Typical gop agenda when in power of congress. No ideas, just defeat the democrat president at all cost. They did the same crap in the 90's . They were so obsessed investigating Clintons' crotch, nothing else mattered to them but total power. Makes me want to puke.
This bozo is not listening to the American people. We want jobs. We don't want him to waste millions of our dollars and months of our time chasing at shadows and playing politics.
Put politics aside Isso, and please, help to fix the country. And if morons like this really do start causing trouble for innocent people, he could risk reopening interest in Bush, Cheney, Halliburton, etc. We need to move forward.
What a pity they didn't use this Republican zeal the last 8 years of the Bush "regime" starting with the Iraq war. If Obama had done same, he would be doing time right now if left to the Republicans.
Looks like business as usual but just for the other party not their own. This isn't a joke even this guy is a joke.
Now the normal Republicans no longer have a voice in their old Party. It's their own fault for sucking up for votes. They have new masters that they must obey without question or be purged. Now I understand why Comrade Palin is demanding support for North Korea.
You poor, clueless libs. You people are so out of touch with reality, as well as being just plain ignorant, you come here and make total fools of yourselves ... and then you wonder why the center-right American majority doesn't want to continue follow you "sheeple" (ultra-leftests) into the slaughter house as you hang on to ideals that have again proven to be severely mis-guided.
If Obama is your "saviour" then I'm afraid there is no hope for you and I see no need to wait around on you people to figure things out. But I'm sure Obama and the Senate will make sure to block any sensible legislation that will come out of the house next year, so what are you concerned about, anyway? Plus he still has his cabinet pulling strings.
The guy talks about cutting out or reducing wasteful spending and the liberal left gets mad. When are we supposed to start reducing waste? Why can't we start now?
Soooo South Texan ( Code for Cracker ) what has your party Republitards/ Tea tards ) done for you and your incestous lot? less government ( Code: meaning..i can sleep with my sister or have as many pre-pubescent wives as i want until i stop giving political donations to teatard / republitard pols )...Stupid redneck....go sheer your wife!
Wow Thorn a refreshing well thought out opinion from the liberal left. Your enlightenment is truly awe inspiring. I'm going to assume by your rant that you also feel that the CIA was directed by George Bush to bring down the World Trade Centers.
So you still think it is OK for a person in authority to have SEX (receive a BJ) from a employee???
Lie to Congress, which is what he was CONVICTED of.
Not to mention, while he was President, did NOTHING while hundreds of Americans were being KILLED and injured during the BOMBINGS of; the Twin Towers, 2+US Embassies, Khobar Towers, the USS Cole, etc.
Remember that the; planning, funding, training, and placing the key Terrorist in te USA for 9-11, happened during Clinton's Administration.
AC Robertson I'm assuming your talking about the same terrorist that our government armed, trained and allowed to set up their training camps during and after the Russian-Afghanistan war.
I agree that Bill should have wiped them out along time ago, but maybe Ronnie and the boys shouldn't had created them in the first place.
The current day drug cartels that are causing so many problems, are the aftermath of the power vacuum created once we shut down our Colombian operations after the dodo hit the fan during the Iran-contra affair.
We are just reaping the rewards from the seeds that good ol Ronnie and the boys sowed.
That is so true, how many millions were wasted on investigating Clinton's bjs in the oval office.
Don't Republicans know we are tired of money being wasted in Washington and here Issa goes and wants to start wasting time and money with his hundreds of subcommittees to investigate stuff that already was debated and decided in Congress.
I think Issa was in Congress when alot of these laws he intends to investigate were passed and he had time to debate then. If the Republicans did more than vote No the past two years they might have some credibility but they didn't.
I will say it; Not only was 9/11 an inside job, but BOTH Obama and Bush are traitors of the Illuminati degree. There, I did my tin-foil hat rant for the day. That being said, it's a damn shame that most commenters here still subscribe to the left/right paradigm. In laymen's terms that means a ONE-PARTY system with two heads. The very same one party system that has pulled the proverbial wool over the American people's eyes year after year after year...Wars, and rumors of war, Police State action not aimed at faux CIA terrorists, but instead directly at the American Citizens!! But that's ok, I can still sleep at night because at least I and many other Americans see thru the Corporate-Government and media facade of corruption and deceptions... The blood is not on my hands and I will say NO to the whole slimy mess. The Constitution is dead, and its destruction began in earnest with the Bush administration and continues today with the equally corrupt and murderous Obama regime...Good luck America, we're all going to need one hell of a lot of that!!
The real problem is people continually comparing what this administration does to what past administrations did and why and what was or wasn't done then to now. The first time anyone does anything to BO the cry goes out----they didn't do that to Bush, Lincoln, Grant, Washington, Jefferson. That's so childish it's pathetic. Like a little kid in a schoolyard; well, Bobby did it why can't I?? It's called politics. It's not fair and all things aren't equal. There are rich and there are poor. There was , is, and will be, and no extension of tax cuts for this and that will change that. Everytime I read these comments, I read the same whining liberals complaining about mostly the same things over and over again. When is it going to sink in, nobody is listening to you? I doubt BO will get past 2012, and the country will be much better for it. Oh, and for you sore losing Democrats---wait until 2012.
The GOP issued over 10,000 subpoenas to the Clinton Administration. They even investigated whether or not the White House improperly used postage to respond to a child's fan club for the white house cat "Socks". This is a big part of why I am no long a Republican. These are not patriots!

One truly has to wonder if the majority of above posters even READ the article . . . or are they merely commenting on the catchy head liner?
Per the article Senator Issa is NOT planning to pursue the same agenda as Newt & gang did in the 90s!
Then in the next breath those who declare themselves "tired of wasteful spending in Washington" are complaining about Senator Issa's plan to CUT some of "Washington's wasteful spending". Whoa - is anyone actually following the illogical (non)reasoning?
And Sarah, would you please elaborate on the investigate stuff that already was debated and decided in Congress?! Can't hardly believe that Congress debated and approved "$40 billion a year in fraud or waste in Medicare"?? As well as "tens of millions of dollars spent on redundant programs within federal agencies or squandered through corrupt contracting procedures"!!
No question that there's certainly enough blame to go around in Washington for the sad state of affairs in America BUT remind everyone again - exactly what did the Democrats do for the last 4 years to try to CURB spending while they had a grip on the purse strings (besides CONTINUE to FUND Bush's Iraq War . . . after Democratic Senators HARRY REID, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry & more helped vote for it in the 1st place!)?
Is it any wonder some folks can't manage to balance their own checkbooks to save themselves either? ay yi yi
First Issa is not a Senator and would not have this kind of control in the Senate, since the Dems still control that house. Secondly, this is the richest man in Congress. What has he done during his time in Congress to control spending? People keep saying that FY2009 is Obama's responsibility, but it is NOT. That was the last year of the Bush budgets and the largest in history. DOD under this administration has developed a timeline to eliminate all waste within that department, and that is being done by a Republican, under the direction of his Democratic boss. Medicare has already significant'y reduced waste and corruption and has the highest level of prosecutions for the same under this administration. That is also where the $500M reduction in Medicare in the healthcare reform (HRC is NOT the proper acronym for that passed legislation) is coming from.....further reduction in waste and fraud. Again, where was Issa from 2001 to 2007 when they were last in control of the House? Our deficit was on the rise during each of those years. Waste, fraud, and corruption was rampant even more than now.
I can't wait until they start cutting all of these programs they talk about and then hearing the outcry from the very voters who told them to do so, once those voters realize that they are the ones being hurt by those cuts. It's just like the seniors attending the town hall meetings shouting out the right-wing slogans and yet holding up signs "Don't touch my Social Security" or "Don't touch my Medicare."
