This lawsuit is inevitable under any circumstances. Regardless of the party in the White House and views on immigration, the Arizona measure IS a direct intrusion on Federal authority and MUST be challenged.

The doctrine of "pre-emption" says that when a higher level of government - whether a state over a county or municipality, or the central government over the state - asserts authority in an area of law, then the lesser level of government must yield. In some cases, such as the right to assert even stricter controls over air quality tandards at the state or local levels, specific authorization was needed before cities, counties and states were able to enact their own regulations. This doctrine has already been thoroughly tried before the Supreme Court and should certainly prevail in this case.

As a separate policy issue, President Obama is making clear he will act against perceived official discrimination and unfair treatment, even if it involves unpopular action on behalf of illegal immigrants. I find that refreshingly courageous, and the right thing to do. Arizona's law is clearly aimed directly at Latinos and is clearly fostering near-vigilantism in an atmosphere of hysteria.

John, have you read the law? It just allows enforcement of the higher federal law. No idea how the fed can sue a state to make sure a federal law is not enforced. There is no targeting here, it is clearly stated that if during a stop a law enforcement officer has reasonable suspicion that the person they are speaking to is an immigrant that they then have the right to ask for proof that they are here legally. That proof can just be a drivers license. If they are legal residents, than they will have identification, which we are already required to carry by federal law. I've been asked for my ID by the police, this is no different. If I failed to provide ID, I could be detained. No problem, I carry my ID.

Why is it so hard for a legal immigrant to carry their papers? I carry my passport when in another country, and I know three Irish immigrants that are here on work visas that carry copies of their papers. Are Mexicans less capable than the Irish or the hundreds of other immigrant groups?

First, the US Government's lawsuit doesn't have a leg to stand on. They cannot overstep their authority over the state's law, after all, these are illegal and possibly terrorists that are sneaking into our country. Almost all illegals that sneak in are drug mules, so that right there give Arizona's police the right to stop and search each and everyone of these ILLEGAL TERRORISTS. Arrest them, men, women and children, and put them in jail, take away their children, put them in foster home detention centers until the parents do their time, and are released, and deported! Next thing that Arizona should address, which they would be totally in the right, is to build a solid, 300ftx300ft concrete wall all along the border, and man it with Arizona's National Guard. Also, make it where it will also go 200ft underground so no illegal can burrow like a mole under the wall. On-top, install motion detector 30 and 50 Cal Machine guns every 50 to 75 ft, also, install motion detector Flame Throwers every 50-75ft. Have a area at the base of the wall, where jeeps can drive along the entire length of the wall, then, from the end of that open area at the base, install personal Landmines say 1/4 out (thousands of them), then install 200ft high razor wire that covers the complete 1/4 no-man zone. Lastly, as the last line of defense, install piping all along the top of the wall, with shower heads pointed out to cover the area the jeeps drive in. Have the Shower-heads work on Motion detecting system, and if by some miracle, an illegal makes it through this gauntlet, let the motion detectors activate the shower heads that will shoot out the most corrosive acid made, that will melt a human within seconds. There. these steps I've outlined, along with strong active Arizona National Guard presence should be considered by Arizona, Texas and every other state close to the border to keep America from being over run by terrorists, or as those freaking liberal whiners want to call them, undocumented citizens. Chris - you couldn't be more wrong. Governor Brewer had many very knowledgeable attorneys diligently review this law before she signed it. I'm pretty comfortable in believing that those lawyers might be a little bit more informed on this issue than you are.

As for going after the companies that employ illegals - I'm all for it. If a business model is dependant on exploiting people and paying below-market wages, then there is something wrong with the business model. In fact SB1070 is not as harsh as the previous paragraph of Federal law since SB1070 has a provision against racial profiling while Federal law allow reasonable suspicion to include: "dress or speech indicating foreign citizenship".

It's time for the liberals, media and elected officials to stop putting a spin on every news story. The bottom line, "illegal" is illegal, not an "undocumented immigrant". Our Federal officials including the President, officers of the law, members of Congress and all public officials are sworn to uphold the law. Thank you, John A. I live in Arizona and feel no fear of brown people. I have also lived in other parts of the world where my pale skin made me a minority. I agree that SB 1070 can not be enforced without racial profiling. Whenever the local TV stations mention immigration, they show the Arizona flag and the Mexican flag in the same screen. This just shows that the law is meant to target immigrants from Mexico - never mind the people from other parts of the planet who overstay tourist or student visas. The Europeans are more difficult to pick out and won't suffer the same discrimination that is present here even against people of Hispanic heritage who have many generations of presence in the Southwest. Immigration needs reform, but not by just throwing certain people out. We need to make the process of legal residency easier, not harder. Instead of sending certain people to the "back of the line" we need to streamline the process in order to accomodate immigrants who have culture, talent, intelligence to this country. America is a mosaic of cultures that should bring pride to all who live here.

