I agree with #4. Her past history will show she is & has been a racist! She should have NEVER been hired for any position in the government.
And you, Mr. Witt, what government office are you qualified to fill? The Thought Police comes to mind . . .
And Mr. Witt shows that, even after all of this, some people learn nothing.
Gen X/Y, this racial dust-up is PROOF that the older generation is incapable of over coming their old outdated personal biases (White vs. Minority, Repud vs. Dem, Christian vs. Muslim vs. Jew) and coming together so as to make a united front in the goal of making America #1 again.
Gen X/Y, leave the old ways to the old people...
America has not been #1 for a long time. The majority of so-called Americans sold their soul for cheap goods, via government sponsored product dumping and most especially for the "cradle to grave" socialist government. The joke is on us, the Soviets did not lose the Cold War, we did. We became just like them.
leftcoastbllue cannot even find the proper term to insult you with. "Thought Police" comes from George Orwell's 1984, a very anti socialist book. That job would fit leftcoastblue a lot better.
'
Mr. Witt, please read or listen to the full transcript. You're a victim of those who pulled out a portion of her statement, which completely distorts what she said and did. The white farmer "victims" have thanked her for her role in saving their farm.
No living white person in the United States ever owned a slave and no living minority was ever a slave in the United States and yet that is still held against whites so why would this b!tch get a pass for something she did personally? There was no injustice here. If this had been a white person doing the exact same thing, regardless of the context or circumstances, minorities would be crucifying her and Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson would be on every media outlet possible calling for her head! Therein lies the real injustice of the situation, a black racist is a victim and a white racist is Satan incarnate!
Sure, all you blind supporters will scream "watch the whole video" or "read the full transcript" but I have and making a moral out of the story or trying to flip it around doesn't excuse the beliefs, the thought process, the behavior, etc. You're probably the same people screaming about the mistreatment of blacks and their oppression but unless someone is about 60+ years old they didn't really experience any of that and yet some reason those lessons learned don't matter! Hipocrisy!
@ Witt: Your thinking is right in line with you party and your party's leader. The Tea Party Express led by Mark Williams. Continue, and folks like you will bring down what started out as a pretty credible movement.
Voice_of_Reason: What if, what if.
It wasn't a white person, it was this person and the facts of the case show that she was not then and not now a racist. She was maybe biased and uneducated, became educated and then matured, which is what she said in her speech. Yes, "watch the video" (AKA, take an educated view).
And by the way, the logic of your rant is hypocritcal. You say that white people should not be judged for the history of others while a black person should be. You need to treat a person for the person they are. To do otherwise, is, well, racist ;-)
Ed-543056, actually not! My argument was that whites shouldn't be judged by the history of other whites while this woman should be judged by and held accountable for her own history, that's not hypocritical at all! I would suggest you get educated and learn what logic actually is before you go criticizing others. I was merely pointing out the hypocrisy of whites being held accountable for the mistakes of others but this woman isn't being held accountable for her own! Why should she get a pass because she "learned from her mistakes" but whites who never made the mistakes of others are somehow still responsible? If you can't see that then you're clearly not capable of an "educated view"!
"Blaming the victim" is a prime hallmark of not only racism, but of many anti-social mindsets, among them rape, spousal abuse, fraud, robbery, burglary, etc.
... why would this b!tch get a pass for something she did personally .... Therein lies the real injustice of the situation, a black racist is a victim and a white racist is Satan incarnate!
She got a pass because she learned to live together, which is what she said. Even the white farmer in question agrees that she did right by him.
And you may want to pull your puncheds before you call people "racist" and "B...." without understanding the facts. It makes you appear ignorant.
Ed-543056, again, get an educated perspective.
Even the white farmer in question agrees that she did right by him.
She did the bare minimum of her job, she even admitted she only did enough so she wouldn't get in trouble and then passed the farmer's case onto some other "whitey".
Again, why does she get credit for doing the job she was supposed to? She admittedly didn't even do it to the best of her ability and that was purposely because the farmer was white! If that's not racist then what is? Who wouldn't call that behavior racist? I don't care if she learned from it, it's racist behavior and it's not ignorant to say so. It's also not ignorant to call someone a b!tch who, after supposedly learning a lesson, jokes about such racist behavior!
Who's being ignorant here? I'm not fabricating a story, I'm just saying what's on the video. You and others like you are the ones rationalizing, justifying, defending, etc. You talk about context and learning lessons but she clearly felt little remorse for her actions when laughing about them and making jokes about them. As they say "actions speak louder than words".
She saved his farm.
What did you want her to do?
And could you please stop using the "B..." word in polite discussion? A soap sandwich may help with that problem.
It's important to consider history in this situation. Blacks have been discriminated against, and still are, regularly. When the roles switched and Sherrod had the upper hand, she thought about doing the same thing back. However, she learned and in the end did the right thing.
I wonder how many black farmers were not helped to the "full extent" by a white USDA official. Where was the outrage about that in the 50's and 60's? How many whites learned to do the right thing.
White Americans still live a privileged life. They still make the rules. Do you think I'm wrong? Go to a store and watch who gets helped by the workers. I've seen blacks that waited in line and were skipped over by store workers to help white shoppers.
Discrimination is still alive and well in the United States.
without understanding the facts. It makes you appear ignorant.
The facts are clear and on the undedited video. She admitted she used to dislike people based on their skin color and gave preference to another group based on skin color. Would you feel the same if it were a white representative on the Republican side who was seen on tape using the "N" word 20 yrs ago? No. You'd be pinning it on the entire Republican party or the Tea Party. Ironically, the party who elected a black man in the 1800's and the Democrats held out til the 1960s.
Lately I've seen what the left calls racism. It's a white person who does not agree with Obama's policies. Ironically those same people claim just the opposite for anyone who bashes the policies and beliefs of Condi Rice and Colin Powell. The little boy has cried wolf too many times. Nobody is going to believe the legitimate cries for help any more.
What this woman did in her past isnt' unforgivable, but it's alot more than calling a group (mostly white) "a bunch of nappy headed ho's" that got someone else fired because 1/3 of them were black and he must have been talking about them.
Now Hold on A Minute – Abdrew Breitbart of Faux News
I have until last night not followed this story and for the first time since it hit the airwaves, a couple or three days ago, I am starting to see what all the print is about. It seem this low life Andrew Breitbart (Faux News), this is the same fabricator, smear expert without remorse put in to action mode two impostors, dressed as street hooker and her pimp, to go from office to office to office to office of Acorn only to be found to have tampered with his evidence, the hidden tape, and for all intents and purposes discredited. Somewhat of a scumbag claiming to be exposing massive corruption on the part of Acorn and a champion of all that is moral and proper. A un-indicted felon that was probably behind that other scum the one caught trying to “bug” the office of a member of congress. This felon (the would be office bugger) was the “pimp” used by and the protégé of scum bag Andrew Breitbart (Faux News), scumbag extraordinaire.
Now, right off the bat, when one employees the services of even two people posing as hooker and pimp that person is suspect in my eyes, thank you. To make matters worse the very same people (a family farmer and his family) his target (Ms. Sherrod) was supposedly harming are coming to her defense, this just seems surreal to me. What ScumBag Breitbart (Faux News) didn‘t count on, was this same white family who was supposedly rejected by a certain Ms. Sherrod is speaking out in support and defending the lady he claims is raciest. Say What?
Irony of ironies which our national ScumBag Breitbart (Faux News) did not see coming his way, does this scum never learn from his past?
It seems that his stock in trade is making up stories via the editing of video tape and putting a spin on the said tape to further the interests of “The Tea Party”, so he claims, which said spin in this case is black racism. Hello, I repeat his quest in life is to expose black racism, I find it hard to imagine such a person would even exist. Who is supporting this scum? Is that his sole purpose in life? Get a real job you scumbag!!!
Last night I heard a Senator bemoaning “The Party of NO” for holding up the release of the final course of legislation for the unemployed, YES, you heard me right “The Party of NO” is holding up the process to get much needed money into the hands of 2.4 million. I’ll repeat, “The Party of NO” is holding up the release of measly amounts of money to individual families. This number of Americans, all sides agree to the number it seems, is 2.4 (that is almost two and one half million) million Americans many whose only means of support is this money. I have as most, (lucky Americans to have jobs), been working my “job” and in between the emails, phone calls and routine matters of everyday posting on some other subject have been unaware that this scumbag Andrew Breitbart (Faux News), he is not that bright up in the brain, was at it again.
