admitted that in preference to victory, he would have preferred a precipitous withdrawal and ignominious defeat of the U.S. military to bolster his Jeremiah Wright instructional: "America is the greatest evil in the world" leftist agenda. This man is an virtual imbecile who is totally without the capacity to speak intelligently on issues on which he has not been previously programmed by his puppet masters. Hopefully Americans will not long be duped by such a charlatan. Obama's long-term subversive associations, and his immersion in seditious anti-American diatribe have indeed revealed Obama as the real-life Manchurian Candidate who should not have been allowed anywhere near the Oval Office. Greg Neubeck
Dick (the coward) Cheney just needs to shut his mouth. He's a clown with no clothes, fearless warrior, as long as he didn't have to serve, and didn't. He's real quick to send others into harms way as long as his sorry kiester is down in the bunker and safly out of any form of danger. Three cheers for Gutless Cheney!!!!
Ron in colarado
You obviously are behind the times. Yes the rate of decline in employment ahas slowed but we have hit a plateau in the reccession. In the money section today is an article about the unexpected increase of unemployment benefit applications for last month. Yes Obama sent in more troops, but he also commisioned McChrystal to give an honest evaluation and recomendation of a plan to accomplish the goals that Obama set. Now when Obama gets the bill for it all he balks at the price tag. He is either committed to do something or he is not. His indecision is costing us lives on the battlefield and jobs at home. His preoccupation with changing healthcare 5 years from now is only a ploy that he can point to and say, Hey look, I passed health care reform, i got us out of Iraq,(which by then will say nothing of the fact that Bush's administration negotiated that treaty.), and i closed Gitmo like I said I would. He only cares about re-election and not a wit for the people that elected him.
popeyethesailor:
Obama is any better? Wow, has he put his Presidential Seal in his mouth too much!
I give both administrations failing grades on Afghanistan. Bush for taking his eyes off the creeps responsible for 9/11 and Obama campaigning that Bush had ignored Afghanistan and then doing the same thing himself. As for Dick, doesn't he have better things to do, like count his money?
Does Cheney speaking out on this stuff ever sound like that kid in math class who kept trying to yell out the answer, and he never got it right to anyone else?
It is certainly true that Obama's vascillation and indecision is emboldening our enemies and making our allies, in and out of Afghanistan, wonder about the wisdom of supporting the United States.
"Amateur Night" at the White House is getting embarrassing,
i got us out of Iraq,(which by then will say nothing of the fact that Bush's administration negotiated that treaty.)
archangel 3:16-
Obama was the one that met with Maliki- not Bush. It was Obama's withdrawal plan that Maliki agreed to on July 19, 2008.
The Bush Admin negotiated nothing- it was a matter of taking the credit later that same day.
If they gave a Nobel Prize for butt kicking Cheney would win hands down, it about time someone stood up and said what’s on my mind and other that think like Cheney. Obama could have made the decision a month ago, right now he needs the far left, that do not want him to send more troops for a final vote on health care. So Obama is playing with the lives of our servicemen in Afghanistan so not too piss off the far left in congress, that hold the outcome of health care in their vote you watch December he will have not made a decision if health care has not been voted on.
MMMMM MMMMM MMMMM Barrack Insane Obama.
LOL!
Blithering idiots, dithering followers of the Bushwacher/Selfserver-cheney(he picks himself) movement... the cliff is ready an we have seen the abiss you all left for our great great great grandchildren....now shut up an go take you medicine
Loosers don't get to write history, and if they do no one cares
the TARP vote;
Amazing, Cheney, blaming someone else of "dithering" in war, absolutely amazing, since this man spent 7 years dithering and left the place in worse shape than he found it, did they get bin Laden, odd how he got out of Iraq with all the WMD's with no one seeing him do so, now thats shock and awe
Odd how the man who privatized much of the military so that private contractors could be paid more in a month than our soldiers make in a year and dithered around in Afghanistan for 7 years is blaming others for what he couldn't finish, and profited greatly from
seems they have a habit of doing that, blaming others for their failures
Seriously? Cheney? Yeah...because he did such a great job with Iraq, that we should all be looking to him for advise on how to handle the war in Afghanistan. Why don't we call Donald Rumsfeld and get his advice too?
Gramps seems so grumpy. Doesn't want poor Mr. Obama to have to make any decisions or take credit for his 8 months in office.
TARP - Everybody that voted on and didn't veto is responsible for that. Democratic Congress, President Bush, Senators McCain and Obama included. It kind of worked, but sure wasn't implemented very well.
Stimulus - All on Obama. Typical Chicago style payoff for his cronies. I'm from there. It's not that amazing. It's also not stimulating anyone but the current administration's special interests.
Afganistan - I think it's safe to say that wars change over time. They're dynamic. The Bush administration did well to evict and contain the Taliban in Afganistan. OSM became irrelevant. Al Qaeda ran to the Pakistan hills and into Iraq. They're not in Iraq anymore and seem to have returned to the Pakistan border and Afganistan. Not really cut and dry is it Gramps.
Obama DOES need to make a decision. One suggestion is sending in more troops. Another option is to pull out and contain. I'm not in favor of handing Al Qaeda a victory though. It comes with consequences that don't make us safer. Al Qaeda has been fighting the US for much longer than 7 years. It's somewhat short sighted to believe we won't have a conflict with them by simply pulling out of Afganistan. Maybe naive too. We will have to confront them. Rather than name call and yell, let's hear an actual strategy.
DSvet when was Obama in Iraq? I'm fairly certain it wasn't in July 2008. How do I know that? Because I was there (OIF 08-09). All the information I know that I can discuss is that the Bush administration working with the Maliki administration came up with the withdrawal timeline. How would a Presidential candidate possibly be able to spare the time during a tooth and nails election campaign to come up with an agreement of this magnitude?
Fred-
Obama was touring the Middle East in July of 2008. A web search will tell you what happened on that day. Maliki agreed with Obama's withdrawal timetable.
Up until that day, Bush refused to agree to any withdrawal timetable. After Maliki agreed with Obama's plan, Bush contacted him by phone later that same day and suddenly agreed to a withdrawal timetable.
It's all in the news reports on that day.
It's funny, but I like to compare our society to my family. I have a family who never sees anything as her fault. If she's caught in the middle of the chaos, it's always someone else's fault. I'm thinking she must be a Republican. No matter what they're standing in, the other guy did it. Grow up. Take responsibility for your actions. Then maybe you can have a seat at the grownup's table again.
The liberals have been in charge of congress now for three years. For the last year, they have had a supermajority and still want to blame the republicans, who have been completely marginalized. This is all you guys.
"Do what it takes to win".....from the guy who couldn't "Do what it takes to win" after 7 (SEVEN) years of trying?.....
I think its a matter of a "wanna be leader actually having to make a decision" either take them ALL out of give them the resources they need.
Half the troops are still looking for WMD's....
Dragon please enlist since you think its a game.
Already served from 1983-1991. And you?
Dragon where did you serve? Memphis? I haven't read much from you that makes any difference in anything. Sorry, you're a waste of our time here.
No, my unit was attached to the Big Red One out of Fourt Riley. Where were you stationed Mike?
Mike?.....Jake?......Where did all the vets go?
And what did you do Dragon supply janitoral here?
No, I was an Armor crewman. Back then it was M60A3's, 19E.
So what did you do in the military, Jake?
(awkward silence....)
