I'd like to know what the "disapproval numbers" point to. What I see is a president who is doing everything he can't in the face of unbelievable conservative opposition. It's no surprise that nothing can get done in a gov't that is as divided as ours.
Anyone who thinks that Rick Perry or Mitt Romney could do a remarkably better job is deluded. In fact, someone like Perry or Bachman could conceivably completely run the country in the dirt.
I think this country is already "in the dirt"...some of which comes from this president "doing everything", very little of which is doing any good at all.
And I did notice your Freudian slip..."a president doing everything he CAN'T". Maybe that's the core of the problem, accurately phrased !!!
He is no leader. He is the definition of the Peter Principle. Right next to the definition of the Peter Principle there is a picture of President Obama. He has attained the highest level of incompetency. We can ill afford a leader who cannot lead. He is in love with the media and up until recently they with him, but if your own party is distancing themselves, (which shows very little honor and loyalty) you are in big trouble. Those same democrats that hung on to his coat tails are now abondoning the ship. Now, what does he do next, I can hear it already,"Blame Bush"And for all of you dems who blame Fox News, this was a story on MSNBC! However, I do not see any Reps that really stand out as the go to person either. We are in deep doo doo
Snow Jackson, that would be Former President Bush's picture. Yea I know both look a lot a like, but OBama got Bushs Disaster. It's going to take decades to get out of this. If a Republican was in office right now, America would be in the sewer... MASSIVE Depression beyond comprehension. They have NO clue how to run a country. NONE.
My opinion - the declining poll numbers for Obama suggest that the country wants to see him 'fight' for the economy and jobs. The country may have an opportunity to see that very shortly.
The schedule conflict with the GOP debate may look silly - but Obama just set the agenda for that debate - on his terms. The GOP candidates must go 'on record' with their plans for the economy before Obama presents his plan. It will be difficult for the GOP candidates to snipe from the sidelines while trying to defend their position. The GOP goes first in this political fight - which means they will be on the defensive from the beginning.
Tony I think that many of the convervatives who attack Obama on any and every issue have a "glass is half empty" attitude. I see the "glass as half full". Obama's two main problems are unemployment and the debt issue. Republicans and Tpartiers could be a hell of alot more reasonable when it comes to resolving these issues. I don't think that America has problems that are unsolvable. In the current political sceanario, I don't see anyone more competent than Pres. Obama in dealing with these issues. In spite of the endless foaming at the mouth rants about how Obama has driven our country to the brink of destruction, the reality is that Obama has gotten quite a bit done to further the objectives of the American people.
His (and Bush's to his credit) policies largely saved the banking system.
The bail outs of the auto industry worked well.
We're closed to getting out of Iraq and Afganistan.
We have a health care intitiative that will likely in the long run be very benificial to the American people.
The schedule conflict with the GOP debate may look silly - but Obama just set the agenda for that debate - on his terms.
WOW!! I've seen some pretty wild spin before, but this has to be somewhere near the top. On HIS terms? You've got to be kidding.
In case you missed it, the GOP candidates have already been talking about the economy and have already held debates. The fact that they are going to do it again (on the night they had already scheduled it for, long ago) does not somehow mean that they will suddenly be on the defensive.
However, I do believe that Romney has intentions to lay out his plans for economic recovery in the next few days (before the President). But since he has been planning to do that for weeks, it seems more likely that the President's plan will be contrasted with Romney's to see if it measures up.
If I were a Democratic pol, I'd distance my self from Obama too. Latest Rasmussen poll this morning shows the election numbers at Perry 47% to Obama's 44%. Lots of folks who voted for "hope & change" have some serious buyer's remorse!
JC -- Was anyone paying attention?? The President just pointed a very bright spotlight on the Republican debate. There may be more people watching the GOP debate now - because Obama highlighted the debate AND created anticipation about plans for the economy and jobs. America will be expecting to hear a rational economic plan from the GOP candidates - not dysfunctional political bickering.
John Hunstman is prepared to discuss the economy at the debate. Huntsman sounds like an adult and does not engage in so much political rhetoric. It is going to be difficult for Mitt Romney and Rick Perry to dodge the issue - since they are the Republican 'job creators'. Romney and Perry will both have to sound presidential. Obama will have the opportunity to respond to the GOP plans the following evening.
Obama's (and the country's) biggest problems are the republicans and tea partiers. Pure and simple. It is demonstrated time and again. Get them out of the way and I believe Obama could actually pull the country out of the tailspin the Bush era left it in.
I would like to have seen Obama tell the Speaker to go to heck over the scheduling thing, but seriously all I saw was the GOPTP making themselves more important than the economy AGAIN.
Nobody is going to expect the GOP candidates to layout an economic recovery plan in the two (2) minutes they have to answer questions (as opposed to the 30 - 60 minutes the President will have). Furthermore, unless the moderators asks "What is your plan for economic recovery?", they will more than likely respond to the questions that are asked. Will they talk about it in a broad manner, yes - I'm certain they will. But it is not an appropriate forum to provide an specific details.
I think your analysis misses the mark on this one.
terriels - you do realize that the Executive and Legislative branches are co-equals, right? President Obama cannot just tell Speaker Boehner to "go to heck".
Get them out of the way and I believe Obama could actually pull the country out of the tailspin the Bush era left it in.
Apparently the voters in 2010 didn't agree with your theory. It seems that they did not agree with the methods the President's would use to "pull the country out of the tailspin".
A very simple thought...if one survived a plane crash or a boating disaster and landed on an island with Mr. Obama, would he be the guy everyone looks to for leadership ??? Very doubtful.
He doesn't have what it takes...that's why his polling numbers have continuously slid...the more people listen, the less they want to continue listening.
pjam - I bet there are a lot of Democrats that wish there were more shuttle missions scheduled for next year...... then they could campaign from the space station......
Any hand wringing Dems out there? Where are you going to the Repugnants? Not happening. Perry appears to be the "one". Could they possibly choose anyone worse? I suppose but think they'll settle for this mediocrity. Fourteen months out and the corn-servants are counting phantom chickens. Chicken crap can-dud-dates will beget chicken crap. Buckup! Obama "Four more Years" 2012!
You call the "wacky pack" republican debates useful? Hmmm, Do you believe in God, guns, abortion, anti-gay, anti union and corporate tax cuts? - You're in!!! I'm a Christian and I get ill watching them debate.
Do you blame them. If I were a Democrat running for reelection I would distance my self from the President too. Ho one wands to hang their hat on a falling star!
How inconsistant can a train of dialogue get? There is very little discussion going on here, just as there is very little going on in the Senate. All I have been seeing is an attempt at discussion from some and rhetoric from others...it is very dissappointing that the GOP and Tea Baggers can't get their collective heads out of their 4th point of contact to see that the Whitehouse has been giving them everything they have demanded. Or, if they have and don't want to do anything benificial so Obama won't get credit for it? Shameful.
As a former Republican, I'm a moderate, I can't understand this close-minded "If you aren't with me, you are against me!" attitude that Bush started. The Dems haven't had enough of a majority in the last 15 years to put a stop to the BS the right has been throwing around. Even under Bush, the Dems were afraid to buck the right's propoganda machine.
WE need to be working TOGETHER to dig ourselves out of this mess and leave the political BS at the door!
I see the Republican party is paying people well to make negative comments about Obama here time after time.
The article is flawed. The Republican candidates are still in "attack Obama" mode presenting few ideas about the economy or jobs, and certainly no specifics.
When there is a republican candidate of record, the attacks will go both ways. Additionally, expect the Republican party to take a black eye in finding more cuts.

When are you going to realize that Obama is his own worst enemy? This is why democrats are 'distancing themselves from Obama' - like rats running from a sinking ship.
Would you like to know what my co-workers were saying today about Obama?
They couldn't believe that he's stupid enough to try to postpone the season opening game for the NFL! And just because Boehner wouldn't allow him to interrupt the Republican debate on Wednesday night - which has been scheduled for months in advance. He wanted them to absorb the costs (Changes in contracts at the last minute cost money - or didn't you realize that?)of rescheduling their debate just to suit him! So now he's trying to get the NFL to delay their season opener for him.
So who were the political Trogs that collapsed the Raymond Banner post in #1?? This post was 100% truth and you bunch of Conservative freakin pinheads can't deal with the truth! The GOP/Teabaggers are the most talented obstructionist in US political history. You can't get much else accomplished...but you sure can divert the will of the people! Politics isn't "my way or the highway"...it's intelligent discussion and COMPROMISE! The divergent path that the GOP has taken because of the "little brother" Teabaggers will be your demise as a legitimate party...see ya November 6, 2012.
This is not the time to jump the Progressive ship...this is the time to stand behind President Obama and fight the "obstructionists" and demonstrate support and solidarity. The GOP is self destructing before our eyes with the likes of Perry, Bachmann, and Romney...these people are simply not electable. Get your heads out of your a$$ and stop playing "re-election" politics!! Follow the will of your constituents and quit pandering.
Tammy, for the record. Obama's speech will end before the start of the kick off.....so much for the criticism....don't spend your pay all in one place.
What works well for the Republicans when they get trounced is to be LESS compromising, talk tougher and louder, and point the finger of blame.
Democrats would do well to follow that example.
The wimps who distance themselves from the President and claim to be 'sort of like a Republican' will stagger home in defeat, because who wants a 'sort of like' when you can have the real thing.
Those who show fortitude, boldness, and a willingness to stand up for the Middle Class will win out.
Right now Republican political hacks are way ahead on the leadership issue – even though they are 'leading' us off the edge of a cliff – only because Democrats cave at every opportunity.
Those who shy away from their principles or apologize for their party affiliation will get their butts kicked, and deservedly so.
It's time to take the fight to the public, the way Bill Clinton used to. It's time for the Democratic Party to claim the mantle of being fiscally responsible. The Republican Party abandoned fiscal conservatism circa 2000.
Tammy, people like your co-worker are as unpatriotic, and fringing on un-American, as someone can get. When you think football is more important then a Presidential address you have serious priority issues and possibly mental issues as well. Football is just a game, but the President, even if you did not vote for the person in office, is your commander in chief.
Ron Regan was just talking about this on MSNBC, a lot of the Republican base does not give the Presidency of the United States office the respect it deserves. Sure during Bush Dems were always complaining but I dare you find one quote from a actual non-fringe Dem politician during Bush's entire Presidency where they said their only goal was to make the President fail and that all else was second. Where we had congressmen interrupting a Presidential address to congress to call him a liar.
No President in our history has had to put up with the level of horse @!$%# from opposition that President Obama has had to endure from the fringe and center right.
In my opinion any Washington Politician that has disrespected the Presidency as some of the current congress members have should be relieved of their duties. They are allowed to digress but with purpose, this pathetic mewling from the far right is just too childish to be considered as anything close to critical feedback.
Joe Walsh says Obama abusing his power with speech to Congress -- CBS News
Because putting Americans back to work is not what Republican politicians want.
Joe Walsh is sick of that uppity black guy. Who does Obama think he is, President of the United States? As far as Walsh is concerned, somebody needs to remind Obama that the last time black people lived in the White House, they had to stay out of sight in the basement.
Of course people are going to think the NFL is more important then the president, at least you see some actions in the game. All the president ever do is talk and talk and talk. When he's not golfing, he make speeches.
Obama doesn't know how to create jobs. He forgot to attend economic classes because he was too busy trying to Ace his speech classes.
NAt, Obama knows how to create jobs but the Republican's will not let him. The thing the Republican's fail to grasp is in fact the simple economics and the choice that businesses make during times like these.
The fact of the matter is that you can NEVER trust the private sector to end a depression or a recession and instead of just leaving it at that I am actually going to explain that statement with what I have seen over the years.
During times where the economy is down companies, and more importantly their shareholders (they are part of a key point I will cover later), will do one of two things. They will either not hire any new employees and cut back on the salaries of those that do work for them, possibly riffing a certain percentage, or they will commence mass layoffs and lower the remaining employee's salaries.
This is because when the markets are uncertain private sector companies hunker down, they store their wealth so that if things get worse they can remain solvent. Here is that key shareholder point mentioned earlier.
What also fules this is the shareholders. Any actions that would put their own investments and profits in danger are not acceptable to the shareholders and history has shown that shareholders will demand heads from the board of directors when things are run counter productive to their interests. Because of this few companies will ever hire during a recession and the few that do will not make up enough positive to combat the negative.
Companies also reward their boards and CEO's with bonuses if they remain solvent during hard recessions, something we saw in excess after Bush enacted TARP. Because of this BOD' (Board of Directors') and CEO's see no reason to jeopardize either their businesses nor bonuses by testing the waters and hiring employees when there is much uncertainty in the markets.
Case in point, public sector jobs. Public sector jobs are created by the Government via stimulus bills or other spending bills. These jobs create a demand for resources that come from the private sector. This demand increase then sets a fire under the butts of some production and manufacturing companies which start to hire more workers. These workers spend their money on bills, food, and other goods creating a demand in those areas thereby lifting up the whole economy.
This is how Presidents have always stimulated job and economical growth.
However we have this problem with the debt now because we spent our way out of the depression, out of the recessions, and because of our wars and Government waste. We are in a Catch 22 situation.
If we do not spend money on public sector jobs the economy will never recover fully and we will remain fairly weak. If we spend on stimulus packages we increase our debt and then we have to deal with the debt ceiling once again and possible further downgrades due to partisanship antics and other factors.
Either way we are going to take a bullet to our knee caps but not to spend on stimulus would mean an eventual shot to the head if we ever get drawn into another overseas engagement or when we get hit by multiple large scale disasters.
While spending on the public sector will give us a temporary path to right the economy but could present us with that same scenario if taxes are not increased to help pay down the debt or to fund infrastructure or other stimulus bills.
Cutting public sector jobs is never going to make the economy recover, Government is the public sector and with ever cut we are eliminating those jobs.
"Anyone who says Obama is going to be a drag on the ticket should look [at] the polling numbers for congressional Republicans,"
OK, let's look at them;
"A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 45% of Likely U.S. Voters would vote for their district’s Republican congressional candidate, while 36% would choose the Democrat instead. That gap is up three points from last week"
As for Obama, here are his figures;
"The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows that 19% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -21"
When Obama took office, his figure was +29, which means that 50% of voters (+29 to -21) have changed their minds about Obama.
You're welcome. To be honest, I too was asking "What happened to the jobs", so I sat down and actually looked into it. Took about 15 seconds to find it, but as we all know, Democrats aren't too hip to research.
Here's the thing, Dems, Independents and even moderate Repubs are not going to vote for any of the current crop of GOP candidates. Say what you want about "distancing"....but you can't beat something with nothing, just ask Ried and Angle!
Dragon, here's the thing, Obama is like a ship going under. First thing anyone who wants to survive has to do is get away as far as possible so when the ship goes under it does not suck you down with it. A vote for a shoe would be better then a vote for Obama.
The guys they talk about don't even sound like real Dems. And it sounds like they're in districts that are on the fence anyway. Regardless, what are these guys gonna do if the economy turns around? Flip-flop again. These aren't the kind of candidates I'd vote for...
Obama has pulled center right. What he will face in opposition will likely be extreme right and unelectable.
Perhaps Obama should let Republicans have their way on cutting education, tax cuts, privatizing medicare and medicaid, and watch as the middle class explodes in opposition.
The so-called "Democrats" referenced in this article are nothing but fair-weather friends and are not worth the ink it takes to pillory them. These are the same disloyal opportunists who supported Obama when it was fashionable to do so, and are now the first to jump ship when they're finally called upon to stand by their principles.
One need only remind onesself what a botch-up job McCain, a seasoned and, for the most part, straightforward political veteran, would have done with the current boatload of crises, to realize that Obama has already made, and continues to make, more positive changes to the state of the nation than anyone the Republican obstructionists or Tea Party buffoons could muster up.
The problem with America in general, and the Republicans in Congress in particular, is that everyone is so damned concerned with keeping their jobs that they forget to do their jobs. The only way to change that is to toss all of them out on their ears and elect representatives of real (versus lip-service) integrity.
This may sound like the Impossible Dream, given the current state of American politics (and the polarization of its people), but it can be, and has been done by countries far less "civilized" than we are.
I do expect this to happen eventually, but not yet. There's still too much trust in today's mainstream media. The best place to get news is from multiple sources and compare between them to find the real story under the spin.
I think that the career politicians in Congress are despicable! Their exceptionally low approval rating speaks volumes about how useless and petty they ALL are.
I routinely vote out encumbants on my ballot unless I'm geniunely pleased with both their stance and their ability to negotiate appropriately (it's not a long list...and it seems to get shorter every year).
I wish more people would stop voting for their party like it's their religion! Vote for the person, not the party! Stop letting the parties play this zero-sum game of running their inept puppet against the other guy's incompetant lunatic!
The results of the Senate primaries in CA were all too telling! I thought Tom Campbell was a great potential Senator to replace Boxer. But the geniuses in the GOP threw their support behind Fiorina because she's a more extreme wacko who's iffy on abortion-rights, a total corporate-shill, and completely maluable on subjects like immigration and subsidies.
The thing about that that especially bothered me is that the GOP would rather have lost to Boxer than to have supported the moderate candidate that would have stood a good chance of replacing her.
Face it, the Party-leaders don't want moderates, they want zealots. Zealots are easy to control, they will support a cause (no matter how irrational) provided that it fits within their narrow view, they are often not strong enough to be re-elected without major party-support, and they've often got enough skeletons in their closet that they can be reigned in if they start to get out of line.
One need only remind onesself what a botch-up job McCain, a seasoned and, for the most part, straightforward political veteran, would have done with the current boatload of crises
You have got to tell us where to purchase a crystal ball like yours........ since he wasn't voted in we will never know whether he would have done a better or worse job than President Obama. However, given the current approval rating of the President, it is not difficult to imagine that anyone with actual leadership experience (such as a military officer) might have fared better.