Now the holding up, pardon the pun, of the money for unemployed American individuals and families. I thought that was where part of my taxes are suppose to be used, I guess not, boy am I mixed up.
It seems these Senators live in the most ornate of ivory towers.
More to follow as I have business correspondence to create for a proposal to lease or purchase a 25,000 Sq. Ft. industrial building sitting on almost three acres. Big commission for me here, a lot larger than doing the refinances and consulting I have been doing for the last year.
Hang tight my fellow Americans and always……………….Persevere
PS: I was recently asked by the most dense of posters to stop posting, my answer is I am only getting started and now I am starting to feel “fired up”, energized by “The Party of NO”.
The job decision of Ms. Sherrod is her business, though I have an opinion it is not for me to vote on such a matter.
Her comments about turning the white farmer over to "one of his own" was completely uncalled for and still shows she is racist. These words were worse than all others. "One of his own". Come on, if a white said that they would get run out of town. It's a sign of the free ride the liberal press gives minorities and elitists.....Matt Lauer as one.
It is also the primary reason the majority of Americans are turning to Fox. The free ride the liberal media is throwing out, i.e., New Panthers, ACORN, Van Jones, etc., makes them untrustworthy. Wise up NBC.
Post Script to my Post #1.18 -
My only excuse is I am typing fast as I have real work to do and should have caught my spelling of that scumbag at the top of my post it of course should read
"Andrew Breitbart Scumbag of Faux News"....................Sorry
Allen, it makes no difference who was the first one to elect a black man - what made the impact on daily life was that BOTH the Democrats and the Republicans were white parties with racists who were never called on it, never told by either party to not discriminate. Racism was not ever discussed in public on a broad scale until the '60's and it was nothing like today. Segregation was practiced, not discussed. It was not until the repeal of the poll taxes before the Republican Party tried to change its spots to get the Southern black vote. After poll taxes were declared illegal, it took a few years for other things to stop...things like no voting unless questioners at the polls got answers about Old English history or proof of things which were ridiculous, and the intimidation of many white men loitering and calling racial slurs at the voting booths. If you study factual history rather than Republican talking points for political gain, you may be surprised about many things!
I am white. I think Obama is another Reagan. I do not agree with some of Obama's policies and am disappointed in him in some ways. Does that make me a racist? No, it makes me feel let down because I thought the guy I voted and worked for was a Democrat who embraced the challenges of the 21st Century and cared more about the people of this country than the continued control of government by big business. Big business controls every part of our lives - just look!
I grew up in Mississippi in the 50's and '60's - I know racists when I see them. I know all the tricks of diversion, all the talking out of both sides of the mouth, all the insincere innocent looks and denials, all the signal words, all the not helping and hindering of people because of the color of their skin and the possibility of poor people getting generations of good educations and opportunity. I saw myself and other whites get favors and opportunities because of the color of our skins. I saw other whites go nuts because they were afraid of black people getting educations and opportunities that showed how capable they were, therefore, giving them more power over their own lives -just like everyone else- and maybe even political power, the first thing that the Republicans saw.
I look at the whole spectacle of Republican World, after Bush and how the party is now, and I'll never vote for a Republican again in my lifetime. I hear Republicans trying to toot their racial whistles and the spin, the lie, of it all turns my stomach. Before Republicans can impress anyone again, they are going to have to fess up, clean up their act, quit being opportunists to the point of rewriting history for their own political gain - in fact, Republicans need to sit down and ask themselves just how sincere they really are when it comes to race, too. If it walks like a duck, talks, like a duck, etc. Republicans are only fooling themselves.
Trying to use debating skills or to out-talk or to spin rather than discussing problems and concerns out in the open and honestly, respecting facts rather than spin - and making the effort to come to agreement...where is the Republican intent for that? What kind of discussion do you expect when you come to the table acting like smarta$$es rather than statesmen?
Calling obvious racists out and down in the Republican Party - where is that? What does not doing that tell us about Republican intent? It harkens back to the insincere '60's!
Voting NO in Congress just to be against Obama...what's that all about? All politics only? Representing business instead of the people? It all shows intent and even ownership!
Mrs. Shirley Sherrod - and please take time to know her name -Do you want to hold against her what you would have felt (probably even more-so) if you had been in her shoes? My question is could you have overcome her history to rise above it and try to understand the farmer enough to help him, become a friend, and then go on to use the experience to inspire others to put their racial hatred down for the good of ourselves and therefore, the good of our country? Could you do that? Could you do it now please?
@Russell Spear:
As a writer by trade, I am well aware of literary allusions I choose to make. However, from the tone and content of your post, I can only assume you are so narrowly literal-minded you are unable to understand the English language when used with its full flexibility, vigor and thrust.
Any "thought policing" organization would want to employ a mind-reader, which is what I was accusing mr. witt of being.
Now see if you can find the right word to display your vacuousness.
all you blind supporters
Voice_of_Reason, don't grenade-troll.
Several comments restored.
...
I don't see why Sherrod would want back in.
You still have not watched the tape in its entirety. The speech was about why she became a racist (her father was murdered by the KKK, no one was prosecuted), and what happened that made her realize that her racism was based on mistaken beliefs and was not founded in reality. She realized that the divisions are about poverty, ignorance and fear - not race.
She was referring to this transformative event in her life that happened decades ago, long before she was employed at the USDA. She was sharing it in the hope that it would inspire all people with racists beliefs and perspectives to understand that race is not the issue. Ignorance, poverty and fear are the issues.
Her career is a testimony to the fact that she outgrew her racist perspective decades ago and has worked tirelessly on behalf of the disenfranchised and disempowered, the most vulnerable people in our society, without regard to race.
No one on this board, including you, can claim to have done a fraction of what this woman has to help all people who are powerless, no matter what their differences were.
I hope she goes on the lecture circuit. I felt honored to hear the story of personal growth an awakening that she shared.

Breitbart is a frequent and regular "guest" commentator on Fox News. He does not appear as a commentator (regular or otherwise) on other news networks, largely because he is not a trusted source of information, and offers only a disingenuous, racist and neo-conservative partisan perspective - all traits that make him ideally suited for Fox News.
So while he may not be on the payroll, he is certainly routinely "employed" by Fox News.
You are the one who needs to "try again."

you moron the past history shows that this is a fabricated story...or have you not been paying attention, got your head wedged up glenn becks azz you can probly taste what he had for breakfast...you repubs are sooo stupid its all ideology and no thought..whatever boner says
Mr. Witt, you obviously don't have your wits about you. Listen to her entire speech and stop watching those idiots on Fox.
It's important to consider history in this situation. Blacks have been discriminated against, and still are, regularly. When the roles switched and Sherrod had the upper hand, she thought about doing the same thing back. However, she learned and in the end did the right thing.
BS! She ADMITTED to only giving the help that would save her @z and her job! How blind are you all? Again, I invite you to visit where I live and see what REVERSE discrimination REALLY looks like. Here's a hint....I'm in the SOUTH, just like Sharrod.
You want so bad to have your way, that you won't see the truth of this situation. She got her fifteen minutes, and now she has her future paid for.
The woman learned nothing more than how to scam the system by crying victim, just like the rest of her brothers, sisters and cousins who have their hand out because their grandfather sixty times before them, was enslaved (some by their own race), and their grandmothers sixty times before them, had to care for the white man's children, as their job. What a tough job, eh? 2 or 3 well-mannered (and they were back then) kids should be nothing compared to the pain and suffering you are enduring today, right? /sarcasm
Voice of reason is absolutely right. They are making whites pay for something the ones on this earth today, had nothing to do with. And they are doing that by crying victim, discrimination, restitution over and over and over...because "my ancestors went through slavery"...blah, blah and more blah. Your ancestors are all pretty much dead today. What they LEFT you, was NOT to learn to grab what isn't yours, but to be proud of yourself and LEARN from the past, not throw it up in people's faces that had nothing to do with it, just so you don't have to take responsibility for your own life!