Jake J, Iraq was a game to Bush/cheney. They went in for the money they could make by putting their own businesses in as subcontractors. They lied. To Congress and the American people. The terrorists are in Afghanistan, always have been. Now an intelligent, thinking president is going to look at all of the options and make the best decision for the troops, and the country. I truly hope there is an in depth investigation of every decision made by Cheney, Bush was nothing more than Cheneys' control mechanism.
And Jake, if you were really a veteran you would respect the other vets on this board. You are being a jerk to Dragon because his opinion differs from yours? Flagged as inflamatory.
do what it takes to win , yes ! and he is correct , while Obama sits on his hands and waits to make any kind of decision , our boys die !!!!
All of the deaths from jan 2009 are on Obamas hands !
Obama "I WILL BRING THE BOYS HOME IN 6 MONTHS AFTER I AM ELECTED"
It's been 9 buddy , why are we still there ?
Just another lie in a long line of lies from Obama !!!!
By the way, it is spelled rhetoric.....
Its actually pretty funny in a sick way. Libreals are against war but its okay for Obama to sit on it awhile American kids get killed because they do not have the support needed. And they yell about freedom of speech but if you disagree with THEIR point it should be erased. Kind of hypocritical isn't it.
I never said you should be erased....(I just asked who your favorite driver was...)
Exactly JAKE J:
Obama made the decision to go into Afghanistan, PERIOD! As he sits and ponders what to do next....we are filling body-bags with our Military men and women. Either get in there and get the job done or GET OUT. What is the matter with all you bloggers? Don't you know anyone who has a son or daughter in the Military? Who cares about Cheney's opinion or Obama's political career? What about the vulnerable troops in Afghanistan? Letting our Military people die from inaction after sending them over there is treason. Disgusting!
Obama didn't decide to go into Afghanistan, Shrub did. Shrub filled more body bags than Obama. Is your history a little fuzzy?
From most of the posts here from people who all of a sudden after 7 years think Afghanastan is the most important spot on earth it is obvious they don't have a clue as to what is going on there. Of course, neither did Cheney-Bush and that is why we are stuck paying for their mistakes in American lives and billions of dollars.
Did Obama have a political career? Chris is right, we need to send help or get out!
From most of the posts here from people who all of a sudden after 7 years think Afghanastan is the most important spot on earth it is obvious they don't have a clue as to what is going on there. excactly Jamey! your keywords here are people who all of a sudden!!
I never agree with good ole dick I think he's the devil but he's right on this one (ugre wanting to vomit) I think we should hit it hard with everything we got all the manpower we can send not just 40k but everything we have or get out and if we get out we need to boost our nation national security with what we save because you can bet we will be hit again. I not a extreme obama lover but I think he's doing a good job not a great job but good for what he has on his plate. But this was one of the reason I voted for him he said he was going to hit afghanistan hard. What he does here will make my mind out if I vote for him in 2012 unless he magically fixs health care, the economy, and welfare reform by then. Which I never thought he would unlike some people who think in 9 months ever thing should be fixed.
"Obama "I WILL BRING THE BOYS HOME IN 6 MONTHS AFTER I AM ELECTED"
It's been 9 buddy , why are we still there ?"
As I suspected, another lie posted on the Internet. Most things on blogs and forums are lies. Not only did the President make NO such promise, the neo-cons really seem to expect miracles from him after 9 months:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29144801
From February 2009, "No campaign pledges on entitlements, Afghan exit and judicial nominees"
Obama reiterated that all of our troops will be out of IRAQ by August 2010. Let's see if he sticks with that. He said Afghanistan is a war of necessity, and he made no promises as to how he would proceed with that. Evil Overlord Cheney confuses "thinking" with "indecision".
Neo-Cons like to compare their disrespect for Obama, to the nation's treatment of Bush. OK...we all gave Bush at least 4 years to do what he said he would do, regardless of who we voted for. Let's all give the President more than 9 months to work miracles.
Even 4 months into his presidency, the crazies were shrieking for impeachment. Does that NOT seem insane to someone?
Exactly JAKE J:
Obama made the decision to go into Afghanistan, PERIOD!
Um, not even @!$%#ing close....
We've been there for 8+ years and Bush/Cheney did NOTHING during those 8 years. Suddenly NOW afghanistan is a big issue that needs to be rushed according to Dick "I ignored Afghanistan for 8 years" cheney...
Give me a break!
Jake-I have a nephew who is on the docket for shipping out there, and believe me; I would rather take a long look at the goals and what the generals are doing before I send one other young man to battle. The president's deliberation isn't the cause of these unwanted deaths - much ownership also goes to the generals - the mighty military machine always wants more.
Jake if you were a vet you should show some respect for vets...

I don't need a history lesson, quit jabbering about how they got there. They either get help or GET OUT of there! Why do you or anyone else care who put them there, and just how productive is that conversation?
Meaningless conversation and insults! Solve the problem!
Reading many of these posts it occurs to me why nothing gets solved.
I mean if you have a fire burning in your house do you spend time questioning how the fire started or get everyone out safely, put the flames out and THEN concern yourself with the how and why! GEEZ
Would somebody please put a sock in Cheney's mouth.
Dithering?
Yeah, I don't think a guy who pulled for an unnecessary, second war with Iraq when the Taliban was essentially routed, battered, and on the run in the wake of 9/11 has the right to accuse anyone of dithering.
The fact of the matter is that Cheney/Bush had a golden, once in a lifetime opportunity to finish off the Taliban once and for all and what did they do?
They completely diverted all their focus and attention to an unnecessarily and in retrospect, useless war - and then Cheney has the NERVE to complain about the other guy who has to clean up his unfinished messed? The shamelessness of Cheney is staggering - as is conservatives evident refusal to admit just how badly the Bush administration neglected Afghanistan, but of course, its not the fault of the guys who were the president/vice-president for the past eight years, its the fault of the guy who has been president for the past 9 months...
The problem is that he should have thought about this before sending in 40k more troops to begin with. All that did was stir the pot. Now that he has begun a commitment he needs to finish it instead of letting troops get killed. For those of you out there that are not seeing what is happenning there think about this, if Al Queda and the taliban are busy fighting soldiers in Afghanistan, they aren't killing civilians here. If we hit them with all out commitment with every force we can muster and iradicate them for now, it will be years before they become a threat again. Yes Bush was alright with leaving the Taliban to ruling Afghanistan if they gave up Al Queda to us, and he was right to do so. We weren't interested in destabalizing Afghanistan, or nation building there. We only concerned with bringing down the organization that killed American civilians on our own soil. When the Taliban refused and embraced the terrorists it maqde them just as responsible for 9/11 as Osama Bin laden.

Meaningless conversation and insults! Solve the problem!
You mean like republicans with health care?
Dragonwagon5 (and Schwannonin) -- right on!
Dragon:
Half the troops want to come home. Can Obama make this decision?
I guess the kid wasn't old enough to fake a vote.
This dithering blowhard doesn't yet fully understand that his opinions/recommendations have NO value to anyone. His experience is identical. He can wear his tux and his bow tie and speak quietly into the microphone, but his words fall on absolutely deaf ears.
The reason is that he has NO credibility about anything.
He had his chance to do good by doing well. He elected to violate his oath of office, violate the Constitution and violate the trust placed in him (and his meaningless minion Bush) by the American voters.
He has no memory...ours is long.
you talking about Obama or Chenny sounds like both.
No politician says anything worth listening to. We don't need politicians, we need leadership. There is a difference.
I know this will piss off a lot of people, but when was the last time what Obama said did anything to better your life?
