I must admit my intrigue with the fact that so many people, primarily from the left, can't get their minds off of Sarah Palin. As a lifelong Republican who has little or no interest in the right's social agenda (which, thankfully for the moment, seems to have taken a backseat to the economy), I appreciate Palin's efforts to deliver a conservative message but would opine that she has the proverbial snowball's chance - so why the hell can't the left get her out of its consciousness and focus on the real issues at hand?
In that she is barred from coming out from saying anthing (Clinton) on the subject, even if she could she shouldn't. This is not the time to be talking about Political ambitions in 2012 EXCEPT MAYBE, THE (gop) NEEDS TO GET SOME PEOPLE OUT THERE TO SHOW LEADERSHIP AT A NATIONAL LEVEL, AND I DON'T MEAN MS PALIN.
Both parties have to make us beleive again. If you get Dems out there talking about running in 2012 they just made Obama a lame duck, and the GOP needs to get some ( as in more then one ) showing an interest in 2012 and moving the center of attration and apparent voice of the party away from Palin.
Handgunner, your 100% RIGHT ON. The left just LOVES talking about Palin, Palin this, Palin that. She will NEVER be the republican nominee, and anyone with a half a brain knows it, leave it to MSNBC and the rest of them to keep chumming the water. She's NOT QUALIFIED to be President just as a Obama was not. Look at Obama he looks like an old man ALREADY, just 2 years into office. He's flat out over his head.
Look for another clock cleaning in 24 months, with the Dem's losing the white house, bank on it, because Obama is toast.
Handgunner - James Wolfer is just making a point that Palin while popular is not a creditable canidate for the GOP. She would get serious votes from conservatives, but would seriously alienate moderate GOP. You can like her message, but as a former lifelong Republican - she brings to mind G. W. Bush when talking with her Palinisms and has established a low bar to hurdle for breadth of knowledge. That is unfortunate for her, because she is bright and energetic...and like my rifles and 5 inch barrels... a long shot. Paul Ryan from Minnesota however is a viable candidate to rejuvenate the GOP. I am anxious to see him develop.
The left's focus on Palin is easy to understand - they wonder how anybody could think this woman's qualified for anything, and are concerned about the thought processes of the people who support her. Basically, they worry about what other nonsense Palin backers would be capable of, and would prefer to keep these people at the margins.
Why is the left fixated on Sarah Palin? She is not even in office. All of the yelling, gripping, complaining by the left just feeds her appeal to the right, which ends up putting money in her pocket.
Time for a new Political Party. Take the Political and Financial views of the Republicans along with the social and enviromental positions of the Democrats. We'll call it the "Intelligent Party"
What the hell are you people talking about? Palin is not mentioned anywhere in this story! It is you saddened libs and "fake conservatives" who are obsessed with Palin. Why don't you people try and find a way to convince a conservative/smaller government public how your extreme liberal ideas are right for America going forward and STOP focusing on someone who has NOTHING to do with the liberal/democratic community?.
Regarding Clinton ... that ship has sailed. She may wish she could bop Obama upside the head due to the '08 election but bottom line is the lustre of Pres. of the US has diminished greatly for her in light of the current mood of the American voter who has became much more educated and awakened lately.
The "LEFT" is obsessed with Palin????? BLAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that's really funny. The only people that are obsessed with Palin are the Teabagging crowd! IF Clinton had to go up against Palin, it wouldn't even be close!
I agree, the left is obviously obsessed with Palin. I think it scares them that women are figuring out the left is only the party of women when it's to the left's advantage. The left and liberals have used women to gain power all these years. She attacks their base of power.
wcritiquing, I guess since you lost the House, now you want us to forget partisenship. You sure weren't worried about it while cramming health care and other liberal policies down Americans' throats.
your laughable. Tonight my friend, you turn on Olberman, Matthews, Maddow or The Ed Show, or any political show from the big 3 or CNN and COUNT how many times her name is brought up on the air. It will be DOZENS of times, and you saying not so, will not make it not so. They LOVE talking about her, because she's an easy mark, but the nominee in 2012 will not be. They ARE OBSESSED with Sarah Palin. Your just in denial about it. And just for the record, there are plenty of us "conservatives" that think Palin is a total joke dude.
Take the Political and Financial views of the Republicans
No thanks, the fiscal views of the republicans is what caused this financial mess. Where do you think outsourcing of jobs and "tax cuts and borrowing" fiscal policies came from? This link shows where the nation's debt came from:
I agree. Look for also Jon Huntsman, fomer Utah Gov., current ambassador to China under Obama (who speaks fluent Chinese) to get in the fray also. He is a completely brillant and proggresive conservative, who's time might well be right now. Check him out, you'll like what you see. He would destroy Obama in a debate.
Minan59, your laughable. What caused this mess was W Bush picking "winners and losers" aka Lehman fails, B. Sterns survives, years of hiding Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae by Dodd / Frank to make in them the cornerstone of the housing crash, but mostly it was GREED by the citizens of this country borrowing more than they could pay back, using their homes as ATM's.
W was an idiot, and many of us knew that on the "conservative" side. W IS NOT A CONSERVATIVE, and never was. You can deny deny deny Obama's spending but the truth is HE'S OVER HIS HEAD, and he hasn't got a clue how to fix anything, and he will be GONE in 2012.
Palin would not fit the Republicans mold for president because of her radical views but they still need the TEA party radicals to elect their person. They just didn't know how radical her views were before picking her as McCain's running mate.
It's been the Republican's strategy to get the dumbest person they can get the public to vote for to become their candidate for president. That way they can control him and do as they want. Look at Reagan. He wasn't the real leader of the country because he had already become affected by Alzheimer. G W Bush president was lead around by Cheney and Rumsfeld but the old man Bush as an ex-CIA man was about as evil as they come and already under the control of "The New World Order". That's why they hated Clinton and Obama. They worked for the American people instead of special interest.
Skiddy " I agree, the left is obviously obsessed with Palin. I think it scares them that women are figuring out the left is only the party of women when it's to the left's advantage. The left and liberals have used women to gain power all these years. She attacks their base of power."
This is the type of lunacy that only the right wingers understand. She attacks nothing except the logical sensibilities of every american not stupid enough to THINK she's got any smarts about her. I support many strong women in politics, just not the stupid ones...just like I dont support the stupid men. Thats called equality...its your side pushing anything with boobs and skirt to the forefront trying to present an image that you guys actually want women in politics. But if this what you got - Sharon Angle, Palin, Michelle Bachman...yeah, im gonna call crazy when I see it. They arent smart, powerful, brave women...they are delusional and scary. PERIOD.
"wcritiquing, I guess since you lost the House, now you want us to forget partisenship. You sure weren't worried about it while cramming health care and other liberal policies down Americans' throats."
This BS has floated long enough...can you explain to me which republicans WANTED to work on health care reform and were shut out of conversations?
They stated upon his election that their mission was to make health care reform Obama's "waterloo"...we already know republicans arent interested in working FOR the american people, just for themselves and their power.
Im hopeful that in the next 2 years...this will become abudantly clear, yet again. The american people didnt vote because of health care reform, it was because of JOBS. You guys need to listen to the american people...not just your base.
Too bad. She would make a great President, and should have been our President now. She could have done a much better job than Obama - or McCain.
As for her comment' "Yeah, it's big, but it's not out of the pattern of historical political elections," I guess it depends on how far back in history you go. You would have to go back pretty far (over 60 years) to see a swing of about 130 votes in the House of Representatives.
I have to laugh at the left wing 'pundits' at msnbc who say the 'tea party' movement was a big flop, when there was a HUGE change in the House, the Republicans won one third of the Democratic Senate seats up for election, and they won almost 65% of the Governors races this year.
It doesn't look very good for the Democrats in 2012 either, when they have 23 Senate seats up for grabs vs only 11 for the Republicans.
There will be NO change in the way politics are run until we make changes in our election system. What we really need is to pass the election/campaign finance reform amendment to the US Constitution that is proposed on www.faircampaignreform.us. That amendment contains the following text:
Petition for US Constitutional Amendment For Election Reform
We, the undersigned US citizens, duly registered voters in our respective states/territories, do hereby petition for our state to approve the following amendment to the United States Constitution by the method noted below.
Election Reform:
1. Abolish the Electoral College (Repeal Amendment 12).
2. ONE NATIONAL primary date to be held on the Tuesday eight (8) weeks prior to the General Election day for Congressional offices and for the President. Candidate petitions must be filed with the local/state elections boards 60 days prior to the Primary Election date. Federal election petitions shall be uniform in every state and shall include a "contract with the voters" that spells out clearly what that candidate stands for on all issues that they may have to address in elected office. They shall be held accountable in court for breach of that contract if elected and any/all terms are not met.
