I miss read the choice- i thought it said that the President had been let down by the people and his party - and that i firmly believe. The american electorate is so naive and if LBJ or FDR had this lot of chicken hearted democrats there would never had been a new deal. no civil rights etc....

Obama has LIED every step of the way and continues to do so. He is misguided Muslim radical with sinister motives. He is not concerned about America at all, but only concerned about his self centered interests. He continues to demean the U.S. and is out of touch with main stream America. His token ploy to freeze White House salaries........what about getting RID of the 30-40 attendants that his wife has......no other first lady ever had more than 3.........she has a staff that is costing the taxpayers millions a year in salaries alone. Get rid of this pork waste. Also, Peloski needs to return back and forth to California on her dime.........not ours. I read somewhere it is costing the taxpayers some 50-80,000 dollars a week for her to travel back and forth. Her job is in Washington.........why should WE pay for her to go home.........unless it is for a one way ticket. Obama continues to talk trash.......he mentions again about transparency, yet look at all the hidden agendas going on with the health care bill and even still is going on. This sinister move by Obama, Reid, and Peloski to FORCE the House to pass the Senates bill, in spite of the voice of America saying NO, NO. Obama is out of touch and does not care what the people have said. He will not change, unless it is for the worse.

I read today that one poll indicated only 17% of the people planned to listen to tonight's speech. I think I can explain that. The President appears to be an almost pathological liar. At any given time he will say whatever he thinks a particular audience wants to hear -- then completely reverse his position later on for a different group. So I believe that many people have decided that there is no sense in EVER listening to anything he says -- once you know anyone is a liar, it is pretty hard to come up with a reason to listen to him again.

Obama does not know enough about politics to be a leader of any Country!

He needs to step down NOW! This country is sooo screwed and it will NOT get better. It is only going to get worse.

I listened to his speech and enjoyed it. His focus is on point. I believe we should move past name calling ( it sounds like the special ed kids I teach) and move into working as a society. America is the best country ever, if we continue to bash each other, everything we buy will be from another country. Who will be blame then?

We have short memories as Americans, but the man needs time to fix the damage done over the past several years: reckless wars, corrupt government, arrogant foreign policy, disastrous tax cuts coupled with spending increases. He's made some progress at least in restoring America's image abroad (where Congress can't as easily get in the way), but will need help from the domestic body politic to get our nation's finances under control.

Obama continues to follow the same formula in his State of the Union that got him elected. He appeals to everyone-for votes, but he hasn't followed through and his promises and he won't. One would have to be very naive to fall for this formula-it hasn't worked for America, it just got him votes, and he is after votes again for this administration which has failed us in so many ways. Now our children and grandchildren are burdened with astronomical debt and America is moving away from the principles which made our country great. We need a return to a trust in the people and a limit in the control that the federal government has over our freedom. A liar lies well, do not be fooled, the truth is in the double digit unemployment and the trial of broken promises, and the daily attempts to undermine our freedom. We should be spending tax payers dollars to defeat terrorist not to protect them.

I think he have done a lot. When he was elected the country was really hurt. It would have been difficult for any of the candidates to bring the country back on track, it still have a long way to go I m not saying is perfect. The biggest mistake of our president have been putting such specific date lines to accomplish was he has promise, otherwise I really believe that he is doing his best. Is one of the few presidents that really care about the citizens of this country and not only about his own well been and popularity, he is very down to earth, great giving speeches and his words seem very real most of the time supported by actions.

I flipped channels and watched a little bit of the speech, I for one and tired of hearing him talk. Get down to business or give up the job. YOu ran for the job knowing full well thje economy was in the tank. You went to the WH with McCain to work on a stimulas in the fall of 2008.

He is a "smooth operator" as the song goes. He is a good speech giver but does not put action behind it. The Government continues to have the people serve it rather than the Government serving the people. Public Servants deserve to be compensated for their time but it has gotten way out of hand. I didn't vote for him and I still wouldn't vote for him. I am glad, however, that people are beginning to wake up finally and see what is really happening with him as President.

The President has fulfilled more of his promises in one year than any other President in my lifetime, and done so in the face of unusually unified opposition. He may not have much more success in the rest of his term, but already he has earned my vote. Those on the Left need to remember that, in the face of unified opposition, the President and the Democratic caucus can be only as liberal as the least liberal member of Congress. Those the Right might pause to consider that if they want to get anything done, they need to declare what they are FOR, not what they are AGAINST. They might also pause to consider that Obama is actually their best chance to get across some of their ideas, better even than during the Bush/Cheney years. We must not blow our limited chances.

Osama Obama continues down the track of impoverishing more Americans so HE can rule the kingdom. When more people rely on government as their financial foundation, you quickly find yourself in a socialist nation that will never recapture its real freedom or financial prosperity.. he has no solutions America ... it's just more rhetoric absent of any substantive idea about how to fix or improve anything. Oh yeah, let's do another simulus ... the last one worked so well. Are you or your neighbors finding those higher, better paying jobs?? Oh, that's right, they're in the greening of America that hasn't really developed yet and where the government can't ever find consensus that anything needs to be done. Leadership? What leadership? All he knows how to do is chastise the Supreme Court, the Congress (which may actually deserve some of that) and unfortunately, the military. Anyone see the faces of the military commanders when he spoke about gays serving in the military? When I served, they did everything they could to get them out so real soldiers could go about the business of soldiering without worrying about picking up the soap they dropped in the shower!! America will never be the same ... too many rice bowls in Washington and no one to lead us out of the abyss.

What a bunch of wonks with short memories! How far did we go in the hole in the last 8 years pursuing a war we should have never been in and leaving one stagnant that should have been the focus? And how much did GWB's tax cuts save all of you "high earning" experts? I made good money and he never saved me a dime - in fact now he's costing me! (and probably a few of you too!) A big problem is there are now too many critical issues to address at once. Many of you are ticked because he hasn't gotten to your particular hot button yet. So be it. What are the priorities?