Exactly Mike.
Cheney is back...to spew his hatred. We gave this turd (Cheney) the power and funds to destroy our country as he manipulated his puppet's strings for 8 years. Now crawl back under your rock and SHUT UP!
I would rather have the Obama administration "dither" a while, and weigh all the options rather than go charging in and making mistakes like Cheney and crew. As I remember, their track record wasn't the greatest on the war, economy and the list goes on and on.
Obama has not followed through with anything he has started...he's made it possible for the divide of the rich and poor to expand, the monopoly of large corporations, the proliferation of a Socialistic agenda....the list is long and there is more fallout to come. Hold onto your hats folks. We still have not heard about the fallout of commercial debt/lending (trillions), credit card losses, Military spending, bailout losses to come, more lending to those who cannot afford to buy, etc...Wait and see? The Military spending is the tip of the iceberg!
Obama, Murtha, Reid, Kerry. TRAITORS, DESERTERS, COWARDS. ARREST THEM!
Wow, Steve. That's productive. Years ago George Carlin called for Death for Parking Violations! Makes as much sense. Killing these 4 men will not solve the problem caused by Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rumsfeld, and their cheerleader Limbaugh. Thinking people consider options. They don't call for bringin' em back "Dead or Alive". And yes, Bush did just that. "Bring em on!"
I'm not seeing anywhere I called for anyone killing anyone. Perhaps you're having trouble with single sentences?
I wonder how many Dick lovers will post today?
or how many lovers of Dick...tator Obama!
The last administration was closer to a dictatorship than this administration or any prior ones. Bush/Cheney wanted to play war but when they had their chance to go to war, (Viet Nam),, they avoided it!!!!
There's one!
or how many lovers of Obama's D!ck
Oh, there's two!
divert much?
Dragonwagon5; I don't usually comment on shady comments but in this case , YOU NAILED IT ON THE HEAD!!!
And Obama isn't a dictator?
Dale,
Every time I do, my comments get collapsed by the comunity.....(Apparently someone doesn't want to hear it....)
DragonWagon5; That's their motto just say NO!! unless its Dick and then they say yes yes!!! I will probable join you in the collapsed column!!! thats the only power they have now!!!
If loving Dick is wrong, they don't want to be right....
And Obama isn't a dictator?
not even close. Why would any sane person even think that?!?
Dragonwagon...I want to thank you for your service and opinions. I am a Veteran and I also was a role player Iraqi Civilian on the Battlefield at Fort Riley. I tried hard to play my part the best I could even learning as much of the language and customs that I could. I think very highly of our soldiers.
Years ago I was a photographer for the Army ROTC summer camp at Fort Riley. Dick Cheney came to Fort Riley and I shot wonderful photos of him. I got a little note of appreciation for a job well done. I remember telling my brother at the time that I thought Dick Cheney had no love lost for Fort Riley or the First Infantry Division.
Dick Cheney is an American and he has the right to his opinions. I myself think he was the person pulling the strings while President Bush vacationed. He certainly made plenty of money for himself and his friends. I think that he broke the law and should be brought up on charges. He is a very arrogant man and will unfortunately open his mouth at every opportunity. The only problem with that is there are too many stupid people out there that believe his lies. Vice President Cheney is a stain on the United States Constitution and way of life that unfortunately will not go away.
Dw5 and Jeff while I appreciate your service if you've never served in combat then how much knowledge do you really have of it? I agree that Iraq diverted our attention from Afghanistan but Saddam had 12 years to comply with agreements he signed to stop our a$$ kicking in '91 and failed completely. I'll always believe there's some trickery involving Syria and the WMD's but short of invading them we'll never find out the truth. As for Afghanistan the fact Dick criticizes Obama when there are 21,000 more troops assigned there than when "W" and he left says a lot. I hope the President expedites making a decision and that it is to listen to his Generals, but I'll give him a little more time. After all, Dick and "W" ignored it for almost six years!!
How ironic that Fred should bring up combat service on a story about 5 deferment Cheney.
Dragonwagon
When you were in the military, did the thought of being deployed ever enter your mind! I notice you left in 1991, Did you deploy to Iraq at that time? If so weren't you glad that they gave the military the resources to do the job in the right way? Or did you bail when your enlistment was up because you new you were going to have to go to war? 8 years in the military is no big accomplishment during peace time. As a matter of fact it is a pretty good life for someone who doesn't mind the ticky tacky BS of the chain of command. I would respect your opinions more if you had enlisted in '91 and ledt after 4 years because you disagreed with what was going on. There are many veterans who did that. There are many who served in Viet Nam who came back and protested the war as well and I have every respect for them. But just because you were in doesn't give you bragging rights to slam everyone who doesn't agree with you.
DW5
Just because a person hadn't served doesn't mean he doesn't know what he is talking about. I suppose that you have a degree in international relations, or an economics degree that would qualify you as an expert. I suppose that serving in Kansas gave you access to the intelegence information that drove the White House decisions that lead up to all of this mess. If you wish to debate the issues here then do some research and stop name calling.
Archangel: The problem with requiring a degree or sufficient experience to voice an opinion is that most Americans have neither. Do you? I'm just saying this because I do not have military experience, and my degree is in English. Neither of these gives me the education you require for me to voice my opinion. Well, I hate to ruin your day, but that's the joy of being an American. I don't have to experience something to have an opinion on a situation. No, I've not been in our military, but my father was in the Pacific Theatre at the end of WWII and he was in Nagasaki and Hiroshima immediately after the surrender. He was in Guam prior to that and he was part of the Last Bombing Mission over Tokyo. I am very proud of his service. My brother is a Vietnam Veteran. He was there Jan 70-Mar71. He still won't talk about his experience. He served for 21 years and now works in a VA hospital taking care of our servicemen. Now, my son is a soldier. He spent his first deployment in S. Korea within 10 miles of the DMZ. After 14 months there, he spent 8 months in Savannah and deployed to Iraq for 11 months. Now, he's headed to Afghanistan for 15 months. Do you think I have the right to an opinion? Frankly, I'm tired of people thinking that only certain people can have an answer or opinion. Did FDR have military experience? No. But, he knew how to lead us into a war we had to win. Get over everyone needing to be ex-soldiers to be president. The only countries I know of where it's required are countries led by dictators and the military. Is this your idea of America?
Obama needs to stop waffling in this decision...either pull out and let the next real President deal with these terrorists...or go in there and get the job done....tell me why does America have all these hight tech weapons and we don't use them?....you can not fight a war with rules when the enemy does not follow any rules they are Animals....they do not care if there are civilians in the way they don't care if there is a mosque in the way, they don't care......got that.......so why should we??????....we will NEVER win this thing if we continue to follow all these idiotic rules........so then just get out...why send our guys to the slaughter to protect people who hate us and have no loyality to any government.............If Obama continues with this war...the way he has been running it...I hope he gets some heavy duty sleeping pills cause he will not be able to sleep at night knowing that he has sent thousands of young Americans to their slaughter.....or maybe thats what he wants....hmmmmmm
My, my. He listened to Gen McChrystal & is also conferring w/ other generals & intelligence officials. After the last administration did little for 8 years, you expect a rush to judgment now? He sure doesn't want us bogged down there for another 8 years w/ nothing to show for it but dead & wounded Americans!!!
"My, my. He listened to Gen McChrystal & is also conferring w/ other generals & intelligence officials."