NONE of you posting on this board deserve restitution or anything else for those in the past, and NONE of those you condemn today for those acts, were caused by the people on the earth today.
But yet, every chance that comes along, a race card is played for the benefit of gaining money that doesn't belong to the people crying wolf!
Basically, the woman is, and always will be racist in her thoughts. Even more so now, since it was a white man that called for her resignation.
If Sharrod takes a job, it will knock me off my feet, because the way I see it, is she has three lawyers waiting in the wings, counseling her in her earpiece, while they calculate how much she and they can make off of this.
You people who cry she is going to be treated badly if she goes back to work...who do you think you're fooling? This woman will have everyone scrambling to jump through hoops for her now. And no, it's not rightfully deserved. She crucified herself by speaking words that should never have been spoken, if she didn't want it known how she really feels.
There ARE a few people that aren't blinded by the smoke.
Dorrit Post #1.22 – here is my experience written quickly
I love your post and the level moderate tone is enviable. I was worked up before I posted today due to a conversation yesterday. I vote Republican for our local Federal Congressional Representative and for most local officials; the Democrat near to us is in another district. I suppose I can be pigeonholed as what used to be called a NIMBY not totally but certainly to a degree. I will plea-bargain and plead guilty to hypocrisy, yes guilty as charged, as part of my plea bargain. Life threw us a curve ball and our next-door neighbor sold their home to an African American and Hispanic wife. Now this might send a racist into a deep depression or worse. He is retired (Aerospace Industry) and donates his time to various Boys & Girls Clubs in our valley in addition to being a lay preacher, he will preach to the church members at times within his church. I see all ethnic types, young boys over to clean his yard (he could do the work himself) and he finds work around our senior complex for as many young boys and girls as he can. I sometimes hear him counseling someone on his cell phone to "do right", "don't do that now!" "I'll be at the church meet there in one hour" and other words to this affect. We are not backslapping buddies but we get along just fine and his wife is great. We laugh and make fun each other but because of my agnosticism we always have this impenetrable invisible wall. My whole point here is to say the law of Karma has dealt with my NIMBYISM. I see so many young white teenage boys with this black man displaying total respect it really makes me stop and think, what could be and the lessons these young white teenagers are learning about life. We have them do our yard, them being the young black, white and brown teenagers that need the money so desperately. I could easily do the work or have Julio, the local gardener down the street, do it for half or less of the cost but I can see from the clothes on their backs these kids are not from my neck of the woods.
All this leads us to this, that there is a moral in what I have tried to describe and the follow up an incident which yesterday put me into a bad mood for today.
I was put into a three way conference call with a "friend" that had moved to Arizona in the north east below Flagstaff, the hinterlands with dirt roads, dust, rattle snakes, jack rabbits and who knows what else. My miserable white friend thinks he has it made living in a 2400 Square Foot home in the middle of nowhere, just his miserable self and wife that I do not know. He is a racist through and through and thinks we need a revolution the nature of he did not describe. He is in my opinion semi-illiterate; ill read, listens to slob Limbaugh everyday and thinks Glen Beck walks on water. The Tea Party in 2010 and the White House in 2012. Here is the punch line, I told him we always vote for our local Republican Congressional Representative and Democrat State. He then proceeded to get all worked up and finally referred to our moderate Congressional Representative as a RHINO. Here is a person living in a welfare state with a low state sales tax that he is not happy about and mooching off the Union because his state cannot pay their way. I had to hold myself back from going off on him, what a jerk. Then he prompts me to move out to Arizona because of the low cost of living. I explain I live in "golfers and tennis players heaven" it makes not one bit of difference he makes a stupid remark in reference to California a creditor state.
Ladies and gentleman this is emblematic of our country today. The idiots have taken over the village, unless the good and decent unite and beat back the hordes of delusional self-absorbed racists once and for all we are doomed. This is the best I can do to illustrate life as I am right now experiencing such in this very moment in my country. The good and just people of our country must unite, that is my hope.
Have a good day I am out of here…………….
PS: The hammer will come down the next time I speak with this trash and we will hopefully never speak again. Oh my goodness what has happened to our country?
Your post shows how much of a racist jerk you are. I guess reading the entire story was too much to ask of you, or.. can you read?
More trash - Don't strain yourself with so many words, was that hard to write?
Take a hike to Zonie land would you please? I should have left before more trash showed up, my fault.
Ourdoc??? more delusion, what did I say about self-delusion?.....Read !!!!!
ourdoc - what a puke of a doctor of what? Did something hit a nerve?
Are you a real doctor? Or only play one? Like to think of yourself as a doctor?
An illiterate doctor how fitting and how hilarious thanks for the laughs.
Adios Amigo...................just kidding
I wonder how many black farmers were not helped to the "full extent" by a white USDA official. Where was the outrage about that in the 50's and 60's? How many whites learned to do the right thing.
White Americans still live a privileged life. They still make the rules. Do you think I'm wrong? Go to a store and watch who gets helped by the workers. I've seen blacks that waited in line and were skipped over by store workers to help white shoppers.
Discrimination is still alive and well in the United States
Exactly WHY do you feel a need to turn this around on whites? Is that the ONLY argument you can come up with to convince yourself that her wrong doing wasn't her fault, or wasn't wrong? SHE condemned herself. She ADMITTED to it. Nobody did it to her or for her. Nobody twisted her arm, nor did they hold a gun against her head to make her say the words she said.
Go to a store and see who gets helped by the workers???? HAHAHAHA, you DO live in a bubble, don't you?
Come to the stores where I live and see the MANY black people who control these stores by their racist attitudes. Come see how many WHITE people get waited on with a smidgen of decency from these "workers". Try to be white and wait for one of them to smile at you. No way! They'll snub you and spit on you though. And then you all wonder why race breeds? When you plant a seed, what do you expect to grow? Popsicles?
Come to a fast food restaurant where I live and if you're white, try to make an order or even get a "worker" to look at you while you give that order.
Come stand in the unemployment line with me down here, and see how many blacks come up while I'm standing there, long before they showed up, and they get attention first.
I would say, getting free food, housing, medical, welfare and other niceties is living the "privileged life".
Wish I could get all that. But instead, I get the finger.
Pop that bubble and come out into the REAL world!
This woman's father was murdered by the KKK and people wonder why she doesn't like white people? I wouldn't either.
Give her a break. Calling her a "racist" is ignorant.
Lady Liberty has to be crying.
...and indeed, what is our country coming to when people resort to planning for "the hammer [to go] down" while in conversations with those who make spectacles of themselves? What does it prove to the one with whom we wish to share ideas? That you can be just like them? That they have forced you to their level?
There are many silent Americans - of all races and creeds - who go about their daily lives without joining in the current insane witch hunts, finger-pointing, insults, and hate. Most simply stay away from them and do not engage in conversation with them. If we all left Newsvine to them, they would go away because they are here to push buttons, feel big, or try to convince themselves that they are right. After all, they had rather be Right than Free. Have you noticed how their numbers drop off here when they do not get talking points and when they do get them, it is so obvious how they all use the same words and appear at the same time? It's like teens and the newest fad. That's all. It is their thrill. For me it is like being stuck in a room with them in the '60's....the same fears, the same insecurities, the same pointless hate comes pouring out of them and I feel just as sick to my stomach now as I did then.
In fact, I think I will "persevere" by finding a more thoughtful place to read and post - I've seen enough. It's nothing new or original or constructive and it makes me feel like I need a shower. There is no way the door will hit me on the way out, but I will click my heels when I do!
Be well, everyone....please, be well!
dorrit -
Since you have addressed me I think you deserve an answer. The "hammer" is a modern day expression of putting your foot down or saying what is truly on your mind even dispatching someone whom you do not want to associate with. I think this expression came into common parlance before your time. I do not share your what I consider the "turn the other cheek" philosophy in the least.
I enjoyed your first post and I wish you would have left it at that, but no, you had to aim your snit towards me. Click you high heels and make sure you watch for that swinging door it just may hit you where least suspect. In your holier than thou place...............you think it will not?