The voters need to educate themselves more on each line item in the budget/appropriations bills, and familiarize themselves with every agency and sub-agency and their programs. Then they can start to determine what can be cut from the budget without affecting their own pockets and lifestyles. Congress sure isn't aware (nor are their staff members) of what they have voted for in all of those bills funding all of those agencies.....and they control the pursestrings. The GOP certainly has done nothing to improve the jobs market. Job losses continued to grow during their power hold on all three branches of legislative/executive government. Job gains have occurred during the past 18 months under the Democratic control, and continue to grow, albeit slowly. The economy is turning around also and we are making strides in correcting the problems that led to the second greatest economic collapse in this nation's history.
If the voters do this education process before the 2012 elections, then they can challenge every single candidate in their district on how they plan to reduce the deficits and the debt, while not raising taxes. It is impossible to do both. But what we really need to do is to bring about total election/campaign finance reform before we get any further into the 2012 campaign season. Go to www.faircampaignreform.us and join the Popular Amendment movement to pass two Constitutional Amendments.
anti-trust proponent " this is the richest man in Congress. What has he done during his time in Congress to control spending? People keep saying that FY2009 is Obama's responsibility, but it is NOT."
What nonsense.
You seem to forget what Nancy Pelosi said after the Democrats took over the House and she was asked if she would work with the Republicans - her response was "We won", meaning that what the republicans thought was irrelevant - she was going to do what she pleased, and the the Republicans could go pound sand.
Also, when Bush proposed a 2009 Fiscal Year Budget calling for only a $407 Billion Deficit, it was promptly ignored by the Democrats controlling Congress, who used 'continuing resolutions' to fund the government until Obama was sworn in in January, 2009. Then they passed the $862 Billion 'Stimulus' bill in February and only then did they approve a 2009 Fiscal Year Budget calling for a Deficit of over $1 Trillion which Obama approved in early April of 2009. Bush had nothing to do with the HUGE $600 Billion spending increase in 2009.
Trying to 'blame Bush' for that huge spending increase is ludicrous, but the "Bush-Bashers" never stop trying to distort history.
Negative, the richest man in congress is Sen, John Kerry by his marriage to Theresa Heinz. Even though the 2009 budget was set by GWB, all Presidents right down the line get charged with the budget from day 1----ALL Presidents. BO is no different than anyone else. Well maybe he is, he's the only one that moans about it. Then again, he moans about a lot of things.
Louisana State University Federal Agency Directory lists over 1,300 distinct organizations across all three branches of federal government: Legislative branch (Congress); Executive branch (President and departments and independent agencies); and Judicial branch (Supreme Court and Circuit Courts). link: http://www.lib.lsu.edu/gov/fedgov.html
The left-wing loons on this forum, along with the wh0res at the NY Times, must have already forgotten about the HUNDREDS of hearings that the DimocRATS held after the 2006 elections to try and pin ANYTHING criminal or even the most insignificant violation of procedure on Bush or any member of his administration.
These people can't have forgotten the subpoenas issued by Leahy, Waxman, Conyers, etc to attempt to get ahold of privileged communications and to try to force Bush's LAWYERS and Advisors to testify in front of the CSPAN cameras.
Of course, despite all of the underhanded tactics by the DimocRATic Committee Chairs, they found NOTHING!!
I wonder how Obama and his henchmen, as well as Pelosi, Reid, etc, would react to CRIMINAL hearings on THEIR actions from 2006 through 2010. Naturally, all of their communications, their aides, their personal records, etc would have to be subpoenaed.
Now, THAT is what I would call a TARGET RICH ENVIRONMENT.
This guy? Total power? The GOP? Where've you had your head stuffed the last four years? It gets old, all these people padding along behind the Democrats, championing them without any thoughtful scrutiny whatsoever. Your feigned outrage at this guy wanted to review the virtually endless government waste of the last four years is both juvenile, and misplaced. It's long past time someone called those in power to task for squandering America's wealth -- we need more guys exactly like this one almost as desperately as we need voters who wake up and realize Washington can't solve their problems. Both parties deperately need real review, but as long as Republicans being in power means a fraction of the waste that it means when Democrats are in power, you can imagine which side I'll be on.
And I have the utmost confidence that you'll continue to be complacent, our children and grand children be damned.
There is no reason for the GOP to go after Obama...he's self destructing every time he takes on a new Number One Issue. If he can produce results that shrink the size of government through investigations, more power to him.
I love the liberals on here complaining about Issa when this is classic. The GOP is thinking outside the box in order to cut spending and reduce the need for tax increases and deficit spending, when the liberals only know how to tax and spend.
I never hear anyone talk about the number of jobs that will be lost if the GOP succeeds in eliminating all these government agencies as they keep threatening. They sound as if government jobs don't actually count as jobs. Government employees who lose their jobs are just as unemployed as private sector people who lose their jobs. Personally, I would rather see the government pay people for doing a job than to remove the jobs and give them unemployment. People contribute more to the economy if they have a job than if all they have is unemployment. (No taxes and no purchasing power.) There is a basic disconnect between saying they have a mandate to create jobs and saying they have a mandate to shrink government.
Typical gop agenda when in power of congress. No ideas, just defeat the democrat president at all cost.
Lol, you need some reading comprehension remediation. What you are claiming is exactly what he said he doesn't intend to do. Did you even bother to read the article before you started being a loud mouth here?
oops my bad . . . Issa is not a Senator - he is but a mere lowly Congressperson ;-)
who does happen to be one of the richest Members of the House . . . but not because he inherited it or "married it" - Issa actually EARNED his money by building up his own lucrative car alarm company AND then selling it for obviously even bigger bucks (now this sounds like the kinda guy we need more of in Washington . . . rather than more of the same ole yawn "HAVE to read the How to Book" types!
PLEASE STEP AWAY FROM THE CAR
wonder how many loons will vow not to buy a Viper NOW lol . . . or trash the ones they already have (figures all the little yuppies would rather have their beamers stolen than to admit the GOP has ANY good ideas right!)
yep as Obama & Pelosi declared back in 2009 "We WON, you lost." seems their library card has since expired. will someone please tell Nancy to return her overdue books? and at least find an UPDATED edition of "It's The Economy Stupid 101" for President Obama
Heartlight3

so you would rather pay a person to stamp the same piece of paper 5 times - and then another 5 government employees to stamp THE SAME piece of paper ANOTHER 5 times - before it even takes 3 people to file it? and then 4 employees to find it again a few days later . . . so they can start the same process all over again!
okay may be exaggerating a bit . . . but then again maybe NOT
yes I'd rather everyone be gainfully employed - than the alternative of having them trying to live on unemployment. BUT at some point nonproductive redundancy has to be STOPPED even if it means someone loses a job. if it wouldn't be discriminatory - maybe they could eliminate all those government positions gained by NEPOTISM! more than half of which probably don't even actually NEED the job in the 1st place?
I don't know if the majority/or if all government jobs are Union . . . but (imho) it always seems that the Unions protect the lazy workers!! obviously NOT all excess gov employees are lazy - but we can't keep adding NONproductive jobs in the government sector merely to "create jobs & a pay check" on the taxpayers dime
AND I fully support unemployment . . . in fact I'd rather have my tax dollars spent on UNEMPLOYMENT than on the huge salaries of those superfluous gov employees.
btw - you pay TAXES on unemployment (based on your tax bracket!)
as to what happens to all those who would be added to the unemployment rolls . . . they'd better hope that Washington gets back on track and finally starts seriously focusing on the ECONOMY & BETTER JOBS CREATION FAST
. . . or Obama could always create another CCC which pays employees to actually do an honest day's WORK.
plenty of Federal Parks/Monuments/Buildings/Grounds that need sprucing up!!
wouldn't even have to give them a pink slip . . . just offer them a TRANSFER ;-)
What can anyone expect from the Gestapo On Parade (GOP).. partisan politics, ala carte?
Where was the GOP Issa bunch when bush-cheney and the neocon GOP controlled House and Senate.... with folks like Amberof, and sleazoid of all times, Tom Delay, running loose AND running ramshod with CORRUPTION, SUBVERSION, and the most grotesque government spending spree in USA History?? Pathetic, TWO-FACED, sob!
