And what unlucky SOB gets stuck with Backmann? They ought to throw him some cash. I wonder if he'll have to say some strange pledge? MN has a congressional district that elected a legally insane witch.
Bachman was in Iowa a few days ago and I have to say she is even more crazy in person, if that is possible. People vote for this woman? I mean after going to see her speak they then go vote for her? Like wow man.
Where they sit at the State of the Union address does not matter. Longhair is right, it's a Dog and Pony show. Repealing Obamacare and getting out of the way of business so they can create jobs......now that is something I care about!
do you people even know what the word TEA means, taxed enough already. i sure the hell am, but dont worry, our fake communist president will lie to everyones face telling them he will do this and that and everything is going to be better, and as always the sheeple will believe him again. bahhhd sheeple wake up and stand up for whats right, and i mean the rights that our forefathers made for us, that these commis are trying to destroy.
Dear Ten Angry Hampsters...... I would sit with the Tea Partiers because you allow a complete idiot like Keith Oberman (spelling) to influence your opinion of them, all the while listening to a pathetic whining liberal democrat that filled the airwaves with vile trash. Thanks goodness your probably one of the few who watched him until they had to jerk him off the air. Now you can watch your president on tv telling us he is going to work on jobs. (i thought that was this past years focus?) and he will avoid the word "spending" and substitute with the word "investment" in order to mask even more spending that none of us can afford or should stand for. The guy just dont get it. He is nothing short of an elitist that thinks he is way above the rest of us and does not live in the real world. If he calls for more "investments" they should throw the guy off the air and just let him ramble about "hope and change" and all his other slogans to himself.. America has heard enough, and has seen what his and his democrat polcies have done for the last 4 yrs, and enough is enough. Wrecking this country was his ambition, and he has succeded.
This is a GOOD idea. Republicans CLEARLY need adult chaperones. If they start to shout or rudely interrupt the President like last year, their Democratic babysitter can "shushhh" them................or take them out to the Congressional restoom for a diaper change......
Dear Ten Angry Hampsters...... I would sit with the Tea Partiers because you allow a complete idiot like Keith Oberman (spelling) to influence your opinion of them
Actaully - its the conversations with tea party members... the attending of a rally... the pictures of them carrying racist picket signs... the story of a tea party member stepping on the throat of a female protester trying to exercise her 1st amendment rights... the carrying of an assault rifle to a rally.
Its all those things that present the unhinged, racist, fringe libertarians for what they are. I dont need Keith to tell me anything. Nor does Keith need to demonize anything the tea party movement does - they do a good enough job themselves.
Maybe the Dems should try to act like adults and actually listen to the speech. Instead we'll be treated to a bunch of children jumpinf up and down every two minutes to cheer. Classless fools.
PS - The Repubs are just as bad when their President gives a speech.
Thank God for the Tea Party. They are the ones who woke this country up and are responsible for the first half of the electoral cleansing that will be completed in 2012. By "cleansing", i also mean the phony Repubs who are just as responsible for the demise of this country as the Liberals.
None of the leftists who use this comment have been able to produce pictures of these so called racist signs. Unless of course you are one of thoes people who say that any disagreement with Obama is because he is black, and not the fact that he is a horrid President.
the story of a tea party member stepping on the throat of a female protester trying to exercise her 1st amendment rights...
I havent heard this one.. Anymore details?? Like maybe a link, or more information so someone could verify this.. instead of thinking you are making stuff up?
the carrying of an assault rifle to a rally.
Assuming you are talking about the AZ rally.. The one where the picture was proven to be hotoshoped. That doesnt matter though, because carrying a rifle, even an assault rifle is not against the law.
"Who will volunteer to sit with the Tea Partiers? A date with somebody suffering from raging PMS is no fun at all!"
.....Maybe they will because they know they will feel so much better when they get up and leave, you know, like when some people stop hitting themselves in the head with a hammer.
Bachmann's district is the NW metro area of MPLS up to St. Cloud. Every year there is some type of racist event going on in St. Cloud. This year the St. Cloud public school district is being sued for the alleged harrassment of Haitans in the school district.
Year after year, racist remarks written on downtown business walls, lynching of manacins(sp?) and other disparraging events.
Easy to see how they would elect a whackjob like her.
Perhaps the views expressed are not those of the majority of the Tea Party, but the signs exist anyway, and for the most part don't seem to be dealt with except for denial.
I will admit that I havent seen this untill today. I see what he is trying to do with the sign, but I will admit that it is a bit tactless. Though I do not see it as being racist..
He is trying to say there is a link to slavery and the tax payers of this country. I will admit that he cant spell either. Because in the context he is trying to use it should be a ....ER instead of todays slang which is an ....AR.
Words are just that, words.. Words are not racist, its the context that they are used that makes them fit that bill.
Apparently you only glanced at the first photo in each series of slides. Try scrolling through them. If you can't see why many people regard the Tea Party as wacky extremists then you simply don't want to.
I don't care if they sit on each other’s laps as long as they get this country going the right direction after Obama just about drove us off the deep end. If they don’t I see socialism in our future because that were Obama is taking us and some of you are too stupid to see it.
I hope comcast is not as far left as MSNBC, NBC I hope they clean house let them all go work for Obama or Emanue.l
Apparently you only glanced at the first photo in each series of slides. Try scrolling through them. If you can't see why many people regard the Tea Party as wacky extremists then you simply don't want to.
ohh no I looked at all of them. While they might be in bad taste, I have seen the basically the same signs ( the message ) at Democratic rallys.