3. NO campaigning allowed for any elective federal office more than 60 days prior to the National Primary Date.
4. NO campaign contribution shall be donated to any candidate of more than $200 from an individual or $500 maximum from a family (spouses/children living in the same household.) No donations shall be made to a candidate more than sixty days prior to the primary date. No candidate shall contribute from their own funds more than 60% of the total donations from other private individuals.
5. NO campaign contribution from any PAC, corporation, union, non-profit organization, special interest group, etc. shall be allowed for any elected federal office.
6. NO third party campaigning (separate PAC ads, corporate ads, etc.) for/against any candidate shall be allowed at any time during or before the election season.
7. NO party conventions shall be held to select the presidential candidates. The selection must be done at the ballot box in the primary election.
8. The One Man/One Vote Supreme Court ruling shall be enforced by this Amendment, namely thatNO federal candidate selection shall be by any means other than the ballot box on Primary/General Election Date.
9. National Party Organizations shall NOT raise money for or donate to specific candidates of their party prior to the dates outlined above.
10. PAC's shall NOT be granted tax-exempt status by the IRS, and any non-profit organization who uses their funding for political purposes shall lose their tax-exempt status.
11. All lobbyists shall be outlawed from influencing Congress at all times.
This amendment shall be approved ONLY by State Constitutional Conventions to be called within 90 days of this petition being submmitted to a state's Secretary of State. A minimum of 25% of the registered voters in each state shall be required to further this petition to the respective Secretary of State. Name Signature State Address
Such an amendment, IF we can get enough voters in 3/4 of the states to agree to it will override the SCOTUS ruling that has given the corporations this power that is at least ten times greater than the influence they already had. As to garcher's comment above re: GOP vs. Dem party expenditures, yes that is correct. What you fail to acknowledge is that the outside sources who decided to fund their own "superPAC's" instead of the GOP and its candidates spent well over four times the amount that the Dem party and their outside groups (unions and PAC's) spent. Plus, you failed to mention that according to a CNN report that I saw at the bank yesterday morning, the total spent on this Congressional campaign this year topped $4 BILLION. That figures out to over $8 MILLION per House and Senate seat that was up for grabs this year. How many favors are going to have to be paid back now by those who were elected/re-elected. That is the crime in our election system.
All you hear from the left is Palin this and Palin that. Hell, her kid can't even do a show without lefties mistaking her for her mom. It's starting to look more like an obsession. Maybe they need to see a shrink.
I actually watch FOX News, CNN and MSNBC. I watch them all and I'll bet you a dollar to a dime, the folks over on FOX talk about Palin more than any one of the people you mentioned. "You're" in denial buddy!
pS. Tyler note I have nothing offensive, but if you decide so, let me know BEFORE YOU ALLOW REPUBLICANS TO COLLAPSE MY POSt. Okey ?
Perhaps the way you use derogatory terms like teabagger is the reason why it gets collapsed? hmm? You do know what that means, right? I hit 'inflammatory' on every post with that term in it just as I do any that uses other derogatory terms. Equal rights are equal for ALL.
A few may embrace the term, but the same can be said for the "N" word along with all the b*****s and h*s terms repeated in rap music.
Minan59s quote "Progressive conservative is an oxymoron."
Again your laughable. There are TONS of "conservatives" Minan that are proggressive in many many ways, you just don't hear about us much on Olberman or Chris Matthews show. You know why? because they like to label "conservatives" and portray us like we are all "just alike", which IS TOTALLY wrong. I have no problem saying these wars suck, that gays can marry if they wish, that pot should be legal, that abortion is between a woman and her doctor and none of the damn governments business. Yet I don't like Obma giving government and union employee's bailouts, that teachers unions are pathetic and are anti child, and that making people BUY health insurance is not constitutional. We are just as diverse as your side, and you not knowing that makes you look ignorant and stuck in your own denial.
Allen....Teabagger is a derogatory term? Really? WOW! And that's coming from people that call the President of the United States a NAZI?????? You people are absolutely un-friggin-believable!!!!!!!!
JCB....Do you even know what "Progressive" or "Conservative" agendas entails? Obviously you don't because IF you did, you'd see why Minan59 said that. Then again, maybe you don't know what an oxymoron is.
MOMUS your on dude. There is NO WAY IN HELL that Olberman and Maddow don't talk about Palin more than Fox News. Fox might HAVE HER ON MORE, but they don't TALK ABOUT her more. There is a difference fool.
Imagine one Bill Maher show when the word PALIN IS NOT USED. Olberman is OBSESSED with her. Deny all you want, your just plain wrong.
The left, including the left wing media pundits, are obsessed with Palin. Every time some minor comment is made about her they start screaming hate. It's very amusing to read all the Palin hate on the blogs. It's even here when the article is about Clinton and Palin was simply mentioned.
What puzzles and still amazes me is why the left is so afraid of her? Palin has been destroyed by the left wing media blitz against her and yet she is still here which speaks volumes about her strength and fortitude. She is the female version of Ronald Reagan - they all thought he was worthless also and look how he turned out. Hillary would be a disaster - funny how that Whitewater issue was hushed up so quickly. Hmmmm. Question to ask - was Hillary treated as horribly as Sarah was? Think not.
I don’t know, I think Palin is a force to be reckoned with……she is a HELL Of a cheerleader and did a BANG UP JOB in this election. The fact she STILL has the liberal tighty whiteys in a bunch PROVES it!
JCB...You can call me what you want, but YOU must watch an awful lot of MSNBC to KNOW that they mention Palin more. Hey, you can be pretend to be a hardcore "Christo-Conservative" all you want, but you're not fooling me. You're one of those go with the flow type of people. And actually, Bill Maher (who's on HBO by the way) talks about Chrisitine O'Donell moreso than he does Silly-Sarah. Hannity and Beck talk about Palin all the time. Dude...pass me some of that what you're smoking!
my quote "I have no problem saying these wars suck, that gays can marry if they wish, that pot should be legal, that abortion is between a woman and her doctor and none of the damn governments business"
OK one for your textbook. If that was stated by a Democrat that person would be considered a "progressive", and here's one for you also ""I have no problem saying these wars suck, that gays can marry if they wish, that pot should be legal, that abortion is between a woman and her doctor and none of the damn governments business" that beind stated by a "conservative" that person would be considered a "progressive" also. Got it? or is it to tough for you?
Wtnsocal....Palin is NOTHING like Reagan. Reagan didn't quit when he his back was up against the wall! Palin is a quitter and when she doesn't get her way, she pouts like the ex-beauty pageant contestant she is. She's a dumb-ass feeding off the fear of other dumb-asses! Hell, Rush Limbaugh is probably the most intelligent "Conservative" out there. Although he lies a lot, at least he actually knows what he's lying about!
Why are we discussing Palin when the article is about Clinton?
Clinton: "I will not run.....not now, anyway.......I'll wait until Obama's approval ratings sink into the 20s....then it'll be a sure thing.....then I'll run".
MJD nailed it as far as the left's fixation on Palin. Lots of what she has said and done has been so out there that if you hadn't seen it for yourself you would have thought it was part of a comedy, but somehow in spite of it all there are folks that follow her. And some of them are scared s***less, even if they won't admit it.
NOT scared because the left could lose on some issue or bill. Scared because of the thought that it is within the realm of possibility with our currently turbulent politics that she could be elected President, the person the people of the United States selected as our Commander-in-Chief and the leader of our country. It is not funny any more, the lady is flat out dangerous.
Palin jumps to mind when discussing Clinton because the only reason we even know who Palin is is because the other side of the aisle thought she would get the Hillary vote.
I dearly wish Hillary would run. I think Obama has the best of intentions, but is too kind, tries to hard to be the mediator. Hillary has been through lots of very tough battles, is tough as nails, would be exactly the kind of leader that we need.
Even though I'm a Republican, I hope Palin doesn't even consider running in 2012. I think she would do more harm than good. They are going to have to be very particular about who runs if they want a chance. In the mean time I hope that both parties will pay attention to us and what we citizens want and not what all their greedy power hungry lobbyists want (both Dems and Repubs). I am tired of being treated like I'm one of their kids, and they know what's best for me. I'm tired of being a victim of their greed of money and power. And, I am sick of them playing us against each other like we are their pawns.
The problem is that there are over 310M concepts of what we "Americans" want. Put 100 people in the same room (or 435) and you will have 100 (or 435) different opinions of what needs to be done (but not necessarily what doesn't, thus the party of NO.) That is the "beauty" of a democratic Republic. If people can't compromise, nothing gets done. The constitution does not grant the "majority" absolute power, nor does it grant the "minority(ies)" the power to totally block anything getting done. Only the rules set by Congress (especially the Senate) allow for even a single minority person to block legislation from even getting to the floor.
Go back and read the minutes from each House and Senate committee and you will see that both parties did have a voice in the drafts of legislation. It is in the "bringing together" of committee reports and debates on the floor, then the reconciliation process that ends up often restricting the voice of the minority party. And Senate rules allow the minority to control legislation (anonymous blocks and filibustering) as much as the "majority leaders".