Obama has proven to be quite the politician, outspending even Bush. Watching the corruption so elegantly displayed by Nancy Pelosi has been breathtaking, but all good things must come to an end.
With TRILLION dollar deficits as far as the eye can see, unemployment stagnant while Obama has transferred more wealth in less time than any man in history, it might be time to look into little things like the 2900 page health care bill that was negotiated and confirmed by Democrats behind closed doors, along with all the six-figure Czars who answer to no one but the President.
Well that, and reduce government burden to the point that small businesses feel ok about risking capital again.
Or we could keep rolling down the Democrat path, passing bills we don't read, overspending by trillions (seems like just yesterday a billion was a lot of money).
Where were the GOP & Issa? They were voting for two unfunded wars in the oil-laden Middle East and for Medicare Part D, all in the name of smaller government, of course...
Why wasn't he "safeguarding" us when Bush was in office? Why all of a sudden is he interested in being a watchdog now. Politics! Politics! I'm sick of the GOP's hypocrisy!
Maybe it is because he was not chairman of the oversight committee when Bush was president, or does that fact escape your limited grasp. I for one am glad we have someone who plans on focusing on putting a stop to the major waste that goes on in the government. Issa is showing common sense by focusing on the areas where there are big dollars to be saved and not wasting time on nickel and dime politically motivated crap. He is looking for the most bang for the buck, realizing that he has limited resources at his disposal for investigations. I also support his push to give more power the the inspectors general of the various government agencies and departments to go after fraud and waste, recognizing that they arecloser to the problem and therefor know best where to look. You liberal hypocrites sit there and complain about government fraud and waste and then attack someone who wants to do something meaningful about it just because he is a republican.
Issa is showing common sense by focusing on the areas where there are big dollars to be saved and not wasting time on nickel and dime politically motivated crap
That's what he says he'll be doing. I'll wait to see if he carries the notion that programs can't be cut purely for symbolic reasons (the argument he's using to defend his own committee's funding) through to the rest of his work, or if "symbolic reasons" are only symbolic if they apply to things the GOP likes.
More to the point, if he's going after fraud and waste in a non-partisan manner, then why are all the specifics mentioned in the article squarely in the column marked "things the GOP doesn't like"? Fanine Mae and Freddie Mac, but not the DoD? Elizabeth Warren, but not corporate welfare? &c &c...
JS don't confused the emotions of the liberal with any factual information. Let them stew in their own garbage. Issa is going to make a difference and begin to deliver on the promise to reduce spending and they are afraid things like the appointment of Czars, unions, and Obama's relationship with ACORN might disrupt the entitlements.
TJ, you as others all argue you want cuts and eliminations to reduce government spending. Problem is what you may think needs to be cut or eliminated may in fact be a vital agency in another area of this nation. I doubt you would receive any argument that government could do a better job at how it spends tax dollars. The billion dollar question is what and where to cut or reduce without incurring undo harm or risk to the public. If you desire to reduce or cut government spending then everything must go on the chopping block in all fairness. Therein lies the difficulty because of the unintentional risk or potential for public harm. What we each consider wasteful or unnecessary is relative to how or where we live. It's our continued expectations from government regardless that are the single contributing factor. If you and others want cuts and reductions to government and spending then you must fully accept the consequences of those actions. You cannot expect to have your cake and eat it to. Importantly, individual responsibility is automatic as a result for all conditions and situations.
Why wasn't he "safeguarding" us when Bush was in office? Why all of a sudden is he interested in being a watchdog now. Politics! Politics! I'm sick of the GOP's hypocrisy!
Same with you. You obviously didn't read the article. By the way, the charter for his committee is government oversight. I suppose you'd suggest that the executive branch operate without any? The only politics as usual is the left wing posts on the Vine.
Specifically, he was saving the state of California from the ineptitude and misguided spending of Governor Gray Davis. Issa spearheaded the recall effort against Davis, yet another failed Democrat who wrongly thought that big government equals better government.
Issa is an American hero and a patriot. I hope he'll run for President someday.
Specifically, Congressman Issa was rescuing the state of California from the inept and misguided "leadership" of Governor Gray Davis. Davis was, like most Democrats, operating under the foolish belief that big government is better government.
Mr. Issa is an American HERO and we can only hope he'll run for President himself someday.
This jerk was pressuring US Attorney Carol Lam to resign after she prosecuted Congressman Randy "Duke" Cunningham for corruption. Apparently, it wasn't appropriate during the Bush Administration for US Attorneys to investigate corruption of Republican politicians, so Issa pressured her to resign which she did.
This was only 2 years ago, how stupid does Issa think America is not to notice his two-face tactics
Gloria, right on I'd like to know the same thing. I'll also add to those who think this is a left/center/right political ideology issue your not even in the game. America's middle-class the largest segment of it's population is watching Washington. People are hurting deeply and expect Washington to fix their pain and suffering. The GOP leadership has already drawn lines in the sand that party ideology is the foremost agenda. Middle-class America rightfully so feels their needs and that of the people should be the first focus. The GOP had better stop worrying about Obama getting re-elected and focus on those segments of America's population hurting. Importantly, no majority currently exists in Washington as voters wait and watch. Recent election gains stand to be reversed again if the needs of people are not fixed.
This jerk was pressuring US Attorney Carol Lam to resign after she prosecuted Congressman Randy "Duke" Cunningham for corruption.
Sarah, I took the time to open the link you provided and read what it said. Here are some quotes from the article:
For years, Issa has been critical of Lam for what he said was her failure to more aggressively prosecute illegal-immigrant smugglers.
"And I have had one-on-one conversations with Ms. Lam, urging her to be more aware of the policy priority that the president has given," he said, referring to Bush's promises to secure the nation's borders.
In an October 2005 letter to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, for example, Issa blasted Lam's office for failing to prosecute two cases of smugglers who were repeat offenders. In the letter, Issa called her failure to do so the result of "lax prosecutorial standard."
"On Tuesday, Issa said that Lam, who was appointed to the post by President Bush in 2002, had done a good job in prosecuting white-collar crime and commended her for her successful investigation of the now-imprisoned former 50th District Congressman and conservative Republican Randy "Duke" Cunningham."
As you can see he specifically praised her for her handling of the prosecution of the Cunningham case. The article said the reason she was asked to resign was her failure to prosecute smugglers. The article also said Lam released a press statement that did not address why she was resigning nor did it say she was asked to resign. Remember I'm using the source you provided.
how stupid does Issa think America is not to notice his two-face tactics
This quote from your post is really interesting. You deliberately misstated the article to bolster your claim and you claim he has two-face tactics????? You also ask how stupid do people have to be not to notice two-face tactics. Well as of right now your post has two votes so there are at least a couple of people not smart enough to notice underhand tactics :)
Sarah PLEASE READ the articles you're commenting on, sweetie!!
AND QUOTING from lol
On Tuesday, Issa said that Lam, who was appointed to the post by President Bush in 2002, had done a good job in prosecuting white-collar crime and commended her for her successful investigation of the now-imprisoned former 50th District Congressman and conservative Republican Randy "Duke" Cunningham.
Oh and as the article you linked was written in Jan 2007 . . . it's almost FOUR years ago (which is when in fact SEVEN US Attorney Generals from across the country were being "dismissed"!! And the consensus is that the pressure came from much higher power sources than "a mere" Republican Senator!)
In a speech on the Senate floor Tuesday, U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., said that it was recently brought to her attention that several U.S. attorneys have been asked to resign, some by the end of the month and prior to the end of their terms.