As for the issue at hand, bad move Obama. The AZ law is even less likely to promote racial profiling than the federal law. States are allowed to enact laws that do not supersede laws passed by the federal government or restrict rights guaranteed under the constitution. Justice may be in for a surprise in this one; the Arizona law tracks the federal law; the Federal law authorizes ANY LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER, Federal ,STATE, COUNTY OR MMUNICIPAL TO QUESTION ANYONE ON THEIR LEGAL STATUS, IF FOUND TO BE A ILLEGAL ALIEN, THE FEDERAL Law REQUIRES THE ARREST OF THAT PERSON. The reason local law enforcement stopped arresting, the Federal Immigration service would not pay the cost of incarceration or transport and would not extradite. This has nothing to do with race, although Justice and the administration is trying to pin the Race card on anyone wanting to control our borders; it has everything to do with a survival of our Country!

Bottom line: This is a law that should have never been passed but Arizona had to because the Obama Administration is too busy with their agenda to take care of this major issue.

You don't get it. No one wanted to create SB-1070. Arizona HAD to pass a law because the state has been send correspondence for the last 2 years begging for help with it's border. Every interview that I have seen with officials from Arizona has included regret over passing this bill. This is like disciplining your child. You don't want to do it but it has to be done.

Also, this isn't a republican vs. democrat issue. Arizonians (Dems, Repubs, Independents, and Latinos) voted overwhelmingly for this law. Many legal immigrants don't like this law but they support it because of the situation that Arizona is in.

If anything Arizona should be suing the government for not doing it's job.

A thoughtful subject, and I will throw my 2 cents in. Has society and culture evolved that much from the 1700's? Do you honestly think that the old ways of bloodlines, noblity and "divine providence" have disappeared? No, the names have changed, that's all. We still have royalty, now we call them sports superstars, actors and Senators, the people with power, money and fame.

We place a fine, polished veneer over civilization but there are certain expectations to be met. For one there must be a peon, or serf class who do all the manual labor and unwanted jobs. This is what the immigration matter is about. The noblity needs a peon class that will work as little more than slaves, but the violence and ugliness is tolerated so long as it doesn't attract attention. The current uproar is being caused because poor Americans are being overwhelmed by rising prices and scarce jobs. Add to that violence by immigrants and drug crimes, and the public eye becomes fixated with an unhappy glare.

I fail to see why local police should not be able to assist Federal officials with illegal immigration. Police can detain you to establish your identity already, so what is different? The Feds don't like being shown up as incompetant?

If we want to protect against terrorist attack, wouldn't it be wise to be able to say with complete confidence, "our borders are sealed". Instead we lock the windows and leave our front door open.

Let me just go through this ten-point list,

1. "Impenetrable"? Nothing is impenetrable and the cost of building a wall similar to the one by San Ysidro over the entire length of the border would be absolutely staggering;

2. Already been done;

3. Only somewhat effective because for example it doesn't work with people who are self-employed (cannot be a witness against themself) plus the E-verify system is not that accurate because of the number of pre-2003 social security numbers out there (which is when they put in an expiry date for people in non-immigrant categories);

4. Already happening;

5. Ditto;

6. Easier said than done, given that there are estimated to be something like 6 or 7 million people who have overstayed;

7. How many people died during the Civil War to get the 14th Amendment into the Constitution? The 14th Amendment is not going to be changed;

8. Already done to some extent, the one I agree on here is that there needs to be some sort of way of stopping illegal aliens from going to school which is a big incentive to cross illegally, because the Supreme Court ruled out immigration checks in 1992, but the law could be looked at;

9. People giving birth in the street is okay then? "Anchor baby" is a bit of a myth, you have to be able to demonstate the US citizen would suffer "extreme hardship" by being returned to Mexico. ICE sends back US citizen children with Mexicans every day;

10. Well I think that's already happened going by the most recent jobs report!

Their plan is to find an activist judge that will at least issue a stay pending litigation and we all know if the law is struck down it will ultimately end up with the Supreme Court which will correctly uphold it. 2. Making purchases on my department store credit card.

