Doesn't want to ban contraception???? No, he just wants to make it less effective. He favors a personhood ammendment. That puts the Pill and some other forms of BC out of business, he just won't say it straight out. Even MS wouldn't go for this one.
We need another war????? Who's going to pay for it? The middle class, just like everything else with this crowd.
You can count your chickens when everything around you is rotten eggs. That Paul, Gingrich, Bachman, et. al. are being taken seriously, in any way, shows you how out of touch with American society the Tea Party, who in the primaries, are the default Republican Party, really are.
Paul wants to end the military. Bachman needs a therapist. Gingrich was thrown out of government by the Republicans. Are you people serious? Do you want Obama to win?
I admit, Obama would probably lose if he ran unopposed. But you guys make him look so good!
So i guess with this guy, if you and your wife don't want to have any more kids, and he does not want you to use BC, i guess he feels you don't need sex any more. sex is for making babies not having fun between a man and his wife.
January 4th – It’s all over Republicans! The fat lady is warming up. President Obama is getting re-election advice from Jimmy Carter! Carter offered these words of wisdom for O: “If your main goal is to get re-elected, avoid a controversial subject as much as you can ...” So Jimmy thinks O’s re-election is in the bag as long as O can remain mute on his economy, unemployment, the debt, his “stimulus”, Obamacare, Fast & Furious, Solyndra, Occupy Wall St, 4th greatest president, & 90 rounds of golf. One good thing for O. His friends in the media don’t like to talk about this “icky stuff” either. Safe subject for O (and the press) in 2012? Well, there’s always his dog Bo.
No, Obama's reelection is in the bag unless the Republicans become mute. The more these clowns open their mouths, the less it seems that Obama is a failure.
He'll declare war on Iran, immigrants, Muslims, gays, women, and Democrats, without ever lifting a finger to end abortion. But he'll sure talk about it a lot.
His google name is an insult to bodily fluids that come from the rectum, as described. He is nothing more than a hate mongering, fear mongering child that couldn't even get elected in his home state. Bob Casey wasn't even that good, it was just that Santorum was that bad.
Santorum blamed "the influence of radical feminism"...
What Santorum means is that women not have been given the right to vote; to own property; to work outside of the home; to pursue secular professions; to without their husband's, father or a brother's consent travel alone; and they should not be able to choose their own life destiny.
he is personally opposed to contraception, which he has called "harmful to women," though he says he would not attempt to outlaw it
Is Santorum a licensed physician? What contraceptive methods does he believe are harmful to women? Probably all contraception. If anyone believes that this in-the-bedroom policeman would not outlaw contraception - I have a bridge to sell you.
'He would debate anything and everything with you,...'He was like a rooster. He never backed down."
If elected to the Oval Office, Santorum would be just as arrogant.
[he argued] that pro wrestling was not a sport and should be exempt from federal steroid regulations,"
Without the supervision of a licensed physician, steroids are always dangerous.
As Santorum's chances have improved recently, Mitt Romney has attacked him as a Washington insider
Fine.
Let these GOP ideologues pick each other off.
The Republican's last absurd candidate will then have to politically run against President Obama.
Santorum is just jealous that Iran has created a religious terrorizing theocratic state where no one has any rights to anything but the religous beliefs he sees fit.
Protecting the life of the innocent babies? Standing up for marriage so that kids can grow up with some sense of normalcy? Standing up for tradtional morality so that cultural relativism cannot destroy our society? Preserving our American heritage of freedom? These things sound pretty wacky and scary to me, especially since we have made so much progress as a society. Just take one look at Europe and tell me we are headed in the right direction. You forget your roots and why this country has made so much oppourtunity for people. Its really disgusting and sickening to hear people so pompous.
Santorum was once too extreme for the Republicans, but the fact that he makes even Huckabee look semi-rational.
As easy as this makes things for Obama, it saddens me to see that a once respectable party has devolved into a bunch of nuts that try to out right-wing each other and are too blinded by their vitriol for Obama to see anything else. And a good chunk of people actually likes this and votes for this.
@my pov: Santorum stated his opposition to all forms of contraception in an interview with a political blogger this past October...
“One of the things I will talk about, that no president has talked about before, is I think the dangers of contraception in this country,” the former Pennsylvania senator explained. “It’s not okay. It’s a license to do things in a sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be”.
Santorum has also expressed opposition to Griswold vs. Connecticut, the 1965 Supreme Court ruling that established the right of married couples to use birth control. ()
The more voters learn about this guy, the more they'll see how he makes the Taliban seem reasonable. Small government, my a$$...
I was going to waste my time trying to make a intellegent responce to ALL,but thank GOD I caught myself and thought WE ALL DESERVE EVERYTHING WE GET FROM ALL THESE ELECTED OUT OF WORK PHONIES,ALL>RIGHT,LEFT,and the rest. I do KNOW this Pray For Your ENEMY! wpmrjr
MSNBC OMG please correct the title...now...know. I thought middle school students have finished their winter break. Evidently not. Looks like they are MSNBC's proof readers.
Santorum has, for years advocated for a "personhood" amendment, similar to that which was just defeated in Mississippi and is pending legislation in 16 other states as I write this. These "personhood" laws and amendments state that a "person" is created at the moment of conception and that any natural or unnatural failure of that single cell to grow to either spontaneous abortion or delivery is a criminal act by the mother, but never the father. He believes that all failures of fetal viability are caused by acts committed by the mother, such as drinking alcohol, failure to get proper nutrition, etc.
He believes that all failures of fertilized cells to implant in the uterus arte the fault of the mother and are manslaughter. This would mean that virtually every woman would at sometime in their sexual lives would have to go spend a while in prison since scores more fertilized cells fail to implant than actually do implant.
Santorum, however, even carries it a step further and opposes all "blockaid" forms of contraception such as diaphrams, condoms, gels, and foams because they are an "unnatural sex act akin to pedophilia and beastiality." He also opposes masturbation as an unnatural act and would like to see it criminalized.
Santorum is a "conservative" Roman Catholic of the Mel Gibson ilk. He wants the Mass to be returned to Latin and ALL lay women removed from all Christian churches and wants all marriages performed by women declared as adulterous and annulled. He sees Protestants as apostate Roman Catholics and does not recognize Anglicans or Marianites and many others (including Mormons) as Christians.
This guy is so uptight you couldn't pull a needle out of his butt with a tractor.
why does believing that tough action, likely military, is needed to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon make Santorum a "extreme hawk" or a "dumb republican"..both Clintons have made similar statements...in fact many dems, including our current president, have said that Iran getting nuclear weapons was unnacceptable. In deplomacy speak that means we will use military force if necessary to prevent Iran from getting the bomb. Whether we end up in an armed conflict with Iran has much more to do with who is running that country than who is running ours.
You need to understand that if they want to have nuclear weapon is their choice. What makes us the "authority"to prevent them from having them? Don't we have them? And if they want to have one, does that mean that they are going to use it?
Do you really thing that they are that stupid?
You and the rest of the Americans that think like you need to stop thinking that way. We are not the cop of the world. If Ron Paul is right about something is that one statement.
What business is it of ours if they have a nuclear weapon? Why do Americans have to die just because we do not want them to have them? Isn't that the most ridiculous and stupid thing?
How many other countries have nuclear weapons? We have weapons to destroy the world many times over. If they add one more, it won't make a difference. But it will make a difference to many Americans right now to go to another war without any real end in mind.
Paul does not want to end the military he wants to bring our troops home and end the needless bases around the world. You need to get your facts straight.
The Google definition of "Santorum" fits him perfectly... and it could not have happened to a more deserving piece of trash.
Everything Santorum talks about is BIG GOVERNMENT in your personal lives, in your bedroom, and in your body. Come on, Repubs. Where is your call for "smaller government"? What happened to those shouting about "government interference" in our lives?
Yeah, the article made ME a believer in the Anti-Christ- he's wearing a sweater vest and looking like an unmolested choir boy, while planning world war III (AKA the Apocalypse, as Frothy Rick likes to call it).
IRESPOND, I think you make a reasoned point. The argument that the US should not dictate who does and who does not have the bomb is ok...but my point is that MSNBC paint Santorum and an extremist when he has the same view as most other republicans and democrats, including the Clintons and our current president just shows how distorted MSNBC is...they are generally dishonest in their portayal of anyone with whom they disagree.
So Jimmy thinks O’s re-election is in the bag as long as O can remain mute on his economy, unemployment, the debt, his “stimulus”, Obamacare, Fast & Furious, Solyndra,
What a laugh. Each of your fabulous points are easily discussed and would prove to be winners in any debate.
Economy? Unemployment? How bad WAS it? How's it looking now? Who CAUSED it? Where were those regulators Mr. Bush? Where was the legislative help with JOBS Mr. Boehner? No smoking gun here.
The debt? Are you kidding? Between Bush's unfunded wars, unfunded and massive Homeland Security, unfunded Medicaid, and his Bush tax cut money giveaway, Bush was and is responsible for $500 Billion a year added to the national debt. Add in the $500 Billion a year of lost revenue from the economy and we get a whopping $1Trillion a year in debt courtesy of our wonderful GOP.