Of course Hillary is going to run for President of the US. She is biding her time right now, waiting for Pres. Obama to "step" down for a second term. She is Holding Her Cards Close to Her Chest. Staying in the background with no comments on anything.
Hillary is both brilliant, polished, and has been in the Political arena for decades. It does help also, her husand, the ex. Pres of the US will be there to advise her.
A seasoned Politician who could lead this country. Go Hillary.
Sarah Palin. Most fascinating woman Politican in today's Politics. She tells "it" like it is, "is". The Dems are threatened by her. She is both self confident, speaks well, and can run a campaign as shown this last time. She is a powerful woman equaling that of Hillary Clinton.
Will it be a 2 Party Woman for Pres. race in 2012?
With Bitch McConnell and John Boner at the helm it won't take long and even teabagger will realize they are getting hosed by an unconstitutional elitist ZioNazi police state. Ronald Reagan's trickle down theory is finally starting to work; I can feel it dripping down my pants leg. Nothing will change for the better until we send the corporatocracy plutocrats and their maximize profit bottom line sociopaths to China where they belong. Obama turned out to be a ZioNazi shill just like Dubbya was. The only thing they can figure out to do is sell weapons to our enemies to instigate war and provide citizens with sickness and death for profit corporate health care. Wake up teabaggers, bitch and boner are not conservatives and far from being libertarians like Ron Paul the only republican that is not a corporate ZioNazi war criminal guilty of treason.
"I must admit my intrigue with the fact that so many people, primarily from the left, can't get their minds off of Sarah Palin."
Good point. I can't speak for everyone, but for me it's sort of like a train wreck. I don't like train wrecks, but when they happen (and then never seem to fade from media coverage) I find them, well, remarkable. So I remark on them. Nothing more or less than that. Same with Christine O'Donnell. Even after the election I still can't believe that 40% of Delaware's voters thought she'd represent them well. I'm sure I'll get over it in time, though, and stop remarking and responding to remarks about her, too. :)
Good post. I think they'll all start listening to both sides more if we stop shooting at each other and start engaging more in healthy debates instead of incendiary firefights. As long as we here (left and right) are at war, they have no reason to take us seriously.
Why is everyone talkin Palin. This story is about Hillary!! Besides you can't believe a word she says. She promised new york that if elected to be their senator she would NOT run for President. What did she do 2 years later??? RAN FOR PRESIDENT!! She is a completely useless LIAR!!!
Wow, At Liberty, Bitch and Boner...how hilarious! I can't stop laughing at your sophisticated wit. Did your friends on the sixth grade playground help you think of these really clever nicknames?
Obsessed with Sarah Palin? It's not only the left. I'm a middle ground person who could care less about her, or if I never heard her name again.
The media is obsessed, ALL of them! MSNBC, CNN, and FOX too! I try and not listen too long to any of the trash from any of the above mentioned propaganda channels, but somehow, her name comes up too often on all of them. It's funny that the right say the left is obsessed more, didn't FOX hire her?
Each and every one of them keeps her name in the headlines somehow, I wish they all would just stop. I've got nothing against a woman running this country, but she'd be close to my last choice.
Hmm... I'm an American and I don't feel like healthcare was crammed down my throat. I welcome the changes it brings. Using terms like 'Americans' to make it sound like you are speaking for the entire populace isn't quite accurate in my mind.
I love the pages and pages of commentary on how the left is notobsessed with Palin. Why are so many people compelled to comment? I also love the way the commentary is always about how stupid she is, but nobody ever challenges her ideas. The obsession is with the person of Palin, not anything she says or does. I don't think Palin will run for president. I do think she will, and should, keep pointing out who the "corrupt bastards" are. And, I think it's great that all the lefties will chime in about how stupid she is, instead of doing something about the "corrupt bastards." One thing I'd say about Palin, she is free to say exactly what she thinks, and call a corrupt bastard a corrupt bastard, and I find it refreshing.
The Whitewater issue was not hushed up. It was investigated so completely that it became nothing short of a witch hunt. Kenneth Star widened the investigation so much that it became a history of Bill Clinton's penis. It was determined that there was no wrong doing (not including the penis part) and that the Clintons were simply passive investors in a real estate project that failed, and they lost money on it. Do you remember that part or have you conveniently chosen to forget it?
That's pretty funny...most of the Palin-centric posts in this thread are from the right asking why the left is so "fixated" on her! Seems to me it's the right fixated on calling the left fixated! This article isn't even about her!
Now, on the actual subject of this article...Hillary can make all the claims about not running, but when the time comes -- which is not now, the election is two years away -- if Obama's popularity (and his backbone) continues to slide then she may well announce that she is running. On the other hand, if the economy starts showing real signs of recovery like adding many jobs in the next two years despite the Republican house, Obama's stock will rise along wiuth his re-election chances. In that case, Hillary should run in '16.
She'd have more of a likelihood of calling a spade a spade and telling the loudmouthed Republicans like Mitch McConnell exactly where they can put their dissent and negativity, instead of showing zero conviction like, sadly, Obama has done for the past two years. Obama was elected on the promise of "change", but he's allowed the Republicans to dictate to him by their unanimous position of "NO!" and failed to deliver, aside from a weak health care bill that came up short of what progressives wanted to see. Which reminds me...isn't the opposite of progressive regressive? Do we really want to regress?
Will it be a 2 Party Woman for Pres. race in 2012?
Can't resist...uh, no. I don't think even the Republicans would be dumb enough to nominate Palin!
Voters should not concern theirselves with Sarah Palin, she's brings more entertainment value to the table than leadership.
Regarding Hillary Clinton, although I did not support her during the last presidential election, I do feel she is an incredibly intelligent and strong woman who has all the qualities to be president. My only criticism with her is her relationship with Bill. It's a bit of a paradox really, her greatest ally is also, indirectly, her greatest enemy. If she was president, her presence and influence would be overshadowed by her husband's notoriety, both here and abroad.
You heard it here first, Obama dumps Biden from tie ticket and adds Feingold in 1012. Bank on it, especially with this presidents propensity to encourage candidates to drop out. Biden is serious baggage and will be jettisoned. The bottom line is, it won't help, Obama loses to the conservative candidate to be named later.
People need to stop with the ten-year-old mentality of name calling. 'Teabaggers', 'liberal whackos', 'repukes' ... I mean, come on, people. Grow up already.
If you have legitimate arguments, state them. If not, or if you know little about the party you're referring to, you tend to rely on those fourth-grade bully tactics.
Make an argument. Stick with it. Read and understand other points of view. Then, maybe ... just maybe ... we can move this country where it needs to go. Back to being a leader, innovator, and place where dreams are possible. As long as you're willing to work for it.
I am a life-long, die hard conservative Republican. However, I've got say, Hillary is an extremely bright woman whom I believe would have done better than Obama in the white house. It would be nice to have her as an option on the 2012 ticket.
You are absolutely correct. There is not a snowball's chance in hell that the Republicans, including Sarah Palin, will be able to effect certain social changes, particularly abortion.
I keep reminding everyone that the US Supreme Court would have to overturn its own decision on abortion and the last time this Court did that was before I was born, in 1954, with Brown v Board of Education which overturned the 1896 decision in Plessy v Ferguson. It's not going to happen everybody so freaking relax already.
The liberals who can not handle Sarah Palin are just making it that much easier for her to gain a seat of power due to the law of attraction. If they ignored her, they would not give her any power, but they do not ignore her.
Not to mention, do you realize how many candidates she endorsed THAT WON? Many analysts on the Tiffany News Network (aka CBS Radio News) are finally telling the naysayers off by making the point that people like Sarah Palin. That is why she is on the news all the time and has her own tv show.
I like Sarah Palin. I don't agree with her entire agenda but that is true of all agendas.
I am a life-long, die hard conservative Republican. However, I've got say, Hillary is an extremely bright woman whom I believe would have done better than Obama in the white house. It would be nice to have her as an option on the 2012 ticket.
I could not agree with you more. I campaigned for her and would have voted for her in the last Presidential election.
I did not vote for Obama. Since Hillary was out of the race, I voted for McCain.
I always knews that Obama was a socialist liberal who was out to change the way we govern. It's too bad that most people did not realize that.
But I also knew that the Democrat would win because everyone hated Bush Jr. so much, including me. Reminded me of the time Jimmy Carter got into office. Everyone hated Nixon so bad.
Jimmy Carter was a one-term President just as Obama will be.
Good post. I think they'll all start listening to both sides more if we stop shooting at each other and start engaging more in healthy debates instead of incendiary firefights. As long as we here (left and right) are at war, they have no reason to take us seriously.
Thanks Jack. I'll admit, I will express my views. I can be just as irate and bashing as anybody on here, but it doesn't make it right, nor does it get any of us anywhere. I guess it's good that we can vent to each other. It may save the spouses a bit of a headache in some cases. lol I know we all agree on one thing and that is we don't was to lose our freedoms.
