Glenn Beck is an idiot.
#1 - Thu Nov 5, 2009 8:35 AM ESTNo he's not. I'm willing to bet that all you know about Glenn Beck you learned from Huffington Post and The Daily Show. Why don't you actually watch one episode end-to-end and see if you haven't learned something.
I'll tell you what I've learned most by watching Glenn Beck: that I'm guilty of not doing my civic duty... that I must do more than just vote... citizens have the responsibility to monitor what their elected officials do and complain directly to their Mayor, Representatives, Senators, and, yes, President, when they stray.
If you've watched a Glenn Beck show and haven't learned that, then maybe you're an idiot.

Why when a liberal makes a comment, They always say mean and bad things and usually is mean. They try to destroy the character of another person. Must mean that they, themselves, have no real personality. When a conservative makes a comment, they say the reason they believe the Person is good and praise them.

Please do spell out exactly what Glenn was wrong about? What was the show about? Was he wrong about ACORN? The Communist Green Jobs Czar? How Pres Obama has said that Cap and Trade will dramatically increase the cost of energy? Was he wrong when Glenn pointed out that Senator Barack Obama said he would have no lobbyists anywhere near his administration, but now has a half dozen former lobbyists among his Czars?
Please do tell us exactly what facts Glenn had wrong.

He's pretty much against corrupt government whether they are from the Democratic side of the aisle or Republican side.
As for hateful things another person talked about - I don't recall anything hateful coming from his mouth. Sarcastic - you bet. Ironic, yes. But he doesn't spew hate. It's not Hateful simply because some don't agree with what he says.

Totally agree with Jonas. Glenn Beck does not tell us what to think, he asks questions such as WHY, and DOES IT MATTER? For the people that cant stand Glenn Beck, then you must not be interested enough in our freedoms to even take the time to ask WHY or to take the time to ask yourselves Does it matter. Listen to Glenn Beck for one week - remove your ill-informed ego from the process - and learn something.

Even if you don't listen to a word Glenn Beck says, and just listen to only the facts that he shows you (video and sound clips), you should be able to make a logical choice on what is right or wrong. And I would be willing to bet, that if you actually listened, then your choice would probably be the same as Glenn Becks.
As for the people just calling each other names.. That's why you don't understand the Glenn Beck show. Because you don't know what the difference is between facts and YOUR own opinion. Say Glenn is a fat lier.. That is your opinion. Due to our nice constitution, you have that right. At least, for now it seems... But please do reference your work. That's right, maybe it is the Glenn Beck haters that can't read.. Afterall, I believe it is Glenn Beck that has some of the best selling BOOKS on the market today. hmm.. Fact??? If you say he lies, then tell us when.. Trust me, I will confront him myself if you can catch him in a lie. Afterall, I don't see the whitehouse calling his show whenever he asks for a fact check..
I was never really political, but after seeing fact after fact of the craziness that is going on in our government, then wether you like Glenn or not, you should be watching his show just to get informed on what is happening in OUR governement. Yeah, for most of you, it will be information that you wish didn't exist, but that doesn't mean it isn't fact. I am sure Glenn doesn't WANT his government to be corrupt nor more than you do. But just ignoring it won't make it go away. That would only be childish. So grow up people and start standing up for what is Right, not for your own personal agenda.
This isn't a bunch of white people hating on Obama.. Last I checked, Blacks are supposedly a minority, so how did Obama get in office? Either whites help vote him in, corrupted voting, or blacks aren't a minority. Take your pick... But none seem to help your argument any.. Plus, if you have ever watched Gleen Beck, you would know that he doesn't like the Rep. or Dem. party people who are crooks. No corrupt people! Black or White, Republican or Democratic!
I'm not sure which is worse.. The ones on the hill doing bad things for a lot of money and power, or the ones sitting on their butts after the many many things that Glenn Beck has shown you, and for what??? You sit on your butts and let bad things happen (for free), and politicians let bad things happen (for money and power). Maybe we (including myself) are the ones that need to be flogged in public... How much more do you need to see and hear for yourself before you realize just how critical this matter is. Yes, things will be ok for one more day... but how many more??? Time is of the essence my friends, my family, my countrymen. It's time to put your self-pride aside. It's time to stand up.