Oh, BS, he is conferring with Emanuel and Axelrod on what to do because of his Liberal base in his party, and what will win the most votes for them in the coming elections. He is playing the same game we played in Vietnam while our troops are dieing on the ground. He will get around to dealing with this one day, maybe after a few more fund raiser from banks he bailed out.
It's hard to win a war when half our troops are still looking for WMD's....
Just another sheep? The moniker seems to fit you perfectly. Keep following the shepherds that led you to where we are today.
Obama can take responsibility for those 8 men that just was killed. Every military personel has said it should NEVER had happened if they had the support staff requested.Obama can take full responsibility for it.
Dragonwagon5: it looks like Bennie is posting multable times !!! "WE HAVE A WINNER"
....those 8 men that just was killed.
LOL! "Is our children learning?"
So Jake, who's your favorite driver?
jake, the more troops that are on the ground, the more that will be killed. Why weren't you calling for more support troops for the last 8 years? The Afghanistan war in just months short of the Nam war & little has been accomplished.
Lord Gramps for someone that was in the military you do not appear to understand statigics. And if you look at my post OB better make a decision soon.Either take them all out or send them help.
Who in hell is OB?
In my opinion, since the current POTUS and staff were briefed and then agreed to continue the same focus and programs in afghanistan as the former POTUS,it seems to me they are equally inept.Sadly,Obama and Co. are not mentioning how they requested that his taking this plan of action from Bush& Co. was kept a secret from the general public. Sadly we focus on the blame game rather than our soldiers in the field!
Good post Chilie
who cares what Dick Cheney has to say? Really, the man will go down in history as 'war criminal'. He is just mad that he will NEVER carry the title of President of the United States.
It didn't take long for President Obama to realize the failed strategy in Afghanistan by Bush/Cheney was the wrong strategy. He's now correcting it rather than making a rash decision like the one that has accomplished little there in the last 8 years.
So the solution is to kill terrorists... terrible idea. Terrorism doesn't stem from a particular place or country. Just like any creed it stems from an idea; an idea that says kill for the sake of killing. I'm curious as to how it's justifiable to kill people who believe killing is ok to prove that killing is wrong.
Bush and Cheney sent our servicemen and women to die for nothing. Obama is right to weigh every decision about what to do. The previous administration failed to do so and as a result we have chaos. We should be spreading democracy through education, not bombs. The second that first bomb was dropped, we became "them."
"Behind this mask is more than flesh; there is an idea, and ideas, Mr. Creedy, are bulletproof." V for Vendetta
"Your the stupid idiot......"
It's "you're". I just note it, since you then call someone an idiot.
"you send a General in there to tell you what you need to complete your strategy and then you snub him....way to be Presidential............"
If we wanted a President to be a puppet for the military, we would have gotten another Bush, or McCain. Obama is the President. During the Civil War, Lincoln didn't always do what the Union Generals advised either.
And if Obama had blindly obeyed the General, you would be calling him a puppet, so there's no winning with the haters.
The military leaders' goals are sometimes different from what's in the country's best interest. We had a warmonger for 8 years; let's take the time to consider before putting more young Americans in danger.
Beanne, Talk is talk and your's is stupid. Have you ever serviced your country? Hasty makes waste and damn if we have not wasted a lot of young lives because Bush let that idiot Dick Cheney call the shots. Bush was not knowledable about defense and he didn't listen to Colin Powell, when he told him what the conseqences would be for invading Iraq. We could have finished off Alfghanistan, or at least be further alone in our war efforts; instead we are caught up in a damn if you do, damn if you don't situation with 71% Americans wanting pull out and 29% saying stay . We can not abandon our troops, we have to get everybody out first, so if we have to send in fresh troops we have to do it. I serviced my country, so I know, it's easy for stupid people to say, just "@!$%#", or get off the pot but this damn pot is glued to our buttock. I'm all for leaving Afghanistan and Iraq but I don't want the terrorist coming over here; when we pack up, and move out hastily, that denotes fear, and we are on the run. Terrorists are not crazy and they hate us, so before Obama and his administration makes any decisions they have to think of the consequences to the American people. Some people speak with real concern for the lives of our young, others speak with hate because of Obama's race, damn that $hit, we are all in this together. God forbade that we should ever have foreign conquerors on our soil, they would not discriminate as to our different colors, to them we are all Americans. We all need to get pass this stupidity of hate, because a man is of a different color; hell, judge him on his character, color is secondary. I liked Bush and I like Obama, color has nothing to do with it, but I detest Cheney, not because of color, but because he's a stupid, arrogant, conniving, deceitful, dishonest, Bastard. Cheney ruined Bush's presidency with his insane advice, so there is no way Obama should listen to anything he says. Dick Cheney should go home, shut his mouth and climb back into his "Rat Hole" with my blessings.
Obamas instincts for making the correct decision are horrendous. He's batting around .075 right now. I'd rather he dither on this most important of decisions than go with his instincts. Gives me hope that he might be persuaded to make the right one.
Kind of reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where George decides he's going to do the complete opposite of what his instincts are. Hopefully Obama is a closet fan of Costanza!
Oh Pleezze spare me your so full of it.
Once again Dw5 unless you've been boots on the ground in combat I'll reserve the right to give your opinion little value. As for some of the other comments here's mine: It's hard to win a war when the overwhelming majority of current Democrats are bedwetting wusses who think that "peace, love and understanding" will work with cave men who have declared war on civilization. It doesn't matter if we leave, they'll stay at war with us.
gramps. mary r,
The point here is that if we are not committed then get out. If we are committed then put the full might and support of our country behind it. It doesn't take 9 months to decide that! The Lives of soldiers in the field should always be the president's highest priority. By dithering he is only destroying more soldiers and their families. While I personally think we should finish what we started there, I learned a valuable lesson from Viet Nam. You can't fight a war with political limitations, either commit to the objective or get out. It is not rocket science and it shouldn't take more than a couple of weeks to compile the information and figure that out.
You, stupid idiot !
Your the stupid idiot
You're both looking silly, youaresonaive and beanne.
Quit slapfighting.
Above all else, respect others. Address issues and arguments and refrain from making personal attacks. If you see something disrespectful or inappropriate, report it - rather than further inflaming the situation.
...
Oh, snap, it's iloveUHC-as-youaresonaive. Banned again, multiples. You did a pretty good job of not breaking the rules this time. Almost slipped through. That said, please stay gone.
The gnarly prick comes back yet again. And that sneer is precious. To the man who faked the wheelchair just to avoid standing in recognition at the inauguration. By all means folks lets hear it for Dick in 2012:(
He can't afford the pay cut!!
If the two choices are to win the war or get out, how does Torture King Dick Cheney explain away his own dismal failure?
If I had handed off a sucessor a budgetary nightmare like the Cheney (dubya?) Administration did to Obama, I think I would take pains to keem my trap shut.
Do we need more noise from this clown? He was a VP, for crimany sakes--he should hang up his "war lord" hat--Cheney was terrible at war. Win or get out? Shouldn't he have taken his own advice when he was throwing money away on a misdirected war mess? Anybody remember Donald Rumsfeld? Gimme a break!
If the Bush administrations objective was to bottle up Al Queda and make them in effective then they didn't fail. If the objective was to wipre them out then they were doomed from the start. Radical Muslim Jihad is an Ideal not a flesh and blood enemy.
not a cheney fan but the man has a point.the longer the president waits the more it looks like he doesn't know what he is doing.it has been two months, make up your mind one way or another.president obama got my vote, among other things,by promising to make Afghanistan a priority.he has yet to do this.i am starting to regret my vote.