Good Night....and Bye...find your prim and proper site where love abounds forever more....good luck in your search, glad tidings
dorrit – wow had to type fast Post#1.38 now for a short time things are quite - just for you.
I had to type fast and thus post fast this posting is addictive once started in earnest. I have just returned and I should have said “the hammer” expression had come after your time. I could not stoop to the level of some toad burping out hatred, racial slurs without the slightest knowledge of economics while leaching from the rest of The United States. I have no intention of placating and being a sounding board for idiocies. I will dispatch that fool in Arizona in due time there is no hurry. I think your assessment of most of the hatred filled postings is correct, repetitious to a fault. I don’t know where you came from (site) but on this site you need sharp elbows, I have learned. One is well advised to take time off from time to time; it is most likely mentally unhealthful to engage the low lives that come to this site to post hatred over a long period of time. The vast majority are as children and want to see themselves in print, it most be such a thrill. No content nor positive substantial contribution in nearly most of the postings of the racist, bigots, misogynists and far right wing nuts. Welcome to my world, it is not pretty here and why posters would come to MSNBC when their natural habitat would be at Faux Noise is something I will never figure out. It must be the childish element you refer to. I will leave them to wallow in their hatred soon enough but till then I will give them hell and reality through the truth as I see said truth. It seems to me you want to win over the hate mongers I think that to be naïve and even childish like no disrespect but the vermin that come to this site are rid of with not air freshener but with terminix, pure 100% unadulterated. Here dorrit, I have an old Woody song I leave you with I hope you find your “Pastures of Plenty”. I believe we will cure the migrant farm worker problem soon and it will be with Americans toiling those fields the only jobs left.
"It's a mighty hard row that my poor hands have hoed
My poor feet have traveled a hot dusty road
Out of your Dust Bowl and Westward we rolled
And your deserts were hot and your mountains were cold Guthrie
I worked in your orchards of peaches and prunes
I slept on the ground in the light of the moon
On the edge of the city you'll see us and then
We come with the dust and we go with the wind
California, Arizona, I harvest your crops
Well it's North up to Oregon to gather your hops
Dig the beets from your ground, cut the grapes from your vine
To set on your table your light sparkling wine
Green pastures of plenty from dry desert ground
From the Grand Coulee Dam where the waters run down
Every state in the Union us migrants have been
We'll work in this fight and we'll fight till we win
It's always we rambled, that river and I
All along your green valley, I will work till I die
My land I'll defend with my life if it be
Cause my pastures of plenty must always be free"……Woody
Good Night to you, Woody wherever you are ole pal......................................
Breitbart that created the fraudulent, edited video hit piece against Sherrod, also engineered the non-scandal ACORN hit job with his fake pimp and fake hookers. Both lies convinced hasty leaders in Washington DC to reject both.
So far, I haven't heard of any conservative GOP leaders on prime-time TV, saying that what Breitbart and what Fox News did in regards to Sherrod, was morally wrong. Why is that?
And last I checked, Breitbart is still a welcomed and infrequent, if not regular guest on Fox News. Why does that not surprise me?
I'd take the job if I were here, esp if it came with an apology and a raise. Jobs are hard to come by in this economy. A good gov job is some thing I wouldn't pass up.
dorrit - I was going to give you this link and left without doing so.
I was typing a letter and thought to take a quick coffee break and remembered I did not link the song "Pastures of Plenty" just for you. Here is your link with ole Woody himself singing his song.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BH2DJvgNlMA
I hope you enjoy it I linked this for you as a farewell song............
You are darn right that if she was white they would have her hanging from the rafters......this is obvious discrimination. The President should be applauding her firing instead of begging forgiveness....UGH! And don't get me started on the NAACP.....talk about racist!
I totally agree with #4. Had she been a white person and this story surfaced as in her case, the white person would have been dismissed in a heartbeat, regardless of the outcome of the story. Let her stay fired!
So, because she is a black person, we should not treat her as an individual and judge the merits of her case?
Hmmm.
So, because she is a black person, we should not treat her as an individual and judge the merits of her case?
She should be judged the same way a white man would be is what he's saying. Are you advocating preferential treatment for people with black skin? What part of equality doesn't make sense to you?
The precedent has been set by liberals though. If you see a basketball team photo where their hair is all messed up and say they "look like a bunch of nappy headed ho's", if there was a black female in the photo, regardless of who he was talking about, he was fired and accused of racism. If you see a sign at a Tea Party rally you think is racist, the entire group is racists without even checking the merits of the individuals.
What this woman did was WAY worse with indeputable proof she was doing it because they were white and you're defending her?
People, she should ONLY be judged ot all the facts, the decision to fire, was without due process, as guaranteed in the bill of rights. learn your Rights people, this has nothing to do about race, but everybody is making it so, this prejudice is bringing us back to the pre 60's I can't believe the inane stupidity of my fellow countrymen, I am ashamed to be American when i read this kind of story!!! thanks to the far right, we are quickly loosing our rights guaranteed by both the Constitution and Bill of Rights. don't help by loosing sight of the law also.
Now Hold on A Minute – Andrew Breitbart Scumbag of Faux News
A un-indicted felon that was probably behind that other scum the one caught trying to "bug" the office of a member of congress. This felon (the would be office bugger) was the "pimp" used by and the protégé of scum bag Andrew Breitbart (Faux News), scumbag extraordinaire.
What ScumBag Breitbart (Faux News) didn't count on, was this same white family who was supposedly rejected by a certain Ms. Sherrod is speaking out in support and defending the lady he claims is raciest. Say What?
Irony of ironies which our national ScumBag Breitbart (Faux News) did not see coming his way, does this scum never learn from his past?
It seems that his stock in trade is making up stories via the editing of video tape and putting a spin on the said tape to further the interests of "The Tea Party", so he claims, which said spin in this case is black racism. Hello, I repeat his quest in life is to expose black racism, I find it hard to imagine such a person would even exist. Who is supporting this scum? Is that his sole purpose in life? Get a real job you scumbag!!!
Last night I heard a Senator bemoaning "The Party of NO" for holding up the release of the final course of legislation for the unemployed, YES, you heard me right "The Party of NO" is holding up the process to get much needed money into the hands of 2.4 million. I'll repeat, "The Party of NO" is holding up the release of measly amounts of money to individual families. This number of Americans, all sides agree to the number it seems, is 2.4 (that is almost two and one half million) million Americans many whose only means of support is this money. I have as most, (lucky Americans to have jobs), been working my "job" and in between the emails, phone calls and routine matters of everyday posting on some other subject have been unaware that this scumbag Andrew Breitbart (Faux News), he is not that bright up in the brain, was at it again.
PS: I was recently asked by the most dense of posters to stop posting, my answer is I am only getting started and now I am starting to feel "fired up", energized by "The Party of NO".
The job decision of Ms. Sherrod is her business, though I have an opinion I personally feel it is not for me to vote on such a matter.
Stop your conservative race baiting and look at the facts if you have the ability. Fox and that blogger were caught deceiving the public by carefully editing a video and the Sec. of Agriculture fell for it. I guess by your statement you did as well. It is only race-related because the "Tea Baggers" didn't like truthfully being associated with racism as pointed out by the NAACP and by your statement it is very much the truth! So they manipulated the video to characterize this woman as making a racist speech and that because the NAACP sponsored the event they were made to look racist. Fox and Sec. Vilisack punished a woman for making an actually great statement where she overcame her prejudices to help ALL people(maybe you could learn something) in her position.
It doesn't matter at all what her race is, she was punished unfairly for a Contrived story, plain and simple, Anyone would have been treated the same and for you to make that statement proves you are clearly ignorant!
NewsFlash -
I was just speaking business with a refinance client and found out he is a closet racist, I will still structure his refinance with cash out but I think I will add a little more fees to be donated to NAACP just for good measure. Yep, it is time to swing into action and set a tee time this is getting a little much.
Lord help us..........
