Now we'll see whether these State actions will be found constitutional or not. I'm all for people getting a choice. Partisanship aside, it would be good if everyone had health care. We all pay out the nose for those that use the emergency room for routine care.
Translation for the parasites- If you want insurance, buy your own!!!! If you don't want it, don't buy. No way the courts will uphold this socialization takeover mandate. Either way, it will be defunded and become as inept and impotent as the corrupt marxist regime that deceived and cheated the majority to ram it through.
I think Virginia will be launching the next torpedo into the 'Health Care' monstrosity. You'll see other states popping up too. This will become quite interesting as the matter begins to boil.
I guess that folks just do not like their government slamming them with a giant spending bill and mish-mash of a plan that most taxpayers did not want in the first place.
"New Political Party. Not Democrat, Not Republican, Not Independent. It's called the "PISSED OFF PARTY" (or POP). This party is dedicated to vote every incumbent out of office in the next elections.
We need to send a message to all politicians, that we're tired of their B.S. If the country votes out all the incumbents, the new incoming politicians will get the message. It's pretty simple. Nobody needs to change parties and lets face it, there's plenty of blame to spread around. A few good politicians will lose their job but they probably have better retirement and insurance then 95% of the American public. You've had to struggle for the last 5 years. Some of you have lost your job and may be working in some other sector just to feed your family. I guarantee you, none of them will suffer like this country has.
Democrats, Republicans, EVERYONE!! To All 535 voting members of the Legislature; it is now official you are ALL corrupt morons:
The U.S. Post Service was established in 1775. You have had 234 years to get it right and it is broke.
Social Security was established in 1935. You have had 74 years to get it right and it is broke.
Fannie Mae was established in 1938. You have had 71 years to get it right and it is broke.
War on Poverty started in 1964. You have had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to "the poor" and they only want more.
Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You have had 44 years to get it right and they are broke.
Freddie Mac was established in 1970. You have had 39 years to get it right and it is broke.
The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before. You had 32 years to get it right and it is an abysmal failure.
You have FAILED in every "government service" you have shoved down our throats while overspending our tax dollars. AND YOU WANT AMERICANS TO BELIEVE YOU CAN BE TRUSTED WITH A GOVERNMENT-RUN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM? IT'S NOT ABOUT THE NEED FOR GOOD HEALTH CARE, IT'S ABOUT TRUSTING THE GOVERNMENT TO RUN IT.
Folks, keep this circulating. It is very well stated. Maybe it will end up in the e-mails of some of our "duly elected' and their staff (they never read anything) will clue them in on how Americans feel. "

In the United States, about 40 years from now, all posts on this site will look like yours because the then majority hispanic population will force their language onto the country...probably thru a president named something like Baracco Obamanos.
Declaration of Non-Healthcare Status for Individual and/or Dependents:
I the undersigned, Resident of State of Missouri, City of Jefferson City, in declining to purchase mandatory health insurance for myself or my dependents or to have purchased on my behalf health insurance for myself and my dependents by any federal, state, city, municipality, charity or employer.
Therefore I accept financial responsibility all for a healthcare cost to treatment by any doctor, nurse, emergency personnel, at any doctor’s office, clinic, care center, rehabilitation center or hospital. I will not present myself for any treatment where I have not prearranged for payment or, nor will a member of my family do so on my half. For the purposes of the law I shall be treated as a self-pay patient, and will present amble evidence of credit, bank balances, property, and holdings showing my ability to pay all foreseeable costs without limit, which may provide for health care.
I will not incur any costs to federal, state, city, municipality, charity or employer arising from Emergency room treatment, and or the event of my death. The Emergency room, hospital, charity not make any loss charge on my account to offset business losses, exclusions or reduce taxes from losses I caused of have been seen to have cause. These charges shall not be passed on directly or indirectly to any government agency federal, state, city, municipality, charity or employer.
I these provisions prove onerous to hospital care personnel; I may be administered palliative care from a fund I have set aside to provide my self-paid insurance.
Signed ____________________— Resident of State of Missouri, City of Jefferson City, August 4, 2010
Awesome, totally agree. I still can't figure out why Conservatives want to pay extra to support those who don't buy insurance. I guess just because it was presented by Obama, the most Conservative Democrat in a generation. This could be an ingenious plot by the left to confuse Conservatives so much that they break ranks.
Agree...awesome! Now print up a few million and distribute them to all of the people who are in this country illegally and lets see if the health care costs go down.
Come on people, do your homework. It was Mitt Romney who fought to put this clause in the Healthcare Bill. It was a compromise during the negotiations between Dems and GOP. Mitt Romney has already put it in his state constitution when he was just the governor.
