I hope she wins a majority of the primaries. This way we could watch the Republican convention where the power brokers in the party would have to figure out how keep Sarah from getting the nomination while giving the nod to someone that had a shot at winning in the national election.
My suggestion is to invest in popcorn. Prices should go up given the potential for demand.
I also hope she gets the nomination - I also hopes she wins. If every single person in this country doesnt disregard and chase her back into her hole (which they havent) - then we deserve what we get.
Exceptional countries require exceptional leaders... not mealy-mouthed, testosterone-charged, immature bullies who enjoy inciting hubbub more than undertaking the actual work it takes to run an exceptional country. Go back to Alaska, Sarah, if they'll have you. You're nothing more than a rabble-rouser.
MSN you are making a mountain out of a mole hill - no body cares and here you are cramming the topic down your visitors throats... I'd say the editor has a thing for Sarah...
By Palin's own words: Each individual is accountable for their words and actions. Her recent comment using the insensitive phrase, "blood libel," is most insensitive to the Jewish religion which Gabby is a member, and the use of the phrase indicates another derogatory slap in Gabby's face. Our great Country does not need to be brought down with such bullying, school yard brawling, and vitriolic behavior. The U.S. does not need a Presidential candidate with such crass, insensitive, and intellectually uniformed vitriolic comments that belongs in the trashy tabloid media. It is the responsibility of the citizens to not condone such despicable behavior from any leader or potential leader when they use a map of cross-hairs, etc. over anyone disagreeing with them. Such tactics are used by insecure, control freak gestapos, which no country really needs or wants.
you people are like a bunch or piranha ripping away the flesh of its prey or rabid dogs not caring who or what is in the way. omg Thanks MSNBC, Krueger, Clinton, CNN
Slow down I am sure there is enough blood and flesh around for you to chew
Blind hate, hope everyone feels better and proud of their meaningful contribution!!!
She is not a serious politician. She is a political celebrity/entrepreneur, collecting money from her fans to fund herself and sell her brand.
In her video, she decided to appear partisan and opportunistic. She accused her enemies of acting in bad faith. Not only that, she, somehow, raised the rhetorical stakes by charging her opponents with manufacturing a "blood libel," language associated with centuries of anti-Semitic murder. I bet she didn't know the historical genesis of the phrase. Which merely makes her recklessly careless in a time of national mourning.
Why was this article written about Palin running for President? I want the focus to stay on her "reload" quip, hunting clips, gun scopes and her tasteless political-target map until she's the poster child for "bloody libel".
Say what you want about Palin but I wouldnt mind seeing a Girls of the Tea Party pin-up calendar. Palin, Christine McDonnell, Michelle Bachmann, Nikki Haley. I have never seen a collection of more beautiful women in politics.
I know looks doesnt usually always translate into long successful political careers, but in the case of these "Mama Grizzlies," it sure doesnt hurt.
Recall Pauline Hanson (Australia - One Nation, late '90's). Nobody knew her base better than Pauline did. Look where she is (they are) now. Marginalized, where they deserve to be in accordance with the democratic guiding principles of that country. Wake up America. Ignorance begets ignorance.
A President, who holds the highest position in our country should also embody the highest standards of conduct, intelligence, broadmindedness, trust worthy, and sensitivity to to the needs of all constituents. Palin has demonstrated none of these qualities of behavior. Far too often her actions and words speak a hatred and violence for those disagreeing with her. She is so severely lacking with calm, eloquent, and intellectual debating skills without the condescending tone that is so often heard nowadays in the campaign ads, speeches, etc. among some politicians and media. We are so sick and tired of the childish bickering demonstrated in the campaigns and media that accomplishes very little, except for disgust, distaste, and a lack of trust. All politicians and the public media should hold higher standards of conduct than has been displayed during the past decade.
"The secret has been broken. The Jews do not own the language. They do not have permission to take offense when others use the language."
Sobi: I'm not Jewish and I was offended by her use of that term given its historical context. By using that phrase, she's trying to portray herself as a victim by comparing herself to the Jews persecuted for centuries by myths such as "blood libel".......attitudes that existed in Europe right up to the holocaust. The question, sir, is why you are not offended by that specious comparison.
Say what you want about Palin but I wouldnt mind seeing a Girls of the Tea Party pin-up calendar. Palin, Christine McDonnell, Michelle Bachmann, Nikki Haley.
And therein is the rights fascination with these idiots (with the exception of Haley - who doesnt appear to be too crazy). Not intellect - not character - not ideas - simply looks.
Don, because the ADL has already reared its head and spewed forth with the Jewish offense taking because Sarah used a term the Jews have strangely decided can no longer be used outside of a reference to them.
I made no assumption you were Jewish. I was referring to the obnoxious claim on language you were asserting.
Sarah Palin who is nothing more than Todd's puppet on a string has no agenda or strategy other than fame and money. She obviously does not give a hoot about this country in any way. The Palin's are filling their pockets as quickly as they can. She is a dumb dumb and refuses to debate, talk or meet with anyone who can expose her inability to have a grown up, intelligent discussion.
After listening to Obama's speech last night, I am so inspired by his intelligence and tact. You don't hear the trailer trash kind of rhetoric coming out of his mouth. He is truly an inspiring man.
Sarah and Todd, you are a joke. GO AWAY AND QUIT STEALING THE TIME OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND SPREADING YOUR HATE.
How can one woman with such big feet fit both of them into that big mouth all the time, every time? Yeesh. She should have shut her yap while she was ahead.
Mike...the right's fascination with the Tea Party is the result of 80 years of expanding government. The disgust and discontent within the Republican party by conservatives has been mounting for years. Reagan started it with his amnesty for illegals in '86 and it kept slowly boiling since then. Bush's passage of the Patriot Act (which was Biden's idea initially in the 90's in response to the OKC bombing) only accelerated the anger.
People seem to think that the rights and liberties being taken away by passing laws such as the Patriot Act and soon-to-be-introduced gun control legislation in the wake of the Tucson tragedy will make them safer and prevent such calamities in the future. I can assure you they will not. The notion of not letting a good crisis go to waste is alive and well in both parties and it must stop.
The Tea Party serves as a culmination of sorts as the remedy of the collective disgust within the Republican Party. The RINOs have moved the party too far left. The progressives have moved the Democrats too far left. As one of Newtons laws of motion states, the equal and opposite reaction of all this leftist movement is the rise of the Tea Party.
There's nothing wrong with the Republican party that a little self-effacement won't cure. Palin, like McCain, is never going to be the Republican's fairhaired child. In actuality, Republicans now more than ever have an opportunity to move away from vitrolic rhetoric, political battling and restore their grace and balance in a way that isn't biased toward ideology. If they don't learn to drop that ideology crappola, they will continue to lose more and more of the stable base they once had.
After reading all the views on sarah palin i have concluded that all you over paid college educated idiots have nothing better to do than disect anything or anyone who is not a hardcore liberal.
oh by the way obama has speech writers he just reads the words.
If anyone is interested in actual debate and not random argument...and speaking on a purely strategic level...
The problem as it stands is that Obama has, in a short 2 years of Presidency, pushed or tried to push through a number of very radical (in terms of change to the status quo) agenda items that have had an extreme polarizing effect (hence, the birth of the tea party, mid term election results, etc). He, as it stands, and depending on what the next 2 years with a Republican house leads to, is beatable in a Presidential election...it will no doubt be a fight, but he won't draw the numbers of traditional non-voters he did the first time around and he also lost part of his voting base (I'd estimate a fairly large part).
Now, to the Palin for President issue...if you need someone who can pick up the middle- why would the Republicans put up someone who is just as polarizing as Obama? When given the choice between a mid-line or slightly right of right Republican (but not Palin) and Obama...trust me, they're not going to vote for Obama (think about it- how many people voted for Kerry because he wasn't Bush). Theres no strategic advantage to putting Palin up. I hope she realizes however, that she does play an important fundraising role- because every time she opens her mouth- she'll get the hard right to open their wallets. Palin can't be considered a serious choice because Republicans are going to have to pick up a lot in the middle and with a good candidate- that shouldn't be too hard.
So- let her play by her own rules- her future job is as a pundit- not a president...
dawg2...President Obama has speech writers like every other president. You got a problem with that? Try and read a script with no emotion. See how fast no one pays attention to you. People like you need to stop and admit you have a President who deserves your respect. If you can't respect this president, move to North Korea. In that country, you won't have a choice whether or not the leader gets respect from you. Time to end the nastiness. It's old news and fishwrap.
Father Coughlin, Huey Long, Joe McCarthy and George Wallace
I never expected to meet another person on these boards who knew enough history to name such minority Renegades. (You might have included that famous Dixiecrat Strom Thurmond.)
Mostly these boards simply display how remarkable ignorant Americans are of their own history.
STOP IT!!! Sarah Palin WILL NEVER BE THE NOMINEEE of any party or in any national election. The only people force feeding this buffoon on the American people DAILY is the damn media, especially MSNBC and CNN. This woman has NO CHANCE of getting the nomination of the republican party, it's just the "left" would love her to. Keep dreaming liberals, never happen. Independants are the LARGEST voting block in this country, larger than Dem's or Repub's, and how does she do amongst the largest voting block??, she's in SINGLE digits, trailing a half dozen others. SO STOP FORCE feeding this clown on us because you are in fact the one playing games here on the American people. Palin couldn't be elected national "dog catcher", and dreaming so does not make it so!
Say what you want about Palin but I wouldnt mind seeing a Girls of the Tea Party pin-up calendar. Palin, Christine McDonnell, Michelle Bachmann, Nikki Haley. I have never seen a collection of more beautiful women in politics."
....Good God! Are you familiar with the term "shallow"? Did you know that some of the most poisonous animals and plants in this world are also very attractive so as to entice their unsuspecting victims to their doom? How old are you?
When Sarah said "don't retreat," that was just her way of saying "get an all-weather flag for the flagpole so we don't have to take it down at night." And when she said "reload," she clearly meant "reload up your truck with the new flag." HUGE difference.
And really, come on guys, those weren't crosshairs! They were lower-case T's that were circled for emphasis. T's for Tolerance!
MIke ....thats quite a broad brush you are painting with."
....Perhaps, but I've seen other comments like yours, even got an email from a misguided soul with whom I went to school, showing pictures of all the Tea Party ladies saying why that makes the GOP the better party (there are no bounds to stupidity, apparently).
....There is an old saying, "If the shoe fits......."
John McCain shall henceforth be known as Dr. Frankenstein because he's responsible for the creation of this monster.
That is funny.
I think even McCain didn't think this monster would take life on its own. The choice to pick her was clearly an attempt to attract women voters. It was a calculated PR move that backfired. Unfortunately for him, she quickly became a liability.
I was hopeful after last nights speech that id come here today to find a different tone struck. No such luck.
Anywho, Regarding Sarah Palin - it'll be interesting to see what happens in the next year or so. I think she had an amazing chance to appear extremely presidential in this video she made, and it seems she didnt really want to do that. I havent watched the entire video yet, but what i've seen doesnt strike the right tone to me. The use of Blood Libel was highly offensive - and even more so if it's true she doesnt understand the history of that word. Claiming ignorance, when you are potentially seeking the highest office in the country, is irresponsible in my opinion.
On the other hand, I thought Obama hit the exact perfect tone - and was extremely humble and well thought out on the subject of debating the rhetoric in this country. He was a leader last night...and it was a good thing to see.
What is it with Liberals and Ms Palin? All of you Liberals have completely missed the point. SP had nothing to do with the shootings, the shooter was actually a Liberal himself. Did you all forget in your rush to judgement that a beautiful 9 year old child was shot?, that others were shot and died too?
How pathetic the Left is. You should all be ashamed of yourselves!!!!!! Main Stream Media and the Left have taken this tragedy and have twisted it into a political horror show. And why, because the Left are a bunch of sour cry babys that can't stand the fact they are on the Loser side.
How disgusting they handed out free t-shirts and cheered at what was supposed to be a memorial service. How disgusting and pitiful that the President of the USA would turn a memorial service that was supposed to honor and remember the fallen into a political rally with free t-shirts and re-election propaganda. But hey, at least the Right has showed real class in the wake of these events.
The Left should be ashamed of themselves. If you really think long and hard, about the morals and lessons your parents taught you, the way the Left and the Main Stream Media played this, even your own leader Obama had to tell the Left to chill out. And if you think "Blood Libel" is a Jewish term, read the quote below from the highly respected Liberal Jewish Lawyer and Harvard Prof. Allen Dershowitz
"The term “blood libel” has taken on a broad metaphorical meaning in public discourse. Although its historical origins were in theologically based false accusations against the Jews and the Jewish People, its current usage is far broader. I myself have used it to describe false accusations against the State of Israel by the Goldstone Report. There is nothing improper and certainly nothing anti-Semitic in Sarah Palin using the term to characterize what she reasonably believes are false accusations that her words or images may have caused a mentally disturbed individual to kill and maim. The fact that two of the victims are Jewish is utterly irrelevant to the propriety of using this widely used term."
What about Reagan tripling the deficit during his tenure? What about him trading guns for soldiers? What about him arming Osama Bin laden to fend off the Russians?
What about 2 unfunded wars (1 built on lies), growing government, increasing spending while cutting taxes?
And you people are just NOW sick of government? Look in the mirror.
Good grief! For the past 3 days I've read the vine. The hypocrisy is relentless!! The very people that claim Palin is a TV glory-hound, BRING her back in the spotlight because she used crosshairs over states to target candidates (something the democrats have done - both sides do it - enough!). Then complain that she's in the media again. They know darn well she will have comments/defense, which... drags... the... story... out... even... further. If you can't stand her so much - quit bringing her up! It's like these stories are written for people to vent on how much they can't stand her. Grow up - you're acting no better.
Second, you should be ashamed! There were 6 people killed - INCLUDING A NINE YEAR OLD - who haven't even had funerals yet and many of you are spewing such vile hatred on both sides, it's sickening. This story should not have come out when it did. If I were a family member of one of the victims I would be furious with the media and of those (on both sides) using this for political gain.
An Independent Thinker (1.14), I agree. Except I haven't seen that from any serving president for more like 20 years. I wasn't old enough to vote during the Reagan years, but recall the tone of the country was much better by his second term. After that, the Iran hearings, "read my lips, no new taxes", "I did not have sex with that woman", Whitewater, 2 wars and a recession as some examples. Now we have a president who doesn't listen and lies to the American people, speaks of bipartisanship but doesn't practice it himself, and gets in the middle of a conflict between a professor and a cop (by telling the world that the cop, who was performing his duty as he was trained, acted stupidly).
I'm not sticking up for Palin. I don't think she deserves the media attention - good and bad. I somewhat agree and I can relate to her, but doesn't mean I support or would vote for her. I wish the tea party hadn't let her speak for them. I don't think she's the horrible monster everyone makes her out to be though.
I find it interesting that the TP was created AFTER Obama got elected. Would TP have started if McSame got elected?
McCain would have clearly continued the same faled Bush policies. His voting record clearly shows that. Of course he did move away from Bush later during his campaign when it was no longer beneficial to be associated with Bush.
And let's not forget Bush's accomplishements:
President Bush created a Medicare drug entitlement that will cost an estimated $800 billion in its first decade.
President Bush expanded the federal budget by a historic $700 billion through 2008.
President Bush became the first President to spend 3 percent of GDP on federal antipoverty programs.
President Bush presided over a $2.5 trillion increase in the public debt through 2008. Setting aside 2009.
President Bush increased federal education spending 58 percent faster than inflation.
Bush came into office with an advantage few presidents have enjoyed -- a $230 billion surplus. But due to a $1.35 trillion tax cut in 2001, a $1.5 trillion tax cut in 2003, and a massive defense buildup through the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, Bush quickly blew through that surplus.