Hey Napachild -
If you are talking to me I would appreciate it if you would address me, I don't know who you are talking to. But, my fees are below what nearly every bank charges and my clients have the individual attention they would never receive at a commercial bank. In addition, I have the advantage of working with two CPAs and an Attorney which I can consult with at anytime. I could go on to mention the advantages of working with our firm but lets leave things as they are. Our clients gladly pay a little more for the speed and expertise which no mortgage bank or broker in the land, that I know of, offers. What I do with my money is of no concern to you, though I deserve any "blowback" that may come my way due to my post I am very capable of handling any irate poster. Bring it on. My money I can use as I see fit, case closed.
Ah what a message from Persevere...accuses Fox of mistruths and then spreads the biggest of all about "The Party Of No". They were not against the extension of unemployment...they merely wanted the money to come out of the left over "stimulus" money instead of borrowing more money...you remember the stimulus money for "shovel ready jobs"..too bad less than 5% of the 860 billion was allocated for those "jobs" that was going to keep unemployment under 8%...Of course then we have the brilliance of Reid who indicated that Ford might have gone bankrupt without the help of the Feds...or Shirley Jackson Lee, an expert on Foreign Affairs, who talked in great detail how South Vietnam and North Vietnam are able to share a common border and work out their differences and the classic of all by Nancy Pelosi, "First we have to pass the bill to find out what's in it." Ah such strong leadership and intelligence coming from the party of "yes we can..."
White people are so STUPID!! The people who are race race baiting - Fox News - have one objective in mind -POWER. They want to get all the stupid white people to watch their network so the can get advertising dollars and the want to get their votes so they can gain political power to protect their economic power. They don't care about the average citizen , whether they are poor and working class/middlwclass or whatever. They are just expoiting to gain power and keep power. They know race works. The reality is however that this is a diverse world and it is not ever going back to the days of aparthied, segregation and white superiority. Every generation more and more of the racists die so eventually they will be gone. The Sarah Palin's and Rush Limbaugh's and Glenn Beck's can expolit some of the people all the time but not all the people. no matter how people
AZ Valley Guy, the point is lost on you. At least TOm Vilsack actually gets it. He know's the damage he's cause as a party to this. If those of you who self identify with Conservatives were actual intellectually honest, you could get beyond yourselves. By the way, Trent Lott wasn't victimized by anyone but his own biggotted views which are still not evolved.
Make no mistake, people can change. It's called growth, maturity and learning. Try it sometime.
David Frum, former economic speechwriter for President George W. Bush makes a smart observation: When Dan Rather fell for a hoax about Bush’s war record in 2004, CBS kicked him to the curb. Now that Andrew Breitbart has published doctored videos that make a Department of Agriculture employee appear racist—and cost her her job—will he have to do the same? “Breitbart is the conservative Dan Rather,” Frum writes, “but there will be no discredit, no resignation for him.” Indeed, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and other conservatives are actually blaming President Obama and the NAACP for the whole brouhaha while neglecting to mention that Breitbart is the one who disseminated the video in the first place
She needs to sue for all it's worth. She needs to demand her full pension and a few million dollars for the slander that was imposed on her. It is obvious by the comments made here that the damage was done. There's no turning back the clock now. Sit back and force them to pay for the damage. The racism in the government is still rampant can you image being demanded to pull your car over to give your resignation, without even a peer review. The bigotry involved with that move is a good example of how whites have been treating blacks for a long time. This girl should sue and the punitive damages should run into the millions.
You can not expect Limbaugh, Beck and some of the conservatives to do the right thing; that does not tear down Obama. Their main object is to destroy Obama, and if this means tearing down America, so be it. You really have to fell sorry for small people with so much hate, and so little brains . Russ Limbaugh make quite a few millons per year, spewing racial hatred, but there must be a demand for it, otherwise it would have been buried with Alabama's Governor George Wallace. Wallace was an avid racist, but in the end his caregivers were all black; that had to be a culture shock of enormous portion. The lesson here, everybody be careful about how you treat others; Skin Color leaves at the grave, all human bones look the same.
I totally agree with #4. Had she been a white person and this story surfaced as in her case, the white person would have been dismissed in a heartbeat, regardless of the outcome of the story. Let her stay fired!
Really AZ Valley Guy??
So.....we just had a former WHITE member and leader of the KKK as the longest serving member on Capitol Hill just pass away. Guess that heartbeat was a very loooooong heartbeat.
Maybe the idea is something like this should happen to someone like you. Be railroaded into the loss of your job and career by a redneck wacko for doing absolutely nothing other than your job. Let's see how that sits with you and YOUR family.
I am sure you would enjoy "staying fired" just as much. Oh, and by the way...she was fired in a heartbeat (unjustly) just like a WHITE person would have and should have been if the same misleading garbage was put out there and hyped by "Fake" news!
Get a life!
AZ Guy - you really have a bone in your nose about reverse racism don't you....even if it does not apply in this case.
It's not just black/white as an issue. How many women earn less than men for doing the same job? We could go on and on about incidences of unfairness. They exist now and will in the future. The good news is that they are happening less frequently, and the disparities between groups are shrinking.
This woman has worked hard her whole life, and maybe she will want to retire. She is 63. I think it would be great if she came back to work, but can understand if she'd just rather take it easy instead. My sister - yes, a White person - retired at age 62. Sometimes folks are just ready to relax after 40 years of dedication.
So everyone lay off it and try to back off all the "tough guy" rhetoric. We have all been treated unfairly in our lives - The measure of your character is not whether that happened, but how you dealt with the situation. If you did so with dignity and civility and honesty, maybe your behavior will positively influence others.
AZ - look out. Some in your state are showing themselves to have a real bug in their boxers. Not attractive, or helpful.
She should go work in the private sector and make far more than she's making in the government.
Won't be long until there is no private sector - we will all either be government employees or living off the government dole. The handwriting is on the wall.
She shouldn't have to work at all. Her reputation has been slandered and the damage is obvious. Pay her the big bucks and let her retire.
SCSlim, you should take a look at the facts. Almost all government spending is managed by the private sector. Military spending keeps private contractors in business, Medicaid and Medicare employs managed care organizations, and is managed by private hospitals and practices, student loans go to private colleges, private construction companies manage the building of our public infrastructure for transportation, private companies manage public utilities, government insurance programs (FDIC) keep the private banking sector alive, etc., etc.
This meme that there is somehow this big difference between the public and private sectors is a load of cr*p. The fact is that the government contracts extensively with the private sector in every single one of its activities, including health care reform, and without the government as the single largest private business contractor in the country, most private businesses would shut down immediately.
If you are employed anywhere in the private sector right now, I can tell you how government contracts are making your job possible.
The only reason that it is being put out in every available avenue that there is this supposed difference is that although corporate taxes were rolled back to the point that the US Treasury was depleted, and regulations in every domain were repealed, corporations want to be taxed even less, and they want even less government regulation. Which we can see worked so very well during the Bush administration (not), as we continue to reap the results of eight years of deregulation and lowered corporate taxes.
The only thing that is apparently as bottomless as corporate greed is the average neo-cons gullibility.
After the trial of her defamation of character lawsuit why would she go to work anywhere. Unless it was the foreclosure of Rupert Murdoch's news agencies. It would serve them all right for the bullsh1t yellow-dog journalism they've been pushing for years. That is what I'd call poetic justice.
SCSlim -
Open a business if you think we need more private sector jobs. All the big capitalists unite and take back the country - not by screaming and grousing, but by doing something constructive like creating jobs here at home.
Oh - also - stop shopping at WalMart and all those great stores with products made overseas - India, China, Malaysia, Thailand, etc. Buy American. That supports US jobs. If you don't like the products selection, start your own business.
It's easy to complain about how politicians are making life tough. What are YOU doing to improve that? Replacing the politicians does not change anything. Capitalism is about taking initiative yourself regarding work. Some of the great energy in this country comes from entrepeneurs who are often recent immigrants - they really believe in the ideas that initially made this country great - starting a business, saving, investing the savings, and building wealth the old fashioned way - one step at a time.
Too many Americans like to complain - I'd like to see more who create instead of those who tear things down. It's hypocritical to complain about government take-overs if folks aren't willing to bring it themselves.
Stop grousing, start makingit happen!
