The race listed for the father is "African". African is NOT a race. His father should have been listed as Negroid or Negro. The mother was listed correctly as Caucasian, not White or American. They should be able to correctly get the father's race.

Don't ever forget that this whole "birther" thing started with a Clinton supporter. Philip J. Berg was a former deputy Attorney General for Pennsylvania. He filed the original lawsuit to prevent Obama from running. This was never started by someone on the "right".

The birth certificate was made public back in 2007, but the birthers claimed that was a fake...so if it cost over $800,000, don't blame him...blame the birthers and the fools.

So the State of Hawai'i released a copy of the document that they had been claiming could not be released to anyone. It's amazing what a little political pressure can get done. If Obama had done this two+ years ago we could have avoided all the birther nonsense.

I like how they pointed out Republicans were the majority who are the "birthers". Where was the poll taken? A primarily republican state/region? They'll never say. The media can continue to polarize people the American public with passive left leaning agenda (not all media, but the majority).

On a side note, I don't think he needed to prove anything in regards to his birth. It is a cocern, though, that he would not be able to possess a securty clearance due to his significant ties to foreigh nationals (immediate family members). Anyone else here seen the pics on the internet, been on here for years? The one of the Clerk of Courts in Hawaii holding the damn thing, and several included images of specific details like watermarks and signatures and whatnot? There has been more than a reasonable amount of effort for years going into convincing the reality impaired that he is a natural born citizen.

You can get a copy, just like any other US citizen, simply by requesting it from the state offices. Obama and his crew did that back before he was elected. NO ONE can take the original copy from the archives!!! THATS the reason we have the archives to begin with!!!

MSNBC had a good article about the issue a couple weeks ago. The Hawaii State offical in charge of records asid she personally verified the original long-form TWICE in response to the "birther" nonsense. She cannot herself go into the vaults without another official representative, so there is very little room for any surreptitious fraudulent handling.

And if that does not convince the "birthers"....what about the two Hawaii newspapers that had his birth listed in their papers shortly after he was born? You think they were somehow forged...you know, go back in time to change the listing...........blah, blah......

Actually no, they released it to Obama (his attorney but the same thing) and he released it. Moreover, everyone forgets there were those challenging McCain's credentials too, it died down because he wasn't elected. 3) In January 2011, former Hawaii elections clerk Tim Adams has now signed an affidavit swearing he was told by his supervisors in Hawaii that no long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate existed for Barack Obama Jr. in Hawaii and that neither Queens Medical Center nor Kapi'olani Medical Center in Honolulu had any record of Obama having been born in their medical facilities.

The issue was settled years ago with the majority of people agreeing he is American. That didn't stop the birthers then, it won't stop them now. I'm also dying to hear Trump's next sound bite over this. The odds of him apologizing are slim and none, and slim just left the building.

While I am not a document specialist, I DO know something about original birth certificates being an adoptee on the cusp of the "movement" in the 1970's. And, I do know something about sealing records & the older laws of the lower 48 States. ( 1970's & before)

This document looks much like the one one I ORIGINALLY had when I was born, not the amended one I grew up with, used for a driver's license & a passport. Most of the U.S. States used a more detailed one than they use now.

In point of fact, I am going to my State's Capitol in June to assist a good friend of mine to get HER original birth certificate. I will, THIS time, take a much closer look at hers & in fact, am rummaging around today for MINE.

Now if B.O. would release ALL his other documents-Occidental College/Columbia/Harvard, etc., this entire subject could be closed FOREVER!

Before announcing his run for prez, W placed thousands of documents in his father's presidential library in Texas, therefore making access to these records nearly impossible. They are not subject to the Freedom of Information Act and takes much red tape to get access to them. One of the few smart moves by Bushie 2.

It should be noted that the impeachment was for lying under oath to a court and to congress. Which, by the way, is a federal crime in the US. And for which he was actually never put on trial for even though it was proven and admit to by him at a later time. Right now our biggest debate is over a health care concern (Medicade/Medicare) yet everyone acted as if hed lost his mind to handle heathcare first. My feeling is President Obama is grasping at straws here. If the release of this long form birth certificate is authentic and valid; why has it taken over three years and millions of dollars spent in court cases to obtain this information? Why couldn't Hawaii's former and current Secretary of State locate this document during multiple attempts to do so? Why wasn't the Director of Health in Hawaii able to locate this document after repeatedly searching? This doesn't even take into consideration the outside searches from DNC Chairpersons and others over the years trying to locate this document. Additionally, why did the Kapiolani Maternity and Gynecological Hospital refuse to release any hospital records or such a document when repeatedly asked to since 2008? Not to mention the Presidents' sister stating Barack Obama was born at two different hospitals.

