70% say government isn't working well; Obama approval back at 50%
Poll: American public fed up with Washington

I can't wait to watch the politicians reactions to getting kicked out of office, especially the Republicans who have been so gleeful about their taking the Kennedy senate seat. They are not getting the message that it isn't a partisan thing that the people are fed up with, it is nearly all of the Washington elected officials. If you think the Tea Party movement sprang up quickly, just wait until the mid-term elections. Many incumbents will be in the unemployment lines they created. They better start polishing up their resumes or listening to the voters. We are tired of partisan politics controlling everything, that's not what they were elected to do.
It wasn't Ted Kennedy's seat (fact), it wasn't the Democrat's seat (fact). The seat belongs to the people of Massachusetts (fact) and they spoke (fact). Note any trend???
The seat in Massachusetts was the people's seat.
too bad the people believe the lies!!!
So true Doug, fact is the Republicans are the ones that need to be scared. Fact is they are the incumbents. Fact is they are the party of no. Fact is they are have nothing to contribute. Fact is since they can not help fix the problem they are the problem.
Independents are taking notes on the arrogant party known as the Democrats and the radical righties that are reminding us of the Bush days too with their let's let the government fail tactics. Scott Brown was elected because of Independents, not lefties and not radical righties! Get that straight!
Hey !! Marco, I patented the use of the word (fact) so you shouldn't use it. Unless you want to give me a special deal on health care. If that is the case, the going price is $300,000,000 for my concurrence. Now back to Fox.
I seriously wonder if our elected Representatives have knowledge of the Government's ratings, and if do, do they really CARE ???
Emails to my Washington State Democratic Congressional Representatives on various legislative issues have fallen on deaf ears. I am wondering if this trend will continue, or will they see that their Progressive attitudes will be the final destruction of their political careers.
And this is not only for the President, the Democratic Senators, but the Republicans as well. When my Congressional Representatives, or any elected official, change their party from Democratic (or Republican) to the Independent Party to try to change their image(s) and OBTAIN VOTES FOR THE MID-TERM ELECTION, shame on you and you will put the final nail in your political coffin.
Time to change the way politics is handled on the beltway: Transparency, NO BEHIND CLOSED DOOR DEALS, no bickering (work together), no more social programs, terminate deficit spending, kick the special interest friends, Czars, and groups out of the White House, keep the detainees at Gitmo and hold military tribunals, and finally and most important: UPHOLD THE CONSITUTION THAT YOU TOOK AN OATH OF OFFICE TO SUPPORT AND DEFEND.
For my elected representatives: GET THE PICTURE ???
The fact of the matter is that in order for Republican's to regain control of the White House, they should steer more towards conservative values, not hateful smear tactics like the radical right likes to do. They need to reach out more to the middle class and throw more bones to the poor instead of taking care of the rich all the time. I think if the Republican's got rid of the radicals in their party and moved more toward the middle, they'd be alright. Obama is already making the Dems walk the plank on his fascination with Healthcare and socialistic views, they are making the tidy bowl man proud flushing this country faster down the toilet with their "I don't give a crap what the American people want" attitude!
I agree Loudmouth. however, it's also true that the Independents always elect the President. Leftists and Righties will always back the party nominee. The problem this time is that the Independents succumbed to Obama's promises and did not realize what a radical he is. We may have to go through one more cycle of a Republican lead house and senate that screws things up. But I have to believe that after that happens, there is a good chance that a true Independent party may emerge.
Figures Richie is it cartoon time? Go to Fox please!
Doug — I can't wait to see the surprise on your face as the progressives and liberals ride into the sunset. The article is slanted, if Obama's approval rating is 50% I will kiss his butt on the courthouse square. There may be democrats left to run the way they are dropping.
The fat lady is tuning up for a grand finale.
I hope so Richietwo. I'm a registered Republican, but am thinking of re-registering as an Independent if they don't clean house too! I don't like radicals no matter which party we're talking about. I have zero respect for those people.
This article had to have been written by a liberal because I am angry at congress, but I am also very angry at obama. He's the one who leads the charge. Are the wealthy people going to be exempt from these new taxes like the union, congress and a sundry assortment of obamanites. Who will fund his next campaign? Guess you know what that means "Middle Class".
LM, I have been a registered Dem, Rep and Indie depending on whose candidate I felt was relevant. I realize that this country has been entrenched in a two party system since Washington left office but I don't see that lasting forever. I'm willing to let the diehards have the Dem and Rep parties (i.e. private organizations). The Independent party would be as the name implies, Independent to think on their own.
Nice, stats good to see that people are seeing through the tactics. I agree both parties need to work together.
If the people wish to replace all of the Congress, that can't be good for the majority party since they have more to lose than the opposition.
I notice that the people seem to think badly of the President's health care (and other) plans and yet seem to not dislike him personally. There is a term to describe that. "Likeable idiot" That same description very easily also applies to Jimmy Carter.
Doug and Marco... My guess is that you work for the DNC, or are somehow compensated for your pro-Democrat comments. After witnessing a Senate seat held by a Democrat for 40 years go to a Republican, that should make the Republicans tremble in fear... lol. Let's see... the NBC Journal Poll... lol, if that does not wr eak of a liberal slant...lol. Obammy and the other Liberals still don't get it. The majority of the nation is conservative and the Democrats are wanting to make this a Marxist government. Obama said again about health care... "I need to do a better job of explaining, and sharpen my point." WTF He is so out of touch. His white elephant, better known as "Socialized Medicine" is so out of touch with what the American people want, that he is willing to drag the whole Democrat party down in attempts to get it passed.
I believe that as the inevitable becomes clear about summer time, that it will be time to somehow start to find a vehicle to carry the message to a new congress that will hopefully consist of many, many new faces that just kicking the aholes out is not the solution: there has to be a change in how the legislature works. No longer can congress determine what they get paid or what benefits they get, no longer may they remain in office till they feel they have garnered enough money, no longer should lobbyist be able to associate with them for both sides have proven to be incapable to understand that the welfare of the nation outweighs the limited needs of either the member of congress or the company that is veying for their favor. The reins of government have to pass back to the governed but there has to be a method to do this, and the problem is is that there is no way that this can be accomplished just by kicking the guys out, or it will quickly revert back to the way that it is. Perhaps the first thing that should be done is to make it law that the current legislature will get all its benefits only when the budget that they propose and pass is in balance.
obama spoke today on the radio,he is well aware that he is a one term prez!!!yes!!! i just hope he does not do too much damage to this country on his way out! there is so much damage as is we cant bare as it is,sooooo many people so destitude.alot of suffering! has this gov.have no heart?democrats which are suppose to be for the poor people?i dont think so!this is worce then the early 80's by wide an far during carter! b.o.has by far taken the role as the worced ever!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stop listening to the state run media and then read your history books and then realize the public is fed up with Obama and his back room deals as well as all politicians who wish to push their agendas on us Americans. Now realize it is the progressives who now run the Democrats and it is the progressives who would like to see this government and its constitution over turned. The independent party, like the tea partiers, that you dismissed are the ones who elcted Brown. If this country still had conservative Republicans and Liber Democrats we would function as we always have. Unfortunately the progressives have reared their ugly heads just like they did back in the 40's. They have been quite but active and they were ferretted out by news agencies and talk show host that still think investigative reporting is important. Sorry you are bitter but you have been wrong all this time and now you are whinning adn snibbling.
The Mass election spoke louder than any politically skewed poll ever will.
I think we should kick them all out and start over. Perhaps a decent Independent candidate will emerge in time for 2012. Obama is a hapless idiot that can't stay focused on one crusade, if his life depended on it. Although I must say the Democrats have done a good job running the Federal deficit up past 12+ Trillion. I guess spending money without regard, comes easy. I don't see a sensible Republican candidate on the horizon; although, Bobby Jindal of Louisiana is promising. I'm done with "change to believe in"; the only "Change" happening is more government control, increased government spending, higher unemployment and foreclosure rates. Boy, are we screwing up this county, Folks!
i'd like to know who the 28% are and where they have been. i'm amazed that many of those polled feel the fed. gov. is working well or ok.
smear tactics on the RIGHT? Please listen to Keith Oberman sometime... or maybe a townhall or two from the dems.... or how about the czar that called us "white folks" a**holes?
it's all about how "bad" the radical right is it......, gee let's see they how "bad" they are...
AND for the facts they have put forth SEVERAL health care plans but the DEMOCRATS in office not only didn't let them see the light of day but also SHUT THE DOOR and didn't want to compromise at all.
They even shut their own party out of the LAST negotiations where they let the UNIONS get a bye on taxing Cadillac plans!!!
They want to "cram through what "they wanted" to without the help of any republicans in congress.
Here are links to the republican healthcare proposals.. btw.. they aren't sitting around doing nothing, but the MEDIA and LEFTISTs have conveniently swept all of this under the table in order to call them the party of NO.. and most of the people out there (many on this newsvine apparently) haven't even taken the time to see the media rhetoric for what it is... LIES.
also if I were in congress and saw the 1000 + page healthcare bill I would be the party of HELL NO,
I'll give you a big freaking clue, the american people shouldn't be paying for that crap!!! Medicare is a joke. you want to save money, reform all the crap medicare BS, you want to save money, stop giving it to the attorneys who file BS lawsuits and insurance companies who can fudge rates based on where you live....
Free enterprise works, we need to let it work, special interests are killing this country. Starting with the government special interests of Freddie, Fannie, and rampant medicare corruption.
How about we CLEAN house before we add more crap to it? And I'll tell you what my "anger" isn't directed at any one party,... it's more directed at the people who refuse to compromise or listen to the will of the people, they are there to SERVE the people, not get rich on their backs.
Anyone who voted yes for the bailouts, stimulus or health care package should be booted out of office plain and simple. Term limits should be imposed for EVERY OFFICE. stop the special interests from grabbing hold period.