The stimulus? Provided jobs. Provided stability for two years for local, county, and sytate governments. Provided extended unemployment benefits for those most suffering from the GOP gift to the American people.
yes folks...we have all, yes, all of us been drinking the cool-aid as you like to say. the right and left play the public every day, all the while doing as they please because we don't stand up and put a stop to it. the nice thing to do would be to vote out all democrats and republicans. lets let the '3rd' parties have a shot at it. but instead of letting them play, lets put term limits on them. lets keep an eye on them. if 3/4 of us agree to vote them out, then they are out.
Number 8 alone is reason enough not to vote for him!
Rick Sanatorium is not a wise choice for the long haul. Sanatorium is just G.W. part Deux, who has said outright that he would go to war with Iran. {And you can bet that Obama, & Romney would do the same, because their masters would tell them to.} Romney is the GOP version of Obama. And Obama is just a rehash of Carter. But if you stand for the Constitution and Liberty, your a Ron Paul supporting kook. Who, by the way, is the ONLY one who will keep us out of another war...
So how about a bit of news from overseas regarding what would happen if we do go to war (ie - invade) with Iran?
"Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it." -- George Santayana
"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country WHO DETERMINE THE POLICY and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, AND DENOUNCE THE PEACEMAKERS FOR LACK OF PATRIOTISM AND EXPOSING THE COUNTRY TO DANGER. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY." -- Hermann Goering, at the Nuremberg Trials
"Military men are just dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns in foreign policy." -- Henry Kissinger
“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.” -- attributed to Joseph Goebbels, Reich Minister of Propaganda 1933-1945, Nazi Germany.
"Auferre, trucidare, rapere, falsis nominibus imperium; atque, ubi solitudinem faciunt, pacem appellant." Translation: "To ravage, to slaughter, to usurp under false titles, they call empire; and where they make a desert, they call it peace." -- Gaius Cornelius Tacitus 56 - 117AD,
We have two choices: Ron Paul - or - War. Which one will it be?
{For those interested, look up George Washington's Vision. Pay VERY special attention to the "Third Peril".}
As for Mitt's contributors, looks just like Obama's list.
Now to Santorum - this one article tells us more about Santorum than we know about our current President after 3 years in office.
I sure wish that the lunatic left wing media would provide this much detail in the investigation of Obama, as they seem lost in their abject praise and that "trickle".
The lunatic left wing media hasn't provided this much detail in the investigation of President Obama because the lunatic right wing media has done that for you. That illustrious group has shown us without doubt about President Obama's socialist-marxist-communist-nazi-stalinist ties, who isn't a US citizen and (OMG) occasionally smokes a cigarette.
Were the F-n they find these people; someone who runs for office eight (8) years, someone who got kicked out on their azz by his own party, you got an old man who wants our enemies to have nuclear weapons and hates blacks, you got another one who is bush on cocaine, then there is someone who thinks there are no role models for black people which includes President Obama. I mean seriously even if you can't read or write and have a little common sense you could see these people are nuts, unless you have so much hate in your bigot, racism, rancor heart and don't want to deal with the reality that we are a mixed nation and the majority will be the minority in a few years which means you have to be understanding of all races not just your own. You can do it If you want to live in the United States of American and be in public office.
This is not the 1800's and the more you go backwards the more this country moves in a more corporatism position. We are not moving backwards if you need a clue look how fast technology is moving.
Are you crazy? The right wing media went to go visit President Obama's great grand mother in Kenya to see if he was raised there, so they could tell lies, but all they came up with is President Obama visited Kenya. They even went after his pastor, uncles, wife, kids, grand mother and grand father and all of his friends. They even put lies on the internet saying he was a muslin. Id you ask me i would say all the hate you have it taught racism.
Solutions....YOU are dillusional if you think ANYONE went after Obama's kids, ever!. As for his pastor...no one had to "go after" him, it was all there on audio tape! His rants against America and white people. "G.D. AMERICA". So don't "go there" that the right was wrong to question what kind of person and patriot his mentor and pastor is. And you have the nerve to bring up RACISM? You want to see racism being taught, look up that man's sermons. Even the "little woman" was ASHAMED of her country...until her husband was elected. Hardly hears strains of "Hooray for the Red, White & Blue" coming from the Obama family and friends gatherings.
The libs were all over Alaska digging for dirt on Sarah Palin. And she wasn't even running for President. Long after the election was over as a matter of fact. Paying young people and sending contingents to go combing through and dissecting her e-mail, stalking her every move...And, boy DID the libs go after the Palin children. With a vengence!!....
He is not natural born as in being born to 2 citizens that were born in the USA. Not if his father came to USA at a young age. Does not seem he is quailifed under the constitution to be president.
What Frothy Santorum wants to do is exactly the opposite- he wants the Pope to run, and ruin America.
If we had wanted a crazy fundamentalist Catholic woman hater to run our country, we would have implemented a constitutional amendment allowing Aussie Mel Gibson to be President- but we DIDN'T.
Are you stupid or just ignorant. You site the law but you dont know it. To be a natural citizen you only need one parent to be a citizen at birth. I swear people hear the Obama birth issue and think they know the law. The reason people question Obama is the same reason they could question me. I was adopted by my father so my birth certificate was changed to Sanders. He changed his name and his birth certificate was changed and they want to see the original.
I also taught his kids Karate. They are a good family.
Invisible hand - I guess you don't distinguish between legal immigration and illegal immigration. That's why Santorum's grandfather spent 5 years apart from his family, he actually LEGALLY immigrated to the U.S. My uncle did the same from Pakistan. Its a slap in the face of everyone who took the time, resources and hard work to become a citizen when you lump them in with people circumventing the law.
Think differently? At one point he wanted to outlaw contraceptives. The only reason he doesn't is because he knows he for sure wouldn't win an election with that opinion. He wants war with Iran, after we already lost a war in Iraq. But what is twisted about him is that he actually thinks gay marriage will lead to man on dog sex, or man on child sex. That is what is twisted.
Dem in Texas: "...we already lost a war in Iraq", A substantial number of our men and women in the military disagree with you...but then what would they know...they were only the ones there in Iraq doing the fighting!
As a good friend who did two tours in Iraq recently said: "We won the war when Saddam was hanged ... that was our job. But we weren't supposed to be occupiers."
What this says about Iowa is that they almost NEVER pick the Republican who goes on to be a candidate, let alone President. Iowans are some of the least cosmopolitan and most xenophobic people in the country, eaten up with rampant hate-driven right-wing proto-christian evangelism.
What is going on in Iowa is that every fundamentalist Christian pulpit in the state is reminding people that their minister was taught in seminary that Mormons are not Christians because ALL Christians (both Catholic and Protestant) accept the Nicene Creed or one of its faithful updates or translations. I am not an Evangelical but I do admit that this statement is true and that most ministers see part of their religious duty as educating people about their beliefs.
People are very hestant to vote for either Romney or Huntsman (who is a well-qualified individual and seems very thoughtful and well-spoken) because they are Mormons, but it is not considered politically correct to say it directly.
So Iowans have been "surging" every candidate except Romney trying to send a message that they want someone who is a Tea Party conservative, but not a Mormon and not with absurd amounts of baggage. If a yellow dog had run in the caucus he would probably have come in second instead of Santorum.
I dont know much about santorum...never had much reason to learn about him either...but you wont learn anything from the lies spewed on this site. Take the lie about Terri Shiavo..she was not on life support. Therefore no one opposed taking her from life support. The issue at the time, and a reasonable one, is whether it should be allowed to deprive someone of food and water. Shiavo's husgand was successful in getting the courts to allow him to deprive his wife of food and water till she died. I dont where Santorum came down on that issue but its a lie for msnbc to say he opposed taking her off life support because she was not on life support...so everything else in this article is suspect to me!
Soggy....do you not realize that if someone can't feed themselves and a tube is inserted to keep them supplied with nourishment, that constitutes life-support? Were I on life support for years as TS was, I would not want ANYBODY interfering with my spouses decision (whom I totally trust by the way), much less a sleazy, publicity seaking politician. And...this is really the least of his many ludicrous ideas.
Steve, I do not believe that providing a person with food and water is "life support"..at least not in the common usage of that term. And just to set the matter straight it was TS mother and father who were opposing depriving her of food and water...it was a husband who wanted to cash in a live insurance policy and remarry that wanted to deprive her of nourishment. I support pulling the plug on someone who is being kept alive artificially but starving someone to death is a bit different I think...it would have been more humane to simply put a bullent in her head...but people who supported depriving her of food would have thought that shooting somehow inhumane or immoral...the bottom line though is that MSNBC intentionally distorted the facts for this article...they are the Fox News of the left and not to be believed.
Soggy... There are different types of life support. There's really no general term. Perhaps you are thinking a breathing machine? But that is not the only type. Providing a human being with food and water when they can't feed themselves is a form of life support because it's support for the gastrointestinal system. Doctors can insert tubes in the body to feed the body because the person cannot feed themselves. It's supporting their life because they can't survive without it and can no longer do it on their own. My uncle went through something similar and he didn't want to be kept alive by any artificial means, including a feeding tube to support his life.
Vermontguy: A "human interest" story requires a human as a subject---and no, comming up with "negatives" about this frothy-mixure is not that difficult.
Oh yeah Dem in Texas? Who is passing judgement now and hate mongering? I am not even a catholic and I can tell you that the Catholic church is against marriage between a man and a man and abortion. Crusades? It is impossible to have rational conversation with someone who compares current events in Iran with the crusades. Give me a break.