We need to show everyone that Socialism does work and we need to spend our way out of this troubled economy. Progressives need to stand strong and stay the course of federal government rules all of us and we need more programs for the needy and poor while keep the unions strong. We need to change it so the Black Panther can stand outside of all voting booths to make sure the Republicans are scared to show up. We need to work with all districts to make sure the votes goes our way even if we have to rig the machines. This is war and we need true soldiers to stand up and fight the evil empire of businesses.
Heh..... I live in Rep. Owens' district. And it's hardly "republican friendly".
My son is also the Unit Administrator and an E-7 with the 962nd Ordnance Division here, and this is a highly pro-military family town.
And if he wants to keep his seat, he better stfu and stay out of the news. We put his @ss in the office to stand behind the president. And he damn well better start doing it.
Independents and Republicans can't make up their minds yet about which GOP candidate to support, but they will take the primary winner and are of one mind and will not support Obama. Most Democrats will support Obama whether or not they admit it publicly.
It's a sad situation but I don't see anybody that I want to serve as President.
You Democrats better dig up someone better than Obama or you don't have a chance.
You Republicans better get real and not elect a career politician to run on the Republican side. The Country is sick of them and want someone who will listen to them and then do the right thing and get advisors that are smarter than they are.
Cut to the chaise, America is in really deep trouble financially and will not recover until we get a leader in the White house that has some real experience and superb leadership qualities.
We need someone who can come up with GREAT IDEAS and the guts and means to carry them out.
We need someone to restore a sense of responsibility, accountability, and pride in doing a good job for the American citizens. Instead of prideful grandstanding and speeches.
We need someone who stands by our constitution. period!. period.! I'm sick of how our constitution has been abused by this administration!
We need a president who will defend Israel our best friend ever!
We need someone who can defend our country against the abuse of some of these countries who are unfair in their import and export laws to America. Stop buying junk from China, Indonesia, India, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Others. At least Japan employees American workers by having their auto plants here, so go ahead and buy a Honda, at least while Japan keeps Americans working.
We need reimbursements of all the trillions of dollars we have wasted on rebuilding all these other countries and protecting them for all these years. We need to start charging NATO for our military services and any other country we help.
We need to make our import, export laws more strict to help us compete in world markets.
We need to buy American, manufacture American, and live like Americans. and be a bonded country, not divided.
This racial stuff is for the birds, please someone tell those fools from the democratic black congress who have been calling the tea party terrorist, and racist that they are the ones who are really racist. Just listen to them for once, maybe all Whites, Asians, and Es panics and any others who are not black should take note.......if all blacks are told to vote for Obama, then maybe we as other races should vote for someone else. I vote for a presidential candidate that is worthy of office not for their color but for their character, quality and experience. If we were had the same mind set of this group, Obama would never have a chance of getting re-elected.
why would any democrat distance themselves from Obama .. he is clearly going to be reelected ... who would these so called democrats align themselves with ? .. the tea party crazies!
From some of these posts the "volunteer" Obama posters are either smoking funny stuff or desparate to show they think he has a snowballs chance in your know where. If Jeff the Wonderful wasn't being facitious, he really needs help, but unfortunaetly that is the war cry from the Whitehouse and the ex Acorn, who knows who they are called now.
The only thing more telling is the constant black caucus rants about the Tea Party being racist and terrorists blah blah blah.
Hmmm wasn't it the black panters standing outside polling places trying to intimidate people. Now that is attempted terrorism but Holder would not take action. If there is any racism in the fact that Obama is going to lose, it is the push by black racists to bring back the racist past just to see him elected. He could not have gotten elected in the first place without a lot of other races voting for him so this race stuff is bullcrap. He will be voted out this time not because he is 50% black but because he is 100% in competent.
Congress (lower house) can only blame themselves - essentially have sidelined themselves. Do we really need them ? Lets save some money and eliminate - we would get better legislation with just the Senate and Administration!
Maybe if the republicans “no can do” policies keep the economy in the toilet for just two more years they will be able to get a Republican back in the White House? (No)
If the GOP can just run the country into a true economic depression they might get that snowballs chance in h#ll they keep striving for? (No)
Right now with the long and short list of completely un-electable candidates they have assembled … President Obama’s numbers could be in the negative range and he will still be re-elected.
If the Republican Party feels that the policies of Bush and Chaney had nothing to do with the state of the world economy’s banking bust, millions of jobs lost, or that the way the wars in Afghanistan, and Iraq were handled correctly, why then do the republicans not run old faithful Ex-Vice President Dick Cheney?
Republicans and Tea Party history revisionists can hide from this, and pretend it didn’t happen, and keep dragging their feet in an attempt to get the rest of the people in the USA or the world for that matter to remember it their way, till they all turn blue from holding their breath but it will not make one iota of difference come election time.
The rest of the country remembers the way it really went down, and can see how the republicans have since the last election done everything imaginable to make a bad situation in the United States worse.
What the Republican Party should do from now until the 2012 election is pick a candidate that will loose gracefully, and start rebuilding their party from the ground up.
The Democrats are not perfect, we know this … and they will make mistakes as leaders, but at this time the American public would rather elect a tree stump than put another republican president in office that might, I say “might” take the USA even further down into this sh#t hole that we are currently stuck up to our necks in.
The Republicans and Tea Party members are going to see they should have been trying to hold on to the seats in congress they got a hold of before this last little immature show the US public got last month.
As long as the current group of clowns remain in the clown car.
The GOP candidates are so "out there" that it's a given in the general Obama will win. Unless the GOP nominates a moderate like a Huntsman - which they won't - they will end up shooting themselves in their own foot. The majority of Americans aren't right-wing nut-job crazy.
The Democratic rats are starting to abandon a sinking Obama ship..........
Will the party start telling candidates in swing districts that it's alright to distance themselves from Obama in 2012, like they did with Pelosi in 2010?
Independents and Republicans can't make up their minds yet about which GOP candidate to support, but they will take the primary winner and are of one mind and will not support Obama.
You may be right about Republicans, but you are dead wrong about independents.
I've always said if you voted for him just because he was Black..Your just as racist as someone who did not vote for him just because he was Black..Get it...:)
Alan O.-3429365 - Heh..... I live in Rep. Owens' district. And it's hardly "republican friendly".
Every time (almost no exceptions) that there has been a Demoncrap and not a Repugnant, there have been a Cut to the Bone Reduction In Forces (RIF) of the US Military.
Alan O.-3429365 - My son is also the Unit Administrator and an E-7 with the 962nd Ordnance Division here, and this is a highly pro-military family town.
Are you Volunteering YOUR areas US Military for President Obama's already announced RIF of 27,000. If not you should, that would "back up" President Obama's Policies. If not you are a Hypocrite (do as I say, not as I do):
Alan O.-3429365 -And if he wants to keep his seat, he better stfu and stay out of the news. We put his @ss in the office to stand behind the president. And he damn well better start doing it.
The article is about democrats in sensitive districts / areas distancing themselves from the president to try and hang on to their jobs.
Democrats in traditionally democratic areas (ie "safe" areas) are not abandoning ship.
It happens every election. You hitch your star to whatever trend will get you re-elected.
This is nothing new.
As far as fixing the problems, unless both sides agree to do what's right for the country instead of playing politics, the problems will not be solved. This is not a "one party" problem.
V Daet - Cut to the chaise, America is in really deep trouble financially and will not recover until we get a leader in the White house that has some real experience and superb leadership qualities.
Real Life or Death (Yours) Leadership is not trained to US Civilians, and since no training, no experience either.
The US Civilian concept of Leadership is (based on many posts here on Newsvine) "Looks like a President", "Sounds like a President", "Acts like a President"; this is a Popularity Contest (Beauty Contest) and not what Real Leadeship (Actions, Results) is.
This can also be seen in the US Civilian Concept that Respect must be given based on Position (Job), Social Standing, etc.. And this is far from the truth, as Respect, Friendship, Trust, Love, etc. are things that are EARNED, NOT Given. Many times on Newsvine you can see the posts "You have to Respect President Obama", this is far from the real concept of respect, as I can respect the Office of the President, and not respect the incumbent.
Real Leadership, eventually means that you can by sheer expertise, only if necessary make those that you are Responsible for do things at the best of their capabilities that may endanger their very existance willingly. And that would mean that you share the hardships (risk your life) by leading from the front, not the bunker, secure area or rear. Your determination (Leadership) then becomes a Combat Multiplier, as morale.
Seeing death of a result of your own failed Leadership stresses the need for expanding your Leadership capabilities and knowledge, and the extent of your own personal Responsibility. This is where the disconnect is at for US Civilian Leadership, resulting in the "Let them eat cake" mentality (US Civilian Leadership out of touch with Reality), as to why Real Leaders use the information from all levels as their senses to determine how good or bad the situation really is, and requires a lot of listening and not to only what you want to hear (to gain Intelligence and Psychology of the Situation "On the Ground".).
Many Real Leaders know from experience that they must many things to many diverse people (even within the US Military)(what Psychologist misinterprete as a "Mixed Personality Disorder"), Father, Mother, Brother, Sister, Uncle, Relative, Friend, etc. as the situations demand.
Real Leaders also know that all the training of Leadership Principles, Theories, Education, etc. are just enough to survive long enough to develop their own Leadership traits (style) based on their own experience. This is why if possible Leadership is trained to the lowest levels (Ranks, Grades) within the US Military. This is what separates the US Military Soldier from the Military Soldiers of other Militaries that are Command Directed Only (no Orders means nothing done), with the lowest level Enlisted with experience being more of a Real Leader than someone trained on principles, theories, etc. with no experience (Why I demand that my subordinate Officers listen to their experienced NCOs and Warrant Officers. From observation, that is why most Academy Graduates (Political Nominees, Academics) usually Fail). Academics Only with no Experience meeting the Real World = Failure.
From experience, most Real Leaders will never use the Sports (non life threatning) definition of Team, "There is no I in Team", as in real Leadership application, Leaders will use to the advantage of the Team, the I's of Real Teams (that do not go home after a loss of a "game", unless it is in a flag draped metal coffin), (I)nitative, (I)ndividuality (stengths and weaknesses), (I)novation, (I)ntegrity, (I)ngenuity, (I)ntelligence, etc..
The above short list is what I learned in the School of Hard Knocks, after decades of actual experience and training.
V Daet - We need reimbursements of all the trillions of dollars we have wasted on rebuilding all these other countries and protecting them for all these years.
That will not happen as these Missions are UN Missions, Nation Building. For this to stop would require the US to get out of the United Nations.
V Daet - We need to start charging NATO for our military services and any other country we help.
By sheer numbers of US Military Forces, US Military Bases, Membership money, etc. the US is NATO. Because of everything committed by the US to NATO, as proof, the Commander of NATO is usually a US Military General or Admiral, as SACEUR.
SB-632402 - Congress (lower house) can only blame themselves - essentially have sidelined themselves. Do we really need them ? Lets save some money and eliminate - we would get better legislation with just the Senate and Administration!
Did you ever have High School Civics, as to why there is a Senate, House of Representatives as the Legislative Branch, the Executive Branch, the Judical Branch. YOU REALLY NEED TO FIGURE THAT OUT, especially from the Historical Perspective. The knowlege gained by your own research will be more respected by you, than my spoon feeding you.
I know, just look at Alan O.-3429365, trying to blame that on the Repugnants.
That Political Distancing is just like:
President Obama distancing himself from the US Military Mission to Pakistan, until the US Military Leadership and US Intelligence Leadership Force him to acknowledge and accept the Special Reconnaissance Mission would proceed regardless of what he said, or they would reveil some things that would kill his Political Career.
So when he took too long and actually froze, Leon Penetta had to order the termination of Osama Bin Laden.
Most Presidents going far back distance themselves from US Military Missions in case of failure, to save their Political Career and the Office of the President. Credible Deniability.
This is what also happened with Rescue of the Captain at Somalia.
This is why most of us that have been doing things for a very long time keep detailed notes, so that we will not become scapegoats, with the full weight of the Office of the President used to crush us (blame us for failure, claims of exceeding authority, and all the other things that the US Politicians have done to us as "Politically Expedient" (saving their own Political arses and not taking Responsibility for their own crappy decisions that limited our actions or options.)).
david, pretty good post, but, I was always taught to give respect to my elders and anyone I met....Now, in same breath, I choose not to respect those who do not warrant any...Barry for instance..
Also. are you prior/current military? Civilian comes out alot in your post, and last time I heard it used like that was in the service...:)
Been involved with the US Military Training Teams to US Ally Iraq during the Iran Iraq Wars; later rotated to Pakistan/Afghanistan during the USSR 40th Army Occupation.
Everything between the above until now (Panama, Redacted, Indonesia, South and Central Americas, Kuwait, First Gulf War, Redacted, Somalia, Philippines,, Operation Desert Fox, 2001 Afghanistan, Sudan, 2002 prior to 2003 Liberation of Iraq, currently the men and women of my Command has been conducting US Military Asymmetric Mountain Warfare (NE Afghanistan) years of consecutive tours.
Most of us are multiple times involuntarily recalled to Active Duty from Retirement, "Needs of National Security", as "Middle East"(including Islamic Africa, Islamic Asia) Qualified US Military Asymmetric Warfare. First reason why we have a sh!tty attitude.
The previous Cut to the Bone Reduction In Forces of the US Military crippled the current US Military Asymmetric Warfare Forces to 3% of the Entire US Military, of this 3% we are the only ones with the formal training (College at US and Islamic Nations Colleges) and experience (decades of Living with the Locals, NOT living isolated on a FOB, COB, Secure AFB, Green Zone, etc.) in Islam (minimum College Level Bachelors) and the Languages (minimum College Level Bachelors), the other thing that makes use unique is that we were also trained and experiened in Technical Mountain Climbing (Winter and Summer) and Winter/Arctic Warfare. Because it takes decades to train us (including "operational experience"), they should have started a very long time ago training our replacements, but, due to the previous RIFs that never happened. Second reason we have a sh!tty attitude.
Note: We know from experience that those that usually finally make it thru training were from the mountains of TN (Tennessee) as Hunters (to survive), most Marathon Runners, Tri Athletes, Mountain Climbers, Soccer Players, and that usually the Football and Basketball Players cannot. One of our assessments is completion of the US Army Ranger School (after Air Assault and Airborne Schools), followed by any Branches Asymmetric Warfare School, the one of final assessments is at the Appalachian Trail followed by training with US Ally Redacted at Southern Redacted, before you even get to us about 10.5 years later (not including mandatory language and Islam). Third reason we have a sh!tty attitude (the US Military made our hobbies into our job).
The fourth reason why most of us are pissed is that after our first Retirement, like me my second career was Teaching at Inner City Schools, that ended, after being recalled. Then I retired again, my third career was Retail Sales (manager), since no one else would hire me (they do not know if you will get recalled and for how long), also ruined after being recalled. Most of us are also divorced, as to gain the trust of the local population we may be gone on years of consecutive tours; the real pain of this is the US Civilian Courts ignoring the US Law, Service members Civil Relief Act, and automatically awarding everything (including our US Military Documents, US Military Uniforms, etc. that we left Stateside, Joint Savings Accounts, Separate Savings Accounts, House, Furnishings, Vehicle(s), etc.) to the Non Service Member Spouse (Male or Female), and leaving us broke with only the uniforms on our backs*. Most of us also lost Child Custody regardless of our Deployment Packages already addressing our parents, relatives taking care of our Children. These are the main reasons why the US Military has such high domestic violence rates, high murder rates, high suicide rates. The US Civilian Court Judges might thank you for your sacrifice but in the same breath rule against you, even if the Spouse committed Felony Crimes (theft from a US Government Employee, Fraud (listing you on the Birth Certificate for someone else's child), etc..).
*Because this happens too often, I have a fund within my Command, money from my Stateside Business (that is started after losing my second and third careers), to Loan (give, with no interest and do not expect to be paid back) to those that are broke because of this.
Something I took for granted ever since the US Military Training Teams to US Ally Iraq.
Before you say Bullsh!t, etc..
Women as "Amazons" (our name for them back then, Women as Combatants) we knew from training (Islam) that only Women associate with Women so we demanded that they be on the Teams. As members of our Training Teams would accompany those trained into Combat, to make later adjustments to Training or on the spot corrections; so we become Combatants (side by side with those we trained, a motivation to make sure they are fully trained.).
Where these Women came from, trained to our levels, I can only guess, SAD. I never saw any Women at many of the Schools I went to. These Women just show up on Orders.
So now a days they are "Lionesses" (male lions sleep, mating, lick themselves, while the female lionesses go hunting) as Women as Combatants. Since they are also trained as Physician's Assistants like most of us they provide the Medical Humanitarian Assistance (part of our routine Mission) to the Islamic Women. As for us (Men) to do so can result in our hands being chopped off or the Islamic woman (women) that we treat being stoned to death. If you want to piss off a large group at an Islamic Nation, have a US Military Male search an Islamic Woman wearing a Burkha in Public.
So when the US Military Conventional Warfare Forces arrived all of the above was a Big F**king Surprise, and they were unprepared (not enough "Lionesses"). And most cannot even grasp the concepts.
Latest Rasmussen poll this morning shows the election numbers at Perry 47% to Obama's 44%. Lots of folks who voted for "hope & change" have some serious buyer's remorse!
If you think that's bad, imagine how horrible it will be if people actually elect Perry and he keeps his campaign promise to choke off the money supply, thus triggering the Second Great Depression.
Perry would make Bush's recession look like the good old days.
if the republicans “no can do” policies keep the economy in the toilet for just two more years they will be able to get a Republican back in the White House
Gotta agree with Dragon. It's pretty sad if Obama win second terms not due to the voters believing that he can will do better in the second term but because the other guy is a doozie and will do even worst.
Gosh Hillary NEED TO RUN AGAIN!!! This republican will vote for Hillary. Bachman is an idiot and Perry is just plain scary.
