Perry is no nut, smart as a whip; a little to the right of Attila the Hun, a big Christan conservative , who does not have Romney care around his neck; he easily could be the fall back candidate, also, TEXAS ,SOUTH OF SAN ANTONIO, TO THE GULF; HAS JUST DISCOVERED THE LARGEST OIL RESERVE EVER FOUND IN THE WORLD, IT DRAFTS Saudi Arabia AND ALL THE MID-EAST GULF STATES COMBINED; EVERY OIL COMPANY IN THE WORLD IS RUSHING IN AT THIS TIME, THE BUILDING BOOM HAS ALREADY CREATED 20 THOUSAND NEW JOBS AND GROWING ,we have all the oil and gas in this country we will ever need for the next 200 years, all it took was oil to get high enough for the profits to be good enough.
Wow, I did not know that Perry was gay however, that alone should not disqualify him from running for President. It should be his policies that matter, not his sexual orientation.
Perry is an establishment candidate for certain. The big money will follow him and the media will push him hard as they tried to push Huntsman but failed.
If the ticket is Obama/Romney or Obama/Perry the Establishment will be happy as will Wall St. because either way, they win, which has been the case for the past several elections. If any of these win, America will continue to lose.
Perry, like Bush, and like Obama, are cronie politicians for the powers that be, not for the people.
I agree D1968 he is a clone of George W a ignorant Redneck who loves his booze and a typical hypocrite Bible Gripper that's the image he wants Americans to see, He is a self-centered individual that has only his interest at heart. Actually I think his name should be Prick Perry.
Texas is practically the only state with a growing economy. If Perry is a nut, then I am looking for that tree. I guess, if there is another Obama term, seceding may well be the best thing to do for successful states.
Secede, yes. Succeed,no. Texas burning as we speak is lowering the oxygen level making everyone dizzy. Either that,or rednecks are idiots. You,or y'all,be the judge.
The Great Texas Failure: A Smoke and Mirrors Economy
Wait - Texas? Wasn't Texas supposed to be thriving even as the rest of America suffered? Didn't its governor declare, during his re-election campaign, that "we have billions in surplus"? Yes, it was, and yes, he did. But reality has now intruded, in the form of a deficit expected to run as high as $25 billion over the next two years. http://texaskaos.com/diary/6860/grim-economic-news-for-texas
Additionally, Texas has by far the largest number of employees working at or below the federal minimum wage ($7.25 per hour in 2010) compared to any state, according to a BLS report. In 2010, about 550,000 Texans were working at or below minimum wage, or about 9.5 percent of all workers paid by the hour in the state. Texas tied with Mississippi for the greatest percentage of minimum wage workers…From 2007 to 2010, the number of minimum wage workers in Texas rose from 221,000 to 550,000, an increase of nearly 150 percent.
He'll get my vote if he wins the nomination. He should win it if he enters the race and Christie stays out. If Christie gets in all bets are off. If that were to happen I would finally have a pick between two good candidates for the nomination. Not a pick between the lesser of two evils.
obama = puppet for banking cartels
perry=puppet for banking cartels
america= dumber than dirt if they vote for either banking cartel puppet
hay, when the oligarchs who pull obamas puppet strings put rick perry in power in 2012, al quaida can be our enemy again and we can invade somalia, or another african country that did jack to the USA. if you are starting to realize obama gave the american republic away to the international banking cartels, just wait for Rick Perry to hand the whole thing over on a silver platter. do you like your savings accounts, your 401ks, pensions, well just like the entire american economy was siphoned off threw TARP and stimulus to the foreign banks, on record by the foreign bank that prints our money, the federal reserve, every thing you own will be giving over to the international banking oligarchy by Rick Perry. the biggest robbery in human history is not over yet folks, you still have property, pensions, savings, and dollars that are worth something, After QE3-4 and 5 the dollar will be worth less than toilet paper. toilet paper will be worth more because it has a larger surface area and using dollars will get your fingers "dirty". a wise man once said " if you play with a turd, you get @!$%# on your hands". well folks if we are dumb enough to vote for obama or rick perry, we will wind up with nothing but @!$%# on our hands. You know what I am saying is true. Ron Paul 2012.
Once again, someone who feels the right way to respond when your views don't line up with the nation's is to make your own little country, trying for national office.

The Senator from Wisconsin cannot frighten me by exclaiming, “My country, right or wrong.” In one sense I say so too. My country; and my country is the great American Republic. My country, right or wrong; if right, to be kept right; and if wrong, to be set right.