@Woodrow,
I am very well aware of my religion's position on various issues, I however am not a sheep that just blindly follows what a man in a robe tells me. I don't know many Catholics that agree with every point of the Catholic church, most of us think for ourselves.
I'm also not comparing current events with something that occured a thousand years ago. I'm saying Santorum is essentially for the same type of war for the same type of reasons that the crusades were launched. His mentality is essentially from the 11 century. Sorry my post didn't read like a 5th grade novel.
Soon and filled with enough hate these tea bag conservatives will turn to body bombs. Ingrown terrorists. Trying enforce their beliefs on everyone, sounds like a cult to me.
If you don't believe what i believe you are crazy. That's what the republican want you to think, but their thinking got us into this mess. And who ever forgets that is just as crazy as they are.
you people AMAZE me. Anybody who dares disagree with you or has a different view of things is automatically labeled as hate. Good grief. I will be glad when November gets here so you people can get a dose of reality
Perhaps because all you can see is hate. In not one comment in this extremely slanted article do I see anything that says Santorum hates anyone. I see a man who will do what we need to have done in this country. We need an Iran hawk instead of an Arab bower like we now have. We need someone who will cut stupid entitlement programs. We need someone who will stop kowtowing to special interests and special classes of people. I can conceive of him as President.
such tolerant liberals. lol..or u r blinded by liberal media propaganda like Ridgelon says. If PMSNBC is the only source of news (with the New York Times) for u, then of course ur gonna get a skewed view of the world. Unless ur a liberal..then it's like preaching to the choir.
He espoused "legal" immigration (does anyone remember what that used to be), he has different personal opinions about women. He repeated a concern about equal protection that was brought up by SCOTUS. OH DEAR GOD!!! HE BREATHES THEREFORE HE HATES!!!! RUN FOR THE HILLS!!!!
Anybody who dares disagree with you or has a different view of things is automatically labeled as hate.
That's not true. Santorum's own words are full of hatred towards gays, immigrants, women who work, and the list goes on and on and on.
There is a difference between disagreeing with someone, as Bart obviously disagrees with Santorum, and labeling them as lesser human beings not deserving of equal rights with others, as Santorum does with gays, immigrants, Muslims, and so many others.
Let me get this straight. If you believe that marriage was directed by God between one man and one women that that is hate?
Seems to me, it used to take only a man and a woman to bring about offspring and raise them. Why shouldn't we hold that as something extra special?
Why shouldn't we give them special recognition for staying together and trying to appropriately responsibly raise the offspring they are responsible for bringing into the world? After all, other than recent developements of invitro fertilization, that is the only way YOU could exist.
Don't you realize that bi-sexual couples who find they can't have children, or can't have as many as they would like have to do the consolation method of adopting?
Don't you realize that Marriage is comittment of two nearly total opposites to help them stay together?
Explain how giving the title to marriage to those who buck the established traditional natural system, doesn't it devalue it to mean two people just living together because they please each other?
I have questions. Aren't you are reacting in emotion rage for the purposes of gaining your own way regardless of the rules over the objections of many who disagree?
Actually, if you would read the entire article where he speaks about gay people, a lot of what he said was taken out of context. I am not a Santorum supporter, but I detest when assumptions are made about people just to put a negative spin on their person. This article is definitely slanted to make him look bad.
I have disliked this man for years.. he is a hate monger.. and all those things he hatges are an intergal party of our socitey.. he would have a nation of rooster believers and the not wanted would be in camps
So, what you're saying is that all couples that can't conceive are automatically bi-sexual? Citation needed.
Adoption should only be reserved for opposite sex couples? Are there enough? If so, then why are orphanages still needed? Where's you're evidence that opposite-sex couples do better with raising children than same-sex couples? Citation needed.
Allowing same-sex marriage devalues opposite-sex marriage? I have yet to see any study that has determined the divorce rate amongst heteros going up when homos are allowed to marry. Citation needed.
Santorum is a hate-mongerer. He spreads the lies that homosexuality is a disease (even argued with a psych student that told him the APA removed homosexuality from its list of mental illnesses back in the 70's). He supports bad science, promoting "Intelligent Design" in schools (he was big on the Dover case). He's "pro-life," (anything but, according to the studies of mortality rates amongst women during the years of abortion prohibition). He wants a war with Iran, big time.
In short, he's just another in a long line of Reconstructionist jerks who want to take us back to the dark ages. You think he's for small government, but he's not. He wants to peek into people's bedrooms, he'll increase the hold the NSA has, continue renewing the Patriot Act (which I'm still sore at Obama for doing), and continue the march of Christian Nationalism down the road to theocracy.
You try to dress him up as some kind of hero, but he's still a hypocrite whose wife had an abortion but he thinks it would be horrible if anyone else were given that choice to decide between her and her doctor. Because his case was "special".
So, tell me, where do you get this idea that he is a good guy? Because, in all honesty, citation sorely @!$%#ing needed.
About 80%+ of Mormons believe in plural marriage. And many, many more practice it than people realize even though it is often very open. And they cannot be prosecuted at all despite all the bigamy laws on the books for several reasons:
The Bible, both Old and New Testaments, clearly supports plural marriage as a man's right. Period. Marriage is a religious institution, not a civil institution. Civil Union is a contract, not a religious rite, and is conducted mostly for tax purposes. Mormons only have one civil union, but as many marriages in the Mormon Church as then can find willing partners. There is nothing in plural mariages done this way that can be successfully prosecuted.
Government has no business interfering in marriage. It is a religious rite and the requirements for marriage vary greatly from religion to religion. The separation of church and state dictates that government not interfere to establish one religion's rules over another.
Civil contracts are a necessary form of government. Religions and churches which seek to apply religious law to contracts should lose their tax exemption. If churches can dictate civil contracts, they can dictate a great deal more than just marriage (and they often try to do so.)
I would point out that government does grant the power to ordained ministers to consuct concurrent civil unions, but does not grant a Justice of the Peace, for example, the ability to conduct marriages per se.
Blurring the lines between marriage and civil union is a straw dog argument that does not hold water. If you oppose gay marriage, don't marry one. It's just that simple. But puleeeeeeze don't worry your tiny brains about who I marry or have civil union with. It is truly none of your flipping business.
If you want to run everyone else's sex lives --- why don't we start with Gingrich work from there?
Let me get this straight. If you believe that marriage was directed by God between one man and one women that that is hate?
No. But calling for some couples to be denied rights merely because they're the same sex IS hate.
We don't deny the right to marry to atheists, or those worshiping other gods, which nullifies the "directed by God" argument. We don't deny the right to marry to those who don't want children, or those past childbearing age, or those who have been sterilized, which nullifies the "its only for raising children" argument - and some gay couples are raising children. We don't deny the right to marry to drunkards or swingers or prostitutes or pimps or pornographers, which nullifies the "It's a sin" argument. So what's left? Old fashioned hatred, that's what.
Santorum is a hate-mongerer. He spreads the lies that homosexuality is a disease (even argued with a psych student that told him the APA removed homosexuality from its list of mental illnesses back in the 70's).
Name the gay Gene - Yup, all the genes have been identified and mapped. No gay gene apparently exists, but they are currently still looking for it.
If a gay gene cannot be found, then it should be determined if, said attractions are because something has gone awry such as hermaphrodites. Otherwise, we have to look at it as a learned or chosen behavior.
I'm not willing to give people "card blanche" just because they think they out to have it. It seems to me that I understand to question peoples motives. This is because without a strong respect for others, too many people are "Everyone for themselves, but ME first. That is a very destructive bent to have.
He supports bad science, promoting "Intelligent Design" in schools
Who made you judge of what good science is?
If you think Science disproves the Bible - it doesn't. Mostly it disproves what people think the Bible says. English is the most difficult language to translation to because many Greek and Hebrew words have to be described because there is no English lanquage equivilent. This leads to half understandings and misunderstandings.
You want to say that the Human cell wasn't designed" 600 different proteins alone work together in a cell. There is one that holds every cell together in you body called Laminin. Tell me if you know what it's chemical structure looks like? Have you seen the electromagnetic image of it?
You propose that everything came from the primordial ooze and organized itself?
An infant can be "viable" at 24 weeks we know that DNA has a big roll to play. You would need billions of years to pull this off if it organized itself? . . . . . you mean the ooze had intelligence itself to become DNA? The longest ice core record is only 750,000 years in length. And we think we are intelligent to create new life ourselves, when the maximum brain capacity is approximately 1000 years? I think science has got a lot of explaining to do yet.
CM marriage wasn't just in Christianinty, it is found in most ancient religions, who never pictured two people of the same sex joining in Union. I think the first reference of a same sex marriage was in Rome - not like The Roman Empire was a good example, for because of their pursuits of pleasure and privileges lead to their downfall.
But calling for some couples to be denied rights merely because they're the same sex IS hate
Calling it hate doesn't make it hate. And Calling it hate is more about stirring up hate, to get something you want, at any cost.
I also don't think you understand that today more than ever, people are willing to look the other way on wrongs and even support wrongs so the other person in return will support them for something they want that isn't right either.
Think that isn't true? Follow how our laws in congress get passed. It is not only why we are in such deep debt, but why we hate about everthing that our government does. But we are happy if we get what we want.