These are just few examples. So, the question is: where was Tea Party during Bush years?
....Got news for you Mark, it's not just liberals, a lot of us independent (even GOP) moderates can't stand her either. It's obvious she's out for the money, as well as being a hypocrite, liar and opportunist. That doesn't mean she won't try a run at the presidency, because she knows there enough fools out there to contribute $$$ to her coffers. Now don't come back and call me a liberal or a DEM, I am not and don't like them. If you told some of my friends that I was liberal, they'd laugh in your face. I'm for the Middle Class in this country, people like Palin are not.
She thinks the media started all of this i say not , when i first heard of this the first thing that pop in my mind was sarah palin and the speeches she gave and her web site , Iam not blaming her but if i remember what she said whats a waco going to do just make you think .
oskar...If you thought that President Obama was speaking to rocks, you are insulting the 14,000 people of AZ who attended. President Obama was speaking to Americans. The only rocks I see are the ones you can't seem to hurdle so that you can join the rest of your fellow Americans in offering our sympathies to the people of AZ and those who were most affected by this terrible tragedy.
President Obama is your president. If you can't stand behind him, move to North Korea. The offerings for rocks there are just up your alley.
My God...You people just can't help yourselves can you? Sarah Palin has every RIGHT to address the UNFAIR, HATEFUL, THREATENING, and actual DEATH THREATS towards her and her family that have overtaken your lynch mob mentality. You INSIST on making something out of nothing..just so you can get your fangs into her and get your pound of flesh. The majority of you people making such a fuss over the words "blood libel" don't/didn't even know what it meant...yet you just took upon yourselves to rant and scream and get hysterical over it. NOW you're trying to make it an anti-sematic thing. Alan Dershowitcz, a Jew, said that this ANCIENT term fits in this instance. It is not offensive to him.
So she's making money from her books and speeches. I guess the other politicians who DO THE SAME are paid in live chickens?? Do you people get paid for what YOU DO? If you dare take money, then I guess, shame on you.
The double standard from the media and the left is what is causing this polarization in the country. NOT just one little woman. WHY you have to pick one scape goat and then go at her like a pack of hungry wolves is just criminal..
All this B.S. about "crosshairs" "targets" on a map. Well, the DEMOCRATS did EXACTLY the same thing "targeting" states and seats that they wanted to focus on to win. Okay for THEM? Where was all the ranting about that? Just hypocrites those of you who turn a blind eye to the left, and red devil's eye in the other direction. NO ONE but your "people" are entitled to have an opinion??? Is that it??? Sure it is....
It seems so sad that all anyone can do it criticize Palin. And our president has asked for people to be civil. I guess that only means as long as Palin, or any other conservative American isn't in the news.
I love hypocrites, and we know where to find them:)
I will vote for her. We are doing SOOOO well with Obummer as president. Please tell me what he has done, besides putting us so far in debt we will never get out. So she speaks her mind. So what. She has a backbone. Good for her. Articulation is not a requirement of being president. Being a naturalized citizen is, but we won't go there. Obummer is still an empty suit. You wanted change-you got it, and by the barrel loads! He is no leader. Many of you need to look up what the definition of leadership is. Actually, I believe the best president is probably some small town guy/girl who isn't even considering the job! They are the ones who live with the people. They don't have the Ivy League education and fancy degrees. Obummer was a lawyer...remember? And we all know how much respect we have for them.
Well, guess the president was wasting his time when he asked for a toning down of the political rhetoric, at least from reading most of these posts. Seems to me that the problem isn't really with Palin and the radical right. The problems seem more that the radical left can't stop themselves from bashing Palin or anyone else whose political ideologies differ from theirs.
I'm not generally a fan of much of the president's politics, however, I was impressed with the president last night, his speech was exactly what was needed. If he continues in this vein I will definitely reconsider my opinions of him. Too bad those needing to hear it weren't listening.
Mark Knight............what you say is true, however you miss a slight point...you are refering to politicans...that know no wrong in their own minds. THey will do or say whatever they believe will enhance their agendas...the real problem comes in as to whether or not the general public wants to see what is said by all politicans as meaningful or just words. Palin is no different..she is a want to be politican...the idea of being much more than she is drives her blindly...as way too many of the elected we have today in washington who also feel that they know better what is good for us all...problem with that however is...their own gratification comes first and foremost...if the general public gets served well then fine, if not so what.
Listen to all of you people you are the ones who create the situation along with the media.
1. If you yell in the forest will anyone hear you? The same thing with Palin who cares what she says.
2. The Congress and senators have left our country in such disarray that they keep up all this Derrek to keep the our eyes off what is really going on.
3. Guess what it is too late for them do do anything about it the United States is
1. too far in debt to get out. it will take generations of brilliant people to get us back on tract and i do not think those people have been born yet!.
2. the money the country is spending on other country's problems is senseless except for the lobbyists corrting the Congress and Ssenators to go to these areas and spend the money so their companies can make the money.
3. Take your blinders off. And ask what the fuc did they do and lets get rid of the lobbyists let the Congress and senators do what is best for the United States legal citizens if they can with out self gain!!!
4. Guess what I don not think they can change, I do not think that they are smart enough to make the changes or what changes to make.
1. stop buying Chinese goods no matter how cheap it is all of there products are cheap @!$%# that will break the second you use it or will kill you from the harmful materials they use.
2. do not worry about insulting other country's on protocol start worrying about what is best for the united states.
3. Look at Iraq no wonder the former government ruled with an iron fist the people are nuts we have given our best soldiers, money, security and they are still fucing it up.
4. Look at Afghanistan we are still giving our best soldiers, money and security and they are taking money from Iran. Can our leaders be bigger pussys? come on now folks.
Again I do not believe we have the leaders that are looking out for our best interest! what about health care i thought we all instead of paying Kaiser, or blue cross we would pay Uncle Sam and get our national card to get what ever we need done. But that was too easy they fuced that up from lobbyist.
In forign countrys I do feel that some of them do have it right when they screw over the citizens in such a large scope they are.
1. killed or
2. commit suicide but we have pussys who will continue to take the country far far far in the hole while they are sipping brandy with Kathylee in the hamptons and wonder what the poor people are doing.
Palins map is a rehash of the dems earlier map, Palin has crosshairs, the Dems had targets so what?
Everyone seems to forget that Palin was blamed immediatly along with Beck and Fox. who was jumping to conclusions? the Dems and their puppets at Msnbc and other left wing outlets.
And dont forget the master conclusion jumper, Obama, who sided with the proffessor against the police without any facts . who pushed health care and tarp and bailouts without the facts. And what about the idiot sheriff , blaming the right without any facts or any allegations even , only his own opinion
The left only wants to complain about anything the right does, even when they themselves did the same thing earlier
People can say what they want about Palin but I consider her a bit smarter than the left gives her credit for which is why they fear her. After all, the radical left wouldn’t expend so much effort attacking her if they didn’t fear her.
That said, I think this country would be better served if she didn’t run for president because, while smarter than the left gives her credit for, she’s not up to the task of the presidency.
So all that remains are the incessant attacks on Palin and other conservatives still attempting to somehow attach them (despite a preponderance of evidence to the contrary) to the shooting in Arizona. This is an exercise in irrationality at best and an attempt by the progressive/socialists to profit from the spilled blood of the victims.
It sure didn't take the libs long to forget Obama's message of civil disagreements did it? I wake up this morning to :
"Also, the sight of Yosemite Sarah's face fills me with anger and disgust."
"How can one woman with such big feet fit both of them into that big mouth all the time, every time? Yeesh. She should have shut her yap while she was ahead."
"Exceptional countries require exceptional leaders... not mealy-mouthed, testosterone-charged, immature bullies who enjoy inciting hubbub more than undertaking the actual work it takes to run an exceptional country. Go back to Alaska, Sarah, if they'll have you. You're nothing more than a rabble-rouser."
and my favorite....
"Carah Palin is a sunt."
Clearly you don't understand that this vitriol and hatred for people you don't agree with is what led us to the attempted murder of an elected official, not to mention the death of a little girl and 5 others. But both sides continue their campaign to have the other wiped from the planet because of a disagreement in philosophy, and sooner or later, this is going to happen again.
Palin either used the term blood libel without knowing the meaning or she did it on purpose as it has been speculated.
If she didnt know what the word means and she was just showcasing that wonderful 118 IQ then she isnt qualified to be in the White House.
If she did it on purpose then she is the worst example of American society. She would epitomize the kick a person while they are down mentality. How could someone attack a persons ethnicity while they are in a hospital with a bullet hole in their head.
Sarah Palin is a goon plain and simple. It scares me that she could be in the White House. The only good thing would be that our country would move to NG instead of coal and oil. She has to pay the industry that created her.
I don't suppose any of you actually took the words "literally"? Meaning, in essence: Trying to make me and/or my actions liable for the bloodshed...
For those of you who think Palin is little more than an airhead this vitriol is quite funny because you are giving her credit for being much more of a "deep thinker" than your comments express otherwise.
Not being a literary scholar, I would never grasped this arcane usage... Do the "haters" have some sort of software that scans speeches looking for stuff like this to start mud slinging?
I'm betting that until someone brought this antiquated definition to light that 99.9% of the public listening to or reading her words would have never made the connection either.
I wouldn't vote for Sarah for President but I'm glad she is out there cutting through all of the political correctness and bringing things into the light of day. Someone needs to cut through the BS and tell it like it is...
Amazing! With the exception of a few REAL Americans that won't be baited into this incessant immature bickering, it appears that the majority of the people around here are still much more interested in pointing fingers, calling names, and assigning blame, than they are trying to heal wounds, cross lines to find common ground, and speaking in a mature manner. It is obvious that the words of the President, whether written by him or not, were heart felt and delivered as such. A true leader has reached his hand out to ask each American to help heal the wounds that years, evens decades, of polarization has caused, yet there are those that would snap at that hand like a rabid dog. The day is coming when all of us real Americans will stand up and put the rabid dogs to heel. Debate can be had without name calling and hate laced remarks. Leaders are supposed to lead by example, and when our children see what our leaders say to each other, and then what we say... how can we be surprised at how they turn out with such a bad outlook on things?
Since this is a Sarah Palin thread, I will address her "Blood Libel" usage. There are those who are insulted, and then those who attack the others as being too sensitive about its history. The simple fact of the matter, there are so many other phrases that can be used to replace this that there is no excuse for using one that has the word "blood" in it, considering how much was spilled in Tuscon. I am not mad with her, but I find it very irresponcible. For one who has designs on being a leader, more thought needs to be put into what is uttered from one's mouth. You may disagree with what I say, but I simply ask that you do so as an American, and not an angry animal.
PappaDave, I agree with your comments. I never even saw it, but that's because I don't follower her much anyway. With how this all unfolded, one would think the left follows her more than anyone else!
Just in case someone missed this comment, it's reposted here. Agreed 100%... and on top of that, this comment brought to mind the fact of what we did NOT see in the aftermath of Arizona:
People of the Jewish faith and/or Jewish by birth attaching this shooting to their own state of affairs.
Palin's remarks drew more ire from our Jewish citizens. No hysterical conclusions were drawn over the shooting, even though this loon read Hitler and shot a Jewish congresswoman. Rather, the intentional (although given it is Palin, sheer stupidity cannot be ruled out) use of an offensive historical term. These folks are smart enough to connect the dots when the dots need connecting.
Just can't let go of Palin...seems like some pathologically obsessive behaviours posting here...guess the President was wasting his time when he requested that Americans unite and tone down the rhetoric, apparently some people are psychologically incapable of not obsessing...
You all really don't know how this works, do you? You attack Mrs. Palin, and then she can say that she is being attacked, and who doesn't want to defend a woman? Especially when she says things that you like. If there was no longer this "attack" mentality, there would no longer be this strategy, thus weaker leaders and publicity seekers would disappear. Those able to speak on topics and not rely strictly on emotions, would be your representatives. Discussions, not finger pointing and mud-slinging, would be the norm of the day, but it all has to start at our level. It has to be what we tolerate. What we ALLOW them to do. If you want the status quo and you want nothing to change, you are no American.
I really don't see how you can call Huey Long, Joe McCarthy, or George Wallace minor historical footnotes. Each one of them holds a place in the history of this country. The only reason they'll become minor historical footnotes is because the Texas Textbook people will write them out of history. Thanks for the Father Coughlin mention, though. I was not familiar with him. Sounds like a real whacko.
Re: the comments about Obama's speechwriters. His speechwriters write his speeches and then give them to him. He edits and tweaks, sometimes virtually rewriting the entire speech, until he feels it expresses his views. I would venture to say, though I have no empirical proof, that we can tell the difference between the speeches that are predominantly his words and those that are written mostly by others. Have you noticed that some of his speeches are nothing particularly special and sound like anyone could have written them, and occasionally there is one that is outstanding, dynamic and profound and strongly affects everyone who hears it, even those who don't agree with him? (Think the Democratic Convention speech in 2004, the Pennsylvania race speech and the one yesterday) There is your difference between speeches he writes and those he only edits.
Also, PappaDave, there is a big difference between the meaning of the word liable and the word libel. Look it up.
Why must some people NOW get all twisted up at the words "blood libel". Do you even know what it means? NOW she is accused of being anti sematic and AGAIN of something she is NOT and something she hasn't done. That's what those words harken back to...being accused and vilified for something by people who just go with the flow of whatever myth they've heard, when there is no truth to the accusations. When they bought into rumors. Oh, she should have said this word, that word..not those words. Well, look in a mirror. A lot of you should NOT have said a lot of words to and about her. It's so nice to see that so many of you Democrats don't even take the Democratic President's remarks to heart and STOP the hate and poison pens. It is YOU ALL he is addressing.
Now go ahead and collapse this message too. To quote an old movie line, "You can't handle the truth."
From what I see NO ONE is saying Sarah is responsible for influencing the shooter. The comments I see are just people raking a celebrity over the coals for being a bonehead.
Sarah not an elected official. The Republicans are trying to pry her off their leg. But she is just a pitt bull in lipstick!
She will never hold another public office in this country. Sarah is nothing but a Reality star now like that Snookie girl. But Snookie might be smarter.
The little witch is constantly trying to prove that she has cajones. The gun metaphors. The hunting and beating fish in the head. The man-pants insults from her fellow witches. Most intelligent women know that you don't have to compete with a man's testosterone level to prove your leadership abilities.
True leaders serve with compassion, intelligence, determination to stand for their ideals and defend all of those they are sworn to serve. True leaders always finish the job they started to the best of their abilities. None of these qualities are unique to a particular gender. None of these qualities can be attributed to the former beauty queen.
Compassion: Compassion for who exactly? Definitely not the Republicans, who he deemed his "enemy". The only person besides the small girl we lost in this tragedy that I've seen Obama show compassion towards is his Professor friend (who was in the wrong), and leaders of terrorist harboring countries. So yeah, I guess he does show compassion, just not where it's warranted.
Intelligence: Now, I may not be smart enough to be the President of the United States, but if I were, I'd have the intelligence to know that when the polls show a resounding no vote to your health care reform, you don't just pass it anyways with the air of "I know better then you do.".
Determination to stand for their ideals: Weren't all of you libs' heads spinning like a month ago when he made concessions with the Republicans? Where was his conviction to his ideals then? I mean, they're terrible ideals, but he definitely sold them out to get what he wanted.