I don't care what party you are, you serve AMERICANs and as such should start listening to your own voters.
Obama sucks! He has not created one job. He needs to get out of office and let a real man do the job of running the US.
What change has he brought to the US? Nothing but a pile of lies. Him and Sorros need to get out of the White House and take the hat tricks with them.
Obama will not be elected again.
LOL Doug!!! I can't wait to see the look on YOUR face when the ones kicking out the Washington politicians - ARE MORE WASHINGTON POLITICIANS!!! You are one of the 70% of STUPID Americans who think that you are in such a bad way because YOU aren't getting in on the bennies of big government. Of course, when a tornado hits your house, or a hurricane, or terrorists, or gangs of poor people acting like thugs raping and pillaging - THEN you want that big government to come in and "take care of your problem." Well, we didn't get into this economic mess in a year, and with the attitude of the American people today, we won't get out of this mess anytime soon. See, it takes "liberal" teamwork, not "conservative" individualism ("it's all about me, me, and me.") So yea, just keep listening to those do-nothing Republicans, who have to be OVERJOYED that the anti-American Supreme Court decided that corporations and special interest groups are "persons" and can now go out unchecked and "buy" elections. Maybe a large part of that 70% is DISGUSTED with the Republicans in office who, when faced with a problem, fall back into political sulking and do nothing.
Pelosi promised to 'drain the swamp'.
It seems she's the chief snake.
They all need to go. Vote 'em all out. No incumbents.
Time to send a message: Do right by the people or, you're fired!
http://www.blowoutcongress.com/aboutus/index.php?mn=1
Being among the first to post a comment, or even getting the most votes does not make one's point correct. I have agreed with some postings and disagreed with others. My belief is that the majority of the country is conservative. In Massachusetts, it was the conservative Independents, conservative Republicans, and conservative Democrats who voted for Scott Brown. This country does not want to trade it's liberty, it's freedom, it's wealth for the second world security of government health care. Most people see the direction that Obama and the Progressive Liberals want to take this country. Their ideology is one of a welfare state. It has been tried throughout the world many times and has NEVER worked. I for one doubt that Obama is held in the high esteem that this article chides. For a country to recognize the awful policies of this administration and still approve of Obama, brings into question the validity of the NBC journal poll and how they proposed the questions in the poll.
Let's have the media list all the pork barrel stuff that is tacked onto each bill. Question - why hasn't the media done this? The media is very willing to point misconduct in other areas! Believe me, you'd be shock at what gets passed - I'll vote for this if you add on this -- mentality.
Lets get rid of the millionaries and increase travel expenses, housing allowance, and such for the Congressman who can't afford the transportation back and forth aor maintain to homes.
Government by the people for the people.
Repulbicans scared? I think not! You have your parties mixed up. It's the begining of the end for the Libs. Come on, November! Bring it on!
I would like to know, If any one can explain, how a polling group can take a poll of 800 people over two days, out of a possible 300,000,000 and claim a margin of error of 3.5 %, thats like calling one person in a town of 375,000 and asking that person how your town feels about gay marriage, Obama ect.
and did we really need a poll to tell us this
yes he does suck!!! an he knows it,but i still hope an pray his admin.an him does not damage this counrty any further!!! we cant take anymore!! we are already in a sorry state of sheet!!!!!!1
if Washington cannot ride the Trojan Horse efficiently, sensibly then maybe they should Retire and let some New Blood take the reins..............
Marco,
Another Koolaid drinker Eh Bud!
So true Doug, fact is the Republicans are the ones that need to be scared. Fact is they are the incumbents. Fact is they are the party of no. Fact is they are have nothing to contribute. Fact is since they can not help fix the problem they are the problem.
Please back up your statement with any sort of fact. Any. Please list ANY contributions from the LIBERAL Democrats that are in any way positive and conductive to anything. Obambi and his merry band of thieves have had it all their way for a year with all the majority they needed to do it "there way". They have only accomplished pissing off the part of the country that is productive and foots the bill for everything. What a joke! It is amateur hour in Washington!
Please, pull your head out before you suffocate.
We need a stop payment rule. When the people don't agree unanimously with an elected officials position or lack of position, they can bring it to a vote. Either pay them or not.
The only way you can clean the government is to give the people power to make the changes! You shouldn't be able to become what you want to become after you made promises in which others voted for. Waiting till election day can spark a lot of Nothing.
You people who are crowing about this Massachusetts election will have to eat your words down the line. It was not pro GOP - it was against fat cat government that is continuing. It was against the bank bailout, another "trickle down" economic measure that did not trickle down. It was against federal officeholders not listening to the public and misinterpreting the 2008 election.
Independents are just as fed up with the always-say-no Republicans as they are with the we-have-the-majority-but-still-can't-do-anything Democrats. The Republicans made this mess with their pro-corporation policies and deregulation of the banks and giving them to gamble with investors' money and insuring that they could not lose, because the government would back them up - which it did.
Now the idiots are going to reconfirm Bernanke, who has proven beyond a doubt that he has no clue about how to restructure this economy. His twin idiot, Timothy Geithner, is calling for Bernanke's reconfirmation - that alone should be enough for any sensible person to know that's a bad idea. Tweedle Dum and tweedle Dee.
Vote them all out and start with a clean slate. Run yourself, if you can.
The responsibility with the state of America lays with the voter -
The voter has to stop "rubber stamping" the crooks running for political office base on party affiliation, and find canidates to represent "we the people" instead of special interests, lobbyist, and money!
rp123-1352647.... you say you hope Obama does not do to much damage..have you noticed all the damage our congress has done over the past 12 or more years...they have passed NAFTA and all the other abc programs that do nothing but make wall street happy...and leave the people of this country with far fewer jobs...they handed out bailouts like water....agreed to everything with NO questions asked...not that wall street would permit them...are they commited to helpig the tax payers of this country..if they are it is only to get votes and forget them afterward.
Correct me if I am wrong - but even if they were to all lose - wouldn't they still get a paycheck for the rest of their lives - compliments of the taxpayers?
The people of this country are sick of the spending, special interest groups, healthcare reform, cap and trade, debt of fedr. govt, lack of concern for the American people, lack of listening to the American people, and ESPECIALLY the arragance of washington, among many other things. We need to stop this progressive movement in our beloved country. If we do not stop it, we are going to NOT like how this whole movement ends.
I say we vote out the Republicans and the Democrats and vote in more Independents. True, free thinkers who have the courage to not vote and push legislation as it pertains to a particular party doctrine. THINK FREE! VOTE FREE!
I am a registered Democrat, and I am DELIGHTED that Brown was elected as the Senator from Massachusetts. It put an end to OBAMA'S attempt to TAKE OVER HEALTH CARE. Many people want to blame Pelosi and Reid, and I believe they are worthy of blame, however, BARACK is behind the scenes planning everything. BARACK is a PROGRESSIVE AND A SOCIALIST AT HEART. Enough of BIG GOVERNMENT.
Everything BARACK has done has been ASS BACKWARDS, including this KSM thing and the Christmas day Underwear bomber. Barack's policies are exactly backwards...
who the hell are you all polling? How can you speak for so many people?
My major problem with republicans is they think they did it all on their own.
My major problem with democrats is they set a tone of cushion which takes from the need of achievement.
My problem with both parties is the fact that they need to work together for the people, not their people, all people. When the super gang parties don't get along we not only pay them for it but we really really pay for it.
What the real funny part is, is that Dems, Republicans, and Independents all have the same idea...that only their ideas and ideals will work. The arguements on these boards reflect an America at each other's throats...the wrong throats! Shouldn't we be saving our energy for our enemies?
The problem is, I haven't seen either party fix anything in all these years, or we woudln't be where we are today.
Wouldn't it be funny on election day, if each of the partys' voters cancelled the others out and left NO ONE with more votes?
Who'd have the last laugh then?
Marco-310961
So True, the Republican Party (which I despise) should just bury itself...because we know Liberals are winning everything and Conservatives should just go die in the corner....
Oh wait, 4 out out of the five major elections went to Conservatioves and the Guy that almost won was a conservative tea party member, not a Republican.
Marco, nothing better than watching liberals such as yourself align with your party rather than along with their candidates promises.
Anyways, apparently the Democratic Party is going to be dead for another 30 years since they are too ignorant to understand what America wants.
Way to go. Now we will have Republican rule. Which sucks.
Common sense is completely lost in America.
Politicians are like diapers! They often need to be changed for ALL the same reasons!!!
I bet if you took all potential candidates names off of the ballot and only put party names on the ballet people would still vote.
scoottoot:
Your answer is 100 per cent correct. It is the "People's Seat". For those who question this, please look it up and do the research. You'll benefit from learning something new. History, the Constitution, and abiding by the Law.
The late Ted Kennedy's wife, Vicki, tried to pull one over on the Massachusett's citizens, by telling them it was Ted's Senate seat. Never in a million years.
Politicians. Who can believe the 'snow job"; they believe all American citizens are stupid, they, the superior intellects. Garbage.
N=800?
seriously with the myriad of factors to be taken into account I wonder if this was an adequate sample..
Remove Pelosi and Mitch McConnel and things will improve dramatically, overnight!
Where where the polls taken that rated Obama down to 50%, the Blank Panther membership?
Real America, real working for what you have Americans, have him closer to 25% approval rating.
yes ivan i agree!! they do care about wall street more then us,but it is us who gets the economies moveing!!! without us they are @!$%#!!!! damn them!!!those @!$%#s!!!! you wallstreet bastards are nothing without us!!! you hear me!!!! nothing!!!!!
John Thune Senator for South Dakota. Between 2002–2004 Thune worked as a lobbyist for the Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern Railroad.[3]
Soon after arriving in the Senate, Thune wrote language into a transportation bill expanding the pot of federal loan money for small railroads, enabling his former client to apply for $2.5 billion in government financing for its project.[9]
Politics are not my issue. It's pragmatism. Ain't nothing worse.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/president_obama_job_approval-1044.html
Democrats want the labels on Republicans don't seem to care. Seams they did a survey and found that when the label wasn't there people were more likely to vote for another candidate.
