Utah's House majority leader says he paid a woman $150,000 to keep silent about going nude "hot-tubbing" with her when she was minor a quarter century ago.
Lawmaker: I went skinny-dipping with teen

Will Republicans now take him to task for morals issues, though, gasp, it was as far as is being said, only hot-tubbing with implications he was married at the time. As judgmental, unforgiving, cold, mean-spirited, and cruel Republicans can be, making up "facts" and lying outright (e.g., death panels), will they demand his resignation. Or is there one standard for the Jimmy Carters of the world, men and women who live their faith, and another for the Grand Old Party that just love to pray loudly in the streets with one eye open to see if all are looking?
It's the law of physics: For every action there is an equal but opposite reaction.
The GOP uses the same tactics as religion to control and manipulate the masses.
What I don't understand is how they get people to join any club, group, or organization that is anti-sex.
I'm sure this will get all the headlines...while the stories that affect American lives sit on the back burners until after the 18th....I'm sure there will be alot more coming out about this story...But Yes he should go, resign, retire, be voted out...mainly because of the hush money, a good democrat would have literally burried the evidence....like the Clinton lawyer's "suicide"
He's got to go ...... Implications are he must have done something wrong ...... Should have never paid in the first place.
Tell that to Senator Ensign.
I think there is a difference between someone underage and paying hush money don't you ...
Wow, they think this in worthy of national news? MSNBC is digging deep now to try to help Obama pass his health care POS. They are up to their eye balls in it now. Big plastered Headline Republican. Where are the headlines about all the Democrats being paid off, taking bribes, being sent to jail from Illinois?. Headline: Another Democrat goes to prison in Illinois. Never to be seen in the news again because we don't care what Democrats do.
And I notice something else. Their liberal bias is showing through glaringly now. Just the other day when Rangel had his problems the headline said Rangel, not Democrat Rep Rangel. When it is something bad about a democrat they keep that away from the headline and a lot of the times you have to dig deep to even find what party his is with. But be it a Republican, that is the first word you see.
But of course they are trying to make all Republicans look bad by elevating this POS STATE HOUSE Representative to national news and all the headline only readers out there will ASSume it is something big happening in DC which is exactly what they want. I expect nothing less from MSNBC. Since when has MSNBC ever cared what happens in Utah anyway? Or for that matter, any of the Mountain States. To them they are just some kind of bump in the middle of the country that causes air turbulence when they are flying from coast to coast.
Try a more correct headline: Utah House Leader Admits Paying Hush Money.
And as far as Republicans asking him to step down, they probabaly will. But that is up to the people of Utah. I don't see any one of the Liberals screaming for Rangel to resign on here.
If you made nothing wrong, WHY WOULD YOU PAID ?
So the real story is to hide his political affiliation, because it is, one- truthful, and two- makes the party of the holier than thou soiled? I don't remember the part where his indescretion was linked to passing health care. I too think it's totally unfair for MSNBC to pick its news pieces, only FOX should be allowed to do that, and Talk Radio, also. So two entities should be allowed to do that. OK Talk Radio is on a handful of stations, and FOX runs 24/7 its free advertising for the agenda on the right. Ok so really seven entities and a non-stop one-sided approach that runs 24/7 365 days a week, one bias geared toward getting the GOP elected should be allowed to pick what piece it runs. So with all that, why are you reading MSNBC? Pwizard, are you a closet liberal? Or are you just confused about mainstream medias desire to thoroughly examine all news (to include Rangel's party affiliation) with the continuous denial of the right- which absolutely grins at reporting a good story that allows them to takes pot shots, whether made up or strectched truth, at the Libs?
That bothers you, huh? Pretty odd, really. Pretty odd.
By the way, this guy is part of a ever-increasing group of politicians (and corporate theives)from both sides who lacks the proper character needed for today. That's what you should be upset about. Just in case you're having trouble understanding the big picture there, champ.
1wizard, before you go jumping all over MSNBC about carrying an article, perhaps you should do a little research. Article on Foxnews.com ~ "Republican paid $150G after Nude 'hot-tubbing'". Really, the only major news outlet that I could not find the story on the front page was CNN.
It is amazing how blind one can be with hatred. Stop watching Bill O and Beck then going onto forums to spread the "good word". Go back to your Fox News pages and whine about how the liberal media is out to get the Republicans. It is a major news story whenever a representative of the people, whether the have a D or R or I next to their name, is having potentially illegal interactions with minors while they are representing the people.
SKVAM,
He came clean, when is the entire Democrit socialist party in our government wrecking the country and the next generations future going to come clean with the American People? No need" we will cleans ourselves of the socialist scum in november and 2012!
The Democrats seem to be capable of the lowest of low. Going to a state representative just to get the attention off what the democrats are doing in the White House and you all buy into it.. As Barnum bailey had once said there is a sucker born every day.
What I fail to comprehend is the lack of balance in reporting matters like this or in folks' responses to them. If this man is a criminal or out of line, he deserves to be prosecuted and/or lose his office. But when Edwards, Ringle and Massa, the last two governors of New York and that arch-criminal immediate past governor of Illinois got in the soup, we didn't see similar headlines on MSN reading "DEMOCRAT: In Deep DooDoo," nor did we see liberals clamoring for their hides in the comments section. Can you say hypocrisy?
your mistake is expecting any type of morality out of a politician period, democrat or republican.
but yes, interesting that when it's a republican they make special note of his/her party. msnbc at it's best.
When will everyone playing the Donkey vs. Elephant game going to realize that deep down they are the same? They are both parties filled with people who believe they are above the common citizenry and can get away with what they condemn others for. In return, you, the self-proclaimed foot soldiers and protectors of the crown point fingers at the other party's misdeeds. It seems to me that you followers of both sides would wake up and realize that corruption and immorality has become rampant in both parties.
The saddest part is while you kool-aid drinkers (both flavors) are battling each other on their behalfs, these scoundrels are robbing us all blind. It is time to dump both big parties. Stop voting for letters and start voting for people who actually stand for something besides their own not so pretty selves.
Many times if there is a negative report on a Dem, you have to look deep into the article to see what party they are connected to.