If this was a regular company, then yeah, maybe bend the rules a little, or let dummies become managers.. But this is the government of the USA. They are to be the best they can be, or get out of office. Very serious business. Minor screw-ups costs millions or billions of dollars, or even many lives. Way to go Xavier! Its sad to say but the only people you will impress with all that is the conservatives who will want to see the info. All the liberals will ignore it because they don't want to see, hear or know the truth. Glenn Beck is the only person taking the liberal administration on, head to head. With all the ignorant liberals out there with all their hate spewing, Glen takes his life in his hands, imo, when he gets on tv and exposes the truth, and we know it is the truth because the lying liberals can't bring up one valid explanation for anything the white house is doing to destroy the American way of life.

You know, I'm intelligence enough to discern for myself what is true or not. If you do not listen you can not make that decision. I believe that is what Fox states as they report anything. "We report you decide". There are a lot of things that I get mad about when he reports them but it is not because he reports it but because of what he reports. Don't kill the messenger.
Beck tries his best to educate us. That takes a lot of hard work. I appreciate his tenacity. I do know how hard it is to educate people who have no desire to learn and would rather keep their head in the sand.
Before the election last year, I was not very informed. I made up my mind then that I would not be ignorant again of the things going on in America. At that time I listened to different networks but I always came back to Fox.
The difference between stupid and ignorant is: stupid is to know better and do it anyway(you can't fix stupid) and ignorance is unlearned; when you don't know any better (you can be taught).

Glenn Beck is actually impeccable about his "facts". He has every fact right on, he shows videos (not conjecture) about those he targets. He had the goods on Van Jones, and all the other Marxists in the current Administration.

First of all, Beck can't afford to be wrong, if he where wrong he'd be crucified by the left and the media. Second, Glenn probably reads more books in a month than most of the people who critisize him do in a lifetime.
If you don't know who Glenn Beck is, you've been under a rock for the past few years. While Oprah concentrated on her magazine and whatever else she decides is important enough for her, Beck has been writing some of the most interesting and thought-provoking books to come out this year. Common Sense and Arguing With Idiots are both extremely interesting reads.

Glenn Beck clearly states that he's not a journalist, that's he's a commentator. When something is really important, he doesn't even give his opinion. For example, two weeks ago, he had a show dedicated entirely to the H1N1 vaccine. He had two doctors on, one who was in favor of it and one who was against it. Glenn said "I've made up my mind regarding my family and the H1N1 vaccine, but I'm not telling you what it is." He said it was up to us to listen to real experts and to make up our own minds.
I would like to point out, however, that Glenn Beck asks more common sense questions of our elected officials than CBS, NBC, ABC, and CNN combined. The mainstream media have stopped keeping our elected officials honest. Thank goodness someone still has the guts to do it.
To Jonas: I completely agree with you. I find that the people who think so little of Glenn Beck have never watched a complete show. My husband has been a committed liberal all his life. I am an Independent and I watch all networks and then decide which shows I will follow consistently. Since I talk about Glenn all the time...he finally watched a few shows with me (just to prove to me that he could find fault with what Glenn has to say). But he couldn't and he is now a fan and I even hear him quoting Glenn!

I agree. I used to be a democrat/liberal and I hated GLenn Beck. But I had NEVER EVER watched him. I only listened to the other stations bash him or other liberals bash him and got my opinion that way. Then, I decided to watch him one day. And you know what? He's dang good!
He ALWAYS states he's not a journalist (especially since the WH attacked him). He goes after Liberals and Republicans EVENLY! He is against corrupt government. NOT liberals per se.
But most people making these vague comments about him being mean and hateful I would bet my right leg they either watched him ONCE or watched clips of him or simply got their opinion from watching other stations talking about him. I also notice that when folks dont' have all the facts, they use generalties by saying he gets all his facts wrong. Well, okay, which FACTS are those? He says hateful things all the time. Okay, WHAT hateful things does he say all the time?
Watch him - you might find you were sadly mistaken. And you might LEARN something as he talks about the Constitution and economics a lot. Hubby being an economist, says Glenn gets a lot right.

