I think one of the most interesting things about this midterm is that the GOP will probably get a new crop of star prospects out of their new governors. It's likely that a 2016 or 2020 candidate gets elected today.
And the name calling continues. Any post with idiot, turd, etc should be deleted. i know it's a lot of reading, but if you start bouncing them they will either go somewhere else, or straighten up.
Interesting thought on the new batch of governers providing a pres. candidate in the future. Could be. Trouble is the GOP would have to move the newcomers in around the objections of their present set of long standing spotlight hogs. Good thing if it could be accomplished. Just might open up a whole new vista. Again, interesting. All best.
Sanitation should be upheld every time.. not just on this topic but in all topics.. and I'd also suggest any body that calls the president of the United States idiot (A position I'm sure most of them on this forum will NEVER attain) should be deleted and banned...
America is undoubtedly turning more conservative as indicated in the national races. But much more indicative of the new direction of the country is the sweep of Republican candidates into the state seats. This huge influx of conservative candidates into these key positions have turned many blue states red and set the stage for the 2012 presidential election. Translation: Obama's in BIG trouble if he plans to run for a second term.
not a socialist - let's hope that the republicans realize that they were not necessarily returned to the majority because of their beliefs but rather that the populace no longer wantedthe leaderless democrats to keep on meandering down the road.
I heard this morning on the news that one thing the republicans wanted to do is eliminate earmarks (pork). Guess I will believe it when I see it, we are talking politicians here.
America is in TROUBLE after this mid term election - California and New York, the two most populous states are BANKRUPT. California has more people drawing unemployment and on welfare than state revenue coming in. New York is in a similar fix. Both states voted for their continued "entitlements". Nevada leads the nation in unemployment and foreclosures, Harry, 28 years in office, who had nothing to do with the economic crisis, (his quote) gets re-elected.
Americans want a plan from their political leaders, not gridlock and the same "special interest" buying candidates to create political gridlock.
Brown, Newsom, Boxer, Pelosi and Feinstein. My god, now I realize why pot legalization was on the ballot and I wish it had passed. I would vote for it now. We're gonna need all the pain killing medicine we can get.
I am now convinced, without need of further proof, that California is easily the MOST IGNORANT, DUMBEST, SHORT-SIGHTED, BRAINLESS state in the Union!!!! (good thing I sugar-coat things...)
What California did last night is obscene!! How long will it take before the rest of the 49 states have to use tax funds to bail California out?? won't be long before they are completely bankrupt!
And to think, Nevada held the title for only 30 minutes before California took it from them!
Granted, there was a huge conservative sweep last night. Just like there was a huge liberal sweep two years ago.
But people, you still aren't getting it. I still see too many following your own party lines without thinking for yourselves.
Do you honestly think things will be better now? Really?
No. They will be more divisive than ever. The political party leaders will continue to toss red herring items into the mix (i.e. gay marriage) to keep everyone's knickers in a twist and hope that they ignore what's truly happening.
And what is that? It certainly isn't "socialism". The people who toss that term around up here don't even know what it means (they just know to say it). What's truly happening is that corporations are in charge and the party leaders -- of both sides -- are good with that. Just look at campaign contributions and lobbyists. Pretty equal on both sides of the aisle.
But you know what? You really DON'T want change. Every person up here who voted for a Republican or a Democrat voted for THE SAME THING. Until we get rid of a two party system that is ruled by a few people NOTHING WILL CHANGE.
Every few years, we'll just have an election, scream CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE and elect the other guys. In the meantime, we'll argue over gay marriage, abortion rights, DADT, gun control and a myriad of other things that WON'T IMPROVE THE ECONOMY.
And when it boils right down to it -- the social issues ONLY affect the ones involved. The ONLY thing that affects this entire country, and by extension the world ....
IT'S THE ECONOMY STUPID
And neither party can fix it -- because they won't give up their turf war.
A good start toward CHANGE would be to change our attitudes toward each other.
How about starting CHANGE with civility? If a candidate runs dirty campaigns, automatic "no". If they can't maintain civility towards others in their jobs, say "no".
Hopefully, Newsvine will follow suit and kick off ALL of the insulting, nasty and "no value" posts up here for the next two years.
Then, when the next election comes around, perhaps we will look at other parties, other ideas and CIVIL candidates.
The only way to affect that change is to get people to re-register to vote as an independent. If the number of people registered to vote as independents far outnumbered REps or Dems they may listen.
Absolutely. And states should be REQUIRED to have open primaries. The closed primary system only benefits -- guess who? -- the Republicans and Democrats.
Shouldn't be allowed to call Obama an idiot? Why NOT, we don't live in a totalitarian country where no one is allowed to disparage the "glorius leader", the "messiah". He IS an idiot and I never had any interest in being the President of the USA and whether or not I did wish for that getting elected or not has nothing to do whether I call him an idiot or not.
He's not all that intelligent and is acting like the American taxpayer owes him grandiose vacations every month or two. Let's make him a one term president; he'll already be ranked WORSE than Carter in History.
Well, we are now poised in CA for Moonbeam 2.0 and the voters deserve what we have received. The public employers unions should have a field day raping the earnings of the population.
We have numerous issues confronting the state, but we elect the mayor of SF, a unique city, to be the LtGov. And one of the biggest issues for SF was to ban Happy Neals at Mickey D's.
Well, I voted so I now have to live with the results. Let's see just how Moonbeam will rule.
the house take over of the swine republicans without a clear plan on how to solve America's economic and structural woes, is a clear indicator and a referendum on how stupid the American electorate has become.
Was your point made stronger by name calling? I think not. That attitude is certainly NOT going to help this country work TOGETHER and CIVILLY.
Welcome home Gov. Moonbeam, We've missed you!! This is why I love Calif. and I will always enjoy my ocean breezes, good weed, and vibe until the day I die!!
yes... nothing i say will be enough to describe how much contempt i have for the GOP and anyone that empower it or vote for it...if i was the president i declare Martial law and i ship all the republicans and tea party and their sheeple to Afghanistan and Africa (since i know how much they hate black people)...
See .. you managed it without name calling -- mostly. However, how bigoted can you be to say ALL Republicans hate black people -- considering as how there are a significant number of black Republicans.
BTW: I highly doubt you have a clue as to what "martial law" is.
California is seriously broke, and with the re-election of lib Brown it will only get worse. My hope is that the wave of conservatives elected yesterday will not give California one cent of federal tax dollars to rescue their nutty welfare state when it goes all the way under.
In 2009, Alabama realized a return of $1.70 in federal spending for every tax dollar it sent to Feds. Who do they suppose coughed up that extra 70 cent per dollar bonus? Come on Alabama, guess. I'll give you a hint. Look about 1800 miles West. See that crazy state filled with liberals, gays and movie stars? That, Alabama, is where you get the money for your schools and roads and prisons. You, Alabama, and 32 other states receive at least an even return on your federal tax dollars. The other 17 states pay your way. California receives a lower return on the dollar than all but five states. We realize only about 79 cents in federal spending for every tax dollar we send to DC.
Before you, Alabama, or 32 other states, criticize us for our inability to balance our budget, think about where you would be if you didn't receive a nice chunk of California's tax dollars. So, Alabama and any other state that receives more than your fair share of federal tax dollars you need to pipe down and stop demanding that you get something out of any bill that guarantees loans for California -- you already have received your something something. Its time to return the favor, because if California goes belly up, you won't be receiving your federal funding bonuses.
Welcome home Jerry welcome home, we've missed you and we're glad you're back!!
Tyler, that is a cogent observation on your part, with regard to the next crop of stars in the making and the future 2012 and 2016 elections--I'm so happy to see that
Who knows what will happen. Short of revolution, I doubt much will change. It takes about 10 years for government to shift gears. President Obama has had less than two years and people are grumbling. Who was it who said you can't please all the people all the time? It's true.
Kevin, I applaud you for knowing your stuff. People like Alabama have no clue what they are talking about. They just think they sound intelligent when they do it. California and New York are better off then the rest of the nation. And if they have the audacity to complain and live in either of those states I say, take a hike! We don't want you nor need you here!
Well, I for 1 am glad the voters in California reafirmed their belief in the socialist system by voting in Brown and re-electing Boxer. Why? Because in 2, 4, and 6 years down the road, I expect nearly every democrat will be replaced by a conservative once it finally becomes obvious to even the most liberal zealot that they've been going down the wrong road for decades. Liberal voters of California, I have no sympathy for you, you're going to get exactly what you deserve.
Given the poor return on Federal tax dollars that California receives, I have to ask the obvious question - did you vote to send Boxer back to the Senate?
@MDC- is that why Cali had to put a freeze on hours and wages & forced furloughs this year because they could not meet payroll??? Seriously- don't tell us how wonderful California is when we all see the truth in front of us- California is broken- and Brown is only going to make it worse- he did it before- he'll do it again.
But good luck with that... I'm sure you feel the same way I do- I'm glad I don't live there. It's a good place to visit- but a better place to leave.
Congratulations CA your only real winners this week were the Giants, The rest of you Moon Beam worshipers bet on losers.
CA your on your own to find the answers to your self inflicted problems. The bail out bucket has a hole in it. NV and NY that goes for you too. Drain you're own swamp. The rest of the tax and spenders put down your shovel ready hole digging. Your hole is deep enough. Maybe you can ask the unions and Soros for a loan. They certainly had plenty to spend on your favorite sons and daughters in their campaigns.
Did you check the scedule of the Obama bus ride? The ticket reads; Non stop, Bridge to No Where. Snacks provided no tax on TEA but but a 50% surcharge on hemlock flavored snake oil laxative concoction. Sorry, toilet out of Order.
Redistricting.... I don't get how that is made to seem like a legitimate thing... Don't mind us.. we're just rigging the game a little more...
Republicans have said they want to cut $100 billion in spending in the first year
But they never say from where....
and try to roll back Obama's overhauls of health care and financial regulations.
#1 - He's still got the Veto power doesn't he? They can't roll back anything.