I am quite surprised he didn't have something to say about interracial marriage. He sounds like he has a ton of issues about women and what goes on in the bedroom, what women choose to do with their own bodies, and he definitely is a bigot. Look out African Americans, if you help put him into the office then the next stop is the back of the bus! Seriously, he wants to turn back the hands of time. If Ron Paul isnt on the ticket my vote is going to Obama.
i agree-i guess the biggest problem i have with mr. santorum is that he uses God as a tool, like a screwdriver to get votes. nothing upsets me more than hypocrisy and that is what i see. i'm not just trying to insult him. i am a person of great faith and i take offense to people who spew religious dogma, which has nothing to do with God, and use it, like carpetbaggers to take advantage of others' ignorance. the power of the universe that caused life to come into being, is something beyond our understanding, yet religious sects have turned this power into a Greek god who is at best cruel and at worst a monster beyond conception. if you read the Bible and take it literally, you have a god that condoned murder of innocents, wholesale destruction and death. what kind of god would do that? well, Cronus would. Zeus would. but, the true energy, the power and consciousness of the universe is so far beyond those petty, HUMAN failings. we personify God because we have no true understanding of this power and it is the only way we can relate to it. but, read what God said in the Bible and you find that 'he'(i use the term for convenience) describes himself as 'the alpha and the omega. the beginning and the end.' Not a man, nothing like a man and he never appears as anything but one form of energy or another. the reason our ancestors attributed everything to God is because they didn't understand the natural world, so just like the romans and greeks and egyptians before them, they made God responsible. and they use God for their own purpose to control the masses.
what is mr. santorum so afraid of? one person said what's wrong with his views of having families only be heterosexual and women at home and not at work and having 'traditional families' is somehow the only way to live. i'll tell you what is wrong with your views and i know this may offend some people here-you'll get over it. we don't live in a christian country. we live in a FREE country! that means you have no right under the constitution to impose your religious dogma on me or anyone else. it means that ALL americans should have equal rights, not just upper class, white, heterosexual males. sorry. but, i'm not giving up MY freedoms because you think God is gonna get me. and the truth is, if people would simply MIND THEIR OWN BUSINESS, we wouldn't HAVE the strife we have now!
some people find enlightenment and a connection to the universal soul-like Buddha. some people are born enlightened-like Jesus. He gave us the heart and soul of what God the universal power is trying to spread. "Love thy neighbor as thyself." there is no comma after this statement that leaves out gays, poor people, women, arabs or democrats. the other great law is to love God. Well, God IS the universe and everything in it, like this planet and ourselves. God is in every single living being because we are all part of the universe-we are all made up of the elements of the universe-the elements of God. to do anything short of loving one another WITHOUT judgment goes against these two commandments. So, if you TRULY believe in what God wants, and not some church, then mr. santorum is not what you should be looking for.
Same sex marriage USED to be a Christian (and by definition a CATHOLIC) rite. There was specific liturgy spoken during same sex unions by the Catholic priests.
disagreeing with someone is one thing. On the other side of the equation: If both of you disagree what will you do? Will you both say the other side is lying? If one side has the majority will they impose laws that you disagree with? or will you compromise? To be reasonable you compromise.
But this repuke party don't want to compromise so what does that make them? Answer: Hateful people who hates guys, women, Hispanics, Blacks and everyone who don't look like them. Period.
alessa's mystical mumblings aside (another day, another dollar maybe), I have some real scientific bones to pick with you. I'll start towards the end.
So, science has a lot to explain? Of course it does, twit. Science has EVERYTHING to explain. That's what science does, explain things. Did your understanding of the cell come from the Bible, or from a science textbook? Did Francis Collins use divine revelation by burning a bull, or did he use scientific inquiry and methodology to map the human genome? Don't give me the line "science doesn't know everything, therefore it knows nothing." Scientists already KNOW they don't know everything. Otherwise, they wouldn't be scientists (they'd be priests, pastors, preachers, imams, whatever your flavor is). Science is the best method we have of knowing anything. Scientific inquiry has provided much, much more knowledge in a shorter time span than thousands of years of superstitious thinking. Evidence? The computer screen you're reading this on.
Now, as for life origins? Sure, scientists don't know enough to have a definite conclusion. Yet. You seem to be under the misled impression that the first cell was anything but a self-replicating organism. Self-replicating RNA strands have been observed forming under conditions much like the early Earth had. All it would take to form the first life would be a few of those merging into lipid structures. Mutation, drift, selection, and the other known forces of evolution would be more than enough to account for the diversity of life we've seen both in the fossil record and currently. Seriously, you're disputing the age of the Earth because ice core samples only go back 75000 years? I'm not going to even look that up, but I can tell you they have other methods of determining the age of the Earth than ice cores. Geologic formations, radioactive decay, erosion, and other observed effects puts the age of the Earth at well beyond 75000 years. Even without evolutionary theory, geologists before Darwin were already questioning the conventional wisdom of a young Earth. Open a book, and hold it right-side up.
Your knowledge of genetics seems rather simplistic. Though you are able to spout off your knowledge of 600 supposed genes, I'm pretty sure there are over 10,000 in the human genome. You mention a gene I have no knowledge whatsoever of. And I'm fine with admitting that. You say that gene contributes to holding the cell together. Fine, I'll take that on face value. Now, how many other genes contribute to holding the cell together? Is that gene present in both eukaryotes and prokaryotes? What, specifically, is it's function? How does the protein mechanism work? Is it used in cell wall repair? Is it used in checking for abnormalities in the gateway proteins of the cell wall? Is it itself a gateway protein in the cell wall? How does it interact with other proteins? Is it produced in all cells, or switched off in some, the brain perhaps? The liver? The kidney? The pancreas? What happens when it is switched off? Are there multiple redundant copies? In all people, or just some? Must it be paired with other genes in significant quantity to perform its function?
The reason for the many questions above lead to this: the Gay Gene? Tell me, where is the Straight Gene? Where is the gene that, at around 10-13 years old, made you stop thinking girls were icky and start noticing their secondary sexual characteristics? If it's purely a choice/environment, why are there gay kids at all? Kids were, until recently, only born to heterosexual couples. So how did they learn to be gay? How did they know it was even a choice? How did you know it was a choice? Are you naturally attracted to people of both sexes (i.e. do you get turned on by both men and women), and decided that you only WANT to be attracted to people of the opposite sex?
Homosexuality, if genetically related, is definitely not just related to one gene. Nor would it likely be exclusively genetic. Most likely, there is a genetic predisposition coupled with developmental differences. These developmental differences can occur in the womb, or any time after the formation of the blastocyst. It could by psychologically related, but the evidence points less towards differing psychological activity every day. So what is your basis for saying that it is purely environment and/or choice? Genetics is not a science of saying "we found the such and such gene." It doesn't work like that. Genes have multiple copies, and different versions of those copies. The simplistic method of description is the alleles. But, those alleles are modified by their own proficiency in the organism, as well as regulatory processes (transcription rates, presence of conflicting or supporting proteins, etc.). All in all, the gene system is that, a system, not a gene. Proteins support each other and conflict with each other. It is so extremely convoluted and complex that scientists spend their entire lives studying one little part of it and may never spot some big holes they missed.
By the way, complexity does not indicate design, no matter how much you'd like it to. Complexity indicated complexity, and there's no correlation that IDiot Behe or any of his cohorts have found that haven't been explained (usually before, but also after) by other scientists that were willing to delve into the nitty gritty and do the real work instead of throwing up their hands and saying "goddidit." So don't discount the hundreds of thousands of people that have and are working on real scientific issues simply because you don't understand it immediately. Complex things require study, not blindness.
Hey MSNBC . . . great non-slanted view. LOL You guys are a hoot . . . you just about kiss Obama's butt from the git go (no in depth study of his voting record - such as it is - just a "WOW . . . that Obama guy is something"); but when a conservative runs - you guys are like rabid animals, foaming at the mouth "to dig up any and everything". Looking forward to this biting you in the butt. LOL
Amazing that the press, supposedly charged with reporting, comments either negatively or positively, depending on the agenda. Not a word about the fact that Obama has no past, no past girlfriends, not one person who is willing to step up and say they recall him at Columbia. Not one person who was at his wedding. A groomsman, or anyone?!!!Any photos of his dating Michele? Where did they meet? Anything?
But, as soon as someone who does not conform with the agenda of biased media arrives on the scene, all these geniuses know everything about them, and then some. Too bad the DNC didn't have the good grace or courtesy to congratulate Romney, Santorum or Ron Paul for their achievements. Instead, they attacked them. Shows the caliber of the leader...........
That's why people who see how MSNBC runs their "news" needs to step up and boycott their advertisers. Not that I plan on visiting any of these sites that are about how someone in some local town earns 4000 dollars a month working from home at only 10 hours a week.
And people think Ron Paul is scary? This man wants to go to war, no ifs, ands or buts about it. Another Neo-Con war monger. The article is slanted as all MSNBC articles are, they attack anyone who appears to be gaining momentum. This is the way most media works these days, always trying to push their candidate or agenda, but when one points this out they see them as a troll. What ever happened to great Journalism? Guess it died the same as our Government statesmen. Freedom of the press was put there to report the news not to slant it to one side.
What is it with fundamentalist Christian men running for President wanting to beat up on Iranians? What is Christian about killing people? It's the Christian crusades all over again!
Hey Mr. Santorum,
You know your beliefs about women staying at home and taking care of children match Islam's beliefs. You are a better match politically with the Middle East than the Americas. North, Central or South. How 'bout considering moving there? You won't be missed.