Those that rail so hard against Glenn usually fall in to two categories... First, libs that have never watched him as you pointed out. Secondly, those that are so madly in love with Obama they would happily wipe his butt after each movement.
With the first group, they could take your lead and try to actually watch Glenn. However, there is nothing on this planet that will fix the problem the second group has. Even giving them a Labotomy would be a waste of time because the results would be the same.
Glenn Beck was asked about his upcoming high salary. He said he was , like sports stars - getting what people believed he was worth.

He is showing us things people i ngovernment say, their actions and the names they call us. Obama has said he would not sign anything that would add one dime to the deficit. Where is he going to get the money to pay for the things before congress now? They will add to the deficit and our grandkids will be paying more than we ever thought of paying. By the way why doesn't the government just give the CITIZENS who don't have insurance because they can't afford it a stipend to pay ins companies.

Glenn Beck has told the government leaders he would have them on his program if they just called him. None have. He has called their offices as well.

You should also read The 5,000 Year Leap. In that book you will notice how many things that our current administration is doing that the Founding Fathers warned against.
You should also read Mao's Little Red Book.
You shouldn't read only what you agree with... you can learn a lot from those who have gotten it very wrong.
Oh, and if you so hate Glenn, why don't you read his book Arguing With Idiots. I'm sure you'll find many new reasons to hate Glenn in there, or maybe you'll realize that the things you are so sure of aren't really true.
Glenn's read it and if you read it too, you might see how similar tactics are being used by this Administration to "nudge" us towards desired results - like spreading the wealth - like net neutrality - like controlling the salaries of ALL banks not simply the ones that took TARP.

Oye. Where to start. If playing back the words of Barack Obama and his cronies via video and audio Glenn and his research team dug up is not news, then I guess history will show what idiots we have become where we stop looking at the past statements of elected officials and ignore their clearly defined intentions.
Glenn doesn't make statements about this administration without parading video or audio of someone in this administration supporting his statements. If you watched the show, you would know this. It is obvious, you don't watch his show.
It's a shame you have eyes but cannot see.
I must say that the responses such as yours could only be posted if: 1) you are a somewhat intelligent person who likes to generate responses to absolute nonesense or, 2) you are from Obama's inner circle. Either way, I don't believe your should be given the credibility to deserve a response from those concerned about the condition our government is in.
I believe that most US Citizens are morally healthy, hard working people who find that history has taught us the lessons we're already taking a test over. Too much government is not healthy. Even with an open book test, government has overlooked that historical fact. Glenn is one of the few brave enough to stand up and say so.
Has anyone considered the connection between all of the LGBT bills being passed and the government run healthcare? What other group (and I'm only guessing on this) would generate astronomical health care costs associated with their choice of lifestyle. A majority of the President's attention recently has been given to the LGBT demand for the government to force tax payers to support that lifestyle. Hate crimes bill-bet that wasn't passed so you can't make inappropriate statements to an overweight person!
Let's wake up folks. There are a lot of things happening that are uncomfortable to discuss. I smoke tobacco-but I'm not pushing to have things changed to make my bad choices acceptable by others. We've recognized the health issues involved and have acted to protect others from it. We've stopped advertising it, we protect our children from it and certainly don't have a smoker standing in front of our schools telling the children its okay! Yet, we'll allow the LGBT community to govern and rule in every facet of our lives. Oh, by the way-I'm not homophobic. But certain things should not be mandated as acceptable when we know the horrific results that carries for our children. Junior High kids are now problaiming they're gay. Well, first we told them its okay to have sex (protected) now we're telling them there are more choices they might enjoy.

That that 78% of the responders would use Glen Beck as a reference on what to read is a sad commentary on the intelligence level of this country.
Oh really? please feel free to explain why Oprah's recommendations are so much better. I have read several books recommended by both. Oprah's are generally books designed to tug at the heart strings. Glens are designed to make you aware of the world around you. Even if some of them are works of fiction, they often use real world events to tell their story. Sorry, IMHO these are just better books. By the way, the 5000 year leap is an amazing book.