#2 - Which financial regulations do they want to roll back??? I thought the Repub argument was that Obama wasn't harsh enough, bailing the banks out, without getting enough strong conditioned regulations in place.... now the Repubs want to roll them back?
Dems are just spineless, and dumb... but Repubs are so openly in bed with banks and corporations that its obscene and insulting at the same time... Sluts and whores in suits.
Politics are the most repulsive part of the American experience.
Politics is a game for those who have the means to position themselves with the people and companies they wish to have influence from or for. I just wish as an american citizen we had the right to eliminate the pay that former members of the house and senate continue to receive after they have been removed from office. Plus the benefits. If I am let go from a job does the company still pay me? Heck no! So why are we, the american people allowing these people who "no longer work for us" to get paid? Is working for the government a "special" job, just because you get "fired" were still going to pay you. I don't think so and with this financial crisis this country is in why shouldn't we take a close look at how our government is spending some of our hard earned money. After all, how did they get it if not for us working. We have to start paying attention, we have been asleep at the wheel to long america. This is a business, and like any other business it must start meeting the budget and stop being 13 trillion in debt.
It's time to move the AstroTurf Party forward to revising the State of CA government. Perhaps the redistricting commission can work towards a goal to create districts where the candidates will actually have to listen to the will of the people.
Perhaps the will of the people will need to create a referendum to:
1. Cut waste by removing from the legislators, their per diem, state-owned cars, and actually have expenses reviewed.
2. Make the legislators accountable for missing a balanced budget.
3. Pass a bill that stiffens the term-limit rule by terming them from running for another office for the length of time they were in office. We don't need professional politicians in Sac.
4. help to balance the budget by placing a fee on all lobbyists who do work in the state. Make it a high tax, equal to the amounts of money they receive from their clients.
5. Place campaign spending limits equal to the salary of the seat they are running for.
6. Make English the state language, with all state business to be accomplished in English. We now publish literature in seventeen or more languages, which is costly to the state.
7. Require a state issued voting card to be presented prior to voting.
8. Crack down on criminal immegration.
Interesting thoughts, but issues that the legislature will never submit to.
Did anyone listen to Jerry Brown's acceptance speech last night? Did anyone understand what he was trying to say? Aaaaaggghhh!! Flashbacks!! Psychobabble!!
I loved it when he introduced his wife as "This".
Hide your wallet. Governor Moon beam is back in town!
I do not understand California. With Jerry Brown now more of the same. Big government, big spending, huge deficits, no immigration enforcement. Guess that is what they like there.
After 22 years of living in CA, I'm thankful that I was guided to leave 4 years ago for a much better future in a dominantly RED state. I'm floored that they didn't pass their stoner prop, and hoped for the sake of close friends there, that they would have gotten rid of Boxer when they had the chance. Unfortunately for them, they put that freakin' hippie in the governors mansion. So what you'll get is higher taxes, increased spending, welcoming to illegals which leads to more people leaving the state, more businesses leaving and the standard of living for the middle class dropping.
I think the words from a chilli pep songs says it best, "California rest in peace", stick a fork in it, its done.
Why all the arguing over Republican Vs. Democrat? It is all the same crap- government for the sake of government. You are all a bunch of brainwashed idiots. Nothing has changed or will ever change, they have their hooks too deep into you.
Why do people spew stuff without reading and doing any research. The last time Brown was Governor he left the State in fine shape. He was incredibly responsible as a governor. He closed up the Reagan palace and lived like a normal citizen in an apartment, he drove his own car. The right says they want responsible leadership, but guys like Brown who history shows was extremely responsible with the tax payers money, they rail against. Hypocrisy!
you are really happy with the situation you are in and the situation this governor said he will put you in?
he did promise to send everyone, documented or not, to college. that doesnt make you want to strangle him? how are the people of california going to pay for that?
really i got to know, cause the state as a whole is broke, so how are you going to send tax paying and non tax paying people to college?
That was then...unfortunately, this is now. Then, CA still had a strong economic engine and not near the entitlement and free-bee delemas. Brown's got the welcome mat out for illegals, in bed with the unions, top-heavy state pensions... CA is in deep kimshi now. CA and NY will be the first ones to fall and fall hard. Brown has no more clue about how to really fix CA than he does about fusion reactors.
People dont realise that brown (CA -gov) did a horrible job. They have very short memories. Its a shame that california hase been run by democrats for the last 3 decades, and went bankrupt about ten years ago. You would think they would learn.
JC- that's a safe bet!! Texas and Montana will take all they can handle! California has been moving up north for years now and it looks as if there will be a mass exodus after this news. How an entire state can be so short-sighted is beyond me.
What I can't stand though is that we will ALL have to pay for their bail out when (NOT IF) they fail- and they will fail- in epic fashion!
Thanks Cali in advance for all you do to further sink the nation!
Spg64, Did you vote to legalize MJ cause you smoke it?
I lived in California when "Moonbeam Brown" was governor last time and saw him take a EIGHT (8) BILLION dollar surplus and turn into such a large deficit that the state almost couldn't pay income tax returns. He refused to live in the Governors mansion (Sorry it wasn't Reagan that built it that was Brown SR) but then the STATE had to RENT an apartment for him and PAY TWO couples to live in the Mansion and maintain it. He also refused to ride in the automobile the state ALREADY owned, so they had to either LEASE or PURC HASE a Plymouth for him to ride in and for your information, He DID NOT DRIVE IT HIMSELF, he still had a Calif Highway Patrolman as a chauffer. He was also FAMOUS for holding up commercial flights because he refused to use the state owned aircraft (and they still had to maintain it and pay the pilots) and he couldn't get his sorry butt to the airport on time.
Brown was one of the MOST irresposible governors that California ever had. He left the state in bad financial condition, and was WASTEFUL of the taxpayer money. You need to quit drinking the Kool aid and do some real research other than in the LA Times, and other libtard papers.

I'm sorry colonialgirl(give me liberty...?), none of those statements are true. I remember it all quite well. Is that your memory talking, or can you provide some factual support for vile twist you seem to place on all phenomena? Happy person? Well, maybe you're not. I know my major unhappiness in life is that I must share it with all those challenged to develop an accurate perception of reality.

You and moonbeam must be tokin' from the same pipe. Have you even seen the interview he did right after his first stint as Governor? It appears you, sir, are the one who needs to do some research. Here's the link. Let me know how you feel about that douche after watching this...
JamieNorwood, In case you haven't noticed, people post on this forum because they are unhappy. Are you a California native, or did you reside there during the seventies as colonialgirl and I did? If you were there you must have a much different sense of reality of what it was like, possibly acquired from living in a vacuum. I don't know who is more dangerous, Brown, or Palin. There both nut jobs as far as I'm concerned.
Tonight a CLEAR message has and is being sent to the democrats... never ASSUME that power is ABSOLUTE! ...and work in cooperation with other parties for THE GOOD of the American People...the ones who sent you to DC to start with. Republicans, while you have been out numbered and out manuvered, remember that now is your chance to attempt to work with others,SO LONG AS THEY work with you. AFTER ALL,it is for US, WE the PEOPLE!
After these past 21 months of watching the GOP do everything in their power to "prevent" America from recovering from "their" f.u.c.k up under Bush/Cheney by blocking "everything"-apparently this is the GOP method of "working in cooperation with other parties for THE GOOD of the American People"-as well as catering to the most paranoid, extreme, ignorant and mentally unstable elements of our country solely to get themselves elected, do you have even the "slightest" clue of how completely bats.h.i.t "over the moon" insane and ridiculous that statement makes you sound?
Exactly "what" parallel dimension have you been been living since 2008 to come up with that zinger?
In 2008, the American people slapped the Republicans down hard for their screw-ups, and gave the reins over to the Democrats. The Dems, despite having a majority in the House AND Senate AND held the White House, couldn't find their way out of a wet paper bag with a map, a flash-light, and a 12 man work-party and so the people are speaking again. The message the Republicans SHOULD be hearing is "do what we tell you, or in 2 years, you're out on your hind ends."
America has wised up, and we're not taking anymore BS from our electorate.
I don't think either side can play nice with the other. While I am not a Boehner fan, THANK GOD that whack Job Pelosi is no longer Speaker of the House.
Now, if the Pubs can do more than "Just Say No" remains to be seen. If they piss away this opportunity to actually lead rather than trying to recall the Health Care bill and impeach Obama instead of concentrating on jobs and the economy they'll be out on their collective a$$es in 2 years.
The repubs will say "Yes" to their greedy/ corrupt corporate buddies like they always do (should be no suprise by now) and speed up the process of destroying what little democracy is left in favor of a corporate theocracy. When will the American people not be so ADD and see right through this? Give it a year or 2 and people will be 3 times as angry as the teabaggers and have no one to blame again but themselves.
The reason the administration was unable to accomplish more was due to the misuse, abuse and manipulation of the rules of the senate. Filibustering everything is not governing.
Eric the clear message tonight is what I saw you can "Buy" any election in the South and Midwest but you can not "Buy" an election where people are more educated - and attuned to where they want this country to head. Reminds me of an old joke - we know who you are we are just dickering on the price.

Outmanuvered is about all that's accurate about that post. The Republican resurgence this time around is founded, funded and beneficial to the unregulated companies that sank the economy and fuels the Talk Radio/Fox News propaganda. Gullible American voters too angry to see how easily they're duped have voted the fox back into the hen house. Unfortunately, we'll all be paying the price. It's okay, though. Once again Republicans are going to demonstrate how corrupt they are, though anybody who paid any attention to their obstruction and deceit these past 22 months couldn't help but notice. The right's willful ignorance is astounding. BTW, the term "We the people..." describes the community of our society, how we, the community, must work together because we're all in this together. "We the people..." is the consummate commun-ist paradigm. Tea bag/Tea Party right wing zealots don't have a clue about the nature of the Constitution they feign to protect, or the freedoms and liberties they abuse and shred. Well, the time for your hubris, bravado and tough talk are over. Now, you have to "man up" and deliver. Even though the middle class is paying lower taxes in history, you're still complaining about paying too much. Good luck cutting taxes and balancing ANY budget. You have two years to put up or shut up. Keep your eyes peeled for the epic fail. I'll be here on Nov 7, 2012 to tell you I told you so.