No, this document needs to be authenticated first; before everyone accepts it as "the real deal." There are too many unanswered questions to do that. Not to mention the Mombasa Hospital in Kenya, that has a birth certificate on record and has released copies. Plus, Mombasa Politicians that openly state Barack Obama was actually born there. Not to mention the address on this document lends credit to the claim that a second record of birth was created in Hawaii by his grandparents. Why would his grandparents address be listed on this birth certificate; as well as the newspaper birth announcement a week later, and not the stated address of his mother and father in Hawaii?

However, all of this is academic... Barack Obama's father was Kenyan and regardless of where Barack Obama was born; he received automatic dual citizenship at the time of his birth. Last time I checked, the Constitution disallowed dual citizenship held by any President or Vice President due to conflict of Interest or loyalty issues. Even if this dual citizenship was automatically revoked or not in the 1980's; doesn't change the fact that Barack Obama never admitted he held dual citizenship until his mid 20's, during his previous presidential bid in 2008; or that he campaigned for his cousin in Kenya while he was a Illinois Senator. If he would hide these crucial facts from his own party and the American people, to what further extent will he go to secure the White House?

Furthermore, this doesn't even touch on whether there was an Indonesian adoption by his stepfather, Lou Soetoro, which makes Barack Obama ineligible for the Office of President. Indonesia revokes all prior established citizenships at the time of adoption completion and recognizes only their own. To date, there has been no record of any American Citizenship restoration by Barack Obama. This would have entitled Barack Obama to “naturalized citizenship”; not “natural born citizenship”; thus, also making Barack Obama ineligible under Constitutional Law for the Office Of President.

No, the location of birth (whether Hawaii or Kenya) has been a smokescreen to cover the real issue here and that is Barack Obama’s citizenship issue. Whichever way you look at it, Barack Obama is either a citizen of Indonesia or holds/held dual citizenship with Kenya and America. Either way, Barack Obama is ineligible for the Office of President. The real issue, his supporters and his party are attempting to hide from the American People is the citizenship issue. The Birth Certificate location issue was just a ploy to keep people from looking too closely at the citizenship issue.

What really gets me in these entire situations is the time lines of things.

1. Saddam has WMDs: Bush is blamed for this statement because he used it as justification for going to war with Iraq. Yet, he was basing this on intelegence data collected during the Clinton administration. He as making the decission on Clinton's data along with Clinton's State of the Union address where the term was first used along with the fact that history showed that Saddam had already used WBDs. Blaming him or the Replubicians for the stuff collected during Clinton's administration and not actually blaming the ones that started the mess is kind of wrong, dont you think?

2. Obama citizenship question: Stating that the Replubicans started this is kind of wrong too since it was Hilliary Clinton's own campaign group that actually started it. Furthermore, I do not see why questioning some of the details at the time was so wrong in the first place. Do you realize that the media was accepting the word of a single administrator that a document that was created in 1970 was the official proof of citizenship for a President of the US who was supposed to have been born in 1964 (? sorry, I may be slightly off on the actual year but it was assuredly before 1970).

That one person who is supposily the only person who can legally view the original long form was stating they saw the long form. And as proof of such, the provided for the public copy of a short form that supposily did not exist until 6 years later. And the entire media and many American people just except that has fact.

I do not see anything wrong with some people stating that they were not that trusting. I personally believe he was born in the US. I understand just fine, I just don't agree; that doesn't necessarily make me wrong or a racist. I don't disagree with everything Obama does and there are some major 'Republican' issues I don't agree with (the really big one ebing abortion rights).

I do not respect Obama because if his repeated actions that make him look like he does not respect this country. Yes we have plenty of problems, but having his 'solutions' shoved down our throats doesn't help matters.

I am also aware of the actions of Congress and the Senate, and they are not too concerned with the general public either. Every time they make budget cuts in important areas, they should be taking pay cuts. Unless they spend 20 years in their position they don't deserve full retirement. The very wealthy should be in a higher tax bracket with far fewer loopholes and deductions. They are the largest driving force in preventing regulations on the oil companies; since they own plenty of stock and probably don't pay for much of their own gas.