Maybe other New Jersey politicians are remembering all the help Mr. Obama brought to the campaign for re-electing New Jersey Governor John Corzine just a short time back. He worked pretty hard to keep the guy in office and the more he showed up to deliver speeches, the faster Corzine's stock crumbled.
Tony, I said it above, the political mind set is what have you done for me lately. The dems rode his coattails when it benefitted them. I am sorry for Mr. Obama because they have shown very little loyalty, they are just out to get theirs.
Having said that, the reps do the same thing. It is all about what benefits them.
Obama has shown no loyalty to the thousands of volunteers who trusted him to act in their best interests. Instead he has given them a higher budget deficit and takes care of his wealthy donors to the detriment of the middle class.
Yeah, if Democrats like these would really rather have the Tea Party menace in full power then I guess they'll have to completley go over to the Dark Side to get anything done!! Scary indeed!!
The American middle class won't take much more of supporting the rich and corporations.
While Republicans can temporarily rejoice in Obama's approval numbers, please remember that the approval numbers of Boehner and the House are lower than Obama's.
Get real, this trash about pitting the rich against the poor is getting tiresome. Who are the rich?????? The people who employee you. Go ahead and cut your nose off to spite your face. Someone needs to understand that poor people do not hire, rich do. Just so you know I'm not rich, I'm middle case. But at least I'm not foolish enough to believe all the liberal propaganda.
Republicans at least are trying to put a stop this president from spending us down to a bankrupt nation. We have no money, we are broke and in debt to China and Japan and who knows how many others. Please, pray tell me how we can afford another failed stimulus that your democrat president wants, and pray tell me how we can afford to raise taxes even on the rich in a depressed economy without more jobs moving out of this country? Go ahead and tax the rich! they have enough money to go elsewhere and live, even change citizenship if they want too.
What you foolish people do not understand is that taxing the rich is not the answer to prosperity in the US. It is getting the middle case back to work, getting quality jobs in America once again, getting the government off our backs so a free society can function, thrive, and prosper again. Getting Obama and the democrats out of office would be a wise move.
I'm not buying the democrat's games any longer and so should the majority of Americans wake up to their political games.
Who are the rich? I'd say personal income of $1M or more annually - that's rich. Wealthy? The ones making $5M and above and there are 10s of thousands of them.
You can spot them very easily - they're the ones not hiring.
What you foolish people do not understand is that taxing the rich is not the answer to prosperity in the US.
No, what YOU don't understand is history Vdaet. The current taxation "Bush Tax Cuts" didn't work since if they had we wouldn't be in the mess which Obama inherited in 08'. Yeah it got worse - Jesus can't fix this mess caused by those tax cuts and wars created by the GOP and Bush starting in 2001. Higher taxation under Clinton created surpluses and fostered the greatest economy in U.S. history.
Obama has shown no loyalty to the thousands of volunteers who trusted him to act in their best interests. Instead he has given them a higher budget deficit and takes care of his wealthy donors to the detriment of the middle class.
Could not vote for him in '08, will not in '12!
Budget deficit when Obama came in 1.3+ trillion 2009 Bush budget
Budget deficit 1.4+ trillion 2010 Obama budget
Budget deficit 1.5+ trillion 2011 Obama budget
Budget deficit 1.28 trillion 2012 Obama budget
Budget deficit according to CBO less than 1 trillion 2013 Obama budget.
How quickly some people forget that this whole time there was a recession in America. Cuts would have meant thousands of government jobs being lost.
Obama has been trying to lower the deficit while keeping the economy going.
What wealthy donors? Can you provide some proof please?
V DaetRepublicans at least are trying to put a stop this president from spending us down to a bankrupt nation.
Obama's first budget year started on October 1, 2009. The expenditures which were incurred during the first 8 months of his presidency were already budgeted before he took office. The debt on September 30, 2009, was 11.909 trillion. The majority of the increase in debt was due to interest on loans incurred during the Bush administration and the stimulus which, contrary to your talking head heroes, did help the economy.
Bush deficit 1.3 trillion when he left office.
Bush budget 2009 3.2 trillion
Obama budget 2010 3.8
Obama budget 2011 3.8
Obama Budget 2012 3.7
Thats Obama spending!!!!
remember that spending was needed to get out of the recession.
Why do you people mix in deficits with spending? I know it makes Obama look bad.
That spending.... you mean the spending after Lehman's collapse when we were on the precipice of the abyss and the financial system was on the verge of collapse after 8 years of a Republican who inherited surpluses.
Don't forget, the surplus you refer to was from a Republican congress in the late '90s.
We were on the precipe of the abyss after a Democratic Congress in 2007 & 2008.
I don't remember any Dems rushing to introduce legislation in 2007 to prevent an oncoming collapse, so don't blame it all on Bush. And the Dems played the Healthcare fiddle all during 2009 & 2010 while the jobs market slowly burned. They payed the price for that in the 2010 elections. The President may pay the price for it in 2012.
The U.S. budget situation has deteriorated significantly since 2001, when the CBO forecast average annual surpluses of approximately $850 billion from 2009–2012. The average deficit forecast in each of those years as of June 2009 was approximately $1,215 billion. The New York Times analyzed this roughly $2 trillion "swing," separating the causes into four major categories along with their share:
Recessions or the business cycle (37%);
Policies enacted by President Bush (33%);
Policies enacted by President Bush and supported or extended by President Obama (20%); and
New policies from President Obama (10%).
The article states that "President Obama’s agenda ... is responsible for only a sliver of the deficits", but that he "...does not have a realistic plan for reducing the deficit..."
Looks to me that Obama is responsible for (20%+10%) or nearly as much as Bush is. That's a pretty big sliver.
That is idiocy the Whitehouse has directed the economy since the start of the Republic. Do you think Democrats in Congress invented trickle down under Reagan or that the GOP supported Clinton economic policy. Did you forget that whole shut down the government thing in the 90s. Congress funds or defunds programs and passes laws they do not direct the National Economy, was it called Reaganomics or the 96thCongressanomics, is Nixon credited with wage and price controlls or Congress or Johnsons Great Society or FDRs New Deal. It is only this current group of power mad lunatics who have tried to hamstring any economic recovery in order to defeat Obama just ask Mitch McConnell.
I guess you are right, Jim. President Obama completely owns this economy and will have to answer to the voters next year. No more blaming Bush for it four years later.
Again simplistic idiocy everyone realized that the New Deal was not going to repair the 29 market crash or the 32 banking collapse. History is neither a vacuum nor an absolute it is a continuum. (how about two UU words in the same sentence). Economic cycles, blame or responsibility are generally viewed over periods of 12 to 30 yrs the effect of 2-4 years is not usually a viable sample. Exceptions like the negative effects of Jacksonian economics were immediately apparent. The Congressional stonewalling Obamas plans have encountered make it almost impossible to evaluate if they would have worked the have never been implemented. Obama wanted revenue increases via repeal of the Bush tax cuts, spending on education, alternative energy production, single payer and infrastructure have never been implemented because of GOP obstruction. If the GOP ever engages in compromise or Dems carry both Houses you will be able to assess his body of work. I doubt if you can name one other president in US history with the possible exception of half of the Clinton Administration if so please do so.
The US Law Passed and Budgeted for, as the Health Care Reform Act, is $1.7 Trillion USDs, adjusted for inflation is $2.1 Trillion USDs.
So where is that ($1.7 to $2.1 Trillion) in your "Facts" (numbers) of 2010 and 2011.
By not including that, negates your "Facts".
And if you start saying future budget, wrong that is NOT what happens when a US Law passes.
Most of you need to do the detailed research into what actually Caused the current $60-100 Trillion USD "Global Economic Crisis" consisting of the "Mortgage Crisis", "Wall Street Crisis", "Financial Crisis", "Banking Crisis", "Credit Crisis", etc..
And yes, President Bush did nothing to stop the "Global Economic Crisis"; however, knowing the Cause, this did not really start until after President Obama actually was sworn into Office (many in Power behind the scenes had no faith in him, the same sh!tbags that caused the "Global Economic Crisis".).
What the F**K did you hire (vote) Candidate Obama for. "Looked like a President", "Sounds like a President".
Did you even listen to the Presidential Debates (all of them), his promises are Documented Verbal Contracts.
Do you even know why he concentrated on Health Care Reform instead of the US Economy, followed by US Jobs, then Health Care?
Can you say $1 Billion USDs of Unlimited Corporate Campaign Contributions from the Insurance Industry, Medical Device Industry, and Pharmaceuticals Industry. PBS Documentary "Obama's Deal", "President's Proposal", Health Care Reform Act (final), Associated Press: "Unlikely ally of health care reform: business Insurers, drug companies came on board early and may profit from it", US Supreme Court Transcript (Unlimited Corporate Campaign Contributions), CBS News: The Price Tag of Politics, etc..
Brian P - the financial system was on the verge of collapse after 8 years of a Republican who inherited surpluses.
If you even have an idea of what caused the collapse (which you do not) you knew that it started long ago.
Again with Bullsh!t Surpluses. US Congress sandbagging by appropriating more money than could be spent. A Budget created by Professional Politicians that cannot even balance their personal checkbooks or pay income taxes, created for another Professional Politician "I did not have sex with that woman" (his sperm on her blue dress). THE REAL MEASURE OF THE US ECONOMY IS THE NATIONAL DEBT AND THE INTEREST ON THE NATIONAL DEBT:
President Clinton: Interest on the National Debt $18.9 Billion. Source Democratic National Committee*.
President Bush: Interest on the National Debt $16.6 Billion. Source Democratic National Committee*.
*Brian P your own Party the Democratic National Committee (DNC) says that you are FOS (Full Of Sh!t).
There is also the Misery Index (Historically Developed by the DNC to use against the Repugnants).
President Obama is a few points away from creating the same misery for US Citizens as Tricky Dick (Liar) Nixon. And a few points after that equal to creating the same Misery for US Citizens as President Bush. With those numbers, I would be running from as skunk also.
Again Brian P your own party, the DNC, is saying you are FOS.
If the stupid Democrats would just insist on eliminating tax breaks, tax loopholes, and tax dodges for the rich; eliminated the cap on FICA contributions; DEMANDED pay as you go; and STUCK TO THEIR GUNS on works programs, bringing jobs to America, and proposed stimulus measures that don't just benefit a few who have acted irresponsibly, they'd win in a landslide.
Obama has had the right policies all along. He just hasn't had the near universal backing that's required for a black man to get anything through a white legislature. (Republicans might not be taking that tack just because Obama's black, but they sure wouldn't be able to succeed with those tactics against a white man. Birtherism? A MAJORITY of Repbulicans? Really?)
As it is, the Democrats look like weaklings who don't have the backbone to fight, much less win.
These dem incumbents must think people are so stupid. The talk about distancing themselves from Obama. No one will believe it. They voted in line for Obama since he took office. So, if they are running away from Obama, then they will have to lie and claim that even though they voted in lockstep with Obama, we didn't mean it. But, this is not surprising. Like Obama, he's going to run a scorched earth campaign rather than run on his record. Let's face it, everyone would laugh at him if he ran on his record and espoused how well the country is doing, all thanks to him standing up for the little people.
I believe the "scorched earth campaign" is already well underway....just look at the comments that are being posted on 'Newsvine'...as if no other politician in his or her right mind could dare challenge the supreme leadership skills of Barrack Obama.
The rose-colored glasses are a fashion-must for Democrat voters these days !
WITCH; "Scorched earth" you say? Kinda like the campaign Dubya ran for his second term in office??? Your party INVENTED and then PERFECTED sleazy campaings. Do the names Roger Ailes & Lee Atwater ring any bells with you???
There are 25 Democratic Senators up for re-election while only 10 Republicans. These guys are looking out for themselves. They know there is a much greater chance of the Republicans taking the Senate than the Democrats taking back the House. It is simply a matter of numbers. They are trying to position themselves back toward the center to save their own political futures. They see Obama's polls in their own states and know he is a liability at this point. The left is yelling about getting the Obama stimulus by the Republicans. Try getting it by your own Democrats first.
Ray - I think you're exactly right. Why else do you suppose that Harry Reid would avoid bringing the House bills up for a vote in the Senate? None of those 25 Democrat Senators want to have to go on the record with a vote (one way or the other) - if they do, they're probably toast in 2012.
witchrunner: "...all thanks to him (Obama)standing up for the little people."
With all due respect, how is 9.2% unemployment and an anti-private sector business agenda "standing up" for any American, especially the "little people" WHO NEED JOBS?!
Shellie - are you suggesting that this administration is somehow "pro-business"? You must be kidding. What exactly is it that you think they have done to help private sector businesses? Threaten Cap and Trade to drive up the price of energy? Nope. That wouldn't be it. Add thousands of new regulations? Nope. Don't think that's it either. Perhaps you could enlighten us......
ozzie boy: You must be very young. So, you're excused for your ignorance. The "scorched earth" mentality started with Clinton. At least as it is known as such. Clinton had affairs with a number of women. He and his ilk set out to destroy those who accused him. Hence, the "scorched earth" policy, as it was known even then. In truth, it started, at least since WWII, with the dems and the Robert Bork nomination to the Supreme Court. It continued with the Thomas nomination, but didn't work. So, no, the sleaze of the current politics started with the dems. And, Obama's advisers have even admitted that their tactics for getting Obama re-elected is for them to tear apart their opponent, not defend Obama's record. Not that that's any surprise because his record can't be defended. So, now you might want to do your research and when you get educated, feel free to post again.
Leona: Please do yourself a favor and learn to read everything that someone writes and pay attention to the politics. You are right about the unemployment being high, and therefore, are right to ask how he is standing up for the little people. As you are not apparently aware yet, the dems always run on a platform that proclaims they are for the poor and middle class and that the republicans are the party of the rich, only. The problem is that all of their policies, although proclaimed as being in favor of the "working man," are actually destructive of the working man. The fact is that whenever you want to punish the "rich," you end up really punishing the middle and lower class. Why? Because the "rich" are the people who employ everyone else. And, they are well aware of when government institutes policies that will hurt them and their businesses, and the economy. When they are pinched, they do the logical thing, which is to make the dollar go farther. That means they don't hire as long as they can get by with the workers they have. It's not being selfish, it's called self-preservation. Look at it from the stand point of a consumer. If you are fired, laid off, or your pay is reduced, are you really going out and spending more money? Of course not. You are going to cut back and make sure you can provide for you and your family first. Do you really think you are selfish for cutting back on spending in such times, or do you consider yourself as being practical? The dems and livs will call you selfish, just like they are calling businesses.
You need to actually read US electoral history and not some graphic novel. Have you ever heard of CREEP or Donald Segretti, The Southern Strategy, The Moral Majority, Atwater or Rove. Read Lee Atwater on the slime he was involved with and his tearful deathbed condemnation of what he and the GOP had done to American Politics. Reagan kicked off his campaign in Philadelphia Mississippi. Ring any bells? How about that Watergate thing? How about Willie Horton? Mc'Cains black love child with a prostitute? Swiftboating? Fox News? Whitewater? October Surprise? The Arkansas Project? These aren't fanciful maybe's they are pieces of modern US electoral history there are no comparable Democratic events. These don't even count the attacks on Obamas race, religion, ethnicity, citizenship and patriotism. Holding up monkeys on a string was a nice touch or picturing Obama as a 19th century witch doctor. I was at two Palin rallies in Pa. they made George Wallace rallies look like a hand holding Kumbaya session.
From 1950 through 1980 US family incomes for 90% of society increased by 100% and savings increased to almost 20% of earnings. The top 10 % of earners increased by 35% since 1980 the bottom 90 % has seen a 10% increase and the top 10 % a 285% increase the largest disparity in US history. The US government and the graduated income tax supported the poor and middle class and it led to the greatest middle class expansion and elimination of poverty in US history in the booming days of the 40s,50s,60s and 70s the top 10% of earners averaged a 65% tax payment. Starting in the 80s upper rates dropped into the 50s,40s and 30s and the middle class went down the drain. When top brackets and capital gains are low investments are made in stocks and bonds are speculative in nature and create bubbles creating virtually no jobs. When top brackets and capital gains are reasonably high long term capital investments are made and jobs are created. The policies you advocate have never in US history spurred economic growth for the poor and middle class. When the market is tanking you reduce top brackets and capital gains to increase market investment and stabilization of the financial sector when it becomes long term national policy it creates incredible disparity of wealth and a contracting economy.
One thing that can be said for sure about our president, he isn't saying accurate things in his speeches. The question is, is he deliberately lying or is he simply uninformed? Either way, he doesn't make a positive impression!
And the economy continues to sink as we get further and further into debt!
Democrats in congress should increase their person responsibilities and promote the jobs plan going forward, than to focus on President Obama's popularity. Doing the righteous thing is not always popular. Getting voters to the voting booth will be the difference in 2012. Voters let the President down in 2010 and we are seeing the negative resultant consequences. If voters don't step up in 2012, things will only get worse.
detada....Seriously...Obama has not even announced the particulars of his "jobs plan"...What if his plan is more of the spend what we don't have mentality of the past three years?
Voters let the President down in 2010 and we are seeing the negative resultant consequences.
So where is your allegiance... with a Nation or with a man? No one let this President down...we don't work to make him better he is supposed to work to make this Nation stronger.....He simply has not done that and needs to be a one and done President. Let those who are serious about America run the country not some weak suit that will go crying to the masses when someone challenges his approach. If that means those running as Democrats have to distance themselves then the DNC should take the cue and run someone to oppose Obama in their Primary.
They are supposed to "promote" what "jobs plan"??? The president hasn't even announced his latest plan and won't, unless his nationally televised campaign advertisement next week...you know, the one where he gets a half-hour's worth of free advertising by the networks !
If Hillary was smart she would challenge him. I bet she would get the nomination easily.
I would really be interested to see the results of polling for Hillary vs Perry and Hillary vs Romney. Anyone want to wager whether it would be better than what President Obama is polling against them?