Obama did not come up with this deal that says we have to have insurance or face a penalty, it was Mitt Romney, the Rupublican, Morman, 2012 hopeful.
Obama the MOST CONSERVATIVE democratic president in a generation? You must be smoking some of that legal medical mary-jane!
Healthcare is a priveledge - not a right - like owning a house, buying food, driving a car. You want, you earn enough money to buy it for yourself - the government has no right to tell you you have to buy it BUT I agree that you also have no right to expect free care/discounted care if you choose not to provide for yourself.
That sounds all nice a tidy and I appreciate your desire to maintain what you see as your independence, but if the desire is to create better and more affodrable health care for all, how does this declaration help those (legal citizens) who cannot afford to sign this? It seems to me this is shortsighted and you cannot have it both ways. If you like the way health care was set up before this debate, then so be it and shout it out loud! but if you did not, then please provide a proposal that makes sense for all and that satisfies the goal of the health care policy. If you cannot, then there is no reason to comment.
You gonna provide all that info if you are having a heart attack and need to be resucitated?
Let's see, paramedics, check the bank statement before any treatment can begin or even before the ambulance rolls.... Maybe you could fax your info to the 911 operator????
Because if you have 50,000 in net worth but your treatment will cost 400,000, I WILL BE PAYING YOUR MEDICAL BILLS!
Dean, speak for yourself. McCaskill sucks! She promised she would not vote for the Health Care Bill if it added to the deficit and would represent her consituents. Guess what, she still voted for hit and it's been shown it will add to the deficit. Looks like she didn't accurately represent her constituents as 71% of Missouri does not want this law. All the Dems claim the Obama was elected with a clear landslide majority of 54% and he had a mandate to change this country. What do you call it when 71% of voters in the state reject his idea of change for this country? McCaskill is on the wrong side of this issue according to Missouri voters. She will be gone next time she's up for re-election.
STLMike, the attached link from the CBO states that the health care bill will result in a deficit reduction to the tune of 143 billion. You can't trust the CBO's predictions when they support your views and ignore it when it doesn't.
I also hope you're not in favor of extending the bush tax cuts (not deficit neutral). And I hope you don't support either of the two wars (not deficit neutral).
I'm in favor of putting people before profits. If you're against it, if you or a member of your family should be without health insurance, I hope they don't attempt to receive treatment. If they can pay for it out of pocket, they would be allowed to receive treatment. If you're on Medicare, you're already on a government-run insurance plan, so you should probably try to go out into the free market to obtain health care. You may have paid into the system, but one weekend in a hospital can easily reach into the tens of thousands of dollars. I hope that's how much you paid in, otherwise you're using socialist medicine.
It's not a savings when you have to PAY over a trillion to get that savings. It's like you go to the store to buy milk and you come back with a big screen TV because it was on 'sale'. If you don't have the money to pay for it, how can you justify the expense?
Not only that, but they counted the Medicare 'savings' twice. When you add the doctor fix as well, the numbers become even worse.
All the health care debacle does is raise costs for taxpaying Americans, either with higher premiums or from higher taxes - probably both. It does absolutely nothing to address the real issues driving health care costs.
Hey Kelli-2142582, no state requires car insuarce for everyone, only if you want the privilage to drive a car/truck. You can take the bus or bum a ride. This whole "car insurace is mandatory" is complete garbage
if you don't drive you wouldn't need car insurance That was created to protect the other drivers if you had an accident. I don't have to have can insurance because I don't drive. I have insurance that I buy to protect me if I need it. I should not have to buy more than I think I need just because someone else needs it. If you took all the illegal aliens out and look at what they do to our Hospitals then the plans would be funded. medicaid is there for CITIZENS of this country to be used by them if they need it however there are millions getting it that are not CITIZENS.take the 12 million people out of the equation and there would be money for those that need it.
Joe, the difference is that if you don't own a car, you know you're not going to get into an auto accident while driving. Can you say with 100% certainty that you're not going to get sick? Do you know that you're never going to get injured or need medical attention? If people could buy in at their leisure, they'd only purchase it when they need it. If you're healthy, you don't need much health care.
And whether you like it or not, if you have insurance now, you're paying for illegals and other uninsured people. Might as well let them buy into the system to spead the costs to everyone.
As Mr. Obama said during the health insurance fiasco... "well, then that's what elections are for". And he couldn't be more right... this is the first of many elections that will be a referendum on government control over our freedoms. Wonder how all of those bonehead college students feel about being forced by the government to pay for something they don't want. Hope and change baby... right in your face!