Obama is an ideologue and will get the message but ignore it. Fortunately, now he is in a headlock and won't able to ram his socialist agenda thru both houses of congress anymore. More importantly....WITHOUT QUESTION state redistricting is the feather in the cap of the Repubs.
I'm one of those TEA Party voters. This time we will not allow the Republicans to be irresponsible. The difference this time is that we are watching them like hawks and will pounce if they screw up.
To all of you cry babies wining about teabaggers. How about getting involved and make a difference. Its so easy to sit there and complain.
jr777 - just because the democrat name has many of the same letters in the word 'democracy' doesn't make them wish a democracy on us.
I understand that Steve Jobs (apple) recently gave the DNC $50 million dollars. Are not warren buffet (berkshire-hathaway and wall st) and bill gates (microsoft) supporters of your beloved democrats. Any comments?
The politicians (R & D) may already have sent us carreening down a path of economic distruction.
Until american businesses/entrepreneurs develop products that we can export to the emerging markets that they want to buy and that the american consumer is also willing to buy, we will have a trade imbalance.
What is the fascination of the american consumer to mainly buy anything NOT marked "made in the USA"? Could it be that they arrogantly believe that they are still economically the "top dog" in the world and don't need to compete or to support business growth in the USA.
Barbara #4.6: "Eric the clear message tonight is what I saw you can "Buy" any election in the South and Midwest but you can not "Buy" an election where people are more educated - and attuned to where they want this country to head. "You cannot buy an election where people are more educated?" Obviously you forgot that Chicago is still in the U.S. of A. And the joke ends, "what" you are, not "whom" you are. Not to worry, though; YOU CAN'T AFFORD THE PRICE ANYWAY.
Alaska told Palin to go pound salt (her guy, Milleer got his head handed to him by a WRITE-IN.
When did Jerry Brown become a republican conservative?
Did you get different election results from NYS than the rest of the country? Paladino also got his head handed to him.
Who has the majority in the Senate?
Man, you can claim whatever you want, but the reality is that two of the most populous states with two of the best education systems were not fooled by the republican propaganda machine. They know who screwed it all up.
Go ahead and collapse my comment, those of you who think that the loudest voice = telling of the truth. All that will happen in DC now is gridlock. And I believe the Reps used to campaign against that too! Let's see what they do to fix things (that would require DOING things, which they have always been against).
It isn't that people don't want to buy American, it is that our products are just way more expensive than the imports. I know, I have a small manufacturing company that has to compete. Labor costs, taxes and overhead make it impossible to compete on price - the only way to compete is on quality, but that only goes so far and doesn't work with every type of product.
So California, easily the state in the nation in the worst financial condition, votes for tax and spend democrats. Years ago, California led the nation ( a guy named Reagan was governor at the time). Now California lags the nation in education and in fiscal accountability. Last night, the rest of the nation discovered fiscal responsibility. You guys voted in Governor Moonbeam, Barbara Boxer and Pelosi. ( The rest of us had sense enough to demote Pelosi).
Because they have no other problems, the people in San Francisco outlawed McDonald's Happy Meals yesterday. Glad to know you folks understand priorities.
Good Luck, California, you are going to need it. Don't look for any bailouts from the rest of us.
Eric the clear message tonight is what I saw you can "Buy" any election in the South and Midwest but you can not "Buy" an election where people are more educated - and attuned to where they want this country to head
so barbara, what you are saying is that in the 'flyover states', we're all dumb and all you smart folks live in new york or california right? the 2 states with the biggest financial problems? where are all you 'smart' people in fixing those issues? plenty of educated people out here in the masses doing good things and not running state government into the ground. not to offend your educated sensibilities, but your hope and change sucks.
Gary, the last 8 years, Cal had Bush in the White house for most of it, and Ahnuld in Sacto. Both Republicans, IIRC. And they are in lousy shape. Why is this the result of a Dem? Sorry, you gotta give me some real facts on that one.
As far as the biggest financial problems? The biggest states have the biggest problems. It is a factor of population. Should we just kill offf people in order "solve" those problems?
And i f you come to my state, the state gov't doesn't have really big problems, financially, but they have sold off (they call it privatized) many of the state's biggest assets, and thrown education under the bus (sorry for the play on words). They got huge up front payments and have blown it all. Now they are looking at "unprivatizing" because it proved to be far worse than having things gov't run. NOTHING got done, or done right. And it is all under a 2 term Republican governor. Yep, it's a flyover state. And they never wind up with schools on the nation's top 100 lists. So think what you like, but the facts are there.
jc - I hear you, unfortunately the american consumer wants both low prices and high wages. Rather difficult to attain in a manufacturing environment today.
This will sound really off the wall, but what would happen if you advertised your product as the:
"best quality you can buy + you will be supporting your government programs"
it is very clear you no nothing about what has been going on in washington. it has been the idiots that voted in the rep. if you could only think back about the closed sessions the rep. had behind closed doors and they put the gap in medicare then the cuts on taxes for the 1% of the american people . then to vote in the same people that put this country in the toilet , yea thats realy smart . i could go on and on of what they did to the american people . like they say you can`t fix stupid........
American - I never thought of that... We need to stress the fact that buying higher priced products results in more sales tax!!! GREAT IDEA!!! I'm sure all of the Democrat shoppers will rush out and buy our products so that they can help support the government....of course, on the other hand, I may lose all of the Republican shoppers. Hmmm, I may have to give this some more thought......... :)
Willie J Brock, your post is almost worthless, your state is in deep poo and is broke and it has nothing to do with Arnold and much much more to do with the DEMOCRAT controlled Legislature and DO keep in mind that the DEMOWITS have controlled BOTH houses in California for far more than 30 years. The Democrats have spent and entitled California into a deep financial hole. Yup the DEMOCRATS blew all the money they got by selling off assets. When the state ran things, you had poor service and were racking up overly generous pensions, plus you couldn't fire the lazy, crazy or inefficient workers.
Under Bush, the unemployment was at a very low level UNTIL the DEMOWITS took over Congress and if you check, the economy and the stockmarket were both doing well until the same point.
It's not a matter of high populations and a matter of peeople wanting FREE bread and circuses and politicians that spend money as if it grew on trees.
As far as "giving you some facts"; You are the one that needs to be the one providing PROOF of your asinine claims.
Another colonialist! It seems to me that the biggest mistake obama has made is that he didn't stride into washington and ram a government option health care bill down the congrssional throat while he had a clear majority, but, instead, tried to compromise with business-interest republicans and fearful of the ballotbox dixiecrats, and, therefor, guaranteed a monopolist dream to the insurance companies. This when we need health care that is affordable for every type of person, and affordable to government. Support health care; not health insurance. I, too, am tired of the cynical complaints unaccompanied by real solutions. Is that what 'libertarian' means in double speak; liberated from making sense and offering real solutions.
Mr. Brock - we appreciate the view from the International space station. It's a much different picture in the mud pits created by tax and spend legislatures satisfying the gimme candy constituents.
CG: so you knwo which state I am from? Fascinating. Or you just read like a rep - i.e you're illiterate.
Akron: So we should just spend, like, W and Reagan did? You mean we shouldn't tax to pay for that spending, like, Clinton did? You can't read either, or maybe it's just historical facts you can't read. W and Reagan added more to the national debt than every other president in our history combined. What the hell kind of kool-aid are you drinking, genius? I know, for super numbnuts' like the cons, facts are just something we have to ignore.
NY, you are in so much trouble, and you don't seem smart enough to get yourselves out. So glad I got out when I did. The burden of NYC entitlements and political corruption will forever weigh down the rest of the state. So sad for the upstaters who are struggling with and those who will lose their land due to the massive property taxes needed to keep NYC above water.
You will never be right until you break free of NYC.
Being originally fron WNY, I visited there in august. Still love the food diversity and the people I visited but the sales taxes, food prices and property/school taxes seemed high. My mom wanted to know if I wanted to move back to NY, I said NO what she was paying in school tax alone was more than what I was paying for both property and school taxes in Iowa.
At some point, CA and NY will reach a tipping point and they will either change or go under. They cannot continue to raise taxes and expand entitlements; eventually, as with any ponzi scheme, it will all collapse. If they think they have problems now, just wait and see what happens after a collapse...
JC, that seems quite unexperienced thought. There is no tipping point. Governments can't fail due to financial problems. If you look back to all the cities(like bridgeport, ct. for example) which fell into default during the republican reagun eighties, you will find that they were all recued by carefully selected recovery plans. People must have governance, so governments find solutions. Do you see that John Bohner's crew is ready to step up to offer credible, feasible, reasoned solutions to these financial problems that their former party leader helped create? I wonder what you're looking at.
I disagree - there is definitely a tipping point. It is usually when the debt becomes too large to repay - which would be just about the time that total revenue minus interest payments equal zero.
While it is true that the government of CA will not cease to exist, it may be severely limited by outside interests, i.e. creditors. In which case, as with a bankrupt company, contracts and obligations (such as pension plans) can be altered by the courts.
All I know is that CA had better get control of the financial mess it finds itself in or it will face severe repercussions in the future. And, in my opinion, electing a liberal politician to oversee a financial crisis is simply absurd.
But, fortunately, I don't live there. My only concern is if I have to spend my hard earned money to bail out CA because of their poor choices over the years.
George Will once wrote a column in Newsweek (yep, he's very conservative, so you couldn't possibly argue with what he says, right?):
The title of it: Taste Is Character, and Character Is Destiny. The NYS election proves that. Paladino lacked any sense of decorum. I lived in Buffalo for 40 years. The guy never had a positive thing to say about anything. He still doesn't. That kind of character is not the destiny NYS wants, nor does anyone else.