You dont have to look very hard to find Hitler references to GW Bush either. IF you care to notice, the biggest sign in there ALSO names GW Bush at the bottom. SO it cant really be racist like you are claming when both white and black presidents are there.
SO ten Angry Hamsters.. Since these same signs have been shown at Democratic rallys, are you prepared to say the same thing about your party.( Hell im not even a TP member ) That the Democrat party is full of wacky extreamists, and if you dont see it then you dont want to?
This is nothing more than a feigned display of camaraderie. How stupid do these politicians think the public really is? They should put two giant playpens on the floor and leave it at that. All they do is rip each other apart, but now were supposed to believe there's something friendly and respectful between the two parties. Give me a break. We'll sit through the speech and they'll go right back to blaming. Can't wait to see the post-speech comments; I think they will have two very different views regarding the speech. I pray for this country. It's amazing that so many people have good solutions, and it's the politicians living very well off the people's taxes, that keep screwing up the works.
You dont have to look very hard to find Hitler references to GW Bush either. IF you care to notice, the biggest sign in there ALSO names GW Bush at the bottom. SO it cant really be racist like you are claming when both white and black presidents are there. -Jeremy
Actually, I wasn't the one who made the racist claim. But I will say that it's no stretch to say that the Tea Party is the party of choice for bigots. That's not to say that they don't have representation in all the other parties as well, but not anywhere even approaching the TP.
You can claim that the Tea Party is pure as the driven snow, or just like all the other parties if you wish - I won't waste my time debating it. All of America will make that judgment, and many of the votes are already in on that one. I have to say, though, that I've never seen ANY party field so many candidates who are just plain nutty.
None of the leftists who use this comment have been able to produce pictures of these so called racist signs. Unless of course you are one of thoes people who say that any disagreement with Obama is because he is black, and not the fact that he is a horrid President.
Well... Ill admit I did not record the conversations with the tea baggers and I did not snap a photo at the rally I was at - but it did stop in Erie, PA in April. You can verify the rally.
Tell you what... Google "racial signs tea party" and look at Google Images. All the evidence you need.
I havent heard this one.. Anymore details?? Like maybe a link, or more information so someone could verify this.. instead of thinking you are making stuff up?
I wont try and provide a direct link because you will likely discount it as the liberal media so what I would recommend is Googling "rand paul assault" and pick a news avenue. Theres pages and pages.
Assuming you are talking about the AZ rally.. The one where the picture was proven to be hotoshoped. That doesnt matter though, because carrying a rifle, even an assault rifle is not against the law.
Yes there are unsavory parts of the movement, but to claim they are the choice of bigots you are sadly mistaken.
Your right, many of the votes are in on that one, AND the votes were positive. The TP people beat out many established members from the other parties. There are more people in this country who identify themselves as Tea Party members or supporters ( Last poll I saw was 38 percent or something like that ) who call themselves Liberals. Sorry Liberal is a bad word now, Progressives.. The simple fact is you believe what the media tells you instead of going and making your own decisions about something.
While I am not a TP member, I have been to TP gatherings.. and bigotry wasnt even in the same zipcode.
You have someone who was sent there by Obamas Moveon.org to cause an issue. While stomping on her head went too far, IF I was paid to protect Rand Paul, and someone in a wig came running through the crowd at him I would of put her on the ground as well. She went there WITH THE PURPOSE of causing a mess to get his name in the papers with a negative light. There is no other reason for a Moveon.org contracter to do that. The reaction went too far, but it is what she wanted. not trying to defend it or say it was right in anyway.
I think you need to look up what Racist means. Most of thoes signs you get back from the google search are not racist by any means. There are some, but not many. It is kind of like the one sign that said.. IT doesnt matter what the sign says, you will think its Racist. Pretty much sums up the lefts position on anything Anti-Obama.
Jeremy- The problem is that you cannot see the racism in #1,2, and 10.
And you said: "Words are just that, words.. Words are not racist"
So what would be racist? Gestures? Of course words can be racist. And in the context they were written, the intent had racist overtones written all over them.
american- Portraying Palin as Hitler is not racist, unless 'Hitler' is a race. Nor is wishing death on Bush, though that is quite unwise.
Only 60 house members out of 434 -1 will agree to sit next to someone from the opposite party? Wow that new era of bipartisanship the republicans promised sounds like it is really working. (heavy sarcasm)
If Sarah Palin were a member of Congress, I bet John McCain would agree to sit next to her, and hold her...(hand.) Ever notice how he leers (I mean "smiles") when he looks at her??
If I were a Republican, I wouldn't want to sit next to a Democrat. Would give America the impression I approved of how the Democrats have been destroying America.
Only 60 house members out of 434 -1 will agree to sit next to someone from the opposite party? Wow that new era of bipartisanship the republicans promised sounds like it is really working. (heavy sarcasm)
so NOW the Dems are worried about Bipartisanship?
What happened to the last two years? The Bipartisanship that OBAMA ran on? That ended with Reid and Peolsi didnt it. Now that you know for 100 percent fact that Republicans can stop your " progressive " movement you all of a sudden cry for Bipartisnship..
If I were a Republican, I wouldn't want to sit next to a Democrat. Would give America the impression I approved of how the Democrats have been destroying America.
DOOM! GLOOM! WAR! NO TAXES!
*yawn* Nothing to see here folks. Same old garbage.