Serious concerns were echoed by many of the nation's top legal minds about the appearance of congressional interferance and inpropriety. You may recall if you followed the firings how congressional members contacted those U.S. Attorney's regarding specific cases. One alligation was the firings were to impede ongoing investigations of republicans. Another was certain attorneys were targeted for failure to initiate investigations into Democrats with intent to hamper upcoming elections. Fact as of Sept. of 2007 nine of the top officers of the Dept. of Justice resigned who were connected with the firings. The Justice Dept. Inspector General in 2008 found the process used to dismiss the attorneys was fundamentally flawed. The evidence did not support the action and rasied serious concerns regarding the integrity of the Dept. of Justice. I might add that Sen. Feinstein later reversed her public statement supporting Rep. Issa's complaint about U.S. Attorney Lam. In fact she found that S.CA prosecutions also declined proportionally equal to those of U.S. Attorney Lam for the same period. Use your own judgement but the whole process from the start indicated a hidden agenda for nothing more then political gain and folly. Issa's criticism and complaints carry little merit when the whole picture is taken into account.
but there is little doubt that the firings/forced resignations of the US Attorney Generals in 2007 were politically motivated
and Issa may have been openly critical of Lam . . . but as a 6yr REPRESENTATIVE, I don't see that HE would have the clout to have her put on the hit list. those orders came from HIGHER sources!
I believe the justification went something like "the federal judges serve at the wishes/whim of the President" (and Rove's fingerprints were all over the "marching orders"!)
if you've been following "Issa's political career" at all - it appears that he thoroughly relishes being in the limelight & generally being "a thorn in opponents sides"! plus apparently he has quite the knack for picking the most controversial issues
. . . however at this point - we've had so many crooks & liars on both sides of the aisle in Washington - that IF ANY OF THEM can actually accomplish ANYTHING to help reduce the deficit AND finally FULLY FOCUS on the ECONOMY & JOBS -- I could care less if they were even related to Richard Nixon!!
the majority of Americans were willing to give the Democrats a chance in 2006 & 2008. in 2010 - it appears that they are willing to give the GOP a SECOND CHANCE . . . so now it remains to be seen whether the Republicans have truly learned their lesson or not?!
That's great... instead of trying to focus on making this country a better place, and making sure the middle class isn't being screwed, lets just use all the government resources we can to make sure our president fails. That's a great plan Republicans, truly. /sarcasm
Seriously, who the hell voted for these people? This is why you should have to take an IQ test before you vote... so that idiots like this aren't elected. Remember people: If the President fails, America fails. I might have hated Bush.... but I didn't want his ass to fail, because that means we as a country failed. I guess that's to complex for some morons to understand though.
So for the past 4 years the Democrats have controlled congress, written every bill, screwed us beyond measure. For the past 2 years Obama has bullied his way to getting exactly what he wants, and here we sit approaching bankruptcy at full speed, and you're already complaining about a group not even in office yet?
You children crack me up.
For nearly 2 years now we have been reading over and over and over that we all need patience, it takes time to fix all this stuff. All the while instead of fixing, your idiots have been raiding the treasury.
Our guys finally have a chance at stopping these crooks, and you're whining.
Well welcome to grown up world, it's gonna get ugly.
Paul, you refuse to answer the question. Where was Issa when George Bush was in office. Where was his outrage then? Where was yours?
You're good at blasting Democrats with the "current rhetoric" of the day. We can turn on the TV and here Sarah, Rush, Sean, Michelle, Glen...etc., spew the same insults. Your isults are not original.
And still, you and they refuse to answer the question: Where was the oversight in corruption and spending when the republicans and George Bush were in power?
We were pretty much there when GW left office. Remember who started the bail outs, who gave halliburton no bid contracts for his personal war against Sadam, how much did these "smaller government" people waste starting a whole new department (DHS)who's only job is to tell the other departments to do what had already been doing.
It would be nice if they were really out to protect the peoples intrest, but it is just another dog and pony show to bullsh&* the ignorant it to believing they care.
The teabaggers have been totally punked. The unemployment rate is right about where the thugs want it. Wages can be lowered, unions busted, middle-class laughed at. They have been used just like the religious right was during the shrub years. Thanks baggers. Stupidity reins supreme!!
Ever wonder what would happen if glen limbaugh actually got an education?? lol..
I see Saul Alinsky is your favorite author. Typical communist post. You Communists have wrecked America slowly over the last several decades. Its not the Democrat party it is the Communist party. If you call yourself a Democrat in all reality you are a Communist.
Meanwhile the nation is $13.5 trillion in debt, Pentagon could be falling into a 3rd war after spending trillions in third world countries for 10 years, government payrolls and spending are out of control, real unemployment is still 17-20%, there is housing foreclosures, commercial foreclosures, church foreclosures, bank foreclosures, jobs shipped out of the country, prisons full with 2 million Americans, border wars in the southwest, unbridled immigration by the US State Department and he wants to watch the President. Is this a joke?
If you read the article, he want to check ALL government agencies, not necessarily concentrating on the presidency unless he tries to block the investigations for no good reason.
Besides, who'd want Biden to step into the presidency?
The DEM'S and the President will probable be delighted to let him cut all the waste he can, and should even be able to point out things to him that will help bring down the budget, Obama is looking to save and pay down debt as much as they are, now that the crisis he was left with is getting some what under control, this should not be done to bring the President down, but needs to be done as normal business until the debt is completely gone no matter who is in the white house, I will point out that they could reduce the numbers on certain things that are in the works now, if the government will be smaller, they will not need as many of some of the things being ordered now!!!
He is not trying to save the government money because if he does he pisses off the people who fund his and other republicans campaigns. This is to find things they can slap Obama with and part of their and big business's plan to take over the government.
You know, logdump, I recognize the cynicism behind that comment, and I recognize that it might not be fair to deny that Issa may be sincere in his desire to eliminate waste...
Problem is, I also tend to agree with your assessment of the eventual outcomes...
oh please, this just shows how ignorant you really want to be. Why didn't you ask for McCain's birth certificate - he really wasn't born in the USA. By the way, is this really all you have to complain about Obama, I think it is hilarious. Or I think it really has more to do with race. You birthers are so obvious.
Oh please. Don't stop. The American people need to know how well you have listened to them about jobs and a better economy. As much as I would have liked to see the Dems investigate the previous administration, we are now about to learn from the republicans what an awful idea that was.
Was BO born in America, don't know? Is he an American citizen, don't know? Is he Muslim, don't know? Is he the worst President we've ever had, you betcha. He's bucking Carter for bottom of the pile.
Stop watching Fox News and use some common sense. While you're worried about birth ceritificates people have no jobs and fighting two wars. Wow incredible how people can be fooled so that Cheney and his croonies can make millions. Now this boozo who already is a millionaire wants to cut spending except for his staff of course.
One wonders how these 4 letter words and acronyms get thrown around these blogs, but call BO a bad President as in 9.5 above and that'll get you collapsed. We're getting real touchy now about protecting his highness. If what I said which I worded quite well upsets you, get off the blog.
What a poor excuse for an American this man is. The Republicans are in charge of the House and have a chance to do some good for the Country and Americans and all he can think about is stiring up more trouble. I guess people with ideas legislate and people with no ideas create more problems.
"Issa is an American hero -- just the kind of man we need to rescue America from the horrendous ideas of liberal overspending Democrats!!"
Why do we need another person wanting to expand government powers? Republicans are supposed to be opposed to exactly what he is proposing, yet he is getting cheers for it.
This is a power grab, pure and simple, and you are cheering for it.
What a poor excuse for an American this man is. The Republicans are in charge of the House and have a chance to do some good for the Country and Americans and all he can think about is stiring up more trouble. I guess people with ideas legislate and people with no ideas create more problems.
Uh, the man is being put in charge of the House Oversight and Government Reform committee. It's his job to oversee the goings on of government, the bulk of which is transacted through the executive branch. There has been scant oversight for the last two years. What would you have him do? Nervous?
Republicans hate America. Republicans are just like the Gestapo. The Republicans and Corporations are in bed fellows. The Republicans hate americans and dont want americans to succeed. They sell american jobs to foreign governments. YOUR job.