If its a repub, the party name is plastered in the headline.
<facepalm>
Why is this even being mentioned? Sounds like Oduma's up to his usual witch hunt....trying to get anybody out of the way who presents a threat to his agenda. His thugs must have been digging for ages to get this matter on the table..... the guy was 28 yrs old? BFD, Whatever, unless it's actually recent/relevant and/or a real crime, I don't even care. Gwad I'm sick of these tactics this slimy President of ours uses to get his way.
Tarprofiteer
What's wrong? Hate it when someone to points out how your liberal media works for all to see? Can't stand it when your play book is published so people know what to look for and can read through the BS?. I guess you missed the part where I said that this Republican is a POS. Take off your blinders and quit skimming and you may actually learn something instead of just crying when someone points out what is happening.
I know you think your Holier than GOD Liberals can do nothing wrong and so I feel sorry for you. I have the ability to actually see both sides and then make up my mind, not just blindly jump off a cliff for the Democrats as you obviously are doing.
Try to learn something today. I am off to work to pay for you to sit on your butt and collect my money you liberals enjoy taking from everyone.
jack, jack" you got that right partner, all but "FOXnews" the one and only true news source anymore in this country!
just add him to the list!!!
STOP REPUBLICAN PEDOPHILIA
www.republicansexoffenders.com/
Democrats squirming because they can't get the vote to pass health care refraud? Looks like it!
Fox, as usual, will report this story and call him a democrat. They have done that so many times it's expected.
this is a non issue except for the people of Utah but the left leaning press will try to paint the whole republican party with this brush. Funny, only read one story on the scum rangle 'cause he can/did affect my life. You lefties are a sick bunch. It was on FOX. bone-a-roma, they didn't call him a democrat, but they did call massa a democrat, they did call rangle a democrat, they did name all the tax cheats democrats. Keep trying lefties, I know its out of reach, but maturity is so close...
The incident isn't as much a concern as the bribe or payoff. If he did it once whats to say he would not do it again or hasn't. It proves he would do anything to hold a seat.
It looks like this guy is squirming!!! He wanted to get out in front of any stories in the press. He stated that he just wanted to tell the truth because that's part of the healing process. What a load of BS!!! He should have come clean 28 years ago instead of paying to conceal the truth!!!!
If he was really remorseful he would have resigned.
Be they Republican or democrat once you are in the Senate or Congress or the house you are in for life.
Why?????? We need term limits to help weed out the corruption of BOTH PARTIES!!!
Why isn't the woman being investigated for blackmail? That is clearly what it was. She was an adult when she demanded money to keep quiet. If that is not blackmail...what is????
Ya, Gramps...the same load of BS as the woman taking the 150k 25 years ago. After 25 years I really don't think there is any "healing" that needs to be done on either side...they we're perfectly well healed until now. I suspect some democrat dug up this 'lil tidbit and went to the woman and asked her to come out publically crying "oh! I have been oh-so harmed! I just want to heal and have this awful event behind me!" Maybe it will divert attention away from the lawlessness in Washington DC right now perpetrated by the democrats!
Let's be honest...a 15 year old girl skinny dipping is pretty common stuff. Granted, he should step down from office. But, that is to be left up to his district voters.
Just wait, folks, there is more of this stuff to come in the very near future! If the democrats don't have the evidence to accuse someone of something, they will manufacture it! That IS their modus operandi!
And, though I certainly can't confirm it right now, with some light-hearted investigation, I'm sure I could put a list of democrats that have done the same and far worse (i.e. Chapaquidik...remember Kennedy's blonde?) together that would dwarf the size of that republican list you presented.
Oops...correction, according to the story it was in 2002 she took the money not 25 years ago. Regardless...the story is still a diversionary tactic to deflect attention from all the democrat lawlessness in Washington, D.C. at the moment!
He's a Democrat and doesn't now right from wrong. He figures if it's good enough for presidents it's good enough for him. He knows deep down that everything is ok because he paid 150K to make it all better. And after all he wasn't in the oval office.
Gramps, This is truly disturbing and from what is shown, well documented. However, please do not overlook the big picture; party affiliation has nothing to do with any of it. It is the Democrats who claim ot be "for the children", yet they are just as exploitive.
Forget about the party affiliation; we have become a nation of immorality and the only defense given is to point the finger at another violator, hoping to take the heat off. Pointing out one party's failures is not the answer. Taking back our government and filling the seats with decent people of any affiliation is the solution.
SKVAN.........If there were no "DEATH PANELS" then why did the demoRATs remove them two days after Sarah Palin mentioned them??????????
Of course, they have been added back now. You left wing wackos only want to believe what you think is right but will never use common sense to see that the leadership of your party has been taken over by the communists. These people smell blood and know that this is their best shot since they have the House, Senate and a non-American muslim in the whitehouse. If they are ever going to make this once great nation into a communist country the time is now and the idiots will follow like the puppies they are.
Why don't you people open your eyes and see what the rest of the world has become and really, do you want to follow this path? If so you are a darned fool.
Pedophiles are everywhere, in every church, in every political party, in every extended family. Stop pointing your liberal/conservative fingers at the other side, because your side is just as guilty. Put the blame for this mess squarely where it belongs... on the pedophile and the extortionist.
As a Conservative and one who values an honest person, I say he should resign because he hid the truth and paid hush money so that he could keep or get his job. Who else knew of this and did they receive any ploitical favors for their silence? Things like this can only lead to trouble. I also think that any politician who is a fraud should go regardless of party affiliation.
OK, if he digressed to paying hush money to make this go away, how do we know he hasn't paid hush money to someone else to hide something else?
Sorry, I could never trust him again.

thats great work right there
jay
He's a Republican - not a Democrat.
Either way - she was 15 working in a warehouse? Why was she even there around the hot tub? Why was it even able to happen? I have a daughter that age and to think she would ever be in that situation makes me shudder. I hope girls listen to that little voice inside that says "hey, this isn't quite right".