The hypocracy of this whole thing is absurd. Dems are just trying to play down the fact that Reps are a majority and make it seem like a more favorable speech for President Obama. Don't get me wrong, I think bipartisanship is important in some ways, but seating assignments are not the true gauge of that. Once again Americans are satisfied with trite, superficial answers to deeper problems.
javadanny, I respectfully disagree with you. I don't care where anyone sits. I care about what the President is going to say to ALL the people of this country. He's the one that will set the tone for the next 2 years. He won't be able to get by with another "we won" type of attitude as he had during the HC debate. He won the job of President because he brought a large number of Independents to his side with promises of a change in how Washington would conduct itself. There was no change. We The People got to see how DC really works; backroom bargains that added more to our deficit, lobbyists still in control, favors to special interests, etc. Where anyone sits will make no difference unless there is a major attitude adjustment within Congress and that will only happen if the President shows he's willing to help make it happen.
javadanny, I respectfully disagree with you. I don't care where anyone sits. I care about what the President is going to say to ALL the people of this country.
You dont care about a less hostile and more synergistic congress? You dont care that they should be working together instead of sniping at each other? You dont care that they are trying to tone down the hate rhetoric? Shining beacon of patriotism - you are.
They're not trying tone down any rhetoric. They're playing politics with seating. Just sit down where you have for over two hundred years, each side of the aisle.
They've spent a week debating who's going to sit next to whom. If they're going to change the seating, line up A to Z and be done with it. You'll end up sitting next to someone from the other party. Stop the games.
Mike, oh I do care, probably more than you realize. I listened to the President call for a stop to the rhetoric when he spoke at a memorial service and in less than 24 hrs one from his own party was on the floor in the House calling people Nazi's. It's not where they sit that will make a difference, it's the actions they take when they go back to work that I will be interested in. I'm not interested in a show, I'm interested in results.
You dont care about a less hostile and more synergistic congress? You dont care that they should be working together instead of sniping at each other? You dont care that they are trying to tone down the hate rhetoric? Shining beacon of patriotism - you are.
This is such hogwash. Sometimes, working together is not the answer. Political opposition and decent is necessary to counteract very reprehensible things. "Working together" and "bipartisanship" have netted us eighty years of a progressive march toward socialism. And all this breathless talk about "hate rhetoric" is clearly an attempt at repression of opposing viewpoints and nothing more. Isn't if funny how all these sensitivities always come up whenever the Democrats get kicked out of congress?
John Galt..... I'm a Republican...and I think your comment is pretty dumb as well.
I do care where they sit because if they are spread out they don't have the "bully backbone" to count on when they act like snotty children. People are far more likely to behave civilly if they aren't seated with their like minded friends. Sadly, our elected lawmakers tend to behave as if they are still in Junior high..though looking at some of the comments here they are reflecting the behaviour of some of their more ignorant constituents......Its not a huge step...but its a good thing for at least this event.
John Galt..... I'm a Republican...and I think your comment is pretty dumb as well.
Of course, you are welcome to your opinion, but you haven't said anything that contradicts my actual points. When a conservative constitutionalist works together with a progressive on their agenda, the slide is always incrementally to the left. You can't deny it because we have eighty years of empirical evidence. We can't continue in this regard because our nation is bankrupt. We can't afford to continue to work with them on their agenda and on their terms and using their PC semantics. We need to roll back much of what has been built "together" or our country will face a crisis the likes of which we have never seen before. It will make 2008-2009 look like a day in the park.
Meh....who is John Galt? Sorry. I couldn't help myself.
So if this is like prom, does that mean in 9 months we will have some mutant offsprings from these dates? *shutters* Let's hope nobody has twins running in their families.
You act a lot like a progressive since you can't seem to discuss the content, but have to stoop instead to calling my statements dumb. Are you sure you don't regularly vote for Democrats? If you were running for congress, I'm pretty sure we'd be referring to you as a RINO. ;)
1st of all I would like to say that Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va is 100 percent correct.
The only people who give a damn about where anyone sits, are the partisan hacks. The people who want to see everything working like it is supposed to be, couldnt give a rats arse.
You dont care about a less hostile and more synergistic congress? You dont care that they should be working together instead of sniping at each other? You dont care that they are trying to tone down the hate rhetoric? Shining beacon of patriotism - you are.
Yet somehow you think that a simple seating chart will accomplish this?
ALL of this is 100 percent partisan politics. The article even tells you why they are wanting to do it...
From the article.....
The result could be helpful to Obama as he delivers what is effectively the first speech of his re-election campaign. Rather than serving the traditional visual of the president's party popping up on one side of the chamber for dozens of standing ovations, the applause will be more evenly spread, perhaps giving the illusion of wider acceptance.
John Galt..... I'm a Republican...and I think your comment is pretty dumb as well.
I do care where they sit because if they are spread out they don't have the "bully backbone" to count on when they act like snotty children. ................................
I have to agree, well said. Unfortunately, people often behave with the pack mentality you see in animals, which when on their own, are no problem, but when they get into a group, e.g., domestic dogs allowed to run free, can become vicious. Still, this seating could be only cosmetic and without substance if tomorrow they go back to Capitol Hill behave like the same old immature jerks as in the past, and I mean BOTH sides of the aisle.
When a conservative constitutionalist works together with a progressive on their agenda, the slide is always incrementally to the left. You can't deny it because we have eighty years of empirical evidence.
------------------------------------
......1. If someone starts out in the extreme far right position, the only room for movement has to be to the left, but that doesn't mean the result is bad, i.e., it ends up on the left end of the spectrum instead of somewhere in the moderate middle, which I admit, is still anathema to some extreme conservatives (not all conservatives are extreme, there are moderates, but apparently the Tea Party doesn't like them, hence Whiz Kid Christine O'Donnell won the GOP NJ senatorial primary, and that is troubling, I voted straight GOP for years, but after watching them the last 2 years, they've lost me, and I will not become a liberal or DEM, so I'm stuck in the middle with no hope in sight).