Actually, both sides of the aisle are responsible for sending jobs overseas. You need to climb out from under your rock so you can see the entire picture.
I am so glad Issa is going to investigate and supeona the crimminals in the Obama goverment, hopefully it will end with the impeachment of Obama himself.
Obama's crimes which must be investigated ----
Obama is systematically dismantling the U.S. economy
Obama Exhibit's Potential as a Marxist Dictator
Obama is weakening America's defenses
Obama appears to be thoroughly incompetent
Obama hates America
Obama has appointed czars, a feature of Communist Russia
Obama has nationized the banks
Obama has Nationalized General Motors and Chrysler
Gosh such zeal. You must have just woken up with a bad case of amnesia from the last 8 years of Bush driving our country to economic ruin; and the loss of so many young lives fought in vain in Iraq.
Your stupid rant of Obama not having a valid SSN is sickening when so many young men went to their deaths because of Bush lying about the war. Your priorities are really messed up.
You're preaching to a bunch of libbys on here Todd...they're afraid any investigations will prove the used car salesman they all voted for will uncover just that...he is a used car salesman and nothing more (unless you throw in racist, anti American ,narcissist, and illegal muslim).
Actually the czars weren't a feature of "Communist Russia." They were a feature of the pre-communist imperial Russia. But just an FYI, 'czars' have been appointed by Republican presidents too. First one I remember (I'm sure it wasn't the first one overall) was the drug czar appointed by Bush Sr. - former Florida governor Bob Martinez.
Bush requested the TARP legislation you are referring to in your banks/auto industry items.
Birther arguments are retarded and old. You only make yourself look foolish with those.
ALL politicians, regardless of party, are "criminals". Can't think of one who hasn't screwed a taxpayer, figuratively and/or literally.
Clueless politicians, again regardless of party, elected by a clueless populace, are the undoing of America. Politicians focus so much on getting revenge or embarrassing their opponents and forget that we are ONE NATION and they a house divided against itself cannot stand.
Hatefulness focused on out-doing the 'other guy' doesn't get our country anywhere. We argue amongst ourselves and destroy our nation from within while our enemies laugh their asses off.
And while I completely disagree with your assessment and find many of your arguments foolish, I fully support your right to such a position. But I also remind you that I am not your enemy and I recognize that I certainly won't change your mind.
Obama's crimes which must be investigated Which crimes? Attacking a country and overthrowing a government for no reason…oh, that was Bush.
Obama is systematically dismantling the U.S. economy Since Obama took office, the US economy has been growing, not shrinking every quarter. Unemployment is down, employment is up and retail sales is higher than in the past five years (consumerism is our national product).
Obama Exhibit's Potential as a Marxist Dictator Look up Marxist Dictator and then get back to us with specifics to support your claim.
Obama is weakening America's defenses Obama has not changed one single National Security Policy and has even toughened some security. Your statement is complete hogwash that even O'reilly would call you an idiot for saying.
Obama appears to be thoroughly incompetent At what?
Obama hates America This statement does nothing more than make you look like a moron.
Obama has appointed czars, a feature of Communist Russia The President that first created the job of "Czar" was Reagan. Was he a Communist?
Obama has nationized the banks That was the Bush Administration genius.
Obama has Nationalized General Motors and Chrysler Not only did his move keep them from going belly up, but it allowed them to restructure and go public raising so much stock that US is no longer a major share holder…..try reading a newspaper sometime.
Preferential Treatment of the Black Panthers Where did you come up with this one?
Obama is not a natural born citizen Birther huh? That explains your other reasoning skills
Obama does have a valid Social Security number So do I, you don't?
"Obama has appointed czars, a feature of Communist Russia"
HUH?
Actually the Russian commies overthrew the Czars. I think you're confused. Or you just put some related terms "Czars, Russia, Communist" together and came up with bulls**t?
What a blessing it must be to possess absolutely no knowledge of history as well as a complete lack of memory of events as well. That together with an obvious ignorance of the meanings of the terminology you have chosen to utilize must be real bliss. Obviously no sleepless nights for you. I find myself envious of your simplified life. Have a pleasant evening.
Obama's favorite colors are red, blue and green. When he eats dinner he mostly faces east (because of the white house dining room's configuration) He sold all of his Ronald Reagan memorabilia at a garage sale. What more proof do we need to impeach this Marxist, Stalanist socialist Fascist?? That's enough for teabaggers.
"I am so glad Issa is going to investigate and supeona the crimminals in the Obama goverment, hopefully it will end with the impeachment of Obama himself.

bwahahahahahahaha...Love the reiteration of the Faux News talking points. You must either be a bumpkin from the corn fields of the midwest or a bammer to be that dumb!
Say bye-bye to social security, VA benefits, medicaid and medicare, Comrades.....all you GOPers who voted for the repukes are gonna get it now...get the lube handy...
No need to worry about that, BO just took 500 billion out of Medicare to pay for HCR---seems like the Dems are doing pretty good all by their selves. Full retirement is now at 67, up from 65, and wanting to go to 69. I believe the Dems did that also. Amazing how you guys blame everyone else for things YOU did? Every election the Dems use that old fear mongering tactic about the Repubs taking SS away---didn't work last time and probably won't again for a long time. As for Comrades, we're going to get rid of him in 2012.
Read the bill, ftybr. That $500B cut is in waste, fraud, and corruption, and that reduction is already being done, even before the bill takes full effect in 2014.
Actually, it was NIXON who pushed for and got passed an amendment to the SSA that then forced the Carter administration to have to take action to raise SSA revenue by increasing the age of retirement. Both parties have been responsible for changes in the entire Social Security and welfare programs. Here is the link for the entire history of Social Security.
Sorry friend, the Social Security Amendment act of 1983, H.R. 1900, public law 98-21 raises the social security retirement age from 65 to 67 starting in the year 2000. Nice try at pulling up names and dates! Secondly, there's thousands of doctors considering pulling out of the system due the the reduction in benefit payments. PLEASE get your facts straight before you start disputing me. If you're wrong, you make me do too much research.
Sorry, we are both partly right. Carter had to raise the level of withholding to help fund the program. Reagan had to push the age increase as well as the tax rate to further what Nixon started and Carter continued. But like i said, BOTH parties have been responsible for the changes in the program and its funding ever since its inception. Yes, the 1983 act started in 2000, but that was for anyone retiring during or after that year. The age increase affected any one born after 1937 and gradually raised the age to 67 for anyone born after 1954.
What's with the doctors crap? That is NOT social security. That is the Medicare program. The reason many of them are threatening to pull out is because they will no longer be able to gouge the system with unnecessary tests and treatments, just as with the hospitals, etc.
BTW, are you afraid or too lazy to do your own research and post your links before making your statements of falsehood? At least I got you to do some work trying to prove your points, and again partly erroneously with no links to it other than stating the bill. Plus, when the 1983 legislation was passed the party in power was President R, Senate R (54), House D (269) so it took both parties to pass that legislation.
So this is what the GOP is going to do this session of Congress--go after Obama. And for what? To prove he's not a citizen? To prove he's a Muslim? To prove--what? That he's really not black or biracial or even human, but an alien? This is insane. Our country is in a pit economically and psychologically, most of us are worried if we're going to keep our jobs (if we're lucky enough to have one right now), and these morons want to spend the next 2 years raking muck on the President. Why is it that only Republican majorities do that to sitting Presidents? The Dems didn't start an investigation of Bush/Cheney in 2006, although God knows they had far more reason to do so than the GOP has to check on Obama. It just shows me that nobody in Washington cares one bit about the rest of us--if we aren't donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to their reelection and PAC committees--and they're only interested in wasting time and money and our patience by going after a guy who truly has the worst job in the world right now.