Lets see almost 25yrs later after 150,000 to shut the hellup.. and NOW THIS FNING WOMAN comes forward? Who put this woman up to this? What is she a welfare vicitm? A crack whore? My God I am sick and tired of people waiting half a lifetime to come forward to now clam they were wronged. Was it wrong 20 yrs ago yes.. What was the kid doing in the place to be put in that situation, She knew it was wrong to do it.. Where is her responsibility? My God this country is going to hell in a hand basket..
At least they didn't meet him naked in the shower and punch a hole in his chest while chastizing him, as Rahm did Maas for daring to vote against Obama's health scheme.
I don't know what all the hub bub is about .........I hear crime, pedephile, and all sorts of other words....but the fact of the matter is I can find nothing on the books about nude hottubbing.......was it a crime if so what is the statute??? bad judgment for sure !!!
What we have here is a case of the female just needing more money!!!! she needs to be in jail.....we need to move on to a real news event!!!!!!!
I look at this as a crime of extortion by the woman or her family and wonder at how brazen she is.
It would please me to see a prosecutor investigate this as a crime.
From the article, nothing happened. This woman wants money and paged through her life to find any ole, flimsy opportunity. Naturally, the "morally upright" media will pursue anything to sell advertising and boost the bottom line. Sad.

PS: There are a lot more from both parties, so STOP THE PARTISAN HATRED!!!
Healing my a$$. She is looking for more $ and to get her 15 minutes. I am just glad he was tubbing with a female and he's not another homo in office!
I'll bet it was a nightmare...I wonder if part of the "healing process" includes giving him back the 150,000 or is that just a "bonus" to go along with the 15 minutes of fame she's looking for now.
In general, I don't give a rat's a** about political sexual peccadilloes (sp?) (as opposed to predation, of course). I wish our country could collectively decide to do the same, making our politicians less likely to be targets of blackmail. We're still a bunch of intolerant Puritans at heart, I guess. This woman and her family are extortionists, and should be prosecuted if possible for it ($150,000? Yikes!). It's not illegal to sit in a hot tub with anyone, but it is illegal to ask for money to keep quiet. He was an idiot to pay in the first place, and he sounds like a bigger idiot today.
Gramps, you can be sure there are sexual predators on both sides of the aisle. There's just not a website devoted to democrats (so far, anyway). I don't think either party is particularly moral, anyway. They just spout the rhetoric which they think we cattle like to hear. I personally don't care about individual non-violent lifestyle choices...just don't ask me to pay for the consequences.
wtfwwus,
While that was quite a list of Democrat's misdeeds ...none of them involve sexual misconduct with children.
The entire list of Republican violations were against children - which speaks to this article.
A person would think that the "Pro Life" party would be protecting that life once it is born instead of abusing it.
wtfwwus... I see you only did half of your homework.
MoCowgirl,
While I do not condone his actions, there was nothing sexual about it. He went skinny dipping, he did not involve himself in sexual miconduct with children. Also, I wouldn't say that a 15 year old is a child, they are a teenager. There was no abuse. It was inappropriate, and he shouldn't have been so careless, regardless of being a politician or not.
A person would think that the "socially evolved" party would be able to see that the human body is not something to be afraid of or hide. Not everything is sexual, but they seem to be able to twist it that way, when it suites their purposes.
My point is that the partisan, attack the other side mentality is more disgusting than what he did. You obviously missed the point, but you did reinforce it.
People should watch the movie Woodstock (if you weren't alive at the time). They were all skinny dipping, men, women, children...does this mean that everyone in the 60's should all be crucified now?
Scary how "far" we've come...how we've..."evolved".
I was a pre-teen when Woodstock happened. Although, I haven't the slightest clue how Woodstock really applies here.
This girl worked for this man. I do not know where the hot tub was, but I doubt it was at work.
Did this girl strip down at a party? Were others there? Were drugs and/or alcohol involved?
Or was it just the two of them, and she just normally stripped naked and jumped into hot tubs?
And, of course, it is just normal for 28 year old bosses to invite their 15 year old employees to do so...????
This is article is just about some money hungry wench looking for another payout. Garn did nothing illegal. He did nothing immoral. When do you need your wife's permission to sit naked with someone in the hot tub. How would swimming trunks help? Your privates are submerged. Garn was an idiot to pay her anything in the first place, that is what is making him look like a fool, not sitting naked in a hot tub with some 15 year old girl.
In it's most basic terms it's an adult and a 15 year old naked in a hot tub together, period. The rest is all just fluff (no pun intended).
You hit the nail right on the head. He lied when he first ran for office and continued to lie every year after. Now he's really sorry -why?- because he just got caught. This is shameful especially when you're a member of the party who always claims the "MORAL HIGHGROUND"!
It's interesting how a 15 year old Ho grew up to be 40 year old extortionists.
.
The House embraces a man who was naked with a minor? Wow the Republicans deserve a firm kick out of the White House.
Woodstock Music & Art Fair (informally, Woodstock or The Woodstock Festival) was a music festival, billed as "An Aquarian Exposition: 3 Days of Peace & Music", held at Max Yasgur's 600-acre (2.4 km²; 240 ha, 0.94 mi²) dairy farm
During the sometimes rainy weekend, thirty-two acts performed outdoors in front of 400,000 concert-goers.
The facilities were not equipped to provide sanitation or first aid for the number of people attending; hundreds of thousands found themselves in a struggle against bad weather, food shortages, and poor sanitation.
There also were two births recorded at the event (one in a car caught in traffic and another in a hospital after an airlift by helicopter) and four miscarriages.
There was a sense of social harmony, the quality of music, and the overwhelming mass of people, many sporting bohemian dress, behavior, and attitudes
The eventual article dealt with issues of traffic jams and minor lawbreaking, but went on to emphasize cooperation, generosity, and the good nature of the festival goers.[
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woodstock_Festival
funny , that didn't stop you for commenting 6 times about Masse. or are you only against the headlines when it's a con ?
and wtfwwus
while I didn't look over your whole list ... Barney Frank caught my eye.
1. it wasn't a prostitute
2. the guy was legal age
3. they had a consensual relationship
which is why all charges were dismissed.