Texas has done well, aside from Perry, because we are a business friendly state, and companies have left CA and other non-friendly states in droves. Texas is really the best place to be if you don't want to leave the US completely.
Also, TX debt has increased because in part, TX revnue is SALES TAX based and even in Texas things have slowed down from what they were, and from what the TX government had to spend even 4 years ago.
That being said, Texas has weathered the recession better than any other state, and in many metro areas of Texas, people have NO IDEA the pains the rest of the nation is going through.
Now as for your stats on Texas most this or worst that... Texas is the 2nd largest state and as such will have more pollution and more poor people and for that matter, more rich people than the other 49 states.
No doubt CA has been harder on environment issues but at what cost? CA economy is a mess and there are large cities in CA that are approaching 3rd world status in crime and lack of jobs. By the votes of those who have left CA for TX in the past 5 years, in a massive migration looking for work, it is clear what people prefer.
Texas is not perfect, no state is... but it is far better off than most every other state in terms of jobs and cost of living.
Now does any of the good stuff have to do with Perry, very little. Perry is a cronie politician who tried to take 500,000 acres from ranchers to build a globalist super highway and let those profits go to a Spanish company.
Perry is not constitutional conservative and will sell out his mother for the right price.
If you want a nation where illegals are allowed to continue to drive down salaries, and big business keeps hiring them without penalties, then Perry is your man. He's allowed 5 million illegals to populate Texas and steal jobs, all without them or their employers paying medicare or social security taxes. And we wonder why our tax revenues are low and Texas has a multi-billion dollar deficit and budget short-falls. He's gone after the teachers, policemen, and firemen's unions. He's outsource billions of dollars worth of business to foreign companies to build unneeded toll-roads to criss-cross Texas. He's allowed foreign companies to come in and buy our water supplies. As Lt. Gov, he showed how much he feels above the law by telling a Texas State Trooper to "Get on down the road." when he was pulled over for speeding.
Just imagine what he'll do to our country on a large scale.
Texas has done well, aside from Perry, because we are a business friendly state, and companies have left CA and other non-friendly states in droves. Texas is really the best place to be if you don't want to leave the US completely.
no Texas has not done well... it has become a right to work state.
as one viner put it ?
I can personally vouch for the fact that "Right to Work" is a misnomer for "Right to Indentured Servitude of the Employee by the Employer"
You really have to give credit to the Republican party and even more credit to the tea party. They have correctly figured out that more than half of the country's voters are total $hit-kickin' morons and have focused almost exclusively on communicating directly with them and addressing their issues, such as: keeping black people out of the white house, praying for divine intervention concerning the climate change that they claim doesn't exist, keeping those dirty Mexicans from causing all of our good jobs to be outsourced and preventing homosexuals from running wild in the streets turning our precious children gay...
There are 14 million more people unemployed since Obama took office that would love to have your so called "Right to Indentured Servitude of the Employee by the Employer" rather than collect government cheese and food stamps. Good luck with that entitlement mentality, RIP!
Your ignorance is astounding! In the face of record profits for corporate America, companies continue to lay off workers and outsource jobs. I guess it's Obama who's firing all those folks and sending their jobs to India and China...
Astounding! Truly! You are a puppet of a slave and don't even know that you are the one that is enabling your own enslavement.
What's next? Putting on a tin foil hat to keep the socialist mind control messages out?
LOL I have worked for myself for the last 15 years. I wouldn't hire anyone with your entitlement mentality....EVER!!!! You are poison. BTW how is that Hope and Change working for you? Good luck with that and enjoy your Obamanomics Cheese.
Hey...I'm not eating the cheese either...I'm just saying place the blame where it belongs.
If more people would exercise CRITICAL THINKING instead just repeating radio personality talking points, we might actually solve some real issues..and not be distracted by the invented issues...
Maybe I am poision to you...but you're f#%ked because there's no cure for stupidity...
When Perry becomes President, the United States will no longer need money from taxes for Interstate Highways because he will sell the Interstate System to foreign investors that charge $0.75 per mile to use the roads (unless everyone stopped using the highways, then the government guarantee of minimum revenue kicks in and we pay the foreign investors, anyway).
Ripley - look again - "right to work" states are the ones with the best unemployment. Businesses have to locate where they can best compete. If you make the environment difficult enought they locate overseas.
You are supposed to learn from failure - i.e. loss of jobs - that the ideal you cling to wrong and turn from it, or at least adjust so that it does not cause a BIGGER PROBLEM than it SOLVES - or at least the ideal is supposed to solve.
Right to Work is directly responsible for the stagnation of wages and lose of benefits that has been taking place since States have been inacting it. These same States defund education (to give tax incentives to industry for relocating) and have a lower rate of home ownership among working class citizens.
There are 14 million more people unemployed since Obama took office that would love to have your so called "Right to Indentured Servitude of the Employee by the Employer" rather than collect government cheese and food stamps. Good luck with that entitlement mentality, RIP!
now for logic.
The problem is "Missing Jobs," not "Lost Jobs."
(mind you this is only confronting the Bush failure administration until 04 - it didn't get any better in the second term )
Since January 2001, the economy should have added 7.9 million jobs according to the President's Council of Economic advisors. The prediction line shows what they believed in November 2001, when they thought Bush's tax cut policies would create enough jobs to put the job market back on track before the 2004 election.
The graph below, puts the top graph in more historical context to show that the economy adds jobs rapidly in normal times. As of April 2005 only 0.8 million had been added in 4.25 years (since Bush took office), while in the previous 20 years, which included the Reagan and Bush I recessions, and average of 2.1 million were added per year.
Annual employment-growth rates for all 11 postwar presidents are listed below: Total employment 1. Lyndon Johnson (1963-69), 3.74% 2. Jimmy Carter (1977-81), 3.11% 3. Bill Clinton (1993-2001), 2.42% 4. Harry Truman (1945-53), 2.38% 5. Richard Nixon (1969-74), 2.30% 6. John Kennedy (1961-63), 2.28% 7. Ronald Reagan (1981-89), 2.04% 8. Gerald Ford (1974-77), 0.95% 9. Dwight Eisenhower (1953-61), 0.87% 10. George H.W. Bush (1989-93), 0.59% 11. George W. Bush (2001-09), 0.28%
that means Obama inherited not only the economic crap but a sliding unemployment that Bush couldn't and didn't meet. swallow hard cons. alot of this pie is your doing.
Bill White? The only way that guy can tell his head from his ass is that Perry handed him his ass in the last election. Get used to living on unemployment because Texas is stealing your jobs.
"The Bush administration created about three million jobs (net) over its eight years, a fraction of the 23 million jobs created under President Bill Clinton’s administration and only slightly better than President George H.W. Bush did in his four years in office."
What- The economic crash began in 2005 and became obvious by 2007. The economy lost over 4 million jobs before Obama every set foot in the Oval Office and another 4 million in Obama's first year (which have been attributed to "Bush's recession", not to Obama.
and cathee .. that doesn't address the jobs needed to be created to keep up with population. Which Bush and the con congress failed at.
tax cuts factually do not create jobs.
9 Things The Rich Don't Want You To Know About Taxes
1. Poor Americans do pay taxes. 2. The wealthiest Americans don't carry the burden. 3. In fact, the wealthy are paying less taxes. 5. And (surprise!) since Reagan, only the wealthy have gained significant income. 6. When it comes to corporations, the story is much the same—less taxes. 7. Some corporate tax breaks destroy jobs. 8. Republicans like taxes too. 9. Other countries do it better.
320 million americans -- 10% real UE, actually its much higher, = 32 million UE. say 1/3rd of those folks are under 18, so we are looking at around conservatively, 20.8 million UE, in america. anyone have a better guess, or actual facts? with the real UE it is more like 40 million UE.
Want to know how to get fired from your job in Texas? Tell your boss that you won't sleep with him and your a Democrat. Morals rule here in Texas!!!!!!!!
Eugene Robinson questioned whether Gov. Rick Perry had the perspicacity to run for President. I wonder (for us English majors) if perspicuity would have been a better choice of words. Let me know.