She enjoyed recalling what she did, all those years ago, too much during her speech. If she really would've changed her spots, she would have told the story differently and been way more sincere about not being racist anymore instead of smiling and basking in the laughter and hollering of the other blacks in the audience. Let her go to Washington, she'll fit right in with the Obamas, Holder and then she can go ahead to Harvard, maybe that other racist and wannabe intellectual can make a documentary about both of them. That's the change we got, black racism!
There has not been any change, we have always had black racism. We have also, in case people have deliberately forgotten, black Antisemitism; remember the "hymie" remark? Unlike those who want to prove how "holy" they are by wearing a cloak of political correctness, I remember everything. Reality is my friend and I don't give a damn what people think.
To herewegoagaon-1972081 -White folks does this everyday , what the hell you talking about. We blacks have been listening for the last 300 years. She was talking about how she felt from being treated wrong, I get this everyday working with white folks so shut up. White folks has been the almighty for years. In the end like all of us of us we help.
If your father was killed by white KKK when you were a teen, you might have more malice in your heart than you already do! At least she has an excuse. What's yours?
To herewegoagaon-1972081 -White folks does this everyday
I do NOT do this every day nor have I EVER done it. I've had to listen to blacks call me names based on the color of my skin my entire life. Not all do it, but the ones who do are racists by definition. I was denied entry into my major of choice in college due to my race. There weren't enough to meet the quota of affirmative action, so whites were turned away.
Allen,
Minorities get called names everyday. Maybe you should move to a Southwestern state or the deep south.
herewegoagain-1972081
And what about the commentary of Mr and Mrs Spooner? Were they duped by the racist Sharrod into believing that she helped them save their farm? Were they duped into believing that the racist Sharrod isn't in fact a racist?
Did you even see the WHOLE speech? She wasn't gloating at all, she was using what she felt at the time to bring home the point that you see to miss. We are all human whether we are black or white. She grew from that point on to help everyone regardless of their color. Did you happen to see the white couple that she (according to FOX) didn't help? They came to her side and said she did more than enough for them and SAVED THEIR FARM What more do you want?????? Fox news should be ashamed of themselves. Even last night they didn't admit that they failed to check the honesty of that clip. They just want to do everything to dis credit Obama. When he was first elected, they said they "Hoped he'd fail" What a piece of work they are!!!
No, they seemed like normal honest people stating the facts. They never did see her as a racist. That's why I find it so amazing that people who know nothing about their experience with Sharrod deciding that they were duped by a racist. And yes, herewegoagain! Same old s---, different day! Why are you falling for the crap? Why are some of you nit-picking Sharrod? Where is the outrage of you being duped by the piece of crap that edited and tried to pass that video off as fact? I really had thought that Americans were past all this, but I see they are not! In the face of verifiable facts, they still choose to believe a lie! God help us.
Breitbart won in spite of everything. He won. Truth be damned.
Remember it is not racist if you are a minority. By the convential wisdom the minorities are not capable of racism, only the whites are racist. However, she was wrongly terminated in violation of the law and she should sue for the amount of wages from today to the end of her working life (with raises) and be retired at full pay. Her race or past actions have no bearing on the continuance of employment, and her great 1/2 black leader failer her, just like he is failing the nation.
Serioulsy 10 positve votes on your pathetic comments herewegoagain..wow how sad we have such biggots posting here and even more sad you believe what you hear on Fox.
I don't know of any color that doesn't have one racist in it. There are white racist and black racist. There are those that don't want equality and harmony but to make whites pay for the price of their ancestors. Somehow they enjoy that anger. Yes there are blacks that get discriminated against... just as Sherrod admitted... there are blacks that will discriminate in a heartbeat.. they are unable to see past the color of someones skin all the while they scream discrimination. This is no way to build equality.
People are right.. if a white person was to make those same remarks, including the revealing that they realized it was wrong and now bending over backwards for other races instead... will NEVER be forgiven because the negative publicity would not die. I've never heard Sharpton apologize for when he gets it wrong. He really doesn't care who he ruined in the process.
But I do know of a lot of whites and blacks that believe in making an effort to put aside the anger and misconceptions and listen to each other. Race is talked about with fear of being beaten over the head on either side. It really takes growing up and realizing that you really don't know the truth about each other or yourselves. It takes seeing each other as just plain human beings.
For all you people who are screaming that she should sue....
I have no doubt that you will get your wish. She has probably been "coached" already.
I just can't wait to hear how much she gets. If it works for her, maybe I should try it...but then again, I wouldn't get the apologies she got, would I?
"My question is, why are Andrew Breitbart and Faux Nooz not taking more heat for lying to enflame racial tensions?"
They did nothing wrong as far as I am concerned...the racial tension is already here. I think its time those of us of the white race should form the NAAWP now. The NAACP does not address problems of the American people - only the Blacks. Maybe its time for us to look after our own.
Andrew Breitbart slandered this woman and turned her life upside down... How is that doing nothing to her? She was nothing but a convenient pawn in his quest to bring down the Administration and anyone else he disagrees with, truth be damned.
I hope she sues the pants off him!
I hope she tries, the video speaks for itself and any suit like that would be thrown out.
I think Fox (O'Rielly any way) learned a valuable lesson. He admitted he was wrong last night and it was his fault they didn't research or see entire video. I think this was great for the news media overall, because I believe (hope) in the future news media will be more careful and do more research before airing or commenting on what others post/say etc...
BTW did you know the NAACP was originally founded by whites?
You wrote:
"The NAACP does not address problems of the American people" -
So now the descendants of victims of slavery in America aren't Americans??? I think you need a history lesson.
I think to some, that the NAACP (even the name) sets back true equality many years.
Your problems HAVE been address throughout history in the USA...there is no need to form a NAAWP. We are being played and played Royally. Americans are being pitted one race against another. Stop a minute and think exactly when this much "discussion" of race was front and center in America? Ask yourself, why now? All of this is orchestrated and deliberate attempt by those who have much to gain by accomplishing a racial divide amongst us. We are too smart to let this happen again. We have come a long way in the last 40 years, there was a light at the end of tunnel, but some people want to drag us back into that tunnel. If they succeed, God knows how long it'll take just to get back to the point where all this BS started. I hope we're all better than that.
Yeah, the UNEDITED video will speak for itself and will make her case and she will WIN.
Let's turn the tables a bit Airy-Zona boi.
Hitler was fantastic for Germany because he was the one who spurred the development of the AutoBahns.
Whatever else anyone says about him is just a bunch of German haters, aren't they. After all, they had to take time and effort to read their history to find out that he (allegedly) caused the extermination of an estimated 11 million people in the death camps; (allegedly) caused the direct or indirect deaths of tens of millions of others (including an estimated 14% of the Soviet Union's population); the one thousand day siege of Leningrad (but if the 'Ruskies' had just surrendered, they would not have been in danger, would they?); etc.
Even YOU, though, know that Hitler was not good for Germany. But if you listen to just part of the FACTS, that is what you might think, especially if the [so-called] FACTS are being peddled by a Nazi sympathizer.
Breitbart can be compared with that Nazi sympathizer, as he only tells a small part of the story, then tries to make you believe it is the entirety of the story. But, just like the Nazi sympathizer, all it takes is a small amount of time and effort to find out that what Breitbart is selling is nothing but hog swill in a pretty package, maybe even with a bit of lipstick on it.
I think its time those of us of the white race should form the NAAWP now.
AZ Valley Guy....
Good luck with that buddy! Let us know how it turns out.
She should do what she deems best. Go back, don't go back, or file a wrongful dismissal claim. Don't know-or particularly care-if she is still a racist. Know she is a typical lib, blaming FOX for the Regime throwing her under the bus. Aren't these the same people who say FOX isn't a news channel, that it isn't relavant, and they they don't pay heed to it? Well, here's what we do know. Obama & Co. are racists. And this woman should thank her lucky stars that she isn't a white woman who told that kind of story about black folks. The lib media and the race baiters would never let her live it down and she would be thru in gov't service.
The story told about dead Robert Byrd is that he was a member of the KKK, he apologized, and went on to be a great American senatorr...why can't this woman have the same redemptive quality...oh ...that is reserved for racist white men only?

You were making statements right in line with the Tea Party movement to get rid of the trash in November right up until that last statement. You had to pull the race card, didn't ya?