"Wonder how all of those bonehead college students feel about being forced by the government to pay for something they don't want" - to which war (Iraq/Afghanistan) are you referring?
How do you feel about paying for all those uninsured people that go to the emergncy room for a cough? You do realize you're paying for that don't you? Or are you one of them?
I guess that the Most people support Obamacare lie didnt stand up in this state.. 70 percent oppose what he tried to cram down their throats in this state. As i believe that as we get deeper into this election cycle more states will do the exact same thing.. Most people dont agree with this part of the law. Forcing people to buy something they dont want.
I guess that the Most people support Obamacare lie didnt stand up in this state
Exactly. Don't know if this will ever stand up in court, but it served its purpose to highlight again that Obama and the Dems jammed this down our throats. No matter how many times the liberals like to tell their lies that the healthcare bill was supported by the voters. Lies.
Okay, you can't pick and choose, first off the IRS said they won't enforce that portion, so if they don't want to buy insurance, they don't get the pre-existing condition exhemption and their kids don't get to stay on their insurance after 24 or 18 if they don't go to college. too many people, which will include myself when I reach the point of no longer being able to pay for my COBRA us ER's as their doctors. And on unemployment, the hospital has to eat the costs, even if you have a job, if it is low paying, the hospital eats most of the costs and passes on in higher cost for the insured.
go get another job to help pay for that insurance. if you dont want to that is a Choice you are making, just like someone elses choice to not buy insurance
If you use insurance are your paradigm to pay for healtcare AND you want to cover eveyone - then you have to mandate the purchase of insurance. Otherwise healthy people will opt-out and only sick people will be in the insurance pool. This in fact describes the current situation. Too many people are not paying into the insurance pool. That's why lab tests are so expensive (as an example). A complete blood count cost about $1.00 to perform but hospitals charge $200.00 to the insured to cover the CBC's done on people without health care. I repeat, if we want healthcare then everyone must be in the insurance pool.
Way to go Missouri, 71% against! I guess the Show me state showed Obambie and clown company what the real deal is! No to your stinking Redistribute the Wealth Health Care Plan. It's a sign of things to come. I cant wait to vote against this outrageous give something to the poor people/take from everyone else plan the Democrats devised themselves, at the end of August here in Florida. I'd bet it's gonna be a stomping, all the Independants and Republicans I know are against this forced down our throats Socialist one party plan. We might have to wait till Obambie is out in 2012 to repeal it Nationwide but so what the gears are turning, and the Democrats who voted for it will lose as well. Come November, it's over, you've lost the Independants and some Democrats too. Your Tree Hugging Way too Far Left Californication Ship of Fools/Representatives are gonna be looking for a job!
I suggest you do what you said, move to a fascist country. After all, this is the land of the free capitalists! Not land of we dictate what you have to buy and provide to poor people! You obviously didn't know that when you posted your stupid response. "You don't deserve to live in the great united states" And to you I say F*** You, First off, use Caps when using "United States" in a sentence, it belittles our country when you use lower case you moron. Second, I do deserve to live in this country, my ancestors came to New England not long after the Mayflower landed Powder Puff, they helped create this free society we call the USA! Third, I was born here, raised here and pay taxes here, so since I disagree with you, do you think you have more reason to live here than I do?... You sound like you might be an Illegal Alien wanting a free pass from Obambie, are you? Leave Now!
Earle - You have got to be joking...please reads the health care reform bill before making such a ridiculus analysis....There are not enough letters in the alphabet to explain away the idealogical views you pocess....
Read my Lips, I mean words... I was NOT JOKING and you have no rebuttal worthy of taking my time to read. I bet you haven't read it either, and if you did you obviously didn't understand what it means or just want the handout. I do know it's unconstitutional to force a person to buy a product, in this case Health Care... 71% of the people who voted in Missouri AGREE with me and many other American Citizens, are you a sore Missouri Democrat voter? You got me wondering... At least in your response you were able to spell my name correctly, need I say more? Good Day to you
brilliant idea. we can get rid of the individual mandate but keep the rest of the legislation. that way when i get sick i can just sign up health insurance and they can't deny me coverage. this is even better than single payer because then i don't have to pay anything at all!
i hope this actually happens in those states so that insurance companies stop doing business there and we can just leave those people to pay their way through cancer treatment.
health care is a necessity, not a luxury. nobody should be able to make a profit from things i need.