But the right likes to add it's own facts. I'm sure I can find many more errors in that list.
wtfwwus, you saying someone has "missed the point" is like Stevie Wonder criticizing a painting. Following Gramps' shocking listing of Republicans harming children, which is what the article here is actually about, you post this hack joke listing of Democrats involved in anything but child sex crimes. Then, if that wasn't enough of a joke, you actually start defending this Utah Republican creep. What was it you said, 15 years old is not a child??? Dude, how about you look up some statutes involving crimes against "children" and see what age is almost universally used to define "child"- under 18. Let's see, what else did you say, like there was nothing "sexual" about what this Utah State Representative did?? Excuse me, being naked together in a hot tub?? Nothing sexual?? For you and your ilk, it really doesn't matter what a Republican does, does it? Your defense of this clown is embarrassing.
if 15 is legal age in that state for consent he has done nothing legally wrong.
otherwise he can be charged with the corruption of a minor.
for all those who think it's okay ? what if that was your 15 year old ?
www.republicansexoffenders.comThanks Gramps for the info and this just goes to show how hypocritical the republicans are. I tried looking up a site similar for democrats and there is no such site.
A 15 year old is in 9th or 10th grade in high school. That is a child anyway you look at it and it is disgusting beyond belief.
And so what does that mean? That a Democrat has never been a sex offender or that there just hasn't been someone so board as to pay for the URL and waste the time and energy to gather said information.
Come on now - let's try to have a level of maturity about the web - just because there's no website about it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. That's almost as bad as saying, "it must be true - I read it on the web."
How revolting that a pedifile is applauded in our legislative system merely because he is "honest." He is not even honest ...he got his dick caught in the door 25 years later after the fact. Honesty would have been to air his dirty laundry before someone did it for him. Also, even if one would want to catagorize his actions as "honest" there are some things so vile that it isn't forgiveable. A 30 year old man involved in such an inappropriate action (sounding much like molestation perhaps child rape) with a 15 year is suspect. I do not believe him when he says he just sat with her naked. Why should we trust the "ethics" of this country to be run by a pedifile? Can we find no one else to better represent our people in this country? There are not enough words to describe how sick I feel to know that a position of honor and integrity is being held by such a fiend. And he feels his mistake was in "giving that girl money to keep the incident CONFIDENTIAL?!" But, he was the one applauded ... he should have been booed. We can only hope that the legislators' daughters are not as easily molested by their constituents.
I have to say this is not acceptable, but then again he didn't actually break any laws.
As for the mighty list up there, I am sure we can find other people in power who have done worse; not justifying it, but by railing one side without railing the action is just as bad as condoning it.
Still waiting for the NY governor to step down for bullying the police not to press charges after one of his staff members beat the hell out of a woman. But yeah, this guy looking at 15yo breasts 25 years ago is much worse.
Kind of reminds me of a man who took advantage of his intern for oral sex. God, what was his name and political affiliation.......
Oh yeah, who gives a crap.
JSteve7 - Thank you! I am reading the ignorant responses of many on this thread and shaking my head. How did this 15 year old victim suddenly become guilty??? How does anyone know if this person asked for hush money or was offered it when she finally told the truth about what happened to her? This is a huge part of what is wrong with society today. It is NEVER EVER okay for a grown, married man to be sitting anywhere - anytime, with a 15 year old naked girl, I don't give a rat's a** what the circumstances are!!! To twist this into support for members of your twisted hyprocritical party is a perfect example of what is wrong with the republican party today. And this news item is not about democrats, this is about a republican who made a career out of enforcing ETHICS and yet was caught in a highly unethical situation. A married man in Utah who was with a 15 year old child who was naked in a hot tub. He should have been put in jail when it happened and if you think that this was an innocent meeting between employee and employer, you are most certainly mistaken. I don't care why she is bringing it up now - she was a child, a victim - and this could very well have damaged her. To automatically assume that she is at fault or that she forced him to give her hush money - IGNORANCE.
Would it be okay for your 15 year old daughter to be sitting in a hot tub with her married boss?
wtfw...
STOP POLITICAL CORRUPTION, REGARDLESS OF PARTY AFFILIATION!
William Jefferson Clinton- Impeached by the House of Representatives over allegations of perjury and obstruction of justice, but acquitted by the Senate. Scandals include Whitewater - Travelgate Gennifer Flowersgate - Filegate - Vince Fostergate - Whitewater Billing Recordsgate - Paula Jonesgate- Lincoln Bedroomgate - Donations from Convicted Drug and Weapons Dealersgate - Lippogate - Chinagate - The Lewinsky Affair - Perjury and Jobs for Lewinskygate - Kathleen Willeygate - Web Hubbell Prison Phone Callgate - Selling Military Technology to the Chinesegate - Jaunita Broaddrick Gate - Lootergate - Pardongate
What a bunch of hooey and WASTED MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of dollars into a simple act of sex between two consenting adults. He was caught, lied, and slapped severely by Hillary for it. ALL of the other allegations were THOROUGHLY investigated and CLEARED by Starr et al. Why do you continue to shame yourself by posting such nonsense.
The POINT of this article is that NO one can toss rocks around on this glass planet. Try to understand that statement. It will make you a better person.
AC, you are totally right on. We must do more to protect children from creeps like this Utah Representative guy or from creeps of any political persuasion. One would think that Republicans, being associated with getting tough with law and order, would be first in line condemning this guy across the board. But we see the true color of Republicans coming out here as they attempt to prop up someone getting naked with 15 year old children.
OK, let's analyze some Republican thinking here. A state official gets naked in a hot tub with a 15 year old child and this gets equated to what Clinton did with a 25 year old woman. With that kind of calculus, God, please protect our children from Republicans.
He didn't go through the impeachment process because he got a hummer at the White House. He went through the procedure because he lied to a grand jury under oath.
Had he been smart he would have simply said, "I did it, my wife and I are working through it, we appreciate your respect to keep this family matter just that: a family matter." He still would have pissed off a host of people, but at least it would have ended (coverup-wise) there.
NiteOwlett -
did he lie ? many men believe oral sex is not sex . many have a strict definition that actual sex is penetration with genitals. anything else to them is stop short.
if he really believes that and many really do ... then he didn't commit perjury.
it's the same thinking many men have that lesbians can't have 'real sex' because there isn't a penis. While laughable , many think that way.
