Since whichever party controls Congress also has control of the Budget and spending levels (the President can only sign the bills or veto them, effectively shutting down the government), let's look at the numbers for Clinton and Bush while Republicans controlled Congress vs while Democrats controlled Congress;

Clinton - While Democrats controlled spending = +2.4% in 2 years

Clinton - While Republicans controlled spending = -7.8% in 6 years

Bush - While Republicans controlled spending = +5.34% in 6 years

Bush - While Democrats controlled spending = +6.35% in 2 years

Obama - While Democrats controlled everything = +23.98% in 2 years (est thru 2010)

Perhaps history will repeat 1994 when the Republicans controlled spending and we saw the only significant DROP in the National Debt as a % of GDP.

In his book Barack and Michelle: Portrait of an American Marriage former Time magazine editor states “there were certainly no witnesses to the alleged civil marriage, no family members present, no friends present and none of their friends at the university had any idea they were even engaged or dating” Neil Abercrombie D Hi friends of Anna Dunham and Barack Sr. said nobody was invited to the wedding or knew anything about any wedding. In Dreams from my Father Obama himself writes of his parents wedding, “in fact. There is no record of any real wedding no cake no ring or giving of the bride away. No family no body in the family back in Kansas was notified of a wedding. Ronkonkoma--I see that you have a long list of the reasons why liberals are "obsessed" with Palin and also a long list of her supposed "accomplishments."

I will guess that, just possibly, you are either an employee of the lovely lady or that you might be the lovely lady.

Let's have a good hard look at her real accomplishments--as those you have listed out have a great deal more to do with the work of her staff members and those to whom she delegated these responsiblities:

1. Palin pawned the care of her oldest daughter off on other people, who did not watch her, and then she became pregnant out of wedlock. The two had very little contact until recently--and until recently, it was clear that Bristol's values were quite different from those of her mother. Now that Bristol is solidly in the pay of the far right, she sounds very different indeed.
2. Palin does not care for her youngest child. A child with Down syndrome needs constant care and constant stimulation to develop to the fullness of his abilities (and, by the way, that's actually quite high). One cannot be running all around the country and simultaneously caring for a child with Down syndrome. She totes the child around like a "loaf of French bread" (to quote someone who, by the way, has Down syndrome and a wry sense of humor).
3. Palin attended 5 colleges in 6 years and graduated with a "journalism" degree. She clearly has no experience in journalism, no grasp of how it works, and when she worked briefly as a broadcaster, her inability to do the work was patently self-evident. Absent some other explanation for this very odd educational history--and she has offered none--and given her obvious inability to do the work she theoretically trained for, one has to accept Occam's Razor and think that she was one step ahead of the academic misconduct committee the whole way. If this is so, she isn't the first person to cheat her way through a degree (and in contrast to President Obama's accomplishments in this area--it is one obvious way in which she is far, far less accomplished than he).
4. Sarah Palin cannot speak Standard American English. This is simply proved by taking any transcript of her speaking off-script and parsing it. The woman's grasp of English is on about a third-grade level. If she is writing her own Twitter messages--maybe she is, maybe she isn't--she also cannot write in Standard American English.
5. When things were going well in Alaska, she did fairly well as governor. This is because the state was on automatic pilot and the existing bureaucracy worked fairly well. She did, humorously enough, call herself a "socialist" during that period, and with some pride. When things stopped doing well in Alaska, and the economic crisis finally hit that state, she bailed on the governorship. The state is lucky, as they did need responsible leadership--but it was very, very clear that she was out of her depth and unable to lead.
6. Just read her resignation speech, dear. Seriously. Just read it. It is incoherant. Parse the thing. It is not SAE. Read it carefully--she sounds like a person in serious need of residential medical care.

The only thing we need to be concerned about with Palin is that there are enough very stupid people out there that she could, in the event of a third-party run, make trouble for the country. I don't think she could win (well, I am sure that most intelligent people in Germany didn't think that Hitler could win, either, when he first got on the stage--so perhaps this is wishful thinking), but I do know that she could make mischief.

Palin is the 21st century's Aimee Semple McPherson. Sadly, McPherson had way too much influence in her day. You can listen to the Ballad of Aimee McPherson by Pete Seeger for a excellent take on McPherson as a charlatan, which she most certainly was. Her few good deeds are dramatically outweighed by her narcissism and lies. One can only hope that Palin's own self-aggrandizing personality will eventually do her in as firmly as McPherson's did herself.

Her daughter could have easily gotten pregnant while she was at home as do millions of unmarried people every year. Hawaii officials have confirmed that he was born there, there were contemporaneous birth announcements (what, they anticipated back then he was going to run for Pres.?), a COLB confirms the location of his birth . . . basically you would have people disregard every official who has made a statement about this. You think this is a very, very vast conspiracy to conceal the location of Obama's birth, involving not only the Republican Governor of HI, but also the Republican Dir. of Health, not to mention the entirety of the US Congress, who unanimously approved a resolution observing that Obama was born in HI.
