This guy obviously does not learn from history, he decided to get more deeply involved in Afganistan, a country that is so much more insignificant than Iraq (Bush's error). I was amazed that he has not signed the international agreement against land mines considering how many Americans have now been killed by IEDs (ie an inprovised land mine). How many children are killed and disfigured by land mines, then there are all the people in Afganistan, Iraq and Pakistan whose lives are made more miserable by Amercan continued involvement in those countries. Unbelievable that he got the Peace Prize: maybe Bush should get it also, he is at least as deserving. How many 9/11's have we perpetrated against those countries.

I think it's going to be tougher than he thinks. I distrusted him initially but was going to give him a chance. There was no change - it was politics as usual - in OVERDRIVE! I have no confidence at all in this man now. Wouldn't believe anything he said. Don't trust him as far as I could throw him!

You know how our President can win our confidence back he just say buy from the USA yes just say it. But for some reason he won't say it. And start curbing the Imports we don't need here flooding and choking the USA economy. That is what we want from our President.

Opinions are just that; and we all differ in ways. The point is that more and more people are saying the same thing in different ways- we need jobs, we need to address the economy, the housing problem, and health care.

Many also agree that this "globalization" of economies, selling out our jobs in the name of going green is wrong. This IS all about greed, it's about corporations doing whatever the hell they want; polluting one side of the planet vs. less pollution on the other (due to our higher EPA standards). The arguement is seeded for green vs. manufacturing, and many had bought into that. To say that capitalism is bad or wrong ideally because of what it's been allowed to become, or bastardized to, is wrong. So they've succeeded there; they have us arguing about the wrong things for the wrong reasons when in reality most of us agree- we need jobs, we need to improve pollution standards while working, we need to produce. We need businesses because no businesses=no employees. Thus, we need incentives for businesses to succeed. So goes the circle; now some align that with corporate greed and abuses that have been allowed, talk trash about capitalism, and .... yep... right back into the arguements they want us to have to distract us from the truth and reality.

The same holds true for health care reform; reform is welcomed. Many are saying that can be accomplished simply by tort reforms, competition across state lines, pharmaceutical competition, and no further denials of pre existing conditions. Instead, arguements were fostered over the abomination presented, and of course, the public option was fodder for warfare amongst us. No real reforms addressed, none included, but plenty available for arguements, distractions, and partisanship. Why even bring up the public option when jobs were down, gone, and no real reforms (mentioned above, that ALL could agree on) were ever part of it? Why?

This pattern continues for other common sense approaches to issues, problems, and considered legislations. Doesn't anyone wonder why the obvious and common sensical is overlooked, and we ALWAYS get pieces, parts, parcels of what COULD have been so much easier? How can the continued created divisiveness be accidental or "the way" American politics work?

This is why I disagree with the idea that we fall into two major categories, that the two party system works fine, we HAVE to choose sides, and that independents can't work together with others that are against all of this to form a viable, REAL representative third party.

Many are upset that this administration is taking from what's left of the middle class to give to the poor; many were upset with the past administration because they were taking from what's left of the middle class to give to the corporations.

Either way, it's become middle class vs. lower class; war amongst ourselves while nothing changes. This administration, the past one, and ones that came before.... really, has anything changed with the Fed Reserve, Big Money interests? Any still believe Obama and the Dems are any LESS pro these institutions than Bush and the Repubs? Were health insurance co's. going to be "reformed" with the past proposed health care bill? Or, were they rewarded?

Are our jobs still being sent by droves to China and India? Are corporations still allowed to do so, encouraged to do so? If polled, how many would say that this administration has created less divide or more, and if more of one, how much is blamed NOT on their actions (or at times, lack thereof) but on us... we the people, not getting along, not being tolerant, not working together. If the answer is less of a divide, well.....someone else will have to post on that because I just don't see that at all.....

I think that it is high time for the American people to wake up and realize it is not the President that needs a make over but, the poor attitudes of the people. This man has most definitely inherited the worst economic situation in any presidents history as well as a mounting "war on terror" deficit that we all knew was going up regardless of his policies. The reality is that he has not spent more in his first year in office then President Bush, he inherited a broken government that was full of programs that have to be slowly dismantled and re-assembled at the expense of the people. He did not lie while running his candidacy considering that heath-care reform was one of his biggest platforms and guess what that is what he has worked on with all the other things placed on his table. To me becoming President is kind of like taking over the pie throwing booth at a carnival and everyone has plenty of pies made but they ain't pecan pie like one would hope. FACTS ABOUT BUSH'S PERFORMANCE

In 1976, Jimmy Carter touted the "Misery Index" to use as a campaign tool against Gerry Ford. It was derived by adding together the Unemployment and Inflation Rates - two of the broadest measures of "misery" that people had to deal with. Unfortunately for Carter, by the time his first term was over, the Index had INCREASED by about 50% to an average of 20.27%, and Ronald Reagan took over.

I took a look at the Misery Index on Wikipedia to see how other Presidents had fared, and guess what - BUSH'S RECORD (8.1% Average) WAS THE BEST IN THE LAST 40 YEARS - EVEN BETTER THAN BILL CLINTON (8.8% Average). The link is below;

I watched... and am still watching as Sarah Palin is not only attacked... but slandered and even cursed for being a VICE-presidential candidate who dared run against his majesty the King of liberalism. The founding fathers beleived that a democracy would only work with an educated electorate. Many people I talk to don't know anything about Congress or who is there and what they do.