I also was not a chenny fan but agree with you. This is turning into another Vietnam. Put the soliders out there on suicide missions with no support. I live in a military town and we are seeing alot of cars/trucks with No OB in 2012 stickers.
Ok, Bush/Cheney had eight years, I repeat, to take care of the Afghanistan issue. They chose, again I repeat, instead, to start a phony war in an oil rich country. Again, Dickhead Cheney has NO RIGHT to criticize the current administration for THINKING about the best way to clean up HIS nasty little mess.
salem,
any more right than the current administration to criticize the previous administration?or because you agree with president obama's views it is okay?either way you look at it,president obama needs to make a decision because fair or not,he appears to be weak in military affairs and decision making.
i find it ironic for people to criticize the bush administration continuously yet get their feathers ruffled any time criticizes the obama administration.once the obama administration started to blame bush and criticize his administration he opened himself up for equal criticism.perhaps we should stop the blame game and try to figure out how to put our country on the right track.dems and repubs.
Because, ShawnD19, this administration doesn't have the same built-up record as the previous administration, which was a clear failure times infinity. We've seen what Bush/Cheney has done to our foriegn policy. I think critics should wait until this administration has its own built-up record before they launch into a diatribe of its shortcomings, and not try to equate them as equal or heaven forbid, worse. That is ludricous.
I am sooooo sick and tired of hearing about OIL. WHERE THE F*** is it????? We have not gotten ONE DROP OF OIL FROM IRAQ. PLEASE stop with that horrific statement that we went there for OIL. ENOUGH already!!! Give it a break. Frankly I am glad that we have a democratic country now RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO IRAN. Do any of you know that we are in the process of lining up troops close to that theater NEAR IRAN?????? Not in IRAQ, but elsewhere in the ME IN CASE we have an Iranian issue????? LOTS of stuff ppl we DO NOT KNOW. It's all in the interest of protecting us. I DON'T CARE WHAT TACTICS they use, just keep us safe. Maybe you all need another tragedy in this country for you all to take it seriously how UNSAFE it really is all over.
See, Rose, what you are getting is half the message. The "liberal" media edited his comments, I think. What he really said was :
"The White House must stop dithering {and build me that damn road from the oil fields to Basra port.} while America's armed forces are in danger, {I need to get richer and richer at their expense.}" the former vice president said. "It's time for President Obama to do what it takes to win a war {iI started in hopes to line my pockets with untold ali-baba riches from the vast oil reserves} he has repeatedly and rightly called a war of necessity {while George and I insisted it was "all about the oil" Screw oppressive societies...dickie like oil.}
Now you see where all the oil is? It was another of the great fallacies of the previous admin. It's not like the oil was sitting there in tankards waiting to be relabeled and sold. There's no $ in that alone. The real $$$ is rebuilding those ancient wells and refineries and THEN fleecing it off on the world market. Imagine the pipelines he would have to build to get to Basra, and the hodling facilities and refineries. He'd never have to work a day again for the rest of his (hopefully short) life.
In the meantime, GI Joe gets poisoned water to shower with and crappy supply vehicles.
Stop dithering and convict Cheney for war crimes.
Dick Cheney and the rest of the Bush administration are a bunch of pompous butt wipes. They all need to prosecuted for war crimes and flushed back down to the sewer from which they slithered out of. The Bush administration is responsible for all the American and Afgan and Iraq lives lost. Obama, unfortunately, has to clean up their mess. It's the same ole politics as usual. When will neo-cons finally admit that they have completely screwed America for the 50 years (at least)?
Maestro
Post the address to your work place here so that an Al Queda cell knows where to drop the next plane. Your hatred of people who did what they could to keep you safe enough to post your poison is not flattering. Terrorists by far are greater war criminals then Bush and Chenney ever were or could have been. The only reason your screaming war crimes is that what they did actually worked and kept America safe. If it hadn't you'd be one of the people out there screaming for their blood because it didn't.
WOW, Record voting on Newsvine! And all Cheney had to do was open his greedy mouth!
...hmmmmmm
Bush/Cheney spent seven years waffling and left the place in worse condition then when they started, Bin Laden is still free, wonder why they didn't use those high tech tools, sleeping pills isn't something the last administration needed, they simply slept for eight years while wall street the banker's and oil barrens, bankrupted the entire country and most of the world.
oh wait, no that's right Obama did all that in 9 months by himself
please review things. Economy was in pretty good shape till about fall of 2007, which by then a Democratic congress was controlling purse strings.
And for lotabls who said : "Lotabis It took Bush 4 months to decide on the surge in Iraq. Why the hurry now........ dick?"
Also review things, it took democratic congress 4 months to approve the surge.
Definition of dithering which democrats are masters at: Sitting around with your finger up your butt reading poll numbers.
darrell, the faithful Dittobeckhead, ladies and gents...
SAGGG
Get a life and an education. Darrell at least offered some facts to back his statement.
"Facts"? archangel, you and your ilk know nothing of "facts". Now this thing called "lies"--THAT you guys know in spades...
It just sounds like an obsessive compulsive need to have power and money is driving Cheney, the sociopath. It would be best if we never hear from him again.
The old gnarly prick has come out from under his rock again. That sneer is precious. What is this? Dick in 2012? Oh my! Me thinks we have a comic among us! Go back Dicky, away with you. We have just begun to heal.
"My belief is we will, in fact, be greeted as liberators." –Vice President Dick Cheney, "Meet the Press," March 16, 2003
Dragon did you notice that Jake split about 7:40 from the post, that left him 20 minutes to get to school, you were being trolled by a punk kid....
Yeah, he was entertaining though....
It was only going to take 6 months and not cost us anything either,
which general was fired for saying it would cost us over $300B?
notice how those who are for war's, only do so from their sofa's?
You are so naive:
No, YOU are so naive.
It was during the Clinton Presidency, the first bombing by Middle Eastern Terrorists Al Qaida occurred at the World Trade Center We were there in New York at the time. Clinton chose to ignore this first incling of what was yet to come. 1993.
Also, the USS Cole, 17 killed, 1,000 injured, The al Khobar Tower, Saudi Arabia, Terrorists killing Military personnel there, and in 1998 under Bill Clinton's watch the Terrorist blew up the Embassy in Africa.
There were a total of 7,000 people killed.
What? George Bush?. He didn't start the War on our soil on 9/11! He had to make quick decisions, because of the complacency of Bill Clinton leaving everything to him, even Osama Bin Laden. He had Bin Laden in the palm of his hand.
Cheney is a Master at Diplomacy and Foreign Affairs. One must respect him for his guidance during the Persian Golf War, and through the 9/11 war in Iraq. Bush/Cheney did the best job possible.
Cheney isn't going to let this little tin soldier, Barack Obama play school yard bullying and blaming. Thank goodness Cheney is confronting Obama's nonsense.
Wow, to think others are naive is one understand of your lack of history.
I hope you see this, because Barack Obama is losing his credibility with all parties.
Losers is spelled this way, not loosers.
Nice how you can join the ranks of others who deny history and where the fault lies. Bush LET 9/11 happen by ignoring the warnings from his intelligence communities. Then he lied to get us into a no win war(s) in the middle east. cheney is the puppet master and has absolutely no mastering of diplomacy unless you consider negative diplomacy. Under their administration we became the most hated and feared country in the world, especially through cheney. President Obama is taking the careful time and consideration that should have been tried at the beginning of the war - before we started sacrificing our young men and women for a lie. You can lie all YOU want to yourself, but like with other deniers, you can't erase the facts.