working #1.24,lol & awesome originality. They truly believe it I would also bet. One thing which I commonly point out is that these derelicts do not practice what they preach, not even close.
They live by their own unwritten 11th Commandment which states 'Thou shalt give Thee first 10 suggestions a try,and if Thou shalt disagree with them, write new Ones as Thou sees fit.'
They live life any way they want to,then simply throw around Jesus' name on their deathbed like a reference on their resume. You get 1 marriage. There are no do-overs,free samples,or whatever you want to call it. No affairs while you are married either.
Perry, "Demanded to see our Presidents Birth Certificate! Remember? The American People would like proof, that he has no "Family" ties to the Klan??? Show us Proof,Sir???? ( I sure hope Faux News is,nt "Hacking our Blogs) Scarry???
Welcome to the field Mr. Perry! and Thank God the Republican Party has been blessed with an abundance of highly qualified, competent, trustworthy candidates, anyone of whom We would not have to worry about He/She wanting to fundamentally change our demonstrably great system of government into some leftest/socialist/ radicals wet dream of a totalitarian/ dictatorial centralized governmental state that has never worked anywhere it has been tried, by stealthily installing, unelected, unaccountable, radical "czars" with unlimited and uncontrolled powers to accomplish the aims they could never achieve through free and fair elections. We would not have to worry about them negating legally binding contracts, firing civilian CEO's, and installing whoever they wanted , then handing the businesses over to union thugs. It would not even cross our minds that any of them would insult or betray any of our allies. We would not have to worry about a "Justice" Department that would condone thousands of high powered weapons being smuggled into neighboring countries and given to anti-government elements there in order to destabilize those nations and then engage in a cover-up of those operations. We would not have to see the spectacle of any of these candidates leading their party in an orgy of pillaging of the treasury in the middle of the night to give the spoils to their comrades with no accountability what so ever and then further have to worry that this explosion of our debt to more debt, than all the previous Presidential administrations combined was part of an insidious plot espoused by those on the left, (the Cloward and Piven strategy), to collapse Our economic system , to be replaced with a socialist one more to their liking. We would not have to suffer the humiliation of being stuck on the ground as the Russians, Chinese, Japanese ,Indians and French take the lead and forge ahead of us in the development of space and new technologies while We are fiddling with windmills and glorified golf carts, while being forced to beg rides from the Russians just to get into space and then have to worry about what We would do if they ever simply said, no. Yes, right now none of the Republican candidates have broken from the pack, that is due to the quality of the field, and it has made some of the leftest crow about the "weakness" of the field and how Republican fund raising is lagging behind, not to worry, there are patriotic Republican Capitalist with trillions of dollars in assets,(not to mention the regular voters), just waiting for the smoke to clear and for one of these outstanding leaders to emerge from the pack before committing to any one, but as for me, I could go into a voting booth blind folded , right now, and pull a lever for any one of them, and go home and sleep peacefully knowing that the country will once again be in the good hands of someone who believes in it and its people.God Save and Bless The United States Of America.
#1.12- You have a good point but that point is based on the premise the majority of latino voters will vote republican just because a hispanic in on the ticket. McCain tried that trick with Palin to secure up the female vote and we all know how that turned out. To assume latinos will blindly vote republican just because a latino may be on the ticket truly is an insult to latino voters. They are concerned about out nations issue just as we all are and take their vote as seriously as you do. If your premise about latinos voting republican just because Rubio may be on the ticket, then President Obama should not have any opposition in the African American community and we both know he has...
texas has more people on food stamps than any other state in the country.
pretty sure he took more federal stimulus money than any other governor, as well. (too lazy to check. just going by memory. could be wrong. but its unlikely. :p)
perry is a welfare queen.
however, i do expect him to pick up all of the christian fundamentalist vote. since bachmann is a woman. (hard to believe she thinks a woman could win the republican nomination... but not that hard. she's not that bright, really.)
Just a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitle bit off, Washington D.C. tops the list for food stamp recipients with Texas not even in the top fifty percent, as far as stimulus funds New York gets the most per capita along with Illinois being right up there,(my, what a surprise),Texas was actually one of the least with $1,564 per capita,(Utah was the least at $ 1,389 per capita), The highest unemployment rates? Those Socialist workers paradises of Nevada, Home of Harry Reid at 12.4% and California, Home of Nancy Pelosi, at 11.8%, but if You must find a statistic of something for Texas, try job creation, led the nation with 253,600.
That's exactly what the voters in TX said when Bush ran for Governor against Ann Richards and beat her soundly ... that's exactly what you said the last two time Bush ran for POTUS. Your vocal anti-Texan bias only serves to make the rest of us look twice at Perry. Thank you.
Perry cannot win POTUS because he has alienated most of the nation - i.e. women, gays, non-right wing nut christians (there are millions of christians who do no believe in forcing their religion on everyone else), muslims, latinos, african-americans, and last but not least - "normal" people. His views are too far to the right for most of the right.
As for oil reserves in the gulf, yes, there has also been reserves found in other states, i.e. North Dakota, to name one. The plan has always been to use up the oil in the mideast and then the U.S. would be the "go to" country to supply oil worldwide.
Dallas is now the financial capital of the United States, Houston is the oil capital of the world, Texas has more oil and Natural gas than all of the Mideast, largest cattle farms in the United States; why do you think that over the last 48 years 20 of those we had a Texas president; Houston medical complex is the worlds largest, the worlds largest electronic companys have their western hemisphere headquarters in Plano ; do not call Texans rednecks, they may buy you and sell you into slavery.
NES - he only alienates the radical portions of women, gays, and non- christians. That amounts to 25 - 30% of the country. Hillary ran for President with 42 - 48% negatives.
BTW, Anyone with less than a negative 50% appeal IS Electable.
lib50: The people are often that stupid. To his credit, Perry has demonstrated ample stupidity in excess of conservative republican requirements to become a viable candidate.
Sure, he resonates with the liberal coolaid crown. America can't be that stupid to elect him. Ohhhhh, sorry, that was obama. Yup, we were that stupid. Amazing isn't it. But, we don't make the same mistake twice. Well, sometimes we do.
Perry/Rubio=2012 with Herman Cain as chief economic adviser.
Yes he has that Texas Swagger but when you look in the eyes there is that same dimly lit bulb look that Bush had. Thanks Texas, but we'll pass on this one.
The polls showing Perry ahead with Republicans also represents the extreme far right. I will have to disagree with you on regarding only the radical gays, women, etc. I suppose if you lived in Texas most Americans would seem radical. It's like we say in the West, "there is the US and Texas".
Like John Kerry who moved his boat to Rhode Island, I think, to avoid taxes? Bush wasn't the greatest president, but he is far and away better than the marxist wannabe in the White House presently.
Al, I think a lot of americans agree with your and my assessments of the totally inept Obama regime. Unless Obama's goal is to destroy any vestige of an economy, he is the dumbest president ever. He is doing a great job of destroying the economy, either way, dumb or wise..
Bush Sr. moved to Midland because he wanted to be in the oil business, and he was very successful. If you want to be an actor, you move to Hollywood or New york, if you want to be in the oil business, you move to Texas.
And Mr. Obama would like to run our country into bankruptcy. Who cares what G W Bush did 25 years ago. Many, many people have lost businesses to bankruptcy. Ask all of the businesses that the current demonrat government is driving into the ground with all of their ridiculous regulations and taxes. It must be great to try and do business in the US since we have the 2nd highest corporate tax rate in the world. I guess cutting the funding to the "Cowboy Poetry Festival" is just a little to much to cut! Too funny!
Hopin' for Change in 2012! Perry/Rubio all the way!
Sorry, but it does matter. W never should have run in the first place with that kind of success--or, lack of. Do you go to a car mechanic who repeated does bad work? Of course you don't, right?