Glenn Beck is no more a Nazi than you are a clear headed rational thinker. Comments like yours have no basis in truth. But why try to speak the truth when you can just as easily play to liberal stereotypes about anyone who doesn't follow in the same footsteps as you and your ilk.

Brian.I'm sorry to say but ACORN has been running this country for years.Along with SEIU,APOLLO and TIDES.These are "the powers that be".Pandora's box was opened a long time ago.This administration is just moving at warp speed,that is why their agenda has become so transparent.They have been in place for many years.This has been a well thought out plan.The Communist Movement has not given up.But I have great hope.Awareness is spreading like a wild fire.The Truth will be thy shield.
donnat is absolutely correct. The fact we've taken so long to act upon our governments "pay to play" antics is really sad. Thanks to folks like Glenn, and the foolishness of the warp speed agenda of our current establishment, we're wide awake now. I'm personally ashamed it took so long. This country needs to return to its founders wisdom. Until we pick up the Armor of Truth, we're going to find ourselves in deeper and deeper muck.
Both, in my opinion, are strong on hype and light on substance. I like to make my own decisions on what I read.

How can you even compare the two? Oprah is diverse and presents multiple aspects, Beck is narrow minded and incapable of searching for anything other than what he wants to find.
Hands down- Oprah

Glenn has done more for this country in the last year than Oprah has done her whole life. Oprah is an entertainer. Glenn is trying to keep our elected officials honest.
Would you know about the millions of taxpayer dollars with which ACORN lined their board members' pockets if not for Glenn Beck?
Watch the show and then make a decision. I'm sure all you know about Glenn Beck you learned from Huffington Post and The Daily Show.

I used to watch Oprah until she promoted that book and was estatic about the Million Little Pieces author which turned out to be a total fraud.

I can't stand watching Oprah because she is a step above glamor magazines (which I can't stand). She promotes sweet happy fiction books, has beauty and health tips, and interviews supposed famous people. Woohoo, I could care less about 99% of that and what I could care about (oh say health tips) I can get from a better source, though I respect her for creating an empire as she has. Beck on the other hand is providing me with what is going on with our country. Do I agree with everything he says, hell no, I think he takes it a bit too far sometimes, but he is entertaining and supports his ideas with actual evidence in the form of sound and video clips(novel I know, I mean we all know its crazy). The books he recommends are wither historically important or thrillers and (if I had the chance to read, the joys of Grad School)they are all something I think I would either enjoy reading or learn something from.
Lastly, to all of you who are lumping Beck and all his fans with Republicans here is a little fact I don't think you know . . .
GLENN BECK IS LIBERTARIAN
It just so happens that a lot of Conservatives agree with him, but Beck (as he has repeatedly stated) thinks both parties are screwed up. I agree with him the Democrats are causing problems becuase they are in power now, but that doesn't let Republicans off the hook either, there is a very good reason I am Independent.
I use to like Oprah until she decided to turn from a honest religion to a new age religion because some mininster said God was a jealous God. Sure he is a jealous God because he loves everyone and does not want anyone to perish in hell. I just pray no one loses their salvation because of her popularity and ability to persuade others.
As for Glenn, go man go. Keep informing us and get well soon.

The fact is that when CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, The Washington Post, and The New York Times protect the president, his administration, and congress... when they don't report on the insane things they are trying to do, then the average American has no clue as to what is really going on. Would anyone know that the Green Jobs Czar was a self-avowed Communist if not for Glenn Beck? Would anyone know that ACORN is happy to help pimps sneak underage girls into the US to be prostitutes if not for Glenn Beck? Would anyone know how many Marxists are in the president's inner circle if not for Glenn Beck?
The funny thing really is that there's no disputing these facts, because Glenn Beck shows them on video! How can you call it a smear campaign, when you show video of the person actually saying they love Mao or Castro or Chavez?