The gnarly sneer troll is back croaking his song again. Have you no shame ?
Dick...sit down and SHUT UP!!!
I was wondering where all the libs have been lately. They were just waiting for a story about Cheny or Bush. Welcome back ladies!! Hard to hear the truth spoken from someone who's not afraid to take action isn't it? The Bush administration will go down as one of the greatest in history and you all just can't take it. Especially when obobo is floundering around out there and his poll numbers are dropping like a lead balloon!! This is expensive, but it sure is funny to watch him fail like we all knew he would. Have a great day girls!!
So where are the WMD's at again?
Oh boy! Another right-wing good ole boy who still thinks Bush was smart, and Dick (Tater) Chaney is sane. PK001, you are either some snotty little bored kid trolling these forums, or a true moron in every sense of the word. I truly worry about our education system when I see responses like yours. If people like you are the future of America, then god help us all.
That's hilarious!!! Even the GOP candidates told Bush/Cheney to stay home rather than campaign for them. BTW: Presidential historians already graded the Bush/Cheney administration as the worst. The other Dick, (Nixon), is grateful!!!
PK, you're apparently a Cheney fan and I presume you believe what he says about them having a strategy in place for 8 years in Afghanistan.
Do you have any idea what the strategy was? Can you cite what that strategy accomplished.
It seems to me that the only concrete developments over the last 8 years are an illigetimate and ineffective government and more territory ceded to the Taliban.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
The other Dick "Nixon" is dead....The two Dick's will meet again in hell.
After 8 years of hiding in a bunker somewhere, obviously afraid of his own shadow, Dick must be feeling safe again.
dragon,
while i believe that we as americans can agree that the war in iraq was a waste of money and lives,i think it is important to point out that the new york times had an op-ed about the greatest challenge facing gwb was the weapons of mass destruction in iraq.as did the washington post.hillary clinton, john kerry, and joe biden among many elected representatives also believed that there were weapons of mass destruction in iraq.the cia also believed this and reported it to the former president.what would you do if you were president and received this report.being an armchair quarterback is very easy to do.
Shawn, the problem is that Bush started a war that apparently had no plan for the post-war environment. Invading and conquering Iraq wa easy. What do with afterwards was the hard part.
Please remember, we suspected he had WMD and we had inspectors criss-crossing the country looking for them. Had we just kept the inspectors there for as many years as our military was there, there would have been no threat of WMD.
Also remember that the potential WMD was no a threat to the US: going to war should be in response to a threat against our nation only. We can't afford to protect the world.
Hey, man...are you going to share that stuff with everyone, or just bogart it?
very concerned....roll another one, just like the other one.....
shawn, those Dems voted to go to Iraq based on lies that were manufactured by Cheney & fed to the CIA. The media & public were also duped. Kind of like everyone believed the economy was fine!!!
gramps,
come on.you say lies but i say the president and vice president acted on the intelligence they received from the cia.if you act on what you believe to be true is that lying?it is easy to be an armchair quarterback.i will assume the president obama will make some mistakes while in office based on the best information to be had at the time.will this make him a liar?
History shows that Dick provided the wrong info to the CIA, not vice versa. That's why Colin Powell resigned!!!
Gramps, Bush indeed had a lot of power and clout.
Consider all the following which I've posted b4:
1) Bush was able to convince all the intelligence organizations around the world to give out false info about Saddam and WMDs so we could go to war with Iraq.
2) Bush and Cheney slipped away from the secret service on September 10, 2001 by telling story that they were going bird hunting and then stopping for a beer b4 returning. Instead they secretly planted bombs at the WTC site and the pentagon so Cheney could blow them up from his secret bunker and fake a terrorist attack while Bush went out of town the next day. I'm not sure how they brought the plane down in PA though.
3) Bush was able to change the course of Huricane Katrina so it went into New Orleans. He did this because New orleans was democratic area and Bush wanted to punish them for not voting for him in 2004.
4) Bush made an under the table deal with Osama Bin Laden shortly after we invaded Afghanistan. Bush would tell the troops to let Bin Laden slip out of the country, but in return, Bin Laden had to go to Crawford, TX and manage a convenience store that Bush had just invested in. Bin Laden has actually been there in Crawford since 2004. I know, I've seen him in the convenience store. IF it's not him, it has to be his twin brother.
5) Bush and Cheney made secret deal to make money in oil after we invaded Iraq. They bought several oil tankers from Hugo Chavez in Venezuela, with Haliburton serving as the middleman. Chavez and Bush pretended they didn't like each which gave them a good cover. Using US military fuel and ships as escorts to prevent Russian attack submarines from bothering them, these tankers were sailed to Iraq. They were then filled up with oil, before returning to Venezuela. The profits were split three ways between Bush, Chavez and Cheney. The only thing else Chavez wanted for participating in the corrupt action was to have a girl from Venezuela selected as Miss Universe by the end of the decade. You see that this just ecently happened which proves this story is true. Bush was able to accomplish this by bribing two of the pageant judges and having secret CIA operatives threaten the remainder with waterboarding.
I'm sure there's probably 20% of the left wing loons on here that believe everything I wrote, but please understand, I'M JOKING!
Your an idiot!
"I was wondering where all the libs have been lately. They were just waiting for a story about Cheny or Bush. Welcome back ladies!!"
Do you consider "ladies" to be some sort of insult? Pretty misogynistic. You must be quite a hit with the ladies. I usually don't stoop to personal attacks, but with women comprising about half the population, you are offending a lot of women.
darrell,
thanks.that is what i am trying to say.the bush administration is not as horrible as everyone is trying to say nor is the obama administration as bad as people are trying to say.could it be that for the most part our presidents are doing what they feel is best for the country at the time?
PK001
I think history will in fact show that in eight years bush and cheney failed to get bin laden, failed to prove Iraq was a real threat..(opps, oh well at least W did what George H would not do, take out sadam). the katrina disaster was a disaster and not only did they fail to monitor wall street but they rewarded them by giving them your money, back in november, after the first round of votes were no because of people like you and me who wrote in and said NO!
Mr cheney keeps reminding us that there was not another attack on American soil since 911. That may be true but it could be said that we have always been under attacked whether in somila, yemini, or the embassy bombing in east africa or even peral Harbor, but they were asleep at the wheel with the twin towers just like we now know there were clues to pearl harbor. The bush adminsitration will not be the greatest administration in history, in fact, it is already being seen as the frat boys go to the whitehouse and FAILED the USA!
Thank you for your service Mr.Cheney but they are no longer desired, you no longer work here, please go home, we will clean up your mess.
Since we are on the topic of he said/she said here are a few quotes from those that believe the democrats didn't support Iraq and WMD.
All this is, is politics as usual with Washington Democrats/Republicans. They all want to get re-elected so they can continue to fleece the taxpayer.
It amazes me people still believe their party is more for the American People than the other party. They are for the special interest WAKE UP!! Already, would you?