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton has again slapped down speculation that she harbors ambitions for another presidential run.
Yep, this MODERN Progressive (her own words) will not consider a bid for the Presidential election in 2012 right now (too political for this Administration), because the Bilderberg Group has not met secretly on this issue yet. Maybe Pelosi will be considered during the meeting.
Doesn't matter who is going to be on the Progressive Democratic ticket... they will lose.
The Left are screaming that the President has not gone far LEFT enough. Well, if the Secretary "considers" running, then they will have the Prime Candidate to move the United States Ultra Left of EU.
Time for the Secretary and Pelosi to "retire" from politics.
Clintons are the @!$%#!!!!!! Bill would be elected again in a minute if given the chance. Hilliary is more successful in a year than most of you haters could be in your lifetime. Hillary would destroy Palin!!!! HAHAHA. At least Clinton finishes out the terms that they were elected to do!!!
It is the media that is manipulating the obsession with Sarah Palin. The corporate media far right machine is cramming her down our throats at every turn, and the few left leaning media shows are amazed and horrified that the right would even consider promoting someone like her to run the country. The only section of the public that is obsessed with her is the Teabaglicans who think she is wonder-woman, and the rest of us would just as soon she went back to Alaska and raised her kids.
For a "do-nothing" president and Congress, I'd say they managed to get a lot done in the first 21 months of this administration.....more than any previous administration. Of course the rightwing will see this all as socialist/communist and even throw in Nazi, etc., but here is the list from CBS 10/18/10 (actually from an AP story posted on cbsnews.com:
Congress passed an $814 billion economic stimulus package soon after President Barack Obama took office, tapping a staggering sum of money to avoid a full-blown depression. Democrats have trumpeted the gains from that effort, but know it's not enough for restive voters. "Americans still see themselves in a ditch," said House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer.
The two other landmark acts of this session were the health care overhaul, a giant step toward universal coverage that had eluded presidents back to Franklin Roosevelt if not Teddy Roosevelt, and the Wall Street accountability act.
Obama has also signed into law at least a dozen other pieces of legislation of significance. They include:
Making college loans more affordable.
The Cash for Clunkers program that helped rejuvenate the auto industry.
New consumer protections for credit card users.
Making it easier for women to challenge pay discrimination.
Increasing federal regulation of tobacco products.
Cracking down on waste in Pentagon weapons acquisition.
Making attacks based on sexual orientation a federal hate crime.
Giving businesses tax incentives to hire unemployed workers.
Tax credits for first-time homeowners.
And on election day, read this post of what had been accomplished:
Too many people voted out of anger and frustration over the job market instead out of careful consideration of all issues involved and candidates actual positions on those issued. One liners are always great for pulling the wool over a person's eyes, but you pay the price later for letting it happen. Educate yourselves on the issues as well as the candidates and their positions before you vote. Ask every candidate for a detailed plan of how they will solve the pressing problems facing this nation and the world. We've seen what the Democrats wanted and still want to do to "fix" America. The GOP just keep giving us platitudes and books filled with empty pages. Lower taxes, cut spending, etc. But exactly where will you cut spending? How are you going to pay for the deficit increases from those tax cuts? How are you going to balance the budget and reduce the debt while we are still engaged in 2 wars plus other armed skirmishes throughout the world? We haven't paid for either of those wars, only borrowed more and more money for them and gone deeper in debt for them. Bush never included them in his budget. At least Obama has done that so that the budget reflects our total expenditures. That is a major change from the previous administration, and a good one leading to more transparency.
Oops, I missed a couple of grammatical mistakes....."candidates(') actual positions on those issues (not issued). Sorry folks. I usually try to catch those mistakes along with typos and spelling. There are some things that spellcheck just doesn't catch.

I wouldn't worry about having your posts collapsed "wcritiquing".
Nobody knows what you're babbling about.

oh thank goodness -
I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one who couldn't decipher jabberwocky ;-)
As to Hillary running for President in 2012 . . . NAY - for better or worse she & Bill are TEAM players. You can actually THANK PELOSI for intimidating & strong arming HER little SUPER DELEGATES in the House into supporting Senator Obama (and assuring his nomination). Pelosi simply could NOT abide the thought of ANOTHER woman even "more powerful" than herself!! (in case ya hadn't noticed). Besides she knew she couldn't CONTROL Hillary . . . AND Pelosi STILL hates Bill for being too MODERATE of a President.
Jack-2015672
All you hear from the left is Palin this and Palin that. Hell, her kid can't even do a show without lefties mistaking her for her mom. It's starting to look more like an obsession. Maybe they need to see a shrink.
#1.25 - Fri Nov 5, 2010
No doubt the CharterMembers of the HillaryHaters AnonymousClubs can recommend an excellent head doc lolol
No matter what "Hillary SAYS she is or is NOT going to do...
I can BET your house that Hillary challenges Obama in 2012... because the country NEEDS her or some other political one liner?
Palin? For a woman who people say is "complete joke" those geniuses are absolutely OBSESSED with her... OBSESSION truly describes the attitude of those on the left... from the day she appeared on the scene.
Palin, like her or not, becomes stronger and stronger and stronger every day... as Obama becomes weaker and weaker and weaker every day.
Obama is about as popular as Cancer, Leprosy and AIDS combined. His FORMER supporters are HIDING and RUNNING from him like RATS from a "burning building?"
Obama is over... cooked... toast... done!
The ONLY chance of "rescuing the presidency for the Democrats in 2012 is Hillary.
There are even rumors about Obama NOT seeking a second term?
We'll see... but HOLD any opinions about Hillary until after the Democrat primary.
Hillary's OBSESSION is "to be the FIRST female President... it always was..." so just keep watching her... guaranteed to SURPRISE!
What was it about I said that would prompt you to label it as sexist. I find Hillary to be an extremely capable politician, but her marriage to a former President who is extremely popular here and overseas, presents a challenge. I truly believe that she will be marginalized by Bill...If you think her influence would not be compromised due to him, then you are more naive than I would have thought.
Have the journalists become beggars? Is that all they attempt to do these days is beg for a story?
"Please Hillary! At least say something so that we can at least say you were going to run for office! PLEASE!!!!!"
I sure if she said she had to go to the bathrooom, they would snake their way up through the toilet to get a shot of her rectum. And yes, media sensationalism has become that perverse and twisted.
The media is not saying much these days, but don't let this failure of a story stop you from running on YELLOW.
It's the liberal media looking for hope. Things do not look too good for them and their agenda right now and they wonder if Obama is on the skids completely. Don't worry though, the conservative side is pestering Palin, Cuomo, Huckaby, Pawlenty, plus a few others on their aspirations.
Jeremy, young and fine gentlemen. I going to ask you to stop your bulling ( I know is very hard for you Republican to not use it, I understand perfectly is one of your basic ).
Don't you DARE TO HIJACK THE PEOPLE'S MESSAGE : Jobs.
We don't support teabaggers agenda, neither republicans agenda nor democrats agenda.
So, again young men. There is not much to talk. We will talk after you and your cronnies turn unemployment around.
Leave this blog, go and look for the manners your mother teach-taugh you ( Im sure , she is a sweet, educate lady.....just happen that you forget about her when you talk about politycians ). when you are willing to be made your points respectufully WE CAN HAVE A CHAT.
Ps. Again TYler. If you find something offensive in my post. Let me know, before you allow republicans to collapse my comment. Thank you in advance. And God bless you.
Paul Ryan from Minnesota however is a viable candidate to rejuvenate the GOP.
I wish he was from Minnesota. Instead he is my worthless representative who voted for the Wall Street bailouts twice. He is just another bought and paid corporate politician. By the way he is from Wisconsin.
Oh honestly people, really. Can you imagine the foreign journalist who has a one-on-one interview with the secretary of state, the same week as the mid-term elections, NOT asking her about her political ambitions?? Really, can you come up with anything besides this tired old bashing the media??
I'm confused...... Your offended by my joke of Hillary's picture but not the fact the original post mentioned it in the first place.
wcritiquing, I'm not sure what country your from, your age, or maybe your reading/writing ability. Maybe you are legitimatly handicapped. If so, I apologize in advance. But it's obvious something is wrong. It looks as if your not from around here and maybe new at this "english" thing.
I voted for candidates that did not hold an office at the time of the elections. I didn't simply check the (R) box. I looked at veiwpoints and aligned myself with those that were closest to mine(notice I said closest, noone thinks like me). I voted for someone from every party Tuesday, regardless of affiliation, color/race, or sex. Apparently the majority of citizens did the same. Here's your problem(the problem, not really your's), people think their party hung the moon. After awhile they get a glazed look and their eyes and the "kid in a candy store" look on their faces when their candidates tell them anything. Doesn't matter if it's right or wrong. Their guy said it so it must be right. Right? If it comes from someone else's mouth it's a lie. Right? Noone will ever have the same opinions, that would be too easy. I could go on and on but it would be useless.