I think you should take a poll in the Midwest and in the Central United States. You would find out that the majority of the people do not like President Obama! They do not trust him, he will do whatever it takes to accomplish his agenda. He has to keep all of his promises to all the dishonest people that helped get him elected. He is part of every back room deal that has been done. He thinks the American people are so simple, that he can trick us all. I can't wait until he falls and has to drive some old pick up truck around!
I hope everyone asks themselves, did I use my vote last election to change the congress or did I vote for the incumbent, self-serving politician, be it a Republican or Democrat, who has become entrenched in office. How is it that congress had a 12% approval rating yet 96% were reelected? The "my congressman is ok, it's all the others that are the problem" syndrome was, as always, in play. These politicians need to loose there job! They are responsible for the state of this country. The American people have gotten the Government that they deserve. Next election, vote against all incumbents, or look in the mirror to see the real problem.
Without Communities of people, there would be no need for corporations or banks or government for that matter.
Its not money or corporate banking or government. ITS PEOPLE!
Brad, do not worry. we don't believe the lies. We are onto Obama and this administration.
haha, they actually had to poll this? politicians dont work for the people, they work for the corporations that pay their campaign tab. all those favors owed have been the pollting factor in this sham we call a democracy. just read that article about the supreme court lifting campaign contribution limits by companies, looks like its just going to get worse. gee, i wonder if the lobbyists had anything to do with that. we need to realize no matter how you package the crap, it still stinks whether it right or left wing crap. the only reason they pull these stunts is because we are too segregated in our own sub-groups bickering amongst ourselves to affect any real change (not the obama version of change). It doesnt matter if youre white, black, straight, gay, or other, were all getting screwed. anybody ever hear of the saying "divide and conquer". as long as we fight ourselves, we will never progress.
Like it really matters, the stupid public will just point fingers & keep voting the two corrupt parties back & forth, in & out of office while they make childish comments & pointless complaints on sites such as newsvine. LOL, I'm sure the Washington political machine was really worried about a bunch of idiots with tea-bags stuck to their heads. Since big business runs America, my suggestion for change is to start "voting" with our dollars. Bring on strikes & boycotts!! Wake up people, we have strength in numbers! For example, as huge as Wal-Mart is, we HAVE the power to put them out of business within a matter of months!! Start sticking it to their contributors like they have been to us!
So true that the seat wasn't Kennedy's! He did hold it for a very long time though, that was my point of reference. The willingness to engage in debate about what matters to individuals is the "movement" that will charge the mid-term and local elections for a long time to come regardless of the political party to which the individual belongs. The time for "party loyalty" is long past, that is the message that the Washington politicians are not getting. People will require that politicians listen to them, not the party leaders. Frankly, I don't care which party a particular candidate embraces as long as they don't let the party replace the will of the people in carrying out their responsibilities. Independents will be courted like never before because there will be so many of us.
Fed up with Washington that's nice and what’s the alternative?
ivan, NC #1.40,
Firstly I can't take credit for this, it was on one of the vines within the past week or so, and I can't find it, so credit should go to whoever brought it up.
If you can spare about an hour, and you'd like to know more of who is who in this economic melt-down, and see that one person could see it coming and attempted to do something to prevent it in the first place, but was silenced by the powers to be.
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/warning/view/
The worst part, some who silenced this person, are gurus to Obama right now.
This will also let you see, had that whistle-blower, not been silenced and been allowed to do her job, we most probably would never have seen this financial meltdown, because it would never have happened.
I do hope that some of you find the time to view this, and pass it along to your family and friends. Knowledge is power !
We need a new party (no party) and wipe out the whole govt. to start all over again. The first thing we have to do is make all lobbyists unemployed and make that position obsolete, become energy independent and pull our military out of the rest of the world.
Thaat's right DavidP4660
As you alluded to, the fish stinks from the head down. And the stench is unbearable.
And we'll never get rid of that stench from Bush/Cheney.
the truth of the matter is these speeches made like this one tonite are just alot of bull coming out of the mouths of wishes that never will ever come true , this government is such a farce make everyone wish for hope !! the majority of these plans that are spoken from obama factly never will come true. one thing that never happened is this I refinanced my house and never received a 6500 or 8000 dollar tax credit heck this was only for people that could afford a new house first time buyer well fact of the matter is very few people were helped. second wouldnt it make more sence to just plain stop income tax for one year to help every american and the economy fact this government just wants to spend spend spend without repaying the repayers aren't even born yet this is the big issue, do you want your future grankids repaying your debt then keep letting obama spend think about it who will repay these debts all the old foaggies in washington will be in their graves before these debts even begin to be repaid that is the real fact quit spending and let americans have a real tax break not just talk about it that don't put money in americans pockets giving them tax breaks will help people spend more and will create jobs not lose them
Man you just don't get do you? The least evil of the two parties is what Americans are left with...basically the refuse of the political world. I'll vote for whatever candidate is best suited to support the health of our nation. Right now...there are NO good Democrats...not even one. There are a few Republicans...Scott Brown is the least of ALOT of evil in MA...I would never have voted for him, but against a Democrat...yep I'll pull the lever.
Mr. Mark Murray,
It states in your article, "Public’s anger isn’t directed at Obama"
You just keep telling yourself that over and over again, because no one else is buying that. He is setting the tone and it stinks from the top right on down.
We're fed up with all of them in DC, and the chosen one is not exempt.
Hi Mark Murray, given that politics is such a dog-park issue, I'm wondering what, exactly, you're covering that politics with.
Hmmmm, I think these poll results are a bit off. Where exactly were the participants in this poll found, on the White-house mailing list?
Somehow, I think, if a poll was conducted on this blog the results would be a bit different.
It is not obama's fault that the country is in the toilet its the bought and paid for rep's (by big biz) that have sold out this country for a dollar and that is a fact-Its big biz that wants to kill america and take everything you have so you will work for a buck a day
Hi Brad,
Let me see if I understand this? Big business has been around for generations. Obama has been around long enough to drive the unemployment rate up from 7.6% in January 2009 to 10.2% in less than a year. Kind of hard for me to see your point Brad.
A bit paranoid there brad...
Hey STOP, the poll is pretty clear that Americans are blaming the republicans and seeing through the tactics. My advice to republicans is start cooperating. Same goes for the Democrats.
brad-530094......
You are correct, it is not Obama's fault for being who he is, maybe you would say it is Bush's fault.
So is has to be the President's Chicago mentors, Czars, and special interest/adviser friends who visit him each day in the West Wing. They are the ones who have set the tone of this Administrataion and draft the legislation our Congressional Representatives bicker over. The President will continue to follow their lead since he has praise for their ideology. Further, these thugs could care less about the office of the President, the Congress, or the American people. This is not the way our elected officials in Washington should run the country.
Therefore, this is the reason why the American public is fed up with Washington, and it starts at the TOP.
sd,,,,i'm surprised you can see anything bent over like that,,,pull it out man and stand up straight,,,you mite even smell a rose or two. LOL,,,it's Obama's fault that unemployment is where it is?, lost jobs started long before Obama took office,,i think Shrubs was still in the seat when that started.
"And the percentage who believe the country is headed in the wrong direction now stands at 58 percent, the highest level of Obama’s presidency."
The percentage of people who think the country is headed in the wrong direction is at its highest level and growing....and you actually believe that they do not hold Obama accountable? He is the president of the country and has been for more than a year, what human being on the face of the earth is more accountable than him? It has been his massively wasteful spending that has buried us.
As you alluded to, the fish stinks from the head down. And the stench is unbearable.
Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.
Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?
Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?
You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does.
You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.
You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.
You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.
You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.
One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.
I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.
I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason.. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.
Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.
What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized t he President for creating deficits.. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.
The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.
It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.
If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.
If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red
If the Army &Marines are in IRAQ , it's because they want them in IRAQ
If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.
There are no insoluble government problems.
Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.
Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.
They ,and they alone, have the power.
They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.
Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.
We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!
stop thestatists You are absolutely correct. I honestly do not know anyone who likes obama..Most people I know cannot even stand to look at him. Peolsi and reid and frank et al share plenty of blame, but the top is plenty infested.
That's right, and we the American people put every one of 'em in there. Now we have buyer's remorse. It might take until November, but the will of the people will be made known those are supposed to be representing us.
Judd Alan Gregg (born February 14, 1947) member of the Republican Party. He would be up for re-election in 2010.[5]
On November 20, 2009, Gregg vowed to block any legislation put forth that would provide transparency at the Federal Reserve by performing a complete audit.
Gregg stated, "I would not vote for any bill and I would filibuster any bill that had this language in it."
In the Senate Gregg was the leading Republican negotiator and author of the TARP program, which bailed out financial institutions, while he had a multi-million dollar investment in the Bank of America..[26][27][28]
Obama is not 50% popular more like 20% and we need to stop the crook Bernanke also. Loan shark of Obamas...people keep looking Scott was one battle won we have many to go!!!
brad-530094
Are you that ignorant?
The Healthcare Insurance meetings. Pharmaceuticals yes, Insurance Companies yes, Unions..yes...
Where exactly did you get your vote?
Tell me Brad, where exactly was your demands heard during these closed door meetings?
Did you know that the Insurance Industry threw a party for coakley right before the election? They didn't throw one for Brown?
Not justifying republican stupidity, just pointing out that the current administration is selling out so quickly and people such as yourself are unwilling to see their duplicity.
100% THIRD PARTY CANDIDATES IN 2010 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I listen to people talk about politics, some times I get really scare, not because they don't have a good point, or bad, not because I disagree or because they are right or wrong, because many people are simply fanatics, they believe blindly in a party even sacrificing their own well being.