Apr 17, 2009 – Rick Perry on Thursday stuck by his earlier statement that Texas can secedefrom the United States — a far-reaching, legally questionable ..
I think it is funny that people get lampooned for supporting secession and yet, this very country and others around the world just supported the secession of South Sudan form the rest of Sudan. A bit hypocritical to say all people around the world have a right to self determination...unless you happen to be a citizen of the United States, then your rights don't matter.
Im not sure if youd be better or worse off, now if you moved inland just a bit and seceded I think it would work. You need to be rid of the Hollywierd liberals.
Most states can legally secede from the Union however, Rick Perry also said he didn't think that was a good idea at this point. BTW, he didn't make the comment he was answering a question when that came up, so all of you saying Rick Perry wants to secede obviously know little about him.It would be an interesting experiment to split the country into a liberal country and a conservative country and see which side succeeded. You liberals can keep California, New York, and well most of the east and west coasts and we conservatives will keep the south and most of the mid section. Guarantee, the liberals states would be broke in 10 years and the conservatives would thrive.

Jul 9, 2011 – #5 Rick Perry claims that he has a “track record” of not raising taxes. That is a false claim. Rick Perry has repeatedly raised taxes and ...
And, the toll roads have "user fees", right? (That was a term coined by Reagan for those services that the government used to provide for free--as a benefit from one's taxes.)
You want to explain your comment or are you only re-typing buzz words to the appropriate blogs that were emailed to you this morning by the liberal propaganda bosses that you follow like a sheep?
All I can say is thank God the Tea Party has started to own the GOP. Although I will never call myself a Republican if they continue to influence the party I won't have to hold my nose when I vote for one. E.g. John McCain.
We do not recieve any messages from propaganda bosses...if we did you repugnicrite low thinking sheeple would not stand a chance. Everyone knows you have all received instructions to call us everything that you are like non thinking kids on a playground and just as the same, you obey.
Perry is just playing the Palin-card... If he was going to run, he would have already been in the race - that it's taking this long to somehow figure it out just tells me that he has too much baggage to try and hide...
He probably does have a lot of baggage and you speak exactly to what I've said in private circles, but his baggage can't be worse than the record Obama has to run on and frankly he has a lot of positives to run on, as well. But I don't see him running. No self-respecting person wants to assume ownership and leadership of all this $hit that we're left with now. It's a no-win situation from this point ... exactly where Obama wanted it.
I said the same thing about Obama during the 2008 elections - I voted for him and wanted him to win... but I didn't want to republicans to get off the hook for the mess they created.
And unfortunately for President Obama - the Republicans have an extremely short memory... but fortunately, the American people have a long memory - and they know exactly who got us in this mess, Republicans and the Rich...
All the people who dont live in Texas, are your lives better or worse since Obama took office? Aside from blaming Bush, what has this guy done to make your lives better, is unemployment any better, are we out of the wars, is Gitmo still open, what exactly has he done that he said he was going to do? Oh, he rammed Obamacare down our throats and now noboby will hire because they dont know how much Obamacare is going to cost them. The man is a socialist and admitted as much in his book, he just forgot to mention it during his campaign because he knew people would not vote for him if they knew who he really was.
@Bobby G-#9: Perry is not playing the Palin card. He has that christian stadium thing this weekend. And the stadium thing is Perry's deal. Unfortunately, many of the "big christian" speakers are over the edge on many things. One of them claims the Statue Of Liberty is a Free Mason-communist plot to bring "liberal hedonism" (whatever that is) onto American shores. There are many others with weirdness being their patron saints.
I think Perry, if he's considering running, is searching for a way to get through this event without too much sticking to him. Running on a national scale is much different than rubbing shoulders with a bunch of automons.
Perry= "Possible Anti-Christ" Above his "Evangelical Extremism Rhetoric" he has cut Education so Drastically, Their parents now have to come up with 375.00 a year for "Riding the Bus to School" 2nd child 270.00 a year??? Real Leadership, Texas??? LOL
Yeah Denise: Don't forget that Lucifer is very skilled in using "Jesus Loves You," against the weak and insipid. And, they fall for it every single time. Every single time.