Go EARN the money to pay for the insurance instead of expecting other people to provide for you. The problem with your type of thinking is you think everyone OWEs you just because you live in this country, this is what is wrong with the Democrats/liberals they live in a world of what they think they are owed by everyone else just because they are breathing..
oh and by the way, some 15 years ago, the obama plan was...surprise surprise, very similar to what republicans wanted! moving the goalpost politics much?
i have insurance. and i dont mind paying taxes so that other people do too. this has nothing to do with what country i live in. the principle of living in a society is that you are given the assurance that you will be taken care of in case you are unable to, but that you must also take care of others in case you have more than what you need to take care of yourself. we give up some freedoms in exchange for some rights.
this is called the social contract. look it up. it was conceived by thomas hobbes and john locke and they heavily influenced the founding fathers. does life liberty and property sound familiar to you?
You seem to continue to try and change the subject. its the people of this state like MOST people dont like the way this Law is written. Period, you can point fingers all you want but it still doesn't change the FACT most people dont want this law. 70 percent of them in this state alone. which is infact a reflection of what most states believe. What part of that dont you understand?
Yes, most people would consider health insurance a necessity, but where exactly does it fall on the list of what people consider "necessities"?
People claim they can't afford health insurance, however they have cell phones, cable televisions, flat screen TV's, newer model vehicles, smoke, drink, go to casinos, etc.
Look over that list and tell me where the cost of health insurance SHOULD fall. Then tell me where it ACTUALLY falls with a lot of people who do not have insurance.
well, i DO mind paying taxes so people who don't have insurance can have it. i don't expect you or anyone else to take care of me. that is the fundamental difference between conservatives and liberals. you want life to have a safety net. stop trying to make me spend money on things i don't want to spend it on - like paying other people's way thru life. your arguement of 'we give up freedoms in exchange for rights' makes no sense.
it makes perfect sense. in nature we have all freedoms. so for example, i have the freedom to steal and kill and do whatever i want. people realize that this is not a very good idea so we contract into a society by accepting to give up some of those freedoms in exchange for the right to not being killed or robbed. its a simple concept.
steve - most people not liking it pretty much means nothing. if most people decided murder is okay would you cite that as evidence that murder is not wrong?
just my thoughts - necessity is something you cannot live without. you cannot live without being healthy. and thanks for agreeing with me that health is indeed a necessity.
Why oh why should we pay insurance executives multimillion dollar bonuses while people are dieing and suffering from lack of medical care that is affordable...nor affordable coverage.
people are sick of non medically trained @!$%#s making billions off the suffering of others, while those with medical training are NOT ALLOWED to provide services, due to dictates of some other @!$%#s on the hospitals board of directors (who are MBA's, not a Dr's) who want new private jets, mansions...
Medicine is not ran by the Dr's and their aids, it is ran by greedy opportunist with nothing but their own interest in mind...when will people stop putting up with this crap?????
Healthcare has never been nor will it be a RIGHT. Just because you work at an $8.00 an hour job does not give you the right to force me (taxpayers) to pay for your healthcare, get a different job, another job, or take care of your health and don't get sick..The insurance companies shoud take pre-existing conditions with the understanding that the individual MUST pay a higher price..I am not responsible for your healthcare and my rates should not go up just becasue you get sick,,The government does have programs for the less fortunate and would actually be able to cover those who need healthcare most;;;if they stopped :bailing out unions, automakers, insurance companies, foreign countries, USA states (who do have budgets that they are supposed to follow), b.s. stimulpork programs..also the healthcare law exempts Congress ,,what are we now nation of classes? My healthcare program is my own damn business, and I am in good health and have employer supplied health benefits ,,I paid my dues by working hard and finding a company that wanted my skills and had the benefits that I deserved for my skills,,,I would never buy government ordered health insurance and a lot of people will not do it either,,this law will be ruled unconstitutional, and obama will be just another diasppointing Chicago political hack,,,
Fredom of choice for each state. This should be handled in the same manner that personal responsibility for the use of seat belts and DUI has been by the states. States not in compliance with the passage of acceptable regulations or laws do not receive federal highway funds. Federal funds used for healthcare programs should not be distributed to states that have not enacted acceptable personal responsibility requlations or laws. The citizens of each state could then decide if they wish to feed at the federal money trough.
Democrats know this is unconstitutional! Why should I be taxed (fined) for not purchasing healthcare? What if I pay in cash when I go to the doctor or ER? Why should I have to pay extra? No ONE should be fined for not purchasing healthcare just for the mere fact that they are alive! I like how the libs talk about illegal immagration and how we pay for it when they go to the doctor, blah blah blah, well pass some immagration reform and stop changing the subject!