.....2. How does your statement work with the way the GOP completely watered down the attempted financial reform bill last year, much to the benefit of big banks and Wall Street.
.....3. Could you please post your "eighty years of empirical evidence"?
If someone starts out in the extreme far right position,
It is not EXTREME RIGHT to be for the constitution and a government that is limited to the powers laid out in it. This is just one of the methods by which the radical left hijacks the conversation.
How does your statement work with the way the GOP completely watered down the attempted financial reform bill last year, much to the benefit of big banks and Wall Street.
The financial reform bill is yet another attack on entreprenurship and small community banking in the U.S. and is yet another example of the crony capitalism and massive rules and regulations that Democrats just love. I would have walked out on it too.
Could you please post your "eighty years of empirical evidence"?
You can't see it with your own eyes? Social Security, bankrupt, Medicare, bankrupt, Medicaid, bankrupt, as a result, federal government, bankrupt even though they spend a whopping 25%+ of the GDP of the country. Trillions and trillions of dollars confiscated from the private sector to grow and grow and grow the federal leviathan and no real problems have been solved. We still have rampant poverty and crime, we still have corruption, we still have massive waste and fraud, and yet, what is the progressive response? To grow it some more. Please....
Oh, I'm being accurate, it is those cooked reports that are not. The trustees know that there are no actual assets in those programs, and that they are relying instead on the imaginary "trust fund" that has all accrued to the federal government. So they rely on accounting gimicks and the "full force and good will" of the U.S. government to fund them either through increased tax revenues, major cuts in benefits, and/or printing of money. They are failed Ponzi schemes.
"This is just one of the methods by which the radical left hijacks the conversation"
.......and this is just another method by which someone on one end of the spectrum can't handle disagreement and has to begin throwing out unfounded accusations or insluts by calling the other party "radical left", which I am not, I want to see our government meet in the middle.
"he financial reform bill is yet another attack on entreprenurship and small community banking in the U.S. and is yet another example of the crony capitalism and massive rules and regulations that Democrats just love"
.....I don't recall where the bill was concerned with small banks, but rather the large ones dealing with high risk investments like derivatives, you won't find any small, local banks heavily involved in this, and after what these wonderful examples of entreprenureship did to this country, common sense would dictate we put controls in place to prevent that from happening again, maybe you don't mind being dragged down by someone else, but plenty of other people do. Tell me, did you love the big bank bailout just before the 2008 elections? Want to see another one?
Ooooh, riiiight. The people who run and oversee the programs don't know what they're talking about, but you do. Okay.
You really aren't aware that the "trust fund" has been raided? I thought everyone knew about this by now, but maybe you haven't been paying attention. All that is in there are a special class of U.S. Treasury securities as the money either goes to pay current benficiaries or is "loaned" to the U.S. government to cover some of its debts. If a real investment fund were run this way, the managers would all be in jail.
.......and this is just another method by which someone on one end of the spectrum can't handle disagreement and has to begin throwing out unfounded accusations or insluts by calling the other party "radical left", which I am not, I want to see our government meet in the middle.
So lets see, you call the right "extreme", and then called the left "radical", but mine is an unfoudned accusation or an insult? What does that make yours? I do see much of the left as radical because they want to ignore the constitution (by calling it a "living document") and transform our society to something totally alien.
.....I don't recall where the bill was concerned with small banks, but rather the large ones dealing with high risk investments like derivatives, you won't find any small, local banks heavily involved in this, and after what these wonderful examples of entreprenureship did to this country, common sense would dictate we put controls in place to prevent that from happening again, maybe you don't mind being dragged down by someone else, but plenty of other people do. Tell me, did you love the big bank bailout just before the 2008 elections? Want to see another one
Your not recalling it doesn't make it so. This abominable bill has over 1600 sections and totals over 2300 pages. It places a whole new set of regulatory and reporting burden on banks of all sizes and dramatically limits the ability of smaller banks to compete against the goliaths, it makes bailouts a statutory mandate, and creates an expensive new regulatory body to oversee the whole mess. And that is all packaged up with a lovely bow and called "financial reform", otherwise known as reactionary, backwards looking regulation that grows government.
'So lets see, you call the right "extreme", and then called the left "radical", but mine is an unfoudned accusation or an insult?"
..first, I didn't call the entire right extreme, I referred to those on the right who are extreme (just as there are extreme people on the left), I specifically made a point to say that there are moderate GOPers, you have learned how to truth/fact twist very well from Mr. Beck. I also did not call the left extreme (although some are), I referred to your comment which used my post to illustrate how the extreme left hijacks the conversation, which can only mean you were calling me someone on the extreme left, you don't read very well.
By the way, hijack? HIJACK! You can only hijack soemthing that belongs to someone else, are you saying this whole thread is your property, and the rest of us are not allowed to comment, at least i we choose to disagree with you? Talk about arrogance.
The mandatory bailout in the financial reform bill you mentioned was not that at all, but a requirement for large banks to increase their reserves to sufficient levels so that bailouts would NOT be necessary in the future, again some nice Beckian truth twisting.
So are you saying SS is solvent as long as its not raided?
It's a moot point. It already has been raided. The assets are long gone. There is no way to tell what its condition would be if there were a real trust fund.
I don't watch or listen to Beck. This is just another tactic you guys use to attempt to discredit your opponents. Why do you do this? Do you really think it's effective? You can't possibly believe it's truthful since you're implying a generalized smear with it.