Speaking of which, I'm still waiting to hear what the GOP would do to FIX THINGS. They have no ideas, only negative comments to offer. That's not what we want to hear right now. Wake up, idiots. Two years is a long time in American politics. You guys are riding (barely) high right now, but that can change quickly. Be smart for once, and use your time on the Hill wisely. If you don't, and waste our time and money going after Obama, your asses are out in 2012 too.
Remember how productive their first 'Contract with America' was? Yeah, they totally spent their entire time in Congress pursuing weak charges against Clinton as a smokescreen to their own incompetence. It'll probably be the same thing they try here. Go after Obama, maybe even impeach him for charging taxpayers for the thread used to stitch his lip. Create a huge smokescreen so they can annoint the next DUHbya wannabe into the White House in '12.
Hey Mike, you were expecting something different from the Republicans? They are interested in two things, raiding the treasury and power. That sums up the Repubs, if a benefit for the middle class occurs while they are in pursuit of those two items, then its "trickle down"effect, actually more like drip down effect.
So this is what the GOP is going to do this session of Congress--go after Obama.
Apparently nobody on the left is capable of reading an article, nor of understanding the specific charter of the committee that Issa is taking over as chairman. Are you all daft? He specifically said in the article that he doesn't plan to get bogged down in partisan subpoenas. What is it with you folks? So what would you do if you were put in charge of the House Oversight and Government Reform committee? Have a sleep over and pillow fight?
You betcha! Recall this Viper Overlord Issa, before he strikes. Let's eliminate waste: legislate this oversight position out of existence. I am so utterly dismayed.
Now now. Bush certainly wasn't alone. He had lots of help from his friends. And the Democrats were almost complicit in the post-9/11 fervor that took hold inside the beltway.
POLITICIANS ruined the country. Greedy corporate types - admittedly GOP-backed rich people - ruined the economy (and blamed the unions - unions are always scapegoats for this and that).
Not everyone in the world hates Americans. The Chinese absolutely adore us. They particular like the Benjamins... if you know what I mean.
Both parties raped the country. Until a majority of Americans realize this, and act on it, nothing will change, and only get worse. We are ruled, not served by our government. Just look at one tiny example: the vast amount of dinners, all day catering, vacations, pensions, and free healthcare they take. Try them and hang them for crimes against our citizens, including treason. For example: did they vote to transfer Social Security "surplus" to their own earmarks?
they were absorbed; power corrupts, doesn't it? We hhave those old sayings for a reason. I would offer that Obama turned elitist in a heartbeat, too. Soon he will be touring and doing speaches with Bush, just like Clinton and Bush sr.
This guy is trying to get spending under control. Why are you all (except Todd above) against that? Its time to stop all this partisan squabbling and get on with the hard work ahead. You are all a bunch of clowns.
I hate clowns. Especially when they're all crammed into a Hummer in the middle ring that is the Beltway.
I am all for getting spending under control. We spend way too much on what we get in return: grief.
We need to pass laws requiring the territories - where they get tax-based benefits, but pay zero income taxes - to either vote to become states, or surrender their American citizenship in favor of self-reliance as independent nations.
The states should be the only collectors of income tax. Then they all, equally, provide a portion of this tax base to support the federal government. And the federal level WILL work with what they get, not what they want. All states provide equally, and receive equal benefits.
Illegals need to be asked to leave. If they don't, they need to be removed. The laws need to enforce the simple fact that if you aren't here legally, you won't be getting any benefit for staying. No free schools, no free healthcare (maybe we'll patch you up in an emergency, but then transfer you to your native country of origin for follow up). No welfare, no housing. All that stuff is reserved for own homeless and poor.
Tell these sports franchises that if they want a new stadium, they'll be paying for it themselves, or they need to form partnerships with concert and convention organizers. I'm tired of hearing these billionaire owners gripe about their lousy arenas and stadiums and how the taxpayer, who will still have to pony up hundreds for tickets and parking, should pay for some or all of the costs. You can pay a guy a quarter billion dollars to swing a wood bat at a leather ball, but you can't afford to build a stadium? Please...
"This guy is trying to get spending under control. Why are you all (except Todd above) against that? Its time to stop all this partisan squabbling and get on with the hard work ahead. You are all a bunch of clowns."
This guy is trying to get spending under control. Why are you all (except Todd above) against that? Its time to stop all this partisan squabbling and get on with the hard work ahead. You are all a bunch of clowns.
Yes, thank you. Someone who read the article. I've never seen such pack mentality as the folks who came out and posted here. It's rabid and somewhat queered up. Do you think they actually LIKE the government to waste money? Very strange.
Ummm...Palin is not an elected official....and I would add the investigation of Obama ties to Fanny and Freddy, why Timothy Geitner was carried over as Treasury secretary, why Obama expanded the Afghan war when he said it would end, and why two trillion was transferred to the wealthy when that could have not only "saved" social security but turned it into a powerhouse pension plan.
You are sooomisinformed, its laughable. Geithner was an Obama appointment. He has no ties to Fannie and Freddie! He promised to end the Iraq war and expand in Afganistan, over and over. That is waht he is doing. Where were you? Two trillion trasferred to the wealthy? What are you talking about? Talk about misinformed gibberish!
Rock was hiding under a rock and listening to Fox News. He is right about one thing though: Palin is NOT an elected official...ANYMORE! Mama Grizzly (bwahahahaha) QUIT!!!
I'll bet you if Bail'N Palin runs for Pres. in 2012 slate (brittle) Rock will vote for her....AND I CANNOT WAIT TILL THAT DAY! LOL
Maggie- you are the half-informed one; what you say is true, but unfortunately not educated enough to know a full truth. I am blaming both parties: I am more of a democratic socialist than anything; Obama's policies carry over Bush policies in their entirety.Geitner was head of the fed under the Bush regime. Obama ran on an anti war policy, but the tie up Iraq/finish Afghanistan policy is all Bush. We still have torture, we still have Gitmo. We still Have drones in Pakistan. Finally, Obama has massive ties to Fanny and Freddy, some of his main campaign financiers and also beneficiaries of his fiscal policy: if you don't count the banks and insurance industries, one able to give the largest bonuses of all time because of government bailouts, the other about to reap the greatest profits of all time because of the so-called "health-care bill." Maggie, try researching, not just listening to Foc or MSNBC; John, you are just a troll.
This is GOP obstructionism at its sleaziest. They have no ideas so they attack the President that recently won in a landslide. Guess this Bozo wants to morph into a Dick Darthvader Chaney and Richard Slippery Dick Nixon. I have an idea for the GOP, get an idea.
If you yank the sheet off the GOP you are disgusted with what you find and I am talking about the present GOP because the real GOP is hiding in a dark corner trembling right now because they are on the hit list of the Borg/GOP who wants to assimilate them.
Wow these GOPers are are not wasting anytime...Let's start the investigation with these 3 words and see how far we get...Bush, Cheney, Halliburton. Where were you guys during Bush years...You guys could saved millions of jobs and the deficit.
Finally - some decent oversight in the house. Funny how Charlie Rangle decided to move quickly on the case before the GOP would clean things up. Glad to see some real accountability back in the house.
You don't see it... yet. Hopefully it's not more smoke and mirrors in the guise of seeking to find out who has the bigger appendage. Dick-waving contests don't accomplish anything.
The GOP isn't known for cleaning things up. Neither party has ever had much of a success rate when it comes to bringing accountability to the table. So what's the new guy like? Same as the old guy. Lots of promises and little delivery. Oh sure, they'll do just enough to placate the sheeple come election time - the only time looking good matters. Some will trip up and get kicked out, but only for lack of PR skill.
It's kind of like a trial. It's not about who was right and who was wrong, but who has the better lawyer. If he succeeds, more power to him and he'll have my congratulations among the many thanks of Americans everywhere. But he should keep in mind there are many ambitious criminals waiting in the wings for their shot at congressional stardom.
Finally! This is what the people have voted for. The people want to know where their hard earned money has gone and their children's and every generation to follow. The people have spoken ENOUGH!