And I didn't criticize Bush for THAT action, not others. Just like I won't criticize Obama for standing up for abortion rights. But, no matter what anyone's reasons for disliking Obama, they are vilified by his followers who support all of his actions unconditionally even if he is not acting in the best interest in the country.

Well, Rene, I do not support his actions unconditionally, and I will NOT support any I deem not in this nation's best interest; however, Mr. Obama IS our President and I will support the President of the United States unless and until he gives me a concrete reason not to. Note I am saying support, not necessarily agree. I was the same way with Bush and with Clinton. I did not agree with Bush reducing taxes for the wealthy at the expense of our country, but I supported him as our President until he abandoned going after Bin Laden for 9/11 and instead invaded Iraq without just or legal cause. I disagreed with Clinton's marital infidelity, but supported his as President of the United States.

My major issue is when people criticize or withdraw support for Obama simply because he is black or Democrat or named Barak, etc. I believe in standing behind our President and trying to help make him successful until shown by fact, not opinion or fear or prejudice, that his policy or action is not beneficial to our country. A true democracy originated in ancient greece. Every citizen was able to speak and cast thier vote every time a law/decision was to be made. ( Just wanted to note that only the men were recognized as citizens)

A true democracy was not feasible when this country was created. The amount of time it would take for every citizen to vote on every decision without todays technology would have been very inefficient. Thus leading to the selection of representatives to vote on behalf of their constiuents.

Funny thing about getting sued over something like this, no matter now crazy the plaintiff is, you have to attain a lawyer, pay the fees and go to court, to get it thrown out of court. Actually, what has been said is that nobody gets a long form when they request a birth cirtificate. HOWEVER, you can get the long form through a Freedom of Information Act request, which is slow and labor-intensive for the state to comply with so they request people not do so. Also, Hawaii no longer accepts the long form as a *legal* document. It's informative, but will not gte you a drivers license, passport, or be used in any official manner anymore.

Although I'm not a document specialist, I AM very knowledge about birth certificates in the lower 48 from the 80's & before. I was on the cusp of the "adoptee" movement back in the 1970's & belonged to several groups, attended seminars & have spoken on the subject & done T.V. interviews..

This birth certificate looks much like the ORIGINAL one I had before it was sealed & I was issued an "amended" one upon finalization of adoption. I went to the Burea of Vital Statistics & was ushered into a room with a gigantic, walk-in vault & it was from there that I was showed my original B.C. & my Adoption Decree. In fact, I am going to my State's Capitol in June with a very close friend to obtain hers. (There is a loophole in the way it was written when we were born. But the law was amended so that those born after 1963, I think it is, can't obtain theres. Talk about inequality!) My friend & I both lived out of State when this was done & thanks to an adoptee organisation, I was able to find out; she never did until I told her since we recently reunited.

Now the B.O. camp NEEDS to release ALL his records including college to stop this continuing questions. I wonder why someone who sat in class with him or his professors don't come forward verifying his attendance? If he had opened all this up while running, it would have never have become an issue in the first place. I didn't realize it until I heard it this morning on T.V.-CNN, I think it was-that the Clintons had brought this subject up also.

What he received upon requesting a copy at the beginning of this debacle was the same certified copy short form that people now get. 40 years ago, many states were still giving out photocopies of the long form (but ONLY to the person listed on that birth certificate.) That procedure changed decades ago.

Okay, so let's assume he didn't spend millions defending the lawsuits. Let's say he spent hundreds. My point still stands. Why would he even spend one nickel defending these suits when he could have made them go away by producing the document that was requested by the plaintiff in the suit?

You can say he had to hire lawyers and appear in court, but did he really? If someone sues me and asks me to produce my birth certificate, and I say, "okay I will do so as soon as I can get the state to release my records," doesn't the basis for the suit just go away?

I don't agree with those who made an issue of this. But my point is that President Obama is just as guilty of making an issue of this as are Trump or any other Republican. He could have nipped this in the bud several years ago.

The fact that the birthers never questioned McCain's citizenship, despite the fact that he was born in Panama, would lend support to your statement.

And it took s Senate resolution to declare McCain an American citizen, if I remember correctly, because the courts were having trouble determining citizenship of those born in the Canal Zone. According to one report though, there was a law passed by Congress in 1937 declaring that any child born to TWO American parents after 1904 in the Canal Zone would be considered natural citizens. So it was an act of Congress that made McCain a "legitimate natural born" citizen. I wonder how that stands up to the constitution though. It took an amendment to the Constitution to make African slaves citizens.