When I say "hijack", I mean that you are not engaging in a conversation in an above-board, good will manner. To use a metaphor, you are throwing nails and oil out the back of your car to try to derail your counterpart in the conversation. Perhaps the correct word would be "dominate", but no matter, that is exactly what you're trying to do.
And no, the financial reform bill did far more than increase capital requirements. The bill provides for all manner of continued bailouts to financial institutions deemed "too big to fail". in fact, within a week of its passage, the Obama administration was leveraging the new act to pump billions of dollars in to prop up the housing market by helping unemployed people in default make payments on their homes. Additionally, it did nothing to address the largest institutions where we are still hemorrhaging money, namely Fannie and Freddie.
Very good recommendation! That is probably the best solution I have heard in this whole thread, just line up A-Z and get it done. I also like the irony of a preschool method being employed on Congress, serves them right :)
We the people of the United States, in order to try and give off the image of a more perfect Union, have devised another public relations schema, to avoid really addressing the fact, that we have a gun problem. So, in order to kindle the vaguest notion of the principles of liberty, we shall sit at this State of the Union Address together. We shall show very little emotion, in order not to tip the scales of temperance, in the direction of the general welfare of the people, for that may adversely affect polling numbers. Finally, in order to preserve my occupational posterity as a representative, I shall go on either MSNBC, or Fox according to party and rank, following the State of the Union, and still not talk about the policy issues that affect the American people. There shall also be a CNN, for representatives to posture themselves as moderates, but still there shall be no talk about guns, the homeless, the violence against women, nor shall there be any talk about how to make college and medical care more accessible to everyone.
Resolved that the preceding artificial ideas be glutted through airwaves, so that people believe that we are making progress as a country.
We don't have a gun problem Jason, we have a problems with letting mentally ill people do what ever they want, until it is too late and they commit heinous crimes.
yeah, why can't we just keep 'em locked up in the basement like the good 'ole days? deep withing each of us lies the ability to become "mentally ill", ever lost a child to the hands of another. ever lost a wife to a drunk driver? believe me when i say, i don't want a gun, but i will defend your right to carry.
fredex...I agree 100%. I would like to see more cohesion amongst the representitives of Iowa, and seating them together might foster more communication.
The mixed seating thing is little more than a stunt, or at best theater. I would be one thing if it was sincere but it is not. One would hope that the seating deal could be done out of mutual respect even by opposing sides. If that were the case I would think it would go something like the following.
Russian Translator: The general would like to know if you will drink a toast with him.
Patton: Thank the general and tell him I have no desire to drink with him or any other Russian son of a bitch.
Russian Translator: [Nervous] I can't tell him that!
Patton: Tell him, every word.
Russian Translator: [In Russian] He says he will not drink with you or any Russian son of a bitch.
Russian general: [In Russian] Tell him he is a son of a bitch, too. Now!
Russian Translator: [Very nervous] He says he thinks you are a son of a bitch, too.
Patton: [laughing] All right. All right, tell him I'll drink to that; one son of a bitch to another.
But alas that is not the case and because this is theater it is both disingenuous and a mistake.
Senator Sanders doesn't want to cut Social Security or Medicare-Medicaid so just where are we going to make some cuts? I got an idea that would possibly work out great. Let Senator Sanders bring up that Unaffordable Health Care Plan up for a vote in the Senate and lets see what happens. A good debate on the cost of that plan and the funding that it will take away from Social Security-Medicare-Medicaid would be good for the American People to hear.
Since we can not afford Social Security-Medicare-Medicaid then sure can not afford their the brand new Obama-Care Plan that they passed with the Democrats in the majority. No bi-partisanship needed the Democrats had the necessary votes. Old fool.
I feel, that with everything going on in our country, and around the world, that we Americans should really ban together, and focus on how our representatives will be sitting during the State of the Union Address. Our country is doing so well, we should be analyzing party popularity, like two school boys deciding which frat to join. I mean people, we are a well oiled machine...with parts from China, and the finest Cambodian craftsmanship. So, if we are debating as Americans, you bet we're debating about seating arrangements!! Because we have nothing better to worry about...!
I'll bet the liberals would love to sit by somebody gay so they can finagle another group of votes! How about the black and hispanic caucuses? We've all seen how they pander to those two groups. What happended to Maxine Waters trial in the House?
I see vocabulary is big on the right wing agenda...I know you guys can quote the bible left and right at abortion rallies, but how come you always skip the parts about treating others kindly, and not judging other, and so on???
I see vocabulary is big on the right wing agenda...I know you guys can quote the bible left and right at abortion rallies, but how come you always skip the parts about treating others kindly, and not judging other, and so on???
How about you back your train up there Jason... You dont have to look any farther this this very vine to see people from your side of the isle doing exactly what you are accusing geri of doing.
Thoes who live in glass houses should not throw stones. ( or something like that )
I do not believe this is a good idea. Nothing but window dressing, at best.
"The people," contrary to that freshman Republican from Arizona, do not "want" to see it. And some say that Udall's idea is self-serving, as he tries to obscure the larger number of Republicans in the House, vs number of Democrats.
Since the Arizona shooting was by a single deranged individual, not political, and by a far leftist at that, it is disingenuous to associate this crime with the partisan rhetoric which flows constantly...even from Obama.
Obama "scolded" the court? How disrespectful. What actually happened was that Obama was ignorant of the US law and stated that foreigners could contribute to American political campaigns (of course there are many who suspect that significant contributions to Obama in 2008 came from foreign sources...but he refuses to reveal his donors). So shocked was Justice Alito that he mouthed the words, "Not true." Please get your reporting straight in this story.