Thanks, Will J., I'm not sure I've ever heard anything positive coming from a colonialist. I've been turning to tea, because I don't want to drink alcohol or too much coffee. That business about throwing the tea overboard may have sent a big message, but it was a cynical waste of good tea. This seems to be the approach of the libertarian right-wingnuts. All rhetoric, no substance. When everyone is ready to outlaw capitalism, private ownership of wealth, interest on money, then we might talk of a revolutionary government. But until then, it isn't King George, but, rather, the management of a capitalist economy that is our goverment's secondary responsibility to providing an economic marketplace wherein the greatest possible amout of people can benefit most with what, or whom, we must deal. The suggestion that we might solve things with limited governace typical of 1776 doesn't provide legitiment solutions for 2010. I don't like automobiles. I think they destroy the quality of life, and we would all be much better without them. I am aware they are 20% of the economy. I accept them because I am a social being(human) who lives in society even if I prefur not to pay the immediate costs of using autos, because everybody else wants them. Unlike autos, health care is a necessity for living. When all the right-wingnuts are ready to forsake the society in which they live, I think they should all be relieved of the burden of caring commonly for all the people around them. Good! Go to Montana, or South Carolina, or somewhere far away where you can all live separately and alone, and won't be forced to pay a fair share for all the benefit you receive from governance; and then, maybe the rest of us can develop a return to sound fiscal management without your incessant recalcitrance. Brainwashing is a form of education. When did education(the universities of california and new york being our foremost examples of excellence) become brainwashing? My education applied conformity and reasoning in thought that had been previously akin to the weather underground. Now I've moderated, all the pigs can live. Is it the fear that truth would expose faulty arguement for the ignorance that it is that prevents most colonialists from valueing formal education?
JamieNorwood, After reading this post of yours I have come to the conclusion that you are a tree hugging lefty. I suppose you won't be happy until all the roads are paved over with dirt, and were all traveling by horse and buggy. Are whale oil lamps and sod huts next? You dyed in the wools actually believe that the government should provide for everyone, even at the risk of bankrupting that source of support. I don't mind if a bit of the taxes I pay goes to help the ones that are truly in need, but there is too much fraud in the welfare system compounded by the fact that if you don't speak English your entitled to free everything, while a native citizen gets escorted out the door. While English speaking people must pass a drivers test after reading a drivers handbook, non-speaking applicants are given the answers by someone during the test. I have seen this with my own eyes. It's those people that are most likely to be the uninsured motorists that cause accidents, and surface unscathed while everyone else's rates go up. It's Liberal thinking that considers it OK for those people to drive because they have a right to, and it's Liberal thinkers that refuse to take responsibility for their actions. As I have stated in a previous post, Liberals will do anything to ensure their rights, by trampling on the rights of others.
Well, while we must try and be united for OUR country,we must also acknowledge that we have devisive people in the media that DO NOT WANT UNITY,and want to spew their uneducated and personally motivated opinions...
TO THAT end, we bid GOOD BYE to Chris Matthews, who is leaving to go back to Pennsylvania and run the Thomas"Tip" O'Neil museum. Keith Oberman is leaving broadcasting as no one wants a self rightious, ignorant and misinformed talking head on the TV...be it MSNBC or ESPN. Rachael Maddow, will simply slip back into oblivion, from which she came. ALL of the above are,in reality, nothing more than an insignificant fly on the rear end of a water buffalo
Eric do you have inside news, Chris Matthews is going nowhere nor is Keith Olbermann or Rachel Maddow - is this a fantasy in your head or just wishful thinking so Faux News and Glen Beck can make you what a 1984 Brownie ?
You know, it's funny with all of you and your cute little plays on words ("faux news") when you talk about the media. Don't you dumbasses know that they all have an agenda? Fox leans to the right and MSNBC leans to the left. As a result neither of them report the whole story. Why don't you watch both to see both points of view and then make your decision based on all the information instead of only watching one network and then telling those that don't watch "your network" that they are stupid. This is why our electorate has been swinging to the left and right every other election. Because they alternate who gets the loudest voice every couple of years.
After last night at least our govt is closer to being in the middle than it has been in a while. Just like after the dems took over in '08, I will wait and see what happens after January. They will either start working together or they will get into gridlock. (IMO, the way Obama seems to act, there will be gridlock first. I do hope I'm wrong)
If our govt doesn't get their @!$%# together, then my votes again will go towards kicking them out.
Uneducated(not) and personally motivated(because they don't agree with you?). This sound like the definition of 'Republican.' Rule by agenda and the perception of reality that serves you best personally.
The Country should pay attention to the way the northern states- New York and others vote (Democratic) ...because we know the real deal. The country is afraid of change and they want instant gratification. The country is not willing to give change a chance. They elected a black President into office to fill the role of fall guy, never giving him a chance. It is shameful. Lets just keep giving the country to the pharmaceutical companies, the banks, big business, insurance company's and forget about the middle class. All we need is two classes of people right, the rich and the poor...cause that's where we'll be headed if the republicans take the country back.
I feel you Belinda, because they don't know what they have done to this Country, they have Mess up Electing these Republicans. No Social Security,No Nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It funny how you Dems always cry about large corporations, pharmaceutical companies, banks, insurance companies etc.....and you forget about the biggest corporation of America at this time...THE US GOVERNMENT!! This country is built on capitalism not big government. Even though things aren't perfect here in the US, it's far better than any other country in the world. I have been to the Phillipines, Japan, Thailand, South America and most of Europe. I served four years in the US Navy and have seen my share of despair. Allow government to take over the people by welfare, illegal immigration, and national health care and watch this country become a 3rd world country like many of the above mentioned countries. When the government can tell you what to do with your life....your life as a human is over. Who do you think pays for national heath care? Who do you think pays for welfare for illigal immigrants? Who do you pays for government imposed social programs.....I'll tell you.....it's the working class and middle class that pay for it. Live in California and you'll see what a corrupt government looks like. The US is the greatest nation to live on earth and those big companies that were mentioned.....EMPLOY PEOPLE!!
Yeah right. New York used to be the empire state. It isn't any more... The states been losing jobs for decades....
I grew up in Hyde Park and graduated from a SUNY school, but there were no jobs when I graduated and had to move west, like so many others.
NYers are still living off the inheritance of the glory days of the 1800's, when republican ideas like low taxes and pro-business established a strong financial industry in NY. That industry base has held NYers in good stead, but its continued success isn't due to NYers political decisions, that's for sure.
Belinda - I remember traveling to Brazil in the 1980's no middle class and the coffee barons lived behind guarded fences, kidnapping was rife, people lived in shacks and crime was rampant for a good meal - Brazil woke up - today they are developing their middle class - yes still not there - but they have not allowed anyone investing in their country to own more than 49% interest , it seems to be working.
What all of you posters on the right to aspire to be the billionaires you admire is not going to happen - period.
You are pawns and until you get educated yourself and your children you will always be pawns for the self interest, big corporations - Read abot our history the "Robber Barons" are back and you are supporting them. Enough!
Message to Georgia peach, did you know what was in the fine print at the bottom of the original hand bill promoting social security? In brief, what it states is the social security taxes collected are to be used at the discretion of Congress. It's not our money, they just give some of it back to us. It's amounts to a slush fund for them to do with as they please. Americans have deluded themselves into thinking that they have a right to that money. The reality is, as long as people are paying into it, it will always be there. The only ones that initially benefited from the program were the first recipients because they never payed in. The ones paying now are funding future recipients, the money we're getting was furnished by our predecessors. The problem with that arrangement is that if there are no jobs to provide the taxes, some one down the line is screwed. There have been remarks on his forum about Republicans sucking up to corporate greed, but those greedy corporate types provide more jobs when Democrats aren't calling the shots. Democrats are notorious for giving away our tax dollars for social programs when it is jobs that are needed. How does it go, give a man some bread and he'll eat for a day, teach him how to make it and he'll eat for life, something like that. Democrats are good at creating a situation by which most people have no incentive to help themselves. They want everyone to know that they cannot survive without government assistance. An elderly person for example living on social security finds an odd job to fill in the gaps, not enough to live on but just a little extra, but if that little extra income exceeds a certain limit their social security check gets yanked. This person has a chance to do something positive in society and feel useful, but nix that idea. The Democrats want that person living in a rat hole eating dog food. Both parties have their faults, but in my lifetime I have seen prosperity when Republicans are at the reigns. I know two dyed in the wool Democrats, and they think it's OK for their tax dollars to support the dregs of society. Welfare started with good intentions, but has been subject to fraud by able, but lazy people. As far as I'm concerned they're state sponsored criminals. This country is in a deal calm at the moment, and our financial woes were at the hands of both parties. I have business associates that are Democrat, and they want O'bummer out. Republicans good for business, Democrats, well I'll leave it to you to figure out. BTW, I don't vote for any of them because I thing they are all liars, cheats, and thieves to one degree or another.
Typical delusional Democrat. Always thinking they have all the answers when it's obvious to anyone with half a brain that OUR COUNTRY doesn't want your socialist agenda. I love my Country and I'm thrilled to take it back from jackasses like you. Can't wait for 2012 when we can get rid the worst offender; the one in the White House.
I agree with you on the change thing Obama and the Democrats have had only 15 months to stop the train from going over the cliff and much of what was done is dependent on how thing were going overseas which is also just starting to get their feet back on the ground. Midterm elections are bogus because the President if he is not lucky or as in Bush's case presented with a sweetheart deal from the past President has little time to effectively change anything. Forst in the months from the inauguration to October 1 he is operating under the previous Presidents budget because fiscal for the preceding year ends then. No one can expect the Democrats to turn this around in 14-15 months because of the outside influence from overseas. Japan just injected 350 billion into their economy, Greece and the EU are just starting to recover. In times like these patience is the name of the game and enough people just did not have the will to stay the course and added to the Supreme courts decision to let corporations decide the election we are now faced with gridlock for two years while the rest of the world continues to leave us in their dust.