Screw the partisan crap. He's a politician.
Show of hands now...
Who's-not-surprised?
*raises hand. jumps up and down.*
dirty old Men, she was 15 then, he was 35...DING !! something should have clicked in his mind, that WAS NOT RIGHT ..........
Bill - #1.63
I'd be willing to bet the judicial system has laws against an adult purposefully being naked in the presence of a minor who is not related. Public indecency comes to mind but there are probably some others also such as indecent exposure.
Ripley8 - #1.58
It is referring to what is called age-gap or close-in-age laws. But the age of consent refers to the ability to engage in consensual sex. There are many nuances to the laws also. Even though she may have been old enough to consent (which she wasn't), his being in a position of authority or trust (he was her boss) negates the age of consent rules.
But if he did not have sexual relations with her, then the above comments are moot. However, the laws applying to public indecency, public nudity, etc. may still apply. And yes "public" can still apply even though there were only the two of them present.
Ripley,
1,2,3 whatever, No charges were filed against him, so why the outrage about him getting away with something. There is no statue of limitation on this, is there? No comments from the prosecutors or legal assessment of what he did. Only Democrats are entitled to the type of understanding you offer Frank? I'm not a "rightie", and it seems like you're adding your own "facts". Did you look through Gramps list for errors? If those things are true, I think what gramps posted is horrible stuff that those Republicans did. And I think the list of what the Democrats did is horrible. And I think the partisan, excuse our side, blame the other side, is disgusting.
Steve7,
When your mommy bathed you as a child, was that sexual? You were a child and were naked with an adult. Before you accuse others and make such holier than thou judgements, perhaps you should enlighten yourself some, it may make you a better person.
Niteowl
I never defended his actions. I am saying he did not commit any crime. Twist it how you will.
Clinton BROKE THE LAW, perjury. Why do you shame yourself by excusing criminal actions of those on your side, and slamming anyone on the other side?
Again, you folks missed the point, but reinforced it.
Just a few of the democrats that have been involved in inappropriate activity with children:
# Gerald Steven Ackerman (b. 1956) — also known as Gerald Ackerman; Ajax Ackerman — of Port Huron, St. Clair County, Mich. Born August 5, 1956. Democrat. Mayor of Port Huron, Mich., 1997-99; resigned 1999. Arraigned in April 1999 on 14 counts of criminal sexual conduct involving children; tried in October 1999 and convicted only of the indecent exposure charges, with the jury unable to agree on the others; sentenced to one year imprisonment; retried in May 2000 and convicted on 10 felony counts of criminal sexual conduct; sentenced to 18 to 38 years imprisonment. Still living as of 2007.
# David E. Giles (born c.1950) — of Washington. Democrat. Lawyer; candidate for U.S. Representative from Washington 8th District, 1986, 1990. Convicted in June 2000 of child rape. Still living as of 2000.

Several sites you can go to. I will not bore you to death by listing EVERY SINGLE one of them out. I think you get the picture.
I don't care what party they are in - some are truly pieces of crap. I am a republican and I can tell you there is NO excuse for any man to be naked in a hot tub with a teenager - under ANY circumstances. So, I don't really care if he is Republican, Democratic, Independent, or whatever else you want to call him.
I guess if he had been a Kennedy she could have just had a little drowing accident and he could have not reported it until the next day. Then, he could have salvaged his political career.
When are people going to realize there's garbage on both sides of the political spectrum.
We all need to support the issues and not the messengers. They can and should be replaced.
I wonder how many have been snagged on things like this by foreign hostile intelligence agencies..like China's and Russia's? Something to hide makes for a great vulnerability to eventual betrayal...
I am not a republican but, this is again a case of worrying more about the morals of a man rather than fixing a brokin goverment anything to keep from getting something done in washington, We are tired of the bashing get something done or get out and let someone in that will work on the issues that matter to the people. We're tired of the bull.
He a "state" representative, not a "Washington" representative. It's just the media keeps thrusting these idiotic stories at us hoping we won't focus on the real issues.
The problem here is that if he was a democrat, Republicans will applying one of the typical double standards, Resign Rangel Resign
You can't even put this bozo in the same text as Rangel. This guy is a sunday school boy compared to what Rangel has done!
This IS truly weird. A Republican involved in hetereo hanky-panky.
Yeah it is weird, I had to read the article twice, figured for sure there was some of "teh gay" going on somewhere, after all he *was* a Republican.
I think you are confusing him with Barney Frank, the "ghay poster girl".
.
I am not a republican but, when a representative steps up and asks to chair the ethics committee he/she steps into a very bright light. This fine gentlemen has railed upon other members of the legislature for their "immorality and dishonesty" while he apparently kept a warm tub running for prepubescent girls.
This is what is wrong with our government, it is full of entitled, rich, hypocritical people that have less of a connection with the reality of the man/women on the street than you and I can afford. FIRE THEM ALL!!
3.1 deleted, LU-404506 saying they'd think more of Garn if he slept with a 15-year-old. Don't applaud sex with minors, please.
Once again the real problem with our government. I don't care that this D-bag was a horndog when he was younger, what rankles me is the fact that he had more money than I'll ever see in my lifetime, to pay some jailbait not to ruin his political future.
Is anybody out there actually GETTING this? We DO NOT have representative government, We have a rich boys club that uses government office to enrich themselves and their friends and associates further, and for the most part at the expense of "We the People"!
We have simply GOT to get rid of these self obsessed greedy A$$ED schmucks and get people into office who want to serve the PEOPLE, and not just themselves. Next election, vote as many of em out as you can, surprise BOTH parties by voting for the independents. Yeah maybe we will get some whack political philosophies, but how much worse could they be than what we have right now? Cuz what we have right now is NOTHING!
You hit the nail on the head. And I'm not convinced that he "responded to the financial demands." I think he probably offered it as a means of protecting himself while running for office.
Although I am not convinced that voting for Independents just out of hand is a good idea. We all have to start asking tough questions and demanding straight, direct answers from ALL candidates. If we don't like what we hear, we should start writing in candidates on ballots.
As for "rule of law", "family values", and (this one really gets me) "Compassionate Conservative", if I hear any of that one more time, I'm just liable to puke.