So, the Hillary comment was made because she's an easy target. Not that I would ever vote for her.... I joke about hubby Bill but still think he was a pretty good president.
I find it odd the media insisted on using a differential name for W and H, but not the Clintons. I clicked on this story thinking it was some weird journalist's idea that Bill Clinton could run again.
Hillary lost too many potential voters with the partisan bickering, outrageous ways of "announcing" to foreign media that they were going to sue AZ, calling the N. Korea and Iran leaders children, etc. She may be getting old but her maturity is still pretty low as well as her lack of tact.
Hillary can't say anything now. She is still working for Obama as Secretary of State--it would be very inappropriate to go over her "Boss", and the Leader of the Free World.
Ps. Again TYler. If you find something offensive in my post. Let me know, before you allow republicans to collapse my comment. Thank you in advance. And God bless you.
That's not how it works. The community can collapse your comments, then i show up and review them, wcritiquing.
In this case, not restoring 2.3, because it violates the first rule here:
There we the same ones who where talking about Polls and Teabagger/Republican Tsunami. And look what happen. There is a gridlock. That made me laught.
Despite what people may tell you about Tea Party voters, many of us voted the way we did to end the 1 party rule. "Gridlock" only occurs when nothing but bad bills are proposed that they can't even find a majority to vote in favor of. Once bills start coming out that aren't for an extreme agenda one way or the other, then we'll see which party is being obstructionists.
Louis J. Spending money the US doesn't have: 15,000,000,000,000 dollars,, and bankrupting the Federal Reserve is no way to run a country, either. Corporations are not responsible for the welfare and lives of America.
Hopefully Hillary will make up a better budget, find better Finanical Advisors, get the Deficit down so Americans and future Generations can live a good life, if she decides to run and is elected,.
We won't be voting in another Democrat anytime soon. ALL they want to do is spend money we don't have, pass a health care plan we don't want, need, nor can afford and then tax us more to pay for it. And, lets hope the GOP brings somebody forward other than Palin. One term and out for Mr. Obama and HIS change.
Funny that sounds like republicans to me. Maybe you if you turned off Faux news and did a little research on your own you could base your opinions on reality.
Amen, Minan, amen. Short term memory is often a problem.....
Of course it would have been better to allow GM and Chrysler to fail adding 2-3M to the unemployment rolls, allow the entire banking system tank making business above the 5 n' Dime level impossible, keep 30M citizens without health care and tell 'em "Don't get sick....", allow the financial system to remain totally unregulated so that recession/depression could be a perpetual reality......
Ah, so Minan, you got this information from a liberal organization (Citizens for Tax Justice) that specializes in tax issues? They are your reliable source? There's this bridge in New York that's for sale if you're interested.
People need to get back to work. Industry needs to be here, in the form of non-union of course. When people work and get paid(and prioritize), things can be afforded, like healthcare. Some things do need to be changed, but people don't need "reform" rammed down their throats. Sure the auto makers shouldn't have been bailed out. They should have made cuts to stay afloat. Like dropping unions and getting labor prices back in line, stop making 20 different models of cars with recalls, make 5 or so and make them real damn good. Let the banks crash. Maybe executives will start jumping out of windows like in the first depression. This has become a country of entitlements. Everyone wants, wants, wants, but noone wants to work hard enough to get it. I think a "crash" would wake everyone up and make them realize what they got and what it takes to get it. So many have forgotten that.
Well speak for yourself.
YOU may want to stick with "good luck with that" health care--but a large portion of the American public does not. What we can't afford is that kind of ignorance. (and just wait until the Republicans have to answer actual questions...like which part of health care you want changed back again...the part where insurers can get rid of you as soon as they find out you're sick? The part where they can put a cap on your insurance as soon as you get sick? Or the part where they get to say who gets the drug coverage and who doesn/t.?) should be a very interesting year.
Hey Jersey, your beloved Bill signed the bill (no pun intended) that allowed financial institutions to make risky investments. And the Republicans in Congress were part of the screw job that resulted in this mess. So don't pretend all parties are not guilty. It was a screw job by the ENTIRE U.S. political machine. And no vasaline.
AP-1414066, something needs to be done to healthcare too. But I don't see it as being first on the list. People need to work and get paid. Healthcare expense, foreclosures, and most other problems will solve themselves when money starts flowing back into households.
wcritiquing.... Here we go again..... "Funny you are complaing about Health Care Reform but YOU DIDN'T OPPOSE IT WHEN REPUBLICANS RAM TWO WARS DOWN IN OUR THROATS."... I don't approve of the war(s). Never have. Bring 'em home and start cleaning this country up.
wcritiquing- Why is it that you say the republicans "ram two wars down our throats"? First off, check your grammer. Second, what would you have done? You hold in your hand a report that unequivocally states that Iraq possesses a certain quantity of WMD and also has demonstrated a willingness to use them in several instances. Add to that intelligence that iraq demonstrates a willingness and intent to sell these weapons to rogue states or radical groups that are sworn to destroy Isreal and/or the US. You have just been attacked at home on American soil by these groups?
Put yourself in GW's shoes for one minute before you flap your gums. Flawed intelligence or not. Oh and the recent finds of WMD supplies in Iraq...
Don't forget Hussain was a brilliant commodity trader, I'm sure he couldn't have possibly unloaded his supplies or even had them destroyed.....
In 30 years, you will look back and see this differently. That's a promise.
I disagree. I think the next president will be Democrat, but it won't be Obama. The gridlock over the next two years is going to have an affect on his presidency. But, voters are going to be p*ssed at the Republicans because they won't accomplish anything.
Funny you are complaing about Health Care Reform but YOU DIDN'T OPPOSE IT WHEN REPUBLICANS RAM TWO WARS DOWN IN OUR THROATS.
You know Iraq have nothing to do with 9/11 ( SAudi Arabia ), Don't you ?
You do realize Afghanistan wasn't a war crammed down anyones throat, right? And you do realize that an Iraq invasion had been called for by the Democrats since the days of Bush Sr, right? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i87cZ3Og6ts
I'm sick and tired of the left demeaning victims of 9/11 and ignoring the fact the Democrats wanted to go into Iraq long before G.W. Bush and voted for it.
Nobody on the right likes war either. Someone had to wear the pants and take ownership & responsibility for the war after the Democrats did a 180 "I voted for it before I voted against it" cop-out. That kind of irresponsibility is the kind of thing that gets soldiers killed. Partisan bickering on budgets to get our sons & daughters body armor and proper equipment is sickening.
Allen, they are democrats that have memories about as long as their.... control of congress. They spin like tops to their base who wouldn't think of questioning them. Obama is amazed the American people can think, he's used to being a community organizer who tells people what to do and how to think.
Jeremy: the "something needs to be done but not now" mantra about healthcare led to the status quo for over 25 years--so I disagree that it shouldn't have been done. It also makes sense if you consider what runaway health care costs do to the economy.
Secondly, look where we are now. Every president loses seats of the ruling party during mid-terms so big initiatives cannot wait--You don't do the tough stuff easily or by waiting until it gets easier. it doesn't.
AP-1414066, but you got to agree, if people were back to work and money was flowing, most things would work themselves out. I feel Obamacare was shoved at me without a choice. Noone ever called me, or mailed me a questionaire, asking my opinion on what I thought would work. Two thousand and some odd pages(or more), how many it ever is, chocked full of "pork". I could fix healthcare in probably 200 pages. "They" say the devils in the details. Well, there was an urgency to push this through and sort out the details later. This(our system) is considered a democracy, put together something we can all understand and let us vote on it.
Democratic Republic.......there's a difference. We elect officials to represent us. We don't usually get to vote on stuff ourselves. You think its a mess now? Can you imagine crackpot whack job getting to vote on every issue?
"Can you imagine crackpot whack job getting to vote on every issue?". Wouldn't be a lot different than now would it?(Joke). At least it would be the true voice of the people. Something needs to be done to the "system" before it self destructs. I don't know if the GOP can do it. But what the hell.... Can't get any worse.... Can it?
Of course it would have been better to allow GM and Chrysler to fail adding 2-3M to the unemployment rolls, allow the entire banking system tank making business above the 5 n' Dime level impossible, keep 30M citizens without health care and tell 'em "Don't get sick....", allow the financial system to remain totally unregulated so that recession/depression could be a perpetual reality......
Maybe GM and Chrysler would have gone into bankruptcy reorganized and ridded themselves of uncompetitive contracts and emerged from bankruptcy able to compete and survive; however, we won't ever know if that would have been the case because the government stepped in and threw taxpayers money at them instead of letting the process work. One issue that may not be settled is the precedent of not honoring the position of the secured bond holders; it's likely that may be a matter for the courts to decide, and, if the government losses, that could increase the cost of the auto bailout by millions more.