Uh, Belinda - In case you didn't notice - the country did vote for change - big, big change - they voted Republican overwhelmingly. Now that' a change I can believe in.
I also assume that you didn't listen to any of the news stations on TV or the radio. They were saying that Obama had two years to make the change he promised and he missed the mark. Now he will have no choice but to be the nonpartisan prez he claims he is. What a joke this man is. Sorry, I know he's your messiah, but he had so many chances to do the right thing and he was too busy having drinks with old college professors, playing golf or shooting hoops, going on vacation with wifey the spend thrift - anything but do the job he promised to do and was elected to do. So now the choice has been made no matter how much you whine about it. I have many friends who admit they are sorry they voted him in. I didn't vote for him, and wouldn't vote for him. I went with my gut that told me his hopeful audacity was all wrong for this country and that his America and my America were not the same. So hold on Belinda, you're about to see some real change coming down the pike. BTW - I'm from Long Island.
Why do people insist on turning ANYTHING about this into a racial thing??? People elected Obama for his message and promises, not having ANYTHING to do with the color of his skin. I'm not saying anything for or against him, but stop putting anything related to RACE in these posts as it just is a horrific generalization that isn't based on fact.
Wow Belinda2589937... Even in the face of such defeat in yesterday's elections and such obvious presidential failure, what with all the things he promised to do and never actually did, you're still blaming the other side... At first it was: This country is racist... They'll never elect a black president! Then this country did elect a black president and now it's still the other side's fault 'cause they didn't give him a chance... Amazing... Do you leftists EVER take responsibility for anything? What am I saying? Of course you don't! In the land of the left it is ALWAYS someone else's fault...
You Belinda are an idiot. While I hate to be so rude, it's a simple fact that you do not know what you are talking about. Check the FACTS, the are far more wealthy DUMOCRATS in power than Republicans. They just keep idiots like you brainwashed into beleiving you need them. You are being used!!! They use your stupidity to maintain power and control for themselves. It is predominantly middle class that is Republican. And guess what, Look at the economy, the liberal Dumocratic way of doing things has hurt this county tremendously!!! Odumba's spending has FAR outweighed in the war costs and they have accomplished absolutely nothing. This is a PROVEN fact. Republicans aren't perfect but far more responsible and concerned with average moms like me. You dumocrats want to take my tax cuts away and I do NOT make anywhere close to $100,0000 so how am I rich? Get a clue!!
Apparently, majority of Californians are too dimwitted. Brown failed as governor before. He failed as Mayor of Oakland. But let's vote him in anyways. The most populous counties will never vote conservative. Too many freeloaders and lazy people. What a joke.
Well, at least that douche Pelosi is out as Speaker of the House.
I am governor Jerry Brown
My aura smiles and never frowns
Soon I will be president...
Carter power will soon go away
I will be Fuhrer one day
I will command all of you
Your kids will meditate in school
Your kids will meditate in school
California Uber alles
California Uber alles
Uber alles California
Uber alles California
Zen fascists will control you
Hundred percent natural
You will jog for the master race
And always wear the happy face
Close your eyes, can't happen here
Big Bro' on white horse is near
The hippies won't come back you say
Mellow out or you will pay
California Uber alles…
Uber alles California…
Now It Is 1984
Knock knock at your front door
It's the suede denim secret police
They have come for your uncool niece
Come quietly to the camp
You'd look nice as a drawstring lamp
Don't you worry, it's only a shower
For your clothes here's a pretty flower
Die on organic poison gas
Serpent's egg's already hatched
You will croak, you little clown
When you mess with President Brown
California Uber alles…
Uber alles California…
Poor Scott: He can't tell a fascist from a socialist. And yet he is allowed to vote. The only thing that won this time is the dumbing down of the American body politic. We have already gone over the edge. You can spread your arms out and open your mouth, but you are still falling into the abyss. Unchecked by regulation, enforcement and education, the only time it will hurt is when you hit bottom.
If you elect republicans, you're electing big business (specifically oil and pharmaceutical companies). I'm tired of corporations running this country. Why do republicans hate the healthcare bill? Because pharmeceutical companies tell them to with billions of dollars. Who came up with the idea and then wrote the legislation for the Arizona immigration law? A private company that builds and runs prisons. Americans are dumb and have no clue what's going on in the world. Obama is trying to clean up the biggest mess in history, and you idiots are only giving him less than 2 years? Bush took us to war for oil and to give Haliburton contracts, not for any other reason. WAKE UP!
Bush took us to war for oil and to give Haliburton contracts, not for any other reason.
Really??? So then I guess the fact that we aren't getting any of the oil that we went to war for would sort of ruin your silly theory wouldn't it.... SHEESH!!
We aren't? How do you know that? I think you're wrong...long-term, we will get oil from Iraq, which has a lot of oil reserves. Oil companies have controlled the political agenda in this country for decades. We ship by truck, instead of rail (totally impractical and backward), public transportation is a joke because government officials would never invest in it...if they did, oil companies would lose money. You need to wake up.
That, Keith is my money that I worked for before I paid my taxes and social security. And no bank receive a cut along the way. And only my earnings qualify me for that unemployment insurance for which my employer is responsible, and no insurance company took a cut along the way. I earned those entitlements in a previously agreed upon employment structure written into law and managed by government because we have agreed that private business can't be trusted not to take a cut along the way. If you insist upon revising history, you may find that attention to the chronologic order of events may prevent your inaccuracy.
Open Minded(Not) there you go again. Stating a falsehood as if it were fact, and pontificating on the faulty assessment. Not once, mind you, but consistently getting it wrong. Don't sound happy, do we? Which came first: the unhappiness, or the politics of dispair?
OklahomaMom. Where? I didn't read that. Where did you see that Obama wants to take away tax cuts for those earning less than $100,000? Are you sure? You aren't believing something just because that's what you want to believe, are you? And then stating it to us as if it were fact! Are there other Oklahoma Moms like you?
JamieNorwood, consistently getting what wrong, and what falsehoods, and what faulty assessments? Could you be more specific? I can take constructive criticism, and I don't mind being corrected if the information is valid, so please reply. BTW, I'm more open minded than you might think. I see politics and religion for what it really is, and I'm not afraid to call it as I see it.
First of all I never voted for Obama, so I didn't want his type of change to begin with. Second, I have no sympathy for him. He's a big boy and if Bush left as big of a mess as everybody wants to blame him for then it should have been obvious to Obama what he was in for. He made that choice, I didn't ask him to run.
Now for those of you commenting on Social Security: Personally, I don't care if it's around. I'd rather have the option of not paying into it and taking care of my own retirement, if I retire. (See, I don't believe in the entitlement to retire. What did people do before SS? They took care of themself.) And if you want to argue about those who are disabled, let me stop you there. I am all for some sort of benefit for those who are truely disabled to the point of not being able to work. That would still bring down the amt pd into a SS program bc the number of people benefitting from it would be much less. (and maybe we could make some of these large corps that pump people full of chemicals through food additives and polution and such pay a portion or that. See I'm convinced that all of that nonsense has contributed to the high number of new ailments that cause people to not be able to work. But I digress...)
Frankly, I live in a very republican dominated state and we have done quite well. As long as we keep the federal govt out of our state's buisness. I am what some would call a libritarian I suppose. I believe less is more. Less govt will force the rest of us to learn how to care for ourself. It's been documented that the children of those on welfare programs are much more likely to be on welfare programs themselves. The best way to break that cycle? Cut them off.
And the large corporations that everybody loves to vilify employ millions of people here. Now, if we run them out, they will still make money here in the US, but we won't benefit from their money. Some other country will. So, next time you you want to burn them at the stake remember that. Do I think we should let them run free, no. But the President should be careful when he starts attacking these companies.
Being an idealist is ok in some instances, but when it comes to real politics and the real world it never works. I would love for everybody to love eachother, the earth to thrive, everybody to have jobs and world peace. But I know that will never happen. Some people just need to realize that too.
One of two things will happen. All the poor there and minorities will realize soon how screwed they are now if Paul does what he says he'll do... OR everyone who voted for him will see all the BS they were fed when he doesnt do ANYTHING he said he would do. Take your pick but rhetoric will come back to bite you.
I don't see how Dems can be wringing their hands. Obama and his minions sought to leave our country in the red financially--we're just returning the favor.
N.Cali.girl - since you identify yourself as a girl I expect you are under 18 and not a woman - most females reach womanhood at 18 since you have the right to vote. So "Girl" I say to you as a woman go to school, college is ahead of you, live, read and learn then post here 5, 6 years hence, then maybe only maybe I will listen to you my child.
You took the time to reply. Obviously you read. Obviously you listen. And since you don't like what you hear. You try to belittle. Typical Liberal scheme.
You go cali girl. Barbara, maybe you ought to take a minute and listen to the younger generation. Even if you don't agree with what they say, you should at least listen to a differing point of view instead of being a condescending know-it-all. you remind me of my stepmother. She is also a condescending bitch that doesn't know half as much as she thinks she does.
Don't you realize that in a few years, they are going to be the ones taking care of you and changing your diapers?
Well the way it looks fromwhere Im sitting is that the country was in this condition when Obama took office. That's the whole reason he was elected....the republicans wanted someone to blame the mess on. The NY government may have been GIVEN to an idiot (not elected) but that doesn't mean that all democrats are alike...WE NEED TO START THINKING ABOUT WHAT MATTERS MOST>>>PEOPLE! Why do you think there is so much illness in the world? If you can't afford to live a certain lifestyle, you can't take care of yourself...that is the state of MOST of this country!
Oh Donna, I live on the planet EARTH. I'm just down to earth and realistic.
I agree with you, Belinda. It's the attitude of those above - the "us and them, we and you" crap. It makes people feel better to blame an entire state or country or political party and point the finger, but it's that very attitude that is at the core of many of our problems as a human race. We should not be trying to pass the buck all the time, but perhaps looking at ourselves and trying to do the right thing - for all of us.
