Now they feel better about themselves, they are motivated to purchase goods, thus stimulating the economy without government spending a cent. Government would lose those tax $$ however would not be hemorrhagic due to unemployment. The same amount of money will circulate only there will be jobs to do and people to do them.

S&P stated that due to the political climate that they did not feel the government had the ability to successfully further reduce the debt. Well, my name is Jeff -- I agreed with you that he did not prefer the CCB plan. I listened to the entire CNN interview and he said it should have been Simpson Bowles. Most medium and small companies are experiencing record amounts of accounts receivable in the range of 2 - 3 times the acceptable amount. Many have not survived this and more will go under as more parts of Obama care will become in effect.

I don't know the details of Obama's proposal, but if history repeats itself, the Republicans will all vote against it and Obama will cave. I'd rather not see an increase in the rates of tax on wage earners. I'd rather see the capital gains rates go back to 20%, remove the 0% rate for capital gains, put qualified dividends back to ordinary rates and tax hedge fund managers at ordinary rates instead of capital gains rates. That makes Wall St. pay for their part in this mess.

When Obama said stop outsourcing jobs, create them here at home, the Democrats stood up and applauded. The Republicans sat stone-faced. That should tell you everything about what the Republicans want.

EPA regulations all kill job growth

Companies have to hire people to make sure they are meeting EPA regulations. Take away the EPA, all of those jobs disappear and you increase unemployment. Do you want to increase unemployment?

Job growth comes from customers... consumer spending and demand. No company will hire "just because". If you remove the EPA, no one new will get hired. No one hires someone they do not need.

If a new small business can not figure out how to function without polluting the s#!% out of the environment, they are not smart enough to run a company anyways. If you can not figure out how to run a business without dumping all your waste and chemicals into the local river, you should not run a company. His proposals were mostly giving more money to unions. Under the guise of infrastructure rebuilding. Note the criteria, must help the economy and build more. So, who gets the contracts? Who oversees the work? Who insures that the money is actually used for its intent rather than a surface make-work while overcharging out the wazoo?

Note the tax breaks. He is giving us a $1,500. tax rebate next year, how that is going to happen exactly remains to be seen. He is giving tax credits to business to hire more people, great except that unless demand for product increases it will cost business to hire while not making more money for the business. Rather like cash for clunkers, get rid of your old car and take on the debt of a new car and no guarantee that you can afford your payments.

Unions win really big here. Unions benefited from Obamacare, teachers unions benefitted from the 1.25 billion which, oddly enough, went into democratic PACS. He is all for public sector unions, paid for with taxpayer money, they need those collective bargaining rights. Hell, even FDR was against public sector unions, he saw them as potential extortionists and banned them.

This is same-o, same-o and his supporters will gush, the unions will be happy and if this boondoogle is not passed then the teaparty and the republicans are at fault. They should give him his money, every last penny and let him pad the pockets of his loyal supporters. Won't take long to run through it and then he's gonna be back demanding more.

He is extending the unemployment benefits so that those who haven't found a job in over four years will now get another year of unemployment.

So it isn't raising taxes when you are supposed to pay a certain amount for your tax bracket but since there was loopholes and deductions passed they have gotten away with not paying what they should be.

Raising taxes would mean he is saying people paying 20% tax on their income now have to pay 22% tax on their income. That is not what he was proposing.

If that is your business, I'm sure you would say that your taxes were increased. If not, then you should demand all your money back that you paid for your education.

We can't afford the corporate tax rate to go up any higher. We have the highest rate in the world. This is why so many have gone off shore with their headquarters. So we go from receiving their corporate tax to another country with a lower tax collecting it for their people.... The left never stops to think, it's just Obama says pass it now! The United States of America has the second highest by less than 1/20th of a percentage point below Japan. USA at 39.21% and Japan's 39.54%. Ireland currently the lowest at 12.5%..... I am using the most commonly used "combined corporate tax rate" which includes all corporate taxes including national, state, and any local corporate taxes. You seem to be using a less commonly used "Marginal Corporate Tax rate" but I must admit it is "a rate" used though not often because so much is left out in it's calculations.

Combined corperate tax is not all taxes combined but all corporate taxes, local, state, national/Federal. Funny you can't fathom the most commonly used measure of corporate tax so you say it is not right.

Everyone should take a moment to look at the meaning of "fair." Websters states that to be fair is to be free from favor toward either or any side. It "implies an elimination of one's own feelings, prejudices, and desires so as to achieve a proper balance of conflicting interests." When I hear about the rich paying their "fair share," I think of each and every healthy person who sits at home with their five illigitimate children, spending my money to pay their rent (which is subsidized by my money), buy their food, purchase their clothing, etc. I have four children and a husband. I have raised my kids without government assistance. I have adopted no other children but have never been asked whether I want to feed, clothe and shelter more than my own. It is just assumed I should even when the person I am clothing, feeding and sheltering is as capable as I am of getting a job and paying their own way.