I wouldn't call the writer like 'rabid animals, foaming at the mouth', when all he/she has done is list Santorum's past deeds and outlined his life credo. I think Santorum would be happy to talk about evolution, contraception, abortion etc. so why is it bad to bring to our attention that he doesn't believe in evolution, will ban abortion if he gets a chance and worked very hard to meddle in private affairs as in the Terry Schiavo case, all the while advocating war with Iran.
Addie" the guy is almost in the lead for the Republican nominee, and you don't think voters should learn anything about his record? It's probably because the more you know about these clowns, the more you want to see Obama re-elected
Addie, this article did not dig anyting up. As a Pennsylvanian, there was a clear reason he lost incumancy to the Senate. This guy is the real-deal frothy-mixure.
We're STILL waiting to learn about Obama's record. He apparently HAS NO history... that he wants scrutinized, anyway. The little we do know about Obama and his affiliations, is enough to tell us he never should have been elected. Too guarded, too slippery...
Whatever, we all know a lot about Obama, and I do believe he is the only President that we can be sure was born in the US as he is the only one that has ever had to submit his birth certificate.
George Soros backed BO and he owns most of the networks. He's also anti-American and wants a one world government. Of course they're going to do a hatchet job on anybody that isn't BO.
I guess I just don't understand. Wouldn't a conservative supporter of Santorum see this article as positive? If not what are you looking for in a candidate?
@RU Serious--you are an idiot. He did not take a dead baby home so his kids could play with it. Have a little compassion as a human being toward someone who lost a child. Do you know how you would react? Very insensitive and idiotic statement you just made.
I looked into what he did. Yes, they could have been a lot more critical. They kind of missed on the house thing. He, like other people who don't know all the rules, did some incorrect things. But much of what he is accused of is about a + b must equal c - whether or not it really does equal "c" or not. Being there were no indictments of any wrong doing, the evidence must have been thin, or as in the case of the Cyberschool, corrected once the error was understood.
Geez, sorry! I just thought that was one more bizzaro example of right wing family values.
You conservatives are hard to figure out with all this "family values get caught going to prostitutes" and "family values get caught soliciting gay sex in a bathroom at the Minnessota airport" and "family values have an affair with your staffer who happen to be your best friends wife" and the like. Vitter, Larry Craig, and Ensign, for any curious about those three cited instances of Republican family values.
I guess I'm just so far off on figuring what Republican family values are, that I figured this article would be viewed positively by the Republicans. I guess I am an idiot. Thanks for straightening me out.
Rick and his Republican Family values. He doesn't want the government to allow abortion, but then he wanted the government to interfer in the Terri Shavio case. He's a typical right-wing nut job, who only wants the country to live as he does. He's not able to accommodate any other religion, and obviously thinks that women should be in bed or the kitchen, and not out of the house earning a living. His views on women in the workplace remain in the 18th century, like some Islamic terrorists. So a Christian terrorist is after the Republican nomination for president. Good luck to the USA!!!
RU Serious...Alan Combs made that disgusting comment about Santorium taking his dead son home and "playing with him". Comb has since apologized for saying that. So don't believe everthing you hear some liberal pundit puke out.
If you want fair and balance go to Fox News Web site.
You will get the most fair and balance FUX Noise reporting in the history of our country. At least MSNBC tries to hear the views of others. The at least hire republicans. Does Fox Noise do?
Yes we will! The left won't have to denegrate these bunch of clowns, they will do it to themselves...I've never seen anything like it before. What a bunch of looney tunes..all of them are in self-destruct mode. I'm glad that I changed to the democratic party, no way in hell would I ever vote for any of these morons.
He was accused of proposing doing favors for specific companies. Although he did propose laws and regulations that favored specific companies, but all proposals were written industry wide instead of specifically to any individual or company
He sold his house in PA, and bought a cheaper one. He then bought a nice house in Virginia, outside Washington. This wouldn't have been a problem except the bank he got the loan from was one that typically made loans a little larger than his. There was no charge of special rates, but a claim that he proposed some legislation that would have benefited the bank (as well as other banks).
He ended up in a flap over his Kids Education. He had enrolled them in Cyberschool so they could come to DC without interupting their eduction. Trouble is he moved later moved to Virginia and spent most of his time there and rented the PA home. Doing so put meant he was no longer a full-time resident of the PA school district and now was to pay for the Cyberschool instead of school district. The school issue was not discovered until during re-election Bob Casey publicized Santorums move to Virginia. There was no evidence of intention to defraud, and because the district had not been "dilligent", the courts ruled that Santorum did not have to repay the costs of Cyberschool.
Santorum missed paying his taxes on the PA home in 2010. When the failure was discovered, he paid the taxes and the penalty.
About the Death of their son - some try to make their behaviour as strange but, allowing parents and families to greive the loss is pretty common now, and quite a few people take their dead infants home for private burial. It beats how the hospitals are permitted to "dispose" of them and they don't have the expense of a full-blown funeral.
On Contraception. Although Santorum is personally against the use of contraception ( to teens specifically) he is on record for voting for such programs.
Santorum is against marriage meaning anything other than a man and a woman. It appears he also does not favor Civil Unions.
JezzaBelle...Democratic candidates NEVER "go after" their rivals in their party. They would NEVER lower themselves (sarcasm)!!! Are you forgetting that during the last Democratic primary, it was Hillary who started up the "birthers" when her people questioned Obama's birthplace and citizenship?????
Are you saying that you were a Republican and suddenly decided that everything you believed in no longer mattered? Or, did you become a Democrat because it was "cool" when President Obama was running? Or, are you saying that you agree with the Republicans, but since they don't have good candidates you felt it necessary to change parties because it somehow reflects on you? Or, have you never agreed with Republican philosophy and just joined without actually understanding what you were doing?
oh yeah.. it's that darn liberal media again never doing ANYTHING negative about Obama... Guess they leave it to the real press like FOX... what a laugh. Perhaps since Obama already has the office and this blow hard wants his job, they are doing THEIR job by looking into his past. I'll say most of your candidates don't scare me, rather they make me laugh.. however the prospect of Santorum being Pres scares the bejeez out of me for sure...
You have two parties one who’s taxes have gone down for the last 30 years the same one that has failed to give its work force a rise over it efficiency of work due at the same time. Talk about keeping the fruits of your labor, who’s fruit? Our labor is the source of their wealth. Why is it that candidates say we need to stop giving money to the poor and yet we keep bail-out business and we keep subsidizing industries. Why can’t we stop going to wars? They say we have interest in those areas, that we need to keep flowing our way. Gee, wars and military cost money how many gallons of gas will $800 billion have bought, that was the cost of the Iraq war.
Why in the world should YOUR President scare you? Whether you like it or not, he is your president and the only one qualified to be president out of this bunch of looney tunes.
how is he qualified? Because he was a community organizer? Or maybe it's because it took him 3 years to produce a viable forgery of a long form Hawaiian birth certificate. Barry Soetoro makes a mockery of the office of POTUS every day.
Laura; maybe because he got a large majority of electoral votes and a very large majority of popular votes makes him qualified.
Try and get over it. The biggest mockery of the office was 43.
The President's birth certificate was verified by the state AG, who happens to be Republican. I wish all you nay-sayers would get a life, or some other talking points.
omg Laura... quit drinking the koolaid.... when in the HELL will you guys let THAT one go... lol Guess you been listening to Trump too much. That subject is so yesterday.. why not try a new one... oh wait.. that would require you to actually think or do your own research.
Amazing how the hypocrisy of that act is ignored in favor of the bring-the-dead-baby home story, which even got me to tear up the first time I read it.
It's fine that he values his wife's life above that of a collection of cells. What isn't fine is that he wants to deny millions of other families the same choice. I will pray every night now that he gets the GOP nomination, so that Obama will smear him across the landscape and the party can rebuild itself into something rational and useful.
Wow. I just read that story of what happened for the first time. Makes him more creepy to me. So if that happens to me and my husband wanted to keep me alive and for my kids to have a mother it should be illegal, a sin, and I should die as well as the baby. If he wants to he should be able to choose. Now that is a seriously loving Christian way to think.
How can this guy even be considered Christian when he is so full of hate? How can he call himself small government when he wants to be in everyone's bedroom, doctor's office, and anywhere else we might want to choose our own lives?
Don't like Obama if you don't want to, but someone tell me how you can vote for this man who hates so much and doesn't even follow the commandments he insists everyone else should? No birth control? How is all this not hating women? How could a women vote for a man who would sentence her to die or force her to do what he wants with her uterus? I don't get that...fiscal policies aside, this person is seriously delusional and dangerous.
Frothy Santorum is a fine example of a family values Republicon- his own wife had labor induced at 20 weeks- guaranteeing an abortion- then he and his wife kept the fetus in the hospital bed with them overnight, took the fetus home, showed it to the kids, and took a lot of photos.
He and his fruitcake wife are entitled to do as they please in this matter, but they don't want anyone else to make choices for themselves.
He and his fruitcake wife would like to make birth control and abortion illegal for everyone else in America- this guy makes "wide stance" Larry Craig look like an amateur hypocrite.