Defend all of those they are sworn to serve: Do I really even have to mention the signs posted in the Arizona desert telling people not to go any farther because you might get killed by coyotes (the people, not the animal), or drug smugglers? Do I have to mention the reinstatement of state sanctioned assassinations ( I actually like that one, don't get me wrong)? Or perhaps the fact that he stripped so much power from our intelligence gathering community that some asshat with dynamite undies almost blew up a plane last Christmas? Yeah, he's a real defender of the people. That's why he's suing a sovereign state of the Union.....a power, by the way, granted ONLY to Congress, and not in suits like this....oh and he let other countries sue a sovereign state of the union, too. What a superhero!
Bottom line, while I agree that Palin is terrible, and as a Republican I wish she would go away, your man hardly practices what you preach. As a matter of fact, he hardly practices what HE preaches. His speech was nice though. It didn't take long for people like you to take this back to name calling and slander after he asked for us all to be civil though. You might say I'm as bad as you are, but honestly, I stayed on point, on the issues, and never reverted to calling names like "little witch" or saying things like "most intelligent women know that you don't have to compete with a man's testosterone level to prove your leadership abilities.". I'm still waiting for the inevitable call to have Rush, Beck and Palin killed.
Gharms, I will not address your wordly grievences individually except to say all of them are highly opinionated fact twisting to the point of out-right lies. You found my description of Palin offensive and then called me a Obama voter with no idea of who I am, who I voted for or even if I voted at all. Palin is a highly visable public figure from her own making and most of us know her well. You know nothing about me. As far as the inevitable waiting for calls of a death threat against your Holy Trinity, you may have a long wait. If one of them should come to their senses and start behaving as a responsible public figure, they might then recieve threats from some far right-wing nut.
I do not understand the confusion when referring to Ms. Palin. I think most people commented on Sarah Palin because she was part of the article. I do not dislike her (I do not know her).
I do dislike gimmicks and catchy phrases in politics, though. I think putting pictures of anyone in a crosshair, aka making a target of them is in poor taste and extremely immature. Ms. Plain is not the only candidate to do this. I, personally, do not want anyone that lacks common sense or maturity in a position of power in our government.
Sarah Palin is a commanding presence in America, when she speaks all of America takes note! Clearly Obama and the left are terrified by a challenge from Sarah Palin, this is obvious in the way that the hysterical leftists and their propaganda organs tried to tie her to this ''communist Manifesto'' reading Leftwing/Nutjob Loughner. Sarah Palin is clearly the frontrunner to be our next president regardless who the democrat party nominates!
Starship Enterprise to Peace Lover Starship Enterprise to Peace Lover ... Drat! We've lost her Captain. She's too far out! SHe's lost all contact with reality!
Yeah, when she tweets, her fans listen. We do take note, astonished that someone would be proud of saying nothing of value. Or produces a video of condolence--to herself. She should stick to tweets where only a sentence is required.
"Clearly Obama and the left are terrified by a challenge from Sarah Palin"
At night when liberals are tucked in their warm beds, they have pleasant dreams of unicorns and rainbow, in a land festooned with Palin/Beck in '12 signs.
The left desperately WANTS Palin to win the nomination. Even the conservatives believe Obama would feast on her tears.
you people are like a bunch or piranha ripping away the flesh of its prey or rabid dogs not caring who or what is in the way. omg Thanks MSNBC, Krueger, Clinton, CNN
Slow down I am sure there is enough blood and flesh around for you to chew
Blind hate, hope everyone feels better and proud of their meaningful contribution!!!
"The left desperately WANTS Palin to win the nomination. Even the conservatives believe Obama would feast on her tears."
You bet! I love Palin - she won us the 2008 election! Clearly, she made her party a laughingstock, and without her, McCain, the moderate Republican war hero, would have won in a landslide. PLEASE, Republicans, PLEASE vote your girl in!
Dosh is right. I am a conservative and fear Palin winds up winning the nominee. This result would probably be similar to the McDonnell fiasco in Delaware. I do agree with alot of her social and political ideals, but her electability is low.
After I listened to her speak in Phoenix last year, I can now say with confidence I do not want to hear her scream in her high-pitched fingernails-on-the-chalkboard voice. That was painful!
Deny what you might! Quaver in fear!! For Peacelover just might have a point. Worse things can happen, have happened. Things that I, as a Conservative Republican, know all too well. In November, 2008 the Republican Party was declared dead by the main-stream media pundits. Last November we proved them wrong. In November, 2012 the "Worse thing" I spoke about will be rectified. It may not be Palin but it will be a Conservative running as a Republican, not a Socialist running as a Democrat, who wins.
I so disagree with you. Palin is like a nasty zit that keeps rearing it's ugly head. She is so loud, ignorant and abrasive it's hard to not notice. People are astounded that someone so disgusting can reap this much attention. I have never really experienced anyone like her before that I have disliked so much. She embarrasses all women and is a horrible example to our daughters. It would be refreshing to see a few more highly intelligent, informed female politicians that are interested in more than filling their pockets and blowing smoke from their Facebook page. Palin is a media whore and believe me, people are getting sick of seeing her face and anyone who thinks she has one ounce of brain power capable of running this country must be on drugs.
Search for the few times in her early national career that Palin was allowed to get in front of a camera unscripted and watch them.
Then imagine her debating Obama.
She would be verbally flayed.
You might not agree with Obama, but you have to admit, he is a great orator. Palin can't operate, in fact refuses to operate, outside of a very controlled setting.
TenAngryHamsters...I think Americans saw real leadership last night with Obama's speech. 14,000 AZ people attended. An amazing sight. President Obama's demeanor yesterday reminded me of Eisenhower - cool, calm and unafraid to lead. That's a leader. Palin can't wipe Obama shoes on her best day.
I guess I really should rephrase my post so as not to get collapsed by the leftwing censors. ''cant we all just get along''
Wow Mr. TenAngryHamsters, You said in your statement here that Palin is a loser. Yet over on Fox Propaganda Nazi pages you float along with those kooks.
PeaceLover...Did Obama look scared to you last night in AZ? He looked the picture of the quintessential American leader to me. There wasn't a dry eye in that audience of 14,000 who when our President was finished speaking stood and gave him a resounding round of applause. They felt as most of us did that his leadership unified us as a nation. So...people like you can now stop your incessant need to divide.
No one can own words but certain phrases have specific meanings based on history. When repeated enough, the phrase takes on a new life (meaning).
Origins of the myth go back to the 12th century and the myth was created by CHRISTIANS!!! Learn some history before you write something silly like that.
You don't listen your leader, for how long are you going to continue with your vitriol, and game of character assesination, it is easy To see the mote in another's eye and not the beam in one's own.
Every language is living things...some of them even die.
History, too changes, and so does symbolism. Take the Christmas tree for example. Not very Christian but most think it is.
I just think that if you choose to go in front of a camera, you must choose your words carefully because if you don't, you might regret it. I don't think she is evil I just think she is ignorant. And she either has bad advisors or she does not listen to them.
Mac - Global New World Order??? Didnt we sort of see that one coming when we opened up shop in China, a horrible communist nation? Really, when you think about that aspect of "globalization" after decades of trying to defeat and stop the spread of communism, its quite a head scratcher how we could suddenly 360 our collective attitude towards communism, apparently its not so bad when you can exploit cheap labor from communist nations. America has been since its creation owned and operated by trans national corporations, seeking to exploit cheap labor for steep profits...when they ran out of prospects in america, they just moved on to mexico, china, the phillipines, india...
As China's middle class emerges, and china faces many of the same issues that America faced after its middle class got comfy and entitled, we'll see the same trans national corporations shifting business from china to some other nation who's desperate. We just gotta hope that WHEN that happens, China isnt in a position to repo our nation because of our outstanding trade debt with them, in addition to our regular debt to them that funded both wars.
Aside from that, no one owns any words...however, they do have meaning. I know you understand this. Blood Libel has a very specific meaning, and feigning ignorance...or worse, indifference, to that reality is pretty poor for a potential presidential candidate. Are you Christian? It would be like people deciding to call you Child Molestor...after all, in many peoples minds,,,the term seems to be interchangebale these days.
bayllie...I so agree with you. I think my generation of people from the 60's have given far too much latitude to people's behaviors, questioning why they behave as they do instead of holding them responsible for their words and actions. To me, there is no gap between responsibility and freedom. They are like the two lead horses in a team. They have to be in synch or they get no where.
There is just so much wrong with Sarah Palin. I'm happy that she has had a national forum to spew out her strange thinking patterns. With this last 8 minute video, she has pretty much come full circle and revealed herself not only to this country but to the entire world. I honestly don't know what else she could possibly reveal about herself that would be pleasant or would display presedential qualities. She isn't remotely presedential material. She has pretty much displayed her low calibre intellect, qualites and thoughts. I shudder to think that she might have been a heartbeat away from the American Presidency when she ran on the ticket as Vice-President.
So Bean...You admit that McCain was the better man. And you say it would have been a landslide for him except for Palin. So they picked the ticket with Biden on it instead? So they voted for a vice president, not for a president? Wow, goes to show the faulty thought processing of some people.
I think my generation of people from the 60's have given far too much latitude to people's behaviors
I think some people fail to acknowledge the fact that we live in a time of instant news and instant information. And that has a price. If you decide to be a public figure, choose your words and actions carefully because they will follow you forever.
I remember, after 9/11, when the news had to be stopped from playing (over and over and over) the video of the planes flying into WTC. It had a huge psychological effect on people. These constant negative messages of President being a terrorist or foreigner or Nazi or Communist or building concentration camps for Americans, etc. cannot go unnoticed. People do get affected by what they see and what they hear and some of them, maybe already predisposed to violence, believe that by shooting someone they are actually defending themselves or their country.
I think my generation of people from the 60's have given far too much latitude to people's behaviors, questioning why they behave as they do instead of holding them responsible for their words and actions.
Isn't that sort of a central theme of liberalism? However, the concept that it is the fault of society or circumstances or other factors, rather than the individual, makes it difficult to hold people responsible for their actions, much less their words. In fact, that is true in this instance as well - rather than hold the shooter responsible for his actions, the initial reaction is to try to determine who to blame, since it couldn't possibly be his fault.
Even though Monique goes on about smoking dope, I think it would be a stretch to suggest that she is responsible for someone deciding to smoke pot. Would it be the fault of the parents who didn't have time for them? How about the person that offered the joint to them? In the end, it still comes down to the fact that they said Yes rather than No....
Reality check - life is complex and messy..... no easy answers to these questions.
Anyone who thought this woman had anything remotely like presidential material must be on crack. The time for joke's are over! We need real leaders to Handel this country's real problems!!!!
Commonsense...Some people, myself included, aren't necessarily Palin followers nor do we cheer her on. I, We, simply point out the unfairness of it all, when those who dispise her try SO VERY HARD to hurt her and her family, and have one set of what's acceptable for some people/politicians, and another set for Sarah Palin doing exactly the same things. As in....Many people on the left have use metaphores that can have violent histories, have maps with crosshairs and targets displayed, and it's okay for them. But when Sarah Palin does the same things, she's viciously attacked for it. Why? When she quit as Governor of AK., we never hear the end of her being a "quitter". Well, what about Bill Clinton? He quit as Governor of Ark. in the middle of his term. What about Obama for that matter..he quit the Senate to run, Biden quit the Senate to run, and there have been scores of others who have quit their then held offices to campaign for election to various higher and other offices. BUT...as in what's good for the goose, is NOT good for the gander when it comes to Sarah Palin. Fair? She is vilified for "putting her children on the stage during the campaign. The Obama girls, the Biden kids, EVERY politician in a campaign be it local, State, Federal has "put their children out there". Never hear their parent called names because of their doing the very same thing. Fair? Since Saturday...long before that even... people have been as cruel as they can be to Sarah Palin and her family. Bristol was getting death threats during her stint on Dancing With the Stars. Anyone make an issue of that? Why NOT? Palin is criticized for earning a living. Others doing the very same thing, books, appearances, are paid money. Why aren't they shredded for it? Fair? And after the totally media fed uproar and the demonizing Palin over this AZ situation, when she finally speaks in her own defense......MORE HATE and horrible words, even death wishes, everything INCLUDING the kitchen sink is thrown at her. After all the investigating this Jared nutcase, there is NOTHING to indicate that ANYTHING Palin said or did caused him to go postal. But...you people just won't put it to rest, even after the President begged that you do. So just speaking as a HUMAN BEING, I defend her. The unfairness and vicious meaness of it is staggering.
If Sara Palin doesn't think what she's saying or doing is irresponsible then why were her people so quick to take the cross-hairs map off the web site so hastily?
Of course this guy is a nut case but how many more are out there? It's bad enough when they hear voices in they're head telling them bad things. But what happens when those voices are real and broadcast over the media?
Everyone's waiting for him to say weather or not the cross-hairs made him do it. That answer may never come from him! But we are all afraid of what these influential politicians are saying and how they are saying it.
I think they’re afraid also, that's why the cross-hairs map was removed so quickly? Not so much because of the fear of more random people getting hurt or killed but because of the political consequences. The very next day a clear statement should have replaced the cross-hairs map with a heart felt sincere apology that if this was the cause of this tragedy I am truly sorry! Not, “the shooting was not my fault”. It broke my heart to hear that a young girl was killed. Doesn’t Mrs. Palin have a very young daughter also?
A total group of hypocrites! Many of you, and probably all, who are so vitrolic against Sarah Palin have wanted her incapacitated if not dead. I have read too many posts attacking her and not just in articles concerning Sarah or anyone in her family or the Tea Party or even the Republican Party. Some are attacks because you left-wing people, using a favorite word of the liberals, "hate" Sarah and what she represents. Christina Greene, John Roll, Dorthy Murray, Dorwin Stoddard, Phyllis Sheck, and Gabriel Zimmerman were all murdered by Jared Loughner. Gabrielle Giffords and others were wounded. None of this was done or condoned by any memeber of the Conservative Right yet the Liberal Left jumped on it as a personal tragedy aimed at them only. Giffords read the 2nd Amendment in Congress (something the liberals in Congress scoffed at). She also voted against Pelosi as Minority Leader. This makes Gabrielle Giffords a heroine in my, and many Conservative's, eyes not a liberal lackey like Obama, Pelosi, and Reid.
Your irresponsible rhetoric might also incourage another border-line schizophrenic to go out and commit carnage just to please you. So, if you like the headlines, continue your blatherings so other innocents can be killed or injured in the name of liberalism.
The loathsome reposte by Bloody Sarah was an atrocity delivered at a time of great mourning. This vile inhuman creature knows NO limits! She should be right there in a cell with Loughner as his co-defendant. Jared was despondent over a girl friend let him have his way with her.
Very peace loving that statement. Sarah Palin could have said "I love little puppies" and she would have been tore apart for it. I admire Sarah. Will she ever be president? It is more likely there will not be an America to be President of.
Very peace loving that statement. Sarah Palin could have said "I love little puppies" and she would have been tore apart for it. I admire Sarah.
Anyone who can happily incite violent threats against everybody else but comes out self-righteously attacking a woman now fighting for her life has earned it! Now America has had ENOUGH - can you hear me now?!
Lee-936758, Palins the one who put this out there, people read into it what they want. She posted the video, she tweets and facebooks herself, no one else. She stirs the pot. Stop blaming other sources, what you just posted, your a big part of the hate pot yourself. We all are. This is what the President was talking about. We are so ingrained in our political views we don'tgive any credence to someone else's views or ideas. I think basically people want the same things for themselves and their families, we just have different ways of obtaining it, but we think our way is the only way, we don't even try to walk in someone else's shoes. The way you grow up, the way you were raised is what shapes your political ideals, it's not right or wrong its just what you know. Level headed discussion and compermise is the only way to change a persons views.
A total group of hypocrites! Many of you, and probably all, who are so vitrolic against Sarah Palin have wanted her incapacitated if not dead.