The banking system wouldn't have tanked. The insured depositors would have been paid off by the FDIC (the FDIC insurance fund would not have run out since the FDIC has the authority to assess the remaining banks to raise additional deposit insurance if needed); the good loans and sound assets would have been bought by other banks and investors; the uninsured depositors and unsecured creditors would have incurred losses and the stockholders would have been wiped out, which is as it should be since just as they reap the rewards from owning a company's stock, they suffer total loss if the company fails. However, once again taxpayer dollars were used to prevent process from occurring.
Perhaps we'll now get to see if there is a way to cover the uninsured who are in this country legally without destroying the quality of the most innovative health care system the world has ever known. 20-30 million uninsured, 170-200 million insured, and the action taken jeopardizes the health care of the 170-200 million to placate the 20-30 million. Seems just a bit ass-backwards.
Lack of regulations didn't cause the financial meltdown; a total lack of oversight did. The volume of financial regulations that were at that time in place were such that, if a 25 year old began reading them and read 8 hours a day for 5 days a week, that 25 year old would be an old man before he read all of those financial regulations. If the regulations that were then on the books had been enforced, the trillions of dollars of worthless mortgage loans that were made and eventually caused the meltdown when the mortgage backed securities and derivatives they were collateralizing defaulted and rendered those financial instruments worhtless resulting in the holders of those financial instruments to be wiped out would have been greatly limited as would the losses that resulted.
And all the Republicans want to do is get Obama out of office. How is THAT going to help ME over the next 2 years? It's NOT. They care more about that than helping the little people. They will accomplish NOTHING over the next two years and say it's not their fault. I won't be voting for them any time soon.
Much of the present situation would not have as much anger involved if Hillary Clinton had won the election two years ago.
I speak for the political correctness and racial tension factors which have escalated over these two years. I am not a young person, so I've seen racial tension where there formerly was none for many, and it has evolved from the ''in your face, folks'' attitude flowing from the White House and downward, not the reverse.
America elected a PERSON who was INEXPERIENCED and his decisions, especially those of the people around him, have been not only awkward, but ridiculous. I found it especially interesting when seeing him on television telling the crowds to ''MAIL IN YOUR VOTE TODAY, DON'T WAIT, SEND IT TODAY''.
Now THAT is a seasoned community organizer, NOT a Presidential figure to admire.
So if she was elected and issuing the same mandates and policies, things would be less hostile? And this is coming from a conservative that uses racial tension in the same statement... man that's truly rich.
The only thing that I can take away from this comment is that some people are
a) really, truly misguided
b) very truthful in their arrogance and ignorance
c) very truthful in their immoral stance
d) do not care who knows they are racist as a result from all the above
What a progressive anti american democrat! The Obama admin and the progressivies have done everything they can to promote racism and class warfare to (try) to conquore and divide. The race card has been so overplayed and the afro american community have been the largest growing sector of the republican/ tea party!
The real raciest are the progressivies/ socialist that want everyone to be a slave of the government! Tell you where to work, what car to buy what you can eat. They would like us to be the prefect utopia where everybody is equal from the doctor to the garbage man. Unless you are in government then you get excused from the rules the rest of the population has to go by. Just like Mother Russia!!! Please if you like this system so much just go to where they have it!!
Nonsense upon nonsense. (and I take it you'll give back your social security check when it comes right?? so that you won't be a "slave to government". Ditto with that unemployment check of course...any road projects in your area...on and on. what a joke.)
So-so Security is taking from us under the impression we'll get it back one day. At the rate everyone is raiding the "cookie jar", my hopes are dwindling. "Privatization" could be the best thing for S.S. . Same goes for unemployment. I pay fuel taxes, city, county, state, and federal, also under the impression I'll get them back in the form of safe roads to drive on. If they can't provide this stuff.... Stop taking it out of my pockets.
Dakota, get lost with your race card. Believe it or not, Obama would not be president if white people had not voted for him. Flyer is correct. Obama is treating the American voters like community rebel activists. He works mainly on getting his supporters behind his ideas, rather than gettng his ideas supported by Americans.
(and I take it you'll give back your social security check when it comes right?? so that you won't be a "slave to government".
Let me have the option of taking that same $$ that was being deducted from my paycheck and put it into a real retirement fund that politicians don't have access to and you can bet your butt I will give up that option.
any road projects in your area
Yes, and those are state funded with state taxes. Texas has some of the best roads anywhere and doesn't even have a state income tax.
"Texas has some of the best roads anywhere....". Got to at the speeds they drive. Not complaining at all. I think everyone should be sent to Texas to take driving lessons.
Most comments here do not stay "on point." The media does not report the news; rather, they make news just to stay ahead of other networks, newspapers, etc. As for a female President in the United States, as Mrs. Clinton states, i can see no reason why a woman would not be effective as President. A "TV star," like Palin does not have the political knowledge to obtain this post. However, both parties do have women that are capable of the presedential position and should be considered strongly. For me, 2012 will show Obama for the Democrats; and, the Republicans will possibly try to coax Governor Rick Perry of Texas as their candidate. Further, the American consumer will bring back jobs by slowly spending a bit more that will infuse the economy. Don't always believe those "white tower economists" beliefs; since they have little exposure to the Americian public when they make in the 6 figures(or more) just to spout their predictions to any media that will listen to them.
I'm wondering. If she has to stay politically neutral in her current position, can she announce her candidacy without resigning that position? We should look for a resignation sometime this year maybe.
I am not a young person, so I've seen racial tension where there formerly was none for many
Well, since you bring it up...I am not a young person either. And I'm sorry that you can't see very well, but it was obvious from the beginning that this president was going to bring out the worst racism this country has been sweeping under the rug of PC for some time now. It is alive and well, and Jimmy Carter was spot on when he pointed it out last year.
The best indicator is the extreme sensitivity of Obama's detractors to what they term the "race card." They bring up the subject of race about ten times as often as Obama's defenders, and almost always using reverse racism and the "race card" canard as their excuse.
It is very basic psychology: the harshest critics are looking in the mirror. The same phenomenon that was described 2000 years ago as a parable of a mote and a beam. Call it defensiveness, call it preemptive strike propaganda, whatever. It's all the same thing, a basic part of human nature and the xenophobia that we are all saddled with to some extent. But some of us have learned to deal with it; some try to control it; and some embrace it.
I've seen race relations develop all through the '50s and '60s and onward in this country, from the heartland and from the coast. You are not fooling me. You might be fooling yourself, but you are not fooling me.
We've had enough of Obama! He was DEAF to the problems of the people (jobs, economy, deficit, etc.) preferring to "make history" with Obamacare - shoving it down our throats over our objections merely to feed his enormous pride! Well..... we voted him in -- and we WILL VOTE HIM OUT!
You obviously didn't vote him in. And the white males who voted overwhelmingly at the mid-terms aren't going to be responsible for voting him out. But nice try.
AP, you might just want to read some of the post on here. I've seen many of Dems & Indeps. say already they will not vote for Mr. Obama again. It's not that he is black and just because many want that to be so, it's not. It was his arrogance towards the American people in what they wanted to see as change.
The health-care should have been looked at in the rising cost for things. Is the health industries ripping off the American people with inflating the cost way out of proportion. Is the doctors and hospital doing test that aren't necessary for more billable monies, are they charging the system so much that it continually breaks down to where the average person can not afford it. Is the Rick Scotts of the world allowing places to over charge the American welfare system for almost a billion dollars w/o repercussions, this was our tax money that they stole and yet not one was prosecuted for it?
First and foremost he should have worked on the job market, then when the repubs refuse to work with him the voters could have seen where their logic is coming from. I do not have much respect for any of them, as, all of them were in office when all of this happened to America. We as Americans better keepwatch or the dogs will get out of their cages and end up eating their masters.
Futhermore, where is all the criminals whom damn near brought American to her knees? Why aren't they being prosecuted like anyone of us would be if we commited such an act of embezzelment. Then the banks OH yeah who can forget about these arrogant arses, they recieve our tax money for bailouts and reward their CEO's with large bonuses. While we simple minded Americans were being thrown out of our homes with the crisis they created, wow whom will get in trouble for this? No-one would be my better guess it's the double standard we have grown to accept by our so called politicians. When will it stop you would wonder, it will when the people really have had enough!
No I really don't think she has the esteem for it now, but it would have been something else too see if she had won the election. I really don't believe any of them could have done it alone and just maybe the whole lot of them. This was not a little mishap Obama was facing and created by the whole government. Everyone was spending past their means and didn't show any signs of slowing down. Just that the average person can't afford the down turn like all of those whose incomes wasn't effected by this excursion.
2 years is a long time. when the GOP's beloved reagan lost his midterm and unemployment was at 10 % no one was going to vote for him. look what happened. 1st the GOP has nobody to run. they are all wannabe's. 2nd when they can't get anything passed because of the tea party obama will use that just like truman and the pendulum will swing. nobody in congress is safe now. the dems will take back control of everything because the people will lose what little trust they had. this election was a knee jerk reaction. they felt the dems didn't get jobs so they went republican. when they see that all they have is tax cut's and jobs don't come back quickly they will be out. if the bush tax cut's work so well then why did the economy crash? and why hasn't it come back while the tax cut's are still there? answer........they don't work. oh and by the way. for all of you who want the stimulus stopped.......you all got an $ 800.00 tax cut.........the largest in history. put that in your pipe and smoke it.