You need to read what really happened. In 1996, a son, Gabriel, was born prematurely and lived for only two hours. While pregnant, Karen Santorum developed a life-threatening intrauterine infection and a fever that reached nearly 105 degrees. She went into labor when she was 20 weeks pregnant and allowed doctors to give her Oxytocin to speed the birth. The baby was born alive and died 2 hours later. That is NOT a partial birth abortion.
"allowed doctors to give her oxytocin to speed the birth. the baby was born alive and died 2 hours later." ???????? they induced labor and the child died. call it what you will. sounds abortion-y to me
Pitocin, actually (a form of Oxytocin, if you want to get technical). And there are drugs that can be given to stop premature labor.
Now, I don't judge on the whole bringing the baby home thing. It was a rough time for both of them, and they wanted closure. And they're more than entitled to do that. It's their right, and their choice, and I have a feeling that it was a fine, heartfelt moment. More power to them.
Less power to Rick. He wants to prevent abortion even if the woman is in danger. That's EXACTLY WHAT HIS WIFE DID! She had the baby early, speeding the labor (inducing, since she did not take labor-stopping drugs), in order to be able to get over the sepsis. Call it what you will, she aborted the fetus, which they knew would not survive outside her uterus. Hence, abortion.
He wants to prevent abortions even in the event of the mother's life being threatened. Hence, hypocrite.
The fact that he wants to outlaw ANY abortion is not right with me. That's a woman's decision. Period. Not any woman, the woman who is pregnant. It's up to her doctor to find the best procedure and the best care she can get, but it's the woman's decision.
Seems as though Mr. Santorum is a cross between Dick "Darth Vadar" Cheney and Michelle Bachmann.
While I have nothing against those who have deep religious convictions I personally have a problem with the ones who feel that their belief(s) somehow trump the rights of every other American who has the right to feel otherwise. I don't want my President to govern based upon religious dogma, but the document that he promises and swears to uphold, that being the Constitution of the United States including all of its ratified Amendments, as well as those laws which have been upheld by the Supreme Court of these United States (Roe v Wade).
We certainly don't need a "Born Again Evangelical Christan" with a deep fear of Islam sitting anywhere close to the Nuclear Football.
The article says that he's a "devout Catholic." I don't know him personally, but if that's true, then the odds are against him being "born again" and/or "evangelical." Some (as in "not me") would even argue that since he's Catholic, he's not even Christian to begin with.
If this scenario is fact, you have nothing to worry about.
It is so ironic to me that politicians who are deeply religious and wish to assert their religious beliefs onto this country, are some of the ones who criticize other religious extremists for essentially doing the same thing. Santorum definately fits that mold
Just for the record Sayitaintso...Rick Santorum is not a born again evangelical Christain...He is a Roman Catholic Christian...And Kitkarr, yes, that means he is Christian.
How about giving the American people more information about his actual political ideas vs. how he doesn't make it on some meaningless popularity contest? I know very little about Santorum and thus am not a supporter but this article is useless tripe. Have we really reduced our presidential election process in the media to discussions about sweater vests and high school nicknames?
Journalists who write this crap should be fired and these discussions left to the bloggers. Articles like this are the reason why Washington is so polarized and nothing EVER gets done. We swing from idiot to idiot because people are not elected on their skills, views, and capabilities, but on meaningless garbage.
Gee Mike, did you read the article? It said plenty of his political past here in Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania. He lost his Senate seat because he's a hypocrite, he scares Pennsylvania Concervatives about Iran and he says he's more superior just because of his family structure. Just how he used residency issues to unseat a long time favored congressman and his residency history ALONE proves he cannot be trusted. If anyone votes for this man, they deserve a big governement that peers into your bedroom and dictate how you may or may not conduct your life.
Laura, by no means was it left slanted. If anything, I thought it was flattering.
Ravenbiker: good points. He was tossed by a wide margin for a reason. BTW, I don't like the Steelers too much, but good luck to them this weekend. I have a SO who lives near "Picksburg" who I pick on a lot!
Raven... The article scattered a few statements about his policies, beliefs, and past political record amongst things relating to the size of his family, ethnic heritage, number of children, religious beliefs (which may or may not impact policy), clothing, high school nickname, google search results, etc. By these standards Kennedy would have never been elected.
How about a good article reporting his policy points/statements and then finding legitimate contrasting views? That would help the voter decide based on more than irrelavant bs. It's just sad that people from either party defend this type of journalism.
Laura, no mainstream media is going to say anything unbiased. They will all either be aligned with the right or the left. I want to challenge you to compare the 'news' with other sites like aljazeera.com and see what it leads you to believe. Just the difference in what is deemed news will be enough to blow your mind.
His remark last night ("I'd like to publicly thank God") says it all. Please, Rick, keep your religion to yourself. Do we need to hear you talk to God? I think not.
Sure we do. The new testament standard of living is alot more peaceful, nonviolent, help your brother out kinda lifestyle.
Tell me this: would this world be better with abortion or without; better with war than not, better with hate and not love. I'm sure the world is so much better with the unbalanced belief system we have. remember God loves you too......
'god' is an idiotic idea promoted by immoral people to control and pacify the weak minded. After listening to some of his rambles, I think he falls into the latter category.
Well "Lunatic" if that thought makes you feel like a more rational human being, it doesn't change the fact that Jesus said he loves you. I guess if you don't believe that then you have made your decision about God and he can't do anything else to change your mind. Don't blame him for what happens to you afterward. As they say if you don't believe in God, you better be right.
Woodrow - I think the point is that Jesus is a figment of your overactive imagination. Frankly, the idea of 'god' is so silly it isn't even worthy of serious consideration.
Many thousands of years ago, someone realized that a good ghost story can scare people. If you scare someone, you can control them. That's how religion was born.
The christians have made a business out of it. They work like the mafia ... they say "if you donate money, we can protect you". The whole thing is absurd.
The christians have made a business out of it. They work like the mafia ... they say "if you donate money, we can protect you".
It seems rather obvious you have very little understanding of Christianity or it's tenets. Perhaps you would be better served to discuss subjects that you are more familiar with.
Actually, The Lunatic has it right on the nose. He was a guest lecturer at my university last year. Here's a posting from his blog:
www.halfbakedlunatic.com/post/2009/04/04/Does-the-pope-believe-in-god.aspx
Interesting that in a lengthy discussion about the sweater vest, nothing is mentioned of the last evangelical Christian sweater-vest-wearing lying hypocrite to cross the national radar, Jim Tressel. Seems like he and old Frothy are a natural match.
Interesting that you have nothing more on the man than his choice of clothing and a disgusting nickname coined by a disgruntled homosexual sex column writer...
Don't be so hard on slick Rick Santorum... he's pretty tame compared to some of the GOP circus. I could vote for him if he didn't look so much like the guy I used to noogie in high school.
What's not clear? What do you want from a bullet point article? Sheesh! Get real information and Google his name...eventually you'll find something on this guy.
Laura I think you need to get your facts straight.
A miscarriage is generally before the first 20 weeks when the fetus cannot survive on it's own outside the womb. The fact that the fetus survived two hours outside the womb means she did not miscarry.
The pregnancy was induced early with Oxytocin. High doses of Oxytocin result in the following effects on a fetus: decreased heart rate, brain damage, seizures and death.
So let's revisit shall we...the fetus was inside Mrs. Sanctorum, there was a problem, she was induced with high doses of Oxytocin which has the result of killing the fetus. Please tell me how this is not an abortion?
I am a white heterosexual male and I find Santorum offensive. I do not care that he is catholic or whatever he chooses to believe. A representative government can only survive if there is a strong separation between church and state. He needs to study history.
Santorum is a religious fanatic who favors huge government telling you what to do in your bedroom as well as most other aspects of your personal lives. Remember -- the voters in PA kicked him out of office by a 2 to 1 margin.
Remember --- history has proven over and over that nothing is more dangerous than a politician who believes he speak for god-- whoever that god happens to be.
I'd actually rephrase that to his "insistence" on getting government involved in private lives. Which, bottom line, is NOT the job of the government.
Are you sure? Wouldn't how someone disciplines their children be considered "private lives"? How about smoking? Fat intake? Education of your children?
The government gets involved in our private lives all the time, whether for religious, political, common sense, absurd, or just about any other reason.
So Rick wants women to stay home and take care of children and he thinks birth control should be illegal. For those reason alone he should be disqualified from holding any public office let alone the office of President of the US. There really aren't any words to describe this A**H***.
why? santorum would be the kind of candidate that could actually lose to obama, you'd think msnbc (since we all "know" its left wing) would want him to win the nomination.
or are you suggesting msnbc is rightwing and wants to help romney win the nomination?
Did you hear frothy say that Obama "sides with our enemies"? Can you imagine the uproar coming from the right if a liberal said something like that about a righty? He's a real jerk! Frothy deserves everything about to come his way.
"Did you hear frothy say that Obama "sides with our enemies""
When you don't have any real answers to any real problems you come up with crap like that and things like the threat of Sharia law, birth certificates, a war on religion, you call your opponent a Marxist or a socialist, say he plays too much golf --- all the meaningless garbage teapublicans run their yaps about
Yes, because everything said about conservatives here is upstanding, forward thinking and honest. You know, like when anyone who's a conservative gets called a racist or a sexist or claims that the conservatives back slavery and murder? Naw, the left would never stoop that low.
Obama's only credentials for being elected president was that he was black and spoke well. No white man with his voting record or personal and professional affiliations would ever been elected.
Loser.