Exactly, that's why when they were passing this thing they kept saying over and over again this isn't a tax. Now its being challenged in Virigina and host of other states and the DOJ is saying it doesn't violate the Consitution because it is a tax. Which way is it? Freakin liars!
All that vote proved is that most of the folks in missouri do not mind paying for someone else's health care . The law should state that if you don't have insurance or a means to pay for the health care service you have the right to sit outside the caregivers place of business and DIE. You morons just do not get it if someone without insurance is treated and they do not pay "WHO DOES" that would be all of the folks who have insurance they must pay more for service . There was finally a way assure all could be covered at reasonable cost and you nitwits listen to Glen Crybaby Beck and Rush The Oxy-Moron Limpballs
Jim, no offense, but you're an idiot. You're just espousing liberal talking points. Even if we treated every person without insurance everyday of their lives, it still would not equal what this monstrosity of a bill is going to cost. Furthermore most people who over utilize services are those on medical assistance because it costs them nothing. Try doing some research my left wing friend and you'll see the light. By the way, please enlighten us on your definition of a reasonable cost.
and how many pages of the health care bill have you personnally read or are you just repeating the same old fecal matter that is drilled into the ditto heads each and every day. I personally watch each network news and try to decide for myself what is right and what is wrong . unlike the people who only listen to and watch the conservative talk shows ,I will not say the right leaning shows for there is very little right with a lot of the mis-information given.
Thanks...all it took for me to oppose that garbled 2500 page health care plan was reading the future cost projections that were originally put forth on Medicare and Medicaid and other such large programs. Those programs' cost multiplied like a pack of rabbits.
It is laughable how these politicians try to put multi-billion dollar cost figures on large government programs...as if they have any real concept of what those costs may be. And if they are very, very wrong on their cost projections, we pay the inflated price and nobody in government gets the blame.
Does anyone on this site have any real confidence in health care reform's cost estimates 10 years down the road ???
Actually Jim I spent years working with those on M.A. so I know first hand what I'm talking about as well as the stats of which I speak. How much first hand knowledge do you have or better yet how much does obama have?
You morons just do not get it if someone without insurance is treated and they do not pay "WHO DOES" that would be all of the folks who have insurance they must pay more for service...
Jim, you just don't get it. Those of us who have insurance realize we pay for others who also have insurance. That is what a risk pool is about. The thing is, we have a choice whether or not to purchase insurance. It is our choice if we want to pay for others. The government is taking away that choice and mandating it. That is the issue here. And now you're calling 71% of Missouri voters idiots that cannot think for themselves because you disagree with them. I doubt that all these voters are conservative and follow the talking points of Rush and Beck. And at that, you couldn't help but fall on the old liberal mantra of insulting those with whom you disagree. There are better ways to ensure that health care is affordable and accesible to everyone. Forcing someone to buy something from another private individual or corporation is not the way to do it and is certainly not a principle on which this country was founded.
Your so right Steve forcing people to purchase something is just wrong. When you tell the effin liberals that the response is well you have to buy car insurance.......Duh no you don't my mother and mother in law have never purchased car insurance. You don't have to drive stupid how many people who live in NY or Boston or Chicago don't drive do to the mass transit system? Glad for Mizzou I wish every State would put this on the ballot so our fine government would really find out how we feel about the healthcare bill. Only ones benefiting from this bill are insurance and drug companies.
I guess just because it was presented by Obama, the most Conservative Democrat in a generation.
That has to be the dumbest post of the year. Congrats!!
He is the most radical liberal/progressive that has ever been in office. He wants his socialist utopia forced onto the American people. He will go down in history as the worst president in US history and someone who tried to kill the US as we know it....
Really? Actually, President Obama is corporatist, middle of the road Democrat who spends more time trying to reach consensus with Republicans than anything. The reality is that he is a disappointment to those of who call ourselves Liberal. Apparently, anything to the left of complete Fascism is what Republicans, conservatives and tea-baggers consider radial these days.
How is denigrating the Republicans every time he turns around trying to reach consensus? His attitude is "it's my way or the highway". That's actually the only thing that is 'old school' about him. That management technique has been thrown out by most successful businesses today because it DOES NOT WORK. I guess it goes to show that he has no real management skills to speak of.
Meanwhile back at the White House Obama has just spent $700 million dollars of taxpayers monies to pay for the new Obama health care advertising campaign trying to sell the unpopular bill to the American people.
Obama's definition of working together " you tell me what you think and I'll listen then I'll tell you what I think and you listen then you agree with me and just like that we're working together."
We are started down the slippery slope. Once the government starts mandating us, as citizens, to do ANYTHING, we cease to be free and independent. And if we don't stop it, it won't end. Next, the government will be mandating us to do other things, each more invasive, until we have no personal freedoms and rights left.