How can you say this "by a single deranged individual, not political," and this: "and by a far leftist" in the same sentence? Either it was political or not. And there's no evidence for the latter claim.
Apparently, Republicans are sliding back into their old routines since the November elections. Why the f*** should they sit with people who are so diametrically opposed to Republican beliefs... unless their beliefs are not so different than the liberals. Maybe the Tea Party was right: maybe there really IS a difference between Republicans and Conservatives and Tea Party supporters.
How stupid. Who cares??? Is anyone going to watch anyway? Never listen to what Obama says, just look at what he does...it doesn't match. Who cares what the Democrats (who always booed Bush and were the rudest and most offensive of all the politicians) are just trying to make it look like anyone cares what Obama says. Actually, neither the Democrats or the Republicans are interested in what the people of this country want, thank goodness for the Tea Party.
Yes yes. Thank goodness for bigoted, libertarians that dress up in powdered wigs, carry racial epithet signs and put their foot on the throats of woman trying to exercise their first amendment rights. Thank goodness.
What took them so long?!! I've been telling my husband for years that they should have mixed seating in congress. Getting to know each other as people instead of as adversaries would be beneficial. One wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb if one wanted to vote different from the party line. The way it is now, they don't have to do any homework. They don't even have to think --- just follow the party line. When one side says yea, the other side says nay. Only a few have to do the work and the others just follow like sheep. What an easy job that must be!
At speeches, it looks like bad behavior to have one side stand up and clap while the other sits poker-faced. I would guess that mixed seating would probably eliminate much of standing that shows such partisanship. The listerners can clap (or not) and still look like a body we can respect.
What took them so long?!! I've been telling my husband for years that they should have mixed seating in congress. Getting to know each other as people instead of as adversaries would be beneficial.
Come on, do you seriously think they are going to "get to know each other as people" during a couple of hours of sitting together at this speech tonight? It's all a show. They all get to know each other in the cafeterias in the Senate and House office buildings. Most of these guys and gals don't have such enmity with each other that they don't talk casually or play the occasional round of golf together, have dinner together, etc. Many of them on both sides of the aisle know each other quite well from interacting socially in Washington and elsewhere.
Our political system is enough of a circus already, why add to it by silly crap like this? Ridiculous partisanship is alive and well, and will continue on it's non-productive trip to usually nowhere.
This is absolutely stupid. Totally nonsense. Just another democrat distraction to get people focused on the things that don't matter instead of the issues. The people want solutions and action on all the major issues, NOW, but oh, we are going to sit together, wow. What a bunch of hog swill. A bunch of 4th graders that shouldn't be there.
The entire speech and surrounding circus is nothing but atmospherics and theatrics anyway, so who cares where they sit? Maybe everyone should wear jammies and make popcorn and play spin the bottle while they're at it. Here we are in some serious deep dog doo, and these guys are worried about who they sit next to for the event!?! Are you kidding me?!? Are we all in fourth grade? George will summed it up best recently when he said "If it's going to be a pep rally, with...whatever party standing up and braying approval, and histrionic pouting on the part of the other, then it's no place for the judiciary...for the uniformed military, ...for non-adolescent legislators".
Well, we can certainly see why YOU are never invited on a second date!
Who is this "we" you speak for? Are you an elected official? Are you going to cozy up to your friends across the aisle and play "truth or dare" before the speech?
In the immortal words of Saturday Night Live's church lady..."isn't that special."
Kind makes one feel all warm and fuzzy don't it? Give me a break! These clowns couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag. The national debt is zooming at the speed of light...all talk no action. But, take heart folks.........we're playing musical chairs and everyone's holding hands. There's only one thing more fake than this; World Wrestling Federation.
This is a bunch of liberal crap.I don't like what the democrat liberals clowns stand for and I think is is a joke to sit together and hold hands.I don't want to see anyone suposidly representing me doing this.
Sam i am
I understand the premise for why you are saying what you are saying. It is a giant facade. yes. "Bunch of liberal crap..." that is where you loose me...liberal meaning not bellicose??? not being at war...liberal? don't get it...lost me.
Who will volunteer to sit with the Tea Partiers? A date with somebody suffering from raging PMS is no fun at all!
Hey! Its "We the People" not "We the Republicans and the Democrats!" It will be great.
Let the Prom begin!*
* It would be pretty funny if they wore those two tone wide lapel powder blue tuxedos from the 70's (hey I'm old, okay -just reminiscing)
Communists sitting with Nazis. Who would have thought it possible?
I think that would be a great start to better relations amongst our politicians, its time for those children to learn to get along ....
Dog & Pony show.
Just one more way to avoid dealing with the critical issues facing the USA...
So true... so true.
Who the hell cares where they sit? At the end of the day, ALL TALK AND NO ACTION MEANS NOTHING!
Where they sit at the State of the Union address does not matter. Longhair is right, it's a Dog and Pony show. Repealing Obamacare and getting out of the way of business so they can create jobs......now that is something I care about!
you get out of the way of the business of reuniting america.
You get out of the way of business by ending business killing bills and trade agreements. Reuniting America cannot be complete without it.
You mean like Barney Frank ?
do you people even know what the word TEA means, taxed enough already. i sure the hell am, but dont worry, our fake communist president will lie to everyones face telling them he will do this and that and everything is going to be better, and as always the sheeple will believe him again. bahhhd sheeple wake up and stand up for whats right, and i mean the rights that our forefathers made for us, that these commis are trying to destroy.
Why can't these fools act like adults?????