Post Script to Post #6.4 -
Sorry for the double post I am typing fast and in a hurry....Sorry for that
Joe, You are an idiot! -Neither the blogger or the Faux News people tried to verify anything-as honorable news people asked last night-"where was the editing?
The blogger didn't have enough to write an article on-it was like the GIANT attack of the Enquirer, the Globe, The Examiner and the London Observer all at once- with no true substantiation.
Freedom of speech does have a responsibiity attached: to use it truthfully. All of us who blog and share opinions on sites like this one need to remember that. Too much has already been harmed irrevocably by all the lies and half-lies in play on almost any subject you can think of.
I thought the main focus of the whole thing, was how the NAACP crowd reacted to the racist attitude she relayed early in her story. The laughter, and all. That seems to have been overlooked in the rush to throw her under the bus.
Turn down the job. Sue the Government should not be to hard to find a lawyer. Write a book about the incident.
LOL she doesn't HAVE to find a lawyer. There are 50 vultures waiting to pounce.
Oh, I'm sure she WILL write a book. She'll have plenty of money and plenty of time to do just that, now that she'll get restitution for all of this.
AMEN Joe!
I'm not a racist, but I do support the Constitutional right of those who want to be one. And although racism sucks, it is perfectly legal as long as you aren't in the public sector-as she was-or are taking $ from it. The problem with white racists is they are a'holes. But the bigger problem with black racists and their liberal white accomplices is they're hypocrites. They constantly inflame tensions by making false accusations against others, while making themselves rich in the process. And most sadly, now we have one in the WH.
Obama is a white guy who is half-black...or did his mother and her family not raise him? Ah ha, got ya...I now remember...the one drop rule of you white people...that must still apply...cause you all seem to forget...Obbama has a white mama!!!!!!!!!
Joe, she (Mrs. Sherrod) WAS NOT in the public sector at the time. Watch the ENTIRE video and stop spewing lies. And under our constitution all men are created equal, and have the right to the pursuit of happiness, life and liberty. No one has the 'right' to deny ANYONE else these rights whether private sector or not.
You are expressing the conservative/Anarcho capitalist perspective espoused by Mathias Storme. That is a perspective, an opinion, nothing more. It is not the law, and there is certainly no agreement with this perspective among responsible US Constitutional scholars, nor is it supported by more than 200 years of State and Federal statutes and case law, statutes which have demonstrated a steady trend towards seeking to reduce discrimination and court decisions that support the statutes.
You are mistaken in believing that discrimination is illegal in one setting or place of employment but legal in another. There is not one set of laws for the public sector and another set of laws for the private sector. The Federal laws prohibiting discrimination in employment are not suspended in the private sector.
You and Storme confuse personal beliefs and the free expression of those personal beliefs with actions that go beyond expressing beliefs. In fact, there is no indication anywhere in the language of the Constitution that an individual has the right to practice discrimination. An individual and even groups have the right to believe whatever they want, and to express those beliefs. They do not have the right to exercise those beliefs in the work place. Period.
I don't confuse slander with the truth. Breitbart knew he was misrepresenting the facts. FOX is supposed to be a news channel - but they just went ahead and ranted about reverse racism until they reversed course (did y'all see Hannity's great comment?).
I believe there is some sort of responsibility for misrepresenting facts in the news. Maybe a lawsuit for FOX and Breitbart would remind FOX that they should care more about facts than talking points....
Even at the stage where most of you are calling her guilty, she did do exactly what she was employed to do-she found the couple a lawyer. When they called her back a month later to say that did not work out, she called all over hell's half acre to find another one-unsuccessfully.
Then, in desperation, she called an attorney who was a friend in a town quite far from where she & the couple were in her office. She put them in the car the next AM and personally drove them there- and the rest is history--BECAUSE that couple came out of nowhere to her defense.
I shudder to think where we would be today had those older people have passed away. I worked with the public all my working life-There were many days that I told myself I should only do the barest minimum-MANY MANY days-but I always went above and beyond.
For one thing, that made me feel like I did right. For another, it made even the worst of patients feel better. And I felt like that a lot-with whites, yellows, blacks, Arabs-anybody-but I pulled up the bootstraps and got on with it.
Approximately 50 years later, I can say that I am a better me for that effort.
She was treated wrong and those responsible have apologized. She should take the job not as a matter of revenge for the poor treatment but as an opportunity to make a difference and to show those idiots in power that rushing to judgment isn't leadership and it isn't management. The job she has been offered is a promotion and its a chance to work on anti-discrimination from the perspective of someone who has experienced it from both sides on a personal level. Take the job lady, work hard at it and make a difference.
If I run into a movie theatre and yell 'FIRE', when I no there is none, and you trample an 80 year old woman in your attempt to escape. Did you wrong the 80 year old woman, and I did nothing wrong - or am I to blame. Yes the administration REACTED to a firestorm being brewed INTENTIONALLY by 'Brietbarf' and Fox 'news'. But it is beyond me how both and sit there and act like this is all the administrations doing. Pathetic. And sad for our country, that giving the facts in the light of day, so many chose to stay in darkness.

"Poor treatment? Evidently you did not watch the video."
Which video? The mangled and edited snippet put out as racist propaganda by Brietbart and Faux News, or the entire video?
I saw the video, she convicted herself with her own mouth. Â Just because she is black does not excuse her behavior. Â I am getting really tired of hearing crap like that.
Sorry Russell. That just won't fly. Her speech was 43 minutes....not 15 seconds. You need to listen to the whole speech to get the full context.

"I do not like being called Whitie by no one!"
So if two or more people call you Whitie, it's OK? After all, two is more more than one.
Fox News lies and they should be call out. This is a Black and White issue and I myself as a person of color feels that people should try to put themself in the situation before they act. The President should have a meeting with Ms. Shirley Sherrod and them should have a discussion about race and the reason for the situation that happen. The Fox News network should be call out for causing all of this to be in the news so hard and strong. It is really a shame on all of us that the race card is being throw around in this worlds time frame.
CNN let this cat out of the bag! Then the Obama administration over reacted!
If you paid attention to Fox News you would know that last night O'Reilly apologized for not getting the story entirely correct the first time. They don't lie, which is why they beat all the other lib shows combined. The last thing Ms. Sherrod should do is go to the WH and let herself be 'used.' Obama is a documented liar, an apparent racist-or just a bigger manchurian dumbarse than could seem possible-and a race baiter himself. And before you even think about calling my remarks racist, remember he is half white.
Why the hell does the President have to get involved with this? He doesn't run the USDA. Because he's "a person of color" also? So any indecent involving a "person of color" has to be passed by Daddy? Doesn't he have his own responsibilities, like the economy, gulf disaster and wars without having to get involved with chicken @!$%# media screw ups?
"He doesn't run the USDA."
*facepalm.jpg
yes, gunny, yes he does. he also runs the US Forest Service, the DEA, the ATF and many other federal agencies.
amzzing thrtrue that you are upset with the "whites" and see no evil by the "persons of color" and their racism. Her color is not the issue, the issue is was she wrongly terminated. The racism the "whites" have to endure for the alleged actions of the whites over a 100 years ago , at the hands of the "persons of color" is also wrong. I am sick of being told I "owe" the person of color because I am white. None of my ancestors had a damn thing to do with slavery, and why don't you look into who sold whom into slavery. Get over it, slavery ended in 1865. No one on earth today was alive when slavery was in force, and they "debt" (if any) was owed to the slave, not a freeloading non slave .
I think she has gotten treated more then fair.
1. She was asked to resign, she did and it was unfair in her words. Even her own words ( I didn't help him all I could because he looked down on me and I could tell he was looking down on me! Quote from NAACP Video! Then I turned him to his kind!(Quote) His kind???= Later the farmer came back to her and she then did her job because his kind wasn't helping.. she should have file a grievance right then!
2. She states she did nothing wrong, That's not her! First part of video starts with (The young people of today don't want to hear work on a farm") Racist- statement, refering to slavery. At the NAACP meeting and they did laugh! Fact On NAACP Video...