Seriously detada, do you think the President will be able to get a plan which features the same stimulus as 2009 past his own party in an election year? These guys care about their own backsides more than Obama's. They know it will be a hard seel.
JC....I don't know that Hillary would be the option...she has not had a terrific showing in her current capacity... I think Joe Biden should run for the nomination....not because I like Joe Biden but because he must have the confidence of the Democrats who place such a huge stock in their VP candidates.
I certainly wouldn't take your bet....I think Nancy Pelosi would poll higher than Obama against either Perry or Romney...I don't think she would poll higher than Perry or Romney but certainly higher than Obama does.
Txmom, you said it and hit the nail on the head. Why people are still willing to hold onto a sinking ship with horrible results, I'll never understand. I am a moderate on most issues and a fiscal conservative. I am always willing to lean Dem or Repub. depending on the situation. Right now, I will put my faith in the next Repub. It's always a gamble but I never bet on a proven LOSER..
Oh puleeeze! Joe Biden...Nancy Pelosi? I'm gonna barf! Neither of them know when to keep their mouths shut so they don't show how stupid they really are.
Having said that, I wish the Repubs had a better field that what currently is "running". We don't need any more lawyers or politicians.
JC... sorry I didn't make my basic point clear....I don't think that Nancy would be a viable candidate but given that the basic Obama supporter is probably also fond of Nancy I think she would have a better showing against Perry or Romney then Obama at this time...not by much but a better showing none the less.
In all seriousness I do wish the DNC would bring in a "viable" candidate to challenge Obama for the primary. It would actually serve the nation for them to do this...Democrats who are reticent to identify with this President, Independents who probably have the best interest of America at heart and Republicans who wish to see what our Candidates are truly about.
Ha,Ha, detdata thinks the "jobs plan" (a.k.a. more "stimulus" spending) is the "righteous" thing.
How about just doing the right thing for once(financial responsibility)?
Is it responsible to lay off hundreds of thousands of government employees during a recession? Is it responsible to stifle already low demand by decreasing jobs and reducing wages? When will you Repub/T-baggers learn that the one and only "job creator" is consumer DEMAND...PERIOD! Rich people DON"T create jobs...DEMAND creates jobs!
Perhaps you don't really understand the problem. Existing companies/products are not what will get the country back to work. It will be the new companies and new products (from existing companies) and expansion that will do it. And, that will require investment capital, which investors are unwilling to invest right now because of the uncertainty in the marketplace. Nobody is going to risk their money unless there is a reasonable likelihood that they will see a reasonable return on their investment. Would you invest $1 million if you had a 50/50 chance of losing it and only a potential 5% profit if it does succeed? Not highly likely - you can make that much just keeping it in the bank, without the risk. If on the other hand, you had the potential to make a 25% ROI, then you might take the risk. So, if you were the government, what do you think you could do that might make it more likely that investors would see a return?
Some philanthropists do invest money solely for the purpose of providing jobs. However, that is not the norm. Most people invest their money because they want to make more money.
You make my point for me...thank you. The only certainty in the market is consumer demand. Right now that doesn't exist. Ask yourself why there is declining consumer demand...and please don't get into a national debt spin. The national debt is not the issue. It's all about consumer demand, facilitated by consumer confidence.
The market isn't concerned about tax rates, currently at 15% maximum on dividends. The market is not concerned about the national debt, that's the government's problem not investors. The market is concerned about the market...and if demand continues to decline, that there will be no market. But don't listen to me or those concerned about jobs and wages. I'm sure Wall Street has the flexibility to divest of American stocks and investments and focus on international trade...oh wait...the international market is in worse shape than we are.
let see, vote for McCain in the last election, vote for any of the field of Repubs running to date, would rather slide down a 50 foot razor blade naked
Joe Biden = F-Bomb. Failed previous Presidential Campaigns, including in his Home State (home state newspapers "Draft Dodger, 6 times: 5 Student Deferments (F for Plagerizing/Cheating), 1 Medical (bought from a known Anti War Doctor for $20,000) that would make him too sick to hold any Public Office").
Nancy Pelosi = "Clean the Swamp" (only way she could do that is by jumping in the dumpster). She could not even get her Home State of California straightened out.
Hillary Clinton = possible, only if, she is purposely screwing up US Foreign Policy to make President Obama look bad, so that she can run for President, if not, bad choice based on her performance as SOS.
The Repugnants not a factor, as President Obama has $1 Billion USDs of Unlimited Corporate Campaign Contributions from the Insurance Industry, Medical Device Industry, and Pharmaceuticals Industry to crush the Repugnants. Not to mention "Mr. Corporate America" is his Buddy.
Ol_Doc - Is it responsible to lay off hundreds of thousands of government employees during a recession?
Hint: US Military are considered as Government Employees, as well as DOD Civilians.
April 2009 President Obama's Defense Budget Cuts of the USAF* and USN^.
*Loss of 95,000 High Tech US Civilian Manufacturing Jobs. Not including the USAF Personnel.
^Loss of US Jobs, maintaining one USN Aircraft Carrier Group (with aircraft, support ships and submarines). Not including US Labor Union Dock Workers, Dry Dock Workers, Skilled Workers (Machinists, Electrical Engineers, Electricians, Metal Fabricators, etc.). Not including the USN Personnel.
Upcoming announced President Obama Reduction In Forces of US Military of 27,000 (kicked to the curb to Unemployment) along with the US Civilians that support the 27,000 directly and indirectly equals xxx,xxx US Civilian Jobs Lost.
The proper way to reduce the government workforce is through retirement. As people leave, do not fill them again. Minimum staffing levels need to be set for each agency/department and no hiring should occur until the attrition drops below that level.
The exception to that general rule would be those agencies/departments/programs that are deemed to be no-longer-viable. In those instances, they would be shut down and the workers would be laid off with preference when jobs become available in other agencies/departments.
The important thing is to define achievable goals and reasonable approaches to reach them. Demagoging the effort does nothing but make the process more difficult and does nothing to improve the situation.
The government is spending WAY more than it is taking in. It has to be dealt with somehow.
No surprise here. Obama's incompetence is becoming apparent to more and more folks every day. While I am not a member of the Tea Party, it clearly represents many in the middle class who are disturbed by the Obama agenda and the downward economic slide it has us on. He clearly is not able to lead the nation and only seems to be able to fly around the country giving pep talks at staged Town Hall meeting. We would have been a lot better off with Hiliary.
Peter17, Many of the Middle Class are very disturbed with the Republicans and Tea Party. They are not worried at all by OBama. This article is from New Jersey... HELLO. Christie. Ya right.
Indy, you do not speak for me and I am in the middle class. I am disturbed by his inability to lead, his failed attempts at job creation and his unwillingness to accept the responsibility. He will not even censor his fellow dems who are way offbase. I live in the heartland not NJ<>
The GOP was just blindsided. 'Private Sector' Romney and 'Texas Miracle' Perry must present their economic plans at the GOP debate OR look like they have no idea what to do. It will be difficult to snipe at Obama while they are defending their 'on the record' economic plans.
The President of the United States just set the agenda for the Republican debate - on his terms.
The President of the United States just set the agenda for the Republican debate - on his terms.
You certainly have a right to see it that way. I don't happen to...I think the President actually tried to obstruct the Republican debate which is a rather important part of the election process. It wasn't a blindside because well the unreasonable request was handled with a reasonable response. I wonder if the President is allowed to put his advisers in "time out" when a stupid campaign stunt goes awry? I would think he could have a very sturdy stool and corner in the White House that would accommodate that end.
What is sad is that Obama and his Admins have become predictably repetitive... Every time the term "bipartisan" is read off of a teleprompter it is followed by some very self-serving attempt to divide our nation.
I am sure they will use the same speech writer as Obama and just wing it with a teleprompter. You did one thing right, you grouped all of the 3 stooges together.
The debate vs jobs speech was just a ploy by Mr. Obama. Jockeying for position. Just another political p^ssing contest. One which Mr. Obama is losing. He know full well he wanted to pre-empt the debate. Dun dun dun, badah baduh, dun dun dun dun dunnnnnnnnnnnn - I am watching football.
You were the second lib on this thread to state that this article is from New Jersey. I didn't know what the hell you were talking about, so I re-read it; nope, no reference to New Jersey. Then it hit me, are you referring to the"NJ" in the article byline? If so, that doesn't mean New Jersey; it stands for National Journal, the DC outfit that published the article. Oh my, my..........
obama giving a "JOBS" speech? This grunt doesn"t know what a job is as he has never had one. And, he's preformance on the one he's working on now is verily adequate.
Spider, thanks for pointing that out. I was getting ready to do the same. It's clear that the libs are very good at reading comprehension. The just blindly parrot what they hear.
Yawn, excuse me if I am not excited by another Obama jobs speech which features the same spending program as in 2009. Does anyone have any NEW ideas. We are supposed to do the same things as the 2009 stimulus but expect different results. Obama doesn't need a political staff, he need a group of used car salesmen to sell this lemon.
Peter17, I am not a Dem but I would understand a vote for Hillary. The woman works very hard. She seems to stick to issues and does not snipe at others who disagree with her politics. She's from the "old school" and has a grace about her. Obama is a political sniper. He was suppose to be a President for ALL the people. He lied about that.
I voted for Hilary, I doubt very seriously if she would have done any better, I don't like Odumbo the pussy either. BUT----------------- I will not vote for the repubs or Tea Party, which are one and the same. The repubs would have done the same to Hilary. They don't like women anymore than they do blacks. I use to be a repub all my life. Now I'm independent. I don't know who I'm going to vote for but you can bet it won't be the repubs/TP. I might sit this one out. And that will be a first, for me not to show up and vote. If Odumbo had shown some backbone from the very beginning. Then maybe I would vote for him. I voted for Ron Paul the first time But he has gone to far to the TP. I just can't see myself voting for any of them, they all suck. Plain and simple
First off, nowhere does the Tea Party represent the middle class. Second, if the president's speech focuses on fixing bridges, roads, schools , etc...what is wrong with that? They need to be fixed. There are lots of people out of work who could fix them. Borrowing is practically free. The priavet sector can't do it without the government.
What would you think about having people that are capable of working, that are currently receiving unemployment, doing the work to fix the bridges, roads, schools, etc.?
JC - depends on if they are qualified to do construction or not. Sorry but I don't want an out of work secretary or even painter, building a road or a bridge I have to travel on without the proper training to do so. If you want to train them first fine, but if not, I'd rather the trained professionals do the work (and there are plenty in the contstruction industry who are available for it right now) than just any random person who happens to be unemployed.
JC you bad "cute" comeback aside because of course construction workers don't work and are overpaid...wouldn't the painter and the secretary then be better served if they stayed home and looked for jobs that could use them instead of doing nothing on the side of the road while simultaneously doing nothing to get a job they are trained for? Face it, the idea that you throw unemployed people into roadwork just cause they "should be doing something" doesn't actually work when you try to apply it...assuming of course you want infrastructure that is properly built rather than just a way to denigrate people who are out of work.
Out of work construction workers should get the jobs, not people who have no clue what they are doing.
The whole point is that throwing money at construction projects will not have the effect that people think it will, because of the secretary and the painter. The bulk of the construction workers that are out of work build houses, not roads and bridges.
The only person suggesting unqualified people do the construction is YOU in trying to say that the unemployed should be doing the roadwork. Throwing money at construction projects will not "have the effect that people think it will" ONLY if we go with your crazy suggestion of making people do the construction that should be done by qualified people. I.e. making the secretary and painter do the work.
However if the infrastructure contracts are given to actual construction companies that then have a guaranteed need for labor for the duration of the contract...that allows those private companies/municipalities to provide jobs. And I get that "all government jobs are bad" but the fact is that the infrastructure of this country is CRUMBLING and needs to be repaired if we want any kind of successful country in the future. It would allow those employees to start buying things again and put the money where it needs to be creating demand through purchases.
Have you seen any current polling. Obama looks like the most popular guy at the party when compared to anyone else and GOP and Tea Party popularity in Congress has fallen through the floor. GOP in general poll below 25% and TeaParty 28% the GOP has a 60% unfavorable 14 points worse than the Dems, Cantor and Boehner have fallen 23 points with enormous unfavorables.
The President isn't responsible for job creation. That's what Congress is supposed to do. Remember how all the GOP members of Congress were elected based on the promise of job creation? You probably voted for a GOP candidate based on that promise. WHERE ARE THE JOBS YOU PROMISED, GOP? Sorry, but pointing fingers at Obama is not a substitute for action.
Peter17 - Shoulda, coulda, woulda...don't should on me. We have what we have, so live with it. Democrats made a choice three years ago to nominate Obama over Clinton because they felt Clinton had too much baggage to convince Independents to vote for her. If everyone would HONESTLY put Obama up against any of the Republican candidates, the only one who comes close to beating him in 2012 is Mitt Romney (based purely on credentials, not hyperbole). And guess what, the GOP isn't going to nominate Romney because they really don't like his brand of religion and they really don't like the Mass. Health Care system. You put up any of the other extremists in the GOP against Obama next year, and he wins.
incompetence....a neat word to use against our president..yet we have today 550 politicans in congress who are much worse than Obama could ever be ..and most have been in their office for way too many years. Yet..it is only Obama who is showing incompetence. We have 550 politicans who have gotten NOTHING done except argue amonst themselves....we truly need a change...but lets start with the 550 who are a total waste of tax payer money...who tell you one thing and take lobbyist money with the both hands. If we want to see real change in our government we voters have to force it..we have to stop lobbyist..cut out all lobbyist funding for anything..stop all favors for lobbyist from costing the tax payers money as they all do today. Take a close look at what your congress is worth money wise...how many are millionaires..how many have huge interest in every bill that they pass that makes themselves money...that alone will or should tell you all just who your "honest" politicans are looking out for...and that includes all those running for office of president today.
let's see. you say that democrats are running away from President Obama ??? will they vote republican and elect bachmann, perry or romney president ??? will they stay home in 2012 and allow repukes to take control of government like they did during the mid-terms ??? the answer is HELL NO !!! THIS NATION CANNOT AFFORD ANOTHER IDIOT REPUBliCAN PRESIDENT !!! and if Americans have learned anything in the past 3 yrs it's that the GOP is not the least bit interested in creating jobs or helping the less fortunate among us !!! they don't care about women's right or the elderly !!! they don't give a crap about people suffering through natural disasters !!! they don't even care about the education of our youth !!! THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT PRESERVING TAX CUTS FOR THE WEALTHY AND DE-REGULATION SO THAT CORPORATIONS CAN EXPLOIT THEIR WORKERS, EXPORT JOBS, POLLUTE OUR AIR AND WATER !!!
The GOP has only been in control of the house for LESS than a year. Before that it was all Democrat all the time. To get ANYTHING they wanted all they had to do was sweet talk THREE Republicans. They had a clear path to "prove" they could benefit the country. Maybe that was the problem; no one to pass the buck to. Did anything valuable get passed? No, because the Democrats are as bad as the Republicans. It is not about the country or even their districts. It is who do I have to bamboozle to keep my job for a few more years. They are all just a bunch of whorzz who will do anything fortheir own personal income.
TEXANA: Your party made a conscious decison from the moment Obama was elected, they would challenge anything and everthing he proposed, EVEN PROGRAMS REPUBLICANS HAD PREVIOUSLY SUPPORTED!
Things like the "Individual Mandate" for health care which was a REPUBLICAN IDEA, even way before Mitt Romney enacted it in Massachusetts. Whatcha gonna do if Romney is your nominee? How will you explain away "Romney Care"???
if Americans have learned anything in the past 3 yrs it's that the GOP is not the least bit interested in creating jobs or helping the less fortunate among us
Really, what do you think
THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT PRESERVING TAX CUTS FOR THE WEALTHY AND DE-REGULATION
This does? It is the tax code and regulation that is keeping businesses fromn expanding and the economy from growing and both go hand in hand.
He's been listening to Mr. Obama rail against "the rich" and "corporate jet owners" for way too long !!!
Class warfare, baby...class warfare. The cheap politician running the show lives and breathes that stuff and some of the slime simply has to stick with the president's supporters.
Hey smith, have you seen the Rasmussen poll today. Seems that both Romney and Perry are in front of Obama now. Don't hold your breathe on that "HELL NO"!
Hey smith 1 , How is 9.2% UNEMPLOYMENT, open borders, S&P downgrade, $14 + trillion debt, 2-3 wars and the first President with "illegals" for relatives WORKING for you?!
how many times did you vote for that ass hole bush ??? twice ??? let me enlighten you about your "hero" !!! he took a 300 billion dollars Clinton surplus and turned it into a 1.3 trillion dollar debt !!! how ??? cutting taxes for the wealthy, starting two unfunded wars, not funding MEDICARE PART D, bailing out his Wall Street buddies with TARP, not allowing the Medicare system to negotiate with big Pharma for best prices and last but not least letting PAYGO expire in 2002 !!! in fact, that moron bush is directly responsible for half of our current 14 trillion dollar debt because all of these unfunded programs(including the wars) are ongoing !!! now , how many times did you vote for that idiot ???
P.S. do you know any of this history or do you just watch fox news ???
smith 1: You do know that Clinton had an all republican house and senate, right? That all he did was sign whatever legislation they passed, right? That Clinton did not create the surplus, right?
Clinton was an excellent leader. His personal life left a bit to be desired, but the man is a leader. Unlike Obama.
read your own email and see how bad the last one looked. You said he caused a 1.3 trillion dollar debt then later say he is responsible for half of the total national debt. How does your math work????? LOL I would say if he only spent 1.3 in 8 year but Obama has spent 3.0 trillion in tow years you may want to think about what you said. LOL Go back to school for some math classes.
the last laugh will come when President Obama is re-elected in 2012 !!! and keep in mind that the demographics of our nation are changing rapidly !!! in 15 to 20 years half our population will be of color(Blacks, Hispanics and Asians) and in 30 to 35 years people of color will be the majority !!! at that point, "whites" will never be able to elect to the Presidency another conservative white moron like perry, bachmann or romney !!! it also means that the House will have a "colored" majority and the Senate will be split !!! and our President will either be a Black, a Hispanic or a liberal white !!! so, enjoy this time because THE POLITICAL END IS NEAR FOR YOU !!!
smith 1 - he took a 300 billion dollars Clinton surplus and turned it into a 1.3 trillion dollar debt !!!