The people are sick of the let's tax out of jobs and let's tax them into a much higher cost of living and all of the outrageous spending. ponzi scams and bailouts of this administration, starting back in the last two years of the bush administration. Half of all of the money spend during the entire Bush administration was spent in the last two democratically run years.
People are already having more faith in the new administration and lossening up their pocket books, faith in this country has restored.
HALLELUJAH!
Btw. It was the liar democratic short lived party in 2002 that voted this country into war so stop using that bs statement it only makes people look ignorant.
Hillary and evan buyh wanted to go to iraq and iran. Stop the bs nobody is buying it anymore.
I think about how much better off this country would have been if the democrats hadn't lied about fannie mae and freddie mac at the Bush congressional hearings. I think about how much better off this country would have been if bush had been allowed to set limitations on the banks like he wanted to but of course the democrats fought him tooth and nail. Hillary even said "Now you want to set limitations?" Again the democratic never ending spending machine fougth him every step of the way. I wonder how much better off this country would have been had the same old criminal democrats who keep getting elected over and over again had listend to bush instead of fighting him again when he was right.
I keep hearing the same old crap bush started the bailouts another democratic lie. Bills are written buy the majority in the house not the president! These bills were written by the same old criminals that keep getting voted in by the same old people who believe the same old lies.
I am looking forward to the republicans fixing all of the dog dirt that has been slung at this country by the big fat spender democrats.
This is not over this has only begun more democratic heads will roll. T.G.
Oh Sandy...how I love your putrid attempt to convey some sense of competence on this board. It is too bad you failed miserably! Unfortunately, I think what would be best (at least for your sake) would be for you to witness a purely republican run government. Then once you witness the epitome of how to perfectly dismantle an economy and middle class you will be hard pressed to blame democrats.
Luckily, most people (I do not think) are not dumb enough to allow republicans completely run government (I will stay tuned during my lifetime, though)
I'm glad to see the wingers selected a real "man of the people" for this position. They whine that the ones on the left are the "rich elitists". Well, here's your richest congressman, I bet he's not livin' in a one room apartment or hangs out with Joe 6 pack on the weekends. Hey, if they can spend millions (billions?) of dollars and thousands upon thousand of man hours to impeach Clinton for getting a BJ, whats stopping them from delving into every little accusation the baggers bring up, regardless of its stupidity (see Todd Pollard-1460881 above). Yet Bush and Cheney condone and allow torture, and aren't be brought up as war criminals. Oh well, this will bode well for 2012. Americans are quick to forget how F'ed up the R'pubs left things after 8 years, a couple years reminder of how they operate will work wonders for the Democrats. We look at France and Ireland, where the governments are trying to cut back services to save money, and we see the riots in the streets, and think that won't happen here. I think if the right starts their own austerity program, they will quickly find out just how fickle the American electorate can be. Yeah they might want spending cuts, but not if it effects THEIR income. So best of luck with that, feel free to start with the 3rd rail of social security, its only the largest expenditure of the budget. Then go for Medicare, its #3, The people will absolutely LOVE you for it!
You're funny.
Multiplayer.,
So you still think it is OK for a person in authority to have SEX (receive a BJ) from a employee???
This is the same clown who got Scgwartzy in as governor in Caifornia.
End the tax cuts for the rich and end the wars. That should nicely fix the budget. Why is this so hard to understand?
Is it any wonder some folks can't manage to balance their own checkbooks to save themselves either? ay yi yi
Should have thought about that before voting for teabaggers who want to outsource your jobs.
DM7741 #1.15,
I think it'll take more time than what you think it will. I'll be happy if Congress starts reining in government spending.
Looked at the debt clock lately?
http://www.usdebtclock.org/
Multiplayer. "Typical gop agenda when in power of congress"
Yeah - Sort of like the Democrats when they took control in 2006 and did non-stop investigations of the Bush Administration.
anti-trust proponent " this is the richest man in Congress.
I say go for it!
Louisana State University Federal Agency Directory lists over 1,300 distinct organizations across all three branches of federal government: Legislative branch (Congress); Executive branch (President and departments and independent agencies); and Judicial branch (Supreme Court and Circuit Courts). link: http://www.lib.lsu.edu/gov/fedgov.html
Read more: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_many_federal_agencies_are_there#ixzz16b20FkNV
Then lets pass a law stopping all ear marks, and special interest groups, cutting back on congressional spending and a whole lot more.
need an example? Migratory Bird Conservation Commission
Republican, Representative Darrell Issa of California, = puppet master
STFU - Smile :-)
Besides, do we really want Biden to become president? I don't think so.
PLEASE STEP AWAY FROM THE CAR
wonder how many loons will vow not to buy a Viper NOW lol . . . or trash the ones they already have (figures all the little yuppies would rather have their beamers stolen than to admit the GOP has ANY good ideas right!)
yep as Obama & Pelosi declared back in 2009 "We WON, you lost." seems their library card has since expired. will someone please tell Nancy to return her overdue books? and at least find an UPDATED edition of "It's The Economy Stupid 101" for President Obama
so you would rather pay a person to stamp the same piece of paper 5 times - and then another 5 government employees to stamp THE SAME piece of paper ANOTHER 5 times - before it even takes 3 people to file it? and then 4 employees to find it again a few days later . . . so they can start the same process all over again!
okay may be exaggerating a bit . . . but then again maybe NOT
yes I'd rather everyone be gainfully employed - than the alternative of having them trying to live on unemployment.
STexan, be careful not to lump all other users in an insulting manner per the Code of Honor.
This is just a warning.
thorn616, you are being suspended for a day for violating rule # 1 of the Code of Honor.
Politics, as usual -- and total BS!!
Obama has been show for what he is. The sharks have smelled the blood and are coming CLOSER. You can almost hear the JAWS theme music.
Where were the GOP & Issa? They were voting for two unfunded wars in the oil-laden Middle East and for Medicare Part D, all in the name of smaller government, of course...
jcb -
Wars that the democrats voted for as well, and voted for appropriations for.
It seems that you conveniently forget certain facts.
Selective amnesia?
You didn't read the article.
Same with you. You obviously didn't read the article. By the way, the charter for his committee is government oversight. I suppose you'd suggest that the executive branch operate without any? The only politics as usual is the left wing posts on the Vine.
Where was this jerk during the George W. Bush administration?
Basking in the glow of Republican victories and signing on all of Bush's spending.
This was only 2 years ago, how stupid does Issa think America is not to notice his two-face tactics
http://www.nctimes.com/news/local/article_30f2ef2d-3fdb-53a1-8b1e-bbdb9d3ae252.html
Sarah, I took the time to open the link you provided and read what it said. Here are some quotes from the article:
As you can see he specifically praised her for her handling of the prosecution of the Cunningham case. The article said the reason she was asked to resign was her failure to prosecute smugglers. The article also said Lam released a press statement that did not address why she was resigning nor did it say she was asked to resign. Remember I'm using the source you provided.
Oh and as the article you linked was written in Jan 2007 . . . it's almost FOUR years ago (which is when in fact SEVEN US Attorney Generals from across the country were being "dismissed"!! And the consensus is that the pressure came from much higher power sources than "a mere" Republican Senator!)
oops my bad lol
Issa is but "a mere" Republican REPRESENTATIVE . . . which is looked upon as even LOWER than a Senator of either party!
So we shall all have to wait & see what REPRESENTATIVE Issa can do in the next two years.
HistoryBuff, You may want to read the following link and consider it's merits.
http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.phptitle=Bush_administration_U.S._attorney_firings_controversy
Mary - the link doesn't work!
but there is little doubt that the firings/forced resignations of the US Attorney Generals in 2007 were politically motivated
and Issa may have been openly critical of Lam . . . but as a 6yr REPRESENTATIVE, I don't see that HE would have the clout to have her put on the hit list. those orders came from HIGHER sources!