Attacking someone's words and/or actions does not equal to wanting someone incapacitated or dead. Where do you see these posts you are referring to? I dislike Palin very much. I think she is an opportunist, liar and a hypocrite. But the last thing I want is to see her, or anyone else, dead.
You are absolutely correct Deb. However in order to stay level headed on these pages, one must stay away from Fox Propaganda. It is a trainning ground for guys like the wacko this past Sat.
I'm certain you meant "....a loser concerned about himself".
These types of poor liberals with their knee -jerk reactions of anger and hate are so unfortunate. If I wasn't so passionately concerned what I could never believe could happen in our country, I would almost feel sorry for these people. It must be difficult living in such an anger hate filled perspective.
For the very last time, Fox News and Republicans had NOTHING to do with the lunatic on Saturday who argued in class that a 6 was an 18! The dude is a nut job who evidently disrupted his poetry class talking about strapping bombs to babies, which as anyone knows would be the complete opposite of the Republican party. I am sickened by the blame game since Saturday! Oh, the Repubs had a map with crosshairs on it, which of course automatically means they are telling other people to shoot the candidates *sarcasm*. Of course it doesn't mean that! The Dems have done it too, and no one is tossing blame their way. I've seen comments on here stating that the right needs to stop their vitriolic hate speech, but in the same sentence calling everyone who is on the right idiots, or losers, or various other hate filled names. You can't have it both ways people, live what you believe! If you think that there is too much name calling/finger pointing then stop freaking doing it yourselves! What kind of example does that set for our kids, telling them to treat people the way they want to be treated, then calling someone stupid in front of them because of the way they believe. I don't much go by the President's politics, but he was right about one thing last night, it's time to reign it in folks and start having a more civil discussion and stop the finger pointing. The Tucson tragedy was not the fault of the right, left or upside down, it was the fault of the disturbed young man who pulled the trigger.
Actually sat down last night and watched the speech after I got in from church. I was actually surprised that we have a President who can form complete ideas and talk in complete sentences. You may not like Obama...but at least he can speak in public.
After painfully experiencing eight long years of a President who barely had any coherent thoughts...I thought we were over presidents/aspiring presidents being able to barely walk/talk at the same time till I saw parts of her speech on Facebook...NOT a news outlet like other politicians use. For having a family who joined/endorses Alaska secessionists...she seemed more than willing to drape the US flag around her as a prop. Even worse...portraying herself as a victim. I always thought the actual person who was hurt was the victim...but not according to her. Being that she's as well educated as she claims to be...I fully expect her to redefine the Holocaust on her terms as happening to her and her tea baggers.
If you think for one minute that what Obama said was not designed to improve his political standing, then I have a bridge and some ocean front property in Nevada I would like to sell you. All Obama proved last night is what we already knew about him. (1) He is VERY, VERY, intelligent. (2) He is a GREAT orator. (3) He is a typical politician who says what he believes the people he is speaking to at the time and place he is speaking, want to hear.
IF (and I hope the Republican party can find someone better qualified) Palin runs against Obama in 2012 on the Republican ticket, she will probably lose and for all the wrong reasons. (1) While not stupid, she is not as "politically savvy" as Obama. (2) While not a bad orator, she tends to tell it like it is, instead of like people want to hear . (3) (and probably most important,) political offices in this country, especially the office of POTUS has become a office for sale to the person who can raise the most money, for sale to the highest bidder if you will.
We have fallen from a nation of "can do" types to a nation of "what will this person do for me" type of voters. The person who has the most campaign money can put a load of bull@!$%# in front of people enough times, while telling them it is the fertilizer this country needs and people will buy it by voting for this person. I see Obama for the BS salesman he really is, unfortunately, I feel I am in the minority as most are only interested in his words, not his actions. If this is the type of POTUS this country wants then I believe Obama is their man, all talk and very little action. If WORDS would heal our economy, keep people in their homes and create jobs, then Obama walks on water and should have us all well on our way to becoming millionaires in the next two years.
Does Palin have what it takes to fix this country? I doubt it, but at least she would not try to sell you a load of crap and make you believe it will cure all that ails you. I for one hope the Repubican or Independent party can find someone that is truly more qualified than Palin, yet is not a total "Snake Oil Salesman" like Obama. QED!
(3) He is a typical politician who says what he believes the people he is speaking to at the time and place he is speaking, want to hear -Ernie
There comes a point in time when overthinking something becomes the equivalent of ignorance, and your post provides a great example. Barack Obama is indeed intelligent and a great orator. But to say is is a typical politician is a worn-out cliche. He is a politician, yes, but he is far from typical because he always seems to take the road less travelled by his contemporaries, with last night being a notable example. He didn't need to address the political rancor at all, but in choosing to deny his own base the luxury of blaming rivals for Saturday's tragic events he sent a meaningful message to both sides of the aisle.
There is no difference between a leader who says and does the right things with re-election in mind and one who doesn't, except for perhaps in their success. We fully expect our leaders to take action on our behalf, and rightfully criticize them when they don't. By choosing the most practical course of action that the largest possible population can respect, a successful leader is fulfilling his obligations as both a politician and a leader. This is what successful leadership looks like, and if it leads to re-election that is good and proper - but Obama goes one step further than that: He is willing to fight for less popular causes that he truly believes are the right ones. He also appears to know the difference between the need for a fight or simply a compromise. I know that Barack Obama could have easily argued against extending the Bush tax cuts for the most wealthy and won - the public was solidly behind that position. Yet he skillfully devised a compromise that delivered much more economic impact where it was needed than he could have expected had he instead chosen to take the easy position, no doubt leaving Republicans to ponder how much they actually took away from the deal.
Success isn't a trick - it's just success. Detractors who claim otherwise are like people who exclaim 'lucky shot!' at a person who just completed a complicated and difficult bank shot in a game of pool. It's not luck to succeed at what you are trying to achieve -- that's just success. You can't argue with success.
Well, this post vine cinches it. You folks bashing away are the problem and you don't even realize it or else you do realize it and continue regardless. Extreme myopia, incapable of civil discourse and obsessive compulsive personality disorders abound.
TenAngryHamsters - Correction: The hate is pouring out of America! Finally, a person who has earned the hate!
Exactly! The hate coming from the real Americans toward those who want to destroy our way of life, our heritage, our economy and our individual liberties by turning us into a totalitarian Marxist state have EARNED our hate. Good one, I totally agree!
Bob...Guess you missed the NETWORK new and newspapers. Loughner's old girlfriend, who said she left him because he was getting bizarre and scary, and a male friend of his said that Loughner NEVER watches TV OR listens to radio. He is a registered Independent, however, has NEVER voted in his life. So how you can say he was influenced by FOX TV is all a figment of your imagination. But, don't let the facts confuse you...just on listening to and spreading those rumors!
That was 6 yrs ago, the GF thing....was this 22 yo guy frozen immediately after & then thawed out last wk, that you would bother citing 6 yr old news as any justification for anything? The friend was also from HS. And the voting records show the sole yr he didn't vote since registering was 2010 (so I guess he wasn't frozen since 2005).
Who's confused?
Ppl who hang on media sound bytes that don't mean a whole lot of anything.
Unless they're specially produced for Sarah Palin to put up on her *giggle* Facebook wall.
How old is she again that she gets to be on FB w/ all the hip & kewl kidz? What a tweetie. The only thing more lame than that would be animated glittering on MySpace LOL
Amazing the stuff ppl watch & listen to nowadays. For sure w/ al this important Palin stuff, no one's been over to the new digi-media site at the John F. Kennedy Library set up for the 50th anniversary of his presidential inauguration.
He took a "madman's" bullet in the head, too.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
But y'all just keep up the good work whining about poor poor Sarah Palin getting "picked on". Focus on the really important "issues" like that one. And keep practicing those ALL-CAPS so we know when to stop & read such important stuff.
6 years ago, so what. She said she left him because he was getting strange and she was afraid of him. You've unintentionally made the case then, that he was nuts 6 YEARS AGO, before Palin was even heard outside of AK. Good that you cleared that up scar tissue.
Businesses, media, news organizations, TV networks, and influential people have Facebook pages, no doubt other political figures also, and utilize those sites to communicate with a vast number of people across the nation and beyond. Do you snicker at them too? Guess you've spent time on those networks too...you seem quite familiar with Facebook and MySpace.
The only thing Kennedy's assassination and this shooting and killings have in common is that both were committed by sick madmen. Difference is JFK's killing was not used by the media to entice the character assassination of someone who doesn't share their political ideas, and has the audicity to say so.
Hells Bells I hope she doen't run for President! If she does that means I will have to dip into my savings and donate heavily to the opposition to make sure she is defeated soundly. We don't need a wacko like Palin anywhere near the White House!
hampster...Palin blew it when she tried to defend irresponsible language in her speeches. All she had to do was manup. There's no shame in admitting you are wrong. The real shame is to perpetuate a defense of the indefensible.
Once again Sarah does not disappoint! She took a day of mourning and tried to turn it into her own personal political "victim" day. I do not hate Sarah Palin, I actually agree with some of her more coherent thoughts, when she does express them. However, yesterday instead of making me feel better about our country, that all hope is not lost, I was left with the feeling that in her opinion, we MUST at all costs continue the war with ourselves. I heard her talk about having spirited debates, but heard from her that there is no hope that she will EVER take the time to listen. She didn’t listen long enough to get it that yesterday was about Tucson, not Sarah & Sarah’s politics. Yesterday was not the time to “defend” herself, it was a time to stop and mourn the passing of 5 adults and a 9 year old little girl at the hands of a confused and mentally ill young man. She did not inspire as a leader and there was nothing presidential in her discourse. Defend yourself on your own time Sarah.
You don't want her near the White House? Thought it was every citizen's dream for her to replace it with a trailer with at least 10 cars around it...all on blocks.
KDH...Guess you missed the part where Palin expressed sorrow and sympathy for the victims.
So, she spoke in her defense. So? Everyone else has been talking about her, why can't she address that? They were STILL talking about her on the day of the memorial and the child's funeral. That's okay? Seems no one was listening to what the President said, because they are STILL demonizing her and her party and her politics. And she said similar things about the polarizing of the country. Obama was praised for that, Sarah vilified. Go figure....
She and her family are getting record amounts of death threats. They are no doubt coming for those so tolerant, make love not war, warm and fuzzy libs, and from madmen the likes of Loughner. Who's enticing them with words??? Could it be.....the media....the haters on the left? And they ARE NOT misconstrued phrases or symbols.
Aggie, I did not villify Mrs. Palin, I stated that once again she did not impress me with her speech, and I will not defend myself to you for my statements. It is my right to free speech...or does that only apply to a select few?
If she is now receiving death threats, then count me out, I do not condone that, from her or whatever side others feel that they are on. I do not hate her, I DEFINATELY do not wish her ill will, and frankly I usually laugh at her (i.e. North Korea?). I just pointed out that there is a time and a place for everything and her timing as usual was way off in my humble opinion.
If you want to pick on anyone, choose someone else who has made stronger statements against her. I'm not that easily pursuaded by your obvious hostility nor am I easily angered or bullied.
quit cryin you lefties. you've been exposed for the partisan idiots you are. turn out the lights in your parents basement get off your duffs and get a job.
I take it that NO conservatives are living with their parents, and have lost their jobs ? I guess your comment then is a tribute to your extremely high IQ and intellect?
quit cryin you lefties. you've been exposed for the partisan idiots you are. turn out the lights in your parents basement get off your duffs and get a job.
What does that have to do with Sarah Palin inciting violence in her base?
"quit cryin you lefties. you've been exposed for the partisan idiots you are. turn out the lights in your parents basement get off your duffs and get a job."
JFOX: How insulting and not on topic. I own my own business and am in the 1% of wealth, used to be a Republican and now cannot stand 5 min of FoxNews. I consider myself intelligent and can spot a fraud when I see one.
Sarah Palin, as the old saying goes, opened her mouth and removed all doubt!
Ain't it a shame to be shot down in flames? Wacky tea-nut-baggers take note: this is what happens to nutty people who think they can threaten their way to power!
jfox - I am a registered Democrat, US Navy veteren, husband of 26 plus years, father of 2, hold a BS degree (that's Bachelor's of Science in case you were wondering) a Master's degree and I have been gainfully employed for my entire adult life. My point, you may want to reconsider your blanket statements. You do nothing more than demonstrate your ignorance. In this case, good job...
jfox...We aren't lefties....We're Americans...What are you? If you are conservative first, you aren't American. And, keep your silly hardliner ideology to yourself. We've had just about enough of it.
There are some ridiculous people in this country who don't wipe their ample butts unless they know that an ideologue of their choice manufactured the TP.
screeeeminglib...Sad to say but the first time I had the occasion to see a group of Tea Party members, most had bellies as big as their always opened mouths.
jfox, like peace_lover, obviously has problems, best to ignore them, in some cases these are just people deliberately playing troll to aggravate others trying to make calm, sensible postings, so paying them no mind will deny them that pleasure.
ewent... FINE American you are! Talk about the pot calling the kettle black....look that saying up somewhere and it's got your picture next to it for a visual aid.
Big bellies, butts, TP??... Focus certainly illustrates your level of maturity.
Some people have 'misunderestimated' her and called her stupid. She is genius in her cynical manipulation of stupid people for her purposes. What has she accomplished to improve health, education or welfare of citizens?
Ancient Greek...I don't respect anyone who dares to exploit people they know are less educated. Maybe that's a little too altruistic. But, whenever anyone tries to insult the intelligence of another, they are the ones who show who and what they are.
Political Prisoner 2012 The Republican party will never die .. it's only a political envelope, plastic & malleable .... to be manipulated and reshaped at will ..
nwnative...I'm not sure I agree with totalizing all Republicans that way. I personally know Republicans who are utterly disappointed with the leaders of their party. At first, I believed it was borne of some kind of cultural thing since most of the more vociferous Republicans are stereo-typical southern white males. But the more I speak with Republicans I realize how much angst they have not only with their leadership but with the kind of bullying attitudes those leaders exhibit. Maybe now they will tone that down a bit.
And to think the Republican Party in its infancy was the party of Lincoln & considered to be too liberal & too far to the left. In the last 150 yrs the entire demographic has flip-flopped.
No, instead we inflicted Obama on the country and, until just recently, had Pelosi to deal with. We survived and will survive until Obama leaves the White House in January. 2013.
Blame "The Royal Prince" John McCain; he nominated her! (He was second from the bottom in his class at Annapolis.) "Birds of a feather flock together."
nwnative, is that debate with or without telepromter? The worse thing about this ALL you morons is the SICKO is responsible. The second person to blame is the Sheriff. This sicko has been stalkin this lady for 3 years and made numerous threats against numerous people for years. How sick do ya have to be to be kicked out of community college for being a sicko! In Ky he would have been locked up for terroriustic threatening. He is definately a very sick, dope smoker, the sheriff knew him very well and did NOTHIN! Now who's to blame?
Mac101...Is that it? That's all you can come up with to bash President Obama? Let me see you make a speech longer than 3 words without a prompter. I'm even willing to stretch that number to 15 if you can find 15 words that make any sense.
Now...the shooter may be responsible. In the same way Susan Atkins and the rest of the Manson murderers were. But, who riled them up? Who inspired them? Who manipulated their thinking? I realize it's difficult for one unstable person to recognize how easy it is for another unstable person to become unglued by what they see or hear. Take the hint.
ewent, how did comparing Palin to President Oboma reading a telepromter bashing him? And by the way I'd rather have someone with a few notes and speak from the heart, but that ain't going to happen. ALL presidents have speach writers for the last 50 years.