When you work in the healthcare field as I do, and you see everyday how the insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies control the care that a patient receives, they determine if they can get treatment, how long treatment will last what medications they can or can not take, how often they can go, and if they are entitled to assistance at all. People who have no benefits can get help from the government. Those who pay for their benefits, their lives are in the hands of their insurance providers. Big business compaies may provide jobs, but the jobs don't offer enough money for the recipients in this state (Iowa and New York are like two different countries financially) to live on. It is not equal pay for equal work. Example I work in the healthcare field, I have a masters degree, I am working on a PhD and I make 39000 per year. This country is backwards. We do not value life, we value money. As I said, it is a shame. I paid hundreds of thousands for an education but will probably die still owing money on my student loans.
It sounds like you need to move to Texas. I assure you that no individual with an MS degree that works in the healthcare industry here earns so meager of a salary (that works a normal work week anyhow). We are a Republican state, who would have thought?
Belinda, I understand your view, but from where I stand, I saw the govt telling people that they COULD live beyond their means and they ate it up. Many used their houses as ATMs and created the real estate bubble. Many used the easy credit that the banks were encouraged (by the govt in creating an environment friendly to wall street) to loan out. After the bubble burst, the govt continued to give money out to those who had made bad decisions.
Regarding health care, I don't work in the medical field, but I do pay insurance. The health care bill did nothing to address the high costs of medical care or the high rates the health insurance companies charge. In fact they handed the insurance companies an additional 30 million customers. Everyone's rates are going up because when a corporation knows you have to buy from them, they will charge as much as they can (congress and the president did NOT realize this when they passed it). There were a couple of good things in the bill like insuring children until they are 26 (as a response, insurance corps are now dropping child insurance alltogether), and not allowing them to drop you if you get sick (as a response to that, insurance corps are raising rates even higher), but in general the bill is not going to do as advertised. As for your pay, I don't want to sound mean, but does your job require a PHD? Are you in a job that doesn't pay much more than what you are making now? I would also say that there are many out there who have student loans who are not able to get a job.
In '08 we elected a group of people who said they were going to fix the problems that caused this mess and they told us that they were going to fix the way govt worked. Now 2 years and 3 trillion dollars later, we are still in the same boat we were back then. Govt is still acting the same way they did and people are still out of work. While I didn't expect these problems to be fixed overnight, I did hope to see some progress. There hasn't been any.
Now in 2010, we again voted for a different set of people who are telling us they will fix this mess. they have 2 years to get us going in the right direction or they we be tossed out and we will try with a new set of folks until they understand that we EXPECT them to do thier job.
I might add, fortunately, people are more informed now, thanks to the Internet, and becoming more active in the political divisions. Some think the tea party was just a passing fancy, but just wait and see. If the Republicans don't do what they claim they will do, they will be out. The same goes for the Democrats.
You need to take yourself over to England and other places where they have Government run health care and see what a crappy job they do; Waiting lists to get into a hospital (don't be old, you move to the bottom of the list), decisions that life saving treatments and drugs "cost" too much, poor conditions in many of the hospitals, no chioce of Doctors or surgeons UNLESS you buy PRIVATE Insurance, the list just goes on and on. Heck, you can just go up to Canada and try to get some service in a reasonable length of time, Heck, even their political leaders come to the USA for Med care.
Too bad your education was wasted, you apparently learned nothing.
Um, have you actually BEEN to England? Or ever used any of their health care? Or are you just parroting what you have been told? I'm expecting it's not likely to be any of those but the latter, so I think your soap box is unwarranted. Point of fact, ANY health care is better than none, and that is the situation for many people in this, the land of the free. Health care here is only better than other Western countries if you have MONEY; something those other world leaders are rarely short of. Costs of medical care here are high in part to high costs at insurance companies. They still have the same drugs we have here, but they cost less. If you lived in a border state, you would see the tour buses full of our elderly heading across the border to Canada to pick up medicine on the cheap. I have been around the medical field all my life, and I can echo Belinda's statements. Health care dollars are largely spent at the TOP of the insurance tree on administrative costs. State side, we spend 4 - 5 times what any western country does in this area. France (the model of efficiency) has private insurance, and their total costs at the admin level are around 4.5%. We are around 23%. That means hundreds of top execs making $100 mill, or MORE. Seriously, no joke. Look it up. Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE a $1.2 BILLION retirement package like a recent Health insurance CEO got. But at some point, we people of all political stripes have to realize they are USING us. That's OUR money they lined their pockets with, rather than keep us healthy. Health cannot be run as a business. Sooner or later businesses cut their loses, and sooner or later, that's you. Do not ask for whom the bell tolls.. it tolls for thee.
I should think a little education would do YOU some good. You apparently have no idea what's going on. But if you doubt any of what I have said, feel free to fact check it. I'll wait.
Who thought of the whole color scheme of our current politics anyway? It seems a bit off. Isn't it the Dems who have the greater tendency to "put us in the red" financially? Don't their policies more closely resemble our big red adversary who lost the Cold War?
Wasn't it the Red coats (not the original tea partiers) the ones who zealously and arrogantly taxed colonists for the "greater good of Great Britain"?
But don't let the media decide your color! They might want to paint our red door black.
4 whatever-
big test most males prefer blue hence all the blue suits -
Actually - you're so called "Reds" put us in this financial mess, obviously you missed the quote by "Cheney" that said deficits con't matter - fact check that if you will - and Bush's wars totally off the books not in the budget - fact check that one too
You are so off base it bogles my mind that color decides people's minds.
4 Whatever my front door is painted "Purple" I guess it makes me a homosexual or just a person that likes purple. orange is high on my list and all golds tones - go home you are an adolescent
Wanda N - sorry you have no last name ashamed?
But Nancy Pelosi will go down in History as first woman of the SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE that accomplished what no man ever could, 400 bills passed granted many blocked by the Senate - but policy above politics - was demonized by I hope not your close friends , to be the most effective Speaker we have ever had. Buy the way what did she eve do to you personally? Big question have the guts to answer it ?
Or Wanda No Name are you just mimicking the right wing blather
The only thing Pelosi accomplished the no man ever could was to get pregnant and have children. Something any woman can do.
As for her qualifications as speaker, she made it the same way they got those unpopular bills passed, by threatening, bribing ("you make me speaker and I'll put some pork in the bills for you"), and arm twisting. Those 400 plus bills have put us deeper in debt and have accomplished almost nothing.
And by the way, I'm not even close to being right wing, like those idiots, Beck and Limbaugh, but because you stand so far left, EVERYONE appears to be right winger from your point of view.
Belinda-2589937; "The country is afraid of change and they want instant gratification. The country is not willing to give change a chance. They elected a black President into office to fill the role of fall guy, never giving him a chance.""
But they will soon learn that the fall guy that they think they have is no fall guy at all, as the newly elect begin to view this Great President's Accomplishments over the past 24 months, while they where running for election, it will over whelm them, when the newly elect awake tomorrow and realize that the unemployed are waiting and they can no longer avoid the press or hide from the questions of the people, it will confuse them, when our great president put out new plans for the good of the country and they are force to vote with our president, in the year 2010 and not 1710 in a big Government, in a Diverse Country of all ethnic groups, it will shock them....
J Wesley - what planet are u living on. We have no money thanks to the Republican morons who use it for War and ship our jobs out to other countries rather than hiring Americans. I realize more and more how selfish and greedy the republicans really are!
AH, Angel, where have you been, Obooger and the Demowits have managed in less than two years to rack up the BIGGEST DEFICIT this country has ever had, it's bigger than all the past deficits added together. The Demowits spent more in the first year and handed out money to their supporters on wall street as if it grew on trees. Speaking of MORONS, I'd say that more closely fits those that continue to worship at Obooger's feet anf fail to face the truth. Must be powerful koolaide you've been drinking.
Perry just needs to go. I cannot believe that he won again and now is the longest serving govenor ever in Texas. Wow! That guy has run this state in the ground, but keeps on winning. Wake up Texas!
concerned aggie - but this guy is so good looking what possibly can he be doing wrong - American prioities are so scewed if this guy was not a Marlborough ad he would have lost hands down, all the so called Texans identify with him, why the hell a Northeastern graduate moved to Texas, bought a n0n- farm with one aging cow on it in Crawford Texas and cleared imaginary brush , wore jeans and a Texas hat and won the presidency, strike that stole the presidency , Because the so called "Macho" men - did I hear 35 million take Viagra? Oh well the so called macho men try to identify with him - maybe - just maybe- with beer bellies can identify with him - Yuk want a be's How pathetic - and the Texas women all stepford wives - this is how you vote honey - Sorry for all I am definitely on a rant
Concerned: Perry didn't just win....he WON. Clearly you didn't live in Houston during Bill Howdy Doody White's mayorship.
Barbara: wow...jealous much, girlfriend?? Your post has not one statement in it pertinent to the Texas governors race. Your ignorance is glowing brightly.
Fact is it wasn't even a contest. There is a reason why Texas is on top of the rest of the 49 states in jobs, affordability, etc. Rick Perry.
Hey Barbara... Ya' might wanna slow down friend. Otherwise you might get a little retaliation from us "Stepford Wives". I'm not sure where you're getting your information from but down here in the good ol' south we have jobs, we can still buy a decent house without having to pay more than half a million for it and, in case you haven't noticed, the majority of people here still have their priorities straight. You know: For GOD and COUNTRY! Interestingly enough down here we still think we need to say grace before our meals, we still believe in God despite all you liberals trying to say He doesn't exist, we still think it is not a good thing to send your 14 year old kids to school with a condom in their pocket "just in case" they'll have sex! All these things are called good, moral values, ya' know the kind you liberals have no idea how to impart to your next generation because you don't have them yourselves! That is precisely why you elected a man that said in a pre-election speech that if his daughter would ever get pregnant out of wedlock he wouldn't want her to be "punished" with a baby. Nice job! Maybe now things will change a little bit for the better and God will be invited back in our country so He can help us out of this whole. Hey, but don't worry about it... He said He rains over the just and the unjust alike so just lay back and enjoy the good times even though you haven't done anything to contribute to them! PEACE!!
