There are a lot of people out there who are easily influenced by that political hatred in the news today. The last thing we need are crosshairs on districts and candidates firing guns in campaigns. Insanity. Children dying over this. Inncoent people targeted over political agendas. What have we come to? May God bless the souls lost today.

I am so sorry for the familys loss and that there life had to be cut short. I am glad we cought the shooter. We need to really work at finding out there motivation. I AM not a Dem. supporter. However that is no reason for vilonce.
Who cares what his motivation is? There is never any excuse for this kind of action and violence! 6 people dead, including a 9 year girl? Do we really need to know what this nut was thinking? Come on.

I also pray for the leaders and media personal of this country that feel that it is okay to make bold statements about arming yourself against the government and putting targets on others. God loves all of us and never passed judgement, why are we passing judgement on each other rather than working together to make this country a better place for all of us to live? The tongue is the most deadly weapon that we have today.
What is is about trying to do things the non-violent, compassionate way that inflames ultra narrow minded people??? Preaching religious dogma/doctrine and standing on ritual or political "ideology" to justify exclusion of whole groups of other people, is fertile ground for growing the seeds of hate used to justify KILLING. I truly hope that this gut wrenching event brings some goodness out of it for the sake of the families affected directly.

As one struggling to overcome the impact domestic violence has had in my life, I know all too well that even when the physical wounds are healed, the emotional scarring takes years to overcome. We have allowed a climate of hate in the U.S. I cry for the dead and the wounded and pray that we still stand up and demand a stop to the rhetoric of hate and violence. As long as we don't put a stop to this hatred of people who may disagree with us, we are all guilty. I couldnt agree more with your comments, I am an Arizonan and I respect this woman very much. Truly, my prayers are with her and all the others who where cut down by this madman. What is happening in this country? So much hate! Certain people think this is OK? It makes me physically ill. Sarah Palin should be ashamed of herself. I also believe she should be publicly denounced for her actions.

I don't see it as a tragedy. i see it as a crime. Not only by the sicko who shot these people, but by all the people he spoke with and listened to who exhorted him to violence, who demonized people with different points of view, who put gun targets on Democrats and then said they weren't exhorting people to actually shoot any of them, by right-wing pundits who spew hatred and insanity to their mentally unstable followers, by extremists of all stripes.
DD, you are right, it is clearly a crime. However, the criminal act created the tragedy. I too don't understand people who incite violence as a solution in this or any other situation.