Then there are those working Americans who pay no taxes whatsoever (40%). Many of those get free money through the Earned Income Tax Credit. Not only are they not paying taxes, they are getting free money for no reason other than they just don't make as much as someone else. And as a former bankruptcy attorney, I saw many, many people cheating the system and stealing EIC monies they were not entitled to - thousands of dollars per household.

So you will forgive me when I have little to no sympathy for the position that the wealthy should pay their "fair share." If you want "fair share," pass a 10% tax across the board with no loopholes so that everyone is equal in the percentage that they are contributing to the pot. I bet if that was required, there would be more people who would be far less understanding of entitlement programs that continue subsidizing "lazy" America.

By the way, I'm not wealthy. I have a Juris Doctorate degree but make less than $40,000 per year as a public interest attorney. What I am is tired of support for "fair play" that is clearly not FAIR. That's what the tea party wants to stop, and when the liberals decide to stop calling names and come to the table for real change and real fairness, maybe the country can start moving forward again.

I make just over 40,000 and I receive EIC. Sorry I am such a moocher. I do work and am not lazy. I just don't make enough as a full-time teacher to be off of the dole (2 teenagers.) I am independent who voted for Obama, but you asked what plans the Republicans have put forward and I will say they have 15 bills that passed Congress on hold by Harry Reid's senate, which are really getting rid of Obama's envioromental regulations that are supposed to go in effect in 2012 that Obama is pusing to 2013. Obama is pushing back, because most economists call them job killers, but he now wants to wait for them to go into effect after he get re-elected.

My question to you is what have the Democrats put forward to improve the job situation, 1/16 of our current debt was from Obama's first stimulus and unemplyment is higher now than it was before the Stimulus passed. Please answer the question if you ask the question of what the republicans have done.

I though I did explain the substance that the bills were overturning many of Obamas Environmental Regulations that have not gone into effect. But to go further the current regulations that were supposed to go into effect in 2012 but organizations such as the EPA are pushing to 2013 are estimated to cost corporations in total 1 trillion dollars to enforce, many corporations are waiting on spending on other investments and hiring to see whether these regulations will actually go into effect. Take a look at Obama's own 2012 Budget projections - he estimates that the National Debt will be over $20.8 Trillion by 2016 - if he gets re-elected. Since the National Debt was $10.025 for fiscal year 2008 (Bush's last year), Obama will have added more new debt in his 8 years than all of the previous Presidents combined over the previous 240 years.

And guess who will have to pay that debt back - your children and grandchildren. If you voted for that "Change we can believe in", you just mortgaged your children's futures.

Obama's cronies successfully were able to have the courts unseal Jack Ryan's divorce records which stated that Jack Ryan liked to have sex with his wife in public places. He decided to drop out of the race due to the fact that these actions went against the parties "family values". He may not even have become a senator, if ran against Ryan rather than Keyes. He may of lost like he did four years prior when he tried to get elected to the Congress. Illinois is a messed up place for politics.

Nothing will pull the US from the black hole other than the immigration reform. American people should fight corruption not only home, but in their Embassies and consulates abroad and test their work for national security interest and American people including the economy. Reports before and after 9/11 event about the failure of the immigration and visa consulates in applying the law in favour the national security, citizens, American people public interest. Reports about US born children been deported in violation to the US constitution. This nation have been founded by immigrant, any other policy it is against its principals. Reports on allowing terrorists into the country and not allowing the real investors and good people for the public interest of the nation.

The US grant 50,000/year green cards for unknown foreign people, whether they are spy, terrorists or criminals from abroad the system is unable to reveal any of that while US born children are deported or blocked return to US to the lack of reform in the system. Thanks to individuals and people who really provide information, but not the Embassies or consulates abroad, because many of them service the interest of the enemies not the interest of the American people. This is a story of American couple who traveled abroad for adoption and they have been blocked for return over the lack of immigration reform over the adopted child. Business man, investors and good people are also blocked for entry based on the same fact, meanwhile terrorists, drug lords and illegal immigrants know better ways how to sneek in, is this how the American people want to be represented, the answer is NO.

you will get a list of your Senators and Representative, click on their name and it'll take you to their website. You really have to look for a way to send an email to some of them but I know mine had a way to do it.

In a nice but firm way I told them:

I would not only vote against anyone not signing this job bill but would actively campaign against anyone not signing it.

All the Republicans signed a "pledge" but when it comes down to it they want to keep their job. Put some pressure on them!