Good news, she blew her credibility when she claimed to have come under sniper fire in Bosnia. It is about time the democrats quit running DINOs for president.
I'm neither REP nor DEM but I know that if Mrs Clinton ran for the whitehouse, I would vote for her with out a dought, I mean think of the history behind it all, I know that is not why you vote for someone but we have our first black president and then the next would be to have a ladie. I would love to be alive to see the both of them happen. But setting aside history, they would have to give me a good reason to vote for them.
Agreed....., really smart, savvy, experienced and I think she may almost have zero "baggage" compared to anyone else out there and some of which are not electable....they just don't know it yet.
Sorry but Condi has NO hutzpah....zippo! She's about as exciting as watching paint dry on the wall. I'm no fan of Palin but she can bring a crowd in (for a hefty fee mind you) and is leading everybody else in GOP candidate polls for 2012 and if the GOP needs someone to win...why wouldn't they consider her?
btw...I don't think the left is obsessed w/ Palin so much as the media keeps forcing her down our throats. Personally, I wish her and her family would quit thrusting themselves into the media spotlight...
Hell.....just about everybody in America has either been shot at or was in close proximity of someone or something being shot at in their life time......what's the bid deal? Damn near everybody's got a gun! HILLARY FOR PRESIDENT IN 2012! Just keep Bill away from the 20 year old interns! Get him one of those electronic dog collars that gives him a jolt everytime he comes within 10 feet of a young woman!
OhNo you are right! It is also stupid to vote for a guy who is a community organizer and his POLITICAL platform was Hope and Change. He admitted knew almost nothing about economics he didn't even know what the laffer curve was. So who knows why people vote for certain people?
The reason people on the left can't seem to get enough of hammering Sarah Palin is because they can't find anyone else to pick on. They are immature bullies that stomp their feet and hold their breath and pick on others until they get their way. They need to GET OVER IT. The mid-terms are over, Sarah Palin makes more money doing what she's doing than she ever would in politics. I don't believe she will run in 2012 so go find someone else to pick on. If they didn't think she was a real threat they wouldn't keep going after her.
I am a Republican but find I admire Clinton for her stance more than I do Murkowsky or Crist. She at least is standing up for her party and its rather twisted agenda.
As to these gratuitous slaps against Sarah Palin. To those who, in an article about Hillary Clinton, are so obsessed with denigrating the opposition that they have to post inanities are themselves a "complete joke."
How can anyone with at least a room temperature IQ take Sarah serious? She could'nt tell you the difference between Swaziland and Disneyland. She is so bereft of World political knowledge that it scares the bejeezuz out of most Americans. She didn't even know what the " Bush" doctrine was! Are you kidding me? It is an insult for people to claim she is qualified for the office. She couldn't even hang long enough to do her job in Alaska. Call em' like they are.....flat out ignorant of what the real world is like.
So Craig, you are insinuating that Obama knows more? Are you kidding me? Clinton has had a little taste of the diplomatic world recently, so she does have some experience. Whether she's any good at it is debatable.
Yes, I like Sarah Palin. I like listening to her speak. She's a no-nonsense commentator who resigned her governorship because people of your genre, Craig, wouldn't give her any space to do her job. Now as president, I don't think so. She's smarter than that and can make a better living on the speaker's circuit than she ever will in political office. Now, if Condoleezza Rice were to run with Michelle Bachmann as her running mate................... Sarah would make a great Defense Secretary............
Too true. I doubt that Palin would be the best candidate for president, but I think it's hilarious how meerly stating her name sends leftist true believers into a frenzy. It's also hilarious how the constant attacks on her and her family have enabled her to become MORE influential, MORE powerful, and to put MORE money in the bank. As long as the the daily attacks continue, she really can't go away, even if she wanted to.
I can see a scenario in which Hillary would resign her position six months early and enter a primary against Obama. Ted Kennedy did it against Jimmy Carter but I think unlike Teddy, Hillary could emerge victorious especially if Obama keeps caving to the right wing rethugs and ignores his base and the progressives who have an increasing dislike for the direction Obama has moved. If Hillary does decide to enter a primary challenge to Obama. I really think she would be the next president. I'd love to see her debate Sorry Sarah. If you thought Arizona 's Brewer drew a blank....Sarah will indeed be a pleasure to watch.
Debbie, it only happens in America, people can actually take Ms Sarah Palin seriously. look at some of these comments posted tonight about her being bright and all. Dream on! Yes, let her become the president!!! sad sad scene!!!
Mrs. Clinton would have made a great president, however, she is doing a FANTASTIC job rebuilding our image throughout the world....which is really what she wants to do. So I say Kudos to Secretary of State Clinton, may you continue to doing what you love to do, showing that America is not a strong armed bully that likes to tell other nations what and when they should do things.
She is doing a fantastic job rebuilding our image, all right. Submitting a report to the UN that AZ is in violation of basic Human Rights is great for our image.
Then there is the intervention she made on behalf of the "boy" terrorist, assisting him in getting only eight years for terrorist acts he performed at 15. In the U.S., we have 15 year old "boys" serving life for murder. There isn't any chance in hell that this terrorist is "reformed". It takes a special mind set to do the things he did, regardless of age.
She also said she wouldn't take a position with Obama and we see how that worked out!! haha I'd vote for Palin over Clinton anyday of the week. So hopefully she will be true to her word this ONE time. LOL
Sarah Palin is a joke. She has become a media whore who enjoys the sound of her own voice.
Hillary Clinton is a narcissistic despot looking for a country to rule and believes the United States is it.
As a guest on The View a few years ago, when asked if she thought every state should have the right of recall of politicians who were not doing their job, she adamantly said no.... because the "average voter" had no idea of the complexities of government.
If a politician is thinking I'm too stupid to come in out of the rain, SHE shouldn't be so stupid as to announce it on national TV when she plans to make a career of politics where she will be courting my vote.
Just like the "Bush syndrome" bashers...there is no purpose served reliving the Clinton years. Okay, call me jealous that Slick Willy got head in the oval office...lol..(got a lot of mileage out of that with the little lady..."it's GOOD to be the President!")
The only thing that I still despise about Pinocchio-nose Bill is when he said he smoked pot but didn't inhale. From that moment on, I didn't trust Slick. If Hillary wanted to show me she was her own woman, she should have divorced Bill back then. But, once again it's called political expediency. Do whatever, put on a false front....just to perpetuate your existence in politics.
Ignoring the Clinton years when Clinton is making noises about running for President is asinine. It's like ignoring the criminal tendencies of a master thief out on parole and hiring him as president of the bank.
It's not just YOUR assets you're putting at risk, but the assets of everyone else as well.
We ignored Bush's first four years and gave him four more, and look what that got us. We need to start learning from history.
I can almost buy the "didn't inhale" line. What I could not forgive nor forget was when he looked into the camera, right into my eyes through the TV in my family room, and said unequivocally "I did not have sex with that woman."
Frankly, I didn't care less if he did or he didn't. That was between him and Hilary. But he looked directly at me (and the rest of the US) and lied to our collective faces.
He said he did not have sexual relations with her it was a one time thing and over Rob747, the question should never have been ask in the first place> get over it, this obsession you people have with his sex life is ridiculous, on your part and the GOP COST THE COUNTRY ABOUT 40 MILLION DOLLARS FOR YOUR PEOPLES COLLECTIVE CURIOSITY ENOUGH GET OVER IT!!!
Yep, they just bought your voice and the voice of those who they paid to get elected. McConnel looks the part of a puppet sitting on someone's lap. Now he and his cohorts have to pay for what they benefitted. The lyrics from an old song about coalminers is befitting this current scenario "I loaded sixteen tons and what do I get? I owe my soul to the company store". The GOP need to start humming that note immediately. As well as remembering if you dance to the music you have got to pay to the piper. And theywon't be able to disinvite the newly elected tea party members. They will not be used and then dissed. LMAO
Will not be Palin either! This woman is a complete joke!
Journalist insist
Handgunner-JBC ( Teabaggers ? ) insist
. I going to ask TO THE THREESOME of you very nicely:
.
STOP THAT GARBAGE. This time is over, FORGET YOU PARTINANSHIP: you are an AMERICAN FIRST!...... I not willing to accept you HIJACK the people message.
The message is clear and loud : JOBS. We don't support Teabaggers, we don't support Republicans, We dont support Democrats.
After you Republicans/Teabaggers TURN UNEMPLOYMENT AROUND then we can talk. No before.
Are we clear ? thank you
.
pS. Tyler note I have nothing offensive, but if you decide so, let me know BEFORE YOU ALLOW REPUBLICANS TO COLLAPSE MY POSt. Okey ?