4. When filling out a credit card or loan application.

6. When applying for any kind of insurance.
7. When filling out college applications.
8. When donating blood.
9. When obtaining certain prescription drugs.
10. When making some debit purchases, especially if I'm out of state.
11. When collecting a boarding pass for airline or train travel.

I'm sure there are more instances, but the point is that we citizens of the
USA are required to prove who we are nearly every day!

do you present your passport and birth certificate for these things? that is what this law would make one do. if you are suspected of being here illegally, and can not provide these things, then it is more than likely that you will be detained, even if you are a u.s. citizen. in fact, the u.s. deports hundreds, if not, thousands of citizens each year.

There is a small card isued by the state department which is the size of a drivers license. I don't see why it can't be carried if needed. What's the big deal unless you are anarchist intent on over throwing the country.

800 lb. gorilla (1.112) --- Passports or birth certificates aren't the only ways to prove legal residence/citizenship. A valid driver's license or non-driver license suffices, because it is embedded with all of our documentation.

Also, one can apply for a US passport card ($40 if you've never had a US passport, $20 if you've had one in the past) - this card is about the size of a driver's license and easily fits in one's wallet.

In your opinion, a lawsuit is inevitable and state law MUST be challenged when the state law asserts stricter controls or authority over a federal law. Then please explain the Federal Government’s lack of interest in protecting my 2^nd Amendment rights from the draconian gun laws enacted by the state of CA.

I personally have issue with one aspect of the Arizona law. It not only is not wise but also creates a slippery slope when the police are allowed to make a traffic stop upon their sole discretion that the person is in the country illegally. How is that even possible without speaking to the person? Probable cause or reasonable suspicion will no longer be a requirement for initiating a traffic stop. In retrospect, it appears that the result of the Feds inability to control the border is the butchering of the 4^th Amendment. At this time, it may seem reasonable to give police such wide discretion, but history dictates that we are just one-step nearer to becoming a Police State.

I'm also making something of a reply to Only in America at the same time.

First, if the Hispanic officer in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood tickets only whites, then the officer is engaging in racial/ethnic profiling. The example cited is almost perfect in its reversal of the way many Black drivers are treated in White neighborhoods (especially upscale neighborhoods). It is not, in this matter, that the law is racist but that the officer is engaging in racial/ethnic targeting.

However, if the law encourages the officer to stop EVERY White going through the neighborhood, on a "reasonable suspicion" of some undefined transgression (or, perhaps, every Black person going through the neighborhood) the the law is flawed. Which immigration law is tougher – The existing Federal law, or Arizona's new law?

Under Federal law, a police officer may stop and inquire into anyone's immigration status for any reason, and no “Reasonable Suspicion” rule is needed. This law was upheld by the United States Supreme Court - In Florida v. Royer, 460 U. S. 491 (1983) "law enforcement officers do not violate the Fourth Amendment by merely approaching an individual on the street or in another public place, by asking him if he is willing to answer some questions, by putting questions to him if the person is willing to listen, or by offering in evidence in a criminal prosecution his voluntary answers to such questions.... and ask to examine the individual's identification, etc.”

Under the new Arizona Law, a police officer must do two things before questioning anyone about their immigration status;

1 – Stop that person for an apparent lawful reason – ie; a traffic stop.

2 – Meet the legal requirement of “Reasonable Suspicion” that the person might be an illegal immigrant before questioning them about their immigration status.

Perhaps Arizona could have saved themselves a lot of headaches by simply authorizing their police officers to enforce existing Federal immigration laws.

The police are only allowed to ask for ID if they are already engaged with the person legitimately - for instance, after seeing a reasonable cause to pull them over for a verifiable reason. They can't pull you over for looking "foreign". But they can, and should, ask for ID when you have been pulled over for something like speeding, especially if you display behavior which suggests you may be illegal, just as they would do a sobriety test if you looked impaired. According to CBS Radio News, the basis of the lawsuit is that the feds are claiming that they alone have the authority to handle immigration.

I had a physical injury at one time that caused me excruciating pain. In very heavy traffic, I was trying to get off the freeway, The front of my car passed over a solid white line near an exit, along with 2 cars in front of me. A police officer stopped me and gave me a ticket. The two cars in front of me passed completely over the same line. One a sports car convertible with a woman on a cell phone. The other, an old beat-up truck with a Hispanic male driver.

