I watched the entire nearly half-hour presser. I think he should be judged according to his job performance, and not according to his sexual peccadillos. In this video, he even says that his wife was aware of his webcam proclivities, and that he had the occasional dallilance. I think we do a terrible injustice when we presume that everyone operates under the same set of ethics. Hell, some people still do wife/husband swaps -- otherwise known as Swingers. This is character assassination by none other than Breitbart -- who has a rather dubious reputation as a hit journalist.

How does Weiner know that the people recieving these photos are of legal age or if they are even women. He could be posting pictures to 12 year old girls posing as adult women. This has been known to happen and has landed many people in jail. Sending lude photo's to unkown people over the internet is very poor judgement. This is the type of judgement that is running rampant in the law makers of today. This is the same judgement that leads people like Weiner to vote for an extension of the Patriot Act and say it isnt in violation of the Constitution.

The crime involves knowing the recipient is a minor. A minor who does everything to pretend they're an adult is not protected by law. At least no law that I know of.

Regardless of the situation, Politicians lying to the voting public is unacceptable in ANY circumstance. Any defense of those actions has no merit, especially when you start choosing one form of lying as acceptable over another. When a congressman says he was hacked the FBI should step in regardless of being asked. It is a question of national security, I hate hackers. It has been stated many times in the news that the FBI could of got to the bottom of it in 15 minutes. I know he wasn't hacked but our government needs to take allegations of hacking more seriously. I had two emails today, one was supposedly HSBC wanting to know my credit card info and the other a guy in London who has millions of dollars but no where to put it. Why can't we get these people. Mark - TVs usually come with a small usually black device called remote control that has several small small buttons on it...there are buttons with number and words such as + CH - ....and +VOL- etc.

The +CH- button is the one that can be used to change channels. Your TV and/or cable box usually comes with several channels of programming.

Most of the TV news channels are lined up together. For example on my TV fox is channel 507 , MSNBC is 506, ABC is 504 and so on ...

If you can locate the said remote control first make sure that it has fresh batteries in it and then aim it towards the TV and hit the +CH- buttons to change the channel to something other than FOX.

You will find that the media is rife with Weinergate coverage and even your so called main stream media is carrying the story to the hilt.

Get Over Yourself, there's a very big difference here you're forgetting.

All of the Republican politicians you mentioned got into power on campaigns that emphasized family values, moral superiority, and all the other things that frankly have nothing to do with the job of actually running the country. The Government has never required its members to apply to a moral code. So long as they don't break any laws, that's fine. The Republicans, however, base most of their credibility on touting family values and moral superiority. For many, that's all their campaign is based on. They don't discuss policy. They don't discuss long term strategy. And they certainly don't discuss how they plan to accomplish anything. They simply go on spouting tired old soundbites about upholding the moral center of the country, parading their family out in front of the cameras, and mentioning how often they pray.

And you know what the problem with that is? For a lot of them, it's a lie. It's a stage show put on to get people to vote for them. And once the truth comes out and their carefully constructed mask falls away, there's nothing left for them to fall back on. Their credibility is shot, and yes, most of them resign. Democrats occasionally stay in office even after these scandals because, believe it or not, most of them actually campaigned on the issues. What's more, none of the examples you mentioned were "forced out." They left of their own volition.

Weiner never made his marriage or his personal life a talking point when he got elected. The fact that he was indiscreet in that private life does not go to his credibility as a politican. Likewise, the fact that Bill Clinton cheated on his wife also doesn't do a thing to change the fact that he was still one of the most effective presidents we've had in a long time.

You think this is so shocking? Then be prepared for an even bigger shock: Most politicians are, in fact, rather unscrupulous people. The system requires a certain degree of maneuvering that most would call underhanded. The Republicans do it, the Democrats do it, the Green party does it. The Democrats, at least, don't pretend to have the moral high ground in all things. And they don't really have to, because by and large the people who vote for them don't care if they're not the best father or christian or neighbor. We care if they're a good politician. And guess what: Weiner is. So was Clinton. And they continue to be so. So I say, let them keep their jobs. They're doing better than most would in their position.

And if you really want to back up your argument that the "liberal media" is somehow conspiring against the GOP, then I'd suggest you actually give us an example where deliberate misinformation was used. Because there are plenty of examples of Fox News and their related pundits doctoring facts and espousing provably false history to try to discredit the Democrats. Here's a short list:

1. Repeatedly listing disgraced Republican representatives as Democrats.

Hey GetOverYourself, the difference between the liberals doing stupid things like this (Clinton, Weiner) is that they do not run around calling themselves moral leaders. Edwards would be an exception, but his wrong doings were discovered after he was out of office. I would have expected him to resign had he been in office.

All of the recent Republican elected officials had declared themselves moral leaders. With the exception of Lee, I do not know if he was waving the moral torch around. But Ensign and Craig were both amoral a$$holes.

If Weiner had owned up to the incident when first questioned about it, then I think staying if office would be reasonable since it is a personal affair. Let the voters decide next election cycle.

Having attempted to lie about it is what was wrong. He has destroyed his creditability and can no longer be an effective representative for his district.

And if you really want to back up your argument that the "liberal media" is somehow conspiring against the GOP, then I'd suggest you actually give us an example where deliberate misinformation was used. Because there are plenty of examples of Fox News and their related pundits doctoring facts and espousing provably false history to try to discredit the Democrats. Here's a short list:

1. Repeatedly listing disgraced Republican representatives as Democrats.

2. Bill O'Reilly attributing a Nazi massacre of US POW's to our troops in order to try to back up his argument in support of war crimes with a historical precedent.

You are either very greatly misinformed or just lying. There have been numerous polls - OF MEDIA - that show they are self-described as liberals. It usually comes out about 3-5 times as many liberals as conservatives for major broadcast and newsprint "journalists". You think we should check to see if they are lying about this? Do a little homework looking at Gallup Polling and Pew Center polling.

Fox News looks right to anyone on the left, because it is not leftist. At least Fox usually clearly identifies their opinion shows and seeks some balance between liberals and conservatives at their round table discussions. CNN considers a 5-1 ratio of liberals to conservatives to be about right for their round tables and MSNBC - oh, never mind!