Skeptic, I do not think the people should "shoot from the hip" for an Independent just because he is one. However, we must also end that practice with the two-headed Republocrat snake. While trying to get the signatures from people in my area so I can be on the ballot in November (as an Independent I cannot pay to play; that is reserved for the snake), I have run into many people who start the conversation with, "I have always voted Democrat." When asked when was the last time they heard from (I name the incumbent), in many cases they ask, "Who is he?"
People have got to stop voting fir the letter, regardless of what that letter is. They have got to start knowing their candidates as people instaed of party members. That means, you listen to what they say and determine what it means. Google the; read about their history, if it is available.
If there is a bad mark against them, do not "vote for the lesser of the evils." For goodness sake, you would not go into a restaurant and make a decision between the sandwich on moldy bread or the green egg salad, so why give your vote so little credance?
It is sad when the best we had to vote for in 2008 was Barack Obama and John McCain. If we the citizenry would only be more discriminating, demand better candidates, then we would have a better government. MOST people are smart enough to be able to read through the double-talk if they chooses to. Do not just listen for the sound bytes of what you want to hear; listen to the whole message, digest it for its actual meaning and decide whether the message is true as a whole and meshes with what else the candidate says and does, or if he is singing the song he thinks you are paying to hear.
ron paul
Ron Paul is not an option, at least not a good one. Pro-abortion, pro-open borders (no need for amnesty; just let them enter and exit as they wish), pro-legalization of ALL drugs, pro-freedom of ALL sexual preferences (which would make the topic of this article a moot issue, at best and create a danger to children everywhere) and so anti-Semitic that he is the Palistinean's best friend, which would make him one of our worst enemies, next to Obama.
Let's see, Fred4Congress...you seem anti-abortion. Enforced by...government intruding on doctor-patient relationship. Anti-drug legalization, enforced by...government intruding into your house, car, financial relationships. Anti-freedom of sexual preference, enforced by...government intruding into the bedroom (telescreens, anyone?). I didn't peg you for a big government guy, but clearly, like most of the Rush/Hannity ilk, you like big government to enforce your moral and religious views on the rest of us.
Your other two points require a different style of response. You can't label Mr. Paul as pro-open borders without including his stand on welfare and state-supported health care. He appears to be against most social programs, which would mean you and I would not be paying tax dollars to support any illegal immigrants. If they made it here, they would need to get to work. Period. That's the classical Libertarian argument, and I feel it is valid.
Regarding you smearing Mr. Paul as anti-Semitic, I hope he reads this and sues you for libel. Like most Israeli apologists, you label anyone critical of the current apartheid state which is Israel as anti-Semitic, thus avoiding any real discussion of the Palestinian issue. Why don't you admit you don't have a clue about most things, and get back to picking the lint out of your navel.
3rd parties are tough. they usually have their own agenda as well.
Look at Ron Paul , who does have some great ideas. But president ?
His embrace of conspiracy theories about international Jewish bankers, the United Nations, and 9/11 "truth", his repeated flirtations with openly racist groups like Stormfront, his neglect in allowing his name to be used to promote racist hate literature ( he DID know about it ) , and his bizarre proposals to replace the U.S. dollar with hundreds of competing currencies printed by private individuals !
he was the only congress member to vote against the Financial Antiterrorism Act and a medal to honor Rosa Parks based on principle, not politics.
What kind of nut job principle is that ?
Ron Paul claims he doesn't know or wasn't aware what was printed in the news letter he started and still contributes to ! liar .
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x408cr_ron-paul-s-racist-quotes_news
Ripley: Haven't heard any directs quotes out of Mr. Paul's mouth about international Jewish bankers. I did check out the website you posted. No Ron Paul, just some blowhard I've never seen before spouting off. No direct evidence, no video, etc. Seems like a liberal anti-Ron Paul puff site; completely unreliable. Do you have any other sources regarding aforementioned prejudices? Any direct evidence? Because right now, it seems like you've directed us to a liberal smear campaign.
Personally, I kind of like a guy who upsets both liberals and conservatives.
are you blind ?? Ron Paul stats up a news letter + 20 years ago. He starts it up.
He has over the years contributed to it. It bears his name. And HIS news letter has been very racist !
If he can't take the responsibility for that how can he when he's the president with the sign that reads ' the buck stops here ' ?
Ron Paul's race problem
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1835179/posts
Paul was more blunt writing in his independent political newsletter distributed to thousands of supporters in 1992. Citing statistics from a study that year produced by the National Center on Incarceration and Alternatives, Paul concluded: "Given the inefficiencies of what DC laughingly calls the criminal justice system, I think we can safely assume that 95 percent of the black males in that city are semi-criminal or entirely criminal." Reporting on gang crime in Los Angeles, Paul commented: "If you have ever been robbed by a black teen-aged male, you know how unbelievably fleet-footed they can be."
he has long opposed sexual harassment legislation, writing in his 1988 book Freedom Under Siege (available online), "Why don't they quit once the so-called harassment starts?" ( instead of having the harasser punished and let go .)
This man paid a woman $150,000 for warm bubbly water and impure thoughts?
Right now every Hooker in the world is packing up and moving to Utah.
That's hysterical.
Damn straight!!
HAHAH.....not without a sense of humor, I see.
How foolish, when he could have taken a page out of the Kennedy book and paid a lawyer less to defend his impure actions less instead.
I thought the Kennedy play book was kill the babysitter!?!?
"Thunderous applause
"House members gave him thunderous applause for his honesty and embraced him."
And right there, in a nutshell, you have what is wrong with our government whether it be State or Federal. Applause for his "honesty" -- twenty-five years too late. That abrogates the word honesty, does it not? My fellow citizens, we are being governed by a "good ol' boys' " club that conceals, covers up and condones school boy behaviour. And it is costing us a fortune in taxes so they can have health care paid by us, trips overseas with their families to buy duty-free luxury items...which we pay for...and to pay off mistresses. Benjamin Franklin said it best when asked what have you given us. He said, "A Republic, Ma'am...if you can keep it." He is undoubtedly spinning like a top.
Not really. He honestly thought he could get away with it.