I told two good friends who were police officers of the incident and was surprised to here them say the officer most likely did not pull the Hispanic over because their ticket and arrest records are routinely scrutinized by civil rights groups and that any arrest of minorities anywhere near the actual percentage of that minority in the vicinity of the arrest, would be interpreted as civil rights violations. One officer said he routinely allowed minorities to break the law because he was not about to jeopardize his career by being labeled racist.

First, if the Hispanic officer in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood tickets only whites, then the officer is engaging in racial/ethnic profiling. The example cited is almost perfect in its reversal of the way many Black drivers are treated in White neighborhoods (especially upscale neighborhoods). It is not, in this matter, that the law is racist but that the officer is engaging in racial/ethnic targeting.

However, if the law encourages the officer to stop EVERY White going through the neighborhood, on a "reasonable suspicion" of some undefined transgression (or, perhaps, every Black person going through the neighborhood) the the law is flawed. In this circumstance, it may be that there is an anti-burglary law involved, not speeding, and that the police are directed to conduct a search for evidence of potential burglary intent (tools, maps with apparent targets marked, etc.) if they have any reason whatsoever to pull someone over. And EVEN IF the law says profiling is not allowed, by its application the law encourages profiling.

So then technically all laws have the capacity to encourage profiling?

Rixar - all Arizona has to do is show that the law does not confict with the federal law. When stopped on other law violations which include federal, state and local laws. Note - they already are enforcing by federal law. To overturn this law is a far more serious matter than you think, for if it is turned over, then potentially state and local officials are under no obligation to enforce any federal laws.

Arizona should bring on a counter suit. The feds have chosen not to uphold the law by not enforcing it. The violence has gotten tremendously worse.

November 2010 will solve NOTHING as long as Obama and Holder are worrying more about suing states than enforcing existing immigration laws. If Obama and Holder were doing their jobs, Arizona would have had no need to create their own law to protect their citizens.

This is such an easy argument for Arizona. The President himself in his speech has declared a law "unenforcable".

This shows that the Federal Government, specifically the Executive Branch, is unwilling to uphold their responsibility to the Constitution. This shows that the State has every right to take the law into it's own hands as long as within the confines of Federal law.

Also, in the past Arizona has sued the Federal Government in 1997 for Prison costs. The final ruling was that the Federal was responsible for Legal immigration.

Even now people scream to make things harder on Employers. If you check you will see the Administration filed earlier this month to stop Arizona from enforcing a 2007 law that did that.

They do not think it is right to prosecute businesses AND the employees.

I firmly believe that any candidate running for reelection or otherwise be asked for their views on enforcing/enacting immigration. Border states have justifiable proof relating to economic loss, physical harm to citizens, and increasingly legal crime issues directly related to the Illegal problem. Alternately, these issues are spreading and no longer singularly effect border states. States in the midwest and east coast are beginning to feel the negative effects of the Illegal resident issues; and, the Federal Government does nothing.

What we have here is a lame duck President, who is more interested in keeping the Hispanic vote for re-election purposes; than protecting the rights and lives of American citizens in Border States. Plain and Simple...

We have a President who is willing to let a Foreign Entity, Mexico, join in this lawsuit against one of the sovereign states of this union... The U.S. Justice Department on Tuesday filed a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of Arizona's new law targeting illegal immigrants.....

This is going to be the main issue which will "break the back" of Obama and his Administration clowns. I can hardly wait to see how the history books will record this "administration wrangling".

However, I bet the Attorney Generals, and this Administrations, stance on the Black Panthers violating the Voter Rights Act will not be mentioned in the history books.

The Obama administration initially pursued the case, winning a default judgment in federal court in April 2009 when the Black Panther members did not appear in court. But then the administration moved to dismiss the charges the following month after getting one of the New Black Panther members to agree to not carry a "deadly weapon" near a polling place until 2012. The department boasted that justice had been served.

The court case against the Black Panthers certainly has not made very many news articles, however, it should be at the top of the news once "testimony from J. Christian Adams, who resigned from the Justice Department last month in protest of the administration's handling of the case" will be conducted today. Hmmmm....still nothing on MSNBC about this issue.

So, the Justice Department is taking to court a State of the Union for upholding Federal Immigration Laws, but, is supporting extremist groups who violate the Voters Rights Act.