Mike,
Thank God for the Tea Party. They are the ones who woke this country up and are responsible for the first half of the electoral cleansing that will be completed in 2012. By "cleansing", i also mean the phony Repubs who are just as responsible for the demise of this country as the Liberals.
@ Mike, funny how you see this stuff about the Tea party no one else sees......
None of the leftists who use this comment have been able to produce pictures of these so called racist signs. Unless of course you are one of thoes people who say that any disagreement with Obama is because he is black, and not the fact that he is a horrid President.
I havent heard this one.. Anymore details?? Like maybe a link, or more information so someone could verify this.. instead of thinking you are making stuff up?
Assuming you are talking about the AZ rally.. The one where the picture was proven to be hotoshoped. That doesnt matter though, because carrying a rifle, even an assault rifle is not against the law.
Be nice to the libbienuts folks.....they are lost now that Saint Keith has been removed from his low-rated show on the low-rated network MSNBC.
"Who will volunteer to sit with the Tea Partiers? A date with somebody suffering from raging PMS is no fun at all!"
.....Maybe they will because they know they will feel so much better when they get up and leave, you know, like when some people stop hitting themselves in the head with a hammer.
"Communists sitting with Nazis. Who would have thought it possible?"
.....Beautiful, and the real people left standing outside in the cold, as usual.
Mikey - You're an idiot! Your imagination is working overtime. Do you have anything at all to collaborate you mindless blather?
Mel,
Bachmann's district is the NW metro area of MPLS up to St.
"None of the leftists who use this comment have been able to produce pictures of these so called racist signs"
Really? How 'bout this one: http://washingtonindependent.com/73036/n-word-sign-dogs-would-be-tea-party-leader
And there were several in here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/04/16/10-most-offensive-tea-par_n_187554.html
Perhaps the views expressed are not those of the majority of the Tea Party, but the signs exist anyway, and for the most part don't seem to be dealt with except for denial.
I like the post the other day about the Arcade game Wack-A-Mole
So I’m going to play tonight Wack-A-Lib. I have my rubber maillot, and every time I see a Lib stands up. I’m going to BONK them on the TV screen

These politicians are bought-off by the corporations that pay for their campaigns. Who cares where they sit?
DrDrGimmetheNews
OK lets start with this one...
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/04/16/10-most-offensive-tea-par_n_187554.html
What is offensive here?
The Obamas plan, white slavery ? The last day sign? the How will I pay for it sign, or the Im not your ATM sign? or the Abolish the Fed sign?
I have seen that link before, and I dont see anything wrong with those signs.
And this one,
http://washingtonindependent.com/73036/n-word-sign-dogs-would-be-tea-party-leader
Jeremy:
Apparently you only glanced at the first photo in each series of slides. Try scrolling through them. If you can't see why many people regard the Tea Party as wacky extremists then you simply don't want to.
I don't care if they sit on each other’s laps as long as they get this country going the right direction after Obama just about drove us off the deep end. If they don’t I see socialism in our future because that were Obama is taking us and some of you are too stupid to see it.
I hope comcast is not as far left as MSNBC, NBC I hope they clean house let them all go work for Obama or Emanue.l
ohh no I looked at all of them.

Best comment on the thread. Thanks!
Well... Ill admit I did not record the conversations with the tea baggers and I did not snap a photo at the rally I was at - but it did stop in Erie, PA in April. You can verify the rally.
Tell you what... Google "racial signs tea party" and look at Google Images. All the evidence you need.
I wont try and provide a direct link because you will likely discount it as the liberal media so what I would recommend is Googling "rand paul assault" and pick a news avenue. Theres pages and pages.
http://articles.cnn.com/2009-08-18/politics/obama.protest.rifle_1_protester-assault-rifle-obama-event?_s=PM:POLITICS
Carrying an AR 15 to an anti-Obama rally. Not photoshopped.
Where have I claimed they are pure?
Mike-416
On the rand paul thing.. I went to the link below ( 1st one that came up )
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/10/25/rand-paul-supporter-stomps-head_n_773857.html
Here you go. Democrats are always so lovable and kind to all.

With the seating chart getting more press than the speculative contents of the speech, we as a whole are in some pretty deep trouble.
If Sarah Palin were a member of Congress, I bet John McCain would agree to sit next to her, and hold her...(hand.) Ever notice how he leers (I mean "smiles") when he looks at her??
If I were a Republican, I wouldn't want to sit next to a Democrat. Would give America the impression I approved of how the Democrats have been destroying America.
so NOW the Dems are worried about Bipartisanship?
What happened to the last two years? The Bipartisanship that OBAMA ran on? That ended with Reid and Peolsi didnt it. Now that you know for 100 percent fact that Republicans can stop your " progressive " movement you all of a sudden cry for Bipartisnship..
DOOM! GLOOM! WAR!
Republlicans have the majority in the House only. Democrats still have the majority in the Senate.
To Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va. We actually DO give a rip.
javadanny, I respectfully disagree with you.
You dont care about a less hostile and more synergistic congress? You dont care that they should be working together instead of sniping at each other? You dont care that they are trying to tone down the hate rhetoric? Shining beacon of patriotism - you are.
Yes I care but this is just show biz.
Its show biz to stop acting like a douche?
Dumbest thing I have ever read. Stopped reading there.
Let me guess, you're a progressive....
You want someone to argue with you that cooperation is bad?
2nd dumbest thing Ive ever read.
Keep it up - you're on a roll. And while I am socially liberal and fiscally in the middle - I dont think that defines me as a progressive.
Mike-416
Yet somehow you think that a simple seating chart will accomplish this?