All of the yelling, gripping, complaining by the left just feeds her appeal to the right, which ends up putting money in her pocket.
reply to handgunner's question: tits?
MOMUS2009,
your laughable.
No thanks, the fiscal views of the republicans is what caused this financial mess. Where do you think outsourcing of jobs and "tax cuts and borrowing" fiscal policies came from? This link shows where the nation's debt came from:
I second that motion!
AF Chief,
Skiddy:
Came back to made your point after republicans/teabagers TURN UNEMPLOYMENT AROUND. And yes now, you are in charge. there will be nobody else to blame.
Why you did oppose when REPUBLICANS RAM TWO WARS DOWN IN OUR THROATS ?
But thats another conversation. You and I, should be respectful of the space for other people. Have a nice day.
.
And don't forget we are voting in two years again. See you
Minan59, your laughable.
Progressive conservative is an oxymoron.
Oh thank GOD!!! America can breathe a sigh of relief...NO MORE HILLARY!!!! Can we get that in writing?
All you hear from the left is Palin this and Palin that. Hell, her kid can't even do a show without lefties mistaking her for her mom. It's starting to look more like an obsession. Maybe they need to see a shrink.
JCB..."your" laughable too! LMAO
I actually watch FOX News, CNN and MSNBC. I watch them all and I'll bet you a dollar to a dime, the folks over on FOX talk about Palin more than any one of the people you mentioned. "You're" in denial buddy!
I wouldn't worry about having your posts collapsed "wcritiquing".
Nobody knows what you're babbling about.
It's hilarious!
Sorry Roy...I know you like Hillary
JCB...You can call me what you want, but YOU must watch an awful lot of MSNBC to KNOW that they mention Palin more. Hey, you can be pretend to be a hardcore "Christo-Conservative" all you want, but you're not fooling me. You're one of those go with the flow type of people. And actually, Bill Maher (who's on HBO by the way) talks about Chrisitine O'Donell moreso than he does Silly-Sarah. Hannity and Beck talk about Palin all the time. Dude...pass me some of that what you're smoking!
MOMUS just for you dude /
my quote "I have no problem saying these wars suck, that gays can marry if they wish, that pot should be legal, that abortion is between a woman and her doctor and none of the damn governments business"
JCB....read my post #1.36. I already had you pegged before you responded DUDE! lol
I think Bill Clinton would like to go up against Palin but in a different way than Hillary.
Handgunner,
"I must admit my intrigue with the fact that so many people, primarily from the left, can't get their minds off of Sarah Palin."
Lucy1,
I love the pages and pages of commentary on how the left is not obsessed with Palin.
@wtnsocal
I would love to see a Pres. Huckabee/ VP,Palin ticket in 2012. I don't think Sarah would run till 2016 it that. Just my opinion.
Handgunner
Jimmy Carter was a one-term President just as Obama will be.
ctdad
How extremely sexist your comment is that you would not vote for Hillary because of her relationship with Bill.
Why exactly is that your business and how exactly would that affect her job performance?
PUH-LEEZ. Stop be a sexist.
Jack313
Thanks Jack. I'll admit, I will express my views. I can be just as irate and bashing as anybody on here, but it doesn't make it right, nor does it get any of us anywhere. I guess it's good that we can vent to each other. It may save the spouses a bit of a headache in some cases. lol I know we all agree on one thing and that is we don't was to lose our freedoms.
I agree with you Lucy. Especially the part about how you feel the Dems treat us like we are children.
I am an independent who votes for people and their ideas.
I do not like Obama one speck and never did.
I am all for campaigning for the Republican next election. I hope the Reps pick a good one too.
Instead, why don't you retire from politics and Newsvine?
Who are you to judge them?
Handgunner, your 100% RIGHT ON. The left just LOVES talking about Palin.
Not half as much as republicans that are scared as hell she and the tea party will take over the republican party.
As a democrat I hope she dose run and then for sure President Obama will be reelected with a bigger majority then what he had two years ago.
And on election day, read this post of what had been accomplished:
http://alleyesonabama.blogspot.com/2010/11/record-to-be-proud-of-from-think.html
There are some things that spellcheck just doesn't catch.
oh thank goodness -
I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one who couldn't decipher jabberwocky ;-)
No doubt the CharterMembers of the HillaryHaters AnonymousClubs can recommend an excellent head doc lolol
. . . as Alice would say -- Curiouser & curiouser
You're right, I'd take that ass over thunder thighs any day.
Karen in LosAngeles....
Carry on minions.
It's the liberal media looking for hope. Things do not look too good for them and their agenda right now and they wonder if Obama is on the skids completely. Don't worry though, the conservative side is pestering Palin, Cuomo, Huckaby, Pawlenty, plus a few others on their aspirations.
Why "snake" their way through the toilet? Just ask her to smile and snap away.
Allen-968499, I did too. Don't know if I'd vote for Bill or not.?
Louis:
Hillary can't say anything now. She is still working for Obama as Secretary of State--it would be very inappropriate to go over her "Boss", and the Leader of the Free World.
That's not how it works. The community can collapse your comments, then i show up and review them, wcritiquing.
In this case, not restoring 2.3, because it violates the first rule here:
The corporate board rooms are pimping the pundits and opiners.
Oh my God!! You are a Corporate Conspiracy Theorist!! My sympathy to your family and friends.
I don''t BLAME ON YOU Louis.
There we the same ones who where talking about Polls and Teabagger/Republican Tsunami. And look what happen. There is a gridlock. That made me laught.
.While there is some claiming a huge win, I said THE FOLLOWING:
BIG MONEY-MAINSTREAM MEDIA LOSS......(it).......hugelly...........lol
Way to go America.
Oh, hEAR MY TRHUT.
Here you go again. Stop using the We. Go back to use : I or me..
.
You are nobody to speak for me or the people. Don't start to twist the loud and clear message they gave us: J O B S .
There is not support for Republican agenda, not support for Teabagger agenda, no support for Democrat agenda.
Funny you are complaing about Health Care Reform but YOU DIDN'T OPPOSE IT WHEN REPUBLICANS RAM TWO WARS DOWN IN OUR THROATS.
You know Iraq have nothing to do with 9/11 ( SAudi Arabia ), Don't you ?
Now that your mention it : WE SHOULD STOP SPENDING MONEY IN WAR. Don't you think ?
Can it?
The man is totally WITHOUT CLASS.
Republithug TEA Drinkers are truly priceless.
flyer, I guess Hillary would have been a better choice because she is a white woman?
Let me have the option of taking that same $$ that was being deducted from my paycheck and put it into a real retirement fund that politicians don't have access to and you can bet your butt I will give up that option.
She'll wait another year to see where the President's approval ratings are before she makes any kind of decision.
I'm not buying it. Like the rest of us, she's not getting any younger. She's going to run again.
Maybe Rachel Meadow or Nancy Pelosi should run for president. Both has the disposition that could freeze the artic.
hahahahahahaha. Now that would take care of global warming.
But setting aside history, they would have to give me a good reason to vote for them.
voting based on race and gender just for your own personal view of history. God help America.
taxx, we'll count on your racist and sexist voting.
A female President is not needed. Only a good President is needed.
Conde Rice for President.
I second that nomination.
Hell NO!!!
Great idea!
Agreed....., really smart, savvy, experienced and I think she may almost have zero "baggage" compared to anyone else out there and some of which are not electable....they just don't know it yet.
Ok..that's a repub I would vote for.
Always, with his heart condition I would bet it's medication that is keeping "it" in his pants for him.
Tazz--to vote for anyone based solely based on color, gender, etc. without looking at their stance on issues..is, well..stupid...
OhNo you are right! It is also stupid to vote for a guy who is a community organizer and his POLITICAL platform was Hope and Change. He admitted knew almost nothing about economics he didn't even know what the laffer curve was. So who knows why people vote for certain people?
Oh that's just plain ridiculous. Get over it already. He won. geez.
No, he's right. I know several friends that are black and typically republican or at least conservative voters...they voted for Obama.
Clinton/Palin Could win on a Independent ticket in 2012
How can anyone with at least a room temperature IQ take Sarah serious?
They are scared to death of Sarah Palin they talk about her everyday
"They"? Looks like you got your quota in for the day.
If you thought Arizona 's Brewer drew a blank....Sarah will indeed be a pleasure to watch.
and she can still see Russia from her back door!!
What a joke.
Debbie, it only happens in America, people can actually take Ms Sarah Palin seriously. look at some of these comments posted tonight about her being bright and all. Dream on! Yes, let her become the president!!! sad sad scene!!!
As a republican, my worse nightmare would be palin as president. You betch ya. I'd like to see a presidential race between rice and clinton.
The only image Clinton is rebuilding is her own.
Palin's voice makes me think of one thing: fingernails across a blackboard.
Thank goodness for Citizens United!
LMAO