The Attorney General needs to hop on the Secretary of States' plane and visit foreign countries for awhile. Out of sight....out of mind.

In the case of Edgar v. Mite Corporation, 457 U.S. 624 (1982), the Supreme Court ruled that "A state statute is void to the extent that it actually conflicts with a valid Federal statute."

Since the Arizona law is patterned after existing Federal law (in fact it's even weaker), it's doubtful that the challenge will work. Federal appeals courts have already ruled that State law enforcement officials can enforce Federal immigration laws.

This is nothing but political posturing to gain Hispanic votes for Democrats in November.

Holder just admitted the administration has no intention of removing illegal aliens that do not have criminal records. They just unzipped their fly. Well, to the hundreds of thousands of illegals we and our system are a target, and they disrespect us for it. How do they disrespect us? They come and take advantage of our culture and system without so much as a thank you, but demand that we give it, and then come on Newsvine, the news, television, newspapers, community forums, and blast away at any that would stem the flow.

Now, don't get me wrong. I have seen resignation to despair, and utter lack of opportunity. Most often it can be traced to absolutely criminal leadership. I would not have any qualms whatsoever if there was a demonstrated need, and people came to this country LEGALLY to seek a means of feeding their children. However if that is indeed what is happening, then the country(s) of origin need to have their feet held to the fire and make some changes, such as rebuilding the middle class, and holding officials accountable for corruption and criminal behavior, and building up industry and trade to provide work for it's citizens...work by which they may earn a living, contribute to society, raise their children, and have some left over to play and perhaps help others (charitable giving). I mean, some of the hardest workers I have seen are Mexicans who do landscaping, construction, and so on. They are good at what they do, and take it to heart. I know that's not everyone, but they work as if hungry, and they recognize the opportunity...something of which we home-born Americans seem to have lost sight. And indeed, if we are whining about illegals, let us make sure that we ourselves are not people squandering our culture. Who knows, but maybe you will be the one, or one of your children, or someone you have taught, that will go to Mexico one day and teach a new technique, or build a community, or bring industry to an impoverished region. I mean, really, think about it. Would the average illegal want to come here if life was reasonable and productive at home?

The fix of the Mexican illegal immigrant problem? Clean up Mexico. Make Mexican culture and industry attractive to Mexicans. And how will that be done? That's where the effort needs to go. Not this infighting and lawsuits.

Interesting news in your post. Apparently, Holder and Obama don't know the definition of "crime" or "illegal."

1. Illegal entry into the USA.
2. No legitimate SSN. Isn't it a crime to not pay taxes or pay into Social Security?
3. No driver's license, auto insurance, and registration. Isn't that a crime?
4. Identity theft (SSNs, birth certificates, driver's licenses, etc.)
5. Documented cases of murder, assault, robbery, child molestation, rape, kidnapping, gangs (and crimes directly associated with gang activity).
6. Food stamps, welfare, housing by using false documents.

Financial drains on American society. I call these "crimes of morality:"

1. Using emergency rooms as private physicians for medical problems, causing long wait-times for paying consumers.

4. Low-to-no-cost school meals and child care services, often 365 days/year.

Unless the people who do not want to give "laborers" in the US working the fields want to step in their shoes and do the same work they do on a daily basis, then these people need to make sure to tell/write their congressmen to create a "path" to ctizenship without having to send them and their children back to Mexico. NJ and Zero, do you happen to know how much one of these immigrants earns during a day of picking fruit? Say for example, apples. Or cherries. I live in Washington state, and posted on a dry erase board in our local WorkSource office (think unemployment office) is a notice that reads:

"Agricultural jobs" and listed underneath are companies and the type of work. I know a fellow employee that quit his job to pick fruit, where he earns around $150 a day. Multiply that out, and say he works only 6 days a week(has to sleep sometime). That's $3,870 a month. That's equivelant to a college graduated professional working out at the Hanford cleanup site. What he doesn't get are the benefits...vacation pay, medical insurance, and so on. There is an opportunity there that Americans...who used to do this type of work...do not see, and therefore do not take advantage of. We pay a guy $25 to mow our lawn. He also works at a Wahlgreen's pharmacy. It takes him 1/2 hour to mow and edge our lawn. That's $50 an hour. True, I make about that working as a server at an Outback Steakhouse (no comments about the Outback, please...that's not the point), but it's not a 40 hour per week job at that kind of wage. So even if I worked 20 hours and made that kind of wage, that's $1,000 a week, before taxes. No worries, though, the economy has made sure I don't make that kind of money.

