Can't blame Nevadans for voting their pocketbooks even though most held their noses doing so. Times are tough and especially so in Nevada. What it came down to is that gReid is no one's cup of tea but he has done his job in bringing federal money home to Nevada. A newbie Senator Angle could not have delivered those federal funds and the misery index in Nevada would have shot up more. While still the problem children hold the Senate and the Penn Ave Temp Tenancy at least they can be neutralized and do less damage now. Gridlock is welcome in 2010 and looking quite good after the 2008 folly. Now on to 2012. We have cleaned out the incumbents in 2010. Let's keep up the forward movement in 2012 and keep up the pressure until a better man can win and lead. Or a better woman.

If education is so precious for all, and more cuts are coming, then the people who push for less better not bitch that their kids aren't getting a good education, or that police and fire don't come running. We could easily have free or reduced health care, but its all about the dollar, at the expense of the comsumer.

I would have rather had a better plan and one that I would be guaranteed my return on. I paid into SS for 57 yrs and for people to stupidly suggest that I just walk away from all that money that I paid in only makes sense to liberals. Since extending the Bush tax cuts to the top 2% of this country will cost an estimated $700 Billion I would like to know if the Republicans are for adding this on to the deficit, or if they have real plans as to what they plan to cut.

I am a true Keynesian, but tax cuts of this magnitude to the top 2% is one of more inefficient ways to create jobs.

JA the teaparty was supposedly started as a grass roots, nonpartisan movement and in some of the earlier rallies you see people holding signs with both Obama and Bush on them. But as I predicted to friends who supported this idea of the Tea party, it has been taken over by the extreme right. In doing so it has lost it's legitimacy.The most outlandish candidates did not get elected and the ones that did will once again be absorbed into the GOP.

How does the creation of the DEA and failed multi-billion dollar war on drugs created by Republican Richard Nixon and continued by Republican Ronald Regan fit into anyone's idea of smaller government or less government spending. Then GW adds the department of homeland security creating an even more centralized government control.

Calif may be the most liberal state...but parents didnt want their children subjected to the drug atmosphere....The more drug criminals they arrest, the more I support...Homeland security was formed shortly after the most serious attack on our country and you dont think it has a purpose??? The Department of Homeland Security has far more reaching arms than just making government organizations work together. Any time that a national emergency is declared ( floods, hurricanes ect...) ALL Federal,State, and local governments along with all volunteer organizations (Red Cross, volunteer Fire departments...) fall under the control of the Department of homeland security. If this was what our Founding Fathers want they would have included Artical 1 Section 9 in the US Constitution

Article 1, Section 9 of the U.S. Constitution states, "The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it."

This gives the federal government the power to declare Martial Law and is the only time that the federal government should have complete control.

Hopefully the people will wake up before it is to late. You give your freedoms away so freely as long as someone is spinning the tales you want to hear.