*smith 1your own Party the Democratic National Committee (DNC) says that you are FOS (Full Of Sh!t).
Again smith 1your own party, the DNC, is saying you are FOS.
Who do you think invests money to either start Businesses or loan money to Businesses. YOU !!!! LOL !!!!!
Because of the Demoncrap stated, "Tax the Rich", "Rich Pay Their Fair Share" they f**king fled the US and started to invest their money at Nations with a lower Tax Rate than 35% (not including Local, City, State Taxes and Licenses).
1998 H.R.4655 (with US Congressional Appropriations), the Declaration of War With Iraq, 2002 Iraqi War Resolution (with US Congressional Appropriations). The counterpart US Laws (with US Congressional Appropriations) for Afghanistan. FACT: Iraq and Afghanistan 100% Legal (US Laws with US Congressional Appropriations) AND started Long BEFORE Bush (Operations and Missions my men, women, myself were involved with).
What The F**k US Law (with US Congressional Appropriations) does President Obama have to cover his arse for Libya (proof he Violated US Law, the 1973 War Powers Resolution, if the US Law was after the first US Military Actions). He also violated his Documented Verbal Contract (Campaign Promise) that he would not use Discretionary Spending. FACT: 100% Illegal (NO US Laws with US Congressional Appropriations). As President Obama's Illegal, Unfunded, War Criminal, War at Libya supporting Fundamentalist Islam (see their draft Constitution (Sharia Law)).
smith 1 - bailing out his Wall Street buddies with TARP,
Wrong the Democraptic Party Controlled US Congress had to pass the November December 2008 Troubled Asset Relief Program as "Time Sensitive" (No Public Scrutiny) just in time to buy the January 2009 Electoral College Votes (the Main Reason along with Gerrymandering that the Electoral College MUST be eliminated).
smith 1 - not allowing the Medicare system to negotiate with big Pharma for best prices and last but not least letting PAYGO expire in 2002 !!!
Minor baloney. As stated by President Obama, Face the Nation, September 2009, The Insurance Companies that manage Medicare are padding their costs to make profits of $17 Billion to $18 Billion USDs per year at the US Taxpayers expense. And President Obama did nothing about this by reporting this as Fraud against the US Citizens, nor was this problem addressed in the Health Care Reform that actually rewarded the Insurance Corporations with $67 Billion USDs and Mandatory Purchase of Insurance (more new suckers to be placed into the High Risk Unaffordable Premium Category along with those that cannot afford Insurance resulting in more money for the Insurance Corporations at the expense of the US Citizens and US Taxpayers.)
smith 1 - in fact, that moron bush is directly responsible for half of our current 14 trillion dollar debt because all of these unfunded programs(including the wars) are ongoing !!! now , how many times did you vote for that idiot ???
And WHAT THE F**K DID YOU HIRE President Obama to do ? Sit around saying "Present" again and not fix SH!T.
As the Commander In Chief, at anytime he can Order an Immediate Withdrawal, and let the Bureaucrats at the Pentagon do the Paperwork after the Fact, and then send his B!tch Sh!t On a Shingle (SOS) Clinton on an Apology Tour with the Governments of Iraq and Afghanistan.
smith 1 - P.S. do you know any of this history or do you just watch fox news ???
The only thing you are watching, since you obviously have no knowledge of History nor Current Events, is Sponge Bob Square Pants.
Do you like this smith 1: President Obama 8====>o smith 1
Although you seem to think that everyone is as racist as you are, it just simply isn't true. Your absurd belief that people's skin color somehow determines whether they are liberal or conservative is perhaps the most laughable and pathetic thing I've heard on this board - and that's really saying something.
I'm sure this will come as a shock to you, but there are conservatives and liberals of every color, gender, creed, religion, size, weight, eye color, sexual preference, financial level, location, etc.
And, it is incredibly insulting of you to suggest that all these people will only vote for people based on their race rather than choosing the person that they think will do the best job. If you ever want to see a real racist, I recommend you look in a mirror.
The utter ignorance of your statements is beyond belief.
most blacks are democrats and most Hispanics are democrats except for those f*cking cubans !!! these are the two constituencies that will grow the fastest and determine our political future !!! and I doubt that(from your asinine post) that you know many blacks other than UNCLE TOMS LIKE CLARENCE THOMAS, ALAN KEYS AND THAT ASS HOLE WEST FROM FLORIDA !!! and you certainly don't know people like me who will look you in the eye and tell you that YOU'RE FULL OF SH*T !!!
After someone is already in office for three years, it will not be an effective campaign to try and present one's self as a more middle- of the road and less ideological candidate. Before 2008 that might have worked because he did not have ANY kind of record that could be tied to him. Now, however, the Independents and middle-of-the-roaders know what to expect. I personally do not like Perry, having seen what he does. But, he is less of a threat than Obama. So if need be, if Perry DOES get the nomination, he will get my vote. The lesser of two evils.
No way would I ever Vote for Perry. UGH. Another Bush. No freaking way. Anyone from Texas is just Morons. History has proven this. Let Mexico have Texas back.
Indy, that is foolish. Obama has proven he is not interested in the welfare of the US. "History has proven THIS"!! And Mexico could never get us back. We won independence from them with out the "help" of the US Government.
TEXANA: Still employing that favorite tactic of the Right, impuning the patriotism of your political enemies??? In what way does Obama not show interest in the Welfare of this nation, cause you disagree with his policies that makes him unpatriotic???
As for your indepence, secede please, I'm begging you guys and take Alabam, Mississippi and the rest of the hateful, intolerant and macho states with you. We'll get along just fine, I promise you.
President Obama just engaged the GOP in a political fight - on his terms. Obama just set the agenda for the Republican debate and controlled the timing. The GOP candidates go 'on record' first - they will be on the defensive from the beginning.
'Private Sector' Romney and 'Texas Miracle' Perry must present rational economic plans during the debate OR appear to not have any idea what to do.
The GOP controlled the political fight over the debt limit. So far, President Obama is controlling the political fight over the economy and jobs.
Actually Nerm, Boehner will announce his jobs legislationg on Sept 15. So it looks he just took the initiative back from Obama. Here's what will happen, Boehner's bill will pass the house and the Reid will not bring it to a vote in the Senate. Then Obama and Reid will yell and yell that the GOP has not plans to help create jobs but they do. And then you and all the lemming lefties will scream day in and day out where are the jobs GOP, but ignore the fact that the senate will not vote on any bills passed in the house.
Nerm, yes Obama did what he wanted. Instead of attacking each other, those Republicans will all attack Obama. Boy, Barack has them right where he wants them. His approval will drop to 25% then his big finish.
Indy: "Anyone from Texas is just Morons. History has proven this. Let Mexico have Texas back."
The Mexicans don't want Texas, they all want to come here because we have all kinds of hand outs......free education, free food, free housing, and we'll even send you a welfare check, especially if you have alot of kids. No wonder Obama has so much support.
No way would I ever Vote for Perry. UGH. Another Bush. No freaking way. Anyone from Texas is just Morons. History has proven this. Let Mexico have Texas back.
While I'm not from Texas, I do find it amusing someone from Michigan can look down on any other state. How many billions has the rest of the country had to pump into Michigan companies to bail them out? And the current unemployment and poverty rates are still out of control. We could probably come close to balancing the budget by simply cutting off Michigan from the welfare nipple.
We certainly do not want a Republican in office. We would be in the worst DEPRESSION Ever. God Forbid. I would take OBama 10 times over any crazy Republican candidate. Look what Bush did to America? My GOD... it's amazing we are still surviving as a country. END the 2 WARS NOW. It's not our problem or charge these countries if they want us there.
GARY: In case you don't know, Michigan has been beset with a multitude of problems for many, many years which have caused high unemployement and poverty rates. There's not magic pill to cure it in the short term.
Stop being blinded by party lines. Obama has only shifted troops from Iraq to Afghanistan and got us involved in a NEW conflict that is sure to bite us in the butt (Libya). If you want to stop wars vote for Ron Paul, he is the only one serious about it. Obama is not going to piss off GE who is one of the largest war profiteers because is just so happens they are also one of Obama's biggest campaign donors. Sorry, but I know a sellout when I see one.
Obama is a Wall Street backed hypocrite like most so called leaders in this country, "Republicans and Democrats!" The bankers and their CEOs continue to get huge amounts of bonuses, while the working class Americans struggle with high gas prices, groceries, and health insurance that keeps going up. It's all about bickering between one another and no solution to what helps the middle working class in this country. The thing we need to do is like Iceland; kick the bankers out and start over and take our country back!
What different or new solution for the unemployment problem do the Democrats have? Just a recycling of the 2009 big spending stimulus with a promise that it will work this time.
Has anyone bothered to look at who this Democratic spending stimulus is targeted for? Can you say Unions, teachers, inner city minorities. Get some money to the campaign donors in time to get some donations for the campaign.
Here is a President doing everything he can without the help of the republicans and barely with the support of democrats who are afraid of their own shadows. Just like in november, if you stupid dems stay home, you deserve what you will get with the repukes. If they stand up and back and support the President, he can accomplish something for everyone. Republicans backed GW when he told them the sun was shining in stormy weather.
He does not want support, he wants a rubber stamp for all of his idiotic ideologies. He had that under Nancy Pelosi, you see how terrible things became then.
navyvet98, I really beleive the liberals can't see this. They believe that every thing obama has done is great and good, regardless of it's out come and if it turns out bad, it's not obama's fault, it's eveyone or every thing else's fault.
terry, if the Democrats are going to repeat their mistakes and failures of the last two years. Where is it written that the Republicans need to join in? If you are going to repeat the same stimulus spending which was a failure at creating jobs, why should the Republicans back it and expect different results like the Democrats.
Obama needs to search deep for his democratic principles, and stop compromising to no purpose. There is a time to negotiate, and a time to stand on your principles and do what you believe is right.
If his message appears to be that he will cave into everything the Republicans want, then he does not provide any reason for him to be in the white house. There are fundamental issues this country needs to work thru for the 2012 elections, and he is not speaking for 'his' side of the story. If he truly believes that deficit spending cuts are more important than job creation, then his is just as out of touch as the Republicans.
If he can not defend, and promote, the Democrat platform, then he should step aside and let Hillary do it.
terry - Of course they are not going to help Obama with his socialist policies, that is why we elected them in 2010. If they chose to be yes-men for Obama rather than representing the U.S. voters they would be no better than Obama himself.
sigh. obama lost the battle, the fight and the war when he turned belly-up on the public option for the health care bill. the republicans have run over him like he is road kill since then. if obama would of just once said no to the republicans i would vote for him again. so far the republicans have set the agenda, and he has followed along like he is one of them. obama went from talking more stimulus money to create jobs to slashing spending to the bone because that is what the republicans wanted. medicare, social security and medicare are on the table. what is not on the table are new revenues of any kind. i am sick of obama and terrified of what will be left standing in this country if he is re-elected. perhaps a statue in the rose garden of ronald reagan, that seems to be his hero. fool me once shame on you. fool me twice shame on me.
There is a time to negotiate, and a time to stand on your principles and do what you believe is right.
But I thought that the Tea Party affiliated members of the House were castigated for standing by their principles. Are you saying that our Representatives should actually do what their constituents elected them to do? Like they did?
JC - the tea-party members were castigated because they said from the get go that they will not compromise. They were castigated because that was their starting position despite the fact that the only way a republic funcitons is with compromise. Despite the fact that the INTENT OF THE FOUNDERS was that people with different views compromise together for the good of the nation.
One always needs to start open to compromise but there comes a time, once the opposing party has made clear that all they want is your destruction, where the time for compromise is over. If the tea-party members had actually tried to do the job they were sent there to do and not just obstruct from the get go, they might not have been taken to task. But the fact is they did not go to DC to get the job done, they went to DC with the express intention of making sure the job did not get done so they could get rid of the president.
That is a falsehood. They went there with the express intent to reduce spending and to fight for fiscal responsibility in government.
Tell me honestly. What is the compromise between SPEND and DON'T SPEND? Only spend a little? No. That is still spending. When you have diametrically opposed ideas, there is sometimes no room for compromise.
However, there are only about 50 or so Tea Party affiliated Representatives in the House. They are incapable of stopping any bi-partisan legislation, which is, in fact, exactly what happened. Non-Tea Party Republicans and Democrats reached an agreement and passed it without the support of the Tea Party Representatives. They could have done that at any time.
To suggest that they were somehow responsible for anything is simply absurd. They do not have the numbers.
However, I have no doubt that the non-Tea Party Representatives heard an earful from their constituents. And, I'm sure they are probably worried about their re-election for going against what they were hearing.
No McConnell was very clear that their goal was to make Obama a one-term president and said so where the whole nation could hear. I think it was an oddly candid moment of truth from the GOP. Here to refresh your memory are his comments from the day after the 2010 election:
They all campaigned on "jobs" but have yet to produce any jobs bill, it was all a farce designed to bring about precisely what McConnell said the day after the election.
As for what they could compromise on, well for starters the tax breaks and loopholes that they refuse to close. The idea that the debt can go away with just cuts is INSANE. If my household didn't have enough coming in I would do everything in my power to fix that...meaning taking all options on the table....as in cutting spending AND getting an additional job. The fact that the GOP simply refuses to use all the options at its disposal to fix the crisis that they themselves said was pressing gives the impression that they really aren't that worried about the "crisis" since they aren't doing all they can to fix it.

Not sure why my comment doubled up in the post above. Sorry for that. Or why the link did not post. Tried again the first time I posted this and it still didn't show up.
Please tell me that you are not so naive as to believe that it is not always the goal of the opposition party to limit the President to a single term. Surely you do not believe that the Democrats weren't working on keeping President Bush from a second term from day one. Especially when they felt that he "stole" the election in the first place.
The only difference between McConnell and the other political leaders is that he said it out loud.
terry-1494169 - Here is a President doing everything he can without the help of the republicans and barely with the support of democrats who are afraid of their own shadows.
US Economy: Reinstate the US Laws that made Illegal the Causes of the previous 1907 Depression, 1929-1939 Depression and the current $60-100 Trillion USD "Global Economic Crisis" consistng of the "Mortgage Crisis", "Wall Street Crisis", "Financial Crisis", "Banking Crisis", "Credit Crisis", etc.. The alternative (President Obama doing Nothing) is a $54.6 Trillion USD "Crisis" of a possible $643 Trillion USDs that will trigger a Depression worse than the Global Great Depression.
US Jobs: Replace the current Free Trade Agreements and Amendments with Fair Trade Agreements and Amendments, and revoke the President Clinton "Most Favored Trade Nation Status" for China until they stop devaluing their currency.
Conduct a larger scale version of President Eisenhower's Operation Wetback to apprehend and deport the over 23 Million Illegal Aliens that are currently occupying the "Low pay", "McJobs", "No benefits", "Entry Level" Jobs that were previously occupied by the Children of US Citizens; Unemployment this category is 56%. As the Illegal Aliens do not fill out Employer Paperwork (Income Tax Withholding (as felony criminal tax evasion), deductions for Social Security, deductions for Medical Dental Vision Insurance, etc.), and bring their families to the US to lessen their expenses by having US Taxpayer paid Public Assistance. A larger scale version of Operation Wetback would allow the US to secure the US Borders using Federal Active US Military returning from the Wars, instead of kicking these US Military to the curb on unemployment. The Illegal Aliens are currently taking over the US Labor Union Construction Jobs (defeating President Obama's proposed Jobs Bill).
Eliminate the hundred million overpaid expensive US Civilians from the US Military and replace all of them with cheaper US Military Personnel, this will Cut the US Defense Budget by 50%. This will allow the US Military to remain Capable.
Institute President FDR's Universal Health Care for All US Citizens, by eliminating the Insurance Corporations from the Medical Profession, especially the Insurance Companies that manage Medicare, that are padding their costs to make profits of $17 Billion to $18 Billion each year at the US Taxpayer expense. The cost for each US Citizen would be $50 USDs per month for Unlimited Medical Treatments. This is what the life long advocate of Health Care, Senator Kennedy (RIP) wanted.
US Congress must put back the US Taxpayers Money stolen by US Congress back into the US Citizen Contributory Fund of Social Security.
Elimination of the Federal Reserve, all responsibility goes away from the Private Banks of the Federal Reserve to the US Department of Treasury and responsible to US Congress.
Elimination of the Electoral College. "The average Citizen is too ignorant to determine the Highest Offices of the Land, President and Vice President" - arguement for the establishment of the Electoral College by the Founding Fathers. This would make our "Popular" Vote determine the US President and Vice President. The arguement of the Electoral College is negated by Gerrymandering.
Get the US out of the United Nations, then the United Nations cannot use the US Military as their own UN Military B!tches. examples: Iraq: UN Misson, Nation Building. Afghanistan: UN Mission Nation Building. Upcoming: Libya, Nation Building.
Stop chasing the Businesses out of the US:
The new tax havens American companies are finding new overseas tax havens to legally protect some of their profits from the U.S. tax rate of 35 percent*, among the highest in the world. Lesley Stahl reports.
*Does not include the Local, City, State Taxes and Licenses.
This is the same as saying "Tax the Rich", "Rich Pay Their Fair Share" chasing the Foreign Investors, and US Investors out of the US. No investors, no loans to US Businesses = No Businesses = No Jobs.