Where I get really scare is when I hear someone at any point at any year defending certain party with their life, not matter who is the leader and their agenda, is just because is red.......or blue! Those to me are fanatics; not to far from radical Muslims:
A fanatic is blind, insensitive, cold, stubborn, and ignorant because been open to knowledge and to different points of view, does not mean weakness but rather wisdom, I truly believe one cannot be committed to party lines, one cannot be committed because a constant changing world requires constant change.
but to believe in a party for many years without revising their leaders just because their reds or blues becoming puppets it's very sad, like cows in line waiting at the slaughterhouse, because sooner or later their policy's are going to hurt you,
no knowing freedom comes from a genuine thought we are following the one, deep inside we truly believe would take us to the bloom we all deserve, without influence from a party!
And you are saying that the public wasn't fed up with the previous eight years?
One more comment-and this is to all of you. Please proofread your posts before posting them. You type like a bunch of chimps.
I agree with you Brad..Our government seems to have forgotten they work for the people and it is my belief that most of us are tired of having them try to blow smoke thinking the rest of us have no idea what they are up to. Our industrious leader has done anything but keep the promises he tried to make knowing he could not do them to begin with. And the very idea of taking so much from the elderly really stinks. I have asked myself many times where the government got the right to spend all the money so many millions of us have busted our rears to pay into social security only to be told there isn't any left. I could go on and on but somewhere somehow the American people need to wake up, smell the roses and stop accepting all the bull they are handing down to us expecting us to believe
The answer is quite simple. It is the fact that people are so damn lazy to look into any other type of group, or party that could challenge the 2 party status quo, so the Republicans, and Democrats continue to rule the roost, without any opposition, and no checks, or balances that our founding fathers wanted for US! Look back 200 + years, I am still amazed ANYONE, would argue for either party! We do need change, and the 2 party plague is not the answer. They have had 200 years to make it work, and it still hasn't happened, how much longer America, will you tolerate, their blatant disregard for the people?
demitrix,
You asked Brad, "Are you that ignorant?" Well I'll pose that same question to you. Do you actually believe that people are going to vote for the know it all name callers?
People see the problem and it is very much both parties. I am an Independent and I had no idea that people were as hateful as I see on these posts. The yes and no Congress is embarrassing.
Want to slam Obama then put up a name of who you support and watch what happens . The attack with no alternative is like the solid no vote with out a reason.
You see McCain speaking for the Republican party, is that going to be the one you support? Let's see he will be about 76 in 2012. How about Palin, do you actually believe people are going to vote for her?
Until you put up a name I wouldn't be calling anyone ignorant. Make a stand and see where your person stacks up.
First of all empirical evidence proves supply side Reagen and Bush supply side economics does not work by lowering the top marginal tax rate. It lowered the GNP. It only affects small businesses ten percent and would improve by 1% while investment by the rich 70% do not own businesses and no company increases investment anyways unless demand goes up. How can it today when many are not working or working for less. What works and proven is demand side by lowering the tax on the middle class who spend and raising the higher marginal rates like Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson and Clinton did while bring down the deficit by more consumption (Green) It improved the GNP and increased employment while increasing the tax base. However, our problem today is to many of our manufacturing jobs have been taken by cheap labor. We have to increase our tariff rates or demand Wal Mart and big box stores start carrying more American made products. Now 80% are overseas. To scream about taxes, how do you bring down the deficit that Bush started by taking away Clinton's smart move? Deregulation got us into this mess and we need to have better government with back to basic regulations on Wal Street and big banks and take away these 500 to 1 pay scales CEO's make. If do not change what does not work and extreme individualism vision is precisely the wrong prescription for our domestic and foreign affairs. We have a moral responsibility to stop this polarization and stop listening to talk radio emotional one sides views and start reading our history and economic books. I prefer an American made new green economic paradigm for our children. Shop local and buy American by reading the labels on the packaging and learn to say no and let people around you hear it.
I'm willing to bet that first graders on the playground could do a better job at getting a long and getting something - anything - done than all of DC right now.
It's sickening. I'll continue to vote Libertarian/Third Party, and I'll continue to abide by the law and pay taxes, but it's just pitiful. Just plan pitiful.
"Public’s anger isn’t directed at Obama."
Who says?
It's not Obama, it is the whole kitten cabootal! Republicans, Democrats, FBI, CIA, especially the courts system, basically the US Government needs to be replaced! We do that, we might have a chance for survival. By the way, I'm not holding my breath, LOL!
I have to wonder where this author is getting his facts and numbers.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 26% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -14
Thank you for telling us what 72% of us already know!! Both parties have set us up for failure and fail we have!! Big time. Contrary to the majority I feel that partisan infighting is the only thing that has kept either side from passing their stupid agendas!! I hope there's more since a lot of what recovery we've had has come as these knuckleheads duke it out over the Democrat's far left agenda. I hope to see many new faces on both sides of the aisle next year, and if they can get together and help our nation recover that would be great. If they can't and want to continue fighting that's okay too as long as neither side is successful in passing their agenda, we may be able to keep on recovering while they continue to fight!!
When 2010 comes...
REPLACE THEM ALL!!!
With NO party affiliation, either!
Though I do NOT frequent Faux News, (nor CNN, etc.), Justice Napolitano is correct. See the following video link for what he has to say regarding nullifying unconstitutional "law" by the state legislatures.

Wake up America!
bluecollarblogger I was just getting ready to bring that info over. Not sure who they polled but it was obviously not a good representation of the general public.
Wow, we need an article to tell us that people are fed up with the Federal government.
Record gun and ammo sales told me this story a year ago. I guess the MSM is finally getting it.
DAVE 1575 says it best 545 people are running your country! these are actually people who have made a career out of serving themselves.
please write in a local business person in your community if there is no independent on the ballot! YOU CAN WRITE IN SOMEONE, you dont have to choose between red or blue!
Interestingly, Rasmussen, which was far more accurate than NBC in polling for the elections in 2008, reports the President's approval as follows;
"Overall, 47% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. Fifty-three percent (53%) disapprove." His approval was about 68% when he took office. Also;
"The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 26% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -14"
When Obama took office, his Approval Index was +28%, which means that 42% of voters with a strong opinion of Obama have turned against him.
In addition, the Generic Congressional poll is as follows;
"The new national telephone survey shows that 46% would vote for their district’s Republican congressional candidate while 37% would opt for his or her Democratic opponent."
At the time of the 2008 elections, the Democrats held a 7% lead, which means that 16% of voters have changed their minds about supporting Democrats in Congress.
I wonder who we should believe? I think I'll go with the pollster that has consistently gotten it correct - Rasmussen.
Obama is around for three more years and nothing can be done so let's focus on getting the bums and deadbeats out of congress. Washington is stagnant because of the career politicians taking up space in the halls of congress and they are there because of no term limits. The self-serving attitude of the people we elect to make decisions for the common good is disgusting. The ONLY agenda any of them have is to get themselves re-elected and to enjoy as many perks as their office can get by with....Pelosi and her airplane! We MUST have the courage at the polls to get the career politicians OUT!!!
Oh yeah let's shake our fists at Washington and vote the bums out. Maybe instead of this endless cycle, we should look at who owns Washington to see what the problem is. The recent Suprem Court decision makes it even clearer, if that's possible, that Washington is just an extension of corporate power.
We can get mad at Obama and then get mad at the next guy, but things will be exactly the same.
Really??
Eric 913730, So NBC says their poll indicates republicans are the problem and you seem to be buying this hook, line and sinker. So this is why the dems lost kennedy's seat in the most liberal state in the union, the voters were blaming the republicans. Interesting?
Ha! It's about time!!!!!
At some point in time, BO has to accept responsibility for what's happening with the nation and the economy. If you're going to spend your entire first term blaming everyone but yourself, why did you take the job? Federal deficits----too high and out of control. National debt---too high and out of control. Is BO a part of Washington politics or not? How about if you're not the solution you're part of the problem? Folks don't like DC politics, but that doesn't go for BO? He's starting this middle class stuff again from a guy who made 5 million the year before he was elected. The system worked pretty good for him and he is not middle class. I don't think the overall public is going to buy into it again.
what I am fed up with and everyone should be is the BS coming from Republicans...out right lies and rhetoric whilw they sit on their asses collecting a paycheck and doing nothing but hindering! Ohh sorry and funding fox Nazi news station.
America will be the biggest group of retards in history if you wanted change and now vote for a Republican majority...how freaking stupid is that...?
What do we get with a Republican majority...the same idots who blew 13 trillion dollars and got us in this mess and 3 more years of them ston walling everything...then blaminb the Dems next thing you know Sarah Palins in office ad we will be the laughingstock of third world nations.
They will have to invent a new term...America...the first fourth world country
The Republicans have done nothing more than stonewall everything Obama is trying to do,they have not given him any kind of support at all from day one of his term. They'r only there for the rich people, the commen people don't count, who give a damn about the working people. They were the ones that run our economy in the ground, and now try to blame Obama for it.
Hmm...and the Democrats stand for "we the people" huh? I don't like either group, but I can see where the country gets divided when I see posts like these. It's like taking candy from a baby from a politicians standpoint. Just put on your red or blue jersey and scream, scream, scream.
It's our whole frickin' system...it is BOTH parties for goodness sake. Who in their right mind would blame one or the other. And so many just continue to feed the machine with their mind-numbing support of one party or the other, justifying their very existence. How about these morons get together and do something for us, rather than look for more crap to feed the media about the "competition." For the love of God, shouldn't they ACT like they're on the same team? Their goal should be doing what is right for us through debate and compromise...NOT pitting blue against red and going all out trying to point fingers at people. Pelosi is a prime example as Gingrich was before her.
I watch them talk and want to give them a napkin to wipe the crap out of the corners of their mouths.
No recovery, no jobs, so the blame lies somewhere. Obama and his gang are running the show.