mother and educator you of all need to watch Glenn. We all need to be afraid. Tell me one good thing that our President has done for us, more like he has just done to us. Look at all the corruption and the only place this comes out to the public to even know about is through Fox. All the other channels put our president in a glass bubble of perfection. We need to fear what is going to happen to our children and our country. I have learned a lot off Glenn Beck and others on Fox, and yes I am afraid.
It's not fear motherandeducator it's people are beat from fear and are starting to stand up and speak up against the corrupt government as they have learned from history. Can you point out any government program that has stood the test of time? Social security broke, where did the money go? That was never supposed to be touched it was designed so that when people retired they would be able to keep what they worked for and maintain the standard of living they worked all their lives for. They "borrowed" it for other special interest programs and there will never be money to pay it back. Medicare and Medicaid broke. Hmmm, lets rent a wheelchair for $4000.00 it doesn't make sense to buy one for $1200.00 or less, heck they wouldn't get their kickbacks to help pay them the money they work so hard for. After all they only work part time and maybe only two months a year. They are so underpaid. I feel bad for them. "When men fear their government there is tyranny, when the government fears the people there is liberty" Thomas Jefferson. Did the "founding fathers" of our country have more common sense than the politicians of today? They wrote the Constitution to hopefully save this country from internal destruction, The lieing "you fear us" politicians of this era have no insight and they don't care about it as long as they and their cronies can grow in power and make their money.
I see there are a lot of you out there that actually do pay attention to Glenn Beck! I wish I could watch his show, but I now have a job and get home too late. So my next step is to buy his new book: Arguing with idiots". Because it also looks like I'll be doing alot of that here pretty soon. I wish he was a teacher...wait a minute, that's actually what he IS doing! Educating us! Some people, unfortunately won't take it for what it's worth and they will have to suffer...I just hope they suffer in another country because our America needs to be re-founded!

And which news media / on air personalities would you say are unbiased? Olberman? Maddow? Matthews? Any of the 3 networks, ABC, NBC, CBS? At least with FoxNews and Glenn Beck even more specifically, you know that what you receive will be factual. You'll also get far more balance on FoxNews. Beck gives facts, those facts are not biased against anyone/party/thing, they are simply all the FACTS. You don't have to like them, but you should at least be aware of them. Otherwise, you are simply an uneducated person who is part of the problem.
The reeason Fox new appears to be so over the top is that the others are so biased towards the left than anything near being balanced is going to come off as right winged extremism. Have those that bash Fox ever noticed how many liberal contributors and people show up on show like Beck, Hannity and O'Reilly? I sometime want to reachi into the TV and slap Bob Beckel for his blind love of Obama but he is always on Hannity and O'Reilly. Marc Lamont Hill is always on O'Reilly. Democrate Stratigst Juan Williams often hosts for O'Reilly when he's off, Juan is hardly a Conservative, but for a liberal he calls it like he sees it. The truth of the matter is, although Fox has more conservative commentators than any other news organization, they also have many liberals and are the only news network that lets the Conservatives and Liberals hash it out right in front of you every night.

Fox IS fair and balanced...the libs don't see it though, because they don't watch it. THey only listen to the 'Savior" in the white house and other Obama Butt kissers! Thank you Glenn for telling it like it is. For those who don't think he tells the truth let me ask you: Do you think the family is important? Glenn does. Do you think people should have the right to know what their elected officials are doing..rather right or wrong? Glenn does. Do you think that honesty is the best way to deal with the public? Glenn does. Do you think that the citizens run the country, that those in office WORK for US? Glenn does.
If you believe all these things too, then you agree with Glenn. so what's your problem with him? Or maybe you don't believe in the basics of our founding fathers dream for this nation. I do, and so does Glenn. They would not know the country is they were alive now! Thanks to the progressive liberals who have turned our nation into a nightmare about to bloom!
It's hard to argue with all of that video and audio tape Beck has of Obama's "advisers". His delivery may leave something to be desired, but the content is first rate.

Not only can he take issues and project them into the future through his analytical thinking, but he is very well informed on issues that are flying under the radar screen so to speak and are very pertinent to issues at hand.