I have never heard so much hateful talk. Is this really how our country has become. I'm willing to bet those who say let them die if they can't pay for health has never been struck down with a health issue without insurance. I haven't either but I've seen the expense charged for the simplist procedures. My question is if this fails where do we go from here. We get into such fights amongst ourselves nothing ever gets solved.
So what's obama's bill do to reduce expenses? You're right something needs to be done, but nothing about this bill reduces costs and that is the root of the problem. Expanding medicaid which is not sustainable is not the answer. It was just obama's attempt at a power grab and making people more dependent on government. He's a liar and a cheat!
this just in for you lemmings, no one is dying in the streets because they don't have insurance. that is the big fear lie your enablers peddled to suck you in. now they have you, but you are the MINORITY!!! you are all pathetic beggars, due in large part to your support of a party that doesn't care about you, just your steady blind votes!!!
Can someone tell me why conservatives never look at the big picture and latch on to a tiny facet of the issue that has a minimal impact on them and over look the entire impact that the issue has on them.
If more people are insured than they are more likely to see a doctor for preventative care which reduces the long term heath care cost for those people. This intern reduces the cost to the insurance company which will eventually reduce insurance premiums. It is scientifically proven that people who see doctors for preventative care cost MUCH less to treat than those who don't. Not to mention free up ERs (which are VERY expensive to run) for those who actually need them and every patient would then pay for at least some of their care instead of forcing hospitals to pass on all of their costs to the rest of us. There may be a small price increase now but the cost will be recouped many times over within most people’s lifetime.
Those who voted for Proposition C where sheep following someone who quite her job, I assume that meant she was unemployed for that year, to campaign for a ballot measure that does absolutely nothing except waste the taxpayer's money to have it put on the ballot. Everyone knows Federal law supersedes State law. Good job wasting a lot of time and money Annette Read!
Just because you have health care does NOT mean you will go to the doctor for preventative.
So, by your logic, telling people that all they have to do to lose weight is eat less food, and we all should do it. Right? It is scientifically proven that if you eat less food, you will lose weight. So, why aren't we all so skinny? It doesn't cost me anything to eat less.
Or, what about smoking? drinking? exercising? sugar? salt? I can go on and on. Just because you know what's right for you does not mean that you will do it. Just because you have health insurance does not mean that you will use it for preventative care.
I would much rather see everyone have some type of catastrophic coverage, and be required to pay out of pocket for doctor's visits - if you don't have regular coverage.
I do not think it is the government's job to tell me what to purchase and what not to purchase. If you want to live in a country that the government tells you what to do, why don't you move to Russia, or China?
people just dont get the fact that 71% of "PRIMARY Voters" voted to block the individual mandate. this was a Mostly REPUBLIC PRIMARY ballot, not much going on for democrats this primary cycle so turnout was low.
you can't look at this as 71% of Missourians... cause i gurantee only about 20% or less of the democratic base turned out.
To put this iniative on a primary ballot just shows how scared they were to put it on even a MID TERM ballot little lone an Presidental Election year. same old rep tricks, sneak it through when nobody is looking.
There we go. The liberals dismissing this as a Republican ploy to confuse the voters and hide it from the mass. What a friggin joke! The biggest part of this primary election was to chose who will run, for each party, for U.S. senate. There was a Republican Primary and Democractic primary held. Can't help if if the liberals didn't come out to vote and voice their opinion as you state. The election results would be just the same in November. I guess you're saying the Democrats don't come out to vote unless its to vote for a black president? In my opinion you're saying that Democrats aren't true citizens that do not take advantage of their rights to vote, something that every citizen, regardless of party affiliation, should be proud to do every election.
Shame on those who voted NO. Since when is health care a right. Soon housing, transportation, food, etc. will be a right. How pathetic those people who would fall for this Ponzi scheme. Wake up, America.
the welfare babies want socialism. they don't want nor have the motivation to support themselves and the reason is because the fake concern of the liberals to pay there way with OTHER PEOPLE'S' MONEY!!!! you don't want to work, no worry, here's another 6 months of handouts.
What simple minded dems do not understand is there are no limits if this law gets instituted. Next they will say that everyone in America must have access to the Internet. So to do that everyone in America will be required subscribe to the Internet to offset the costs for the poor so they can also have Internet service. We'll even be able to buy them a computer with all the revenue generated. You have to pay for yours but theirs will be free. Well not really free cause you'll be paying for theirs too.