Blame China and India for stealing all the jobs. We're the ones buying all the merchandise the Chinese make. Seems to me, Obama needs to crackdown on buying foreign products. Add a small trariff on every product they ship here to pay down the federal debt.
Gentlemen, BO has had both a Senate and house majority. All he has to do is carry his own party completely. He can't do it. The Republicans have threatened to filibuster, but I don't believe they've done it yet on anything. Reid is struggling to save his seat. Pelosi will get re-elected, but should the majority change she may lose her speaker's position. Both parties are seeing retirements en masse. This is going to be a good election for us. We'll get a chance to cast more meaningful votes than we've had in awhile. There should be a lot of ticket splitters this year. It'll be interesting.
The poll was taken at the White House party.
ATTABOY, MARK, you job with NBC should be safe for another week or so, you might even get a nice big bonus from GE when they are awarded all those green contracts.
don't look now but you lost your objectiveness somewhere between college and now and your political bias is showing. You should probably stop with the cheerleading and get back to reporting objectively on the conditions facing the United States, because the world you live in is no where near reality.
So I was right, jobs ARE more important than health care. This article is not all that good, the interpretation of the data is a bit on the free side. I do agree with the other posters who do not agree with the title. I, as well, know no one who is happy with Obama. Those who voted for him in the election have abandoned him as well.
Yes, the behind doors government health care, it should be thrown out it is an albatross. We the people do NOT want it, we do not want Reid and Pelosi too.
Fed up. Yes.
I agree Stop, they just can't admit that the public's anger is toward Obama and his agenda. Sooner than later, they will have no choice but to put the blame where the blame lies. It the top!
Talk about statistical abuse. Eight hundred people polled does not represent the views of 200,000,000. Who knows where they took their polls. The people of this country should be angry with the way congress operates and hopefully there will be actual representation of America's citizens rather than corporate representation but with the new ruling by the Supreme Court concerning no limits on campaign donations from corporate america the mess is only getting worse. Wake up congress or you may find yourselves worrying about job security, having a place to live and being able to take care of your families like the rest of us. If congress hasn't gotten this message yet they are indeed hopeless and useless.
Wow, a true poll about what the people believe but not what the wingnuts want to hear...This is a first! This will bring out the screechers for sure!
This needs to get to the WHOLE CONGRESS!
Am doing a cut and paste to all the nets and cable outlets--will see if it gets coverage...What do you want to bet ratface Cantor will be on to twist in the wind with lies and distortion!
Had a disconnect here:
But Republicans continue to enjoy a significant enthusiasm advantage. Voters who are most interested in November’s midterms prefer a Republican-controlled Congress by a 49-41 percent margin.
Does that mean that they ask 2 more questions to determine this..1. Are you very interested in the November elections..and 2. are you republican? Seems that is the only way to come to the enthusiasm advantage!
bry33 "The recent Suprem Court decision makes it even clearer, if that's possible, that Washington is just an extension of corporate power."
Over the last several years, Corporations have spent about $950 million on Republican candidates, and about $940 million on Democratic candidates, while unions and their cohorts have spent about $600 million on Democratic candidates and about $70 million on Republican candidates.
What really upsets Obama and the liberals is that the Democratic candidates spending advantage might be diluted and spending might be more balanced.
Anybody with even half a brain knows for a fact everybody will look at the job picture more than health care. However they are related. We have to knuckle down and fix health care or all the rest is mute. Since Bush took office with his merry men there has been a steady decline in wages and an accelerated climb in the health care costs which is a deadly situation.
The right wing nut cases complaining and inciting people to blame the President were very silent in the last recession when they were in power and the same thing happened.....This one was worse and worldwide. Read this....
C'MON REPUBS WHERE ARE YOUR POSTS IN RESPONSE TO THIS POST BY WCRITIQUING? LET'S HEAR IT. YOU HAVE SO MUCH DAMN SHT TO SAY ABOUT THE DEMOCRATS. WHY IGNORE IT? C'MON LET'S HEAR WHAT YOU BIG MOUTHS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS? ANYBODY?????
Judd Alan Gregg (born February 14, 1947) member of the Republican Party. He would be up for re-election in 2010.[5]
On November 20, 2009, Gregg vowed to block any legislation put forth that would provide transparency at the Federal Reserve by performing a complete audit.
Gregg stated, "I would not vote for any bill and I would filibuster any bill that had this language in it."
In the Senate Gregg was the leading Republican negotiator and author of the TARP program, which bailed out financial institutions, while he had a multi-million dollar investment in the Bank of America..[26][27][28]
uh.. I blame all of Washington period. ALL POLITICIANS.. REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS. They do nothing but argue back and forth and deliver NADA! They don't care about the people they only care about their pockets and power. If they truly cared about America and the people they would stop the bickering and do what is right for our country and Americans.
Let's face it. They collect campaign donations from Corporate America, special interest groups, lobbyists etc. Therefore, when in office their only priority is to repay those who placed them in office. That's it.
They sound like pre-schoolers: The republicans won't work with us. The democrats won't work with us and they use it as an excuse for not delivering squat to the people. Enough is enough. Do the job you were elected to do and stop the F*(&( whining Washington!
The last administration did major damage and this one is just following suit.
Time to enact term limits and eliminate campaign funding.
I think you may be underestimating statistics...how many people polled to predict the elections?
Statistically speaking, and depending on the audience and your cross segment, 300 is all you really need to get a good reading. 800 (making sure of the right age/race/party splits) are more than enough to indicate the entire nation. I know it sounds weird, but 800 is a pretty large sample size...statistically speaking. It's where they got Bush's bad numbers too.
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2010/jan/25/carolyn-maloney/congresswoman-says-democratic-presidents-create-mo/
Brad, up top your right. This politifact article shows how Dems have been three times more successful at creating private sector jobs than Repubs.
The only poll that counts will come in November of 2010.
In the meantime, the politicians are free to "spin" the polls as much as they want to deceive themselves.
Any poll that says that they like Obama personally is probably corrupted by Political Correctness (nobody wants to be called a racist), so they'll lie to the pollster. You cannot separate a politician from his policies.
Hey remember this is all Bush's and the Republicans' fault.
Dave-1575, you hit the nail on the head! If you run, I'm voting for you!
With no disrespect meant to any poster who made a typographical error or didn't use spellcheck, I have to respond to Bruce Stratton's comment 2.20
Hey Bruce, lighten up and have a banana. And thanks for caring !
800 people sampled in the poll?
Why not have MORE transparency and let US vote?
I think you would find the results a bit MORE negative !
Unbiased poll? It certainly does not reflect the current mood of the country.
dont you mean it doesnt reflect the mood on fox? its only the fox hounds that feel that way believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree Brad the poll doesn't jive with FOX, but it does jive with Americans.
or positive,,,who know's,,,,
brad-530094.....
You sure do make a lot of comments about Fox, so I highly suspect that you have your TV remote programmed to hit the #1 (or is that #2 as you have to do with your telephone) to watch Fox.news every day to keep abreast on what the other news channels are failing to report on.
Guess you have to focus more attention and comments to the Net neutrality and the Fairness Doctrine legislation. Your views and lack of any facts on this article is failing on deaf ears.
And I suppose you are going to say that the figures in this article does not reflect what the public majority thinks about our elected officials in Washington.
It wasn't just on Fox Brad, it was on NBC and ABC.
Johnjohn, according to NBC the ruling party Democrats receive 48% of the blame while the party with no power Republicans, receive 41% of the blame seems unlikely to me this would be the case.
Since Obama is a Democrat we will take 27% of his unfavorable rating and add it to his parties rating and you will get a more accurate reading of 75%, why break it up they are still on the same team.
Thomas Allen "Tom" Coburn, M.D. (born March 14, 1948),Ordained Southern Baptist deacon. A member of the Republican Party, he currently serves as U.S. Senator from Oklahoma.
Coburn has used the special hold [ and earning a reputation for his use ] privilege to prevent several bills from coming to the Senate floor.[56] For example, in November 2009 Coburn drew considerable attention for placing a hold on a veterans' benefits bill known as the "Veterans’ Caregiver and Omnibus Health Benefits Act".[59][60] The bill included new penalties for child pornography[63] The bill never made it.
Coburn is affiliated with a religious organization called The Family. Coburn lives in one of the Family's dormitories when in Washington, D.C., with Senator John Ensign
John John they may have polled that percent where his buds are but if we all got to vote at once he would be about 20% percent popular at best...i am one who despises what he has done to my country and our young servicemen and women.
all ways an idiot. I actually got this site from that idiot LmarcT pointing out how great President Obama is.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/president_obama_job_approval-1044.html
Go ahead and refute what America wants. Go look at healthcare.
Wcritiquing, how soon you forget, remember Obama's words to our SOLDIERS, when he asked them to "find their own Health Care". It's garbadge like this from our so called Commander in Chief, that pisses me off. Remember?
Why not just fire basically everyone who works for the Federal Government? I have never been helped by anyone in the Federal Government, have you?
They have gotten just to BIG and expensive, outdated. With modern computer technology, we the people could do all the voting on items that matter to us most - cheaper, faster, better! The majority of the population would be the new decision makers as to whats best for ourselves.
Hell unemployment would be 60%.
Where do they get these 800 people? Are they pre-screened as were the participants in the Obama rebuff town hall meetings where they made damn sure that everyone with the exception of about 5-10 people were on Obama's side and would not give him any trouble? The Dems were calling us Tea Partiers names and laughing at us...i.e. Unamerican, tea baggers, right-winged terrorists, red necks, and the list goes on. Wonder if they are laughing now with the two governor elections and the Massachusettes Masacre. The Silent Majority suddenly woke up ... and decided to take a stand for our children and grandchildren's future. These nutcakes in Congress are crazy. I love the way they tell everyone that Tea partiers are an organized bunch of crazies, but they send in their SEIU people to demonstrate on the other side of the street for the Obamacare, and they are paying them to do so. These people are soooo far out of touch with anyone...I can't believe that they can even listen to each other (the liberals that is) We don't need a third party, we need new conservatives like Scott Brown. The Democrats got a supermajority and they felt like they were the Nazi's and wanted to completely take over our country. If you love your country, without regard to your race or sex...get involved...get into the The Founders Alliance and the Independence Caucus, both of whom are working across state lines in this election year. We will make ours and your voices heard this November. Frank, Reid, Pelosi, Murtha, Waxman, Boxer, Schumer, Specter, Rangle, Nelson, Landieu, and anyone else in the Senate that sold their souls for money is running that had the audicity to vote for Obama Care needs to be unemployed. It is time to replenish Washington with new faces and new ideas and new people who will serve "we the people" like they are supposed to do.