Jul 8, 2011 – But that's the learned assessment of Texas Governor Rick Perry. ... Perry'strack record has been appalling, but that hasn't restrained him ...
I live in Texas and they have been firing teachers and underfunding education for years. I guess if your constituents are dumb they are easy to manipulate. Oh yeah, he wants us to pray for rain. Maybe we can pray for jobs too. He does have some fabulous hair.
How can Texas totally fund the education system, since Texas has to educate millions of illegal immigrant Mexican children/parents? Admit it libs, Perry scares the hell out of you.
I admit it. Preacher Perry scares the hell out of me as he should you. Its all the big show under the big tent with "I feel a healin' comin' on" as a platform. This guy scares me that he's even being talked about. Combine him with Christie and you've got a one two punch of the God Driven Bully boys. I'll predict right now that if Preacher Perry were to somehow win his party's nomination, that this will go down as the largest landslide victory for the Democratic Party in history.
Sophie, your name means "wisdom;" what a wonderful name. As a fellow teacher, you and I know that the bureaucracy in academia has crushed the spirit of many teachers, and that much of the monies spent on education goes to provide more administration and capital expenditures, and has no direct benefit to students or teachers. It's time to reform the educational system: no more tenure, no more teacher unions, no more frivolous lawsuits from parents and students; downsizing in budgets. Let's focus on educating our youth, their sake and the sake of the country. And yes, let's bring God back into the classroom.
The state of Texas Governorship does not require any talent....Remember GW was once one of the weak leaders who served as Governor of Texas......I just can't see a President that does not know the difference between religion and politics...Imagine waking up every morning and a "Big Brother Evangelical President" telling you that you should pray and be thankful for what you have as you are scrubbing the toilets of the rich......Be afraid.
I retired from the Texas Educational system. It was rather well thought of as excellent, until Bush and Perry's administration, when they raped the system for their own gain....Sorry .....Be afraid. He claims to be holy, but I know he is the devil. Rather an Overly Dramatic Evangelical Showman. As you say put up the big tent.
As a native Texan I can attest to what Gov. "Good-Hair" Perry has done for Texas:
Perry helped move Texas to the bottom of the rankings in education; health care for the most vulnerable; social services; workers' salaries, benefits, compensation, and safety; etc. He and his fellow theocrats have brought the teaching of creationism and the Bible into public schools all the while gutting the education budget so much that teachers are being laid off. He and his fellow theocrats are doing their utmost to take away women's reproductive rights.
Even though Perry has made noises about Texas seceding from the Union, he complained loudly when the federal government didn't give him the federal money he demanded....
The last thing America needs is another "good ole boy" in the White House....
Apparently, this is what the Texo-Christo-Whackos want. And after the texas school board gets done installing its curriculum for morons, god knows what they'll want. Jeez, even the Bush fambly is against him. Best for all concerned would be to give Texas, and STexan, to Mexico. Then their illegals, whom they blame for all Texas's miserable education, health care, and wage statistics, won't be illegal any more. And, being Texans, with the help of political meetings called prayer meetings, they can straighten Mexico right out.
Perry is the poster boy for the stupidity that has infected America. And this being the phenomenon (Bachmann # 2 ?????) driving the republickan primary poll results, he should do well.
"Take a drive thru Texas, and see those "Confederate Flags Flying High" They say down their, "The South will Rise Again" To what, Slavery???? Beware "Americans" BEWARE!
This is exactly what I'm hearing from friends and family that are in Texas. And my family are true dyed-in-the-wool Republicans. They are urging all of us not to throw our vote or support in any way shape or form to Perry's camp.
I have heard it stated from my great aunt that the schools are so bad the only way to make sure your kid is educated is to home school and while that is a great option a lot of folks don't have the funds or time as well as the training to do this.
Rick Perry is just like Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Bush senior, "globalists!" Until America can elect someone that stands for its own people, we will continue to be dependent on other nations, Wall Street, the Federal Reserve, and the big corporations!
No, unfair, I disliked him before. Arrogant beyond measure. Everything as I said before "under the big tent, Praise Jesus" as a policy. What the Republicans belief is that Preacher Perry will "stand up" to the President. That he's a fighter. Well, I eagerly look forward to the debates.
We're not a perfect country but, compared to most, we've been pretty good. By and large we've been a responsible global citizen; helped other countries deal with disasters, made sacrifices for their freedom, and helped to improve their economies.
Which brings me to a question. Why does God hate the United States? Why does he keep telling people like Perry and Bachmann to run for president? The last guy who "heard" those marching orders really screwed us up. Should we assume that God is now sending another one to finish us off?
what funny about this is, they even have perry's vp picked out for him, rubio
you know....six months ago i would have told you perry does not have a snowballs chance....now it actually looks as if he has it won. its been a while since there has been this much buzz about a candidate so far away from the primary.
It's like the latest TV sitcom that's advertised as the "new hit TV show" before they run the first episode. Each new Republican/TP candidate gets the hype, they announce, the skeletons come out of their closets and their IQ is shown for what is really is, buyer's remorse sets in, then it's the next one's turn.
I'm from Texas and trust me you don't want this guy anywhere near the White House. In some ways he makes GW look brilliant. I think the country has had enough of what Texas can offer. He's won reelection with help from a split field. Kinky Freedman pulled enough votes to give Perry the election. Talk to people from Texas and you will find he's not all that popular.
...and all the "christian" extremist "pastors" he is including in this "day of prayer"? Honestly--Japan is in trouble because the emperor of Japan "consorted" with the demon sun goddess? Does Perry really think this will endear him to most of middle America?
Lorenzo, I am very ecstatic that you have finally come to your senses, we certainly DO need a conservative, texan or otherwise, to replace the marxist wannabe we now have in the White House. There, now, seems to be a glimmer of hope for other brain deprived liberals.
It is a sad day for Republicans. Mr. Perry has been a a terrible Govenor for Texas.
Please look at his record? He rewards his friends with appointments. He gives contracts to his benefactors. In his last run for Govenor he kept silent the fact that the State was $27 billion in the red. He would not debate his opponent in public. He hides his travel under the guise of "security for his detail". In the closing days of the 2007 Legislative session he was quietly given a $30 thousand dollar annual pay raise.
There is more. Please consider this, he may look sharp, some say like Reagan but judge carefully.
Is this the same guy that wants Texas to become it's own separate country? What a nut.
secede
Rick Perry is GAY GAY GAYYYYY!!!!
Is America ready for it's first Gay president?
Ron Paul 2012
Perry ? lmao. are people stupid ?
As for Texas ??
The Great Texas Failure: A Smoke and Mirrors Economy
Wait - Texas? Wasn't Texas supposed to be thriving even as the rest of America suffered? Didn't its governor declare, during his re-election campaign, that "we have billions in surplus"? Yes, it was, and yes, he did. But reality has now intruded, in the form of a deficit expected to run as high as $25 billion over the next two years.