Like I give a ...hoot.....can he deduct the money as a business expense?
Sure is a lot of fessing up going on lately...................kind of distracting, wouldn't you say?
Distracting? I hardly think so! I'm to pissed off to be distracted by this fool! There's much bigger fish to fry come november, trust me!
Probably, under work hazard or something.
If you DON'T give a hoot, Madam, then you are as much a part of the problem as the legislators who take your money and buy hanky-panky with it.
wow! first convicted republican homosexual pervert larry craig-now this!! republicans are stupid. they should have kept their mouths shut about bill clinton. but then again it keeps coming back to the party of hate. the democrats never have to do anything because you can ALWAYS count on the hate filled repubs to FU. At least bill clinton isnt a pervert-more then you can say for the republicans
unless I'm mistaken messa is a democrate, and he was a U.S. senator not a state official.
You are mistaken. he is a born again democrat. Found out he was gay and left repub party. was never a senator. only the choice dems can get to be gay senators.
Yeah' but look at that fat ugly skank Lewinski, thats not saying much for Clinton as the president of the united states. The ugly basterd didn't get no hot chick now did he!
the party of hate just rolls along!!! notice how not one person dealt with the story. theyre all too buzy hating!! what a riot...
What story? You mean this little blip in the news day? fire the dumbass, arrest the girl for extortion, and move on. Is that what you wanted to hear? Or would you rather hear that everyone thinks it's ok to do stupid crap like this. Take your pick
Unless you live on Utah, you don't have a dog in this fight. Let the voters of Utah handle their state reps. I'm concerned for my own idiot reps here in California and the retards in Washington to worry about the ones in Utah.
aside from many thought she was good looking .. as well as Clinton ( more so than Bush at any rate ) .
you got me laughing with your ' didn't get no ' ... From Detroit ?
Yeah, for a democrat Lewinski was a knock out!
Ok, so we have all proven one major fact that we can ALL agree on.
Politicians like to screw people!

"for a Democrat, Lewinski was a knockout"
You'd prefer the frigid Ice Queen Ann Coulter?
She's a step up from Lewinski, but I didn't say she was pretty either. Certainly more intelligent, though.
Heck, I think even Jimmy Carter could have got a prettier piece of @#! in the White House! It was just damn embarrassing for the country. The highest office in the US and he can't get laid by a descent looking chick?
I guess it's better than Barney Frank though!
Politicians are such hypocrites. Not because of acts like this, but because of how they rant and entrap each other over such things. The Republicans are the worst offenders, though.
"The Republicans are the worst offenders, though."
Please provide examples of both parties.
Have you been reading the same news that I have? You are from the planet Earth Correct?
Yeah and the Democrits always just do the most damage to the country!
Obama's been on a witch hunt since he's had trouble passing his socialist health care bill. He has used any means possible, bribing, bullying and digging at peoples past. He's from Chicago so he's not even discreet about it. America's seen it all since he's been in office.
BTW, Clinton wasn't just doing Monica, he was doing it in our White House, and allowing in the West wing any pretty face, which could have created a compromise in our national security. He should have been ousted from office for that. Let's not try and compare the two situations.
President Obama personally sought out a non-descript woman and asked her if she had an affair 25 years ago with a man who is now in the house and trying desperately to destroy health care? OMG, give me a break, this is a case of a man screwing around with an underage child when he was married and she is hitting him up for money. The stupid part is he paid her!
Clinton was 'doing it ' with another consenting adult. I don't care where it was. It should have been a matter only between him and his wife.
What kind of crazy woman saves a semen stained dress in her closet for 8 months ?
any sane woman would have had it cleaned. Unless Monica was nuts or she was helping to set Clinton up. His eye for the ladies was no secret.
Yeah, he was doing "IT" in the Oval Office. Ironically, it was one of the few times he used his head in there! LOL Actually, Clinton was not bad for a democrat. No hating!
Where's the respect for the office? Yes, that was our business. He was on the taxpayers time clock. If he had been doing her at an apartment, then a differnt story altogether. It was more about the respect for the position than the fact he was a cheater. You are correct, then it would have been a personal matter.
I would have felt the same way if it had been Reagan!
Horndogs prevail in politcs. Right or left, they seem to be here to do the monkey.
Its time to clean the Houses of this political and moral scum.
Yes" they all must go" and the Cloward & Piven Socialist in the White House right after that! I say screw the hope, i want real change for the betterment of government and this country! We cannot as a free country and people continue to live year after year with this government that is the real cause of this country's problems!
"wow! first convicted republican homosexual pervert larry craig-now this!!"
Just where was he convicted? just askind since you seem to have all the answers.
Minnesota. He entered a guilty plea. That results in a conviction.
Wow. Pelosi denies it ever happened.
Pelosi's may have been 15 in the 1880's. This happened in the 1980's not the 1880's.
Well 150K is not enough to prove abuse of government powers according to soft money tax evasion is a federal crime If these contributions were not recorded I am Sure as Hell the money was not accounted under gift contributions......I'm sick of this Sh!t, Fire his Ass if Not fire his Superior's Ass if that doesn't Work Scrap the Whole Dam thing (R) and (D) only mean supporting this Corruption!
Lemme see, $150,000 for a platonic hot tub chat with a teenage girl....yeah, right!
As my old Daddy use to say about politicians, "If they are not a crook when they go into office, they will be before they come out." As for politics being a rich boys (girls) club, I have yet to see a poor person elected to any office of any consequence. I don't know what a poor old boy (or girl) would do in say Washington, DC. Lets elect some and see.
I'm convinced that your father was right. I also think we should try electing more poor, as we know that the rich people are always about getting more and more. Greedy bastards. By the way, there was Jimmy Carter. If I'm not mistaking, he only had a little over $400,000. when he was elected.
I vote for sgt doc
Sgt Doc,
I can tell you what this poor boy would do" Knock some friggen heads together! Whoopin' a**! and takin' down names! Plus' slap the botox out of pelosi's ugly face' and kick her down the stairs!
Give Me Bread??? Clown, you wouldn't do anything but run your yap. Laptop lapdog.
This guy is a state official. Unless I'm from Utah he is of no interest to me!