Boy, if we could just get Obama out. And then we can get angry at the next pres and vote him/her out. Such progress.
Think maybe it's time people to focus a bit more on who has owned Washington for some time now. The latest Supreme Court ruling has made this clear fact even clearer.
Every admin, be it Clinton, Bush, or Obama serves the corporate masters.
Charles: Why don't you help me and refresh my memory? what about a link ?
wrong!
Gather around Liberals... gather around....
Lets give homage to our faithful leader and new messiah OBAMA with this song of praise:
Ummmmmm Ummmmmmm Ummmmm... itttsss buuush's fauullllt!! itttsss buuush's fauullllt!! itttsss buuush's fauullllt!!
ummmmmmmmm!
Ummmmmmmmm!
Ummmmmm!
itttsss buuush's fauullllt!!
itttsss buuush's fauullllt!! itttsss buuush's fauullllt!!
Here's a fun game. Get some beer..... ( I suggest a 30 pack) .. and everytime the previous admistration is brought up during the state of the union speech, take a drink.
Great post Wanda M.!

Wcritiquing: 3/11/09 "Veterns Groups Blast Obamas plan for Private Insurance to pay for Service Related Health Care", would save the government $540 billion dollars.
Well finally the LAME STREAM MEDIA gets the message!
Yes, we're SICK OF IT. The corruption is sickening. Washington and the MSM!!!
I heard Obama is taking over FedEx and UPS.
The new company will be FedUP.
Figures.
Let's hope they can "overnight" this administration back to their holes.
They finally have it right....we are fed up with Washington. Both parties are corrupt and need to go. All 535 members of congress need to go. Instead of fixing Haiti they better start fixing the ecomony here at home.
nov.will be an interesting month indeed!!!! there will be soooooooooo many dem's out of a job!!! just like us!!!!i just hope they cant collect ui bennies!
dems out of a job food housing we might see them at the free food places the rest of the homeless jobless hungry Americans go they are no better to suffer tan we are.
I agree! All 535 need to go. That's the only way to show all current and future members that the American people will not stand by and have our government refuse to truly represent "We the people ...". I just hope there are more than just the same old Republicans and Democrats ready to take their places. If there is a large enough turnover this November we should start to see immediate changes ... fear can do that. Anyone foolish enough to try to make a last minute grab for cash (before the 2012 election to finish the job) by selling us out should be put in prison.
This is a chance for "minor" parties and individuals to prepare to take their places in November 2010 and 2012. It shouldn't take "big money" to win this time either. As a matter of fact, people who seem to have spent the most on their campaigns (frequent commercials on major networks and slick pamplets every couple of days in the mail) should AUTOMATICALLY lose. When we see those types of things we need to ask ourselves where that money came from and how much more they'll be willing to take from big money special interest groups once they get to D.C.
Yup, I am not voting for incumbents or any at all.
Please please please everyone vote Libertarian or maybe any third party.
But as Americans, as decent-hardworking, taxpaying Americans, let's do something. Let's form the "American Party" and vote every single demo and repub out in 2010.
I think pretty much anyone with at least a 3rd grade education could do a better job. Our government is an embarrassment around the world.
libertarian or third party ?
just like that !? !?
Why not some research before give them our votes ? ? ? we can pick the best.
If people in Connecticut would know where Lieberman stand ..............
There are a slew of other parties out there, several "american" parties of one sort or another, several "socialist" parties of one sort or another...Wiki has a whole list of them and briefs on platforms and candidates. Do your research if you decide to break away from main party lines. I'm still looking for the Bourbon Whiskey and Sex Party, though.
Apparently everyone on Capitol Hill knows where they're at...
Polls are only as valuable as the questions they ask. For example if asked "how many like what is happening in Washington right now", what do you believe that number would be? Another question would be, "how many are satisfied with Congress?". Again what would that answer be? One final question "do you approve of what President Obama has accomplished to date"?
How would I answer those questions, No, I do not like what is happening in Washington right now, No, I am not satisfied with Congress, and No, I do not approve of what President Obama has accomplished to date.
That gives you three NOs but does not give you the reason or an alternative for my NOs.
These polls don't give you the opportunity to give your opinion unless in falls into their options. Do I like what is going on in Washington right now, NO. I believe we are being played like fools by both parties. Unfortunately that is not an answer that they pre-selected. Am I satisfied with Congress, NO. I believe the straight party vote is both counter productive to any possibility of helping fix our current problems and is a complete embarrassment to any thinking person. Again not an answer. Do I approve of what Obama has accomplished to date, NO. Do I believe anyone else could have done a better job given the situationand and previous questions, NO, again not a pre-selected answer. Could John McCain have fixed the problems, NO, could Sarah Palin have fixed the problem by now, NO. Do I know of anyone who could have fixed the problems given the actions by Congress, NO. Again not pre-selected answers.
Those of you that want to continue to blame a party or a person put names instead of general questions in your response and see what these same polls do to your opinion.
Congress is TOTALLY corrupt, they make the Mafia look like choir boys. They have the unmitigated gall to tell you they work for us.Tell me what company employees vote their own raises, vote their own retirement plans, vote their own expense accounts, vote their own health insurance plan, and can be exempt from being tax evaders?
The Congretional scumbags MUST be voted out with very few exceptions. If they wont vote for a maximum eight year term, lets do it for them in November, lets show them that WE ARE THE BOSS,they work for us,not we for them.
We the people who go to work everyday,we the people who pay our mortgages every month,we the people who pay taxes every week,we the people whose ancestors came to this country to become Americans, who were proud to learn to read and speak the language,we who served our country when called on,we who were taught to respect our teachers, our parents, the police, each other--this is OUR COUNTRY; and no piece of s--t,pandering politician is going to take it away from us----UNLESS YOU LET THEM.
Ron,
I agree! They want to act like damn fools voting straight party on every issue that pertains to us but not them, let's treat them like fools and impose our version of term limits.
The new Senator from Mass. vote was counted before he heard one word of the issues at hand. Not only that he had 4 million dollars left in his campaign coffers after the election. How many here actually believe that money come solely from the State that elected him? Had it been the Democrat elected it would have been exactly the same.
For more trustworthy polls...
"The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 26% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -14."
Gallup has his job approval at 48%.
if you believe that crap then you must think that fox news is #1...ha ha ha maybe in idaho!!!!!
Rassmussen does not count youth voters that usually vote democratic that is why their ratings are always 2 to 3 points lower.
brad and eric - are you having a joint hallucination?
Rasmussen predicted Obama would be beat out Hillary for the nomination. Rasmussen called the general election closer than any other poll, handing Obama the win. Now that Rasmussen is not getting numbers favorable to Obama, it is a Faux right-wingnut poll.
brad, brad, brad.....
See my post #3.5.
Them there polls.....They fix everything.....
The hard part is getting good people to put up with the political BS to run for office. Sad, but Washington is such a sesspool, that the people we actually need there don't want to go.
Dave....the hard part is you have to be rich to run for office.
I really dont think they dont want to go, but rather they can't afford to go. People need to see where the money comes from and vote against those funded by big companies.
Why not vote against those that are funded by BIG Unions, marco???
marco,
What say you about Obama's big contributors being AIG and the UAW? Coincidentally, got the bailouts, the bonuses and became part owners of a couple of car companies. Look at both sides of the playing field, the big picture. And then tell me you like what you see.
Maybe it's not just that you gotta raise (or have) big bucks to run for office that scares folks off.
Maybe it's also the hatchet job you can be SURE the other side will do on you. If you smoked pot back in the 1960s, for example, I hope you inhaled and liked it because when the spin doctors get done with you, it's going to sound like you smoked a couple pounds of weed last night.
Nobody with any sense is going to endure something like that...except for a select few with absolutely no shame (we call them Congress, regardless of party). Obama may be taking deserved hits in his approval rating, but the main problem IS Congress, and has been for a loooooonnggggg time...
70% of those polled disapprove of Washington...makes you wonder what's wrong with the other 30%.
Those 30% are the Devil's Advocates that just go against the grain to stir trouble.!!!!!
The other 30% work for the government.
Billy .....the other 30% are those who got the bailout money.
The other 30% are the Republican lobbyists that get to write the laws...
Sorry, I meant big-business lobbyists.
Oh wiat - what's the difference?
You left out Unions!!!!
The other 30% are just all liquored up.
And I'm not a drinking man, but every day I watch the disgusting machinations in DC and I think a drink...no, a pitcher of margaritas, might make even me give a positive rating.
Jcbwell, lets devide your 30% up equally between Democrats and Republicans. Like 27% of Democrats stole from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mack, while the other 3% were Republicans. Fuzzie math?. Makes sense to me.
If they really want to fix health care why don't they start with getting rid of the trial lawyers...the drug companies...and all the special interest groups. And start with medicare....get all the corruption out. They are all crooked and don't care about anyone but themselves.
Because the lawyers(most of Congress) write the laws after meeting with the drug companies, special interests groups (Unions) and Obama and his staff in closed or behind door meetings that are Obama's version of true transparency.
Simple is as simple does.
Vote all incumbants out in November for CHANGE YOU CAN REALLY BELIEVE IN and back it up with a final cleansing in 2012. Send a message to Washington America. They'll listen after that.