You alude to mind control. Nothin is out of the question. Why did the Sheriff allow this individual to threaten people on a regular basis? Was he a MK ULTRAS Stooge? He did shoot the bluest of the blue dog DEMOs and a hard core 2nd admendment judge. A twofer! I doubt it, but do not rule it out!
Mac...It compares when people like you deliberately try to degrade the President of the US while pumping iron for an insignificant mouthpiece like Palin. You don't mind Palin using a teleprompter but how dare the President? Nonsense that is.
The Sheriff of AZ knows the answers to your questions. I am sure you can ask him if you try. I'm not particularly into unproven conspiracy theories. I don't live in AZ although I do have two relatives there. Both of whom are in federal law enforcement.
To answer your question, the Sheriff as all law enforcement officers know, couldn't do anything to this guy until there is a law broken.
Since you don't know the specifics of AZ laws or for that matter the individual municipalities laws, there could be any number of reasons the sheriff didn't lock the guy up. My guess is the sheriff knew he wasn't sane but since the guy is of legal age had no jurisdiction to commit him.
In my honest opinion, too many young people today have begun to believe the world of video games are reality. We have a definite split in the society when you have a 29 year old writer who writes a book that implies that anyone over the age of 70 should commit suicide. Life isn't a video game. It's time for the 20-somethings to grow up and get their noses out of the video games.
Comparing Palin to Charles Manson? There is absolutely no proof that Loughner followed Palin's websites, tweets or speeches. There is no proof that is the reasoning behind the shooting. It's all pure speculation. Just because it's out there on the internet doesn't mean everyone saw it (I didn't, but that's because I don't follow Palin anyway). For anyone to continue blaming those other than Loughner, is just as irresponsible and manipulative.
Given the Republican success in 2010 and Palin's part in promoting so many Tea Party folks, I'd say she could still be a force in 2012. No, I don't think she'd get the nomination then, but my worst nightmare is 2016 when the Presidential choices turn out to be Palin vs. Pelosi. Stupid vs. Arrogance personified.
I'd rather have a person who can talk(answer accusations) for over an hour without a teleprompter(like Obama did in front of the House Reps.) as our POTUS, than a person who couldn't even remember 2 or 3 easily memorized talking points(Palin) and had to write them on her hand.
OH that is PRECIOUS. Fault Palin for have talking point notes to refer to, while making an unscripted speech, and compare that to the one who needs his ENTIRE SPEECH written by his staff of speechwriters, and scripted on a teleprompter.
I don't recall Obamma addressing any accusations in front of the House of Reps., however, you can be pretty certain the questions were all screened, and his answers all scripted, tweaked, and well rehearsed before Obama got up there.
You probably believe in the tooth fairy too, if you believe Palin's handlers don't go over what she is going to say beforehand.
Those 3 talking points Palin wrote on her hand, was just her trying to look like she doesn't need a teleprompter or real notes(and she failed).
I guess the problem is, you don't recall(just like Palin can't).
Watch Obama answering House Republicans if your memory fails you.
Obama went on Bill O'Reilly's show, and Bill tried to put him on the spot.
After Palin did very poorly on Couric's show, she won't do any show or public meeting where people can ask her questions directly(and there's a reason for it).
Sarah Palin is a fool......though not responsible for the shootings...she is responsible for irresponsible and continued comments that are meant to incite the borderline persnonalities out there.....first...she will NEVER be elected President...maybe her moronic Tea Partiers will vote for her but the rest of the electorate will NEVER vote for her.....Sarah...you don't get it...most of us can't stand the sight of you...you are disgusting.
Now, now - don't forget brave! How tough do you need to be to come out in public and launch an attack on a woman who is in the hospital fighting for her life? Shame!!
Gabby was right - irresponsible rhetoric does have consequences!
What i don't understand is why the mainstream media gives her any airtime at all! She would just be another nut from the backwoods if no one broadcast her venoumous stupidity. What if the only coverage she got was on "Facebook?" No one of any import would ever hear or see her ignorant ramblings. Maybe the media thinks she makes good television--a joke that's comedic relief to watch--but in fact, they are giving her an arena for which she is undeserving. Her 15 minutes were up long, long ago.
Bloody Sarahs placing of crosshairs on people has the POTENTIAL to be directly responsible for a devastating tragedy! She best Pray another whacko doesn't cause a sensless slaughter DIRECTLY related to one of her targetings!
Exactly. i guess there isn't enough serious news out there. People are fascinated that someone so ignorant has the guts to constantly expose her ignorance to the masses. It's like mental illness.
nwnative...You bring up an interesting point. There's news and then there's sensationalism. Don't you think maybe the media deliberately chooses topic to put out there that dumb down their media base? It seems like your point is well taken. There is plenty of information Americans would rather see in the media. So why isn't it there? Instead we get the latest news on when Lady Gaga changed her underwear or some other tripe we don't really care about.
So if the right dont like the left why are all these rightys on msnbc blog lol, i dont even go to fox news at all, i come here to talk with fellow libs, and you ya whos come over here to start bashing libs if you dont like what we say then go to fox and you can bash all you want
Prisoner - I think it is difficult to call Palin irrelevant when everytime a story appears that even mentions her, it results in thousands and thousands of posts. And, given her obvious influence on the recent elections, she is apparently effective politically. Polarizing, perhaps - irrelevant, hardly.
But the advertisers and those making money selling the avertising like it. When you click on a Palin article or any article there's ads around it... Funny, because it's like graffiti; it's there but I don't pay attention to it. I can read an article and afterwards could not tell you what ads were on the same page if my life depended on it. Guess that's a good thing.....
We post because we hate her guts and want to share our hate with each other. It's healthier that way. We post because she's just so damn aggravating we have to talk about it.
Great, so now we have share the Hate? What next? Apparently you are not familiar with the statement made of Stalin: "Great fear inspires great love." Or the fact that hate, in terms of emotion, is as satisfying as love. Then there's the fact that she's been accused of inspiring a lunatic to commit mass murder. By propagating hate aren't you also guilty of inspiring the potential for a lunatic to commit murder?
Pointing & mocking politicians has been a spectator sport since govt was invented. Palin raised it to a whole new level.
Then she got out of politics & squatted on FB to whine about how folk just pick on Private Citizen Sarah....awww....in addition to pretending to write books & pretending she lives in reality so that she could get a reality show.
If she'd stop pretending to be a private citizen & actually be one, there'd be some joy in Mudville.
On a side note: how long do you think it's going to take b4 someone recalls her daughter just invested all her Dancing with the Stars (LOL there's a misnomer) paycheck in some fine Arizona property? I don't know if that property lies within one of the infamous crosshairs' districts or not. But I'm thinking the Palins' travel plans are now limited to just 49 US states rather than all 50?
The day Sarah Palin jokes stop being funny is the day I will stop making them. Maybe hate is a strong word to use but Yosemite Sarah really does bring it on yourself. I feel sorry for you because you are obviously gullible and easy to dupe if you are a Palin supporter. Look into her credentials. Mayor of a small town and the governor of a sparcly populated state that quit before she could finish a single term. The fact that the media still covers her demands that we make our voices heard in response.
They print her rediculousness and we reply with ours. Tit for tat if you will. If I can make it so one other person sees through Yosemite Sarah's smoke and mirrors and take her for what she truely is (an incompetant, greesy opportunist) then I've done my job.
Have fun with the rest of the racist teabaggers in your anti-Obama sewing circle.
Well Jeffor.... Let's just say you have no room to speak to Palin's intelligence judging from your spelling, you are no MENSA candidate yourself.
I'm not a "Palin supporter" in that I think she should run for, or be President. I'm just a person who is disgusted by the hypocrisy and lies and hate being piled on one person. She's never pushed through a costly Bill, borrowed to put the U.S. in hock to China for generations, taken over companies. The fallacy in your "tit for tat" comment is that SHE never attacked you, your family, your intelligence, threatened you, called you names...so how do you figure what you say is "tit for tat". She never went after YOU personally with threats, hatespeak. Never cost you or anyone else one thin dime or forced any initiatives on you or anyone else. However, since you bring it up, Alaska is a very important State in our country that plays a huge role in our natural resources and it geographical location. Good people. Intelligent people. Talented people. It's not some outpost without citizenry. Or didn't you know. I do have to point out that she has probably more experience in governing than the person who was elected. And you DO know that Bill Clinton also "quit" during his term as Gov. of Arkansas. Yeah, he did. Even pledged to the people there, when he was running for election for Gov. that he would serve out the entire term. Oops. Broke that promise, he did. Check it out. And if you count all of the Senators, Governors, Congressmen who "quit" the position they were in to campaign for another office, I'm sure you'll find a whole lot. Biden, for instance. Obama for instance. To listen to so many of you critics you would think Palin was the one and only one who did. How's that for a little "tit for tat".
If you're so good a seeing through "smoke and mirrors" where were you when the golden orator was blowing it around? Many people now see that it was just that....smoke and mirrors. You all react as though it was Palin vs. Obama...she wasn't running for President, so why do so many of you carry on as though she was his opponent?? That's just dumb.
I don't think she should or will ever be, or even run for President. So your thinking that I support her to do that, you're wrong. I speak up for her because of all the hypocrisy and unfairness that is going on towards her and her entire family. The character assassination is totally out of control. She hasn't done or made comments or used metaphores, or visual aids, that hasn't been done exactly the same by Democrats, and their PAC's. How about people act like human beings, have some sense of fairness and humanity for pete's sake.
Please. If Sarah Palin held a national office it would be a terrible attack on all Americans.
It's a good thing it will never happen. I actually like SP in a way. She divides the conservatives and helps out our cause. She's like a Ross Perot. Just savy enough to get dumb people's attention and steal their votes. Congratulations!
After what Obama said last night, if you can't stand with the man on that, then there's something wrong with you and not him. Maybe it's time to take a look in the mirror.
When will Sarah Palin stand up and accept responsibility for her own actions? She placed a target on Giffords back, and that target has now been hit. Palin and her ilk love to use the rhetoric of civil war, but forget that the 2nd amendment applies to both sides. Be careful what you wish for people, sometimes you might just get it!
No, I beleive Dave is playing his cards just like Palin does. She is no one special, just the opposite. Everytime I see anything about her on TV, I turn the channel. She is NOT news worthy in my opinion.
No, I am not threatening anyone. Just saying that people need to consider what they say. If you place targets on people's backs, don't act surprised when they get shot. If you call for your followers to exercise their 2nd amendment rights, don't act like you had nothing to do with it when they do.
Please explain to me how the 2nd Amendment, "The right of the people to keep and bear arms", comes into play here! No where in the entire constituion, or ANY government document for that matter, does it state that we the people have the right to use those arms to commit murder, to use those arms by firing into a crowd (elected official or not) or to use them to coerce or otherwise influence another.
No where in the entire constituion, or ANY government document for that matter, does it state that we the people have the right to use those arms to commit murder, to use those arms by firing into a crowd (elected official or not) or to use them to coerce or otherwise influence another.
Ah, here is the crux of the matter and problem with many gun promoters' use of the 2nd amendment. If the above is true, and a group of gun owners decides the USA has become tyrannical, let's call them a ... um ... how about a "militia" and then it chooses to attack government agents, civilian or military by firing on them, isn't that essentially murder in the eyes of the law of the land, being the law of the United States, which the group does not recognize? If the premise of needing the 2nd amendment to stop the "federal government" is the reason for having guns, it seems in doing so that group is tacitly acknowledging that it will be an illegal action. If they fail to overthrow the government, they will be charged with either treason (unlikely given the politics of it) or most likely murder (assuming someone was killed in the attack). There's no reason to believe those who keep firearms for the possibility of fighting the government are anything but insane.
Sarah has incited her TeaParty faithful to issue death threats all over the country - even Republicans! Now she is complaining about getting them herself. What's the matter Sarah - it's not as much fun to be on the receiving end?
Bob Beckel stated just the other day, that using a map with "crosshairs", has been a tool of both parties for years.
You are trying to pin this tragedy on Palin's head, just because she used a map. How spineless and thoughtless are you?
It is absolutely disgusting as to what you are implying. Let's not forget that Gabrielle Giffords is very conservative on a number of issues that 99% of all of you who have been posting on this page, are so against.
Is it any wonder to all of you.....why FOX NEWS is kicking the*sses of MSNBC, CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC?
Obviously you never saw the map. No targets on people. It was a map of the USA with 20 (count 'em) districts (not people) that were targets for turn over.
Democrats were using very similar maps on their websites too.
What's really pathetic about the shooting in AZ? The gun nuts have all gone out and purchased semi-automatic weapons in higher proportions because ...now get this....they fear the government is going to ban carrying semi-automatic weapons in public. Did you ever hear anything so stupid in your entire life?
First of all, if they are legally carrying semi-automatics on public streets, shouldn't their names be published every time they purchase more magazines? Or do we just let these nut jobs stock their arsenals and then when something or someone they don't agree with gets in their way, they spray public streets with their weapons?
The NRA wants it both ways. They keep using that same tired old excuse that guns don't kill. So, if they don't, why are they going out a few days after a serious public massacre and buying up every semi-automatic in sight?
They have a right to carry in public? We have a right to know before they are out on the streets who is buying arms. It's time to publish the names of all gun owners in this country. They don't have a problem openly wearing guns, they shouldn't have a problem with having their names published openly when they buy them.
Although I doubt you could get a law like that passed, I don't really see why it would be a problem. Seems pretty harmless overall - although it does seem a bit invasive.
But, even if it did pass, do you really think it would be worthwhile? Would you actually stop blogging long enough to go read it? Or, would it just be printed for the sake of printing it?
Of course, I also doubt that the folks that purchase guns illegally on the street will bother to submit their name for publication.......
I suppose YOU would have seen the guy's name on the list and had him arrested before he killed and maimed all those people? He was in "legal possession" of that firearm, had passed all security checks required to purchase the gun and ammunition.
I'm not trying to downplay this tragedy, but more people are killed in Greater Los Angeles in a week than this guy killed and it barely gets headlines.
The guy was/is a nutcase but, fortunately, YOU can't have him arrested until he breaks the law! It is terribly unfortunate that his "law breaking" was so devastating. If it was against the law to be a left-wing extremist most of the posters on here would be in jail, probably sharing a cell with Jared!
The one positive reason for publishing who buys and owns firearms, that I can think of, is that those who know the gun buyers could come forward and speak up if they have a reasonable suspicion about that persons sanity or eligibility to own a firearm.
If friends/collegues/family know that a mentally unbalanced person is suddenly stocking up on firearms and ammo, there's more chance of nipping a potential problem before someone gets hurt.
It's easy to lie on the gun owners questionaire, and omit any mental problems, violent tendencies, and/or substance abuse.
I agree with most of what you said JC, although I don't agree that responsible gun owners would easily subject their names to a list - especially because of privacy issues. A criminal who wants a gun would then have a list. A list for anti-gun people to harass. It would be one more thing that punishes responsible gun owner's instead of harsher punishments for the criminal.
American Lobo - The police still cannot force someone to get psychological testing. Until that person did something wrong, which it probably would be too late, their hands are tied anyway. Anyone could go around then and say someone else is crazy - take their gun.
Question? If Sarah or her camp didnt think nothing was wrong with the map, why did it come down soooo fast. Now u see it, now you dont! ITS MAGIC!!!!!!!!
I think there's a profound difference btwn saying "these congressional districts should be targeted for turnover in the next election" while indicating said districts w/ a color change or a dot, rather than using crosshairs to "take aim" at said targets.
That's a difference Palin doesn't seem to appreciate.
Good idea scar tissue...Now pass that same comment you replied to along to the Dems.who also had crosshair targets on their maps. That wasn't "appreciated" by them either.