Well heck, I'd like to hot-tub with this idiot. When I was overseas, I payed a young lady $10.00 to have sex with me. He only hot-tubed? What a dumb a$$.
You made me laugh Tyrone! Best response on here - hands down!
Wow he used the Obama magic words. I'm sorry.. Now all is forgiven as Obama has done for so many Democrats right?
It sure would be nice if people knew how to stay on topic. Your response is lame to say the least, I'm sure there are some Pres Obama bashing sights that would welcome you, go find them.
Hey Mary, you don't like if we bash that socialist piece of Sh*t" in the white house... Then why don't you beat it?
excaliburgc,
I agree with Mary, this is a repub bashing thread. Go away <sarcasm>
Hey jack, you can jack my L**D!! Get it? Thats no sarcasm about the socialist and chief" it's fact! Lf you don't like it dem, you beat too!
Get it?
No, spell it out, unless your scared.
If you think that I support Obama, you dont know me very well.
This whole thread is kinda off-topic, but what?
I'm guessing that's not exactly complimentary. Give Me Break!, you're suspended for a week for violating #1 of the Code of Honor. Not too many chances left.
One bad apple spoils the bushel; when all the apples are bad they spoil the barrel. The Greedy Old Party has out lived its usefulness. They simply are not needed to continue spoiling the nation.
Yup, lets get rid of ANY dissenting opinions so that the democrats can finish turning us into a third world country.
Time for you to wake up.....
Kind of like King George got rid of dissenting opinions when he made the statement that "you're either with us, or you're against us" and then by saying that anybody against the Iraq invasion was "not a patriot".The King created the division in the Country, and Obama is trying to fix the damage, but the Republicans will do anything they can to make him fail. Rush stated what all GOP'ers want to say but can't because of political correctness, and that is that the GOP'ers want him to fail. The Dems may finish making us a third world country, but the King and his court brought us down 99% of the road.
$150K, 25 years ago was quite a chunk of change, oh well, the rest of the story is due to come out as she is now speaking to the press. It will be interesting to compare the 2 versions of the story.
I wouldn't count on to many people giving a rats a**" about that, when the socialist are fixing to ram that takeover monstrosity of a health care bill down our throats! But by all means have at it!
Mary...yes, $125K twenty five years ago IS a lot of money but you clearly mis-read the story as another poster had done; the money was paid in 2002. At least the other poster corrected himself a few comments down. I personally don't understand why she even has to bother to comment. He did not say who the girl was and until someone is able to figure it out, let it go. I could care less what she has to say. In fact, I could care less about the story altogether. Did he make a mistake? Yes. Is it the end of the world? No. Time to move on....
First, this guy is a State Representative. This should not be a national story, other than a liberal media outlet trying to smear republicans.
Second, the guy should go. We want high ethic and morals from our political leaders.
Third, to all the liberals out there who are calling for this guy's head, were you doing the same thing to Clinton, or were you defending him vigorously? I know the answer, hypocrites
It was on fox news, also.
AND I didn't think Clinton had to go nor does this guy have to go. It's worse to me as far as her age goes but the only person he should have to answer to is his family - JUST LIKE CLINTON! Impeachment?? PUULLEEAASSE!
A lewd act is a lewd act, we are creatinbg a two class system. Those who are either too poor to fight (and avoid months or years waiting in jail for trial) and those who can just pay a get out of jail free card. why do we have almost 800,000 sex offenders in this country? Lets list the predators not the clintons of the world.
Stay on topic. This isn't about Clinton, it is about a current Utah House Majority leader who, while married, was in a hot tub with a 15 year old NAKED child. No spin, blame shifting or excuses can change that fact; he admitted it once he faced the situation being "exposed". From what you write you appear to be okay with this situation, as long as liberals don't smear republicans...?? (since its not your problem, its a "state" problem).
That was 20 years ago? Gee, next thing you know MSNBC will be reporting on how politicians were Potty-Trained !!
This isn't anything Ted Kennedy didn't do a hundred times. WE all know what libs and the media think of him.
I wonder if this rep was contacted by this "lady" prior to her seeking press coverage? He paid her off once, and now is she is coming back for a little more "hush" payola ?
Sounds like we have a extorsionist on our hands........
Omg, jack of all the posts here, you seem to be the only one understanding the article. He went to the media before the young lady did so that he could get the facts out not the media going to him searching the story. All most every post on here is about the President being involved in this or about the healthcare passing or the labeling of the article. Thanks for having common sense jack, can you pass it along to all of the others that are too dumb to read and understand the article. Have a good day!
Thank you and have a wonderful day yourself.
I see damage control for the guy from Utah. Nothing more, nothing less.
Agreed. Folks in Utah, please take care of your state senator. Whatever you decide is in the best interests of your state is good enough for me.
The real irony in the whole thing is that Utah considers itself so morally upright.
The real issue is how there is a disparity in the definition of morals in Utah versus the rest of the country.
It won't be long before the Moron Church "asks" (aka tells) him to not run for re-election. Let's not forget that the residents of Utah are under theocratic rule.
Utah kind of creeps me out! They give repeated sex offenders a slap on the hand and give first time offenders for other crimes the book. I don't get it?
This guy will probably be embraced by the republicans as a party hopeful for future president. With a few more misdeeds he will be a party leader at the least.
Yeah kinda like Pelosi" nobody will top all her misdeeds though, now will they!
Show me a few will ya?
bobr,
Here ya go.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBlSKi-SoCo&feature=fvw
bobr, how about $2.1 tax dollars for military flights, including $100,000.00 for booze? I guess that explains some of her actions, though. Please explain why Nancy Pelosi needs to fly in military planes instead of coach like any of us? Outside of to herself, she really is not that important.
So what is new? There is not a politician in America that knows how to keep their dress down or pants up. Day after day either a politican is involved in a seedy sex scandal or caught taking kick backs. Honesty is not a trait of American politics.
Yeah and damn sure not in the presidents!!!
Apparently, wardrobe malfunctions are not specific to Super Bowls and celebrities.
Oh, that's right - ya gotta have CLOTHES ON to have a wardrobe malfunction.