"[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs." -- From a letter signed by Joe Lieberman, Dianne Feinstein, Barbara A. Milulski, Tom Daschle, & John Kerry among others on October 9, 1998
"This December will mark three years since United Nations inspectors last visited Iraq. There is no doubt that since that time, Saddam Hussein has reinvigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to refine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of a licit missile program to develop longer- range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies." -- From a December 6, 2001 letter signed by Bob Graham, Joe Lieberman, Harold Ford, & Tom Lantos among others
"Saddam's goal ... is to achieve the lifting of U.N. sanctions while retaining and enhancing Iraq's weapons of mass destruction programs. We cannot, we must not and we will not let him succeed." -- Madeline Albright, 1998
"(Saddam) will rebuild his arsenal of weapons of mass destruction and some day, some way, I am certain he will use that arsenal again, as he has 10 times since 1983" -- National Security Adviser Sandy Berger, Feb 18, 1998
"There's no question that Saddam Hussein is a threat... Yes, he has chemical and biological weapons. He's had those for a long time. But the United States right now is on a very much different defensive posture than we were before September 11th of 2001... He is, as far as we know, actively pursuing nuclear capabilities, though he doesn't have nuclear warheads yet. If he were to acquire nuclear weapons, I think our friends in the region would face greatly increased risks as would we." -- Wesley Clark on September 26, 2002
"The community of nations may see more and more of the very kind of threat Iraq poses now: a rogue state with weapons of mass destruction, ready to use them or provide them to terrorists. If we fail to respond today, Saddam and all those who would follow in his footsteps will be emboldened tomorrow." -- Bill Clinton in 1998
"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including Al Qaeda members, though there is apparently no evidence of his involvement in the terrible events of September 11, 2001. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons. Should he succeed in that endeavor, he could alter the political and security landscape of the Middle East, which as we know all too well affects American security." -- Hillary Clinton, October 10, 2002
"I am absolutely convinced that there are weapons...I saw evidence back in 1998 when we would see the inspectors being barred from gaining entry into a warehouse for three hours with trucks rolling up and then moving those trucks out." -- Clinton's Secretary of Defense William Cohen in April of 2003
"Iraq is not the only nation in the world to possess weapons of mass destruction, but it is the only nation with a leader who has used them against his own people." -- Tom Daschle in 1998
"Saddam Hussein's regime represents a grave threat to America and our allies, including our vital ally, Israel. For more than two decades, Saddam Hussein has sought weapons of mass destruction through every available means. We know that he has chemical and biological weapons. He has already used them against his neighbors and his own people, and is trying to build more. We know that he is doing everything he can to build nuclear weapons, and we know that each day he gets closer to achieving that goal." -- John Edwards, Oct 10, 2002
"The debate over Iraq is not about politics. It is about national security. It should be clear that our national security requires Congress to send a clear message to Iraq and the world: America is united in its determination to eliminate forever the threat of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction." -- John Edwards, Oct 10, 2002
"Iraq does pose a serious threat to the stability of the Persian Gulf and we should organize an international coalition to eliminate his access to weapons of mass destruction. Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to completely deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power." -- Al Gore, 2002
"We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction." -- Bob Graham, December 2002
"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction." -- Ted Kennedy, September 27, 2002
"There is no doubt that Saddam Hussein's regime is a serious danger, that he is a tyrant, and that his pursuit of lethal weapons of mass destruction cannot be tolerated. He must be disarmed." -- Ted Kennedy, Sept 27, 2002
"I will be voting to give the president of the United States the authority to use force - if necessary - to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security." -- John F. Kerry, Oct 2002
"The threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real, but as I said, it is not new. It has been with us since the end of that war, and particularly in the last 4 years we know after Operation Desert Fox failed to force him to reaccept them, that he has continued to build those weapons. He has had a free hand for 4 years to reconstitute these weapons, allowing the world, during the interval, to lose the focus we had on weapons of mass destruction and the issue of proliferation." -- John Kerry, October 9, 2002
"Over the years, Iraq has worked to develop nuclear, chemical and biological weapons. During 1991 - 1994, despite Iraq's denials, U.N. inspectors discovered and dismantled a large network of nuclear facilities that Iraq was using to develop nuclear weapons. Various reports indicate that Iraq is still actively pursuing nuclear weapons capability. There is no reason to think otherwise. Beyond nuclear weapons, Iraq has actively pursued biological and chemical weapons.U.N. inspectors have said that Iraq's claims about biological weapons is neither credible nor verifiable. In 1986, Iraq used chemical weapons against Iran, and later, against its own Kurdish population. While weapons inspections have been successful in the past, there have been no inspections since the end of 1998. There can be no doubt that Iraq has continued to pursue its goal of obtaining weapons of mass destruction." -- Patty Murray, October 9, 2002
"As a member of the House Intelligence Committee, I am keenly aware that the proliferation of chemical and biological weapons is an issue of grave importance to all nations. Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process." -- Nancy Pelosi, December 16, 1998
"Even today, Iraq is not nearly disarmed. Based on highly credible intelligence, UNSCOM [the U.N. weapons inspectors] suspects that Iraq still has biological agents like anthrax, botulinum toxin, and clostridium perfringens in sufficient quantity to fill several dozen bombs and ballistic missile warheads, as well as the means to continue manufacturing these deadly agents. Iraq probably retains several tons of the highly toxic VX substance, as well as sarin nerve gas and mustard gas. This agent is stored in artillery shells, bombs, and ballistic missile warheads. And Iraq retains significant dual-use industrial infrastructure that can be used to rapidly reconstitute large-scale chemical weapons production." -- Ex-Un Weapons Inspector Scott Ritter in 1998
"There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years. And that may happen sooner if he can obtain access to enriched uranium from foreign sources -- something that is not that difficult in the current world. We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction." -- John Rockefeller, Oct 10, 2002
"Saddam’s existing biological and chemical weapons capabilities pose a very real threat to America, now. Saddam has used chemical weapons before, both against Iraq’s enemies and against his own people. He is working to develop delivery systems like missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles that could bring these deadly weapons against U.S. forces and U.S. facilities in the Middle East." -- John Rockefeller, Oct 10, 2002
"Whether one agrees or disagrees with the Administration’s policy towards Iraq, I don’t think there can be any question about Saddam’s conduct. He has systematically violated, over the course of the past 11 years, every significant UN resolution that has demanded that he disarm and destroy his chemical and biological weapons, and any nuclear capacity. This he has refused to do. He lies and cheats; he snubs the mandate and authority of international weapons inspectors; and he games the system to keep buying time against enforcement of the just and legitimate demands of the United Nations, the Security Council, the United States and our allies. Those are simply the facts." -- Henry Waxman, Oct 10, 2002
Sherri-880289 Your an idiot!
Should be "You're" (a contraction of "you are") Should read "You're an idiot"!
Dragonwagon -- stop correcting their spelling. Bad grammar makes their posts funnier.
Dragon,
you asked where are the wmd's, bin laden took them with him, hey are those the same one's that Cheney and Rumsfeld gave them back in the '80's?
You have got to be kidding. There is absolutely no credible information, evidence or intelligence that bin Laden was ever using Iraq as a base. Even your demented and anti-Constitutional cheney had to admit that. Just how does it feel to be the stooge for someone who doesn't give a rat about you or anyone you care about? Cheney would run over you and then wipe his feet on your corpse unless he wanted something from you. He is the most self-centered, sociopathic narcissisitic elitest by every definition. You are a fool for believing and trusting him by every definition.
He is the most self-centered, sociopathic narcissisitic elitest by every definition. You are a fool for believing and trusting him by every definition.
Being completely realistic, don't you think this applies to 99 percent of our federal elected officials? Sounds very much like Dodd, Reid, Fwank, Pelosi, and Obama to me!
Jeez, Cheney's like polluted water and hot air, he just evaporates, forms dark clouds and comes back as acid rain again and again and again!