If he's the GOP nominee, Obama is a shoe-in for a second term. Go Rick!
Better not count your chickens before they hatch. LOL
They forgot reason number 12: He's a complete wacko!
Can you say "Male-version of Bachmann"
Just wait kids, this'll will be a fun show to watch. He hasn't had enough "air time" to really plant his foot in his mouth yet.
So i guess with this guy, if you and your wife don't want to have any more kids, and he does not want you to use BC, i guess he feels you don't need sex any more. sex is for making babies not having fun between a man and his wife.
Hell No!!!
WOW...Can anyone say "biased media"? That's some hatchet job!
Santorum is a dangerous nut with outdated points of view that do not belong into the 21st Century.
If that is what the Republican party brings forth, I will have to vote outside of it!, no question!
There are good reasons that he was booted from his political position in his state. He is nuts!
No, Obama's reelection is in the bag unless the Republicans become mute. The more these clowns open their mouths, the less it seems that Obama is a failure.
This guy is a theocrat - just like those leaders in Iran he spews venom at.
I suppose some of this group would call dyhydrogen monoxide bad. BTW too much of it can kill you.
When and where did he say that about birth control? Do you have any tape, a blog, a soundbite...anything other than your opinion?
Who mentioned another war...other than you?
Rick Santorum:
He'll declare war on Iran, immigrants, Muslims, gays, women, and Democrats, without ever lifting a finger to end abortion. But he'll sure talk about it a lot.
His google name is an insult to bodily fluids that come from the rectum, as described. He is nothing more than a hate mongering, fear mongering child that couldn't even get elected in his home state. Bob Casey wasn't even that good, it was just that Santorum was that bad.
On Santorium:
What Santorum means is that women not have been given the right to vote; to own property; to work outside of the home; to pursue secular professions; to without their husband's, father or a brother's consent travel alone; and they should not be able to choose their own life destiny.
Is Santorum a licensed physician? What contraceptive methods does he believe are harmful to women? Probably all contraception. If anyone believes that this in-the-bedroom policeman would not outlaw contraception - I have a bridge to sell you.
If elected to the Oval Office, Santorum would be just as arrogant.
Without the supervision of a licensed physician, steroids are always dangerous.
Fine.
Let these GOP ideologues pick each other off.
The Republican's last absurd candidate will then have to politically run against President Obama.
Santorum is just jealous that Iran has created a religious terrorizing theocratic state where no one has any rights to anything but the religous beliefs he sees fit.
Does anyone on this left wing liberal site understand that they are brainwashed into believing everything they are told. Thank God for independents
It really makes me feel pity for them.
Sounds like a freak.
I do KNOW this Pray For Your ENEMY! wpmrjr
"11 things you might not now about Santorum"
We must re-elect Obama over any of these republican clowns or your kids will end up dying in the Iranian desert with any republican party at the helm!
(Plagerized via BlueLake)
In other words, he is a dumb Republican talking from both sides of his mouth without knowing what he is saying.
WHERE DOES HE SAY THAT HE WAS IN ANY BRANCH OF THE MILITARY?
He is a total ignorant and pompous arrogant Republican
IRESPOND
why does believing that tough action, likely military, is needed to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon make Santorum a "extreme hawk" or a "dumb republican"..both Clintons have made similar statements...in fact many dems, including our current president, have said that Iran getting nuclear weapons was unnacceptable. In deplomacy speak that means we will use military force if necessary to prevent Iran from getting the bomb. Whether we end up in an armed conflict with Iran has much more to do with who is running that country than who is running ours.
@ Soggy:
@Woodrow,
Yes, look at Europe, they are currently beating us in everything. Except in the religious nut-bag per capita category.
davidm-sfsouthbay area
Paul does not want to end the military he wants to bring our troops home and end the needless bases around the world. You need to get your facts straight.
The Google definition of "Santorum" fits him perfectly... and it could not have happened to a more deserving piece of trash.
Everything Santorum talks about is BIG GOVERNMENT in your personal lives, in your bedroom, and in your body. Come on, Repubs. Where is your call for "smaller government"? What happened to those shouting about "government interference" in our lives?
Hypocrites and liars, every single one.
aggie: hatchet job? Indeed, I think it made him look good, which is hard to do!
I'm proud of the fact that I personally helped throw that bum out of the Senate a few years ago, with my vote.
He's a scoundrel and a liar. His type (and the other Tea Party types) are not what we need to improve our country.
After reading more about Rick I became more religeous almost immediately. I found myself saying "Oh God!" " Oh my God!"
Aggie-345886
A "biased media", like FOX, would have fabricated or twisted the facts and then driven a purposeful conclusion straight at the readers/viewers.
This article provides verifiable facts and let's the reader draw any conclusions. They collected facts to paint a picture... perfect journalism!
Is there something false in the article?
Ben-636050 Comment collapsed by the community
It is the GOP that is indefensible.
yes folks...we have all, yes, all of us been drinking the cool-aid as you like to say. the right and left play the public every day, all the while doing as they please because we don't stand up and put a stop to it. the nice thing to do would be to vote out all democrats and republicans. lets let the '3rd' parties have a shot at it. but instead of letting them play, lets put term limits on them. lets keep an eye on them. if 3/4 of us agree to vote them out, then they are out.
Chinese General Threatens US with World War 3 over Iran - Dec 3rd, 2011
Wake up and get a clue people!
We have two choices: Ron Paul - or - War. Which one will it be?
{For those interested, look up George Washington's Vision. Pay VERY special attention to the "Third Peril".}
Pennsylvania kicked Santorum out because of his poor performance, I think this guy is a loser !!!!!!!!!!!

WHO DO YOU THINK THIS GUY WORKS FOR?
As for Mitt's contributors, looks just like Obama's list.
Now to Santorum - this one article tells us more about Santorum than we know about our current President after 3 years in office.
I sure wish that the lunatic left wing media would provide this much detail in the investigation of Obama, as they seem lost in their abject praise and that "trickle".
Paul F
The lunatic left wing media hasn't provided this much detail in the investigation of President Obama because the lunatic right wing media has done that for you. That illustrious group has shown us without doubt about President Obama's socialist-marxist-communist-nazi-stalinist ties, who isn't a US citizen and (OMG) occasionally smokes a cigarette.
The horror of it all!
I say it's not the media that's lunatic.
@C.W.,
Are you crazy? The right wing media went to go visit President Obama's great grand mother in Kenya to see if he was raised there, so they could tell lies, but all they came up with is President Obama visited Kenya. They even went after his pastor, uncles, wife, kids, grand mother and grand father and all of his friends. They even put lies on the internet saying he was a muslin. Id you ask me i would say all the hate you have it taught racism.
Santorum is a fraud. He was voted the most easily corruptible politician in 2006.
BTW, Santorum's nephew is supporting Ron Paul. That should speak volumes.
I guess Santorum was an "anchor baby..."
lmao
Send Santorum back to Italy and let him ruin THEIR country.
He is not natural born as in being born to 2 citizens that were born in the USA. Not if his father came to USA at a young age. Does not seem he is quailifed under the constitution to be president.
Not so. His father and grandfather were LEGAL immigrants. Big diff!
Then neither is Obama!
Funny, I seem to recall them saying the same thing about Kennedy.......
Give it a rest.
Doggiemom,
Are you stupid or just ignorant.
They are a good family.
beyond that if he was born on US soil, then he is a natural citizen.
We not know Santorum is not a native American. My family history leads back to slaves.
A sick and twisted individual. What does this say about Iowa?
you people are amazing...anybody who dares think differently than you is twisted? aww come on. That you think that says more about you than him
Think differently?
@Snappa,
What this says about Iowa is that they almost NEVER pick the Republican who goes on to be a candidate, let alone President.
We can't employee or feed the people we do have! What would we do if every couple had 7 kids?
He is an insider preppy, mackerel snapper in a vest
@about that: If every couple had (had) seven kids...maybe social security wouldn't be going bankrupt!
No Kenn, Regan would have had more to tap and spend in the '80's
He has 7 kids, but also the wherewithal to feed his own and not look to the government for a handout in order to do so.
About...and we're not doing that now?
@Chris-749391
I wonder if you have ever read the Nicene Creed? It is not Biblical, it is not logical, it is total nonsense.
Yawn. That's the most negative they can come up with? Can't wait until the bloggers make all those points bigger than life.
this article wasn't full of negative things, it was a collection of random things..a "human interest" story.
Vermontguy: A "human interest" story requires a human as a subject---and no, comming up with "negatives" about this frothy-mixure is not that difficult.
He embarasses me as a Catholic. Trust me, we aren't all hate mongering, fear mongering imbeciles that want to continue the crusades.
We must re-elect Obama over any of these republican clowns or your kids will end up dying in the Iranian desert with any republican party at the helm!
(Plagerized via BlueLake)
@Woodrow,
I am very well aware of my religion's position on various issues, I however am not a sheep that just blindly follows what a man in a robe tells me.
Dem, I'm with you, my friend.
Peace.
All I see is a policy of HATE--Hate gays, women, immigrants, etc. etc, etc.
How could anyone conceive of him as President? Even his own state dumped him in a landslide because they thought him too extreme.
you people AMAZE me. Anybody who dares disagree with you or has a different view of things is automatically labeled as hate. Good grief. I will be glad when November gets here so you people can get a dose of reality
"All I see is a policy of HATE--Hate gays, women, immigrants, etc. etc, etc."