Uh,,,, you're a little late. In fact, underpriviledged families do get credits for internet service, and some get cell phone service and a prepaid minute plan from your very own government. Not someday, it is a fact now. I'm guessing somewhere it has already been decided that it is a "right".
Proud to say I voted for Prop C, I don't need or want Obamacare in my life. I'm not going to be bullied by big liberal governments or pay for other people's health bills. I have a hard enough time paying my own bills with this economy much less other people's stupid medical bills. I have worked in the hospital and I see the people that come to the emergency room because of normal life complaints so they get $1,000s of tax payer money anyway for the most ignorant complaints. Half of these people are collecting so much of my money anyway because they refuse to get any jobs at all, they keep thinking they are entiltied to my money. So let me dish out more money because after college I had to accept a job below my pay grade just so I can survive, but here big government take more of my money....
Big government is the worst. Go tea party, stop the big government and the Obama radicals ruining out lives!
do you have insurance? do you not understand how insurance works? when you go to the doctor and you pay $25.00 and insurance pays the rest, do you not understand that the other people in your insurance plan are assisting you pay for that visit?
yes i have Insurance because i work for a living and waited 3 months for my benefits to start. My insurance is good too. Yes I have been to the hospital and yes i know insurance covers some of my bills. The great thing about it is I contribute to my own insurance by paying a portion of my insurance from my own paycheck. Finally yes I know other people contribute to the insurance, that is other hard working people like myself and guess what, I contribute to theirs too. It's a nice system when you contribute to it.
Now correct me if I'm wrong, but the people going into the insurance by the government are NOT contributing very much or anything at all.
Now then Bob call me all the names you want if it makes yourself feel mroe like a man, but you not changing what I believe in just because you wish to sound smart in your comment and call me stupid to make yourself feel big.
Bob... What you don't understand is we had a choice whether to participate and pay for other peoples costs, that also paid and helped cover our costs. Now we don't have a choice to do that but rather, are forced to cover those that chose not to participate in the cost sharing.
I here that there is junk in health care need to wait for a new president an then vote out of the law keep stall that junk health care.
Great job Missouri.

You want, you earn enough money to buy it for yourself - the government has no right to tell you you have to buy it BUT I agree that you also have no right to expect free care/discounted care if you choose not to provide for yourself.
to RichMJones -
That sounds all nice a tidy and I appreciate your desire to maintain what you see as your independence, but if the desire is to create better and more affodrable health care for all, how does this declaration help those (legal citizens) who cannot afford to sign this?
Congratulations to you Missouri!!! We are sooooo proud of you. Your next mission is the rid your state of Sen. Claire McCaskill.
Yep, she is history.
We like Claire, Besides do you expect us to elect a bonehead like Blunt
You can't trust the CBO's predictions when they support your views and ignore it when it doesn't.
http://www.cbo.gov/publications/collections/health.cfm
Losing her as one of the state's polititions is the dumbest thing I've heard.
educated liberal -
It's not a savings when you have to PAY over a trillion to get that savings.
Does Missouri require by law to have car insurance? Does Missouri pay taxes for license plates and tags each year? Did you all fight that as well?
McBob,
How do you feel about paying for all those uninsured people that go to the emergncy room for a cough? You do realize you're paying for that don't you? Or are you one of them?
Feb.2013- we repeal this insurance farce, 10 minutes later the law that requires ER's to provide free insurance.
Then we 'll see healthcare costs go down.
You don't deserve to live in the great united states. Go to some fascist country if that is what you want.
Mr Liam,
I suggest you do what you said, move to a fascist country.
TT Anthony,
Read my Lips, I mean words... Good Day to you
Earle, you must be a constitutional law scholar in order to understand the complexity of both the health care bill and the constitutionality of it.
Just curious, are you on Medicare now?
And "Obambie" is the president of the country that you love so much. Please show the highest office in the country a little respect.
brilliant idea. we can get rid of the individual mandate but keep the rest of the legislation. that way when i get sick i can just sign up health insurance and they can't deny me coverage. this is even better than single payer because then i don't have to pay anything at all!
i hope this actually happens in those states so that insurance companies stop doing business there and we can just leave those people to pay their way through cancer treatment.
health care is a necessity, not a luxury. nobody should be able to make a profit from things i need.
Go EARN the money to pay for the insurance instead of expecting other people to provide for you. The problem with your type of thinking is you think everyone OWEs you just because you live in this country, this is what is wrong with the Democrats/liberals they live in a world of what they think they are owed by everyone else just because they are breathing..
oh and by the way, some 15 years ago, the obama plan was...surprise surprise, very similar to what republicans wanted! moving the goalpost politics much?
http://www.boston.com/news/nation/washington/articles/2010/03/28/health_insurance_mandate_began_as_a_republican_idea/
This is he present Zaruski, We dont live in the past like you do.