Like you Bush did for eights years we had Afghanistan won but that was not good enough the had to go in to Iraq an ego trip for Bush .Where Bin Laden he still out their plotting away that keeping us safe letting him go,Going after someone that did not attack us i say shut up Cheney go back in your hole
The US & England attacked Afghanistan during 2001 because of 9-11.
November 2001 the UN wrote a mandate to rebuild Afghanistan usingthe armed forces of 42 countries and numerous civilian Aid organizations. Removing the US or England from a leadership position. During 2003 NATO assumed charge of the fighting forces in Afghanistan.
After BHO took office he appointed McChristal to take charge and increased the numbers of US troops. Shortly after this the NATO countries started reducing their forces......
So tell me how is this Bush's War?????????
did we really have Afganistan won prior to going into Iraq?
Jeez,
That depends upon your definition of winning.
We removed Al Qaeda and the Taliban from power - YES
Did we rebuild the country and install a viable leadership - NO The UN assumed this responsibility along with 42 countries......
BHO has now assumed this responsibility, because HE wanted to KILL OBL........... IDIOT Ha! Ha!
The Obama defenders are out in force this am. Mention one of their sworn enemies, either palin or chaney and you get all the sycophants on here posting democrat talking points from the looney left blogs. The fact is, our foreign policy is in a shambles because the world is watching and sees a weak leader who is sorry about what his country has done and is willing to throw money around. This is pathetic and it will not work. Cheney is right and you do not deal with foreign policy issues by being sorry. This story is evidence Obama is in way over his head.
Maybe we can give Obama a purple heart to go with that nobel thingy if he mans up and makes a decision!
Dick needs to crawl back into his hole rather than criticize the President. He & Bush had their chance & they blew it! How come no GOP candidates wanted Bush or Cheney to campaign for them? They couldn't hide the fact that they supported their failed polcies though!!!
Yes, Obama deserves somthing, but it's not a medal.
Go Cheney!! Let Rahmalamadingdong and Obamalamadingdong know that they're wasting time and troops llives here. Make a damn decision already and MOVE ON!
He's not waiting to do the right thing, he's waiting until the healthscare bill passes. He can't have two huge failures happening at once - gotta space them out a bit so the don't recall that meaningless "peace" award.
It looks like the Nobel Committee bought themselves a president.
Palin was prettier, but about as smart as our ex-VP!
They are both highly intelligent. You would see that if hate wasn't covering your eyes!
I do agree with Cheney! He shows more wisdom than the Obama Admin …
Examplee:
I don't know what Obama said to the Russian Prime Minister when he visited way back when, but the response ... A few months ago there was a Russian Sub that surfaced of the coast of NJ. It was no accident, it's sailors were walking top side and visitors at the shore took pictures. Low and behold, it was in local papers. I don't recall it hitting national news. In short, I feel it's because Obama thought he was holier than thou to the Prime Minister, and well, this is the response!
Even if the pic isn't what it's said to be, here's a quote concerning the linked article:
"As coincidence would have it, a pair of nuclear-powered Russian subs actually have been patrolling the Atlantic, The New York Times reported earlier this month.
"I don't think they've put two first-line nuclear subs off the U.S. coast in about 15 years," naval historian and submarine warfare expert Norman Polmar told The Times.
All this comes on the heels of Russia's humiliating failed test launch of a Bulava missile from a submarine in July. and at a time when President Obama has struggled to normalize relations with Russian President Dmitri Medvedev.
"Anytime the Russian Navy does something so out of the ordinary it is cause for worry," a senior Defense Department official told The Times.
Yep, it appears other countries don't view us a serious threat and it's evident they don't bluff Mr. Obama. Surely, the ball is in your court.
Dont you have some Fox News to watch somewhere ? Or how about some far right blog to read before you can come here an espouse "your opinions" like all the folks here from the "far left". Cheney is a monster and he needs to be held in chains while we dig a six foot hole !
It amazes me that Cheney continues to waste oxygen better used elsewhere. His input/policy influence directly caused the needless deaths of thousands of Americans and hundreds of thousands of foreign civilians.
He dares to mention that he feels the current Administration is undermining US Intelligence, i.e.,
"I will tell you straight that I am not encouraged when intelligence officers who acted in the service of this country find themselves hounded with a zeal that should be reserved for America’s enemies," he said.
Excuse me?!!! This is the same Dick Cheney who outed one of these Intelligence officers, acting in the service of her country (Valerie Plame (sp?)), because her husband had information countering the intelligence his administration was using to push the war in Iraq down our throats.
And don't say it wasn't Cheney but a subordinate who did this. Cheney's subordinates didn't breathe unless Dick said it was okay.
Amazing again that Cheney is so quick to push others into the fray with accumulated loss of life, when he avoided service in the armed forces, at all cost.
Cheney was and is a disgrace to this country and should be tried for the profiteering criminal he is.
Cheney is starting to sound like Carter: Some one who failed miserably but hopes he can make it up after he's out of power and irrelevant.
The only reasons the media carries it is that people love to read controversy.
Bull sh##. Obama is a whiner and keeps lying about what happened under Bush because he is a loser, has a loser administration, and has had a lifetime of not being accountable for anything.
Affirmative action at work here. When you tell a group...any group, that they really don't have to achieve anything but are still SPECIAL and GREAT, then they start believing that mediocrity is OK. Hence the fall of the US. Third world...we are here!!!!!!!!!!
If Cheney had his way, he would have pushed the BIG A button a long time ago. Yeah, do anything it takes to win which means more and more of our soldiers being killed. He is a ranting old man that just can't stand being out of the limelight. GO HOME!
Usually when the nuclear option is used we get our people away from the blast. Except of course when it's Harry Reid threatening disaster on our country.
If Obama keeps acting like a little girl and wets his pants, then the blast is going to be in DC. His indecision and waffling and whining are embolding the enemy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is a pus### and is going to get millions of Americans KILLED. We need to IMPEACH and send him and emanual back to crooked Chicago. Keep working on the olympics.
Obama is not a leader...he is a LOSER. He can't take a punch and IS FOCUSING ON THE US PRESS MORE THAN THE TERRORISTS!!!!!!! What a complete STOOGE!
This is intelligent? You sound like a small child having a tantrum and not a very smart child at that
Bush and Cheney, You really need to check what is impeachable and NOTHING our President has done is impeachable. You just need to take another Prozac and settle down. Before you know it, it will be 2012, and he will be re-elected again. Count on it!
"my daddy can beat up your daddy"... Stop acting like a bunch of kids in the school yard and come up with your perfect solution. I've seen nothing above but a bunch of name calling... poopy pants!!!
The solution is simple, pull out now. It is a no win situation, Afghanistan is and always will be an empire breaker.
it's simple get our ass's out of there and let them kill themselves off "which they are VERY good at" and do the last man standing concept....unless you are planning on spending the next 100 years in this sh#thole of a country there is no way you are ever going to win with people that are willing to strap bomb vest on to their CHILDREN to sacrifice themselves in the name of a gutter religion that professes peace and does the total opposite to achieve it.
Mogley, I agree totally. I feel right now like the playground supervisor needs to come in right now and say "Dick, you had your chance to stop the bullying of the mean kids on the swingset, and Barry, you need to make a decision on whether or not you want to stop the bullying of the mean kids on the swingset. NOW BEHAVE or you will both get a TIME OUT!
The man needs to get over himself. Go back to your undisclosed location, Mr. Cheney.