And the liberal media has done it's job because that is all they want you to see, how the hell do you think The Obama got elected?
Santorum needs to look at himself and view the hatred as do we as he spews it like v olvanic ash

The Mormons have it right to a certain degree.
Very Well Said & So Damned True!!!! Old Frothy hasn't got a chance in hell...Obama/Biden 2012
If you think Santorum is bad just look at what we have as a President right now
Old fashioned hatred, that's what.
janstine
You need to do some studing
DB, I think that you may want to re-read your science books from school. Only this time turn them right side up.
So, if you TRULY believe in what God wants, and not some church, then mr. santorum is not what you should be looking for.
http://www.christianity-revealed.com/cr/files/whensamesexmarriagewasachristianrite.html
Same sex marriage USED to be a Christian (and by definition a CATHOLIC) rite. There was specific liturgy spoken during same sex unions by the Catholic priests.
@ronnnieb,
disagreeing with someone is one thing.

LOL
I thought the article for the most part seemed pretty positive considering what a creep he is.
Nothing for us to be proud of.
That's why people who see how MSNBC runs their "news" needs to step up and boycott their advertisers. Not that I plan on visiting any of these sites that are about how someone in some local town earns 4000 dollars a month working from home at only 10 hours a week.
Seriously, MSNBC needs their sponcers boycotted.
If you want "fair and balanced," go to the FOX News website...
Mark:
We're STILL waiting to learn about Obama's record. He apparently HAS NO history... that he wants scrutinized, anyway. The little we do know about Obama and his affiliations, is enough to tell us he never should have been elected. Too guarded, too slippery...
Whatever, we all know a lot about Obama, and I do believe he is the only President that we can be sure was born in the US as he is the only one that has ever had to submit his birth certificate.
Hello. This is the nut job that took a dead baby home from the hospital so his other kids could play with it.
George Soros backed BO and he owns most of the networks. He's also anti-American and wants a one world government. Of course they're going to do a hatchet job on anybody that isn't BO.
I totally agree!!!!! Soros and OB. One and the same!!!
Well Aggie we do Know that he played golf recently with a friend who was busted for soliciting a prostitute!!!
Thanks for straightening me out.
yes, you are an idiot. Astute of you to notice it.
Rick doesn't want to pay for your birth control, but wants us to pay for his Viagra.
RU Serious...Alan Combs made that disgusting comment about Santorium taking his dead son home and "playing with him". Comb has since apologized for saying that. So don't believe everthing you hear some liberal pundit puke out.
I know all I need to know about Santorum and Obama...they both suck! RON PAUL 2012!
@LynyrdSky,
If you want fair and balance go to Fox News Web site.
You will get the most fair and balance FUX Noise reporting in the history of our country. At least MSNBC tries to hear the views of others. The at least hire republicans. Does Fox Noise do?
I bet we'll all be finding out a lot MORE about Santorum that we didn't know, once Romney, Gingrich and Paul start the negative ads.
Yes we will! The left won't have to denegrate these bunch of clowns, they will do it to themselves...I've never seen anything like it before. What a bunch of looney tunes..all of them are in self-destruct mode. I'm glad that I changed to the democratic party, no way in hell would I ever vote for any of these morons.
we are glad you changed to the democ-rat party as well Jez
I can tell you.
JezzaBelle,
Are you saying that you were a Republican and suddenly decided that everything you believed in no longer mattered? Or, did you become a Democrat because it was "cool" when President Obama was running? Or, are you saying that you agree with the Republicans, but since they don't have good candidates you felt it necessary to change parties because it somehow reflects on you? Or, have you never agreed with Republican philosophy and just joined without actually understanding what you were doing?
"11 things you might not now about Santorum"
Hey Molly. Don't you mean "know", and not "now"?
Too busy sucking up to notice the typo?
See my post above, the media sucks overall everywhere.
oh yeah.. it's that darn liberal media again never doing ANYTHING negative about Obama...
And BO doesn't scare you?
Why in the world should YOUR President scare you? Whether you like it or not, he is your president and the only one qualified to be president out of this bunch of looney tunes.
how is he qualified? Because he was a community organizer? Or maybe it's because it took him 3 years to produce a viable forgery of a long form Hawaiian birth certificate. Barry Soetoro makes a mockery of the office of POTUS every day.
Laura... Is your last name Bush?
Something else you dont know about santorum, his wife had a partial-birth abortion. But her circumstances were, somehow, different! *pish*
"allowed doctors to give her oxytocin to speed the birth. the baby was born alive and died 2 hours later." ???????? they induced labor and the child died. call it what you will. sounds abortion-y to me
Laura -
Pitocin, actually (a form of Oxytocin, if you want to get technical).
Yep supposed to be a separation of church and state but all these clowns like to state their religious beliefs as a reason to elect them.
separation does not mean never mention,,good night nurse!
SayitaintSo - just an observation...
The article says that he's a "devout Catholic." I don't know him personally, but if that's true, then the odds are against him being "born again" and/or "evangelical." Some (as in "not me") would even argue that since he's Catholic, he's not even Christian to begin with.
If this scenario is fact, you have nothing to worry about.
ronnnieb, nearly all of these candidates have done a heck of a LOT more than "mention" their faith.
There you go insulting Dart Vader again........
Gee Raven, it had a completely leftist slant on the 'information' presented. How about some non-biased information on the man?
His remark last night ("I'd like to publicly thank God") says it all
Gee -- god told Parry and Bachmann to run. Did he change his mind and replace those two idiots with a new Rick???
Frankly, the idea of 'god' is so silly it isn't even worthy of serious consideration.
it's amazing that the majority of the world thinks it's worthy, irrespective of what idea of god they believe in...
Yeah but the god they believe in tells them that the majority of the people in the world are crazy for believing in other gods.
No matter what your beliefs you are in the minorty and believe the majority of the people in the world are wrong or believe in fantasy.

Many thousands of years ago, someone realized that a good ghost story can scare people. If you scare someone, you can control them. That's how religion was born.
The christians have made a business out of it. They work like the mafia ... they say "if you donate money, we can protect you". The whole thing is absurd.
It seems rather obvious you have very little understanding of Christianity or it's tenets. Perhaps you would be better served to discuss subjects that you are more familiar with.
Actually, The Lunatic has it right on the nose. He was a guest lecturer at my university last year. Here's a posting from his blog:

Thanks, but i already know too much.
Santorum thinks birth control and oral sex should be illegal.
Can you say nut job?
Apparently he has never had good sex so he has nothing to compare it to and wishes to deny it to those of us who do.
Nice inaccurate spin, guess facts and reading comprehension are illegal in your neck of the woods eh?
Ok ... "nut job". There, I said it!
LynyrdSky: apparently you've never had good sex and require alternative methods to try to satisfy yourself....
Don't be so hard on slick Rick Santorum... he's pretty tame compared to some of the GOP circus. I could vote for him if he didn't look so much like the guy I used to noogie in high school.
Have you heard his views?
So I guess the writer of this article clearly does not like him! Let the political games begin.
"clearly does not like him"? It was far from a hatchet job. It was just random points hurriedly assembled into a "story".
I think the writer was way fairer than many would be. The partial birth abortion wasn't mentioned. I think many things weren't mentioned.
What's not clear? What do you want from a bullet point article? Sheesh! Get real information and Google his name...eventually you'll find something on this guy.
Get your facts straight. Mrs Santorum did NOT have a partial birth abortion, she miscarried. The child was born alive and survived two hours.
Everyone knows the truth has a liberal bias. Also the article was about Santorum, not about the President. Nice try to get off topic though.
Not much left to say about the president and his failed policies...
I am a white heterosexual male and I find Santorum offensive. I do not care that he is catholic or whatever he chooses to believe. A representative government can only survive if there is a strong separation between church and state. He needs to study history.
"I do not care that he is catholic or whatever he chooses to believe. "
Hey -- I spent 12 years in Catholic schools and I find the guy offensive.
SAntorum is a nut job, American Taliban.
I respect those that are Pro life but this retard thinks that
every sperm is a potential life, 14th century thinking.
HE has no respect for the Constitution, hes a Christian extremist.
Bringing your dead baby home to meet his brothers and sisters?
Good lawd thats insane.
"Fanatic" is a good word. This was the line from the story itself that I found perhaps the most appalling:
I'd actually rephrase that to his "insistence" on getting government involved in private lives. Which, bottom line, is NOT the job of the government.
The President is elected and sworn to uphold the Constitution, not the bible. Li'l Ricky needs to figure that out.
too bad the current person doesn't uphold either the constitution or the bible.... Ol' Barry needs to figure that out..
Let's elect him, and see if the men can stay home and take care of children. I have 2, and would love to stay home! 1 in daycare, 1 in school......
He didnt say he wanted that. You people need ot read...
I'm no Santorum supporter but I predict MSNBC will run a negative story about Ricky every day this month
why? santorum would be the kind of candidate that could actually lose to obama, you'd think msnbc (since we all "know" its left wing) would want him to win the nomination.
or are you suggesting msnbc is rightwing and wants to help romney win the nomination?
You can tell when people get afraid. They refer to candidates by disgusting nicknames coined by deviants to discredit them.
Laura, something along the lines of "Ol Barry"?
Wow, you're amazing. Hypocrit.
He is not any one I could support.