EXACTLY!!!!.
that last week union crap where they aren't taxed for "their" cadillac plans but the rest of us are? Didn't that happen behind CLOSED DOORS in a meeting with the BIG O himself??
Yep need to buy those votes.... why not go the cheaper route and actually say no a couple of times... when I don't have money I don't spend it. Why is this such a hard lesson for congress to learn??
Diogenes is still looking for an honest man...
The system isn't corrupt, the people in the system are. Where do you find incorruptable people? How do you keep corrupted people out? If you actually elect someone who's honest, how do you keep them that way?
Reducing the size of government reduces political hiding places and forces individual responsibility. That scares politicians. Why do you think politicians want to grow government? Safety in numbers.
The press once again trying to spin Obama prior to his state of the union. Here is the truth, the state of the union stinks. Stop blaming everything on where we were last year, because it is now much worse. The programs and bailouts are not making things better. Time to move forward, vote everyone out and let the people's voice be heard. Can not wait to hear what old BO says. Looks like he wants the media to have all our outrage on the House and Senate. Well guess what, the White House has been calling all the shots on bills, closed door meetings, etc. Clean Sweep - here it comes!
ya vote them out and replace them....with exact replica's!!!give it up!!
Your ,,,,to much, to much! LOL
This 50 yr Old "Good Ole Boy" System has to be Stopped and Eliminated. I got tired of Writing and Screaming to My Congressman, just to be ignored and annoyed by them. I joined GOOOH.com to work on Replacing Career Politicans with Real Everyday Citizens. Let's get Real Candidates on the 2010 Ballots. Action by We the People as a Nation is the ONLY Way to get control over Congress again. Watch Pelosi's Botox Cheeks Tighten When We make a Stand, Step up with Our OWN Candidates, and Throw All 435 Under the Bus.
what i said is both sides have been bought and paid for by big business and now we all know it to be true. The only way this can be stopped is to end the whole donation process altogether. Maybe i should set down my tool belt and figure this one out for everyone but then who would build america? oh thats right unions are bad and i and the rest of the middle class need to go. we will take with us the 8 hr workday, overtime, and everyone's favorite the weekend! BOTH SIDES HAVE BEEN PURCHASED! remember all wages are compared to what the skilled worker(union apprenticeship original 4yr degree)makes doing same work and when we are gone so is america. say what you want about my hate for fox i really do think anyone who believes that crying idiot or schuck'so'reily needs help. most of the readers on the vine couldn't pack my lunch let alone my tool belt(ironworker #86)most have never been across a suspension bridge let alone build one(510ft off water)i work farther off the ground than most get from their front door and all in the name of building this country.working on the docks moving container cranes around the world ive seen for years the ships leave with less and less until almost all leave without anything on deck.we make nothing and buy china's crap by design(why they lend us money)
Anger isn’t directed at Obama???
Mine is and I voted for him; he is doing NOTHING of what he said he would do before getting elected. I can not trust him any more. Why did he change? Is he getting paid off?
I made a big mistake when I voted.
Mine (anger) isn't....remember the snake pit he's in. ...remember what a few supreme court judges just did....it seems most of Washington are grabbing for whatever they can...the people of this country be damned. We know who they are...vote them out.
The "powers" that be... or want to be... have known that Obama's popularity is his strong point...and they have not liked that...good to see their tactics aren't working.
Starkat, you must be blind and deaf! Are you not aware of how his popularity helped the demo candidates in Virginia, New Jersey and MA? Obama is popular only in your mind. To the a huge majority of the people, Obama destroyed his popularity and spent all his political capital trying to forced that horrible healthcare disaster on the American people, and lying and lying and lying.
C. Stough
To say "the President has done nothing of what he said he would do", has discredited you from being taking serious.
no it hasn't
I feel these polls are a joke, are they telling us that 800 people who were polled are a majority of the people?
Where was the poll taken?
If you want a real poll it should be at 10,000 people from around the country not in one locality.
I believe this poll was taken in the Obama household which included various family members, relatives, and friends.
Standard polling procedures were followed, I'm sure they polled from across the country. There of course will be a margin of error, but 800 is a significant sample.
I agree with you; then we will see that the President has a much higher approval rating.
higher, i think not.
What I found interesting was the poll said 48% blamed the Republicans for the failures of Congress and only 41% blamed the Democrats...and yet the Democrats CONTROL Congress. If the Democrats truly wanted a bill to be passed, they could override ANY objection the Republicans could mount against it.
So why do the Republicans get the bigger blame? Hmmmmm...could it be because most of the mainstream media have made them out to be objectors and obstructionists? I have noticed time and time again, especially during the "universal health care" debacle, that the media constantly played up the fact that Republicans were against the bill...but hardly a word was spoken about the Democrats having the voting power to override any objections the Repubs made.
The power of perception is an amazing thing isn't it? More people blame the Repubs than the Dems, and yet the Dems hold all the voting power.
Wow. How illogical is that?
for one year they have had congress and repugs had everything their way for 8!!! and repugs dont want anything that helps people only business's
Exactly Dragon. They are also always pointing to the "fact" that the Reps. have not put forth any alternatives, they just say "NO". That also is not true. They have pointed out their alternatives many times but the MSM ignores that part of it. Even so, they all deserve to be voted out. There are only about 4 or 5 Reps. that I know of that I would fight to keep. That's total, House and Senate.
I wish we could vote out the MSM while we're at it. Bunch of worthless a$$ ki$$ers if you ask me. Especially MSNBC.
Good Grief Brad. Are you one of the moochers that doesn't want to work for a living? Businesses are the ones that give people jobs, then pay them for their work so they can buy things, like computers so they can go on line and say stupid things like you just did.
Republicans are obstructionists.
brad,
You're a typical idealogue, living in the past and ignoring the present.
First off, "for one year they have had congress"...ummmm so what? What have they done in that year? Nothing, except spend, spend, spend. Our economy is not better now. Our unemployment level is even higher. Our debt has skyrocketed.
"repugs have had everything their way for 8!!" Again...so what? The "repugs" as you call them do not have any power now. So why haven't the Democrats been able to get anything done?
Oh wait, I know. It's because they can't even agree on a specific agenda within their OWN PARTY!
And by the way brad, saying the "repugs don't want anything that helps people, only businesses" proves you know nothing about history or about the Republican Party.
You're another idealogue kool-aid drinker who simply parrots what he hears.
Eric,
Ummmm...and Democrats aren't? Either side, when it is the minority in power, plays the obstructionist when a bill comes up that it seriously disagrees with.
I KNOW you aren't going to try and say that Democrats didn't attempt to obstruct Republican proposals during the 8 years of the Bush Administration, when Republicans were the majority in power.
You can't possibly be that big of a hypocrite...although anything is possible I suppose.
Brad let me ask you something, if we didn't have the taxes paid by big businesses where do you think the money should come from to help people? The middle class can't be the only ones to carry the weight to pay for all the social programs. Especially since the rich aways seem to find ways to pay less taxes then the rest of us. Just wondering since you seem to have an opinion on everything.
Good Job Idaho. You'll notice that none of Brads statement contain facts, only opinions. And we know how much vale should be placed on an opinion freely and anonymously offered. Stick with facts and continue to confound the lefties.
Because the Republicans have come up with one idea, that is to object to everything Obama does regardless of what it is,even to the point of hurting the people more than they are ready are hurting. That's a hell of a good reason to blame them more. They have not contributed one single thing to help the country out of this hole that they,,,"the Republicans" got us into while they were in power. Republicans have had one objective since Obama beat their candidate, that is to make him fail at any cost.
bobr,
Your comments show that you are either extremely uninformed or are just another idealogue who doesn't even bother to listen to anything the other side says.
Republicans had multiple alternatives towards attempting to fix the health care issue in this country, yet the Democrats ignored their ideas. Republicans had other alternatives towards fixing the unemployment and economic problems, but the Democrats ignored them on those too.
If you actually bothered to do a little research, you might find out what they were. Whether you disagree with them or not is another story, but at least then you couldn't sit there and say they never attempted to make any contributions.
Try doing some research and utilize a little critical thinking before you make comments that you can't back up.
Brad , you apparently don't know much about Congress or history . The Dems have controlled Congress for the last three years. I guess you were asleep two of them, and Obama was one of them the whole time. They stopped the attempts to control Fannie and Freddie, voted for all war escalations and pressured Bush not to sign the final stimulus bill so Obama could which he did and it is a complete failure. Not that I support any of the present Repubs there, they all need to go,along with Bernarke and his Goldman Sachs representatives that control our money.
Idaho,,,,seeing you "think" you know it all there is no talking to you,,,just like the Republicans that continue to say no to anything and everything. I would widen my views if i were you,,a little more listening to others other than Fox and Rush would do wonders for you. oh,,I do a lot of research, i have nothing better to being retired. I'm glad to see you think your such a scholar on politics,,is that all you own opinion?
bobr,
Considering the fact that I don't watch Fox News or listen to Rush Limbaugh, I'm not worried about widening my views. I look for the truth.
You said that Republicans did nothing but say "No" to all Democrat proposals, and yet you ignore the fact that the Democrats said "No" to all Republican proposals (tort reform, medicare/medicaid reform, etc.).
I think you're the one who needs to widen your views, since you made such an all-encompassing statement that I have proven false. My opinions are my own, though I could ask you if yours are since you made a typical liberal comment about the Republicans, while at the same time failing to being intellectually honest enough to apply the same scrutiny towards the Democrats.
Personally I don't give a damn about either party. I think they're BOTH totally screwed up. But at least I am intellectually honest enough to apply the same scrutiny to both sides.
Are you?
Is it because we the people see what the Republicans are trying to do, or because the Republicans are the party of "No." Is it because we see more hatred coming from the Republicans, and the unwillness to work across party lines.
