I thought I read an Article about Palin but somehow The President is the main topic for alot of the folks on here this morning.As far as Msnbc I don't see where they have slammed Palin on this other than to state a fact,There were a few 100 people that were disappointed because they did'nt get to see her.What they printed Palin a no show was indeed fact as she did not show up where some of her supporters were.The Palin supporters are just reading to much into the headline,I guess thats due to Palin.s knack for giving the press plenty of ammo almost everytime she opens her mouth.Hope she enjoys her vacation or tour whatever it is she is doing and I wish the media would just ignore her.

-she has no foreign policy experience; only Pres. Obama is allowed to run with no experience whatsoever
-she is always smiling which really pisses off liberals.
-she is extremely fiscally conservative, believes is responsibility for oneself; which pisses off all those who want to continue to receive gov't. handouts; including the cronies who run Wall ST.
She is great at rallying the troops, but if you agree with her you are a racist, plain and simple.
The sad part of this upcoming election is that our country is going down the toilet at a ridiculous pace, our dollar is worthless, unemployment is higher than the gov't. is letting on, the gov't is broke, the states are broke, the municipalaties are broke, and there isn't a damn candidate out there in any party who has the brains or the guts to reverse course and turn this country around.
I can see where "Fedup" could be easily confused.... And it could even involve the question of whether Obama went to Arlington yesterday. The self-same NBC that "Fedup" hates so much spent what seemed like an eternity reporting on Palin trying to take all the spotlight off the vets at the Freedom ride and very little time on Memorial Day. Oh, and then there were the interviews she did on the same bus that she's "Avoiding he media" on. So let me ask you this, why the bus? If she's staying in hotels it's not to sleep on. And you can get a very nice view from the window of a car so that's not it. And I'm SOOooo sure the reason couldn't be that it's convenient to do interviews on. Naw, she wouldn't do something liek that, would she? Opps! She already did! She's riding a big with a paint job meant to attract attention and giving interviews and her supporters are STILL saying she wants her privacy? Yeah, her and Snooki!!

1. if you guarantee that Sarah will run, then Mr. Obama will not need $1B.
2. How much would any politician need to beat the GOP candidate, Exon, BP, Chase, Goldman, Melon Bank, Russia and all the other entities who will be funding the next election? (You see, with the SCOTUS approval for corporations to fund elections, ANY CORPORATION can contribute as much as they want. This apparently includes foreign companies as well. Since the GOP is so committed to "supporting a friendly business environment" who do you think they will support?)
I cant believe that no one even sees what is going on. The Republicans are enacting a pretty intelligent strategy and the way I see it Dems and the liberal media are falling hook, line, and sinker.
So if you were faced with a media that wants nothing more than to tear down every opponent that you put forward, and will spend billions of dollars to do so and an incumbent president who will raise a billion himself how do you get through all that publicity and scrutiny. How does the public even get to the truth if there are 10 commercials for every one you put out? Like we saw in NY 26. So if Republicans put out every possible candidate we have, and Dems keep going after every one that comes out eventually that money will dwindle. That is why you see the Gov. of Texas say he might run, Palin, Gingrich, Trump, Giuliani. You have all these names coming out that Dems LOVE to hate and the funny part is that Republicans know that there are only 3-4 possible candidates. Romney, Cain, Pawlenty, with Bachman with an outside chance. What this goes to show is that no matter who the Republicans put forward the Dems will just hate and not even give a person a chance to speak, and spending like crazy to do so. By the time the REAL front runner comes out people will be sick of hearing how horrible ANYONE with a R in front of their name is the public will at least give them a shot to get their views across. You already see and hear the media going off "its pretty late in the game", "when will they have their front runner", "when are you going to announce", and most Republicans instead of saying no are just saying "wait and see", "not sure yet".
I just think its funny that the media just cant wait to tear down the Republican Candidate.

It's when one makes reference to items like "Where's his birth certificate?", or "He shouldn't be lecturing our children." that it calls into question the motivations of the speaker. John McCain was born outside this country, yet no-one brings that up. While it's true fewer and fewer people are calling the president the N word, and the pictures of him in blackface are getting fewer and fewer, there is still the undercurrent. Everyone wants to be coy, yet there are fewer mainstream blacks who could be in the job of POTUS. Mr. Obama is educated ("Was he smart enough to get into an Ivy League School?"), articulate ("Oh, he just uses teleprompters."), rich ("someone else ghost wrote his books."), half white (Are you sure?"), married (His wife is too uppity."), and prefers to reason through his options ("He's too slow to take a stance on Libya/Egypt/Osama's pictures.") . It truly seems he can do no right and pulling the world back from the brink of depression, reinvigorating the US auto industry, starting a REAL debate and ACTION on health care (WHAT was the GOP postion before he was elected?), turning around the job loss picture (WHAT; he hasn't restored in two years what it took 8 years to drive off the cliff.?!!!) all get short shrift from all the GOP members with the loudest voices. And the truly crazy ones call him a socialist, white hater, secret Moslem and dog kicker. (OK. Not the dog kicker part)