I've talked to some who voted for a black President. When I told them he is half black they were surprised. "Where is he from?" "Wasn't he a Senator or something?" "He did beat Hillary so there must be more to the guy than they are telling us. Right?" "The news shows and David Letterman told us for a long time that Bush and Cheney were bad so that must have been true. Right?" "How come you always have that boring C-span channell on while you are working around the house?" "It's boring isn't it? Right?" "Got any beer?"

Keep them coming. The problem is the right hates to be wrong and will never admit it. They wont do research to see if this is accurate or not, they will just say that you are wrong. It's sad but true.

Obama was elected for two reasons:

1) People hated Bush and the Republicans. They had their shot. Since we only have a two party system, the only choice was to vote for the democrat.

2) Obama was black. No one will speak the obvious. 95% of blacks voted for him. Not because he was the best candidate, but because he was black. If a white person votes for a candidate because the candidate is white that is racism. If a black votes for a black it is still racism, but no one will call it that.

So you have the perfect storm. Minorities voting for him because he is a minority and disgruntaled republicans and independants voting for him for the "change." The real conservatives didn't have a candidate, so they stayed home.

Obama couldn't lose and now the country has to suffer through the results. I just hope the nation can survive until 2012. Maybe then we can put aside our racial and political party attitudes and elect someone; democrat, republican or independent that will do truly work for the people.

Remember President GHW Bush, his popularity was sky high after Desert storm, his masterful coalition of forces, his letting his generals do the job, but once that was over and the ticker tape was swept up, the economy was in the tank and so was his presidency. Mr. Obama apparently thinks he is different and things will be different, but he doesn't realize he has much the same constituence that is now waiting for DOMESTIC relief, which has not come. Without that result, now or in the short future, he will also be one term.

I have NEVER voted for nor supported this current fraud-in-chief. When he was nominated, way back when, I researched his qualifications. Guess what I found? Nothing. No qualifications for the position sought. As such, he did not receive my vote nor my support. And as his history has shown, I was correct in my original assessment and stand by decision.

Arguing over who was worse; Bush or Obama, is like arguing over which smells worse; rotten pork or rotten chicken. They both stink!!

Our president may indeed have our best interests at heart. But, he is not LEADING. He equates leading us with lectures to leading. What he needs to lead is his congress, his senate, his house. Get angry, get pushy and get busy with them, before he gets busy with us.

Respect for the office is a given. Respect for the man is earned. Granted it was a national milestone to elect a black man to the presidency, it was truly a great occasion for our nation to have finally grown a bit, however it has not resulted in a black man that can lead.

Unfortunately, people's perception was that they were electing someone with the Gravitas of Morgan Freeman, but he's an actor playing a part. This is a real man with real responsibilites, unfortunately, those responsibilities have been allowed to be usurped by the likes of Pelosi, and Reid. Presidents with will and fortitude don't have time for niceities, they tell people like that to STFU and get out of the way of the country. You will not see that in this president, now, tonight, or in 3 more.

Obama has tried and he wants to succeed. It must be painful for him and family and he still has three years to go. He has been naive about world politics and has gotten bowled over by Pelosi and her ilk in Congress. His advisers have been low quality too. Finally the media is reporting this. He should take a trip up the Hudson on the jet airplane and take some photos or maybe go to Europe again.

Pray for the President and our country. I think he will be relieved to be a one term President. I only hope his advisors don't go down the road of "If you don't re-elect our man, the country must be racist." Ugh.

Bastion - You make is sound so simple. I recently patented a product that I would like to bring to market and can't. I don't want to build a facility and start production until I know what my costs will be. Thanks to Obama, I have no clue. What will my health costs be for me and my employees. What kind of new taxes possible penalties will I face with the propssed Cap and Tax bill. I can't even estimate my energy costs beyond the next year. As long as his radical and socialist ideas are out there, I am not willing to risk my future and my capital until they are resolved.

I'm sure there are many more small business people in the same boat. The economy and employment will never turn around until we know what our future tax burden will be.

The simples thing for me to do is manufacture my product overseas and import it. How American would that be? Obama may force my hand.

The American people thought Obama was going to walk on water, then come ashore and fix it all in six months or less. Some of these "posters" declared him a failure before he was even sworn in---"I hope he fails," anyone? How far is it from hoping for failure to active sabotage...?

That said, Obama has adopted a frightening amount of Bush 43 policies, like bank bailouts IMO. He's definitely gonna have to focus on the economy and jobs for the next three years----and could he PLEASE stop announcing billion-dollar programs like that kind of money just blows down the street every day?

JJ, you really need to understand something...Obama has added a tremendous amount to an already out of control deficit, so lets not try to tag blame on anyone else. He has added Trillions, yes, Trillions to the deficit in one year. We really can't afford another three years of this kind of unleashed spending; it has to stop and stop now.

I would like to see the film version of this speech, so he could sit back and watch himself as a Nobel Fool. The funny stuff happens, when he pauses, knowing this is a good place for applause, and nobody's clapping.