He'll get my vote if he wins the nomination. He should win it if he enters the race and Christie stays out. If Christie gets in all bets are off. If that were to happen I would finally have a pick between two good candidates for the nomination. Not a pick between the lesser of two evils.
obama = puppet for banking cartels
perry=puppet for banking cartels
america= dumber than dirt if they vote for either banking cartel puppet
hay, when the oligarchs who pull obamas puppet strings put rick perry in power in 2012, al quaida can be our enemy again and we can invade somalia, or another african country that did jack to the USA. if you are starting to realize obama gave the american republic away to the international banking cartels, just wait for Rick Perry to hand the whole thing over on a silver platter. do you like your savings accounts, your 401ks, pensions, well just like the entire american economy was siphoned off threw TARP and stimulus to the foreign banks, on record by the foreign bank that prints our money, the federal reserve, every thing you own will be giving over to the international banking oligarchy by Rick Perry. the biggest robbery in human history is not over yet folks, you still have property, pensions, savings, and dollars that are worth something, After QE3-4 and 5 the dollar will be worth less than toilet paper. toilet paper will be worth more because it has a larger surface area and using dollars will get your fingers "dirty". a wise man once said " if you play with a turd, you get @!$%# on your hands". well folks if we are dumb enough to vote for obama or rick perry, we will wind up with nothing but @!$%# on our hands. You know what I am saying is true. Ron Paul 2012.
Finally, the GOP is on the right track. Now all they need to wrap up a win is to nominate Marco Rubio (yep, there goes the hispanic vote) for VP.
Working men and women of America unite!
Make these politicians and corporations stop shipping jobs overseas in the name of the almighty profit!
China is now the second largest economy and will surpass the U.S. in the next few years.