If we can get at least a 100 Million US Citizens to email the US President and US Congress (Both Houses), just like the over 23 Million Illegal Aliens that Demonstrated against the US Congress passing the President Bush 2006 Illegal Alien Act, maybe they will do something for the US Citizens.
Like it or not regardless of Political Party the above measures Historically Worked, under Identical Conditions.
What President Obama is proposing as a Jobs Bill, is almost identical to the President FDR "New Deal to the American People" which failed miserably, spent money no one had, and is already defeated as the Illegal Aliens are moving into the US Labor Union Construction Jobs. To get the US out of the Great Depression, after the Failure of the "New Deal To the American People", President FDR: Nationalized US Industry, Suspended US Labor Union Activities, sold the War Materials of the US Nationalized Industry to England from 1939-1941 (before US Entry into WWII), Universal Health Care For All US Citizens (Healthy Productive US Citizens, More money for US Citizens to spend, No money for Insurance Corporations). World War II being the final event that got the US completely out of the Great Depression.
After everyone chased the Foreign Investors and US Investors out of the US with their "Tax the Rich", "Rich Pay Their Fair Share". Resulting in the Foreign and US Investors going overseas to locations with 6-9% Tax Rates instead of the US 35% (not counting Local, City, State Taxes and Licenses. the link at post#1.6.).
So when that happened all the US Businesses are not Reinvesting, not Hiring, and hanging on to money to bail themselves out or as a "Rainy Day" Fund.
"Tax Incentives", "Tax Credits" If you do not understand this. How about this, you need money today for necessities (food to barely survive), I tell you "tax credits", "tax incentives" at the end of the year (not today)(and if I change my mind, I break my promise, and you get nothing that you planned to get.). Do you understand now.
terry-1494169, so what of the above has President Obama accomplished.
If you even say Health Care Reform:
Do you want me to start to post all the things that President Obama and his Policies did to f**k up decades of my men's, women's, work at Iraq, Afghanistan, Redacted, Egypt, Somalia, Pakistan, Redacted, Redacted, Turkey, Redacted, South and Central Americas, etc.. Since you like what he did it is your turn, in less than 1.5 years we will be "Too Old" to be recalled involuntarily to US Military Active Duty to fix all the President Obama screw ups.
So does this mean that the DNC might allow us to see some other Democratic candidates? What will our choices be come 2012? Perry or Four More Years? I will have a hard time going for either one of those. Give me None of the Above on the ballot and I guarantee I will vote. Otherwise, give me the choice of a good and qualified candidate or I will sit this one out. No more voting for the lesser of two losers.
hell, give Perry a chance he would jump parties, he has before twice! That is a good question though, why don't we have more options on the ballot, they only give us option A or B, what about C, D, or E (None of the above)
Terry did you have your head up your but for the first two years of the obama administration when the democrats controlled the presidency, the House of Representatives and the Senate, in other words the democrats controlled the whole Federal Government.
Everything that obama and the democratic controlled congress did not work. Now that the republicans control only the House of Representatives which is only 1/3 of the Federal government you want to blame the republicans for the failure of president obama.
Awwwwww jon, what happened to all your crowing about the "schelacking" and how the republicans were going to save the day? Back tracking on that I see.
If the president comes out strong in next weeks speech. Tells the people what his plan is and not a watered down plan to try and get republican support ( which he never will). He just might fire up his base. They want a president that fights for what he wants. He has to realize the Republicans will not support anything he says no matter if its good for the country or not. The republicans have been running for the presidency since January of 2009. They want him to fail at all costs.
true and I would love to see him come out for his speech, call out Boehner and the GOTP, flip them both birds and say here I F'n come boys and girls...
Yes his 40th or 50th speech on the economy will work this time. Propose the same spending as in 2009 and all of America will just get fired up. His base is 20%-25% of Americans. Who else are they voting for? He is down to only 30% of independents think he is doing a acceptable job. Disapproval is up to 72% of white male voters. His base is not who he needs to worry about. He is getting killed everywhere but his base. The problems is the majority of those men will not be watching with the first NFL game on at the same time.
I doubt most of his base will be watching either. Half of them will more than likely be in front of their Nintendo consoles...... or heading to the frat party.....
These early polls have no predictive value at all.
As the Republicans go through their primaries, it will be obvious that regardless of who is the nominee, they won't stand a chance vs. Obama in the General.
In Obama's favor:
1. No contested primary 2. Incumbency 3. No third-party candidate 4. Major domestic-policy changes in his first term 5. No social unrest 6. No major scandals 7. No major foreign-policy failures 8. Major foreign-policy achievements in his first term (killing Bin Laden) 9. Little charisma by his likely opponent
yeah I like how their front runner has not even participated in anything yet. Once they hear Perry talk and stumble they will be looking for a new one...
1. No contested primary - Should be clinton 2. Incumbency - First and final term 3. No third-party candidate - This would be the only way he gets a second term 4. Major domestic-policy changes in his first term - All failures 5. No social unrest - Not yet, but the Dems/Liberals and the CBC are working on this. More to come next year 6. No major scandals - Time will tell 7. No major foreign-policy failures - See #4 8. Major foreign-policy achievements in his first term (killing Bin Laden) - Lost most of the mid east to terrorists. Watch Egypt and Libya 9. Little charisma by his likely opponent
Hate to destroy your dream there. But most political experts say that no third party candidate hurts Obama. Those most likely to run as an independent this time(Palin or Paul) would divide the republican vote.
So, are you saying "The Buck Stops....... anywhere before President Obama"?
Can you explain how it is that President Obama is only "directly responsible" for the positive things that happen on his watch (Osama Bin Laden) but not those things that are negative?
And, ask yourself this, if the program would have somehow magically worked, would he have taken credit for taking down the Cartel's gun running operations? Or, would he have said he had nothing to do with it?
I'm sticking with what I know, and I know what Obama's doing or trying to do. He keeps us well informed. And about these polls? They never poll the side of town where my Irish butt resides. They know better.
Black Panther goons and Holders unwillingness to prosecute..The whole ATF scandal...Suing Arizona over immigration...No major scandals eh, just because he did not get caught with a woman in Oval office ( like old Billy did) does not mean he is clean as a whistle...He has alienated his own party now..Good luck Dems...:)
8. Major foreign-policy achievements in his first term (killing Bin Laden)
More BULLSH!T, since when did he get his arse on a MH-60, MH-47, MH-6 at Bagram AFB wearing stereoscopic night vision goggles.
President Obama distancing himself from the US Military Mission to Pakistan, until the US Military Leadership and US Intelligence Leadership Forced him to acknowledge authorize and accept the Special Reconnaissance Mission would proceed regardless of what he said, or they would reveil some things that would kill his Political Career. The Special Reconnaissance Mission turned into a Direct Action Mission after confirmation that OBL was actually there (since no one could confirm OBL was there).
So when he took too long and actually froze, Leon Penetta had to order the termination of Osama Bin Laden.
Most Presidents going far back distance themselves from US Military Missions in case of failure, to save their Political Career and the Office of the President. Credible Deniability.
This is what also happened with Rescue of the Captain R. Phillips of the Maersk Alabama at Somalia. So that if the Mission Failed the On Scene Commander (OSC, at the USS Bainbridge) and the USN SEAL Team Commander would hang. Even during this Mission, President Obama froze up, so the USN SEAL Team Commander had to order the Kills as "Imminate Danger"* to by pass President Obama.
*we used to used "Imminate Danger" to bypass the waiting for days, weeks, months for US Policitians to make up their minds. Knowing that if the Mission Failed the US Politicians would hang us for "Exceeding Authority".
Now a days we cover our arses against the US Politicians by keeping detailed notes, mission videos, all electronic communications recorded, etc..
As far as his Foreign Policies:
Do you want me to start to post all the things that President Obama and his Policies did to f**k up decades of my men's, women's, work at Iraq, Afghanistan, Redacted, Egypt, Somalia, Pakistan, Redacted, Redacted, Turkey, Redacted, South and Central Americas, etc.. Since you like what he did it is your turn, in less than 1.5 years we will be "Too Old" to be recalled involuntarily to US Military Active Duty to fix all the President Obama screw ups.
To bite you in the arse at the Gas Pumps, how about the Loss of the Northern Iraqis and Southern Iraqis Oil Fields to the Allies of Fundamentalist Islamic Iran, the Chinese and Russian Federation. This made the Libyan Oil of Strategic Importance to the US European Allies, and the Oil from Saudi Arabia to the US, going to the US European Allies instead of the US. And the Libyan "Rebels" (Al Quada Saudi Arabia (AQ), Al Quada Yemen (AQY), Al Quada Arabian Pennesula (AQAP), Al Quada Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), Al Quada Syria (AQS), Hezbollah, the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), etc.) selling the Libyan Oil to Fundamentalist Islamic Iran's Ally Qatar and Qatar selling the Libyan Rebel Oil to the other Fundamentalist Islamic Iranian Ally, the Chinese.
King of Saudi Arabia, 2011, "President Obama gave Iraq to Iran on a Golden Platter". So now US Ally Saudi Arabia has enemies to the North (Iraq), South (Yemen*), West (Egypt*), East (Fundamentalist Islamic Iran).
*Former US Allies Overthrown during the President Obama "Arab Spring". With those doing the Overthrowing being the Muslim Brotherhood at Egypt (backed by Fundamentalist Islamic Iran, made deals with Muslim Brotherhood to access the Suez Canal), Yemen Overthrown by Al Quada Yemen and the others at the "Terrorist", "Jihadist" Training Camps at Yemen (backed by Fundamentalist Islamic Iran) due to US Support of the President of Yemen ceasing under President Obama.
AND FYI The Mission here (Afghanistan) has always been: 1. Eliminate the Fundamentalist Islamic Taliban., 2. UN Mission, Nation Building to rebuild the 1950s to 1970s Little America Afghanistan., 3. Terminate Osama Bin Laden after President Bush ammended^ the US No Assassination Policy to allow the termination of Osama Bin Laden*.
*President Clinton refused to allow the US Military Asymmetric Warfare Teams that were shadowing him to terminate OBL after President Clinton refused Saudi Arabian Extradiction to the US after the 1993 First World Trade Center Bombing so the Saudi Arabians let OBL go.
^Harvard International Review, Assassination Policy Under International Law, May 6, 2006:
These Democrats want to be re-elected too. They can't stand beside the big loser and look like a winner. (Guilt by association)
My advice to them is to change the packaging of what they are trying to sell. You cant label crap as crap and expect people to buy it. Get rid of the name DEMOCRAT (synonomous with Idiot). maybe call it the Spend Party?? No, sorry, the Invest Party. There, that sounds a little better.
If the house is divided, then the other house will win. It is the strategies of the other house to stir up the problems to set themselves to win.
The Democrats should know better how the strategies to work, e.g. "Divide and Conquer".
And they need to make sure to come together to get President Obama to win the election 2012. And they should put aside all their greediness/welfare to help him to win.
Otherwise, the GOP will win; the suffer will be the Main Street of America. The budget bill drama has spelled out very clear that the GOP will not work for the main street, but only the Corporate people.
Now all GOP presidential candidates are working for corporate, please do track their records. And some of them are pro-China trade, and they are going to hurt the America more. The techie and skilled are going across the Pacific to other nations.
When we vote this year, we need to do our research, such as which party refuses to raise the tax for the rich, even when the rich is willing to help the government.
Let me get this straight. Democrats don't want corporations and businesses to succeed but they do want them to create more jobs. Why can't I see that logic?
because you are only willing to look at your small narrow perspective. " more jobs" would indicate some jobs have been created. in this case the phrase "more jobs" is an oxymoron.
The Democrats had better distance themselves from Obama if they want to keep their job, and for that matter, Wall Street too! Obama clearly shows who he is listening to, "Timothy Geithner, Hillary Clinton, Bill Daley, and Joe Biden!" The working class only is seeing price increases, increase in wars, more jobs shipped overseas since he's been in office, just like George W, and Bill Clinton. Facts hurts people that support this so called President.
Dems, if you want to get reelected run as far and as fast as you can from anything having to do with Obama. In fact, I suggest you start a movement within your party to stop Obama's desire to continue deficit spending, debt building and refusal to work towards a balanced budget. If you didn't get that message in the Nov 2010 elections you better hear it now. Dems, you should be pushing for a serious candidate to run against Obama in the primaries. The voters are just not believing Obama's lip service any more. O1 N Done. Don't go down with him.
That would require the Dems to act responsibly. Ain't gonna happen. Besides, it's a little late for them to get religion now. Think November 2010 was a shellacking?? Just watch November 2012.
Best thing the Dem congressmen and women can do right now is get their resumes in the mail. Get a real job lined up, cause they're gonna need it.
Pauly, he did not mention that because is is blatenly false. The Dems lost in 2010 because of the liberal agenda and the indendents don't want any more of it.
Wrong advice, it was running away from President Obama that ended up losing Congressional elections. Running away is cowardice, and those Democrats who want to run away instead of embracing, proposing and taking the fight to the people don't deserve election. We recovered from the Great Depression, and we can recover from the Great Conservative Recession (soon to become the Second Great Depression brougth on by the Republicans).
OK have it your way. All the Dems should embrace Obama and his policies/practices and then we can get rid of him and them all at once. Great plan Pauly and dis. I hope they follow through with it then we will begin to see some real positive change instead of the lip service we are getting from Obama.
Obama and the Liberal Progressives movement in this country is OVER. The Independents which swing all elections are DONE with the far Left Agenda. They will vote with their wallets. Since 2006 and the Congress was controlled by liberal Progressives their 401K's and there Homes have lost 30-40% of there valve. Thats why the 2010 election was so One Sides. With 23 Dem Senators up in 2012 you can expect the Senate to go Republican along with the House and the Presidency. The Liberal Progressives have destroyed this economy with their Failed Keynesian policy's. And People want Major changes, not the "Hope & Change " BS that is destroying America
Terry - Congress has been controlled by the conservatives since President Ronald Reagan. Conservatives have trashed America and continue to hold to their policies that will bankrupt the nation.
Ray W. Learn how your government works. A veto proof majority? You have no idea what it takes to override a presidential veto do you? And please do tell, why would the democrats need a "veto proof" anything in 2009-2010? LOL Your ignorance is showing.
The 2010 was not so much a Tea Party landslide as a loss of enthusiasm for the weak kneed Democrats, including a President who conceded major positions before even starting negotiations. The problem is that President Obama concedes before compromise, so much that compromise is nothing but concession. We live in a competitive political system and you can't win by concession before you start. The independents will not back someone who doesn't demonstrate courage of their convictions, and I would expect another sitout in 2012.
I voted for Obama in 2008, but probably won't in 2012. He's been a great disappointment. I seek leadership in a president, as I'm sure many Americans do. Obama is highly deficient in that arena. He has conceded a lot to the Republicans before even contemplating compromise. A recent case in point: the rescheduling of his jobs speech to the day after the Republican primary debate. Here's the play-by-play: The president initially tried to pre-empt the debate, then immediately backed down after someone of lower political stature (Boehner) suggested that he do so. This is not leadership. Leadership sometimes requires making unpopular decisions. Where's his sense of "fight" and conviction? He doesn't have any or has been ill advised by his inner circle. I'll probably sit out the 2012 elections (since I also don't support any of the Republican nominees at this time), and I certainly will not campaign for him or any politician, for that matter, who has consistently demonstrated a lack of leadership. He needs to step up to the plate if he wants to have even a fraction of a chance to garner the same level of support he had behind him in 2008. I'm sure many, many (former) supporters feel as I do. His low poll numbers reflect not only the disapproval of the right (which one would expect), but also substantial disapproval by those on the left and center. His very, very low percentage of approval couldn't be explained otherwise. This does not bode well at all for his chances of reelection, unless he changes the game plan substantially between now and then.
This is the most honest article involving politics that I have ever read on MSNBC. Democrats will have a better chance getting re-elected if they run in places like - China, The Middle East or Venezuela. Obama and his Democratic congress almost succeeded in destroying the US. This was always at the top of his agenda from the beginning. How to govern without checks and balances. Our Constitution does not allow this dictator style approach and apparently, neither do the people.
Robert, it is the continuing of conservative policies that are destroying America. Conservatism is a cancer that has been growing since President Ronald Reagan and is the cause of our nation's problems. President Obama is hardly a dictator since he is too willing to be practical (meaning don't try progressive policies because the conservatives will oppose them). I don't see any conservative diatribes against President Obama as honest or having any credance. Don't disparage the patriotism of the progressives who are seeing the conservative cancer destroy America. The conservatives are exactly what they label President Obama and liberals. Thank goodness for the liberal values of our founding fathers.
dls, maybe you ought to check a candidate's experience before pushing him into office on ideological grounds. Why is it such a surprise when a guy with zero experience turns out to be a lousy President.
being dismissed as astroturf and an angry mob, now just a memory. bam bam and his puppet libs now refer to us as extreme racists, hostage taking terrorists, who should all go straight to H_ll for wanting to lynch minorities.
is there any wonder why people are distancing themselves from this maniac, and his loving subjects?
mark my words. after cleaning up the republican party, we will scrub the democratic party of filth. finally, we shall reduce the executive powers back to their original limits.
the perverse liberal cancer will be removed, and the Republic will be restored.
The perverse cancer is conservative. We need a liberal treatment to save America. The American people, at least enough of them, will stop trying to treat this conservative cancer with a conservative asprin.
dls, your group is dwindling, and was never much to begin with. The Tea Party is millions, and growing. last November was but a small example of our power. we are not going to suffer the foolish failure of wealth redistribution under the guise of compassion any longer.
your great experiment is now exposed for the hoax it always was.
it failed throughout history, and will not proceed any furtherhere. your philosophy has many definitions, many names, and many faces. but the ultimate flag you march under is red. it will no longer be tolerated here.
a valiant attempt Sir, but the evil is now in the light, and its ugliness is profound.
mitch - take another look, the evil is conservatism. The wealth distribution from the middle class to the rich has taken place and we shall right this injustice. What has failed through history is the injustice of the rich and powerful maintaining their oppulence. Just ask Khadafi. It was the people who rose up, and your defense of the conservative elite and their lackeys will not stand the test of history. Time to end the Tea Party Tyranny and corruption. Time for an American Spring.
dls, a Gallup poll in 2008 said American voters were 42% conservative and 23% liberal with 25% independent. This country is now and always has been a center right country. The only way a far left candidate has a chance is when the conservative base stays away as during 2008. When that base is energize you get what happened in 2010. So do you think that base will stay away in 2012?