So Barbara you go from talking about how good looking a man is to man-hating. Interesting... Well I can only imagine that George H.W. Bush moved here because of his business ties in the oil industry, which so many of your astute democrat brethren point out. You know... War for Oil.. blah, blah, blah! I do accept your apology. Whoop!!
Concerned Aggie..
I really don't know where you are going with the running the state of Texas into the ground. I would say that we are in a great position fiscally, especially with respect to other states in our country. Can you give me some examples on how he is running our state into the ground? I can't seem to think of any.
I'm just glad Perry made it back in instead of White. Otherwise, we would have become a sanctuary state instead of a sanctuary city like White made out of Houston.
Actually I was referring to Matthew 5:45 which says He makes His sun rise on the wicked and on the good and makes the rain fall upon the upright and wrongdoers alike. :)
We, as upstate New Yorkers, can never hope to own a home without fear of OVER-TAXATION until we slice ourselves away from NYC.
ALL of the upstate tax revenue goes to fund NYC.
ALL of the tax revenue from the Roads and Bridges Fund, designed to keep our roads in good repair suddenly disappeared and was found again in the coffers of NYC.
75% of NY politicians represent NYC.
75% of NY corruption comes from NYC.
For NYC, our taxes are free money. It's time we took it back by voting a measure to seperate NYC from the upstate permanently.
It is also time to stop over-taxation and get these stupid idiots to vote for something OTHER than Democrat.
Republicans will agree on spending trillions on war but say no to programs that will help those fellow Americans who are in need - what's wrong with this picture! - you will always be the party of greed! By the way, we pay state as well as city taxes - so get your facts straight
Derick - without us LIBS you would not have Social Security - you would not have Medicare - so maybe you are too young now but I bet you have grandparents or mom' that benefit from these programs.
So without our Libs you would not have had the FDA in case you don't know that it is the Federal Drug Administration, the Environmental Protections
And if you really don't care whether you are being poisoned or not let's go back to something which you probably hold dear to your heart - The Federal Parks System which Teddy Roosevelt enacted and following Franklin Delano Rossevelt the WPA that gave you all your hiking trails - preserved all our natural parks
So Derick what do you like - that the Republicans have sponsored sending jobs overseas, decimated our industrial complex, wanting our last bastion of manufacturing to fail the auto industry?
Hey Derick - speak up what has the Rerpublicans personally ever done for you? Name one - I dare you!
barbra - still have no SS just a box of IOU's. Seems that what was once solvent LBJ saw fit to add it to the general fund to make the budget balance look better. Politicians (R & D) have been raiding it since. Ever look at the budget? $$ spent on SS programs are still lower than $$ coming in.
USA! USA! USA! Enemies of this Nation go to North Korea, Iran or Kenya. Let's us start building the Nation back to her early glory! Two more difficult years ahead until all the slime is gone!
I agree, two more years and we can finally get rid of any slimy republicans or democrats. We only want decent people from both parties. By the way. Kenya is Democracy friendly to the USA.
"ab actu ad posse valet illatio" From the past one can infer the future.
And our past isn't so glorious when it comes to people but rather bloody. Think about the genocide of the Indians, the North-South war, Correa, Vietnam, Iraq, Kuweit, Afghanistan and all the other "too small to mention" wars Not to mention all the killing ordered in South and Central America, etc.
So..do you think GOD likes killings and killers?! Do you think our sins will go unpunished?
And one more thing: we the people are known to be easily influenced and hoarded and as a people we are the last to wake-up. A good future means stability not better cars and TVs and games and bigger houses. It means taking care of your ENTIRE family, the American family.
Remember: united we stand divided we fall. We just got completely divided by MONEY not people. BIG,BIG MONEY. The money you hope to get to one day...keep dreaming.
I agree John...........we witnessed the arrogance of the current regime on how divided a President, and majority can be!!! Who's been railing the "class warfare" theme? Who told the Republican's "they can sit in the back of the bus and come along for the ride?" Who has "forced" through a healthcare bill with "reconciliation" against the will of the people, AND a country with the GREATEST healthcare system in the world? Who was subversively attempting to pass an economy destroying Cap & Tax bill? Who is attempting to grant amnesty to "ILLEGAL" immigrants? Who is attempting to sneakily banish guns...a constitutional right? Who is, as we speak, is secretly attempting to pass on additional taxes on hard working American's 401K's, CD's, savings, estates, properties, and other retirement accounts? Who bails out teachers, auto, and other unions with American taxpayer dollars because of over-staffed, corrupt, unions "give" their members union dues to enact an agenda instead of re-funding the pension plan? Should I continue? BOTH parties are guilty....but I'll err on the side that supports capitalism, freedom, less regulation, and LISTENS to the American people! That, at the moment, is the Republicans, and Tea Party members....and "some" JFK moderate Dems who are the TRUE representatives of a progressive "hijacked" Democratic party! The Proof is in the pudding............states like California, Nevada, and most of N.Y. STILL haven't gotten it. And they wonder why businesses are leaving, people are leaving, and they are fiscally bankrupt? LOL! At least most intelligent folks voted against the lie sent in 2008 as "hope & change", and recognized that they will have a fighting chance to keep the America that this administration has attempted to destroy! Those who STILL ignore the message from last night, you will be reminded in 2012! TODAY is a GREAT day!
the citzens of these big states depend too much on the government so they don't want change. The big states need these welfare recipients to keep them in office, they need all these government jobs in order to have a job. I am sad that California would go backward and that when they see Bill Clinton campaigning that doesn't raise a flag. Now that we have this bit Republican take over in the house lets see what they do about the socialized financial system we now have? Let's see what they do about this senseless war and bombing in Afghanistan and Pakistan to create enemies against America, let's see if they reopen the 9-11 bombing of the world trade centers. You will see that we need more change not just replacing Democrats with Republicans we have done that for over 200 years and look where that has gotten us. Let's see how much less government is put in place and how many company's bring jobs back to America, how much do you want to bet that the financial collapse gets worse?
Oh no MercyMe, you're wrong honey! John Boehner is definitely not the Anti Christ! The Anti Christ is sitting in the Oval office this morning wringing his hands...
"Hispanic woman and Indian American woman among new governors"
Huh? Nothing like focusing on and being preoccupied with what's important. What ever happened the concept of best man (or woman) for the job? I guess those ideas are out the window and NOT politically correct enough for us. Ridiculous.
1 deleted, HitEleven2 spamming their blog. Banned.
Follow the Code of Honor, folks.
...
I think one of the most interesting things about this midterm is that the GOP will probably get a new crop of star prospects out of their new governors. It's likely that a 2016 or 2020 candidate gets elected today.
Also deleted several posts below -- please stay civil!
No name calling or unproductive comments. Please stay on-topic and contribute something new to each post.
-- Steve Veres, msnbc.com editor
typical Hungarian! Veres means red, favor of the communists.
Ha -- yes. Veres is a Hungarian last name. But I've removed inflammatory or unproductive comments of all stripes.
And the name calling continues. Any post with idiot, turd, etc should be deleted. i know it's a lot of reading, but if you start bouncing them they will either go somewhere else, or straighten up.
@tyler
All best.
P.S. Anyone particular in mind?
Sanitation should be upheld every time.. not just on this topic but in all topics.. and I'd also suggest any body that calls the president of the United States idiot (A position I'm sure most of them on this forum will NEVER attain) should be deleted and banned...
America is undoubtedly turning more conservative as indicated in the national races. But much more indicative of the new direction of the country is the sweep of Republican candidates into the state seats. This huge influx of conservative candidates into these key positions have turned many blue states red and set the stage for the 2012 presidential election. Translation: Obama's in BIG trouble if he plans to run for a second term.
sveres - do you also monitor first read posts?
wizard - that is why they have primaries, remember carter??
not a socialist - let's hope that the republicans realize that they were not necessarily returned to the majority because of their beliefs but rather that the populace no longer wantedthe leaderless democrats to keep on meandering down the road.
I heard this morning on the news that one thing the republicans wanted to do is eliminate earmarks (pork). Guess I will believe it when I see it, we are talking politicians here.
Wizard #1.5: " Trouble is the GOP would have to move the newcomers in around the objections of their present set of long standing spotlight hogs."
But didn't the Democrats do just that when they "spotlighted" B.O.?"
America is in trouble.
As a Californian, I feel like it is Christmas morning and everyone is waking up to great presents but instead I got a big lump of coal in my stocking.
Brown, Newsom, Boxer, Pelosi and Feinstein. My god, now I realize why pot legalization was on the ballot and I wish it had passed. I would vote for it now. We're gonna need all the pain killing medicine we can get.
Brown and Boxer win...
This too shall pass.
THEN, perhaps. REAL CHANGE.
Why not? Because we need to overcome the "them versus us" mentality and work together.
How about, instead of calling him an "idiot", why don't you just say how he can do better WITHOUT name calling. Try constructive suggestions.
Do you have a right to name call? Yes, you certainly do. Are you setting a good example for others and especially our children, no, you are not.
Was your point made stronger by name calling? I think not. That attitude is certainly NOT going to help this country work TOGETHER and CIVILLY.
Please, quit being part of the problem.
The question about California is - Will it become the countries first "Ghost State" in the next 4 years replacing?
Welcome home Gov. Moonbeam, We've missed you!! This is why I love Calif. and I will always enjoy my ocean breezes, good weed, and vibe until the day I die!!
New California motto:
CAN'T FIX STUPID!
See .. you managed it without name calling -- mostly.
Kevin,
Given the poor return on Federal tax dollars that California receives, I have to ask the obvious question - did you vote to send Boxer back to the Senate?