Is there anyone else that is still waiting for Sarah to answer a question from any other media outlet save Faux News? I am not happy with some of the things he has done such as: screwing the original GM bond holders by refusing to pay a legal obligation. Many people lost their life savings. It is wrong and immoral to have done that.
Since Obamacare has been enacted my premiums have gone from $1423.00/month to $1,934.00/month. Per month. I see this as a failure as I struggle to make ends meet.
The job situation hasn't gotten better. It is very bleak out there, go ask recent college graduates who cannot find jobs.
Personally, I never cared about his birth certificate. I wouldn't care if he was from Mars, if he could steer our country in the right direction. And as far as I'm concerned, I don't look at him as a black president. I look at him as my president. The same way I don't look at Derek Jeter as the black shortstop of the NY Yankees. I look at him as the best shortstop the NY Yankees ever had.The same way I don't look at Mariah Carey as a black singer from Long Island. I think of her as a great singer from Long Island. If I complain about the POTUS, its because of some of his policies. And thats pretty funny about Sharpton being president. Got a good laugh out of that one.

As for the issues you raise, specifically healthcare, two points.
1. The bulk of the health care plan has not gone into effect. The increases in premiums is BAU, brought to you by your profit focused insurance company.
2. I don't know about you, but my premiums have been rising faster than inflation for the past decade, way before the new health care plan was proposed. Whether the new plan will work or not remains to be seen, but it is head and shoulders over what the GOP had proposed during the Bush Administration.
Regarding the GM issue. That was not a good outcome for the bond holders, however when I compare it to who got hosed and who walked away with billions from Lehman Brothers, Countrywide, Worldcom, Enron, the 700 banks in the Savings and Loan crisis and Tyco (shower curtain, anyone?), I have to ask:
A. is a black person being held to a different standard?
B. who could have done better (Mr. McCain)?
C. what would they have done?
It reminds me of the phrase, "It's difficult to remember your assignment was to drain the swamp when you're up to your butt in alligators! As I recall, all of Detroit was on the brink. Could the outcome have been better? You bet. Can I live with what it was, given the recovery of the rest of GM, Chrysler, and the hundreds of companies who depend on those automakers? Sure.
Finally, as a minority, I am constantly aware of race. I can't afford not to be. A significant number of challenges, slights and efforts to shortcut me for someone else's benefit have been encounter during my lifetime. As a Partner in a major company i enjoy the benefits as much as my peers, but i am always testing any input, questions, comments and other interactions with the world at large, based on past experiences. The overwhelming majority of them are harmless, but occasionally, buried in the flotsam and jetsam of life is a turd of racism. I consider myself fortunate. I also recognize that my own racism can color my perception of an innocent comment and have to guard against it. I constantly test myself with the challenge of "If the comment about (name your choice here) was made by a member of my group, what would my response be?"). Unlike yourself, i need to be on guard against racism directed toward me as well as the inadvertent bias which I am capable of injecting into a situation if I am not careful. I actually believe most people in this country is falls into this trap, but it takes a significant effort to ferret those habits out and thwart them. I find European people less biased, or at least more aware (and up front) with their bias toward me and my family. Curiously , their bias seems to step from the perspective of "Well if your own countrymen can treat you as an underclass, then certainly I can do the same.", but again the number of incidents is much, much lower there. in China, I find it to be another story altogether.

I'm with you, builder, although I'm not a conservative Republican. I've voted Democratic for every presidential election since I reached voting age, which includes 10 presidential elections. Obama cured me of that in 2008, when I had to vote Republican. I couldn't vote for someone with no qualifications whatsoever to govern this nation. That being said, if Palin runs for the Republicans in 2012, I'll be forced to vote for Obama.

Yeah, McCain thinks she could be President Obama - but remember, he thought HE could beat Candidate Obama, so consider the source. I would guess he "owes" her in some way for dragging her into the race as his V. P. candidate last go-round. When he did, I actually felt sorry for her at first, because I knew that she and her family would get skewered by the press. Then, after they lost the election, she realized she could resign as governor and make a fortune writing books, making speeches, running for office without really running, etc. It's for those reasons that I don't think she'll run this time. She'd have to give up too much income in the private sector for the relatively measly salary of POTUS (if she won.)
Who does represent the Republican party? Who is there for more moderate voters? The Republican party isn't offering much at all for those of us in the middle.