I believe the justification went something like "the federal judges serve at the wishes/whim of the President" (and Rove's fingerprints were all over the "marching orders"!)
if you've been following "Issa's political career" at all - it appears that he thoroughly relishes being in the limelight & generally being "a thorn in opponents sides"! plus apparently he has quite the knack for picking the most controversial issues
. . . however at this point - we've had so many crooks & liars on both sides of the aisle in Washington - that IF ANY OF THEM can actually accomplish ANYTHING to help reduce the deficit AND finally FULLY FOCUS on the ECONOMY & JOBS -- I could care less if they were even related to Richard Nixon!!
the majority of Americans were willing to give the Democrats a chance in 2006 & 2008. in 2010 - it appears that they are willing to give the GOP a SECOND CHANCE . . . so now it remains to be seen whether the Republicans have truly learned their lesson or not?!
as 2012 is ALREADY looming on the horizon . . .
The floor is yours.
You expected less? This is a continuation of their vendetta against the best President we have had in a while.
The teabaggers have been totally punked. The unemployment rate is right about where the thugs want it. Wages can be lowered, unions busted, middle-class laughed at. They have been used just like the religious right was during the shrub years. Thanks baggers. Stupidity reins supreme!!
Ever wonder what would happen if glen limbaugh actually got an education?? lol..
Danceman,
I see Saul Alinsky is your favorite author. Typical communist post. You Communists have wrecked America slowly over the last several decades. Its not the Democrat party it is the Communist party. If you call yourself a Democrat in all reality you are a Communist.
Well, we know Brad hasn't gotten an education.
I wonder if he's actually read Alinsky...
Nazis, Puritans, McCarthy-ites, The Inquisition. All the evils of conservatism are coming to us. Good Luck, America.
Problem is, I also tend to agree with your assessment of the eventual outcomes...
logdump- Very perseptive!! They are almost there! (teabaggers been punked)
logdump -
What is it with your fixation on 'teabaggers'? It seems like you're a bit jealous of them.
Hope you like hearing about Obama's birth certificate, America.
No value. Grow up.
Uh oh, looks like someone really does want to hear about Obama's birth certificate.
oh please, this just shows how ignorant you really want to be.
Issa is an American hero -- just the kind of man we need to rescue America from the horrendous ideas of liberal overspending Democrats!!
While he is looking for things to CUT, did you notice he said they "can't cut his Staff"? Nope, another *everything and everybody but ME*.
Independent Voter -
FYI - The democrats are still in control of the House until January.
You liberals must be really getting nervous.
YOUR job.
Agree!!!!
Actually, both sides of the aisle are responsible for sending jobs overseas. You need to climb out from under your rock so you can see the entire picture.
GOP stands for Gestapo!
I am so glad Issa is going to investigate and supeona the crimminals in the Obama goverment, hopefully it will end with the impeachment of Obama himself.
Obama's crimes which must be investigated ----
Obama is systematically dismantling the U.S. economy
Obama Exhibit's Potential as a Marxist Dictator
Obama is weakening America's defenses
Obama appears to be thoroughly incompetent
Obama hates America
Obama has appointed czars, a feature of Communist Russia
Obama has nationized the banks
Obama has Nationalized General Motors and Chrysler
Preferential Treatment of the Black Panthers
Obama is not a natural born citizen
Obama does have a valid Social Security number
Gosh such zeal. You must have just woken up with a bad case of amnesia from the last 8 years of Bush driving our country to economic ruin; and the loss of so many young lives fought in vain in Iraq.
Your stupid rant of Obama not having a valid SSN is sickening when so many young men went to their deaths because of Bush lying about the war. Your priorities are really messed up.
Learn to think for yourself. Copy and paste is obvious.
You're preaching to a bunch of libbys on here Todd...they're afraid any investigations will prove the used car salesman they all voted for will uncover just that...he is a used car salesman and nothing more (unless you throw in racist, anti American ,narcissist, and illegal muslim).
Wow, I make fun of the birthers in one post and just a few posts later there's actually a serious one. Amazing.
Obama's crimes which must be investigated
Which crimes? Attacking a country and overthrowing a government for no reason…oh, that was Bush.
Obama is systematically dismantling the U.S. economy
Since Obama took office, the US economy has been growing, not shrinking every quarter. Unemployment is down, employment is up and retail sales is higher than in the past five years (consumerism is our national product).
Obama Exhibit's Potential as a Marxist Dictator
Look up Marxist Dictator and then get back to us with specifics to support your claim.
Obama is weakening America's defenses
Obama has not changed one single National Security Policy and has even toughened some security. Your statement is complete hogwash that even O'reilly would call you an idiot for saying.
Obama appears to be thoroughly incompetent
At what?
Obama hates America
This statement does nothing more than make you look like a moron.
Obama has appointed czars, a feature of Communist Russia
The President that first created the job of "Czar" was Reagan. Was he a Communist?
Obama has nationized the banks
That was the Bush Administration genius.
Obama has Nationalized General Motors and Chrysler
Not only did his move keep them from going belly up, but it allowed them to restructure and go public raising so much stock that US is no longer a major share holder…..try reading a newspaper sometime.
Preferential Treatment of the Black Panthers
Where did you come up with this one?
Obama is not a natural born citizen
Birther huh? That explains your other reasoning skills
Obama does have a valid Social Security number
So do I, you don't?
"Obama has appointed czars, a feature of Communist Russia"
HUH?
Actually the Russian commies overthrew the Czars. I think you're confused. Or you just put some related terms "Czars, Russia, Communist" together and came up with bulls**t?
@Todd Pollard
Todd, you sir, are what my father use to call a "dinkhead."
Nice job, Ivan.
I'm so glad that Obama has a valid social security number, why, I can't say enough about it.
I went and reviewed your profile. I think I understand now.
All too well.

Thanks for the laugh!...hahahahahahahahaha
Here is the link for the entire history of Social Security.
http://www.ssa.gov/history/briefhistory3.html
BTW, This conversation just ended. If I was lazy, I wouldn't have done it. You just ramble on brilliant one
Huh?
why weren't there any watchdogs looking into all the things bush did?
too bad he cant be tried as a war criminal, he is a mass murderer plain and simple.
then not to mention, he ruined the country and economy.
everyone in the world hates americans thanks to bush.
That's right Rock, and we the people need new representation, and its not from the "teaparty", they certainly turned republican in a lightening flash.
they were absorbed; power corrupts, doesn't it?
Hey Joe,
How long have you been working on Issa's staff?
Just curious! =o)
Yes, thank you. Someone who read the article. I've never seen such pack mentality as the folks who came out and posted here. It's rabid and somewhat queered up. Do you think they actually LIKE the government to waste money? Very strange.
Here is a few things I would like investigated:
God, who voted for these morons?
You are blaming the wrong guy!!!!!!
Maggie,
Rock was hiding under a rock and listening to Fox News.
LOL
The majority
Transfered money to the wealthy?? What?? What???
Maggie- you are the half-informed one; what you say is true, but unfortunately not educated enough to know a full truth. I am blaming both parties: I am more of a democratic socialist than anything; Obama's policies carry over Bush policies in their entirety. Geitner was head of the fed under the Bush regime.
Geithner is not head of the Fed, Bernanke is, and you are correct he was appointed by GWB. Geithner is Treasury Secretary.
Congratulations Issa, you got your name in the papers. Nobody really cares about this little guy, but he seems to think he's king of something.
Doubt I hear much about him in the next two years.
You are wrong, we are going to hear plenty about him. He thinks he was just elected King.
Birth certificate?.... let's talk about Barry Goldwater who was born in the AZ territory.... that was going around when I was a kid.....
And if you believe this guy, I have a bridge I can sell you really cheap!
Actually Rangel wanted to delay his investigation but the panel refused.
Didn't the republicans just do that?
wow-this guy can't even put a sentence together.