@MDC- is that why Cali had to put a freeze on hours and wages & forced furloughs this year because they could not meet payroll??? Seriously- don't tell us how wonderful California is when we all see the truth in front of us- California is broken- and Brown is only going to make it worse- he did it before- he'll do it again.
But good luck with that... I'm sure you feel the same way I do- I'm glad I don't live there. It's a good place to visit- but a better place to leave.
Brian:
I'd really like to think you're right, But you can never be sure what a bunch of loonies who voted yesterday to ban Happy Meals will do!
I have one thing to say about the Governor's races......Redistricting!
Precisely. That redistricting that you speak of is the key to 2012.
Redistricting.... I don't get how that is made to seem like a legitimate thing... Don't mind us.. we're just rigging the game a little more...
But they never say from where....
Defunding the HCL will start at over $100 Bln. Next?
Did anyone listen to Jerry Brown's acceptance speech last night? Did anyone understand what he was trying to say? Aaaaaggghhh!! Flashbacks!! Psychobabble!!
I loved it when he introduced his wife as "This".
Hide your wallet. Governor Moon beam is back in town!
Cali go like mich. You are both like third world countries. Change that now and stop spending!!!
Right. If California were a country it would have the 6th largest GDP in the World. I'll take that third world country any day.
Now go shovel some snow. I'm heading to the beach tomorrow.
Don't forget your surfboard, I hear the waves will be pounding in Huntington.
Poor California. They've had their earthquake and will be falling into the Pacific any day now.
The sheeple have spoken.
Hypocrisy!
you 2 guys from california,
you are really happy with the situation you are in and the situation this governor said he will put you in?
he did promise to send everyone, documented or not, to college. that doesnt make you want to strangle him? how are the people of california going to pay for that?
really i got to know, cause the state as a whole is broke, so how are you going to send tax paying and non tax paying people to college?
what will you do?
Thought his comment:
told his supporters that what California needs over the next four years is "creativity and imagination."
sounds like "change and hope", just different words.
Good luck to you california, maybe silicon valley will bail you out. Understand steve jobs is sitting on about $500 million in cash
SPG64,
That was then...unfortunately, this is now.
With Brown's election, I imagine there will be a flurry of economic activity as companies spend money on moving vans....
Let me know how you feel about that douche after watching this...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbIC_1syrqE
ROTFLMAO!
Dude!
You are "NOT" being serious I hope!
@ Jim:
The repubs will say "Yes" to their greedy/ corrupt corporate buddies like they always do (should be no suprise by now) and speed up the process of destroying what little democracy is left in favor of a corporate theocracy. When will the American people not be so ADD and see right through this? Give it a year or 2 and people will be 3 times as angry as the teabaggers and have no one to blame again but themselves.
Mr. Paine,
The reason the administration was unable to accomplish more was due to the misuse, abuse and manipulation of the rules of the senate. Filibustering everything is not governing.
And we are the electorate, they are the elected.
Eric the clear message tonight is what I saw you can "Buy" any election in the South and Midwest but you can not "Buy" an election where people are more educated - and attuned to where they want this country to head. Reminds me of an old joke - we know who you are we are just dickering on the price.
Um, Barbara, you might want to check the map again. It is the Democrats who buy their election with their hand me down(keep you down) schemes.
Eric-1132156 said: "Tonight a CLEAR message has and is being sent to the democrats... never ASSUME that power is ABSOLUTE! ...and work in cooperation with other parties for THE GOOD of the American People...the ones who sent you to DC to start with.
Eric: Surely you jest!?
American,
It isn't that people don't want to buy American, it is that our products are just way more expensive than the imports.
Don't look for any bailouts from the rest of us.
so barbara, what you are saying is that in the 'flyover states', we're all dumb and all you smart folks live in new york or california right? the 2 states with the biggest financial problems? where are all you 'smart' people in fixing those issues? plenty of educated people out here in the masses doing good things and not running state government into the ground. not to offend your educated sensibilities, but your hope and change sucks.
I totally agree with you Donna. In another few years we will be leaving new york!
HOW? How is it possible? We have applied for out of state transfers because we feel the same way.
Maybe start a new career some where other than New York??
Totally agree. I am also someone who had to leave upsate NY because of the draining caused by NYC. Definately in trouble.
I'd throw California in that mix. They keep doing the same thing because they do not want to do the hard thing.
Donna seems not to have listened to a single word spoken by the NY Governor-elect during this election cycle. Quote your sources, idealogue!
Jamie,
"Unexperienced" thought, eh?
Thank God the lunatic extremist Paladino didn't win. Andrew Cuomo will make a great governor.
Sorry June, Andy boy is a turd just like his daddy!
Im sure they wont miss any of you lol.
Nice, Al. Very classy. Just like Paladino.
If it wasn't for Chris,Keith,Rachel it want be News!!!!!!!!!!
Now what about oh ALL of FOX? Will their lies continue?
Eric do you have inside news, Chris Matthews is going nowhere nor is Keith Olbermann or Rachel Maddow - is this a fantasy in your head or just wishful thinking so Faux News and Glen Beck can make you what a 1984 Brownie ?
If you voted for Palidino you are.
jeff in minneapolis - care to elaborate with verifiable links supporting your suppositories
GO NEW YORK! Stand your ground.
Hey now, I live in NY and I voted Republican...
Not everyone up here is a brainwashed idiot.
I feel you Belinda, because they don't know what they have done to this Country, they have Mess up Electing these Republicans. No Social Security,No Nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No entitlements, oh man you might actually have to work for your money.
suppose you physically can't work? If you get sick, die quickly? sound familiar?
Yall dont like it move. Isn't that a republicans famous quote?
You have got to be kidding me.
barbra adams - and I suppose you do your little bit by buying/using their products
liked your first paragraph only. Who owned the other 51%? the government or other investors?
WAKE UP!
God bless NY.
In spite of their bad decisions.
We could say every republican was a bad decision also. Works both ways.
Why thank you jke911 - Such a nice name and number you have. I vote Republican all the way. But hey hon, there' ll always be another election.
Rand Paul, thank you KY, a step backwards.... go China go.....
One of two things will happen. All the poor there and minorities will realize soon how screwed they are now if Paul does what he says he'll do... OR everyone who voted for him will see all the BS they were fed when he doesnt do ANYTHING he said he would do. Take your pick but rhetoric will come back to bite you.
yes it does jeff, feel the bites yet?
jeff the great seer has spoken! All hail jeff.
I don't see how Dems can be wringing their hands. Obama and his minions sought to leave our country in the red financially--we're just returning the favor.
Go Republicans! From a middle class California girl!!
Barbara is the uninformed lib who would love to tell everyone else what to do. I hate people like that.
Barbara, slow day at Acorn now that the elections are done?
CaliGirl, I'm with you....
Peace
Angela you are Right,You Hit the Right Note!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good post.
I might add, fortunately, people are more informed now, thanks to the Internet, and becoming more active in the political divisions. Some think the tea party was just a passing fancy, but just wait and see. If the Republicans don't do what they claim they will do, they will be out. The same goes for the Democrats.
Belinda,
You need to take yourself over to England and other places where they have Government run health care and see what a crappy job they do; Waiting lists to get into a hospital (don't be old, you move to the bottom of the list), decisions that life saving treatments and drugs "cost" too much, poor conditions in many of the hospitals, no chioce of Doctors or surgeons UNLESS you buy PRIVATE Insurance, the list just goes on and on.
Michele Bachman (sp?) Republican of Minnesota is one scary chick!
Joan, you should be scared after the trillions of dollars used to socialize the US.
SO LONG Nancy Pelosi!!!!!!!
Or Wanda No Name are you just mimicking the right wing blather
barbra - such nonsense on your part + inflammatory innuendos.
Seems that pelosi benefited more from the fact that the house majority were democrats. What was your excuse for the democratic controlled senate?
Pot calling the kettle black, Barbara?
If anything, you are the one mimicking the left wing socialist clap trap...
WOW...and I thought that Marines were brainwashed...

I Feel You s1wdetroit!!!!!!!!!!!!He's a God sent Man and no one can stop our President,Like it or Not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FreedomReigns - I couldn't agree with you more!!
I did, however, find it incredibly humorous that you wrote "He rains over the just and unjust alike" and misspelled "reigns" - given your name.... :)
Actually I was referring to Matthew 5:45 which says He makes His sun rise on the wicked and on the good and makes the rain fall upon the upright and wrongdoers alike. :)
Ah yes the great state of Texas. The only thing standing between Oklahoma and the bottom of the barrel. Rick Perry has dupped y'awl again.
By the way, we pay state as well as city taxes - so get your facts straight
angel - please tell us again the names of the democrats who also signed off on the trillions spent.
Please name the programs that will help fellow americans in need.
Hypernovae, i'm sorry to have to say this, but blinder then you they don't get! What in the world have you been smoking?
HEY GUYS...be my guests & get the flock outa here, we'd be better off without you LIBS!
Good old Massachusetts screwed up again.....Obama back slapper and buddy Patrick won again....what a jerk. There go the taxes even more.
USA! USA!
By the way. Kenya is Democracy friendly to the USA.
g.p.
"ab actu ad posse valet illatio"
From the past one can infer the future.
GaryL... Amen brother! :)
the citzens of these big states depend too much on the government so they don't want change. Let's see how much less government is put in place and how many company's bring jobs back to America, how much do you want to bet that the financial collapse gets worse?
pelosi is out woooohoooo!!!!!!!
And the ANTI-CHRIST is in! Like the movie - I see dead people, John Boehner only sees WHITE people!
No, Boehner sees only hard working Americans! YOU see only welfare meal tickets with that comment!
Oh no MercyMe, you're wrong honey! John Boehner is definitely not the Anti Christ! The Anti Christ is sitting in the Oval office this morning wringing his hands...
Huh? Nothing like focusing on and being preoccupied with what's important. What ever happened the concept of best man (or woman) for the job? I guess those ideas are out the window and NOT politically correct enough for us. Ridiculous.