My God, you people are just nuts! You are making up stories, talking about things that NEVER happened. WHEN was there ever a "target actually, literally, put on Giffords back"????? And then Dave THREATENS to put one on Palins back...no, actually he said there IS a target on her back. Put him in the same rubber room with Jared. His "rhetoric is inciting violence"...
seansmom. Ever consider that "the map" may have come down because the elections are over?????? Have you checked to see if and when the Dems. took their map down? I've seen them show old file photos of Palin's map, but none of the media dug out the Dem. maps. Strange. But I DID see video of a Dem. meeting where their map, with targets, was displayed as one of their visual aids. But why bicker...fact is pretty well proven that neither map was the cause of anything at all.
Palin has differentiated herself by refusing to allow others to define her. She's tough and unrelenting. In an age where politicians, CEOs and others who are expected to lead often shy away from controversy, she embraces it and turns it on those who try to bring her down. There's no question that liberals intentionally tried to pin the tragedy in Arizona on Palin and other conservatives without any evidence of a connection between her and the shooter. Palin won't let them off the hook easily for that propaganda where other candidates clearly will.
If Sarah won't take responsibility for the "color" of her message, then why should the respondents? Rhetoric is a double edge sword and the first amendment is the first amendment.
Keen instincts. On the day, victims are memorialized--the ones that were killed--Sarah memorializes herself. Just to show that she won't be silenced, she engages in the same old vitriol on a day of mourning. I guess if the victims had been Republicans she would have shown them more respect.
Did anyone actually say the anti-christ had to be a man? Or was the term used the same way as mankind? Or could it be even a group of people ie; Palin, Beck ,Limbaugh, ect, ect, They are certainly devisive while saying from the other sides of their mouths how much they love America.
If words and thoughts can kill then Sarah should have died many times over from the hatred poured out against her. Those people doing verbal violence to Sarah Palin are guilty of inciting violence, much as they claim she did. Seems the parable about him without sin casting the first stone is rather apt right now...sadly, this won't cause those spewing hatred to stop, seems the deaths of six people haven't toned down the rhetoric one bit, nor have hard facts. This has taken on a life of its own and I forsee bad consequences if it doesn't end.
I especially like how she says the Democrats are trying to capitalize on this tragedy.
She really NEEDED to release that video on the day of the memorial service, did she? That way she could be the center of attention instead of the actual victims.
I hope she runs for president, that way we'll be guaranteed a Democratic victory.
If ever there were a clear definition of narcissist as portrayed by a human, the Quitta from Wasilla fits it perfectly. She is the head of her own little "pity party".
I, like you, am a dem. I however am not underestimating the effectiveness of stupid people in very large numbers. Over 50 million voted for her and McCain for christs sake in 08. If she wins - we deserve everything we get.
........ well , it takes time to clean up a big mess created by those Bush cowboys from Texas ..... you ought to thank god for a man like President Obama you twit .. your damn lucky your not standing in a soup line ...... it could have been 1929 all over again .... President Obama knew what he had to do would be unpopular ..... but he did it to save our country ..... in case you didnt know ...... the banking system of the United States was about to collapse when he inherited the huge mess from Bush.
We deserve all the wonderful things President Obama has helped us acheive. He is a great, great man. Can you imagine a debate between Obama and Sarah...?? !!
Mike, I'm sure we "find our car keys" the same as you. We yell until somebody tells us they're on the kitchen counter. Now, as far a originality in comments concerning Palin? Please do try and find some in this string.
Danc, you're in a dreamworld. Teleprompters are not allowed in debates, hands are.
Mischief 9, wake up bro. President Oboma just apointed one man who was instrumental in the repeal of the Glass-Stegal act and another who was a big shot in JP Morgan. They both have gotten MILLIONS from Goldman Sachs in the past. The Trans National BANKSTERS own both parties and before you wake up they will have implimented their New WOrld Order and you and I will have nothini while the ELITES have everything. Wake up bro!
bboomer, I saw her 8 minute video. Not once did she look at the palm of her hand. She was reading a telepromter or cue cards.
Why has a device used for decades suddenely an issues over the past couple of years? I thought it was a good thing to use technology that makes it easier not to flub up speeches. Bush used one too, but had a speech issue that made it look like he hadn't.
MikeinNY...You want my opinion? There are those who are desperate to prove President Obama is not intelligent enough to be president. Guess who that would be? The same idiots who managed to keep minorities from voting, from taking positions in government and who denied children the same equal rights to education. This is all about making President Obama look stupid.
If they can prove he is just a dumb black man, it pumps their own narcissistic egos so that the color of a person's skin determines their intelligence level. Then, they will say it isn't about race. The hell it isn't.
WOW!!! Now the thing has degenerated to the "race card"... Good job ewent!!!
The thread is about Palin, not Obama... But, since you brought it up...
Nobody is saying Obama isn't intelligent, quite the contrary... Intelligence is something that is measured by a test and I'm sure he ranks pretty high.
The question is: Is he just inept given his related background as a community organizer or is he "crazy like the fox" truly trying to Fundamentally Change America into a socialist nanny state?
Yelling out racism where there is none, IS playing a race card.
Unfortunately, there are still a sizeable number of racist or just plain bigoted people that live in the US.
To say that their bigoted opinions/beliefs/upbringing doesn't influence how they vote or treat others, is wishful thinking and hiding your head in uranus.
I saw a documentary on HBO "Right America Feeling Wronged" that followed the McCain campaign around on the US. Many of you would be surprised on how many McCain supporters were against Obama, based only on the propaganda they heard about him(he's Muslim/associates with terrorists/communist), and his color. Some blatantly admitted they would never vote for a black man(even though Obama is half white).
I heard so many uneducated and bigoted responses to why many of them were supporting McCain and not Obama, that it opened my eyes to how many ignorant/bigoted people there still are.
That's not playing a race card, that's recognizing reality in the US.
Bigoted is a better description, than racist is, of the people who are against those not like themselves(religion/color/culture/education).
Too many focus on how we are different, vs. how we are all so similar.
There were many people who voted FOR Obama solely BECAUSE he's black. That is no more right or noble than NOT voting for a person solely because of race. The "race card" is played both ways, make no mistake. And no one race is any more or any less guilty or any more or any less innocent of the divisiveness that is taking place.
Sadly we live in a time when anything is possible but in all cases the outcome is less than desirable. It seems to me that the more people entertain the political propaganda/debates and deny the fact that there are some powers far larger than this behind the scenes, these powers have succeeded.
Right, I understand her "base" better than she does. They are stark raving mad lunatic puppets who will do anything they are told, just like her. People need to wake up, man, the candidates from either party are selected because they will do as their masters are bidding and everyone buys right into their little political drama dog and pony show. Vote independant for a couple of decades and see what happens, it's your only choice folks. I'll be dead by then....
That statement was not meant to be humorous. It was simply a statement of what I consider to be a fact. I'm glad to hear that you did not find it "humorous". That was not my intention.
bbloomer....How much do you want to bet lokay5 and the others all sit at the 7th Grade lunch table and try to outgross one another, and get so giddy they shoot milk out of their noses.
After the shooting of Gabriell Giffords mental health professionals said the public should step forward and report anyone who behaves erratically and shows signs of being a danger to society. Therefore I am reporting Sarah Palin. Someone needs to commit this woman for a psychiatric examination before she does more damage. Think about it. She has holed herself up in her Alaska compound-communicating mainly via the internet. She exhorts her followers to violence-to not" retreat but reload". She owns guns and is often pictured holding and using them, targets her opponents in gun sites on a map visible to all. Then she "refudiates" herself in a video eerily positioned to look like a presidential background. How is she any different than Gifford's assassin or other disturbed individuals? Palin is a sociopath and a danger to our civil society.
I'm with you Gail I think she should be committed she's a moron can't talk doesn't understand anything except promoting herself and spreading rumors and hateful ideas she needs to go AWAY
I will also say WOW but to someone who has summarized an issue so well and accurately that I cannot anything but praise for hearing the truth about a prospective "candidate" that cares only about money, herself, power and shooting everything including off her mouth. Her "base" of supporters should also undergo mental examinations I think
Thanks Gail. You said it so eloquently. What I dont' get is why she isn't being held accountable for her threats? I would say terroristic threats at least. So tired of this stupid egotistical woman. She is a disgrace.
Maybe for one thing, Palin didn't shoot anybody. Didn't you hear your President say last night that nobody's rhetoric is responsible for this tragedy? Palin's map with the gunsights didn't even have anybody's name or district on it. On the other hand, 4 years ago an Arizona DEMOCRAT ran a campaign add with a gunsight targeted on the HEAD of his Republican opponent. Do you think maybe that could have influenced this shooter? I would not vote for Palin for any public office, but it amazes me how people get ther facts all screwed up based on their political preconceptions. And that goes for both sides of the aisle.
Common sense, don, is not an asset of the weak-minded puppets who believe they are following the Democratic agenda on this string. They are only here to insult Palin with their witty (though unoriginal) repartes and to see if they can spark another J. L. Loughner out there.
GAil, don't worry, the FEMA camps are already funded and many say are built. You libs will be able to fill em up soon except for those 30 million you're science czar, or was it President Obomas friend, Bill Aires once said were not able to be reeducated!
Actually, Palin is more a narcissist. She exhibits the typical narcissist's tendencies. Loves the focus on herself more than anyone else. There's a down side to narcissism...Usually when the attention disappears, the narcissist becomes agitated and self-defensive. Sound like anyone we know?
The woman is just intelligent enough to be dangerous. All of Palin's utterances have been coldly-calculated to keep the pot boiling with her equally-unintelligent followers. Combined with what some of the unwashed consider to be "good looks" and her cloyingly-designed "common woman" persona of "You betcha" and knowing winks...she has assembled the perfect package. Now, her equally-unintelligent pal Michelle Bachmann has entered the fray as well. Neither of them are deserving of high public office...and their supporters just unintelligent enough to not realize how crassly they are being used as pawns in a greater game. Sad.
It's odd how the same people who use every version of "dumb b***ch" they can think of also accuse Palin of using very sophisticated tactics to rally her supporters and keep herself in the public eye.
so funny to read these posts. Like what you kids say is relevant to anything. Read through all of the posts and see who the whiners are, the finger pointers, and name callers.
When you grow up, you won't be affiliated with democrats or republicans.
Sounds like you're in a party all by yourself, smallbrainz
I tend to think there are a lot more people who fit into the center as opposed to hard right or hard left so smallbizness probably has a lot more company than you think.
.... no ...... i dont see anything wrong with what Smallbizness said ......... im all for a viable 3rd party ....... or 4th for that matter ....... and i am a DEMOCRAT ...... more viable political parties will force both the Democrats and Republicans to quit the squabbles and deadlocks and actually get something done for the American people .......
I'm a small business owner as well. Sarah Palin scares the hell out of me. Like Gail said in comment #1; she's a sociopath.
As for adding a third party... that would be my second preference. My first preference would be for there to be NO parties and for all voters to actually have to vote for individuals, based on their ability to perform the job they are seeking. No more straight-party tickets.
I also hope that one day Americans will realize that religion doesn't define a person. Atheists can and do have morals just like Xians. What religion someone is (or isn't) has nothing to do with their ability to do their job. I don't vote for people just because they're atheist or non-Xian. Nor - surprise, surprise - do I always vote for Democrats/Liberals. I vote based on the PERSON.
Which brings us back to Sarah Palin. Sarah Palin will use any national or local tragedy to draw attention to herself. She will turn some part of it around so that she's the victim. Then she'll let fly with the insults and 'revenge'. Is that someone who should be in charge of a nuclear arsenal?
Are you so unsure of your beliefs that you are afraid to write Christ? Religion does define a person. Athieism is a religion as much as Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, or and of the other uncountable religions in the world. A disbelief in something is as strong as any belief.
Just for grins and giggles, I looked up the Profile of a Sociopath. From it I gather I am pretty much of a sociopath as well as all the people I have met, know, am related to, have read about, and who has some sort of celebrity status. Check it for yourself: http://www.mcafee.cc/Bin/sb.html
smallbiz...Sorry, I am an independent. That means I can vote for whomever I believe is most qualified. I was a Republican until that party became bossy, overbearing and all too male dominated. I don't specifically have a problem with a third party. I just don't see that as an answers to the problems of the two parties that exist.
In my view, two parties are supposed to compliment each other in their goals and directions. Not be constantly at war with each other. There is much that can be accomplished if two parties work together. There is no reason in the world both parties cannot have differing views that process into a single common good for the entire country.
No, it's called abbreviation. It's especially common among those who aren't Xian, which is somewhat amusing, since "X" represents a cross, and has historically been used as an abbreviation for Christ.
"Xianity: From Χ, the first letter of Greek Χριστος (Christ)"
Watch the video, you can see in her glasses that she is using a teleprompter. The point is she is an enormous hypocrite for trashing Obama for using a teleprompter then she uses one herself. Most people use them now but she had to run her mouth about it for partisan bickering and it makes her look like an even bigger idiot
wow. read your post. something about running your mouth with partisan bickering making you look like an idiot. Funny how some people can point fingers but don't know what is in the mirror.
AP & MSNBC, You guys amaze me, as usual, only showing the negative remarks, while others have said there is nothing wrong with using the term "Blood Libal" people read up for yourselves, quit following these dishonest media types.
Placing blame anywhere but on the Maniac himself for his actions is such BS.
Palin or Anyone would defend themselves when blamed unjustified like this, Loughners own best friend said he didn't listen to talk radio or have a chosen political side or care about any of the crap you guys are trying to claim, just to gain more hatred for Palin.
I believe half the people out there who don't like Palin if asked, would likely say they don't really know why they dislike her, just that they dislike her, and it's only derived because they listen to dishonest media sources, instead of educate themselves and make their own decisions.
Whether or not Loughner was influenced by Palin's inane blatherings is inconsequential to the main idea of these discussions. That she and others regularly use comments that I see as intended to incite is what is important. There should not, by ANY party, be the use of firing fully automatic weapons as a political tool, the use of slogans such as "Don't retreat, reload" the use of gunsights, the statement by a potential Chief of Staff for a politician saying, "If ballots don't work, bullets will". What has been suggested is that there should be personal responsibility. I agree. The Supreme Court decided a long time ago that yelling fire in a theater is not free speech. How are these comments that are intended to incite any different? If Conservatives wish to use the idea of personal responsibility, they must exercise it themselves. There are myriad other ways to express their ideas without the effort to incite violence. I see these people as using those who potentially are unstable as unwitting pawns to act out what these unscrupulous politicians actually desire, giving them then, the opportunity to deny personal responsibility.
Whether or not Loughner was influenced by Palin's inane blatherings is inconsequential to the main idea of these discussions
Nemisis, There is no evidence at all to indicate that Loughner was influenced by Palin so it is relevant to the conversations at hand as from the very beginning before the shooter was even identified there were those(including a sheriff who should have known better)who were already placing the blame for this tragedy ,I have no problem with having discussions about the type of political campaigning and the use of certain words and phrases but do not try to use the tragedy of others as a campaign event or a platform to further an agenda as is currently being used.
I see these people as using those who potentially are unstable as unwitting pawns to act out what these unscrupulous politicians actually desire, giving them then, the opportunity to deny personal responsibility
Would that include those people that instigated the people who opposed Arizona's immigration bill, You know all those non violent people who assaulted citizens and police, burned police and privately owned vehicles, Smashed windows on businesses,Rioted and destroyed public property.
Nemiesis has a point. Its not just the rhetoric used.Consider the fact that she and others invented talking points to push themselves on us...."death panels"..
..."Muslim" "born in Kenya"...."Sleeping with terrorists"....etc,etc,etc.
Getting in front of a camera and lying to 300+ million Americans....well I dont know about you,but that insults my intelligence.