Does the truth hurt? Only if you cannot stand the truth as you desperately try to paint the world with your backward brush! Either you are a cooperating American or you are a traitor.
In Asymmetric Warfare it does not take very many "Insurgents" to start a Civil War. A few hundred Insurgents to get hundreds of thousands to fight for the Insurgents.
So once again "This Administration Does Not Know What It Is Doing":
Overthrew a former US Ally, that Cooperated with US to get the Bush Era Sanctions, Embargoes, etc. lifted so that he could sell Libyan Oil to the US European Allies. Gaddaffi: a. Turned over WMDs to US., b. Cooperated against Al Quada., c. Collaborated with CIA., d. Instituted Human Rights and Women's Rights (Women's Rights inflamed the Islamic World) as praised by the UN and African Union*., e. Just before the "Revolution" (Insurrection), Gaddaffi's Military going after Al Quada (AQ, AQY, AQS, AQAP, AQIM, etc.), Hezbollah, and the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) at Libya (really pissed off the Islamic World).
*Libyan Citizen Rights for Libyan Citizens, not Illegal Aliens^, Migrant Workers^, Foreign Workers^, Foreigners^, etc.^. Including subsidized Gasoline for $0.33 per liter, bread for $0.15, free education anywhere in the world +2500 Euros per month, vehicles sold at factory cost, 25% of Libyan Citizens had College Educations (to be killed as Gaddaffi supporters), Free Medical Dental Vision, Students paid the same amount as the profession they are studying for, Libya no Debts to anyone, Loans to Libyan Citizens with no Interest, Unemployment paid at the full salary, no beggars or homeless (until now), new married couples given an apartment or house for free.
^The other "Rebels". Just like the over 23 Million Illegal Aliens (Loyal Citizens of another Nation, work for money so they can live like Kings when they return Home (not the US).) at the US demanding US Citizen's Rights, US Taxpayer Paid Public Assistance, Free Medical, Free Education, Free Food, Free Housing, Press #1 for Espanol Press #2 for Gringo (Besame el culo), Free Lawyers thru US Taxpayer Funded La Raza, Formation of their own Nation of Aztlan, etc.. And President Obama bending the US Citizens over (to get f**ked) to accommodate the Illegal Aliens*.
*Associated Press, August 10, 2009, President Obama's Intent to Legalize the over 23 Million Illegal Aliens at the US. And President Obama's US Policy, "US Military will not be used to secure US Borders" - President Obama (April 2009 and August 2009).
So now:
US has to worry that (you go and fix the below):
a. Al Quada (AQ, AQY, AQS, AQAP, AQIM, etc.), Hezbollah, and the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) have spread the missing 20,000 shoulder launched Anti Aircraft Missiles (SA-7s) world wide to shoot down commercial airliners worldwide.
b. The loss of control of all the weapons seized by the "Rebels".
c. Libya becoming a Fundamentalist Islamic Iranian Puppet. With closer striking distance to US European Allies, just like Egypt now closer to US Ally Israel (that is keeping the Hamas Foreign Fighters, Hezbollah, etc. off of the US Military's Backs at Iraq and Afghanistan).
d. The further increase of Fundamentalist Islamic Iran's "Sphere of Influence" (US = Great Satan).
e. Loss of Libyan Oil that used to go to the US European Allies to the Fundamentalist Islamic Iranian Allies (Chinese and Russian Federation).
f. UN Mission Libya, Nation Building. Like Iraq, Afghanistan, US Pays Billions each year to rebuild Libya.
g. Etc..
Face the Fact, Ivory Tower Academic President Obama meets the Real World, equals Failure.
Those Dems can bite me. The strength of the Republicans is not their positions, its that they stick together like glue to each other. Come on you babies. Get behind Obama or get out of office.
Running away at the first sight of confrontation is cowardice. The conservatives have been calling Democrats cowards a long time, and it shows because instead of bailing the boat, Democrats always abandon ship like rats. I don't like what I see in the party that embraces cowardice as pragmatism; and I intent to fight like hell against the Tea Party Republicans and for a return to progressive moral and political values that are the foundation of our nation.
Social mood directs the markets, economy, politics, culture. A president who takes office during improving social mood witnesses a rising stock market and a better economy. Then he is credited for doing a good job. He is likely to get a second term. A president who is in office during a bear market bears the burden of negative social mood. He looses office after first term. Here is how social mood writes the history:
www.tradingstocks.net/html/socionomics.html
We are riding a wave of decline in social mood that resulted in a bear market. Bear markets have a way of tarnishing the image of those at the helm. Had Obama been the president during a bull market, he would have been hailed as the great savior.
Today's problems are not because of what we are doing today, but they are because of what we did for the last 50 years. Folks, there is not much Obama, Bernanke or anybody can do about it.
Government does not have a magic stick to swing and change the world. We have borrowed for 50 years and spent and inflated prices and salaries along with it. When the pay back time arrives, it is not reasonable to expect that all will be fine. An entire generation borrowed from the future. We are doing the same. When the future arrives, we will pay it back. There is no way out of it. This is a mathematical reality.
Typical liberal whining. You should all pay attention to Odumbo's job speech. I can fix it! I'll throw more money we dont have at it.
Spend, Spend, Spend
We got rid of Osama and alot of his pals.
Things could be alot worse.
Raymond, well said. I do think he is not equipped to run the country, but he has not run the country any where near collapse.
Nerm,
Nerm,
Nobody is going to expect the GOP candidates to layout an economic recovery plan in the two (2) minutes they have to answer questions (as opposed to the 30 - 60 minutes the President will have). Furthermore, unless the moderators asks "What is your plan for economic recovery?", they will more than likely respond to the questions that are asked. Will they talk about it in a broad manner, yes - I'm certain they will. But it is not an appropriate forum to provide an specific details.
I think your analysis misses the mark on this one.
banner, the president is using a dribble glass and it is leaking from the bottom.
terriels - you do realize that the Executive and Legislative branches are co-equals, right? President Obama cannot just tell Speaker Boehner to "go to heck".
Is there enough distance in America? They may have to campaign from Japan if they want to avoid Obama's aura.
pjam - I bet there are a lot of Democrats that wish there were more shuttle missions scheduled for next year...... then they could campaign from the space station......
The declining poll numbers reflect a culmination of broken promises, caving, lack of change and more business as usual.
"Could they possibly choose anyone worse?"
Yes...the fools who voted for Obama the first time could very well vote for him again....but it doesn't appear to be so.
how amusing, people with 13% approval ratings "distancing" themselves from 40% approval ratings.
You call the "wacky pack" republican debates useful? Hmmm, Do you believe in God, guns, abortion, anti-gay, anti union and corporate tax cuts? - You're in!!! I'm a Christian and I get ill watching them debate.
Hey, when I was 17 years old, at least I knew how to get a date for the senior prom.
Whats wrong with this Obama?
How socially incompetent an you get?
Wow Road Warrior...cut the guy some slack. He did stop the flow of guns to drug lords in Mexico...oh....wait....
Well said.
Eric -
When are you going to realize that Obama is his own worst enemy?
Just how narcissistic can an individual be!?!
I doubt Obama will be reelected..but I know its not going to be any republican that's for sure as president in 2012 election.
Anyone who has been paying attention will distance themselves from Obama unless they suffer from the same brand of fiscal dyslexia.
Tammy,
Why would anyone care what your co-workers say? Seriously. Who are your co-workers that anyone would care about their opinions?
Especially when they believe idiotic notions that never happened like President Obama wanting to postpone the NFL opener.
If you want to bitch about the president, that's fine. But don't make stuff up to be upset about.
How about because they are citizens who can vote and pay taxes to support our government?
Even if I think someone is wrong if they are a citizen and pay taxes their opinion matters.
Just sayin'.
Are you KIDDING?!?!?!?!
The President of the United States wants Congress to focus on JOBS for Americans, at a time when there are MILLIONS out of work?!?!?!
Doesn't he know that Republican politicians have something more important to do that day? Why that will cut into their tailgate party time!
Maybe if we let those political hacks eat potato chips and drink beer during the President's address they wouldn't mind so much.
As if Republicans cared about JOBS in the first place!
OK, let's look at them;
"A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 45% of Likely U.S. Voters would vote for their district’s Republican congressional candidate, while 36% would choose the Democrat instead. That gap is up three points from last week"
As for Obama, here are his figures;
And if there is some improvement between now an Nov 2012, they will change their minds again..
I love the liberals who keep screaming "Where are the jobs?!?!" like it's the Republican's faults.
Perhaps you should ask good old Reid why he won't bring the job creating bills up for a vote.....ELEVEN of them are stuck in the Senate.
http://majorityleader.gov/JobsTracker/
Gharms
Thanks for the link - I'll use it.
Yep. I did not nor as of right now would I vote for President Obama, but I have not found anyone I would vote for on the republican side either.
Dragon, here's the thing, Obama is like a ship going under. First thing anyone who wants to survive has to do is get away as far as possible so when the ship goes under it does not suck you down with it. A vote for a shoe would be better then a vote for Obama.
Gary,
Thank you. I am voting for the shoe.
Uh, Dragon, you need to read my comment at 1.9. It will give you a much needed dose of reality.
Snow - Romney would be a much better choice than a shoe.
Snow, yes we know you would vote for someone else but Karl Marx and Chairman Mao are both dead.
Snow - folks like you got us this current congress! Vote, period. It's real simple, vote your best interest not some damn ideology...
The guys they talk about don't even sound like real Dems. And it sounds like they're in districts that are on the fence anyway. Regardless, what are these guys gonna do if the economy turns around? Flip-flop again. These aren't the kind of candidates I'd vote for...
You are EXACTLY RIGHT Dragon. Obama will win in 2012 because the country will not embrace the alternative.
@ Acoustictherapy
Acoustic,
You have got to tell us where to purchase a crystal ball like yours........ since he wasn't voted in we will never know whether he would have done a better or worse job than President Obama.
President Obama is " UNBEATABLE "
Or we'll distance him from his seat in congress.
The alternative will not be a pretty sight.
Seems like even the most hard core democrats, wearing rose colored glasses, are beginning to see that the emperor has no clothes.
Yes democrats, somethings are true regardless of if you believe it or not.. and Obama is a complete failure (sad but true
Once Perry wins the nomination, Obama should hammer him until he explains to all Americans why Social security is bad.
Perry just passed Obama in the latest poll. Not too shocking that dems are bailing on him.

Bob, this is from the bottom of the poll??? What? it looks like they sell you the full information of the poll?
Get a real poll not some some poll for money. Who did they ask? we don't know?
Additional information from this survey and a full demographic breakdown are available to Platinum Members only.
Wait till he gets to the whole public and starts explaining why Social Security is bad.
The Democratic rats are starting to abandon a sinking Obama ship..........
Will the party start telling candidates in swing districts that it's alright to distance themselves from Obama in 2012, like they did with Pelosi in 2010?
Ron Paul is the man!
Former Obama supporter.
Rasmussen? What a joke
The Neutral polls show otherwise.

You may be right about Republicans, but you are dead wrong about independents.
I've always said if you voted for him just because he was Black..Your just as racist as someone who did not vote for him just because he was Black..Get it...:)
I've always said a penny saved is a penny earned.
I didn't make it up though.
Every time (almost no exceptions) that there has been a Demoncrap and not a Repugnant, there have been a Cut to the Bone Reduction In Forces (RIF) of the US Military.
Are you Volunteering YOUR areas US Military for President Obama's already announced RIF of 27,000. If not you should, that would "back up" President Obama's Policies. If not you are a Hypocrite (do as I say, not as I do):
LetMeExplain,
The article is about the Demoncraps abandoning the Obama Titanic.
Not about your cut and paste blame the other guy (Repugnant), finger pointing, false rhetoric and Democrap Party Line.
Explain how the Democraptic Party can fix their own Problems. As Solutions NOT lame Excuses.
David,
The article is about democrats in sensitive districts / areas distancing themselves from the president to try and hang on to their jobs.
That will not happen as these Missions are UN Missions, Nation Building. For this to stop would require the US to get out of the United Nations.
By sheer numbers of US Military Forces, US Military Bases, Membership money, etc. the US is NATO. Because of everything committed by the US to NATO, as proof, the Commander of NATO is usually a US Military General or Admiral, as SACEUR.
Did you ever have High School Civics, as to why there is a Senate, House of Representatives as the Legislative Branch, the Executive Branch, the Judical Branch. YOU REALLY NEED TO FIGURE THAT OUT, especially from the Historical Perspective. The knowlege gained by your own research will be more respected by you, than my spoon feeding you.
btone,
I know, just look at Alan O.-3429365, trying to blame that on the Repugnants.
This is what also happened with Rescue of the Captain at Somalia.
add to post#2.39.
Third reason we have a sh!tty attitude (the US Military made our hobbies into our job).
add to post#2.43.
TNRebel-4016842,
Something I took for granted ever since the US Military Training Teams to US Ally Iraq.
If you think that's bad, imagine how horrible it will be if people actually elect Perry and he keeps his campaign promise to choke off the money supply, thus triggering the Second Great Depression.
Perry would make Bush's recession look like the good old days.
That's the plan.
And it seems to be working.
Could not vote for him in '08, will not in '12!
This isn't difficult. The rats are abandoning a sinking ship.
Ray - do you get the same visual that I do..... the stern of the Titanic sticking out of the water with people desperately trying not to fall off?
Yeah, if Democrats like these would really rather have the Tea Party menace in full power then I guess they'll have to completley go over to the Dark Side to get anything done!! Scary indeed!!
It is a very sad comment on America the quality, should I say total lack thereof, of candidates we have to chose from, from either party.
The American middle class won't take much more of supporting the rich and corporations.
While Republicans can temporarily rejoice in Obama's approval numbers, please remember that the approval numbers of Boehner and the House are lower than Obama's.
That's one man's POV, Ray W., but then, again...it takes one to know one.
Eric,
President Obama isn't running against Boehner or the House.
Obama is one of the worst Presidents of our time 8(
I am middle class here in California and his party is in control and look where that has gotten us
I am so god damn broke it ridiculous how much more of this @!$%# can we take.
Higher taxation under Clinton created surpluses and fostered the greatest economy in U.S. history.
FACT!!!!
Bush budget for 2001 1.9 trillion, last budget until October 2009 3.2 trillion.
1.3 trillion added to the budget under Bush. 600 billion added to the budget under Obama for 2 years, and next year .500 trillion.
Who was the big spender? Were you on here protesting what Bush was doing?
NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! But somehow blame the black guy.
That spending.... you mean the spending after Lehman's collapse when we were on the precipice of the abyss and the financial system was on the verge of collapse after 8 years of a Republican who inherited surpluses.
Is that the spending you're referring to?
Don't forget, the surplus you refer to was from a Republican congress in the late '90s.
We were on the precipe of the abyss after a Democratic Congress in 2007 & 2008.
I don't remember any Dems rushing to introduce legislation in 2007 to prevent an oncoming collapse, so don't blame it all on Bush. And the Dems played the Healthcare fiddle all during 2009 & 2010 while the jobs market slowly burned. They payed the price for that in the 2010 elections. The President may pay the price for it in 2012.
From the NY Times........
The U.S. budget situation has deteriorated significantly since 2001, when the CBO forecast average annual surpluses of approximately $850 billion from 2009–2012. The average deficit forecast in each of those years as of June 2009 was approximately $1,215 billion. The New York Times analyzed this roughly $2 trillion "swing," separating the causes into four major categories along with their share:
The article states that "President Obama’s agenda ... is responsible for only a sliver of the deficits", but that he "...does not have a realistic plan for reducing the deficit..."
Looks to me that Obama is responsible for (20%+10%) or nearly as much as Bush is. That's a pretty big sliver.
Rob,
That is idiocy the Whitehouse has directed the economy since the start of the Republic. It is only this current group of power mad lunatics who have tried to hamstring any economic recovery in order to defeat Obama just ask Mitch McConnell.
jkh
I doubt if you can name one other president in US history with the possible exception of half of the Clinton Administration if so please do so.
jkh
.
Rob,
Please name the legislation that was passed by the democratic congress in 2007 and 2008 that caused the collapse.
Also, the republicans had the WH and the congress from 2000 -2006. What legislation did they introduce to prevent the collapse?
Trying to pin the this mess on the democratic congress of 2007 and 2008 is disingenuous and obscene.
alex cali,
I call bullsh!t to your adjusted numbers.
And yes, President Bush did nothing to stop the "Global Economic Crisis"; however, knowing the Cause, this did not really start until after President Obama actually was sworn into Office (many in Power behind the scenes had no faith in him, the same sh!tbags that caused the "Global Economic Crisis".).
btone, Jim Hayes-375865, alex cali,
What the F**K did you hire (vote) Candidate Obama for.
JC, Obama is running against Republican policies no matter where they exist.
Middle America won't support privatizing medicare, dismantling social security, further cuts without raises in revenues.
Furthermore, the Republican social conservative positions won't wash with independents. Good luck in trying to win the Presidency.
It is a very sad commentary on the Republican Party anyway.
Not to mention the American electorate for not demanding better.
Let's face it, everyone would laugh at him if he ran on his record and espoused how well the country is doing, all thanks to him standing up for the little people.
witch...
Bush.
Very bush.
Leona , you wouldn't know an "anti private sector business agenda" if it walked up and slapped you in the face. You are however flawless at parroting.