The point is, we as Americans feel entitled, and have forgotten what our forefathers knew so very well. America, the land of opportunity. When was the last time you heard those words in any serious conversation? Well, if Americans aren't saying it, you better believe the poor and disillusioned in Mexico sure are! And while we sit and blame Obama and wring our hands and talk about how bad things are, and people are losing their homes, maybe Mr. Executive should be willing to mow a few lawns, get some blisters, do some sweating. Maybe Mr. Downsized should be willing to go to some of those orchards, and learn to pick fruit. That's how our forefathers did it, when times got tough, and they thanked God for the opportunity to do it.

And to any who might be arrogant enough to say that such work as picking fruit, or mowing lawns is beneath them, then know that there are many situations in life that are designed to teach us. Being in need is one of them. So is getting the &(&^ kicked out of you for being a jerk. Opportunities may come in places you never expected, and while it may involve stepping out of your comfort zone, maybe callouses look good on you, and perhaps you'll thrive in the work, as your cholesterol levels even out, your blood pressure declines, and your fat percentage drops.

However at this stage, I wonder what would happen if a white or black American were to show up at an orchard to pick fruit. We've left it to the immigrants for so long, perhaps we're no longer welcome.

I heard a really good analysis of a possible reason that the big O has pursued this agenda which is so unpopular ... and at least to me it made a lot of sense.

The calculus goes something like this ... he (the big O) is hoping that the voting moderates will vote this fall on a broad range of issues and maybe with some good news here and there he can hold the line with them (or as I would say fool them again!). During a law enforcement stop if a person can not present ID then the police officer should pursue the issue. Everyone who has ever been stopped by a police officer knows that the first thing they ask for is ID. Why is that so horrible? When you get stopped by the police while driving or on the street and asked to produce an ID, what do you give them? A drivers license? A State ID card? Why is it perfectly fine for law abiding Americans to have to carry an ID which proves their status as citizens (as most drivers licenses do), but illegals in this country do not? And how is that racist???? Why do you not scream racism or profiling when you are asked for ID when you buy liquor or cigarettes?

Illinois drivers licenses are color & bar coded to show if the driver is a non-citizen. I'm sure most States have a similar practice. Is that racist? Of course not, it just shows if you can drive and status of citizenship, nothing more . If someone is asked for ID and does not have one, the police will not just let you go with "Sorry, I forgot it at home" no matter what race, color, etc, a person is...and it is not profiling. That will be cleared up once you get to the station. If you can have someone bring in ID, your free to go....if not, well, it may be a very, very long ride home.

A state can enforce Federal Immigration Law under the precendent that it already does enforce Federal Drug Law.

If you read the law you will see that Arizona's new law is within the constraints of the Federal law. So there is no expansive/intrusive argument to be had.

States enforce Federal Drug law all the time. States can enforce immigration as well.

The Feds need to handle the job given to them. You can't refuse to selectively enforce the law - that is a bigger breach of precedence than those who have chosen to enfoce the Federal law at a local level (a very common practice in everystate).

Chris, you need to readjust your "facts." As of 2008 about 61% of all illegal aliens are Mexicans. Another 14% are South/Central Americans. 8% are Asian. That leaves about 17% "all others." So, as to the focus on Mexicans, I would suggest that attacking the biggest problem first is generally a rational way to go.

As to how you came up with that ridiculous 1/4 figure, I have to ask? Are you from California? Because the 1/4 number does apply...almost. California has 1/4 of the TOTAL illegal immigrants. And I would bet that most of them are Hispanic.

Would you complain that it was racial if a white man was stopped and had a heavy European accent and was asked for ID? However, a large portion of that cost is directly related to Illegal Residents Unpaid Medical Care; and passed on via Medical Insurance higher premiums; and higher billed costs to our citizens; and the Federal Government does nothing.

These are just a few of the issues each American deals with on a daily basis, that's directly related to the Illegal Resident Issue.

The Constitution is very clear on the steps "Immigrants" must take to become legal citizens and residents of this country; up to and including, Learning the language of the Land and applying for Citizenship. You're right they have no business interfering with the AZ Law since it's already being challenged by the aclu and others. It's called pandering to the Pedro's and the la raza and mecha crowd.