She deserves all the criticism we can heap on her .This country needs serious fixing, not mindless trash and drivel .
She has no responsibilty for the actions of Mr. Loughner. He paid no attention according to a friend, about politics. I didn't see Obama's speech. Is he now going to rent himself out to give a speech, wherever five or more people are killed?
Why would anybody be interested in what you have to say if you didn't even listen to Pres. Obama's speech? Why would anybody be interested in what a right wiong hater has to say anyway? Take your place along side Ms. Palin as irrelevant.
Most people "hear" speeches, JW Valentine only looks at them and even when he doesn't even do that makes negative comments about a person concerned about the country rather than the gun toting, money making, power hungry narcissistic person in Alaska.............must be getting really cold up there to numb the thinking process into forgetting that people were killed and then only talking about yourself.
I watched the speech, Can you honestly tell me that the purpose of the speech was not politically motivated, Can you honestly say that no politician there(Democrats and Republicans) did not use the event as a means of garnering support for themselves. Democrats pollsters themselves came right out and said that President Obama need to do exactly as Bill Clinton did in 1995, Be honest, Everything a politician does is engineered towards adding to their political base.
The event was supposed to be a memorial in remembrance to those who were killed and injured, With all the clapping and cheering I thought I was watching a campaign rally
So now tell me who has used this tragedy more for their own political advantage.
....... My President was talking about the VICTIMS ........ Palin was talking about herself .... hardly mentioned the victims ...... and ....... My President was honest which is more than i can say about Palin.
Mischief9...And our president went to the people...they didn't have to come to him. I think that speaks volumes of the heart and soul of who Barack Obama really is. This is not the first time he reached out to the people of this country. He did the same when TX had their tragedy last year. It's all about the man's inner sense of honor.
John W. Valentine...You didn't listen to President Obama's speech because it would have caused you to have to open your mind to what others see and hear and you can't. More's the pity. 14,000 people in AZ listened to his speech.
It was a credit to all Arizonians who showed that in time of trouble there is no bias and they respect leadership.
MSN are you crazy? You keep this woman in the news and she has no business being in it except for celebrity.
Sarah Palin on the day of the memorial for the nation comes out with a look at me video. Yesterday was not supposed to include her it was supposed to be solely about the people who died and one day should have been focused on them. She was incredibly disrespectful posting that video yesterday.
Sarah Palin...shame on you! I guess you are so self absorbed that even the death of a nine year old doesn't keep you out of spotlight. FOR SHAME!!!!!
I guess the same can then be said about last nights press coverage of Obama!
"President Obama...shame on you! I guess you are so self absorbed that even the death of a nine year old doesn't keep you out of spotlight. FOR SHAME!!!!!"
Hmmm, yet the news media and even this site, over the past few days, have been calling Palin out ("silence is deafening" comments)... Then she finally makes a comment and the idiots say "Shame on you"? If you all, and you know who you are, start adjusting now, you won't be stung as hard come 2012 when your one hit wonder is sent back to Chicago! lol
You miss the point. He used his political stature to gain ANOTHER "photo-op" and speech, instead of letting the country as a whole concentrate on and the spotlight shine on grieving families. He said nothing that news commentators across the channel spectrum had been saying since the shooting!
The woman has gumption. What she doesn't have is a plan, a clear presence on the issues, and credibility. She quit the governor's job. She is singularly unqualified.
YUCK! The 3 Stooges are better than Palin any day and I would vote for a 1000 Obamas over this women. She is just disgusting. She has no clue what planet she is on.
Let me see if I understand the "Hate Palin Writers venting here." You call her a quitter because she resigned under fire for false charges made by her haters. Charges that brought her family to near bankruptcy yet the court found the charges baseless and the Palin family deep in financial pain from lawyer cost. She chose her family to protect over her political position. How awful!
When she uses a phrase, "Blood Libel", as to what it means today, the haters ignore current meaning and dig up the two thousand year old meaning to smear her with. When the haters found that she used target cross-hairs for a illustration, they really got their lust in a boil, what they failed to notice was, mainstream media has been using this illustration for at least the last sixty years that I know of. What is really funny is their definition of reload, a verb meaning to refill the dryer, or camera, or firearm, but in how she used the term, it meant to have the courage to start again.
All this baseless hate seems to be well, baseless, like the simpletons behind the “Hang’em High Thought” are letting abhorrence drive their brains instead of clear concise thought.
On the contrary it is perfectly relevant to this thread, The Palin haters have stated from the moment of this tragedy that Palin was the cause including on the very day of the tragedy and the day of the memorial, She chose to defend herself, By your own words you justify her defense of herself.
sobi...Wrong. Palin has a plan. She is anti-government. She just doesn't dare say that out loud because she knows what would happen if she did. And, as for 2012, President Obama will be then have pulled this country back from a mess, we'll move on with our lives and hopefully restore our position as leaders in the Free World. You can remain in that rut if that suits the fogeys of the right who seem to love to remain in ruts. The rest of us are ready to move forward with the President who has done more in 25 months than Palin could do in a lifetime.
What's her real claim to fame today? She shot another moose? She went whitewater rafting in Dutch Harbor? Puhlease...this woman is an embarrassment to every educated American woman.
Obama-Reid-Pelosi have increased our debt from $9.5 to $14.5 trillion in less than 3 years. Now China is flying stealth fighters and doing war games with a potential foe...US! Yeah, they've "done more"...TO America, not for it. Go Palin. We need a Patriot that will cut the size of this corrupt government, and open up our lands to energy-harvesting, and get us out of the Middle East.
Obama has done alot alright.... We are closer to being run like France than at any time since the Federalists were in power. We voted for change in Washington not the change of America. We needed a revamping of hour health-care, not the biggest Albatross ever passed by congress. We needed new jobs building nuclear reactors, solar farms, high speed rail, oil refineries, renewable energy and drilling in Alaska but the unemployment rate is still at double digits. We need better corp. tax codes so American companies don't outsource.
You are right on one count, she is a polarizing figure.... and like Bush, Obama, Hilary, Reed, Franks and Pelosi, they do more harm for America than good.
I only wish that McCain had never picked Palin for his running mate. We could have avoided this endless parade of Palin news. McCain's legacy will now be how he handed a national spotlight to someone who never deserved it and now we are stuck with it.
StewHammond...I have a strong feeling the chair of the RNC had more to do with that. When you study McCain in contrast to Palin, McCain is a far more revered politician and she was a nobody. But, a nobody with ties to Big Oil in Alaska. She was getting her paybacks for her acquiescence over that mess with Exxon. I think if McCain really had a choice, he'd have gone for either Olympia Snowe if it had to be a woman or Huckabee who was already a known entity.
IF it wasnt her, it would have been someone else just as extreme. The politicians we elect and the people that become institutions on TV and in the media are there as a reflection of who we are attracted to. The country loves Palin becuase she reflects who we are right now, not the other way around.
She is a very selfish, ignorant woman who does not care about the American people but her own agenda. Her own ego. That is her agenda. Shame on you Sarah Palin! I hope the "tea party" can now see what they are made of.
her popularity only soars with comments like yours, and others i've read! if she is such a 'loser' then why is everybody wasting their time bashing her? is it that they feel threatened? c'mon, after obama the office of the presidency can't get much worse. history first with a black man, then second with a woman. sorry hillary this was not your destiny. if voters vote like they did in the last presidential election (hmmm colin powell, i seem to remember you deserted your party affiliation to support the 'brotherhood') get accustomed to president palin. as i said, for a nobody, she seems to be generating a lot of people's time and energy. god bless america!
RevC...They aren't "wasting their time bashing her"....they are expressing a public opinion which they have every right to do and which Palin has every right to see and be aware of. Public opinion is nothing if not influential.
Sarah Palin is loved by the country because she reflects who we are as a nation. We want to believe, not think. We want to see the world the way we would like it to be, no matter what the facts say. We dont want to engage in critical analysis of complex situations, we want easy answers based on ideas that make us feel good. We want to shoot first and ask questions later. Black or white, wrong or right, we hate shades of gray.
You must be confused, that would be Obama your talking about, a wolf in sheeps clothing! Palin has more wisdom and knowledge about how this country needs and should be run more so than any other political figure out there. She says it exactly the way it needs to be said, black or white no gray areas for her.
Don't look now, but Sarah Palin isn't very popular. Why? Because she represents exactly what most Americans don't want: An inflexible, intolerant one-trick pony.
Palin is in the most advantageous position possible for a politician. She has no real responsibility, and can pick and choose what issues she wishes to weigh in on and when, without the weight of being held accountable for tough decisions. Even so she's managed to blow it - big time!
Palin's career as an aspiring politician is over. She's clearly proven that she can't beat her own shadow - never mind a real challenge.
Well lets see Tenangryhamsters: intolerant: the woman is married to a native american union guy; her biggest allies in the Alaska legislature were DEMOCRATS, her most active enemies were big oil republicans. And that is where this insane vitriol against her started, isn't it? The republican camp that didnt want her making the oil companies come to the table and pay more for raping the state of Alaska. btw: Palin turned down a pay raise long before she was picked for vp or started making real money...you idiots on the left better get a grip before you drive the last of the white male progressives like myself straight into the arms of the Republican party...
Sara Palin can now take her place next to Father Coughlin, Huey Long, Joe McCarthy and George Wallace - other minor historical footnotes.
The secret has been broken. The Jews do not own the language. They do not have permission to take offense when others use the language.
you people are like a bunch or piranha ripping away the flesh of its prey or rabid dogs not caring who or what is in the way. omg Thanks MSNBC, Krueger, Clinton, CNN
Slow down I am sure there is enough blood and flesh around for you to chew
Blind hate, hope everyone feels better and proud of their meaningful contribution!!!
Your mommy wears army boots!!!! LMAO
NA NA NA Nanny goat!!! LMAO
I did not, did to, did not, did to!!!! LMAO
Didn't take long after the speech
Sarah knows where it came from. She selects some of her "off the cuff" comment phrases carefully and with intent to rile.
MIke ....thats quite a broad brush you are painting with.
I expect the left to loathe the Tea Party.
Anyone else see the rage on Sarah "cross hairs" Palins face?
Or was it just my imagination?
OMG!!
"AZChzhd
"AZChzhd
MIke ....thats quite a broad brush you are painting with."
....Perhaps, but I've seen other comments like yours, even got an email from a misguided soul with whom I went to school, showing pictures of all the Tea Party ladies saying why that makes the GOP the better party (there are no bounds to stupidity, apparently).
....There is an old saying, "If the shoe fits......."
John McCain shall henceforth be known as Dr. Frankenstein because he's responsible for the creation of this monster.
Joplin,
That is funny.
I think even McCain didn't think this monster would take life on its own. The choice to pick her was clearly an attempt to attract women voters. It was a calculated PR move that backfired. Unfortunately for him, she quickly became a liability.
No wonder McCain's so cranky. Even he's pissed off about inflicting Bloody Sarah on the world!
"It's alive!! It's alive!!!!!"
Also, the sight of Yosemite Sarah's face fills me with anger and disgust. She'll never be my leader.
ENOUGH RHETORIC ABOUT THE RHETORIC!!!!
Mike-416,
I find it interesting that the TP was created AFTER Obama got elected.
Did anybody learn somethig from President's Obama speach. It seems to me he was talking to rocks.
"Mark Knight
What is it with Liberals and Ms Palin?"
....Got news for you Mark, it's not just liberals, a lot of us independent (even GOP) moderates can't stand her either.
I don't think Palin is going to run for President , be expose and be a target for another fanatic of the "Communist Manifest".
People like Sarah are never wrong. If you produce facts to prove her wrong, she still wasn't wrong, you just misunderstood her!
Nothing more than a bunch of school yard bullies.
Thats how I feel this morning
Disgusting.
The people you say Ms. Palin can now stand beside were in many ways powerful and influential. I hope she doesn't reach that level.
If you want the status quo and you want nothing to change, you are no American.
dawg3, you are suspended for a day for violating rule # 1 of the Code of Honor.
My apologies. I didn't realize how strongly my 6:30 am post sounded.
There are folks here who would claim Sarah Palin was to blame if hell froze over. Get real the shooter is the only person to blame here.
and goebbels
"True leaders serve with compassion, intelligence, determination to stand for their ideals and defend all of those they are sworn to serve."
Says the Obama voter. I love how you don't even see the irony in your statement.
I don't see it because it does not exist. I suggest you have your own eyes examined.
Well then, let us dissect this shall we?
New definition of 'blood libel': hurting someone's feelings by telling the truth about their actions so badly that they seek sympathy from their fans.
Sarah Palin is a loser - not a leader!
Sister Sarah has not the mental capacity to lead ants at a picnic!
I am sensing the spiritual presence of a great man? Yes it is President Reagan!
PeAcE LoVeR-2838047,
Sarah Palin is like the accident you drive by. You really don't want to look by you have to....
you people are like a bunch or piranha ripping away the flesh of its prey or rabid dogs not caring who or what is in the way. omg Thanks MSNBC, Krueger, Clinton, CNN
LMAO
Didn't take long after the speech
...... Yeah , she's an accident all right ...... and like everyone knows ..... accidents can be avoided ........ at least the smart people know it.
thatsafirst try Prozac .... the side effects might help you ...
Peacelover is delusional!
Probably feels cheated over the costs of those two hardcover books, looks for a way to minimize the waste. Can always put em on E-bay honey!.......
If, by president, you mean of the NRA or some PAC. She will never be president of the USoA. Cash bet.
Is this forum the new "Trivial Pursuits????"
PeaceLover,
I so disagree with you.
Aha! Communist censorship at work again!
"Sarah Palin is a commanding presence in America, when she speaks all of America takes note!"
The same thing happens when Osama Bin Laden releases a video. I don't thing that reflects his likelihood of getting elected to the Presidency.
I guess I really should rephrase my post so as not to get collapsed by the leftwing censors. ''cant we all just get along''
Wow Mr. TenAngryHamsters, You said in your statement here that Palin is a loser. Yet over on Fox Propaganda Nazi pages you float along with those kooks.
When will this stupid cow go away?
PeaceLover...Did Obama look scared to you last night in AZ? He looked the picture of the quintessential American leader to me. There wasn't a dry eye in that audience of 14,000 who when our President was finished speaking stood and gave him a resounding round of applause. They felt as most of us did that his leadership unified us as a nation. So...people like you can now stop your incessant need to divide.
Mac101....Jealous you can't be Jewish? Or just insecure about your own accomplishments?
PeAcE LoVeR-2838047
since your post was collapsed by the COMMUNITY it would be democratic not communist.
thatsafirst: "you people are like a bunch or piranha ripping away the flesh of its prey or rabid dogs....... "
....In all due respect, you're the one sounding like a rabid dog.
Mac,
No one can own words but certain phrases have specific meanings based on history. When repeated enough, the phrase takes on a new life (meaning).
Origins of the myth go back to the 12th century and the myth was created by CHRISTIANS!!! Learn some history before you write something silly like that.
bayllie...Actually, it goes back farther than that...try the Egyptians. See? Even history can be skewed in its transcendencies.
You don't listen your leader, for how long are you going to continue with your vitriol, and game of character assesination, it is easy To see the mote in another's eye and not the beam in one's own.
ewent,
I agree. See, I will have to research that, too.
Doesnt feel so good does it?
bayllie...I so agree with you.
Palin isn't nearly so terrifying as those who follow her and cheer her on. And the most terrifying thing about them is their numbers.
I'm sorry I could not disagree more. Obama is the loser, I would take Palin over Obama any day.
ewent,
I think some people fail to acknowledge the fact that we live in a time of instant news and instant information.
Excellent! Take her far, far away!
baylie,
Sarah Palin is like a car wreck...
That was f'n priceless!