I think you could make a better case that she is completely in line with your party which, ever since President Obama took office, has made "making Obama a one-term president," their only real party platform. In serving that goal they have opposed those principles and legislation that they formerly supported and criticized Obama for those things that they themselves have done.
If saying screwy things disqualifies one from seeking the highest office you do not have a candidate among those who have declared their candidacy or who are currently being discussed as potential candidates. Two of the screwiest .... Trump with his birther rants and Huckabee with his goofy comments about Obama following some Mau Mau political beliefs ..... have already dropped out of the race. But before they dropped out they topped the Republican voter polls. Palin continues to have strong support despite the fact that she has no declared solutions or principles -- only criticisms that are based on a junior high school level grasp of history and world affairs. In the words of the McCain-Palin campaign manager (and quoted in the best seller "Game Change"), "she doesn't know anything." Palin deserves to be part of the political conversation in this country like someone who drops a turd in a punch bowl should be considered the "life of the party."
And being self-centered is, in my opinion, at the core of Republican politics, especially since they began pandering to the tea party activists. Republican politics is all about "I've got mine and I ain't going to share." It's not, "we're all in this together" ... it's "everyone for themselves and if you can't make it, too bad." If those are insufficient, then address the need to raise our premiums; don't get rid of the two most popular programs. A simple way to "save" SS would be to means test benefits, while also getting rid of the "FICA cap" (that limits the taxing of the wealthy at $106,800--I think that number is right).
Secondly, and more importantly, NOBODY has asked Ryan or the Repubs where the $10,000 they'll give away to the insurance companies for each and every senior, each and every year, comes from? Think about it, your SS payments are $12,000 to $20,000 a year (I'm guessing on the $, I'm not old enough to get mine yet), and that is after a lifetime of paying SS premiums. Where the fudge does Ryan come up with the $10,000 per person per year?
I have noticed the knowledge of Stewart/Colbert viewers. They rank right up there with SNL viewers in that many of them don't know the difference between fiction and reality.
And to go further with the Ryan plan, it would be on a sliding scale with wealthier elderly assuming more of the cost.
First, Medicare and Social Security are rapidly going into deficit spending which means they will be taking in less than they receive. Raising the tax will delay the inevitable but will not cure the problem. The really big problem as it stands now is that the Treasury holds so much debt in the two trust funds that they will never be able to pay it unless the government does something about the deficit spending that already exists. Anybody that says the trust funds are adequately funded for future generations is dreaming. Anybody that suggests raising taxes alone will cure the problem is fooling themselves.
I showed you a scientific study that ranked Stewart/Colbert as more informative than Faux News, and that's your comeback? hmmmm.
Uh yeah, actually it does help. Why is SS going into the red? Because the Baby Boom generation is retiring. 20 years or so down stream, they'll have died off (sorry for sounding so crass) and once again we'll be in the black. Seriously, why do we have to radically alter our society to fix something NOW, NOW, NOW! when in fact we have time on our side?
As to the deficit, you want to target the social programs to cure everything--how about the gajillion $ gorilla in the room: the DoD? Notice that we PAY for SS via our FICA taxes, we pay for Medicare via specific tax, why not pass a 5% tax to pay for our wars that the Republicans never paid for? How about cutting a DoD budget that is about 3x larger than when we faced an existential threat from the Soviet Union (and no, terrorism is NOT an existential threat)? Yes, we have serious issues to deal with, but lets deal with all of them, not just scapegoating the two programs we actually have a dedicated revenue stream for.

October 29, 1929 - also known as Black Tuesday was when the stock market crashed that caused the Great Depression. At that time the unemployment rate was less than 5% in America, the unemployment rate continuously went up. By 1932, unemployment had reached 23.6%, and it peaked in early 1933 at 25%. So do you see that the unemployment rate lagged the stock market crash during the Great Depression, just as it did after crash of 2008. Therefore without the market crash there wouldn't have been skyrocketing unemployment and thus cannot be blamed on Obama. I can however by placed on both the Republicans and Democrats that allowed this mess to occur in the first place including President Bush who was the CIC during this time.
Can't compare this to 1929. The overall conditions were different. It wasn't Wall street that sent jobs out of the country. It was regulation, high tax rates, and treaties like Nafta. Plus we are now a global market, None of this was in effect in '29. Not an apples to apples comparison. Jobs started leaving the country right after Clinton signed Nafta, and the situation has been worsening ever since, yet, no Administration since will fix the problem either. Im with Ben...Im independent and could care less about Ms. Palin! In fact i dont even usually read anything about her. I certianly would not turn the channel to watch anything about her.