3. She has been given all apologies she wanted and a New Job Offer! With her old one still waiting for her...
4. More news coverage then should have been.
5. Now she wants to talk to the President per her talk show for today!
6. Guess who just called to chat as she requested. Yes he did.
Enough!

"[Faux News] don't lie."
No, not always. They just do a lot of telling the tiniest bit of the truth they can to make it more difficult for people to sue them.
And they definitely don't do any investigation of what they're reporting, or if they do, it is the tiniest bit that they can to make it appear they did an investigation.
Appearances is all that Faux News worries about. Not facts, just appearance.
The older generation made this country.Christian's most of them. Things were not always good put much better then today. No one will ever stop how people feel about race. Your a American or not. And i don't mean African American. Just American. If youe African American go there that's your home. If your a American in heart this is your home. same for the rest that come to this country.
Older people did live and work in America, and America is what it is TODAY because of them ... good or bad. The ones who think we need to "get our country back", did they take a really long vacation, or just ignore America because they were too busy making money or starting wars for the last 20 years?
We are what they brought us to. Now some of them think the only message is, we got ours, now give me yours, you owe us big-time for this mess we created for you. The victim-hood of many older Americans is sad. Maybe they are just brave enough to finally show their separateness from the rest of humanity because they are afraid to die, and no one cares. They have refused to evolve, admit they are part of humanity, and live in peace.
THE POLL IS UNFAIR it is only for Sherrod supporters point of view.
All the poll choices are slanted in favor of Sherrod. She admits to being a racisst and her decision not to help the white farmer documents it.
She is a racist let her go find a real job
What find astounding is that there are people here who call her racist when if they bothered to actually listen to her comments in context they would learn that she determined that it is not about race, it is about poverty. I really wish some of these angry white men would get an ambien, get some lithium. Just relax and get ovet it, you have to share now....
From her remarks/and actions, it is obvious that she was racist 24 years ago. Thankfully, she evolved from that position. Way to play that "angry white men" card, as if there are no women, blacks, or people of other ethnicities who see the real villians here are the Administration which rushed to fire her.
Take her story and try to learn from it. If she was racist, she recognized it and has tried to address the issue. Not too many others on this board can say the same. Tolerance is a learned ability. It comes from exposure to life and all it's different forms.
Long ago, I was taught that almost everyone has some racism buried within them. Honest people, though, recognize that racism and try to overcome it - some much better than others.
On the other hand, dishonest people, even if they recognize their inherent racism, make no effort to overcome it, or in fact, try to enhance it. They usually are the ones who are too lazy to try to discern the actual truth.
There are many posting here today that fit the second definition. I pity the children and young associates of those who are so lazy.
I think she should take the new position. She would be in a position to monitor and change the atmosphere at the USDA in respect to the poor and under served. Even though she was wronged, this has open up a great oppertunity for a greater and higher cause. Who better to champion the cause than someone who has been wronged and vindicated by the grace of god in the eyes of the american people in 48 hours. Sometimes god will force us into greatness.
More proof that Fox News is in fact the Comedy Channel.
More proof you aren't paying attention Kareem. As ref above by Chas-11.1-CNN broke this, and that's where the WH got wind of it from. By the time Fox was on it she was already sacked. Her then blaming Fox for the firing was pathetic.
When she sues FOX, you will then see the error of your thoughts.
This is by the way not the issue that has made FOX a comedy station. They've had that award for quite some time.
And just like an insane person, FOX after creating this crisis by only broadcasting PART of her speech which was anything BUT racist, is now running around blaming everyone else. The only thing anyone did wrong was to believe this trash in the first place.
Now get back to Beck, Rush, Palin, OReilly, Bachman, Paul, GingLMAOrich and the rest of your shining stars..............bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Fox News is anything BUT a comedy station. Rupert and Fox News has an agenda and it's not one that has the good of America in mind. I am getting sick and tired of people saying EXACTLY what they mean and when they are called out, they apologize. That's BS! They said what they wanted to get out there PERIOD. Rush Limbaugh, Shawn Hannity, Glen Beck, Michelle Bachmann AND Sarah Palin want America is go back to the America of 40-50-60 years ago. Anyone who denies that that's not their game plan is wrong OR this agenda is exactly what they themselves want. Make no mistake, this is what some people want. They want the races tearing at each other throats. And Fox New, Rupert, Rush, etal are fighting tooth and nail to do this.
Well put Kareem!
Wouldn't a defamation-of-character suit be fun to watch? But I think the suit would be aimed at Breitbart, not Faux News.
And the Obama Administration went with fox, ABC, NBC and so did the NAACP! Wow, yes they should be sued too!
1. The comments were made and taken in the context intended
2. If this were a white woman there would have been no offer to come back to the job
3. And certainly no meeting with the Prez
Equality = Retribution?
Equal is a Equal does....
She should take the job, sue Fox, and then quit. It amazes me that people think she's some kind of racist, probably because they're too ignorant to actually understand what happened, and that Fox still does not admit any responsibililty for this whole mess. Yes, they were too quick to fire her, but if Fox actually would've done their due diligence, this would've never happened.
Dee, see the light. She painted herself as a racist. As I posted in #11.2, O'Reilly apologized for his lack of total context last night. As Chas posted in #11.1, CNN broke this. As I posted in #15.1, she was canned before Fox was even on it. Hopefully she is not now a racist, as she obviously was in the past. But her blaming this on Fox makes us wonder. If Fox says the sky will fall today, is the POTUS going to start walking around with an umbrella? Put the blame where it belongs-the administration-and quit scapegoating those that according to Obama are "tangential."
Joe - you need to get your head out of the sand. The tapes PROVE that even though certain thoughts came to her, she ultimately did not act on them and did the right thing - 24 years ago. Did you see the interview with the actual farmers? Did you? They consider her a lifelong friend and admitted they would've lost their farm, had it not been for her. And for Fox, are you admitting you shouldn't believe anything they say? They're SUPPOSED to be a news channel, right? Don't they have an obligation to check the facts before putting anything out there? Get real. They've put lie after lie out there, including Beck, Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity, etc., etc. You're too stupid to admit it.
so, Dee. You must follow Fox News,Beck Limbaugh, ect, ect?
You seem to know them very well, for a person that hates them that much.
Joe-738652, so what you're saying is that if anyone of us had unpure thoughts on race and spoke about how we overcame them, then we should be labeled a racist for life.
Come on. You can't believe that?
You say the blame belongs on the administration? I disagree. The blogger constructed the lie. Fox spread the lie. The administration believed the lie. All must share the blame, but the blogger is the one clearly acting in bad faith.
As for Sherrod being a racist 24 years ago, she was working for a private non-profit set up specifically to help poor Black farmers. When a white farmer came to her for help, she was taken aback and her first impulse was to put him in touch with "his own people." She then realized that the real issue was poverty, not race, and it broadened her perspective. If learning to see beyond race is racism, then the word has lost its meaning.
Just have to chuckle at Russell's incorrect characterization of 1984 as "a very anti-Socialist book." Why do conservatives consistently think that? Orwell WAS a socialist. Really. Check any source. He said this:
"The Spanish War and other events in 1936–37, turned the scale. Thereafter I knew where I stood. Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written directly or indirectly against totalitarianism and for Democratic Socialism as I understand it."
He was writing during the height of RIGHTwing fascism. We can agree, I think, that any economic system can be subject to authoritarianism, which was his main focus.
But American conservatives that think that phrases like "Big Brother" and "some pigs are more equal than others" is some kind of rejection of the collective sharing of resources, or as Republicans call it, "SOCIALISM!!!" is simply dead wrong.
Joe?
How did CNN break this when Breitbart gave the snippet of the speech to Faux News, and Faux News posted the snippet of the speech on it's web site? Maybe CNN was the first to actually say something on-air (got any proof of that, Charles?), but if so, they 'stole the thunder' from Faux News when they started to report ahead (if that, in FACT, is true) Faux News. Stealing the thunder, though does NOT mean that CNN was first.
Then again, I've found that logic escapes most TEA BAGGERs.
Get over it and gett back to work- If you are looking for money Get back to work. Sue the idiots that put the video on the tube and made you look like a fool.
Get back to work & get over it!