Ewent,
Isn't that sort of a central theme of liberalism?
Reality check - life is complex and messy..... no easy answers to these questions.
thatsafirst, stop comment spamming. You are suspended for a day.
bwhahaha, yeah right. Reality will intervene in your little fantasy...
Did Sarah blow her big chance? You betcha!
Last night we saw the difference between a real leader concerned about the country and a loser only concerned about herself!
You are correct, I too think that Gov Brewer is a great leader!
They all did well! Wow, that hurt! I'm not sure how long I can be non-partisan... the other side is so stupid!
This is plain and simple people. She is just andIDIOT! Period. And an extreme embarrassment to women. YUCK!
Come on now folks ...... Sarah is just another politician! What do you expect?
Once again the left wing meadia stirs the hate pot! The hate is just pouring out of the left wing loomies.
Correction: The hate is pouring out of America! Finally, a person who has earned the hate!
The loathsome reposte by Bloody Sarah was an atrocity delivered at a time of great mourning. This vile inhuman creature knows NO limits! She should be right there in a cell with Loughner as his co-defendant. Jared was despondent over a girl friend let him have his way with her.
"a person who has earned the hate!"
Very peace loving that statement. Sarah Palin could have said "I love little puppies" and she would have been tore apart for it. I admire Sarah. Will she ever be president? It is more likely there will not be an America to be President of.
Anyone who can happily incite violent threats against everybody else but comes out self-righteously attacking a woman now fighting for her life has earned it! Now America has had ENOUGH - can you hear me now?!
Governor Brewer is one step from Palin. An embarrassment.
Could you picture Palin as president meeting with world leaders and throwing out her "you betcha" and winking at them? God help us all.
Sarah Palin pulls her own strings, who pulls barack obama's?
Joe
"Bloody Sarah"
mind if I steal her new moniker?
bboomer-1466467
Attacking someone's words and/or actions does not equal to wanting someone incapacitated or dead. Where do you see these posts you are referring to? I dislike Palin very much. I think she is an opportunist, liar and a hypocrite. But the last thing I want is to see her, or anyone else, dead.
Hey Bloody Sarah
Yesterday was the anniversary of the earthquake in Haiti. Weren't you the one to tell us not to forget?
Did you forget?..cause I didnt get any twitter message from ya
QED!
Bloomer and NCarolinaGirl:
Well said. At least there's a few rational people on this site.
Palin is the quintessential republican; she refuses to accept any responsibility for her words or actions.
Extreme myopia, incapable of civil discourse and obsessive compulsive personality disorders abound.
sreeeeminglib:
If you kin brand a cow in Texas you kin brand a pig in Alaska!
You betcha you kin! (There was a murderous limey in the Revolutionary War I borrowed it from.)
Exactly! The hate coming from the real Americans toward those who want to destroy our way of life, our heritage, our economy and our individual liberties by turning us into a totalitarian Marxist state have EARNED our hate. Good one, I totally agree!
bullseye!!
Well I hope she does get the nod to represent the GOP. It'll be great for weeding out the crazies once and for all.
She's too much of an unknown quantity for the controlling corporate money party... fun on a night out but can't live with her.
Yea we do not need one back to back.
hampster...Palin blew it when she tried to defend irresponsible language in her speeches.
Bloomer and NCarolinaGirl:
Well said. At least there's a few rational people on this site.
What does that have to do with Sarah Palin inciting violence in her base?
@Mike - It doesn't have anything to do with anything - it's a canned insult - makes her feel superior. Don't know why, but it does.
Mike, I think we just heard from her base.
Mike - It has nothing to do with it. But that's because it isn't happening.
"quit cryin you lefties. you've been exposed for the partisan idiots you are. turn out the lights in your parents basement get off your duffs and get a job."
Lol is rife wit teh irony lololol
JFOX: How insulting and not on topic. I own my own business and am in the 1% of wealth, used to be a Republican and now cannot stand 5 min of FoxNews. I consider myself intelligent and can spot a fraud when I see one.
You are probably living in your parents basement.
Sarah Palin, as the old saying goes, opened her mouth and removed all doubt!
Ain't it a shame to be shot down in flames? Wacky tea-nut-baggers take note: this is what happens to nutty people who think they can threaten their way to power!
BRAVO Jesse you are a fine man of the Enlightenment who cares about his fellow human beings. All Men are Brothers!
jfox - I am a registered Democrat, US Navy veteren, husband of 26 plus years, father of 2, hold a BS degree (that's Bachelor's of Science in case you were wondering) a Master's degree and I have been gainfully employed for my entire adult life.
Ewert
I had to laugh after reading your post and reference to "ample butts"
Every time I see the tea party referred to as TP I always think of toilet paper
screeeeminglib...Sad to say but the first time I had the occasion to see a group of Tea Party members, most had bellies as big as their always opened mouths.
Mike-416,
jfox, like peace_lover, obviously has problems, best to ignore them, in some cases these are just people deliberately playing troll to aggravate others trying to make calm, sensible postings, so paying them no mind will deny them that pleasure.
She would be making a mistake at working at improving education levels in this country. All she would be doing is destroying her base.
It would be interesting to know who her handlers are.
"Some people have 'misunderestimated' her and called her stupid"
Those are the same people that watched her interview with Charlie Gibson.
I'd say they have just cause.
Yes, queen of the nut-bags. How one must burn with pride to be regarded by America as nutty, stupid AND violent!
As compared to who..our currently elected crop of political thiefs(includes both sides of the isle)
Palin is not even a current elected official so how could she do anything , I am no Palin fan and would not vote for her but lets be realistic.
AncientGreek you are funny! How can you hold up a booger-eating moron like Bloody Sarah as a Machiavelli ?!?
Richard348 .. Exactly! .. & where do they go from here ...
Ancient Greek...I don't respect anyone who dares to exploit people they know are less educated. Maybe that's a little too altruistic. But, whenever anyone tries to insult the intelligence of another, they are the ones who show who and what they are.
ewent:
I guess you don't respect Obama, either... He is the king of it!!!
So many knocking themselves out and trying to one-up one another with ever stupider comments calling Palin stupid.
With the exception of Pappa and maybe one other, is this block of messages the puberty groups' corner?
Don't worry about Sarah running - her chances are slim to none.
I wanted her to run. Painfully ironic and the right-wing personified. It would have ended the republican party.
Political Prisoner 2012 The Republican party will never die .. it's only a political envelope, plastic & malleable .... to be manipulated and reshaped at will ..
The Republicans are proud of their whack jobs running around the country.
nwnative...I'm not sure I agree with totalizing all Republicans that way.
In the last 150 yrs the entire demographic has flip-flopped.
in 2012 The American public will remember the Republican party almost inflicted this woman on the country. They won't be happy.
Exactly. Loserville. I would love to see a Palin/Obama debate.
nwnative, is that debate with or without telepromter?
It's time for the 20-somethings to grow up and get their noses out of the video games.
ewent:
Comparing Palin to Charles Manson? There is absolutely no proof that Loughner followed Palin's websites, tweets or speeches. There is no proof that is the reasoning behind the shooting. It's all pure speculation. Just because it's out there on the internet doesn't mean everyone saw it (I didn't, but that's because I don't follow Palin anyway). For anyone to continue blaming those other than Loughner, is just as irresponsible and manipulative.
Just tired of the rhetoric about rhetoric.....
Aggie:
If "Lady" Gaga changed her underwear it WOULD be news!
Palin is like the Kardashians - irrelevant.
She secured her footnote place in history - failed right-wing politician and propagandist.
Nothing to see here. Move along.
Prisoner - I think it is difficult to call Palin irrelevant when everytime a story appears that even mentions her, it results in thousands and thousands of posts. And, given her obvious influence on the recent elections, she is apparently effective politically. Polarizing, perhaps - irrelevant, hardly.
Sorry, in the grand scheme, she, like all reality show stars, is irrelevant.
Keep telling yourselves that ktbu and PP.
Palin has a really good PR staff. No one would care a whit what she says or does if it wasn't shoved in our faces at every turn.
Gosh Jeff, get a life. Didn't you hear ONE word Obama said? He was talking to and about YOU with the "hate" sh%#
I'll make you a deal... I'll get a life when you get a sense of humor. ;)
Jeffor: #10.6...That's your idea of humor? I'm so sorry for you.
That should be greedy opportunist. That part does bear repeating.
Be careful what you wish for people, sometimes you might just get it!
is that a threat? So funny.
dave are you threatening Gov. Palin?
No, I beleive Dave is playing his cards just like Palin does. She is no one special, just the opposite. Everytime I see anything about her on TV, I turn the channel. She is NOT news worthy in my opinion.
wait a minute its not a threat when the left says it, only when a concervative does
No, I am not threatening anyone.
Hmmm. God hail the queen!
Me I will thank them brave men and women at the original tea party!
They are the ones who paved the way for the name callers, and finger pointers of today.
And yet you still believe what they tell you.
Obviously you never saw the map. No targets on people. It was a map of the USA with 20 (count 'em) districts (not people) that were targets for turn over.
Democrats were using very similar maps on their websites too.
It saddens me when people make up "facts"
Ewent,
Although I doubt you could get a law like that passed, I don't really see why it would be a problem.
I'd say numb describes her better than unrelenting.
If Sarah won't take responsibility for the "color" of her message, then why should the respondents? Rhetoric is a double edge sword and the first amendment is the first amendment.
Palin has not defined herself. A weak news media bought the Sarah image. She has no message.
Keen instincts. On the day, victims are memorialized--the ones that were killed--Sarah memorializes herself. Just to show that she won't be silenced, she engages in the same old vitriol on a day of mourning. I guess if the victims had been Republicans she would have shown them more respect.
id say ego maniac describes her ...... and an ego maniac with no actual ideas , just hate for anyone who opposes her.
Not to mention, all the more idiots and stupid people who voted for Obama in '08!!! We sure don't deserve what we've gotten!!!
Extremely insightful, original and clever.
Honestly - how do you people find your car keys in the morning?
........ well , it takes time to clean up a big mess created by those Bush cowboys from Texas ..... you ought to thank god for a man like President Obama you twit .. your damn lucky your not standing in a soup line ...... it could have been 1929 all over again ....
Ewent - the hell it is! Your attempt to make this a race issue is pathetic.
Sarah Palin is a sunt.
I agree, one hundred perkent!
Your asinine attempt at profanity is not humorous. It's just the intelligence of a six-year-old.
It was purposely dumbed down so Bloody Sarah could get it
glad you were able to understand it then. Have a good day!
bboomer,
That statement was not meant to be humorous.
Palin is a sociopath and a danger to our civil society.
can't come up with any other names?
Wow, to have tunnel vision must be painful, or misleading. lol
Go Gail!
Can't argue with the facts!
I'm with you Gail I think she should be committed she's a moron can't talk doesn't understand anything except promoting herself and spreading rumors and hateful ideas she needs to go AWAY
She sure is a sociopath. I know a couple of those in today's world. No culpability and the "poor me" syndrome. Pure sociopath, and pure narcissist.
I will also say WOW but to someone who has summarized an issue so well and accurately that I cannot anything but praise for hearing the truth about a prospective "candidate" that cares only about money, herself, power and shooting everything including off her mouth. Her "base" of supporters should also undergo mental examinations I think
Amen. Could not have said it better.
L. Loughner out there.
thanks don, finally a post that makes sense.
Sad.
TinkerTronic...Put Palin beside a classy political woman like Kaye Bailey Richardson and you see an example of a silk purse and the sow's ear.
It's odd how the same people who use every version of "dumb b***ch" they can think of also accuse Palin of using very sophisticated tactics to rally her supporters and keep herself in the public eye.
So which one is it?
Dumb b***ch of crafty political sophisticate?
so funny to read these posts. Like what you kids say is relevant to anything. Read through all of the posts and see who the whiners are, the finger pointers, and name callers.
When you grow up, you won't be affiliated with democrats or republicans.
Â
Time for a 3rd party.
Sounds like you're in a party all by yourself, smallbrainz. Yippeee!!!
thats funny, are you a name caller? lol
Smallbrainz lol'ed his own comment. Yippee!!! a party all by himself!
@bboomer-1466467
So she's using a teleprompter. I didn't suspect she wasn't. That was a fantastic speech.
wow. read your post. something about running your mouth with partisan bickering making you look like an idiot. Funny how some people can point fingers but don't know what is in the mirror.
smallbrainz - you seem like the one with nothing to say -
thats funny
A fantastic speech? So appropriate for consoling the families of people who died over the weekend.
Muddy Maniac, Are you acusin Palin of being able to read JUST like our illustrial Leader?
Peace out, God Bless!!
As opposed to a left wing hater Ronald?
Hey! Mr. Ronald Hussein: Your 15 minutes have expired. Time to seek therapy.
Tony:
your 3 seconds(the time it took to read your post) expired. It didn't contain any relevant info, so it was a wasted effort.
Well said.
I guess the same can then be said about last nights press coverage of Obama!
"President Obama...shame on you! I guess you are so self absorbed that even the death of a nine year old doesn't keep you out of spotlight. FOR SHAME!!!!!"
" guess the same can then be said about last nights press coverage of Obama!"
Uh, he's the president. He was invited to lead the families in their grief. And he has enough sense to console the families, not himself.
Cyrix: It is you who miss the point and maybe you are guilty of "blood libel" against the President of the USA
Cyrix--sounds like you may be in love with Sarah?
Sarah can see 2012 from her porch.
The woman has gumption. What she doesn't have is a plan, a clear presence on the issues, and credibility. She quit the governor's job. She is singularly unqualified.
She is better than Obama any day.
YUCK! The 3 Stooges are better than Palin any day and I would vote for a 1000 Obamas over this women. She is just disgusting. She has no clue what planet she is on.
I didn't say Sarah was wonderful. I'd vote for anyone before I would vote for Obama.
Really..... YOU MUST be on Crack.......enough said....
Your riposte is unimpressive.
I don't see how your comment applies. Sorry...after all that effort.
Thats your problem sobi, You only see what you want to see,
His comment applied perfectly
His comment is copy-paste-spew which repeats multiple times from here on out. It is not even in response to this thread.
Palin used Metaphors. The same metaphores used a million time in politics. Ya lost the election in NOVEMBER......GET OVER IT.
I only wish that McCain had never picked Palin for his running mate. We could have avoided this endless parade of Palin news. McCain's legacy will now be how he handed a national spotlight to someone who never deserved it and now we are stuck with it.
THe American voter will remember the lack of judgment displayed by the Republican party in offering this zero up for high office. They won't be happy.
Please.....speak for yourself. I personally don't worship people.
She is a very selfish, ignorant woman who does not care about the American people but her own agenda. Her own ego. That is her agenda. Shame on you Sarah Palin! I hope the "tea party" can now see what they are made of.
Your wisdom is only over shadowed by the density of your thought. Jack Handi?
her popularity only soars with comments like yours, and others i've read! if she is such a 'loser' then why is everybody wasting their time bashing her? is it that they feel threatened? c'mon, after obama the office of the presidency can't get much worse. history first with a black man, then second with a woman. sorry hillary this was not your destiny. if voters vote like they did in the last presidential election (hmmm colin powell, i seem to remember you deserted your party affiliation to support the 'brotherhood') get accustomed to president palin. as i said, for a nobody, she seems to be generating a lot of people's time and energy. god bless america!
Andre-1867058
The republican camp that didnt want her making the oil companies come to the table and pay more for raping the state of Alaska. btw: Palin turned down a pay raise long before she was picked for vp or started making real money...you idiots on the left better get a grip before you drive the last of the white male progressives like myself straight into the arms of the Republican party...
a guilty conscience needs no accuser
nor does false accusation require proof, merely an accuser