ALL of this is 100 percent partisan politics. The article even tells you why they are wanting to do it...
From the article.....
The result could be helpful to Obama as he delivers what is effectively the first speech of his re-election campaign. Rather than serving the traditional visual of the president's party popping up on one side of the chamber for dozens of standing ovations, the applause will be more evenly spread, perhaps giving the illusion of wider acceptance.
2Wylde4U
John Galt..... I'm a Republican...and I think your comment is pretty dumb as well.

................................
It is not EXTREME RIGHT to be for the constitution and a government that is limited to the powers laid out in it. This is just one of the methods by which the radical left hijacks the conversation.
The financial reform bill is yet another attack on entreprenurship and small community banking in the U.S. and is yet another example of the crony capitalism and massive rules and regulations that Democrats just love. I would have walked out on it too.
Please....
"Social Security, bankrupt,"
Not according to their trustees: http://www.ssa.gov/oact/TR/TR08/II_project.html#105057
"Medicare, bankrupt"
Again, not according to their trustees: http://www.hhs.gov/news/press/2010pres/08/20100805d.html
Let's be accurate, okay?
Oh, I'm being accurate, it is those cooked reports that are not. The trustees know that there are no actual assets in those programs, and that they are relying instead on the imaginary "trust fund" that has all accrued to the federal government. So they rely on accounting gimicks and the "full force and good will" of the U.S. government to fund them either through increased tax revenues, major cuts in benefits, and/or printing of money. They are failed Ponzi schemes.
Ooooh, riiiight. The people who run and oversee the programs don't know what they're talking about, but you do. Okay.
You really aren't aware that the "trust fund" has been raided? I thought everyone knew about this by now, but maybe you haven't been paying attention. All that is in there are a special class of U.S. Treasury securities as the money either goes to pay current benficiaries or is "loaned" to the U.S. government to cover some of its debts. If a real investment fund were run this way, the managers would all be in jail.

So lets see, you call the right "extreme", and then called the left "radical", but mine is an unfoudned accusation or an insult? What does that make yours? I do see much of the left as radical because they want to ignore the constitution (by calling it a "living document") and transform our society to something totally alien.
So are you saying SS is solvent as long as its not raided?
@AtlaswillShrug
Jason, not bad except you forgot JOBS! Real jobs, not just more gov't positions to further drain the economy. Oh, and immigration, the illegal kind.
Jason!
Now...that...was...AWESOME!
Jason, wouldn't it have been easier just to say, "I wish the government would just find a way to provide me with everything while I do nothing?
We don't have a gun problem Jason, we have a problems with letting mentally ill people do what ever they want, until it is too late and they commit heinous crimes.
yeah, why can't we just keep 'em locked up in the basement like the good 'ole days? deep withing each of us lies the ability to become "mentally ill", ever lost a child to the hands of another. ever lost a wife to a drunk driver? believe me when i say, i don't want a gun, but i will defend your right to carry.
I'm in favor of seating congress alphabetically by state. It just makes sense to but folks next to their neighbors.
That would put Alaska way off to one side of the room. Would they still be able to see Russia from there?
Good one Trsh, make fun of a state because of their geographic location!
Gee Trish, where would that put Hawaii?
I think Trish was poking fun at Alaska's doofey ex-Governor...not the beautiful state.
Teacher Trish?
Wow, did one of your first graders give you that line?
fredex...I agree 100%. I would like to see more cohesion amongst the representitives of Iowa, and seating them together might foster more communication.
Its funny cuz its true.
Actually, Alaska would have to look over Alabama to see Russia from thier seat......
No dis to sports fans, but I am with the Bears on this one.
This should fix everything.
I'll bet the liberals would love to sit by somebody gay so they can finagle another group of votes! How about the black and hispanic caucuses? We've all seen how they pander to those two groups. What happended to Maxine Waters trial in the House?
Nice post bigot.
And no - you dont get to call me a bigot for calling you a bigot.
who would want to sit next to a scum bag democrap.
I see vocabulary is big on the right wing agenda...I know you guys can quote the bible left and right at abortion rallies, but how come you always skip the parts about treating others kindly, and not judging other, and so on???
Here, have a Midol. Fix you right up!
How about you back your train up there Jason... You dont have to look any farther this this very vine to see people from your side of the isle doing exactly what you are accusing geri of doing.
Thoes who live in glass houses should not throw stones. ( or something like that )
What is my side of the aisle? I have no side...One giant open room, no aisles...
When you say the "people of this county," you mean unhinged people of this country, no?
Yes yes. Thank goodness for bigoted, libertarians that dress up in powdered wigs, carry racial epithet signs and put their foot on the throats of woman trying to exercise their first amendment rights. Thank goodness.
This is a small step for Congress towards working together but a giant step for America who will profit with some positive results.
WE CAN DO IT!
Let us each help in working together to restore "A GREAT AMERICA. Each must step up and "Make a Difference". richard
Perhaps, but if you try to join in on 'spin-the-bottle' I'm definitely going to remember I have an appointment somewhere!
Should they get the little carpet squares out so they can take a little nap before they get started? Good God, we are getting so soft.
If it wasn't the country that I love, it would be laughable.
"These clowns couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag."
Cuz of course, that's why we elected them, to fight.....
Its better to set with a tea partier than to set with barney frank.
ol barney would want to play footsy all night .
You dont want to set with charlie rangel either the coruption might rub off on you.
Any original thoughts? Any whatsoever?
Sit? Um....You are right, and I am sure there no corruption in the Republican Party or in the Tea Bag Klan...
Ammazing how well the powers that be understand ' Divide And CONQUER '.