So are you saying Obama is really a republican or the democratic party is the new republican party?
steve505729,
i have insurance. and i dont mind paying taxes so that other people do too. this has nothing to do with what country i live in. the principle of living in a society is that you are given the assurance that you will be taken care of in case you are unable to, but that you must also take care of others in case you have more than what you need to take care of yourself. we give up some freedoms in exchange for some rights.
this is called the social contract. look it up. it was conceived by thomas hobbes and john locke and they heavily influenced the founding fathers. does life liberty and property sound familiar to you?
Zaruski,
You seem to continue to try and change the subject. its the people of this state like MOST people dont like the way this Law is written. Period, you can point fingers all you want but it still doesn't change the FACT most people dont want this law. 70 percent of them in this state alone. which is infact a reflection of what most states believe. What part of that dont you understand?
Zaruski,
Yes, most people would consider health insurance a necessity, but where exactly does it fall on the list of what people consider "necessities"?
People claim they can't afford health insurance, however they have cell phones, cable televisions, flat screen TV's, newer model vehicles, smoke, drink, go to casinos, etc.
Look over that list and tell me where the cost of health insurance SHOULD fall. Then tell me where it ACTUALLY falls with a lot of people who do not have insurance.
well, i DO mind paying taxes so people who don't have insurance can have it. i don't expect you or anyone else to take care of me. that is the fundamental difference between conservatives and liberals. you want life to have a safety net. stop trying to make me spend money on things i don't want to spend it on - like paying other people's way thru life. your arguement of 'we give up freedoms in exchange for rights' makes no sense.
ltp
it makes perfect sense. in nature we have all freedoms. so for example, i have the freedom to steal and kill and do whatever i want. people realize that this is not a very good idea so we contract into a society by accepting to give up some of those freedoms in exchange for the right to not being killed or robbed. its a simple concept.
steve - most people not liking it pretty much means nothing. if most people decided murder is okay would you cite that as evidence that murder is not wrong?
just my thoughts - necessity is something you cannot live without. you cannot live without being healthy. and thanks for agreeing with me that health is indeed a necessity.
Democrats know this is unconstitutional!
Paul...
So true James!!!
That has to be the dumbest post of the year. Congrats!!
He is the most radical liberal/progressive that has ever been in office. He wants his socialist utopia forced onto the American people. He will go down in history as the worst president in US history and someone who tried to kill the US as we know it....
Read his books he actively sought out socialist to study you don't do that unless you truly believe in it.
Really? Actually, President Obama is corporatist, middle of the road Democrat who spends more time trying to reach consensus with Republicans than anything. The reality is that he is a disappointment to those of who call ourselves Liberal. Apparently, anything to the left of complete Fascism is what Republicans, conservatives and tea-baggers consider radial these days.
haha!! "Middle of the road Democrat?" hahaha!!!!
Next, the government will be mandating us to do other things, each more invasive, until we have no personal freedoms and rights left.
yep. just like going to the western-most room in the house is a slippery slope to going to california.
happy birthday Binito
Seems like 70% are against alot of what the Democrats and Obama want... immigration, health care, economy, etc.
LOOK AT THE BIG PICTURE PEOPLE!
To put this iniative on a primary ballot just shows how scared they were to put it on even a MID TERM ballot little lone an Presidental Election year. same old rep tricks, sneak it through when nobody is looking.
excuse
Wake up, America.
the welfare babies want socialism. they don't want nor have the motivation to support themselves and the reason is because the fake concern of the liberals to pay there way with OTHER PEOPLE'S' MONEY!!!! you don't want to work, no worry, here's another 6 months of handouts.
repeal this loaded, corrupt sham and start fresh with real reform. No more illegal e.r care will be a big help.
Go tea party, stop the big government and the Obama radicals ruining out lives!
do you have insurance? do you not understand how insurance works? when you go to the doctor and you pay $25.00 and insurance pays the rest, do you not understand that the other people in your insurance plan are assisting you pay for that visit?
people are stupid.
Thanks Bob, nice of you to ask,
yes i have Insurance because i work for a living and waited 3 months for my benefits to start.
I voted for Prop C and I'm damn proud of it!
Phillip...thank you. I voted for prop c also.
Bob... What you don't understand is we had a choice whether to participate and pay for other peoples costs, that also paid and helped cover our costs. Now we don't have a choice to do that but rather, are forced to cover those that chose not to participate in the cost sharing.