QUOTATION:
The Senator from Wisconsin cannot frighten me by exclaiming, “My country, right or wrong.” In one sense I say so too. My country; and my country is the great American Republic. My country, right or wrong; if right, to be kept right; and if wrong, to be set right.

Schurz expanded on this theme in a speech delivered at the Anti-Imperialistic Conference, Chicago, Illinois, October 17, 1899: “I confidently trust that the American people will prove themselves … too wise not to detect the false pride or the dangerous ambitions or the selfish schemes which so often hide themselves under that deceptive cry of mock patriotism: ‘Our country, right or wrong!’ They will not fail to recognize that our dignity, our free institutions and the peace and welfare of this and coming generations of Americans will be secure only as we cling to the watchword of true patriotism: ‘Our country—when right to be kept right; when wrong to be put right.’”—Schurz, “The Policy of Imperialism,” Speeches, Correspondence and Political Papers of Carl Schurz, vol. 6, pp. 119–20 (1913).
Some truth and some mis-facts in your post.
Just imagine what he'll do to our country on a large scale.
no Texas has not done well... it has become a right to work state.
as one viner put it ?
@What?
RUN PERRY RUN !!!
I can't wait to see this Bush-hand-me-down get handed his hat !!!!
@What...
And the lord said: Only the self righteous rich old white guys that destroy the innocent peoples lives will enter the kingdom of heaven.- GOP 20:12-
That's all we need is another a$$hole from Texas, Perry worships the rich.
Right to Work is just Republican code for Slave Wages. What would you expect from a southern state?
Right to Work is directly responsible for the stagnation of wages and lose of benefits that has been taking place since States have been inacting it. These same States defund education (to give tax incentives to industry for relocating) and have a lower rate of home ownership among working class citizens.
The great GOP job creators are putting Americans out of work.
Rick Perry's campaign slogan:
The new TEA/GOP
We don't work
So why should you??
now for logic.

4.5 Million jobs were lost under GW Bush.
3 million created under GW Bush. Do the math.
Comes out to a -1.5 million job growth under Bush's regime!

The Democrats pray for the people. The Republicans prey on the people. This couldn't be any more clear.

Thanks. I needed a good laugh. You really brightened my day. Hilarious!

Well gee wiz, Wiz!, I sure am glad I was able to brighten Your day! I only hope it was with enlightenment.
texas has more people on food stamps than any other state in the country.
pretty sure he took more federal stimulus money than any other governor, as well.
Flashypaws
Gag me.
An eloquent, and to the point statement of fact.
I believe that puts you at the top of the leader board for both brevity and accuracy for today! Well done!
That about sums it up!
Sure, he resonates with the wingnuts. He will not make it in the national election. The country can't be that stupid.
That's exactly what the voters in TX said when Bush ran for Governor against Ann Richards and beat her soundly ... that's exactly what you said the last two time Bush ran for POTUS. Your vocal anti-Texan bias only serves to make the rest of us look twice at Perry. Thank you.
yes, it can-- it elected Bush twice....
...the country was stupid enough to elect Prez-O...
....electing Perry would be like marrying up....
Sure America is that stupid. You only have to look at who is currently occupying the white house..........
Wait!!! I thought Mexico was taking y'all back!! Do the rest of us a huge favor!
Very well we will see how long your country lasts with over 25% of the refining capacity gone to Mexico.
The country can't be that stupid.
Sure they can, they elected Obama didnt they, now we will see if they learned from their mistake, or continue to be stupid.
lib50: The people are often that stupid.
When will Texas secede? Tomorrow? Already? Oh, Perry's wants to be king of the US of Corporations? Help?!
They elected ObaMao didnt they?
@saxon
Concerning your last line in post #3.8, good point, and yes, I believe they're working on that.
wizard; you have a good sense of wit and humor.
I'm "Hopin' for a Change" in 2012.

What voters? Trolls and goblins?
^5, R.
And, yes that is who they mean. You know, those that cannot be bothered with thinking for themselves.
GREAT!!!!!!!!!! Another Texan! We all know how the last one worked out!
To be fair George Bush was a Yankee... he was not from Texas but the north east.
I agree. Bush moved to Texas to avoid paying state taxes on his $millions.
Like John Kerry who moved his boat to Rhode Island, I think, to avoid taxes? Bush wasn't the greatest president, but he is far and away better than the marxist wannabe in the White House presently.
That I will agree with Bush wasn't the greatest but by far better than the current regime.
Al, I think a lot of americans agree with your and my assessments of the totally inept Obama regime. Unless Obama's goal is to destroy any vestige of an economy, he is the dumbest president ever. He is doing a great job of destroying the economy, either way, dumb or wise..
Marlen - you mean you wouldn't go to the least expensive place to live too?
Don't you buy the cheapest gas, If you shop Wal*mart all the time, buy the least expensive car that meets your need?
Bush's moved to Texas because you can't get a large Ranch that size in Maine. Geez!
Bush Sr. moved to Midland because he wanted to be in the oil business, and he was very successful. If you want to be an actor, you move to Hollywood or New york, if you want to be in the oil business, you move to Texas.
If I recall correctly, W drove 3 businesses to bankrupcy, right?