When will you guys realize that Bush has been out of office for years?
Shellie - are you suggesting that this administration is somehow "pro-business"? You must be kidding. What exactly is it that you think they have done to help private sector businesses? Threaten Cap and Trade to drive up the price of energy? Nope. That wouldn't be it. Add thousands of new regulations? Nope. Don't think that's it either. Perhaps you could enlighten us......
President Obama is certainly pro-business. Just look at the record profits...oh, and stop watching faux nooze...
ozzie boy: You must be very young.
Think about it.
Witchypoo,
You need to actually read US electoral history and not some graphic novel.

Witchy Pas Deaux,
From 1950 through 1980 US family incomes for 90% of society increased by 100% and savings increased to almost 20% of earnings.

Ozzie Boy-2719086, tony-268769 - "Mommy mommy Bush sh!t and pissed his pants so I have to sh!t and piss my pants too".
Translation: I actually thought that the Demoncraps were supposed to be better than the Repugnants. Oh, well, another misperception.
One thing that can be said for sure about our president, he isn't saying accurate things in his speeches. The question is, is he deliberately lying or is he simply uninformed? Either way, he doesn't make a positive impression!
And the economy continues to sink as we get further and further into debt!
And if they abandon President Obama and kowtow to the likes of Mitch McConnell and John Boehner, they're gonna get creamed.
So where is your allegiance... with a Nation or with a man? No one let this President down...we don't work to make him better he is supposed to work to make this Nation stronger.....He simply has not done that and needs to be a one and done President. Let those who are serious about America run the country not some weak suit that will go crying to the masses when someone challenges his approach. If that means those running as Democrats have to distance themselves then the DNC should take the cue and run someone to oppose Obama in their Primary.
detada...
Ha,Ha, detdata thinks the "jobs plan" (a.k.a. more "stimulus" spending) is the "righteous" thing.
How about just doing the right thing for once(financial responsibility)?
It's always a gamble but I never bet on a proven LOSER..
txmom,
I might buy into Biden doing better than President Obama, but Nancy? I'm sorry, that may be pushing the bounds of fantasy just a bit too far......
I don't think the wicked witch of the west would stand a chance...
"When they show you who they are...believe them!"
Ol Doc,
Perhaps you don't really understand the problem.
Heck, invest in the stock market. That's the safe place! No, put it in the bank at 1% interest and with inflation it won't take long to be ALL gone!
DO Not invest in products or any type of job creating investments cause that might allow some folks to have money to buy something! Can't do that!
Best idea, bury it in the back yard!
Sandy,
Some philanthropists do invest money solely for the purpose of providing jobs. However, that is not the norm. Most people invest their money because they want to make more money.
JC-1439099,
You make my point for me...thank you.
I'm sure Wall Street has the flexibility to divest of American stocks and investments and focus on international trade...oh wait...the international market is in worse shape than we are.
let see, vote for McCain in the last election, vote for any of the field of Repubs running to date, would rather slide down a 50 foot razor blade naked
txmom32
Ol_Doc = H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-T-E. And: FAIL.
Ol Doc,
The proper way to reduce the government workforce is through retirement.
The Tea PArty was commandeered by the Koch's of this world and anyone that says it wasn't isn't paying attention.
NermL...
Indy,
The country is in a depression, the country is on Zoloft because of Mr. Obama and the dems. Now, I do not see any reps that will change that yet.
Indy:
So where are those Republican job ideas?
Jimm,
What would you think about having people that are capable of working, that are currently receiving unemployment, doing the work to fix the bridges, roads, schools, etc.?
JC - depends on if they are qualified to do construction or not. Sorry but I don't want an out of work secretary or even painter, building a road or a bridge I have to travel on without the proper training to do so. If you want to train them first fine, but if not, I'd rather the trained professionals do the work (and there are plenty in the contstruction industry who are available for it right now) than just any random person who happens to be unemployed.
Sasha - the secretary or the painter can be one of the six that are usually standing around at most road projects watching the other one work :)
Sasha,
The whole point is that throwing money at construction projects will not have the effect that people think it will, because of the secretary and the painter. The bulk of the construction workers that are out of work build houses, not roads and bridges.
JC,
The only person suggesting unqualified people do the construction is YOU in trying to say that the unemployed should be doing the roadwork.
Peter,
Have you seen any current polling. Obama looks like the most popular guy at the party when compared to anyone else and GOP and Tea Party popularity in Congress has fallen through the floor. GOP in general poll below 25% and TeaParty 28% the GOP has a 60% unfavorable 14 points worse than the Dems, Cantor and Boehner have fallen 23 points with enormous unfavorables.
jkh
The President isn't responsible for job creation. That's what Congress is supposed to do. Remember how all the GOP members of Congress were elected based on the promise of job creation? You probably voted for a GOP candidate based on that promise. WHERE ARE THE JOBS YOU PROMISED, GOP? Sorry, but pointing fingers at Obama is not a substitute for action.
fbikerchick.."You probably voted for a GOP candidate based on that promise..."
Empty promises is what got Obama elected in the first place...:)
So what no one in the Demoncrap Party was paying attention to "Mr. Corporate America" as the main man of the Demoncraptic Party.
"Mr. Corporate America" makes the "Koch's" look like The United States versus Somalia.
incompetence....a neat word to use against our president..yet we have today 550 politicans in congress who are much worse than Obama could ever be ..and most have been in their office for way too many years.
OBAMA 2012 !!! REPORT THAT NJ !!!
smith
Really, what do you think
Hey smith 1 , How is 9.2% UNEMPLOYMENT, open borders, S&P downgrade, $14 + trillion debt, 2-3 wars and the first President with "illegals" for relatives WORKING for you?!
umm, who caused the downgrade? (hint, they run the House)
Jimm - you must be referring to the (White) House?
dear texas
how many times did you vote for that ass hole bush ??? twice ??? let me enlighten you about your "hero" !!! he took a 300 billion dollars Clinton surplus and turned it into a 1.3 trillion dollar debt !!! how ??? cutting taxes for the wealthy, starting two unfunded wars, not funding MEDICARE PART D, bailing out his Wall Street buddies with TARP, not allowing the Medicare system to negotiate with big Pharma for best prices and last but not least letting PAYGO expire in 2002 !!! in fact, that moron bush is directly responsible for half of our current 14 trillion dollar debt because all of these unfunded programs(including the wars) are ongoing !!! now , how many times did you vote for that idiot ???
P.S. do you know any of this history or do you just watch fox news ???
smith 1: You do know that Clinton had an all republican house and senate, right? That all he did was sign whatever legislation they passed, right? That Clinton did not create the surplus, right?
Clinton was an excellent leader. His personal life left a bit to be desired, but the man is a leader. Unlike Obama.
smith,
read your own email and see how bad the last one looked.
Congress wrote the bills, Congress approves the spending. Read the constitution!
to all of you repukes
the last laugh will come when President Obama is re-elected in 2012 !!! and keep in mind that the demographics of our nation are changing rapidly !!! in 15 to 20 years half our population will be of color(Blacks, Hispanics and Asians) and in 30 to 35 years people of color will be the majority !!! at that point, "whites" will never be able to elect to the Presidency another conservative white moron like perry, bachmann or romney !!! it also means that the House will have a "colored" majority and the Senate will be split !!! and our President will either be a Black, a Hispanic or a liberal white !!! so, enjoy this time because THE POLITICAL END IS NEAR FOR YOU !!!
smith 1,
dear ignorant,
Again with Bullsh!t Surpluses.
*smith 1your own Party the Democratic National Committee (DNC) says that you are FOS (Full Of Sh!t).
The only thing you are watching, since you obviously have no knowledge of History nor Current Events, is Sponge Bob Square Pants.
Do you like this smith 1: President Obama 8====>o smith 1
Smith,
Although you seem to think that everyone is as racist as you are, it just simply isn't true.
The utter ignorance of your statements is beyond belief.
dear jc
most blacks are democrats and most Hispanics are democrats except for those f*cking cubans !!! these are the two constituencies that will grow the fastest and determine our political future !!! and I doubt that(from your asinine post) that you know many blacks other than UNCLE TOMS LIKE CLARENCE THOMAS, ALAN KEYS AND THAT ASS HOLE WEST FROM FLORIDA !!! and you certainly don't know people like me who will look you in the eye and tell you that YOU'RE FULL OF SH*T !!!
Nerm - You need to cut back on the kool-aid, you have clearly passed from reality to infatuation.
Obama just embarrased himself even further by playing politics yet again, and by setting himself up to be told to go away and grow up.
Indy,
You mean like Dan Rather, Sheila Jackson Lee and Lyndon Baines Johnson? Are those some of the morons from Texas?
STL
Let me guess, the House will pass a bill eliminating all environmental regs...because that will produce about ZERO jobs.
Reid will bring it up...just like he did the Ryan budget and it will get defeated...and nothing will happen.
Wenawhile the country can see a choice between a party that talks about actual jobs and one that cuts clean air and water requirements.
Indy in Michigan, don't grenade troll please. You are suspended for a day for violating rule # 5 of the Code of Honor.
Indy, how high did the unemployment rate get in your state under the Democratic governor?
GARY: In case you don't know, Michigan has been beset with a multitude of problems for many, many years which have caused high unemployement and poverty rates. There's not magic pill to cure it in the short term.
Indy
Stop being blinded by party lines. Obama has only shifted troops from Iraq to Afghanistan and got us involved in a NEW conflict that is sure to bite us in the butt (Libya). If you want to stop wars vote for Ron Paul, he is the only one serious about it. Obama is not going to piss off GE who is one of the largest war profiteers because is just so happens they are also one of Obama's biggest campaign donors. Sorry, but I know a sellout when I see one.
Ozzie, most of the time the Democrats have been in control in Michigan when they aren't going to jail.
Ozzie - Wonderful job not answering the question. Typical obedient Dem.
Are the "free" handouts really worth the lack of self-respect?
Lack of self respect is something you know a lot about pjam.
Personal attacks are a sign of weakness in your argument...Just sayin...:)
I would think sales of running shoes would increase in DC.
Wow a good rant but empty of a solution. Nothing but great rhetoric
Ray-402; just another partisan nut job. Example like this is what is happening to America today!
What different or new solution for the unemployment problem do the Democrats have? Just a recycling of the 2009 big spending stimulus with a promise that it will work this time.
Ray W - Don't forget the preaching of "dire consequences" if the money is not handed over.
Has anyone bothered to look at who this Democratic spending stimulus is targeted for? Can you say Unions, teachers, inner city minorities. Get some money to the campaign donors in time to get some donations for the campaign.
What's wrong with this sentence from this article? Show of hands, please:
"In the Nevada race to replace Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nev., in the House,"
a multi-tasker? a senator in the house is a special position, lol
Wake up weak-kneed democratic representatives.
He does not want support, he wants a rubber stamp for all of his idiotic ideologies. He had that under Nancy Pelosi, you see how terrible things became then.
accomplish what exactly for everyone?
navyvet98, I really beleive the liberals can't see this. They believe that every thing obama has done is great and good, regardless of it's out come and if it turns out bad, it's not obama's fault, it's eveyone or every thing else's fault.
Who made you, ( sonman) the spokesperson for liberals
sonman: jobs for one you polarized to the point of stupid idiot!
terry, if the Democrats are going to repeat their mistakes and failures of the last two years.
Can anyone spell "HILLARY IN 2012"
sigh. obama lost the battle, the fight and the war when he turned belly-up on the public option for the health care bill. the republicans have run over him like he is road kill since then. if obama would of just once said no to the republicans i would vote for him again. so far the republicans have set the agenda, and he has followed along like he is one of them. obama went from talking more stimulus money to create jobs to slashing spending to the bone because that is what the republicans wanted. medicare, social security and medicare are on the table. what is not on the table are new revenues of any kind. i am sick of obama and terrified of what will be left standing in this country if he is re-elected. perhaps a statue in the rose garden of ronald reagan, that seems to be his hero. fool me once shame on you. fool me twice shame on me.
Steve,
But I thought that the Tea Party affiliated members of the House were castigated for standing by their principles.
Sasha,
That is a falsehood.

Third time:
Sasha,
Please tell me that you are not so naive as to believe that it is not always the goal of the opposition party to limit the President to a single term. Surely you do not believe that the Democrats weren't working on keeping President Bush from a second term from day one. Especially when they felt that he "stole" the election in the first place.
The only difference between McConnell and the other political leaders is that he said it out loud.
REALLY. Are you that blind.
How about this you contact:
US President: http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact
And US Congress (Both Houses): http://www.contactingthecongress.org/
And tell them to:
The new tax havens
American companies are finding new overseas tax havens to legally protect some of their profits from the U.S. tax rate of 35 percent*, among the highest in the world. Lesley Stahl reports.
*Does not include the Local, City, State Taxes and Licenses.
http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7376848n&tag=mncol;lst;1
If we had a 3rd party, That would surely give obama a second term. Lords knows that will be the only way he will get a second term. remember clinton?
Not if the third party ran an african-american.
It would split the racist vote and Obama couldn't count on getting 96% of it.
So I just have one suggetion for you, get real!
Ray,
I doubt most of his base will be watching either.
1. No contested primary
2. Incumbency
3. No third-party candidate
4. Major domestic-policy changes in his first term
5. No social unrest
6. No major scandals
7. No major foreign-policy failures
8. Major foreign-policy achievements in his first term (killing Bin Laden)
9. Little charisma by his likely opponent
yeah I like how their front runner has not even participated in anything yet. Once they hear Perry talk and stumble they will be looking for a new one...
Hate to destroy your dream there. But most political experts say that no third party candidate hurts Obama. Those most likely to run as an independent this time(Palin or Paul) would divide the republican vote.
notice how as soon as the teapubs get a new "front runner" after about the 3rd public appearance they are all looking for a new one?
Can you say "Fast and Furious".......
http://articles.latimes.com/2011/aug/30/nation/la-na-atf-guns-20110831
Ken Melson was first appointed by in May 2007 by Alberto Gonzales and has been shuffled around ever since.
This is an example of mismanagement, not a personal scandal that directly affects the President.
Nice try, though.
Re-Elect,
So, are you saying "The Buck Stops....... anywhere before President Obama"?
Can you explain how it is that President Obama is only "directly responsible" for the positive things that happen on his watch (Osama Bin Laden) but not those things that are negative?
And, ask yourself this, if the program would have somehow magically worked, would he have taken credit for taking down the Cartel's gun running operations? Or, would he have said he had nothing to do with it?
Sorry. He either IS the President or he isn't.

Something that was NEVER done with obama or he would not be the loser president today
Billie,
Can't the rich pay more than they owe voluntarily?? Of course they can.
Let me get this straight. Democrats don't want corporations and businesses to succeed but they do want them to create more jobs. Why can't I see that logic?
because you are only willing to look at your small narrow perspective. " more jobs" would indicate some jobs have been created. in this case the phrase "more jobs" is an oxymoron.
yep....the libs did their research last election. strictly by the length of the tingle up Chris Matthews leg
KinkK did you read the article? The dems that ran from him in 2010 all lost. Why can't people take the time to read the articles before they comment
KingK,
That would require the Dems to act responsibly.
Rats always desert a sinking ship.
Troll
Terry - Congress has been controlled by the conservatives since President Ronald Reagan. Conservatives have trashed America and continue to hold to their policies that will bankrupt the nation.
So dls, 2009 and 2010 were just our imagination when the Democrats had a veto proof majority in congress?
Mmm OK......?
I am sure that most people will say that since Obama has been in office they see that the economy has gotten much worse.
Robert-777154, dls-387641; your both right. Now, hopefully there will be people up for election that will challenge the status quo!
dls, maybe you ought to check a candidate's experience before pushing him into office on ideological grounds. Why is it such a surprise when a guy with zero experience turns out to be a lousy President.
Was no surprise at all from 2000-2008
being dismissed as astroturf and an angry mob, now just a memory. bam bam and his puppet libs now refer to us as extreme racists, hostage taking terrorists, who should all go straight to H_ll for wanting to lynch minorities.
is there any wonder why people are distancing themselves from this maniac, and his loving subjects?
mark my words. after cleaning up the republican party, we will scrub the democratic party of filth. finally, we shall reduce the executive powers back to their original limits.
the perverse liberal cancer will be removed, and the Republic will be restored.
TEA
Hear Hear Mitchj
You said that in a nut shell. Get rid of the RINO's first, then start working on the DEM to remove the Marxist liberals from that party.
Time for an American Spring.
dls: from each according to ability, to each according to need?
these few words are responsible for more deaths in modern history than any other ideology.
dls, a Gallup poll in 2008 said American voters were 42% conservative and 23% liberal with 25% independent. This country is now and always has been a center right country. The only way a far left candidate has a chance is when the conservative base stays away as during 2008. When that base is energize you get what happened in 2010. So do you think that base will stay away in 2012?
Wrong Ray , in 2008 you guys were running from the 21% club. that's why the fake TP was created. You twenty one percenters needed a cover.
Mitch,
Does the truth hurt? Only if you cannot stand the truth as you desperately try to paint the world with your backward brush! Either you are a cooperating American or you are a traitor.
dls-387641,

And keep using Libya as your example. To make your self look ignorant.
Forgot (Unclassified source to prove classified sources):
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/42358291/ns/world_news-mideastn_africa
I don't like what I see in the party that embraces cowardice as pragmatism; and I intent to fight like hell against the Tea Party Republicans and for a return to progressive moral and political values that are the foundation of our nation.
jan, they cant get behind him, for bam bam leads from behind!
They need to get behind obama as he is leaving office.
There won't be any goose stepping Tea Party marching into the presidency in 2012; your conservative corporate money can't buy everyone.
It sure as hell bought Obama!...LOLOL!...: )
Gadhafi - 'Let Libya burn'
Tea Party Member???
This is a mathematical reality.
summer
we are are being hammered by an inept worthless president. typical lib trying to pin and or deflect the blame.