I pray that Scott Brown is true to his word, and be willing to work with the President and not against him. Maybe he will set a good example for the other Republicans to follow.
just pointing out that they are the same on both sides and while all of you argue about what and how it continues
Which part of "NO!" dont the Dems in D.C. understand? I swear. Its like dealing with retarded kids.
Hahaha! I agree and spoiled little brats at that!
During the Mass senate race, the Daily Kos had Coakley getting 50% of the votes while the Rasmussen poll had her getting 46%. Rasmussen had it right. Now, a NBC poll has Obama's job approval rating at 50% while the Gallup poll has him at 46%. Do you see a pattern here?
I'm sure if you compared all the polls that rasmussen and gallup had in common you would see that Rasmussen polls lower all the time. That is because they only poll 21 and older. So the youth vote that votes democratic traditionally is not part of their surveys.
DC is a toilet, let's flush it. Simply vote out every incumbant in office. If they could do anything they would have. So it's time to elect a new batch of future criminals, and next election, vote them out too. If we do this for a couple of elections we might actually get a government that responds to the people.
Plan B is simply to start the "Independent Party" and elect enough populist candidates to upset the DC balance of terror and corruption.
We need to get rid of the republicans and and the democrats and let every damn one of them run on their own merit and when the screw up they're gone. Then they can't hide behind the party name.
Now that's something i'll vote for! Oh wait,,you said their own merits? that narrows the field quite a lot. And i talk about BOTH sides, Democrats and Republicans.
The only difference between a Dem and a Repub is how you spell the party name. Both are sub-titles of the STUFF MY POCKETS party.
I think the next election for the President and Vice President should be Jesse Ventura and Sarah Palin, both are down home folks and know what this country needs.
Look at what Jesse did for Minnesota. and look what happened when he left and the good old boys took over again.
Sarah held higher secret classifications than some of our politicians held and hold now.
mopar-sarah does not know what a classification is. Obviously you never really listened to her speak.
She's as dumb as a stone and needs to go back school.
If she weighed 300 lbs and had no front teeth, you would not give her a second look.
I think I just heard Jesse's head explode...
Mopar, Sarah would put Ted under a ROCK and make him eat dirt.
Jesse Ventura for President? That's not a bad idea, if he could also get a Congress devoid of the business-as-usual crowd that promptly messed Minnesota back up after he left office...
Leave Sarah Palin right where she is...please!!
The government has stopped working because Republicans will not compromise on anything. The Republicans have stopped the government by being their ability to fillibuster anything that a democrat does. Reublicans are destroying the united States.
Tim
70% feel that Washington is screwed up.
Are you part of the 30% with brain damage.
Tha is so true Tim remember we put them in office and we can get them out of office.
No offense, but you're an idiot if you didn't realize that the Democrats can pass anything without the Republicans and almost did with the Health Care Plan until America VOTED for Brown. The Democrats wouldn't even listen to ANYTHING the Republicans had to say about the bill. They just wanted to pass Obama's agenda, and pass it QUICK (without evaluating the consequences of what it would do to our health care system & economy).
The dems are idiots for even attempting to pass a 3,000 page Obamacare when NO ON understood the bill, not even congress or the senate.
tim,
The Republicans couldn't play the filibuster card till Brown won Mass. last week. What are you talking about? Even as it was, Obama had to buy votes. Enjoying the view from the boat the Dems have you on?
Ummmm Tim?
The Republicans do not have enough seats in the Senate to filibuster anything.
So much for your argument. Try doing a little more research and a little less acting like a trained parrot.
We need a government. A functional government.
The Republicans have made it their mantra that the government can't do anything right. When elected, they appoint incompetent fraternity brothers to jobs they are not qualified to hold (remember "Heck of a job Brownie?")
So when their incompetence is revealed (Katrina), it's confirmed the government can't do anything right. Self-fulfilling prophecy.
When the Republicans can actually discuss reasonable governance, and fulfill theri responsibilities under this premise, then I'll consider listening to what they have to say. Until then, forget it.
Idaho Dragon:
The current composition of the Senate is 59 Democrats and 41 Republicans. It takes 60 votes to break a filibuster (sans special parliamentary prcocedures which are rarely invoked). So I'd say the Republicans DO have ability to filibuster anything. Maybe it's YOU that should do some research before inserting foot in mouth? I'm just sayin' . . . .
FedUp46,
And how long have they had 41 Republicans? A few days?
My comment was in regards to all the liberals blaming the Republicans for "filibustering" everything over the last year.
The Democrats had a filibuster-proof majority until just a few days ago. So maybe YOU should do a little more research or at least utilize a little critical thinking so you don't insert YOUR foot in YOUR mouth.
I'm just sayin...
Amen!
Senator Brown has not even been sworn in yet. Until Senator Brown is sworn in the republicans will remain at 40. The democrats are stalling to swear Senator elect Brown into his seat because they are angry and mift at the Republican win and the democrat loss.
PS, to the Idaho Dragon, go get a fifth grade civics book and see what
the legislative process is. You're making an idiot of yourself. You must be
a Palin supporter..
Hey Ex-Banker,
Why don't you make a rational argument instead of indulging in name calling and insults like a 5 year old?
I realize that's probably too difficult for someone like you, but do try. The only idiot I see here is you.
Ex-Boner, Beiben sie mich. Please ensure that your posts include no facts, just defamatory and irrelevant comments. I wonder why you are a former banker. that was rhetorical.
I'll second that Banker,,,Idaho seems to think he's a legend in his own time,,but then again that's the Republican way.
bobr,
And being nothing more than an insulting human being seems to be the Democrat way...or at least your way huh?
Maybe you and Ex-Banker should get together and learn some manners. I questioned your intellectual honesty in regards to a statement that you made, nothing more.
If you want to be insulting, feel free. It just makes you look childish and immature.
And your continued know it all attitude tells me what kind of person you are. Who are you to tell me that i don't research enough and to tell me that your opinion is the gospel truth,,it's your opinion and yours only,,i have mine. Is it OK for you only to insult? is that what you think is your privilege? Here's one last insult then ,,sick one of those great potato's grown in Idaho in your overgrown ego, if there's room for it.
And so your response is to come back with more insults and rants?
My claim that you don't research enough was based specifically on your comment that Republicans "have not contributed one single thing to help the country out of this hole that they,,,"the Republicans" got us into while they were in power". This comment is factually untrue. It is not an opinion, it is a fact.
Republicans had several proposals regarding different current issues (health care reform, the economy, etc) that were rejected out of hand by Democrats, so they DID in fact attempt to contribute, but were rejected by the Democrat majority.
Again, this is not my opinion, it is a fact. Look up proposed bills in the House and Senate for the last year if you don't feel like believing me. The proof is there. If you don't want to know the truth, that's not my problem.
My comments about your lack of research were specifically in regards to YOUR comments. If you took offense at that, you have my apology. It was not meant to be personal, but to point out that your comment was factually wrong and, in my opinion, showed a lack of research. As I said before, I am interested in the truth, not idealogy.
If you want to say that Republicans haven't exactly been bending over backwards towards working with the Democrats, I would definitely agree with you. But you said they have contributed nothing, and that is factually untrue and intellectually dishonest.
Feel free to insult me some more if it makes you feel better, but don't expect me to take you seriously until you make some comments to logically argue your position.
"Only 27% blame Obama"......How can this be? Isn't he the president? Shouldn't he be responsible or is he only the front man for the democrats and people dont blame him like they wouldn't blame a simpleton used by the bullies.
I also wonder what the question was to get such a result. Everything is in how you ask the question.
The question was: Do you blame Bush for Obama's screw ups?
Actually, do you blame Bush for lack of regulation, lack of oversight, an irresponsible and unfunded war, tax breaks for the wealthiest, and an atmosphere of privelege and entitlement?
Obama has chosen the wrong priorities, but he did inherit an unmitigated disaster!
...yes...the inherit argument will be used over and over again...for bad policy...to make things worse...
patriot tom,
The song remains the same.
ONLY Kings and Families "Inherit" Things or Problems. Obama campaigned for over 2 yrs and PAID over 900 Million to be President because.......He WANTED THE POSITION and THE POWER. His Whole Campaign was Nothing More than a Hateful "Smear Bush" Act based on Emotions, Fear & Lies, NOT Fact. IF It's too much of a Challenge for Obama to Comprehend, Handle, & Deal with.......well then He might need to go back to something Very Simple like.....Community Organizing!!!!
Only Kings and Families inherit things!
We all inherit problems. They are the natural consequence of actions! Two wars, huge deficit, totally unregulated Wall Street, those are just a few of the problems Obama inherited
Bush, on the other hand, inherited the problem of a balanced budget, no wars, but the tail end of the dot com bubble. He also inherited abyssmal intelligence and minimal airport security. The next POTUS will clearly inherit the national debt and social security crisis, and may still inherit unregulated Wall Street at the way we are going.
It took a poll to figure out people are fed up with Washington? MSNBC, people are fed up with your reporting too and your love of Obama. Term limits! vote for no incumbent.
This nails it. I haven't voted for an incumbent in two elections.

A much bigger question is, do you blame Pres Obama for the endless screwups of W? And the inherit argument is a valid one, as is no other. Bush screwed this country with no lube, then he and dirty dick laughed all the way to the bank.
Key mantra in Obama campaign in year 2013..."It's Bush's fault!"
Bruce, Obama said he had the answers to turn around what Bush's failures...HELLO! It ain't workin' baby!
end the whole process and start over with one party the american party and all campaign money has to go to one fund and anyone who wants to run can but if you dont come in 1, or 2 in primary you have to pay it back!!
The authors of this article, are the same folk who would find their daughter pregnant and then wonder how it happened.
The question that should be asked as I read the various comments is: Are we reacting to what is actually taking place in Washington (Which I agree from Obama to Congress we need total change) or are we reacting to what the MSNBC and the other various news medias are leading us to believe and react to?