We got the same problem here in Southern California We would love secession from Sacramento lol.
The situation in Sudan isn't comparable to the situation that exists in Perry's mind.
Big Al

I say bring the job murderer on.
You want to explain your comment or are you only re-typing buzz words to the appropriate blogs that were emailed to you this morning by the liberal propaganda bosses that you follow like a sheep?
How much did the KOCK brothers pay you to post that?
Who are the "KOCK brothers"? Did they murder a bunch of jobs or something? ... you dumb-ass.
STexan-
Speaking of "follow like a sheep", that basically sums up the right wing of the TP owned GOP.
All I can say is thank God the Tea Party has started to own the GOP. Although I will never call myself a Republican if they continue to influence the party I won't have to hold my nose when I vote for one. E.g. John McCain.
STexan,
Your projection was flawless.
We do not recieve any messages from propaganda bosses...if we did you repugnicrite low thinking sheeple would not stand a chance. Everyone knows you have all received instructions to call us everything that you are like non thinking kids on a playground and just as the same, you obey.
It is fun to see you do it though...thanks much.
When Soros farts does it make Obamas ears flap?
roflamof
Perry is just playing the Palin-card... If he was going to run, he would have already been in the race - that it's taking this long to somehow figure it out just tells me that he has too much baggage to try and hide...
He probably does have a lot of baggage and you speak exactly to what I've said in private circles, but his baggage can't be worse than the record Obama has to run on and frankly he has a lot of positives to run on, as well. But I don't see him running. No self-respecting person wants to assume ownership and leadership of all this $hit that we're left with now. It's a no-win situation from this point ... exactly where Obama wanted it.
STexan-
In case you didn't notice, all this "$hit" we have today started accruing back under Reagan. It didn't happen overnight.
STexan,
I said the same thing about Obama during the 2008 elections - I voted for him and wanted him to win... but I didn't want to republicans to get off the hook for the mess they created.
Has he consulted an astrologer? Reagan did.
Every single time.
denice1:
It could be more economical for a group of parents to get together and buy a school bus.

Jul 8, 2011 – But that's the learned assessment of Texas Governor Rick Perry. ... Perry'strack record has been appalling, but that hasn't restrained him ...
LOL - now that is funny, like an objective, unbias report will be at a obvious liberal website called progressive.org...
Could just as well be objective as Pravda was in the cold war. LOL!
progressive, lol indeed. many of you posters are good for a laugh! Now that you play time is up, go to work.....
I live in Texas and they have been firing teachers and underfunding education for years. I guess if your constituents are dumb they are easy to manipulate. Oh yeah, he wants us to pray for rain. Maybe we can pray for jobs too. He does have some fabulous hair.
Yeah, his "fabulous hair" is just like Blagojevich's. Well, until they shave it in the federal penitentiary!
"raped the system for their own gain"? Sounds likw what you Union Thugs have been doing for decades
The last thing America needs is another "good ole boy" in the White House....
abby, have you paid your NEA dues yet? You are using their talking points.
Maybe he thinks he'll have more of a chance for Texas seceding if he runs for prez. what a nut. yeah a nut popular amongst nuts..
Rick Perry is just like Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Bush senior, "globalists!" Until America can elect someone that stands for its own people, we will continue to be dependent on other nations, Wall Street, the Federal Reserve, and the big corporations!
He's not even a GOP candidate yet and they already love him?
What a weak field!
Perry is not even a GOP candidate, and you already hate him? What a weak mind you have, rapt.
Dasvet-
I was actually referring to the rest of the GOP contenders if you bothered to read and think about my post.
Oh, that's right, you've been programmed to not think for yourself.
Just the latest in a long line of teapublican, nut case, hypocrites going nowhere. The big money boys are holding their cards until 2016.
I bet if Perry and Bachmann get together and pray very hard all of the Gay people will turn straight!
And toss rose petals in their path, the way the Iraqis did when Bushie, Dickie, RummieDummie and, of course, Halliburton, invaded them.
They may turn straight, but will they be wet? It's rain that's needed.
The GOP always gets excited about "The Next Candidate Waiting to Announce"....
It's after they become an "official candidate" that the lovefest begins to wane!
lol
what funny about this is, they even have perry's vp picked out for him, rubio
you know....six months ago i would have told you perry does not have a snowballs chance....now it actually looks as if he has it won. its been a while since there has been this much buzz about a candidate so far away from the primary.
i hope he runs, and i like rubio too....
Like at his prayer service coming upwhere he invites all races and faiths to "pray to Jesus for salvation"??
...and all the "christian" extremist "pastors" he is including in this "day of prayer"? Honestly--Japan is in trouble because the emperor of Japan "consorted" with the demon sun goddess? Does Perry really think this will endear him to most of middle America?
Great. That's all our country needs...another conservative Texan to ruin it for everyone but his rich cronies.
Lorenzo, I am very ecstatic that you have finally come to your senses, we certainly DO need a conservative, texan or otherwise, to replace the marxist wannabe we now have in the White House. There, now, seems to be a glimmer of hope for other brain deprived liberals.
Wow, another tolerant Texas christian, just what we need.
Add to this that Rick Perry was Al Gore's Texas state chairman in 1988. He seems to just say and do what will get him elected.
Maybe that is why Perry is a republican, cynic. Anyone connected with Al Gore, at any time, would do the same
Let's give Perry a great big welcome to the Parade of Idiots! He will fit right in with all the other Republican Idiots!
